  • The reality of this game is when you hit the ready button, you're accepting the possibility you may go against killers or perks you don't like or think are op.

The same goes for killers. When they hit that ready button, they accept the fact that they could be going against perks they don't like or an SWF

  • And unlike Huntress, the unknown has to hit survivors a minimum of 3, usually 4 times, if the survivor is playing against unknown correctly.

That's not even counting the fact that also unlike Huntress, unknown can't damage or weaken survivors by hitting them directly

And unlike Huntress, unknown also has to take ricochet into account when aiming.

  • If you're on hook when it would trigger, and then pulled off the hook, it won't activate.

Downed/injured when gens are completed=adrenaline trigger

Hooked/being carried when gens are completed=adrenaline doesn't trigger

  • Are hooks going to permanently break whenever the killer destroys a pallet then?

  • @Ryan489x said:

they could have just left it alone

    Why is this bothering you?

Some people finish the rift sooner rather than later. All the tiers after 85 just give them a slight BP reward for continuing to play and collecting rift fragments.

You said it yourself. There's nothing but BP after tier 85, so it's not like you have to complete all 200 tiers.

  • It would actually be incredibly lore inaccurate as the ghost face in game has no ties to the scream characters and is an OC character created by behavior

Honestly there is no reason to be able to lock lockers anymore. Even If lockers couldn’t be locked he would still be mid.

    @Yggleif said:

Assuming more lockers isn't an option which seems like the case.

    -Remove lock mechanic

-24m TR, the remnant is an extremely close range power and they're incredibly loud anyway so I see no reason why Dredge needs the usual TR

-Make the brown hood add on basekit, Dredge is already very loud so survivors have a ton of time to run away. Give Dredge a basekit way to punish survivors that try to stealth instead.

-Increase teleporting speed out of nightfall by 15%.

I think either way it would have to be approached cautiously if they don't want to have Dredge specific map coding regarding lockers, but yeah better locker placements would help tremendously.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3763772#Comment_3763772

It's a part of his counterplay in BHVR's eyes, though somewhat heavily hurts him when he's forced into the locked locker while teleporting regardless of which locker he highlights in close proximity. But yeah, i agree.

As a dredge main, I disagree. When people see they are going against dredge, they will not enter lockers. They will lock them however, giving the dredge and opportunity to grab them.

They just need to change the dredge automatically going into the locked one.

    1. I addressed survivors killing themselves on hook in my second post where I actually think this could be a remedy to that problem.
    2. I don't think that's equal as I don't really think tunneling someone out at 5 gens is "playing well" when if you're playing a strong killer (nurse/blight/spirit) and the survivors don't bring the right perks you should be able to tunnel someone out at 4-5 gens almost every game if you really wanted to.

The problem is this solution does not discriminate against tunneling in the way you think it does.

I play fair. I don't tunnel, and I don't camp. And I have had countless games where the survivors mo pop gens even after a survivor has died.

Now imagine you kill someone playing fairly, letting 2 gens get done. After you kill a survivor, a gen pops, and now you go from 3 gens to 1 gen and have to defend three different gens from three different survivors.

And if you let 3 gens get done by playing fairly, you just lost because you killed a survivor at the wrong time

    It would also be inconsistent.

For all the killer knows a gen could pop at any second. It could pop 60 seconds after you kill a survivor, or it could happen right after.

The second gen that gets randomly completed could be 99% or it could be at 0

The random generator completed could take away from a 3 gen from the killer or put the survivors into one.

  • Why are you dc-ing during a mori? The game is over. what does dc-ing at that point accomplish?

  • That tends to happen when you make your overarching antagonist a God in every possible definition of the word.

  • There has not been a single OP exhaustion perk since DH got nerfed to its current state

LOL this comment made me laugh XD

I understand it from the business point of view. However, as I stated in a comment above, they have an amazing art team who can popularize male survivors with their astonishing art skills. It just takes the courage to do it. Just imagine what this would do for the character diversity and general diversity within DBD. I would love to see it. <3

    I can see it.

Unfortunately I will probably not be as bothered by this as you, just on the fact I barely buy cosmetics and I never buy them with real money. The only exception I've made to that rule is one battle pass in for honor.

