Pop Goes the Weasel x4, instant gen nuke whenever you hook someone.
Alternatively as survivor, self care x4 to heal yourself at we'll make it speeds.
-
I'm pretty sure it's because of Nintendo, they verify their updates much more intensely compared to xbox and ps4, and so it takes ages to get the update through. Give it time; as soon as Nintendo are ready the update will be out.

Not sure how this works when gen is already regressing?
I've never had it where I get stuck in a regressing gen, only after I break it. During the actual animation you can see yourself quickly jut forwards to become stuck in the gen, its not difficult to miss. Just cancel and restart the break animation, or if you're playing nurse (maybe, haven't tried it) or Freddy then teleport, with freddy to a min-regressing gen since the break animation fixes the issue. If you jerk forwards but keep going idk man can't help you, never happened to me.
-
Yeah only one I've experiences is bug #1. Easy fix. When you begin to kick the gen, you move forward slightly so you're stuck in the gen. Just stop the break animation and restart it, bingo you're free.

Killer: The Nightmare/Freddy Krueger
Perks:
-BBQ and Chili/Hex: Devour Hope
-Surveillance
-Surge
-Pop Goes The Weasel
Addons: Nancy's Sketch/Nancy's Masterpiece and Outdoor Rope/Jump Rope (depending on availability of rare/uncommon, usually try and mix one rare with one uncommon)
Playstyle: Try not to tunnel anybody, and slug anyone who I've previously hooked, even if it was over a minute ago. End chases fast and focus on keeping up gen pressure; sacrifice early gens to ensure there are three constantly under surveillance (literally) that can be easily defended by walking or through Dream Projection™.
If using Devour, then Snare the totem and try and defend it as best you can, but don't make it a priority. You can win without it.
If using bbq, get an easy down and use the Pop/BBQ/Projection synergy to easily defend key gens. Eventually make areas unsafe and snowball from there, Nancy's sketch/masterpiece help in snowballing through easy teleports. Wait till endgame, and they can't do gens without you instantly knowing.
Averages 3-4 kills.

Only thing I can think of on console is, like mentioned above, rebind your struggle button under options > controls. Preferable to something on the left side of the controller, for example on switch make it one of the d-pad buttons. There's no way to remove it completely ubfoe, but you can try and make it work.

Well, but one side don't show a want for balance in this game but instead want easy wins. I wish it were not the case and the game could be made into something fun, but those people just ruin it. They're the same ones that loved to abuse certain things before that got changed.
I play both sides and its infuriating to see this behavior on each side. I just want each killer to be viable at higher ranks... but then I see what Oni's like on console and it just reminds me what side they're more likely to listen to... : /
Ultimately, I'm more sympathetic to killer players, but I see where both ''sides'' are on issues. I may have an opinion about them... but that's what discussion's for.
Fun fact, the reason Oni is so much worse on console is due to poor optimisation and the existence of a controller preventing the nice easy flick. It has literally nothing to do with survivors wanting easy games and oni being nerfed; it's like Nurse all over again.
"One side don't show a want for balance"/"I know what side they're more likely to listen to" you've literally just admitted that you're more biased towards killers ("I'm more sympathetic to killer players")?

I feel a core problem is that a surprising amount of people seem to have convinced themselves that balancing works like a zero-sum game.
People genuinely act like you have to take 2 BalanceTokens from side A and give them to side B to buff them. Just look at the almost automated whataboutism that arrives in threads about certain subjects very quickly. Moris and keys, gen speeds and tunneling. People act like it's impossible to discuss something without going "BUT WHAT ABOUT..." or "DON'T TOUCH X BEFORE YOU TOUCH Y, OR ELSE!" and it derails and makes threads constant repeats.
But honestly I wish posts that genuinely try to use "lol ur a <role> main" as an actual arguement should just be instantly classified as shitposting or trolling. Absolutely worthless garbage posts.
Honestly me too, it brings nothing to the argument and just makes the whole discussion flop after that.
It's funny how you bring up a mori change and everyone says entitled survivor main, you bring up a key change and everyone calls you an entitled killer main; like can we not all get on and agree both sides have issues?

