This video ^^
This right here, as well as other Nurse vids from this guy, basically taught me how to play Nurse without ever touching her once. They're old but because her kit basically hasn't changed they're still very applicable in terms of general tips (if not the builds lol) and just watching videos and the like can help you massively figure out blink distances to charge times, how to angle your camera, etc. You pick it up while just watching and subconsciously absorbing the info, which helps lessen the learning curve.
Outside of this, don't use Shadowborn unless you have to. If you use it while learning then you'll always have to play with it, less you have to relearn everything without it.

this is a bad thing?

What is different in the mobile version lobby?
It shows the survivors the perks, items, and add-ons used by each player and who is using them.
-
People realised that you had to have an ounce of skill as her when Ruin/Undying/Pop/Tinkerer Crow/Ring Blight was right there so they all migrated to continue thinking they're good at the game while the people that were actually good as Spirit in the first place stayed.
Notice how this is a consistent pattern, too. First we had Nurse, with her 4 blink no downside combo. She was hit, and they dropped like flies (and now she's finally had the bugs fixed, people still aren't playing her as much as they used to because she still takes effort now). Spirit was next, she got hit (not even hard) but everyone still cried nerf and moved to Freddy, who was substantially easier and only minorly weaker. He was hit next so, realising that Spirit still took no brain power when playing with the strongest things, they all went back to her, culminating in the IW change to Stridor and finally the overall Spirit nerf, meaning they all moved to Blight now. I'm sure if he ever gets hit, though, they'll realise that DCB/MDR exists as a combo and once more we'll be seeing the Rise Of The "Spirit Mains".

I have another quick question for anyone who can answer: Does Overcharge count as a good Skill Check for the purposes of Brine? Meaning, if I run Overcharge in combination with Brine, it'll tell me when someone taps the gen whether they hit the skill check or not?
Also, can survivors still tap an Overcharge gen and do the skillcheck while running away, or will getting off the gen before the skillcheck is complete fail the skillcheck as with normal skillchecks?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2857486#Comment_2857486
Make Your Choice seems like it would work well for that sort of strategy, too.
I do end up wasting some time with tunneling. I'll get hit with DS and BT each once or twice a match, but it usually makes the game if I manage to kill someone and get rid of half the pallets on the map with only a couple of gens done.
I've tried playing without BBQ the past couple of games, and it's not usually hard to find a gen to kick. Overcharge/Brine/Dragon's/Pop has been helping me give survivors a hard time even when I ######### up the early game.
I might try experimenting with going after the unhooker or not tunneling altogether, but I feel like killing someone quickly and defending the last few gens well would still do more than spreading out the pressure. Of course, a lot of that depends on me not ######### up chases and actually getting hits. If I miss half my hits, take a couple pallets to the face, and then get DS, BT, and DH all in a row, there's not going to be enough time to off someone before three or four gens are gone.
As someone who plays M1 killers on Stadia with a controller over an unstable connection, playing scummy helps me a lot. Maybe once DBD's Linux/Steam Deck build is done and I take the time to retrain all my muscle memory to use the mouse, it can be different.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2857493#Comment_2857493
I probably need to pay more attention to her invisibility. I can already mindgame pallets pretty well (as an M1 addict, I absolutely have to know how to do this), but figuring out how to use that to my advantage would make a lot of difference if it means cutting down on chase time.
Thing is, on paper, she's stronger than most of the other M1 killers. I just haven't been winning with her as much for some reason.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2857502#Comment_2857502
I mean, that's fair, but I was only comparing her to Clown because they're both M1 killers. I suppose that Clown might be considered stronger than most other M1s since his buff, but, again, on paper, Sadako can do more than Ghostface can do (especially since I don't use his instadowns unless I have a daily), but I'm destroying games with Ghostface and noticing less success with Onryo. That might just be luck, though. Maybe I'm just getting better rolls of the dice with him.
The lullaby means that she's not really Undetectable, and it only really works on survivors who aren't paying attention. With Ghostface or M&A+DR Michael, your first hit is always free, but that's not always the case with Sadako.
I do see Spine Chill sometimes (and I run it almost every game myself when I play survivor), but the lullaby will tell an especially paranoid survivor when to dip out, anyway. Maybe I could practice approaching gens sideways, because I've seen it done and it might help my game with Myers, but it just seems so tedious.
I have mostly been chasing and even approaching gens when Manifested, so that's something I could work on for sure. I haven't been playing attention to a lot of the nuances of her power, particularly how to use invisibility in mindgames or Manifesting/Demanifesting to counter bodyblockers or ambush people.
Back when we had the old ranking system, there were people who managed to keep Rank 1 with Myers and Clown. It wasn't common, but any killer can be played at high ranks if you put the time in. I do get what you mean, but.
Ah yeah if you're on Stadia I can see how that'd be a pain in the ass, especially with validation. If you want I think I have a game from yesterday saved, I can edit that down and send it here? Made a streamer mald in it lol

