It's overpowered, but not at nurse level.

For example, with this I could down everyone in let's say 3 minutes. Finding people, first frenzy, they mend, second frenzy.

With nurse I could down everyone in less than 1 minute, and I've done it before.

So yeah, definitely not nurse level strong.

You say that, I've ended a game in a minute as pyramid head so personal experience isn't the best metric

But I feel like I should clarify when I meant strongest. I didn't mean overall strongest but strongest strength in terms of skill put in. Feral Frenzy takes almost no skill to use, you could put on double recharge add-ons, and then it'll be similar to Oni in trying to not give him the first hit except he can just Frenzy you and find your teammates and injure everyone and then if you don't heal you're completely dead. Either stay in deep wounds all game- you die- or need to heal constantly.

Against a killer who can injure people really quickly.

While ruin is a perk that exists in dbd.

  • So... The most overpowered chase mechanic in dbd? Better than even nurse?

    On a 115? Killer.

There are many things this is, and not is chief is one.

  • Yeah the filter is pretty... Restrictive, as of current.

It does its job, it's just rather enthusiastic about it.

  • From a point of view of anything remotely reasonable I'd have to agree with everyone else in the thread.

From a point of view of someone who's off the back of their 12th stridor Spirit game today, this idea sounds amazing.

  • Yes why would people use the offerings to give them the easiest possible game when combined with certain perks. I guess we'll never know.

Sure a good player can hit shots without needing to wait for animation locks but that's not always consistently possible against good survivors.

thats because good survivors do nothing but hold w and you cant get animation locked hits anyway

So the second a killer requires you to play differently against them they're "no fun" to play against? If he's good he's waiting for you to commit to vaulting pallets and windows when he knows his power is a sure hit, you need to fake window and pallet vaults sometimes. His trail of torment in the ground can be a little buggy at times but you probably shouldn't be running around everywhere and maybe crouch around sometimes.

    actually, objection.

a good pyramid head is able to consistently hit shots out of animation lock and end chases in seconds. a bad pyramid head will only ever use their power during animation lock and becomes 30x more predictable

    ||allow me to clarify Re 8 spoilers below||

Technically it isn't. It's linked because of Miranda coaching Spencer at some point, where he took the logo from inside the caves, but Umbrella doesn't technically make an appearance. The BSAA does though and they're up to some really fishy things

I'm holding out hope that one day we get another fixed angle game. But I will admit the RE4/2make over the shoulder is a lot more enjoyable to play imo.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2199146#Comment_2199146

Best level designs, super fun gunplay, the shop and upgrades system, the melee system, the bosses, the entire castle section. It's great.

Also RE is known for having cheesy/downright stupid dialog and taking itself too seriously (RE3make was really bad with this). 4 is the only one that really seemed to understand how stupid it was and leaned into it.

I think the reason I enjoyed RE8 so much is that its basically a RE4 remake in first person perspective. It even has the same level design progression. Village, castle, caves, industrial, etc. Even had a trader.

It also had a HUGE impact on the third person shooter genre.

That said a lot of people dislike 4 (and 8) from what I've seen because it isn't "scary" but I never found RE scary as an adult. They claim it was the "death" of the series when Resident Evil 3 and Code Veronica exist and were almost worse in that regard.

RE isn't scary in the same way Silent Hill was imo. SH was incredible sound design, knowing when and when not to show something, creepy characters.

RE is "oh crap im out of ammo and theres a crimson head ohshitshitshit". Tense horror or jumpscares, not refined like Silent Hill.

Edit: forgot you can also suplex cultists that look like darth maul

Would it be weird if I said that one of the reasons I don't think 4 is the best game in the series is because it's too long? Like Re games are known for being shorter but with a load of replay value and different challenges (either set by the game or yourself) but 4 just feels like it drags on too much.

But I have to admit Leon kicking the ######### out of things is pretty hot

It's worth noting that Resident Evil 4 came out when I was 9. I'm 25 in six months. That game isn't new. And inbetween 4 and 7 was a rough time to be an RE fan.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2199136#Comment_2199136

It's a contentious point for a lot of RE fans but I'd consider 4 to be not just the best game in the series, but one of the top 10 best games ever made.

Yeah I know 4 isn't new I just see everyone always sing its praises as a game and I see why it's good I just don't see why it's the best :/

(but yeah let's not talk about 5 and 6)

I believe that you don't know how my dad felt about the series in the 90s...maybe nowadays it can be seen by younger people, but RE7 and RE8 will never match the ICONIC characters. From Wesker, Leon, Claire, Jill, Ada, Barry, Chris, etc

As a someone who hasn't grown up with the series when you remove the nostalgia the newer games are just... Better than the old imho. 4 is fun and really good but I think the 2 remake is the best game in the series followed by Village. So if it is one of the older characters they'd probably be based off of the remake versions.