It's good to hear the devs are granting y'all Bubba, but I'm curious. I played DbD on my Switch and the game had no players. Does anyone at all? Obvi I planned on sticking with my PC but wanted to test.
I'm really low rank killer on there because EU queue times are God awful between ranks 20 and 16 so I can't be asked to wait min minutes for that. Survivor is decent though; it takes a while for your first match but after that they're pretty quick. A lot of the same people, but that's helpful because you learn each others' playstyles.

Same, I picked up Franklin's from the shrine last week. But, I decided to pick him up for the switch so I'd have the same content as I do on my Xbox account. Plus, he's only $2.50 with the Black Friday sale.
On a separate note, it says he's "coming soon," yet I was able to buy him, have him in my roster and can level him up, sooo.....?
The dlc is coming soon, probably when Nintendo authorise it, but you can still buy him through cells.
-
Shirtless beefcake David lmao
-
Considering how it's not out in many of the more popular countries, particularly the US, England, and maybe Canada, I doubt that anyone really knows. Additionally, constantly posting doesn't really help your case.
-
It's coming up in the next chapter so I assume that it's gonna come to consoles too, since it was advertised more as a feature of the update rather than dedicated servers.
-
I'd love to but server issues rn make it impossible; I'll edit my comment with results if I find the time to play.
-
Nah when I'm solo and I feel like I'm with a swf I just play as I usually do, although this kinda is what you're saying cause I chang my style depending on my teammates' styles. If they decide to let me struggle then their teammates can save em, this chest is more important. If they insta-save me with bt partway through the game and I manage to loop the killer for a while, then you can bet I'm gonna be saving them at endgame so they can escape. If they wanna genrush then I'll try my best to get the killers attention and loop, or if they wanna loop I'll try and get as many gens done as I can.
Example: a while ago I had a Meg sandbag me by showing my locker to a spirit on purpose, so in return I refused to heal her and because spirit is spirit she died soon after, may count as greifing but she brought it upon herself imo; whereas in that same game a David decided to save me safely and helped do gens, so at endgame he got my bt and we both escaped. Just run perks which are good for almost any situation and change it up depending on their style, works like a charm (or run meme builds like Head On and hope your teammates realise).
-
David and Dwight, hands down my favourite DBD ship, but Jake x Dwight ain't bad either.
-
Fun fact as someone who also views these forums on a daily basis and often reads threads to pass the time:
I see a lot more people crying about survivor mains crying than I do survivor mains actually crying. If anything, these forums are just a killer-sided echo chamber from what I've seen. Recently there are hardly any people who say they main survivor.
And as said before, some of these complaints are actually justifiable. Old legion was unfun to play and to face, he had to be changed ASAP. Yes, they need to give him a full rework, but they didn't have the time. They'll visit him one day, I'm sure.
Freddy was not unplayable; I hit killer rank 1 several times as old freddy. New freddy is amazing, slightly above baseline. Two major complains I've seen are "spam snares" and "forever freddy". Spamming snares was fixed by making his power more consistent with that of hag or trapper- or anyone really- since he now loses bloodlust. That goes with what the devs want, consistency, and honestly I'm inclined to agree. Forever freddy as well needs to go; it isn't fun for both sides. Survivors become immersed to all hell, and everything takes so long.
Nurse is still top tier. What's your point?
Pig wasn't nerfed because of survivor mains. She was nerfed because EGC meant that if traps were saved until then and placed on everyone it'd be literally impossible to leave in time, especially when the timer went from 3 mins to 2.
Spirit? Yes she needs changing. She needs a tell or something to allow viable counterplay (cool, perks, why should I use 2 perks as a solo survivor to counter a 1/17 chance. Cool, her glass lights up? Skins cover it. Her hair resetting is not viable to anyone playing on low because it basically isn't shown. She needs something concrete to work with).
So honestly I don't see your points here; killers more often come to these forums to complain than survivors, and when any survivor does bring up a point it's met with "Entitled survivor main".
-
Personally I think hitting several Head On's in a match, like above 4, without going down. Best part is I even managed to get a killer grasp escape from it; all of it solo. Super satisfying.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
“And that's why Survivors hate Spirit. Their sense of choice isn't reactionary - its just a random choice they make and they hope they are correct”
Sounds pretty much “horror” then. This is demonstrated in many films, and Spirit successfully brings this into the game.
So many of you seem to forget that’s what this game is meant to be as Survivor: a horror experience.
My issue, though, with your argument here is that it's meant to be a game. Games, by definition, are meant to be fun. It may be a survival horror game, but it's a game nevertheless, like F13 or LY:TN; and that fact should overrule all else. Its a game, it needs to be fun for everyone involved (ik genrush etc but that's a whole new topic). Movies need to be entertaining, games need to be fun; it's two completely separate ideas here.
-
Depends who it is. I've had people who facecamp me for daring to use HO, whereas other killers let me go for getting off the stun multiple times in a match; the DS-HO-Firecracker Wombo Combo is most likely to cause a facecamp, whereas saving someone with it is most likely to result in respect (as well as salt) because that's really hard to pull off solo. So yeah, it all depends on the player themself.
-
Okay this is just my opinion, but I'm sure some others would agree with me here. I'd much rather the event, and the game as whole, actually be playable? It can't just be me that wants to be able to load into the game and have things working properly; I know there are a lot of bugs in this game but it's playable rn. From what I've gathered from the forums, if the event/update released today, it would go horribly and we'd all be screwed until they released a fix around the same time if not later than currently.

