Well that only bolsters my former point. The inconsistency of said cost can be completely abrogated if you're not the obsession, and then OoO is completely superior to distortion.
Experienced loopers will not rely on stealth, because looping is just a better way to do things than evasion. You aren't gonna loop forever, but loop for a long, long time (hopefully), so that time may be wasted and your teammates can push through generators. Stealth will just let the killer find another survivor, or if they're experienced enough, deduce where you are and negate that stealth. OoO goes precisely the first approach; promotes looping, not stealth.
The fact that you have to hope the downside can be nullified shows that it's not objectively superior to perk that has literally no downside.
Certain killers and maps can screw over even the most experienced loopers, and again you are left to the mercy of your team, slugged, camped and possibly even tunneled. Whereas stealth is a much more self sufficient style and if you're experienced at it, the killer won't find you often.
It's two different playstyles. If you prefer looping, go for it. But pretending anything is superior when it's all subject to personal preference is ridiculous.

The centrality is found in what it is described explicitly to do. If the central purpose was to find information, you could have a pure information perk that gives you an alert when your aura is revealed. But it doesn't; it hides your aura, with the tokens diminishing as a nice side effect.
OoO reveals your aura for that cost. That part is irrelevant, the fact of the matter is that having your own aura revealed is just not that big of a deal for experienced loopers.
OoO only does it if you're the obsession, so I can't see how that's the "cost" when it's possible for you to completely skip said cost or get it taken away by something like For The People Both give information but one allows you to keep tabs and one allows you to hide.
Even experienced loopers can be caught, hooked and left there depending on map tile and killer. Experienced players can also just avoid having to loop in the first place. If it's irrelevant to your playstyle, good for you. Use OoO instead.

Yeah all the lesser used perks need buffs look at poor monstrous shrine and I am all ears only used in meme builds😂
Bitter Murmur is actually quite good and I'm All Ears works really well with killers that can go through walls.
Monstrous Shrine is disgusting though. That needs a rework.

That new Nemesis perk drained all my tokens at the start of the match lol
I'm legitimately curious how that's even possible.

My friend nagged me to get it the day after it released on consoles. There was no tutorial or instructions. I knew nothing about what the game is or what you do in it, but I saw a big dude with a knife clobber someone. So I hid in a locker until I got crows, saved a few people but got caught again and couldn't be saved.
Never touched a single generator. I was beyond confused and wondering what I was supposed to do.

Getting to tier 3 takes too long without addons. And the fact the anti-serum can remove a lot of work, without any downside, also hurts. You could have to hit a survivor 9 times to actually kill them which is ridiculous.
That said, once he gets to tier 3 he is pretty unstoppable. And the zombies, when not glitching, are kinda fun and adds some fun mind games.
The downside is that it triggers killer instinct, doesn't it?

I'm really glad not everyone here just takes whatever a streamer says as fact.

Anecdotally, I reached red ranks as survivor when I first started playing. I was new, I couldn't have been very good, but I just ranked right up. (I didn't like it. I immediately let myself de-rank. I've never gone past green ranks since.) That's my own experience, though, it's probably not the norm, but it does color my perspective.
That's why I added "staying" in there. People de-rank pretty quickly when red rank killers pop up.
-
I wasn't aware bitter murmur needed a buff.

It's not really a character, it's just a skin. The Minotaur skin has been the same freaking price and people (myself included) love it. Still just the Oni though

Well of course it needs tokens, having one perk completely counter an entire subset of perks is too powerful, so you add the limit of tokens to keep the primary intention of aura hiding from running out of control.
OoO is unlimited in its usage and being able to know where the killer is is of much greater utility than hiding your own, in the highest ranks. That's why it was so popular back then; it's a manageable cost for an ample benefit.
It hides your aura and gives you information, I don't see one as more central than the other. If it wasn't meant to do the latter, it wouldn't show you how many tokens are left and just go dark when used up.
It was popular with swf groups because they could broadcast the killer's location. There's a reason I said I recommend it for solos. I use other perks to keep track of the killer or at least the rough location of him, but there are none that can give me information and keep me from being found. Since I don't play that kind of Swf, this is far more useful to me in higher ranks.

I don't know about other games, but the pipping system in dbd is awful. And the red rank ceiling is way too low, the skill level within red ranks alone runs the gamut from total potato to absolute god, but players will mention red rank like it only means god. Red rank is only good for judging time played, I wouldn't even say it's good for roughly judging skill.
Other games, it's usually waaaay easier to be carried since winning is all that matters and you can be carried to diamond or whatever. Dbd is the only game I know where you can win and still go down in rank.
Regardless, getting and staying to red ranks does take some actual effort. It's not a perfect judge of skill or time, but a rough estimation of it. That's what it exists for
-
You bought the game too and likely the dlc or your complaining is just hilarious. You call us fools but you didn't even know that you don't need to pay for the maps and that you can pick maps in kyf. Take a nap, kiddo. You're just grumpy.