Edit: it goes without saying we don't speak of 5 and 6

I wrote that sentence just for you as I knew you'd bite (not even joking) ;)

Do you honestly think she'll mutate like that in the game? If she stayed in her mutated form it would be cool. If I was playing as Jake as she turned up, Id offer to buy her a drink, not run away :P

Honestly if she were to come to DBD I could see her having some sort of mutate power. Perform a certain amount of actions x amount of times to power up and when at full power, mutate and go on a rampage. Probably not her form in-game, because, yeah. Flight. Far too large. Too many teeth.

My point being, don't judge the scariness of a licensed character if you haven't played the game they're from.

Also, Jake couldn't reach to her waistline no offence.

  • Surely they won't pick that Mrs DePetrescu (sounds like a Romanian footballer) over the Mr X guy. She could pass for Tricksters wife I guess, about as scary as each other.

So, I know you said that you don't play Resident Evil. Therefore I'm gonna have to ask you to reserve judgement on characters from a game unless you've played it. Trust me, she's plenty scary in her own right, especially when she corners you because you took a wrong turn.

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning β–²β–Ό

Or that time she shows up from out of nowehere and dices Ehtan's hand off. That's pretty scary too.

Maybe from appearences alone she doesn't look terrifying, but believe me she is. Especially in game, after she mutates.

Or if you're going from the standpoint that the Internet thirsted over her so she must not be scary, allow me to introduce you to the people that ship Leon and Mr. X. Unironically.

Omg hi long time no see.

Also yeah, most your points are on point. I'd like BT not only to lose collision but also lose it if taking a protection hit. If you chose to take a huntress hatchet for someone making an unsafe unhook, you shouldnt both be ok.

Its fairly poor bait, but what's more distressing is how people can't properly adress it. That leaves newer players on the forums who see this thinking it's ok. Thank you for taking the time to do this :)

Definitely not in terms of just taking a protection hit or else it makes the perk completely useless. Killer is camping, hits someone going for a rescue. They have no choice but to try and trade, killer goes straight for the unhooked survivor and BT doesn't work now because it would've been classed as a protection hit.

    But yeah, hi. :)

  • @KlapzCheeks said:

we can read, a lot just choose not to rise to poor bait attempts like yours.

    @Ryan489x said:

    so here we go.

I play more survivor then killer so I have a fair but not perfect understand of some of this.

Old DS used to be overpowered. the nerf has toned it down. (not including original DS)

Dead hard is pretty much a third health state, not many survivor players will admit this but that's what it's used for.

The end gamer collapse is pointless since survivors just wait out the timer at the exit gate just to teabag the killer.

survivors do things for the single goal of just annoying the killer and have no respect for the other person that's controlling them.(yes this goes both ways for killers too.)

99% exit gates are far too common when no one is on a hook. This can actually get teammates killed because the killer is after them and they're running toward a closed gate that could be open.

The game already has things built into it at the survivors advantage. The sound mix is so bad that certain sounds overpower other ones. Fire barrels are louder then gens and sound very similar, gens are louder then survivors grunts of pain. the sound lags behind the action being taken. you can take off from a gen and the killer will still here the sounds of it being worked on for a second and you're long gone. when a gen is finished the bubble that comes up blinds a killer and they can't see you leave even if they're right in front of it.

There are 100% safe loops for survivors if you keep the pace up and don't make any mistakes.

All killer actions have a cooldown with perks to compensate. missed attack= cooldown. Hit=cooldown. pallet break=animation lock. survivors can pretty much stop doing anything and run with no delay and are protected during some animations.

survivors can unhook form any side of the hook; front, left or right. the killer can only hook from the front and at a set distance. This allows survivors to body block and prevent a hook killers can not prevent an unhook at all. Add Borrowed time to that and there's no chance.

Survivors can also move in a way that throws off the games very bad aim dressing. The killer swings and you move one step to the side and the game thinks they were aiming at the rock next to you. that's a huge miss.

There are just some of the things I've learned playing DBD.

So when we play survivors we need to realize that we are more powerful then we give ourselves credit for. If people truly want to balance the game we should look at both sides not just how killers are too powerful and need to be nerfed to make survivor games easier.