I can count on one hand the amount of sets I've purchased in dbd, maybe the amount of cosmetic pieces to. Even though I play characters who get tons of cosmetics I don't buy them. I'm likely not going to buy the new rift even, despite me being a former spirit main and loving snakes

aren’t we forgetting that tiny little wonder that Twins release was?

Or first Resident Evil chapter where consoles got literally fried?

I will say that these two are probably worse than what's going on rn. The killer desync bug was also pretty bad. Not as bad as rn, but indescribably frustrating when playing surv

  • I can tell you what's going on.

    The United Bank of MONEY

  • There's no adept Steve because when they lost the license for ST, Steve's perks along with demogorgon and Nancy all became general perks. You could get them on any survivor without actually needing Steve, meaning there's a bunch of people without Steve but with his perks that would have to spend money just to get an achievement

I like new rift, but I agree with your point. I wish at least killers skins remains mostly scary and with horror atmosphere.

I'd say the spirit one does. I feel like snakes are a pretty common animal to fear.

  • If this was a discussion just about deathslinger, it would probably be different. But we're talking about 110 killers in general. And 110 needs to be kept, or killers like chucky, spirit, and Huntress would have to be nerfed to compensate for them being the same speed as other killers

  • Should I just post a bunch of the concepts I've made?

  • What does a dbd community mean for me? Absolutely nothing. And I believe that should be the case everybody. No point in caring about strangers you've never seen before and will likely never see again.

Same thing applies to having standards and norms. No point in upholding norms if they hinder your experience. May as well make your own.

    @jezebelthenun said:

We probably should have some community standards but since the only people who would be able to enforce that is themselves...that's not even touching the fact everyone has possibly radically different standards.

It used to exist on a much more widespread level, where, in general, people agreed on definitions of things like tunneling and gen-rushing, and certain playstyle were possible, but agreed upon as pretty gross or toxic by the larger community. It changed dramatically right around when crossplay was implemented, and it became a much more self-centered game of "efficiency over fun". It's definitely continued down that path, much to the chagrin of many who played before it all went batty.

I'm definitely of the opinion that gaming communities are real communities and should have similar standards in and out of game. We're all people, not just screen names. Unfortunately, the larger a community gets, and the younger the members are in online/gaming communities (hot take maybe) the less likely it is to be kind or compassionate, usually. Those who grew up in the anonymity of the internet seem to be much less likely to care about the people on the other side of their screen.

This has just been my experience, and it's just my opinion, though. Hopefully others have had better overall experiences with forums and communities like this.

The difference between real communities and gaming communities, is that one consists of people who know or support each other on a basic level, while the other is just a massive crowd of strangers with no reason to care about each other.

  • I ######### loved Abigail. Definitely one of my favorite recent horror movies

And my dream is for people like you to all have their own queue as well and ONLY play with others like yourself. The premise that a player has to stay in the game when a killer is actively doing something as unfun and overpowered as tunneling, or even worse(and becoming a VERY common occurrence) in going out of their way to BM and be as toxic as possible, just because said "teammates" are basically saying "too bad, you're fun doesn't matter, just deal with it so WE can escape," is ridiculous.

This game isn't a job, and it shouldn't feel like it either. The way a lot of killers have decided to play recently has killed any drive for a ton of players to even boot up the game anymore. People who think like I stated above are another reason. Maybe it doesn't happen to you, but when you play x amount of games and the overwhelming majority of them become so horrendous that you make the decision that fussy has, maybe instead of blaming them you can look more at the underlying problem of why they've come to that decision. They have every right to make that choice, because, again, this is a game that they bought, to have fun.

Quite frankly, the selfish view that x person's fun doesn't matter, mine does and that's more important, needs to change. It's why we are where we are in the first place. If people on both sides started realizing that they're playing with other human beings, not bots, and took a little consideration in to making sure it's not a miserable experience for everyone else, I have no doubt that these conversations would be less common. But as long as people put so much emphasis on "winning" over everything else, which becomes incredibly unhealthy over time, it is what it is.

And sure, make different queues for the two sides like you said. I guarantee that in time, after all the super sweating, tunneling, hitting on hook, unnecessary bleedouts, t-bagging, flashing, notification spamming and other types BM'ingthat absolutely will take place, most people will be playing the other one.