What's wrong with Pig's story? I thought it was good
It fundamentally misunderstands the character of Amanda and John, their dynamic, and basically everything.
Tapp's story is amazing and solves a major plot hole. Amanda's is... not so
-
It's actually very impactful when you have the Ring Drawing addon and they don't have COH.
Outside of that, it's only really happening when I force it (which I can do semi well btw) and have to make myself tp in chases to people with a tape to build that sweet sweet condemned. Usually I can figure out their TV after a few seconds of aura reading (thank you BBQ) and guard it to force condemned but outside of that, never.
-
The only reason I could tell this was bait is because I sort of know you from seeing you around if you were someone with like sub 300 posts I genuinely wouldn't be able to tell the difference
-
I've been trying to go for 12 hook games, the usual, and can't really describe it but I'll try anyway. Hit and run at the start until you hear a boon come up, which is when you then just have to commit to someone because COH. Corrupt helps with this a lot.
Get a down, get a hook near a TV, BBQ proc to tp to a gen, pop it. Chase whoever is near and if you can't find them tp back to the hook, contest an unhook if it's gonna happen. Worth noting, I do not tunnel. I don't wanna be DSd and I can get substantially more pressure going for the unhooker instead, who's usually injured by this point. If they try and bodyblock with BT, go into your power and walk through them (you can do that !!). Get the down on the unhooker, rinse and repeat.
Focus on 3 survivors to pressure, maybe bug the 4th one a bit but you cannot bother all 4 at once. The ideal plan is to hook survivor 1 -> 2 -> 1 -> 3 -> 1, and then you can do whatever you want really. That's how I've discovered you can win consistently.
My build is PGTW/Corrupt/Enduring/BBQ, just for the record.
It sort of feels scummy, especially because I really don't like camping or tunneling, but I reason with myself that I'm leaving the hook and then coming back when I see someone returning to contest the unhook and they should've been stealthier about it.
If there isn't a COH for the record, she is mad strong and you'll probably be able to 12 hook dominate through hit and run alone.

Sure.
And vice versa is also possible.
This doesn't mean that she wouldn't be better off with some fixes.
But the point of this post was never to debate on if she was good or not, if she needed changes or not. It was about how fun she is, and like I pointed out a character can be fun without being good. You can still enjoy playing as someone whilst recognising there are flaws in the kit.
"she's fun" / "really enjoyable" / "really captured the theme well" are quotes from the op, and absolutely nowhere is the topic of balance brought up.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that there are only "two" specific writers... then what about all the mediocre ones like Clown, Wraith, Spirit, Dwight, Meg or Jake?
Is there a third writer who writes meh stories?
Honestly it's a theory I read about.
There's two different styles of writing. One has horrible grammar, like no speech marks, random paragraphs, badly edited, etc. One is near impeccable in terms of grammar, even if the stories can be a bit naff.

Earlier than All-Kill.
But All-Kill did have one of the best writing in DBD history, so I guess not all of their works are bad.
Like I said, 2 different writers 🏃🏻
-
It seems like there's 2 writers. One of them really understands the characters and writes incredibly well, making compelling stories that match the characters, and one of them made the tome for Nurse, Bill, and Pig.
-
Eh I was called a speed hacker today while playing as her because apparently I was faster than normal?? Obviously the DH/COH gamer said it but still.
She's fun, to play and to face imho. Especially being able to go through survivors, because people don't realise you can.