And to those who only play one side of the game, Try the other one. sure you may not be as good on that side but you will have a far better idea of happens on that end. I used to be the same "Killers are OP" "killers suck" then I started playing as them and realized that they really aren't as powerful as they appear especially against a well coordinated team.

I hate myself so I'm going to go through all of these points one by one.

Old DS used to be overpowered. the nerf has toned it down. (not including original DS)

You said it yourself, it's been substantially toned down and it's in a good spot right now.

Dead hard is pretty much a third health state, not many survivor players will admit this but that's what it's used for.

Dead Hard being used a third health state isn't the issue. Doing so is incredibly inconsistent and a lot of the time will buy you simple seconds. The primary use is for loop extending without much counter which, I admit, pretty bullshit to deal with. However if a survivor is using Dead Hard to dodge a hit like a third health state, they're doing an exceptional job at predicting or the servers just liked them that day.

The end gamer collapse is pointless since survivors just wait out the timer at the exit gate just to teabag the killer.

The existence of the EGC is to prevent hostage situations and ensure the game can end. It was never meant for lethality, and the devs have confirmed as much many times. It works as intended and does it's job well.

survivors do things for the single goal of just annoying the killer and have no respect for the other person that's controlling them.(yes this goes both ways for killers too.)

People will be dicks, I guess. It sucks but that's what being anonymous does to people :/

99% exit gates are far too common when no one is on a hook. This can actually get teammates killed because the killer is after them and they're running toward a closed gate that could be open.

The timer itself can severely limit time for making plays and resetting, however. 99'ing gates is the smarter move and prevents situations where you could've rescued a teammate if you had just a bit more time. The cases where 99'ing has gotten someone killed are substantially less than the cases where pre-opening has forced the team to sacrifice a mate for a 3man escape. The benefits outweigh the risks.

The game already has things built into it at the survivors advantage. The sound mix is so bad that certain sounds overpower other ones. Fire barrels are louder then gens and sound very similar, gens are louder then survivors grunts of pain.

This one I agree to. The sound design and sound effects are amazing, the implementation leaves much to be desired. There's still the issue of slugs making little to no noise, which can be pretty frustrating. However, in the same vein as this, some terror radius (hey slinger yes i mean you) are also drowned out by everything. Mostly a survivor issue but certain killers aren't immune from it too.

the sound lags behind the action being taken. you can take off from a gen and the killer will still here the sounds of it being worked on for a second and you're long gone.

I've never heard of this happening, nor had it happen to me in approxinately 3.1k hours of playtime. Probably a bug, or someone's connection was being very dodgy.

when a gen is finished the bubble that comes up blinds a killer and they can't see you leave even if they're right in front of it.

Same goes for the scream when someone is hooked, you can't see the killer coming towards you. That's more an issue both sides face.

There are 100% safe loops for survivors if you keep the pace up and don't make any mistakes.

This one I'll agree to. Some loops, such as Suffocation Pit's good window, Storehouse's main building, Saloon (depending on how they run it), all of Gideon, Preschool, etc are really strong and could probably do with toning down. Imo they need to make loops better than those on Hawkins, Midwich, or the centre of Badham, but not as strong as the low-wall loops on Macmillan or Autohaven.

All killer actions have a cooldown with perks to compensate. missed attack= cooldown. Hit=cooldown. pallet break=animation lock. survivors can pretty much stop doing anything and run with no delay and are protected during some animations.

And how would you suggest changing this without uprooting the very precariously placed balance we currently have in place? If you gave a 0.3s cooldown after doing something into a run it would change the entirety of DBD, for example.

survivors can unhook form any side of the hook; front, left or right. the killer can only hook from the front and at a set distance. This allows survivors to body block and prevent a hook killers can not prevent an unhook at all.

Bodyblocking has been confirmed as a legitimate strategy by BHVR, provided it isn't done for a hostage situation. There already exists a hook vacuum in the game provided the space in front of it is empty. Also, omni-directional unhooks was implemented to prevent proper facecamping, where the killer could stand in a way to prevent the Unhook prompt appearing. I fail to see how this is an issue on the survivor end.

Add Borrowed time to that and there's no chance.

It'd be nice if BT gave the unhooked survivor no collision so I can go after the unhooker like I really want to, but asides from that I don't think it's too much of an issue. Very strong perk, yes, but also with the amount of killers who have decided that overcommiting to a chase, being looped for 4 gens instead of chasing any of the other 3, very obviously weaker survivors, is a good idea and will then camp out of spite, it's a necessary evil imo.

Survivors can also move in a way that throws off the games very bad aim dressing. The killer swings and you move one step to the side and the game thinks they were aiming at the rock next to you. that's a huge miss.