I like distortion, it’s a great perk, but I’m reluctant at the idea of giving it potentially unlimited charges by healing, saves, etc. I don’t play killer that often but as is it’s already difficult to track down a person that’s using it. You want to conserve charges? Jump into a locker when someone is about to be unhooked. Works for me.
That's basically how I play it. Not sure why people are thinking the lack of permanence makes it unviable.

The primary focus of distortion is to hide your aura. The information is secondary at best, and inferior to the new OoO. It fails in this regard spectacularly.
If the primary focus was to hide your aura, it would not have tokens. OoO is much riskier because it reveals you if you're the obsession, so I'd say it's the inferior one. I wouldn't even compare the two

Whats the difference suiciding on hook and dcing; one way does not give you a dc penalty, the other does, but the goal is the same
There's a reason they made it take longer to ######### on the hook. At the VERY LEAST, dying on the hook means you take one hook with you and the killer still gets sacrifice and BBQ stacks.

Ranks mean something, but they're faulty. Most rank 20s are new players and should be put against other new players. However, some players de-rank, making it an imperfect system. Red rank means someone has recently put a lot of time into the game, but it doesn't mean they are amazing players, so red ranks see a huge mix of skill levels because there's nowhere higher to go.
That is what is meant when people say ranks are meaningless.
This can be applied to most rank systems. A diamond player in Rocket League can still lose to a silver or whatever. Every game is like this and it's only a rough measurement of skill. The point and context of the conversation is that DBD is a game that plays competitively that tries to match players by ranks.
That's why it doesn't make sense in this context.
-
It's not even comparable. Making new cosmetics is 40 times easier than making a whole new map while trying to balance it, gens, pallet spawns and walls etc.
-
@ShamelessPigMain said:
*cries in three tokens and the fact that teammates who don't also have distortion will display their auras anyways*
Hey, that's their problem. And the tokens aren't to keep you hidden forever. It's to give you enough information on the killers perks to adjust your playstyle around it.

Trying what? I feel like I am talking to a wall when I’m trying to have a argument with you. You are throwing around accusations and saying that I’m saying stuff that I haven’t even said
Want me to take it slow for you then? Okay. You said: Ranks don't mean a thing and everyone knows it. Sooo rank 1 and 20 don't mean anything?
-
Mhm. Keep trying.

The update includes the map, not the dlc. Same as it is and was for every single chapter update. Or have you actually been buying every single chapter and thinking you need it to play the map?

I’m saying that the rank system is used so that people that are rank 1 are less likely to play against a rank 20, but that it barely works.
Okay so you're saying that ranks DO mean a thing and that there is a ranking system in place, however janky?
-
@aroell said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2292416#Comment_2292416
I’m sorry but what? Ranks don’t mean a thing and everyone knows this. It’s just used so that people with 5k hours won’t ######### on someone with 50, and it doesn’t even prevent that from happening.
With the current balance issues the game can’t be called competitive
Oh, everyone knows this? So a rank 1 killer should be pitted against rank 20 survivors and everyone knows it? A game that has balance issues can't be competitive? I'm not sure where you got these ridiculous qualifiers from, but they're pretty funny.
-
I have a couple of friends that I don't like seeing killed, so I broke out the alex toolbox and saboteur perk.
Sabo perk highlights all the hooks in the area, so you can try to make it there first (sprint burst helps) alex toolbox has crazy speed, Breakout would help if I had it and an offering to space out the hooks more.
I got 5 saves in 3 games. I technically died in 2 of them and the third I couldn't sabo both hooks and didn't save one ):
But I saved my friends so it was worth it.
-
Extra blood points, faster bloodlust, faster breaking and vaulting AND not losing it on breaking a pallet?
Are you serious?

Should regain tokens by healing a health state or a safe unhooks. To encourage team gameplay. But sill keep the current affects and starts with three. Mid-Chapter would be a great time since there's always been BBQ and seem like everyone's liking Lethal.
I love this idea because it will address the biggest problem with stealth survivors: Their selfishness. Giving them more of a personal incentive to help others so they can stay hidden is genius. Just like how BBQ encourages people not to camp

Nothing about being childish here,i paid for a game to have fun. If i dont have fun then i should have the ability to quit, why stay in an unpleasant match when you dont want to?
So what if you paid for the game? Everyone paid for it and you're ruining it for them. Not having fun? Leave and take the penalty like you deserve. That simple.

Call of duty battlefield, fifa, nba etc dont have a penalty. Nobody pays for a game for others to have fun. Its my opinion
Then play a single player game, and iirc all of those have single player modes. If you're going to be childish and selfish, just don't play with other people.
-
Tunnel and camp them. I don't tolerate sandbagging, hook farming or just deciding to not to anything and wait out for the hatch.

