I’m embarrassed to say that I don’t understand what the “2S+” means in the abbreviation, being gay myself. I must not be keeping up very well.
But at the heart of it, I’m glad to see BHVR openly supporting our community. Gaming communities in general aren’t very friendly towards people who aren’t straight, white men. Maybe that’s a generalised comment, but that is how it feels. Companies doing this show that they do support all of their consumers, and I appreciate it.
Not every gaming community is like that. For example, FFXIV, another game I play, tends to attract a lot of our community and is generally friendly. Communities focused on PvP elements tend not to be so.
Several (not all) of those outside our community just do not understand it. They don’t see it as necessary because, well, they don’t need it. I’m grateful for those allies that do understand though, and hope that more generations can become more understanding.
Just in case you were actually curious, the 2S stands for. "Two-Spirit", which is a very hugely cultural thing in indigenous communities (particularly in the Americas, I believe). It relates to gender expression and identity, hence why it's become part of the acronym. The + is just there as a catch all for any and everything else that's included.
I won't pretend to be the most knowledgeable, so if you want to know more then feel free to research it. As far as I know, I'm accurate about everything else though

Not to mention we're getting the pride charms expanded this year (including aro, ace, lesbian, bi, mlm, intersex, trans, and more).
As much as I'd love for lesbian Yui, or a brand new lgbt+ character in any sense tbh, I can't discredit the effort they make.
Thank you BHVR 💖

Not that you're wrong but that was nerfed in 8 months. Dead Hard lasted years and object of obsession which was one of the most broken perks they've ever came up with wasn't exactly fast tracked for changes.
You're right, they weren't. And we can only hope the slowly quickening progression of them making changes to problematic things will only continue.

In comparison to their track record, yes. It was still 8 months.

I’m just worried because they seem to always leave in op survivor buffs or bugs for months or years. Yet killers get the hammer within days or just a few weeks. So if the survivor bots or antiface hooks do come out to be very strong or worse broken, how long will they take to fix of balance them? I’ve been playing since 2017, my trust in timely action from the devs got destroyed in 2020.
Tbh let's not pretend like Erupting OverBrine wasn't in the game for 8 months straight. Like they have a glacial reaction time, but that glacial reaction time isn't biased towards one side, they're just slow to act on any and everything.

It's pretty odd I'll admit. To be fair I see far fewer Davids in my games then I used to. The last few months I've barely seen any Davids and I can only imagine that's a big reason why they don't bother to make skins for him anymore.
But are there fewer David's because they stopped giving him skins? Like it feels like most newer Felix/Vittorio (especially Vittorio) skins could've easily gone to David and just... Didn't. So why play David when you can play the characters with the newer skins?
Unless David's playerbase dropped off right around his second tome, in which case I don't think I need to spell out my conclusion there.
-
The game is incredibly CPU heavy, and that's the thing that holds it back on most consoles, not the graphics at all. The only exception to this is Switch, because everything about that console is terrible (and the fact that Tears Of The Kingdom looks and runs as well as it does is an absolute miracle). It could be that your GPU has nothing to do with it (like, I can get a consistent 60fps on a GTX 1660, so I'd assume that'd be easy for an RTX 2060) and it's your CPU that's struggling. My current one (Ryzen 7 3700x) is fine but my old, awful intel CPU from like 2014? I genuinely thought it was gonna explode at times, I don't know how it survived.

I mean there's a LOT of characters they ignore when it comes to skins, I highly doubt it's cause he's gay.
The difference is those characters have been ignored from their release. Adam, Jeff, Jake, Yui, Zarina, Haddie, etc. all got very few or no cosmetics following their release (or in the case of Jake, following 2.0.0 when the Store released). David, however, used to get plenty, to the point where he was considered one of the Four Cosmetics Hogs alongside Nea, Meg, and Claudette.
And while he got slightly fewer when Felix released, so he was no longe considered one of the greats, he still had outfits releasing often enough.
Cut to present day, over a year after his gay reveal, and he has received zero store cosmetics that weren't already in the Rift. Zero. Alongside a pathetic two form the Rifts.
He went from one of the greats, even going so far as to receive the special 5th Anniversary collection alongside Wraith, to quite literally Zero.
The only Survivor that has received less cosmetics than David in the past year (including Rift recolours and original outfits) is Elodie Rakoto, who's another can of worms entirely. I'd like to repeat, he went from receiving new cosmetics every month to the second worst for Cosmetics total.
I don't think it's homophobia on BHVR's part, but there's something going on there, you have to admit it's a bit dodgy.
-
I can't say I was ever a dedicated fan, but I knew of him, and knew about his ALS. I'm glad he was able to spend these past 3 years doing what he loves, and I hope these final few days are able to be pain free and surrounded by those he loves, and who loves him.