Aim dressing is only really an issue when ping goes wonky for half a second or you've decided to, for some reason, play Nurse from my experience. It's not as awful as you're making it out to be.

So when we play survivors we need to realize that we are more powerful then we give ourselves credit for. If people truly want to balance the game we should look at both sides not just how killers are too powerful and need to be nerfed to make survivor games easier.

If we want to balance the game, we don't need to point blank nerf survivors. We need to buff solo queue to 4man on comms standard, buff killers and their mechanics to compensate, and if further action should be taken continue to buff killers or nerf survivors. However, no killer buff or survivor nerf that's too drastic can be taken when solo queue exists in the shambles it currently is.

Alas, as shown in the most recent changes to Small Game, BHVR really don't care about solo queue.

    This.

This one I can agree to, completely wholeheartedly.

I used to be a hardcore survivor main, and I think a lot of my opinions on the game's balance still favour survivors somewhat (though usually I argue from a perspective of fun nowadays). I used to think NOED was a crutch for bad killers (still do ngl), Ruin was/is a crutch, existing on the map is a crutch, DS was fine, as was DH, old BT, and killers that complained were just crybabies. Then I actually started playing killer and my opinions shifted. Currently main killer but that's literally because survivor isn't fun rn else I'd still be a 60/40 player.

But yeah, play both sides. At high ranks. I implore people.

They could use to any time their power, that is right, but even in this days, the power needed to recharge and if you had only 10% of your power, you could also only use 10% of your power.

So don't paint here a picture, as he was able to use 100% and I said above that windows were useless.

Every killer in dbd has a special abilitie. Imo, it is not too much if we expect that survivors are able to learn the differences and some of them learn to handle them.

In my eyes, we have similar thoughts, but you exaggerate, after my personal experience and of many other people that have sadly left dbd in the time between the rework and now and you can also nothing say about "for the health of the game", since you can't know what every player is thinking, or even every potential customer, that plays with the thought to buy dbd.

The only thing we can say for certain is, that after the rework many people had left dbd (like the stats had shown to that time) and that there was a hugh interest to either undone the rework, or parts of it - how the tags in the old forums have shown and of course, dbd attracs to this day less players, because they have nothing to offer, to fans of fast stabbing killers.

How many people would have left dbd, if the rework would had never happened, we can't know, since the rework has happen and so we have no data we can compare.

That are the facts. Without exaggerating.

"They could use to any time their power, that is right, but even in this days, the power needed to recharge and if you had only 10% of your power, you could also only use 10% of your power."

And it recharged quick enough to have an easy usage of 25-30% every couple of seconds, which was all that was needed for a free hit over a pallet.

"Every killer in dbd has a special abilitie. Imo, it is not too much if we expect that survivors are able to learn the differences and some of them learn to handle them."

But you are missing the point here by about a continent. I don't know how I can make this clearer so I've written it all in bright pink this time.

    Polish_20210518_181724304.jpg

Please let me know if you'd prefer it in German. Any other language I'm afraid I can't do.

" In my eyes, we have similar thoughts, but you exaggerate"

Then please go to the opticians because we are disagreeing over anything. We do not have similar thoughts in the slightest.

And no, I'm not exaggerating. See the above pink message.

"you can also nothing say about "for the health of the game", since you can't know what every player is thinking, or even every potential customer, that plays with the thought to buy dbd. "

Correct, I can't. I can, however, comment on design philophies that are and aren't healthy for DBD. Old Legion falls into the unhealthy category. Alongside old old old old DS to old old DS, Mettle of Man, Spirit, release Nurse, Midwich, Saloon, Gideon, etc. None of these are/were particularly healthy for the game.

A killer with no counterplay in the 1v1 is not healthy for a game focused around interaction in the 1v1. If you'd like this in pink too let me know.

"How many people would have left dbd, if the rework would had never happened, we can't know, since the rework has happen and so we have no data we can compare."

No, but we can go through what many people at the time said, which was "If they don't change this, I will quit". Why? Take a guess, here's your three choices:

    1) It was healthy game design

    2) It had plenty of counterplay

    3) It was unhealthy, unfun to face, and had no counterplay in the 1v1.

Let's take a look at the results...

THAT'S RIGHT! If you said answer number 3 you are tonight's biggest winner!

"That are the facts. Without exaggerating."

Please see my previous comments. I have not exaggerated any facts during this entire discussion, despite what your love for old Legion tells you.

Curb your bias. Even stridor spirit mains agree Old Legion was too far.