People like that already have their own que. If somebody is playing in a sweaty way such as tunneling, their mmr will eventually place them against people who play just as if not more sweaty. So that que for sweaty people already exists.

Having now played (the first) Alan Wake, I think the voicelines are pretty integral to invoking the game of origin.

Gabriel, Ripley, Sable could definitely have done without the lobby lines. They’re rather generic, too. Aestri/Baermar have admittedly less generic lines, but they aren’t all that special either.

As for the killers, I think Pinhead nailed the frequency of the lines. Wesker overdoes it, as does Vecna. Chucky is also borderline too frequently for me, but he has a large variety of lines so it’s less noticeable.
Unknown gets away with having lines, as they’re much less “this trigger happened”. Singularity…less so, but at least he’s not too annoying about it.

Another reason I dont mind the chucky voice line frequency is because he as a character is an over the top jackass

Maybe as costumes, they only do like two licensed killers a year and I'd imagine they wanna save it for the big fish like Friday The 13th (I'll be legtimately surprised if it doesn't happen in 2025 or early 2026) Five Nights At Freddy's, BioShock, Mortal Kombat, or Candyman

As for which characters? Eh any that can be translated into DBD killers… maybe one where Victor's one of the monkeys?

If only they gave Victor skins.....

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Blast Mine does not only blind, but it also stuns the Killer. Lightborn does not prevent the Killer from getting stunned.

    Yeah this.

  • My question would be how the powers would work. The murder monkeys don't have anything going for them. The gold watchers freeze when you look at them but that's not really a power. Agatha has teleportation and impeccable hearing, but that puts her in a role that spirit already has. I don't think we know enough about Malak. We would probably have to wait for the game to release all its levels before deciding what would be the best killer

  • The only pro I've experienced as survivor is when the killer picks the wrong person and they get ran for long enough to the point where they lose the game because of it.

I was playing a match against doctor, and he decided to tunnel the Quentin. The Quentin was downed and hooked twice in the time it got us to get three gens done. When he got downed the third time, I tried body blocking and taking hits so the Quentin could wiggle off, which he did TWICE, and he had boil over so you know that helped. And him wiggling off gave the rest of us time to finish the last two gens. By the time the Quentin was hooked for his third time, we had opened the gates. By deciding to tunnel Quentin, the doctor over committed to one person, letting the rest of us escape.

This perk is finally getting buff! It's gonna be meta I feel

I wouldn't go that far. The skill checks, while difficult, are pretty easy to hit once you know the perk is in play

  • Just because hooks can respawn doesn't mean there's no reason to slug people to death.

Mainly I'm referring to Sabo, flashlight, and boil over squads. If you get a squad with each member running one or more of these, slugging is still the only option really left for you.

In the endgame, you might just not found someone ypu downed earlier if they crawled away from where you downed them.

Bhvr constantly having to distinguish between that and slugging just to be toxic would require more work than just keeping slugging. Considering how they have not done that already, I'm pretty sure that's already off the list.

  • @ZdradaSOS said:

Im fairly new to the game so I'm sorry if this is a silly question. But I just had a game where the killer sacrificed two survivors then proceeded to let me and another survivor work on the last 3 gens and escape, Just wondering if I could be banned for this because it wasn't my intention to escape?

I highly doubt it. The killer letting survivors go I don't believe falls under teaming, which is the only way someone could argue that. People have been letting others survive for the entirety of the game's lifespan

  • @turfking said:

I know the old footage. I know the healing Boon was a problem. If you think the Killers were at a huge disadvantage then, then THAT is where we are now on the opposite side of that equation. I am saying the larger maps, which I miss playing either side, and The Medkit Neffs were where it went south. Too much advantage has been given to the Killer side. The Medkits used to matter, now they are all the same so I don't care if I lose a Ranger Kit. I dont want to find and join a SWF Team, to have a competitive game, so now i'll just play Killer and make others as bored as I am by killing them quickly

Oh brother, COH on release is what you consider "old"? I shudder to imagine how you would react to REAL old dbd

Maybe you are playing at extremely low MMR literally no one bother to play seriously, we never know

Considering @Aven_Fallen has literally played against Otz, I HIGHLY doubt they're low mmr

  • I was willing to hear you out until you called Devour braindead, when it's probably one of the best designed perks in the game.