having to time it well made survivors sad, so they made it much easier to pull off so survivors would be happy
It was actually to account for server latency and to ensure that it was a smoother gameplay element overall, as previously you'd be blinded despite having turned away because the blinds were calculated on the survivors end. Allowing for the little window means the system could be adjusted much better for when higher latency is in play and would cause otherwise very wonky and unfair interactions.

Because all these perks have huge limitations.
And so does the new one. You cannot use a single exhaustion perk- easily the strongest survivor perks in the game- and any exhausted addons, mindbreaker, or that new Singularity perk, also disable it.
-
@Xernoton said:
I have yet to see anyone complain about Quick Gambit, Friendly Competition and Cut Loose. The other perks all are or were extremely abusable. The reason you don't see them often is because most survivor groups are not good enough to utilize them. This is partly because SWFs benefit way more from these effects.
The new perks are ridiculous. Can't wait to see when the first survivors discover that running at an extra 3% can actually enable some infinite loops again. Or maybe we don't need build to last anymore and run Scavenger instead. Saving 20 seconds on a gen is not enough, let's go with 40. Keep in mind that everyone can do this for the low price of one perk and one item. You do not need to dedicate entire builds to gen rushing when you can do it that easy and save 160 seconds (of 450 seconds).
Can't wait to see when the first survivors discover that running at an extra 3% can actually enable some infinite loops again.
Then why aren't you complaining about Blood Pact, Dark Theory, Teamwork: Power of Two, or even Hope?
-
@Orochi said:
They just sell better. That's it. If someone like Elodie's costumes sold as well as Feng or Nea's, she would get more. It just that simple.
On the flip side, giving more cosmetics to less popular characters makes them become more popular. Adam has been getting more cosmetics recently, and I've been seeing him more. Same with Haddie when her new outfit released.

Didn't think that would be a controversial take but I suppose the new generation of Killer players just aren't built the same as the older ones.
Fr these players would have a meltdown seeing old infinites, double pallets, pallet vacuum, the old meta survivor build, it's insane

This is an asinine argument. The devs have also said, over and over again, that camping and tunneling are legitimate tactics, and when the game first came out repeatedly said that being able to queue with friends was never intended to be in the game, would be insanely imbalanced and they were not going to add it...guess what things the devs have gone back on...go on, take you're time.
Actually they said several times that SWF was always intended, they just didn't have the resources to implement both SWF and KYF before the official launch, so they left it to community vote. The community voted for KYF so that's what was implemented on launch, with SWF appearing a few patches after.

It is a tactic to win the game. The killer’s intention isn’t to make sure the survivors have a bad time. They are playing to win.
"They're just playing to win" doesn't even work here, stalling the game until the servers literally kick you out for not doing anything with your time is a damn TIE

I think the filler tile philosophy needs to be:
Low wall=somewhat unsafe but playable
High wall=safer but LOS blocks to compensate
Too many filler tiles have low walls or no walls at all like Shattered Borgo, but they're also 100% safe. It can't be both and be balanced.
Honestly I think Badham fillers are the sweet spot all maps should aim for with their own filler tiles. Unfortunately, the rest of Badham is a goddamn nightmare

That’s… my point. It either builds so slowly it doesn’t matter and doesn’t prevent anything if someone wants to camp. Or it builds quick enough that it actively incentivizes abusing it. And the proposed information we were given does not mention anything to make an exception for strategic camping in which the timer would be deactivated, even though it would be indisputably stupid to punish.
Example scenarios of the above:
- Multiple survivors hooked close together
- Survivor hooked near a 3-gen
- Survivor hooked near an important gen (which gen is important can change throughout a match)
- Survivor hooked near an important totem
It either builds so slowly it doesn’t matter and doesn’t prevent anything if someone wants to camp
Which is good and fine, because the devs specifically said that they don't have an issue with camping but with facecamping. It's a mechanic against facecamping and was always marketed as such (like it's literally called anti-faceamping, not anti-camping), because the devs realise that there's no way for them to realistically punish all forms of camping because often it can feel necessary. It's the stand in front of a survivor until they die, not moving at all type of gameplay that they want to penalise with this addition, not camping as a whole.
And if a Survivor is able to loop you within 5m of a hooked survivor, then there's something going terribly wrong there.