Ohh that's what you meant; I assume because the sale isn't bugged right now that would continue as usual, would be my best guess.
-
The old Halloween costumes (I assume you mean the Hallowed Blight Wraith, Huntress, Claudette, etc) have always been on sale for cells regardless of the time of year since release; I see no reason why that should change. Same with the Withering Blight collection.

@Akarate_Dolphin said:
@Thehoodedone Extended chases are good for emblems?
Technically, no.
You'll want to 3 hook every survivor. This basically guarantees two of the four will be iridescent. Obviously the longer the game goes on the better the gatekeeper; but gens are fickle things and that completely depends on your killer and the survivor team. Finally, you want lots of chases, but short chases (under 15 seconds is ideal I believe). Over 10 (I think) of these is an iri chaser.
Its definitely a challenge, so good luck
-
So obv you got the list on the wiki but for anyone who doesn’t know, or for those who can’t be asked to check the wiki, I’ll try and explain em all below.
Cursed - you’re affected by a hex perk; find the totem and clenase it to remove this effect.
Blindness - You can’t see auras for it’s duration.
Broken - You can’t heal to healthy.
Deep Wounds - You’re on a bleedout timer. Mend yourself, or get others to mend you, before the timer hits 0, else you’ll go down.
Endurance - You can tank an extra hit.
Exhausted - Any perks known as “exhaustion” perks (perks which give exhaustion) cannot be used. The only exception to this is Adrenaline.
Exposed - You go down in a single hit.
Haste - You move faster.
Haemorrhage - You bleed more.
Hindered - You move slower.
Madness - Skillchecks become harder, you’re easier to track, and sometimes you’ll scream, notifying the killer of your location.
Mangled - Slows down healing speeds on you by 20% (an extra 3.2 seconds)
Oblivious - You don’t hear the heartbeat, nor are you affexted by any perks which impact the heartbeat.
Vision - increases your capabilities of reading auras.
-
The perks you mentioned for survivor do not reward failure. What they do is allow a survivor a chance of escape. The only potential ones I could see on the list would be self care cause you're injured and dead hard cause you're injured, but most high rank players use it for distance not a hit dodge anyway so..?
Deliverance, sure. But then to activate that perk which doesn't even matter because you're likely to be unhooked anyway, you must succeed in not being found first, beating your team to a safe hook safe, making sure the save is safe, etc. To activate it you must first succeed.
NOED, on the other hand, does reward failure to an extent. The perfect balance is, according to the devs, 2 kills 2 escapes. Obviously everyone has differing opinions on a win and a loss, but that's that. NOED swings the balance of the game so much more than adrenaline or deliverance or dead hard or balanced do. It makes loops redundant when you're moving at 119% speed, with an instant down ability on top of that. It's literally a low risk high reward perk. There's an argument of "Oh, they're only using three perks for the majority of the match" but so are survivors using adrenaline, and I've seen a lot of complains on that on the forums.
I get that killers were one weak, infinites; old old ds; old ds; old mom; old exhaustion- they all stacked up to a bad time and NOED came along as a saving grace. But now, it's not needed. Survivors are weaker than they've ever been (though they can still put up one hell of a fight), and killers are only getting stronger (except pig, rip pig). NOED is no longer needed as it once was, killers don't need that extra boost at endgame unless they're bad, and so it's seen as a crutch perk because it is at this point.
Now let's face it, the most common argument is "Just cleanse totems." Now in a swf on voice comms then that's all well and good, you know exactly how many totems have been cleansed, you know who's doing what, and it's all fine and dandy. But solo survivors? They need to waste time finding totems (with small game or without), they need to see if they can find spots where their teammates have already cleansed totems to keep count, they need to spend the time on the totem all the while they don't know if anyone on their team is doing anything useful or if they're just sat in a bush doing nothing.
Tl;dr the perks you mentioned don't fit the criteria, NOED has overstayed it's welcome, and the people it needs to punish the most (swf who gen rush) end up getting punished the least.
So imo, it needs a change.
-
It may be Sunday for me but oh well I'm still gonna post it.
My personal favourite is when everyone's played a good game. It got to endgame, you got between 3 or 4 kills and everyone had lots of fun. All survivors are running with around 20k points and you're here with 25k-30k, a merciless, and hope for your next game. But the best bit is seeing how saltless players can actually be. Killers complimenting you on your lopping or your stealth, survivors saying you were great at chases, just everyone in the game having a great time. That's what I love about this game and strive to achieve in every match.