It rewards you for completing your objective, rewards you for not camping, and works best when you don't tunnel. And it's incredibly high risk-high reward. Because it's effect is so powerful, it can be permanently removed, and survivors are informed of its existence before it reaches its most powerful stage.

Aside from hexes that don't spawn throughout the match, its probably the only good hex perk left. None of the others provide a good enough effect that justifies them being able to be permanently gotten rid of.

Bubba was face camping the surv in the basement and it wasn't enough.

Also what you said about the projectile killers.
For these killers the range should be extended.

The survivor may not have wanted to jump off. It's not an automatic thing.

I’m talking about the over stimulating of his powers for people with sensory issues… not about “learning”.

Whereas, as killers like, Trapper, Dredge, Trickster, Clown, Nurse, Freddie and twins don’t have the over simulating colours, more than 2 powers etc unlike the new killer.

That’s the issue I feel the company haven’t acknowledged in this chapter at all. I know people with these issues who can’t play due to the issues with the killers features.

I mean I have overstimulation issues, and I haven't had problems with Vecna

The game shouldn't be designed that when one side is having fun the other is not. Asymmetrical or not, you can still have fun if you lose. The trick is to having fun and meaningful gameplay for both sides, and the devs appear to have long since abandoned that philosophy.

The devs never seemingly had that philosophy.

There are/have been countless things on both sides that are not fun for the other side. Flashlight saves, BU+FTP, Eruption and the gen-kick meta, insta-moris, tunneling, gen-rushing, sabotage, slugging, keys. Even the chaos shuffle is a good example. If you got stuck with #########-all while your opponent(s) got synergistic or useful builds, then the match was miserable. Again, most of this falls on stuff that changes outside of the standard gameplay loop.

And then, once X is nerfed or changed, you're decreasing the fun of one side while giving more fun to the other. So at a certain point, especially with perks being factored into this, one side is inevitably going to have more fun than the other, and not everyone's going to be happy. It is to be expected at this point.

  • @Valuetown said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3734406#Comment_3734406

Why should the killer's fun be at the expense of the survivor's fun?

Because that's the way the game is designed to be. Given its assymetrical nature, a lot of what one side finds fun, the other side will not. Especially when it comes to things like perks, add-ons, items, offerings, and anything outside of the standard gameplay loop that's prone to change every match.

  • Actually. Despite the constant complaints about it, I rarely ever see tunneling, camping, and slugging. Maybe once in every 7-8 games. It may just be my mmr, but you saying nobody does anyway is just disingenuous

If knowing it is a SWF group vs not a SWF group creates a scenario where everyone starts dodging the SWF groups, that would indicate that there is a problem with SWF and the game balance would it not?

Not really. It would indicate a players lack of a backbone more than anything else. Similar to people thinking p100=God tier player, it's just another misconception

  • Disappointing but also inevitable.

that’s not anymore healthy for the game and it would slowly die out.

    How is that unhealthy?

If someone dc-ed in a spur of the moment rage, then the dc penalty gives them time to cool off.

If someone dc-ed just because the game crashed, that's why the dc penalty is very short to start.

If someone is consistently dc-ing because of crashes, the dc penalty gives them time to find what's wrong with their internet. After all, bhvr turns the dc penalty off when the server issues are consistent on their end.

And if someone is consistently rage-quitting to the point where the DC penalty builds up to anything over 10 minutes, at that point the penalty is just preventing them from playing a game they clearly aren't enjoying anyway, while keeping them from ruining games with people who actually have enough of a spine to see a match to the end

ok and my point still stands this doesn’t change anything. Fun is subjective and when you’ve designed ur game to only cater towards fun, if fun isn’t being had people will leave. There is no incentive for people to not leave for the many reasons you’ve listed and surely many more. There is nothing to earn or work towards so I’ll play the game for fun, if it isn’t fun you either tolerate it or dip its that simple. What ur suggesting would only apply to a game that actually had some form of incentive like a ranked mode but this is an asymmetrical party game.

If something that is a key part of the game's formula is enough to make you DC, you shouldn't be playing.

Also what you say can also apply to my argument as well. You're not having fun with whats happening in the game, tolerate it or dip but don't be surprised when the game penalizes you for ruining the game for four other people.

1 2 3 4 … 72