More points for you if you can unhook yourself and less risk of going into stage 2 if someone's there to get you.
I only understand it if you have deliverance and want to get use out of your perk.

Nobody plays for other people’s fun. If someone doesnt wanna continue the match for any reason,he should be able to quit without time penalties. In other multiplayer games you can quit whenever you want,so i don’t understand why dbd should be an exception.
No he shouldn't. If you're not having fun and want to quit, take the penalty. Most competitive pvp games I've played have a quitter penalty: For Honor, Overwatch, Rogue Company, Smash Bros., Street Fighter V and more. It's not an exception.
It doesn't matter if you only play for your own fun. Your behavior is ruining it for other people and the fact that you don't think it should matter is just selfish and childish.

What, and the pig isn't? I remember saying this back when she released that David would body slam her. Leon did RE4, you think he couldn't suplex the hag? Freddy is a manlet, Jeff could f his S up in a straight fight.

But Legion is the one that's unbelievable?

If they got more points than you, and didn't even finish the gens or open the door. Well sounds like you were losing anyway.
Secondly, like I have said before, if keys were so strong and so prevalent, then they are decreasing the kill rate. Which can be as high as like 68%. So , if they are as strong as people like to make them out, and used that often, nerfing keys will only raise the kill rate, resulting in eventual nerfs to killers.
Thank you. My first thought when reading this was "Sure. It's the key that was the problem."
You know moris can do that too, right? Much less so now. But say I sabo'd all the hooks or you used all the hooks in the area and wouldn't be able to make it to a new one before wiggle timer, but you just mori instead.
Or say I am waiting to flash save a friend, but you mori instead.
They got 4 gens and you got 1 kill, and less points. The key was just insult to injury.

Yes, killer decides if survivors get points and its not really fair.
Sigh.
Okay. Don't survivors decide if killers get bloodpoints? If they hide the entire game, never get found and finish all the gens, does the killer get blood points?
If a killer camps, then he isn't giving points unless you feed it to him. If he tunneled and slugged and you guys got mollywhopped without being able to get points, then how exactly did he get 26k bp? That means he got an average of 6k in each category. Were you hook diving? Trying to WGLF to get yourself more points? Tut tut.

I didnt say I thought the case would win, or even if it would be worthy of a court case. Cyberpunk was my point because of it being pulled from psn due to not functioning properly. Take my example of the misfunctioning vacuum cleaner, you could easily get a refund on that for it not working as intended, just because it picks up some dirt as intended does not discount the fact it throws dirt out too.
Have you played the Switch version? If so have you played the Switch version and one on another platform? The Switches performance is nigh on unplayable therefore not functioning as intended.
PSN took it off because it was on release and they could get ahead of the refund claims. They didn't do it with Anthem and that was reported to be bricking consoles among all the other bugs. PSN still keeps games that have game breaking bugs, poor optimization and even discontinued servers or support. Xbox didn't take it down and neither did PC, and guess what? This isn't PSN.
Your example also doesn't work. It's more like a vacuum cleaner that you need to really press down and run over and over again. It's difficult, it's not optimal, but it works.
Also yes. I've played Switch, PC, PS4 and PS5 versions.
-
Are you being serious right now?
-
@Purgatorian said:

It's like buying a vacuum cleaner that spits out some of the dirt collected periodically. It doesn't work as intended, has problems with it's design. Exactly the same as a video game that does not function properly, look at cyberpunks problems for example.
The game functions, it just doesn't function as well as it does on other consoles and right now is buggy.
Cyberpunk is a bad example. Do you even know why its first lawsuit was filed? Or by whom?
-
You honestly think that someone would win in court? Christ.
You would at most be able to get a refund from Nintendo, but I doubt even that. What did you pay for? The game. What do you have? The game. It's running pretty poorly atm and that freaking sucks.
But you think you'd win in court? That's like saying you could take McDonald's to court because the burger you ordered didn't have enough special sauce.
-
I don't think NOED or Dead Hard are a problem. Decisive? Now THAT was a problem. Nurse's Calling work with mend? THAT was a problem.
Noed and DH are just second chance perks.
Noed can be nullified before it activates, and if the killer kills all four of you after the gates are powered, then he deserved it. I've never gotten a 4k off of it because people are usually smart enough to leave or at least destroy it.
Dead Hard is frustrating for me as a killer, but anyone with a one shot down or a ranged attack can deal with it. It also actually takes some skill to time and I laugh a little bit whenever people use it too soon or too late.
-

Dc penalty should go away imo for ever. If someone doesn’t want to play he doesn’t need to be forced
If someone doesn't want to play, then turn off the game. The entire reason the penalty exists is because someone not wanting to play ruins it for four other people.
-
Fully agree. Doctor, Spirit, Nurse, Blight, Huntress?!
-
I don't, personally. They just feel weird, like weaker Trapper traps. I prefer dream pallets whenever possible because I get off on survivors panicking to use it.