Good idea to have a limited item to disable them, but if we consider them similar to the skull merchants drones, wouldn't the recharge speed just be way too fast for that to be effective
idk i just answered your question about if there was a way to destroy them

Hopefully theres some way to destroy the biopods, otherwise it would seem like another 3 gen killer
EMPs spawn around the map as a new limited item, similar to Wesker/Nemesis, and can be used to disable the biopods before infection.

The whole point of camping is to trade the repair progress of the other 3 survivors for getting 1 of them out of the game. Proxy camping still exists and is completely unhindered by the anti-camp mechanic. And since proxy camping is the most effective way to camp, this mechanic does absolutely nothing at best. At worst, the hooked survivor can unhook themselves in the killer's face early and die faster by being rehooked.
So camping is ultimately made stronger by this mechanic. Not weaker.
I'd argue that this isn't that bad though, no?
The system was designed and advertised as an anti-facecamp system, not an anti-camp system. The devs literally went out of their way to say that they didn't want to affect proxy camping with this change, because they understand that a lot of the time it's quite necessary (ie a gen is almost done nearby, you need to defend a totem, someone is running you nearby, etc). So with proxy camping being unchanged... That's literally what they were going for?
I don't see how it's a net buff to camping. It ensures that Kindred will become meta again for solo queue, so that players know to just stick to gens, but if a survivor is able to wait the 58 second mark before escaping, going down again, then being picked up and rehooked (all of which takes more than 2 seconds) completely for free then it's just more time guaranteed for the Survivor.
-
@Mushmallow said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3433138#Comment_3433138
No. The timer should not progress at all if a survivor is in the range. 16m is also way further out than facecamping. It still punishes the killer for camping even if it's because two survivors are hooked close together or next to an important generator or totem. The hooked survivor instantly sees when the killer is in a (currently) giant range. And there was no mentioned mechanic that lets the killer know if they are in the range.
The timer does not matter. It can't be longer than 60s, because that's the default hook state timer. The range means the killer has to step a huge distance away even if it would punish the killer for a good play (camping multiple nearby hooked survivors or hook near important gens/totem). If it takes a super long time, the killer steps out for a few seconds immediately after hooking, then steps back in for the rest of the hook phase. Makes it mostly worthless. If it's even a tiny bit quicker at all, or if survivors are already waiting nearby when the hook first happens even if it takes a super long time, it again punishes the killer for making the only smart play available to them. Chasing any of them is a misplay. Leaving the hook is a misplay.
Ergo, the timer doesn't matter. Either the timer takes too long and the mechanic is pointless. Or the timer doesn't, and it's free range for abuse.
Say, for example, the timer increases at a rate of 10% a second within 5m (10 seconds to be able to escape) to the survivor and a rate of 2% a second within 5m and 10m (50 seconds to be able to escape), and within 10m and 16m at a rate of 1% a second (100 seconds to be able to escape). These values are decreased by 50% per survivor within a 16m radius. Suddenly, you could proxy camp without fear because you're guaranteeing second stage anyway, and you'd only have to step away from the 16m range for ~23 seconds and you've got a guaranteed kill (unless a survivor is nearby), however if you decide to. Facecamp or camp very close the survivor is able to escape within the hook state limits. You're not punished for going to a gen to kick it, because you have 10 seconds to get out of the 5m range, and ~13 to get out of the range entirely, unless other survivors are nearby.
However, if the values were 50% within 5m, 30% within 5-10m, and 25% within 10-16m, and de teased by 10% per nearby survivors, it would be very easily abused.
Do you see my point? You cannot conclude anything off of pure guesswork, you can only estimate what you think will happen based on previous experiences with these types of mechanics (that BHVR has been trying to get right since literally Year 2 when they first answered a question about an anti camp mechanic)