5 and 13 is a range of 8 not 6. So it's still not the appropriate ranks.
Though it is pretty close to be fair.
But its actually because op is rank 10. 13 to 10 is a gap of 3 and 5 is a gap of 5 (6 obv. being 4) all of which are inside the allowance. I don't think it's overall rank difference, its rank of the survivors compared to the killer.
-
What I find interesting is that you're saying that it's a horrible user experience (idk where you are in the world) but over here in England it's actually amazing; I love it so far as both killer and survivor, tho there have been a few lag spikes here and there as killer it's not unplayable and overall it really enjoy it so far.
Admittedly tho I haven't played any other killer but Freddy so huntress and plague may still be bugged to hell.
-
Honestly if your computer isn't too good I'd say to dodge this on pc, but if you can you could get it on switch? Obviously that'd need switch online (like 17 quid for a 12 month subscription) along with the base game, so it's a hefty investment.
If you want to wait and see on your computer I'd suggest getting it during a free weekend they do (it may be a while yet so you'd have to be patient with this) to see if the game would run smoothly, and if not then you could get the switch version? Clearly because of the money it'd take to get into it (almost 55 quid on switch)
-
Also they don't cancel animations but placing a snare just before a vault point will force them into a medium vault, much like the clown, allowing lots of free hits. I honestly prefer these to pallets, as all they do it allow a false sense of security for the survivors and only if they're asleep and lacking half their braincells
-
Yeah it's cause steam is down, most people in EU have it
-
I've died on first hook like 7 times so far, killer games I'm mainly focusing on letting everyone have a good time and get loads of bps so they haven't been too bad. Survivor games tho are absolute garbage. Teammates are horrible, killers are so sweaty that they're practically their own storm cloud, and to top it off I've just been kicked from the first decent game by eac because I had task manager open in the background.
So overall pretty good.

Ahh I see. Do you not get stressed at all when you are going for high ranks?
Yeah I do lmao, hence why I like to stay in ranks 10 - 8 for matches where I can ensure everyone has fun.
Back to the op question, basically ruin gives easier matches imo. That's about it. Useful when rank climbing but playing without it can help you improve more so than with it.
Build I've found works w/o addons on Freddy is Discordance/BBQ/MYC/Pop. Adding in addons just makes it stronger (except kids drawing, never use kids drawing)

What is your playstyle like? Do you spread the love or do you focus down one after another?
What I try to do is spread it, to the point where I ignore survivors if they're the newest unhook or slug them and basically refuse to chase them until I've hooked someone else; probably explains why a lot of games get down to exit gates or 1 gen left lmao.
Btw mostly experienced at around ranks 10 - 8 (w/out ruin) since they're the most fun ranks for me, but I can hit rank 1 with or without ruin (but only on Freddy lmao)
-
@VESSEL said:
If so, what are the main differences between games with and without?
I've started playing without ruin on new Freddy after a while and honestly I haven't noticed that large of a difference, or if anything I'm doing better. Mainly because I only keep track of kill or no kill and so if I got a 4k at 5 gens or 2 gens makes no difference to me. So yeah, I've been getting the same amount of kills, or if anything more because it opens a perk slot up for something else.