Edit: oh also dbd around November-March 2018-2019 was buggy as #########, that's probably why a lot of people left. That and old Legion mains who were salty they'd have to play a killer that requires a smidge of effort to down someone

We thinking basically the same, but you forget about it 2 things and there are you either not experienced enough (what I not believe), or you are not honest enough:

-If a killer (every killer!) focus on just one survivor, this survivor will die, most likely. With that - the Legion is nothing special anymore. Not without reason complain so many survivors about tunneling.

-The frenzy time back in the day was shorter as it is today. If you have really tunnel 1 survivor, you have most likely got him down, but only after a long chase.* In this time, any Trapper, Hillbilly, Nurse, Spirit and many over killers would have had this survivor already down, a long time ago (in a tunneling situation).

So if you say something like that above it would just be honest if you either say it not, or "like every other killer, he has no counters in a 1n1".

*Edit: If the survivor had skill.

No, actually. He's not at all like every other killer.

If any other killer is tunneling someone, the team can take hits. Can't do that vs Old Legion. The team can distract with scratches. Can't do that vs Old Legion because they tracked through blood. The survivor themselves can pallet loop for distance. Doesn't matter, Legion just vaults the pallet. Windows? Also doesn't matter. Ran out their power? They could use it at any point so good luck there. Making them miss? Doesn't matter they have no cooldown. Hiding? Again they see blood.

It's not similar to any other killers in terms of the sheer strength of the 1v1. No survivor input mattered, at all.

So no, we're not saying the same thing. Not even the same language.

And in terms of every other killer getting them down quicker it doesn't matter because even vs a stridor spirit some small insignificant part of your actions matter in surviving. There's nothing like that vs Old Legion. Absolutely nothing.

Weak in the 1v4, oppressive in the 1v1. Old Legion is gone and should remain gone and pretend they were anything close to good, healthy, or not uncountable is nothing but fooling yourself

It was. Besides personal experience, there were even video evidence.

The Legion without addons was not more or less stronger as any other killer to that time (if you have know the counterplay), besides obvious worse killers like the Clown and obvious better killers like the Nurse.

With that I don't want to say that the Legion was weak, but she was also not unconquerable.

She was strong with a few weak spots and that was why the addons were so powerful, because they had taken out the weakness of the Legion.

Also what I am saying was and is covered by the killstats of that time. If you search them, you will see that the Legion was in the lower midfield, no matter which rank and that was for reasons.

Please read what I've said very, very slowly for me. Uncountable in the 1v1. There was nothing you could do in the 1v1. Unless the Legion player was literally quadriplegic or lacked eyeballs you were going to die with no input on your side matteting at all.

In the 4v1 no, they were incredibly weak. But in the the 1v1 they were impossible to counter and if you think otherwise you are objectively wrong.

  • Just had to double check.

Yeah, no. Never ever will he reach anything near forgiveness or repentance.

Please change "He was literally uncountable in a 1v1" in "He was literally uncountable in a 1v1 if he uses the exploits and/specific addons" and we are by the truth.

It is a small difference that matters.

Your lovly Legion main from next door,

    Talmeer

    :D

It was also a long time accepted as this until many old players left the game, because the hope to see a fun version from the Legion again had gone down, the more time had pass. 99% of the playerbase today do not really know anymore about what they talk, if we come to this topic. Sadly. The only ones who are left from the past are mostly the haters. Not the people who loved the Legion so much, that they raised the Legion tag higher as the dev's faq video session tags - to a time where this forum had tags on the right side of the screen.

No, because even without moonwalking, Stab Wounds Study or Frank's Mixtape or any other add on combination he was uncoubterable in a 1v1. Unless the Legion player wasn't aware that they had eyeballs there was nothing you could do.

Your lovely person who played legion a lot on their release and faced just as many,

    GoodBoyKaru.

PS. I know exactly what I'm talking about, so does my bf who agrees with me and he's literally a legion main. So do my friends who were around at the time, one of whom is an ex-legion main but has recently moved onto Huntress.

Old Legion should not and most likely will not ever come back for the overall health of the game. If you think that Old Legion was anywhere near healthy or counterable in a 1v1, you are objectively wrong.

Yeah, this IP was created too closely to when the dude did that #########. I believe that people can change and that you shouldn't punish people too harshly for their future endeavors after a time, but supporting this IP is directly linked to when that dude was trash. (I am unaware of how the guy acts nowadays)

I can't remember completely but I'm pretty sure he was a pedo in which case, even if he changes he shouldn't be forgiven imo. There are some things too despicable for redemption

If I'm wrong lmk though cause like I said I can't remember it at all