Soooo i have been playing with an end game build for a while and i feel like it isnt working for me.
i used to run NOED, Blood Warden, Remember Me and Ruin.
i wanna swap out BW and RM but idk what to replace them with
Okay so my personal load out works with any addons or just no addons at all, and it includes:
-Hex: Ruin/Discordance:
Ruin is just ruin, discordance gives key information about where to pressure to get the most disruption. Depends how confident you feel without ruin.
-Make Your Choice:
Especially potent when you hook near a gen, MYC is a really solid choice because it gives free instadowns or just forces one survivor into hiding.
-Barbequeue and Chili:
Lethal combined with Pop and gen teleport, not only do you get double bloodpoints, it gives some amazing information.
-Pop goes the weasel:
It's a flat out 25% gen regression (that's like, 20 seconds of a gen gone) on top of regular regression. Honestly such a good perk on him.
Like I said, this build can be used with any add-ons you like and get decently high - rank 3 being my highest since the rework without ruin or add-ons. Especially since the BT nerf to him, he's stronger than ever.

Can I just say that @Doddle28 says it how I feel. Don't camp intentionally before endgame and don't tunnel on purpose.
Sometimes a survivors own bad luck will lead them to been found very soon after an unhook. I feel a little guilty about re-hooking them the second time but the third time I'll pick them up and then let them go.
However, when you have played nice but have no kills and there is only one gen left, some friendly light tunneling seems appropriate. Everyone has had time to have some fun and earn some points.
Yo cheers my dude @JawsIsTheNextKiller
-
This is gonna sound really bad and like I lose games a whole lot but I typically try to abide by the following:
-Don't facecamp or camp intentionally whatsoever before endgame - during endgame patrolling is fine but not like hardcore camping.
-Don't tunnel on purpose- if you down the same survivor twice in a row then slug em and find someone else
-Don't be an ass to survivors, they won't be an ass to you
-Be as nice as possible in post-game chat
-Encourage others to play as fair as they can
-If I feel bad for them I'll farm for a bit but end up with them all on hook most of the time.

Spoken like a true killer main. There is a reason why killer queue is x2 as long as survivor queues, best way to earn blood points, and far easier to do so than survivor. People who actually believe is harder to play killer are kidding themselves. When you play killer the only person that has to perform is you and you're host. I've heard the lame argument that i'ts more stressful to play killer, but that is dependent on the person. I actually have less stress playing killer and more playing survivor. How is that possible? well, when you are getting chased by an average killer and buy the team tons of time, and watch no gens get done, its stressful. Guess what? at the end of the game you get to see that average killer that camped you for juking him forever have x3 your BP.
Also, as killer you ain't telling anyone about their connection as that's not possible. Nice meme, bro. I'm sure you convinced some idiots that killer is hard to play, but the devs aren't buying it. Dedicated servers and survivors will have an increase in BP gains and it's well deserved. No more teleports swings through windows for undeserved killers, we will soon see killers that deserve there red ranks and top 5s. GL
I'm confused, you insulting me or you agreeing with me? "You ain't telling anyone about their connection as that's not possible bro." but oh honey it completely is. The ping meter that appears next to survivors' names shows their connection to you, so when they're out here rolling with 200 ping the bar chilling in red and they still ready I have every right to defend myself when they call me out for cheating.
Plus where the ######### did is say killer was easier? Plus I'm not even a killer main! I try and do a 50/50 split to stay as unbiased as possible; no killer main in their right mind wants spirit to be changes (topic for a different time) or agree with the nurse nerfs so I don't see how you came to that conclusion????
Dedicated servers will fix this issue, we know. Cool. I never said I was a good killer either, nor did I say that I'm even in red ranks. I get brutally destroyed at purple lmao. You're arguing here, if I've read this right since you mention nobody else in your comment, with points I never even made. That or your wording is so horrifically off that I can't actually understand what you mean, in which case please clarify, cheers xx

This game just loves to throw you with people not in your region. I was thrown into multiple lobbies from outside the U.S a few hours ago. It's almost feels as if the game wants to make the killer experience easier than it already is. I was playing peak hours and have the best internet you can have in my area, but still I'm matched with these killers.
Also, the people who call others idiots for not checking their ping before the match started are more than likely killer mains. Let's be honest who doesn't want to play versus a bunch of survivors with high ping? These kids probably drooling when they get some noobs that don't check their ping or fortget to.
Honestly no, I tell people to check ping and I'm more of a 50/50 player, if a bit closer to killer. But when I do play killer I take note of anyone with high ping and if they start to ######### about me lagswitching then I'll show them. Aside from that, feel free to face me with 200+ ping, I'll miss most of my swings because you're teleporting around the screen lmao. I'll look at my ping and dodge because I value my sanity and I don't want to break my keyboard, but if someone else doesn't do it I'm fine with it until they get salty.

@PolarBear said:
This sounds good but this will just mean survivors will rush unhooks before the killer even has time to walk away from the hook. There needs to be some kind of timer when you get hooked before you can receive a token.
This concept in general can be pretty easily abused to get the tokens, even if the killer isn't camping.
Honestly yeah it can be, but that's the same with any strong perk. A 30 second grace period should be good but then there's the issue of counting down 30 seconds as someone loops the killer nearby- again easily abused by a coordinated swf. But then again, I honestly can't think of something that cannot be abused while also trying to make a perk serve a useful purpose instead of either "Useless" or "F*ck the killer." Take, for example, the new ST perks- none of the perks are particularly "f the killer" and also imo pretty decent, yet everyone says they're underpowered and weak and useless.

This is correct. The premise is very solid..just needs some tuning to avoid exploiting and itd be a much nicer mettle of man to deal with..leather face players would hate you though lol
What can I say, I’ve been basement-bubba-ed too many times :p
Also apparently the existance of P3 Claudette and trying to stealth even though they complain about looping is enough to be camped, it’s quite funny.
What do you think of the suggestion of the 30 second grace period for a killer to evacuate though? It leaves them enough time to do things around and leave before MoM triggers, and also prefents the hook bombing from adversely affecting the gameplay. If anyone stays near a hook for 30+ seconds they’re either dedicated to searching or a dedicated camper imo, so 30 seconds should be fair.

Well I certainly wouldnt be opposed to making mettle of man a perk to punish dedicated campers , but it must be done with care or it just becomes another f the killer perk
Obviously, which is why I tried my hardest to make it so it only impacts dedicated campers. The whole token system and all, and the fact that not even insidious can prevent it gaining stakcs/procing, unlike bt which doesn’t work vs insidious campers.

Protection hits just need to register better. The only 100% reliable way to always register a hit as protection is when taking a hit while healing a downed teammate, which kinda gives it a little synergy with buckle up: get a bonus if the killer hits you, or get a bonus of which way to escape if not hit by the killer.
Even with protection hits registering better, that gives one of 2 scenarios:
-Swf abuse it, becomes like old MoM
-It remains as useless as it currently is.
Tbh I don’t see the protection hits working.

Hmm..not a bad idea but as you put in encourages hook bombing..even the 15 second timer wouldnt alleviate this..plus hook trading at the end game is quite common and there could be issues there as well
Yeah that’s the only issue I could see is hook bombing and endgame. Though, if a killer moves at 4.6 m/s (4.4m/s for slower, nurse doesn’t count because blink), they can theoretically move the 32m away in under 8 seconds, so perhaps increase it to 30? The killer can kick gens then, which should be enough time.
As for endgame trading, the only thought I could think of would be to just deactivate getting stacks during engame if you don’t already have any - survivors who have been camped can still recieve the benefit while those trying to hook trade won’t be able to activate the perk.