@StarLost said:

She's...ugh.
I saw everyone and their mum playing her on launch day, because she's so damned iconic.
Now...I haven't seen a single one since Tuesday.
She has amazing visual and audio design, but mechanically - she's just sort of crap.
- Her stealth and phasing are almost completely useless without addons. Played a few games as her today and even with me actively trying to time mindgames with the phase 'pulses', I didn't see anyone do anything different or make any more mistakes. I know that as a survivor, I never had trouble keeping track of her.
- Condemn is mostly negligible unless you get sent to Midwich or The Game, and even then you won't get a mori unless someone makes a huge mistake.
- Her teleports are about all she has going for her, and the cooldown timer + ridiculous RNG on TV spawns (far too many tend to spawn in totally useless configurations) + the ease of negating any dangerous TVs near you means that it's an okay tool, but not enough to salvage her.
Onryo is a cute killer, but she brings nothing to the table that other killers don't bring better. Wraith has more consistently useful stealth (hell, several killers do), Demo and Hag have more reliable mobility and ambush potential.
If we don't see some pretty major love given to her, she's going to be Twins V2.
Tfw someone can still be fun without being good

There's a difference between trash talk and slurs, we've been through this.

I think it was last years anniversary stream they even said BHVR has 900 employees and the team for DBD is 300.
bro im so good at guessing
-
Right, this argument is used a lot, and it's horrifically misinformed.
BHVR as a company, using your figure, has 900 employees total. Do you genuinely expect that all 900 work on Dead By Daylight, and Dead By Daylight alone?? Absolutely not.
They have security. They have janitors. They have maintanance, culinary staff on-site to provide the team with fresh hot food each day, general IT staff, etc. That alone slashes that 900 figure down by quite a bit (I will arbitrarily say that it cuts out a third, I don't actually know the exact amount).
Then, we get to the sections that work on the games. Games, plural, because BHVR does not work exclusively on Dead By Daylight. Around half or more of the remaining staff (around 600) are outsourced to other companies and studios will collaborate together. For the sake of argument, I'll take the generous figure of half. That leaves us with 300.
Of those 300 employees, we have a skeleton crew that works on-call weekends to ensure the technical aspects of the game (ie servers) remain functional. We then need to split these up even further, into people that work on new content, and people that work on existing content (with the new content team being much larger). The Realm Beyond initiative had it's own separate team. The balance department decides on both new and old content, and works with the design team, who do the game. Concept artists, 3D modellers, graphic designers, level designed, people that work on the backend, customer support- I think I've made my point.
It absolutely is not 900 employees that work on DBD. It's probably a lot closer to 300, and the groups of people that work on new content are even less. Not to mention adding in more could potentially worsen x-efficiency and make the marginal cost a lot higher than you'd gain productively.

I thought you were having fun playing as Sadako
I am having lots of fun as Sadako. Sadako is not Wraith, Bubba, Myers, Billy, Freddy, or Doctor, all of whom I've also been playing (some for dailies, some for memes, and Billy for the archives). And as you know, if you see a killer that isn't using 4 meta perks, it's obviously the time where you BM, yell slurs in endgame, and overall be a dick to someone daring to try and 12 hook instead of immidiately tunneling someone.
Also I got Eyerie of Crows as her quite literally 9 times yesterday, so I'm afraid of playing her because if I get it a 10th time I will genuinely uninstall.
Moreover, notice how I said "players" not "survivors". You, I'm sure, can empathise on the solo queue experience (except tonight has been quite bad on the slur front). Because survivor is a genuine hellscape filled with nothing but anger and all my friends have quit because of it leaving me no choice but to solo, I'll be returning to killer and playing Nurse and Pyramid Head.
Sadako doesn't have all perks unlocked, after all.
-

I sympathize.
However, a lot of people have phobias. Of all sorts of things.
This does not mean that media needs to conform to account for every possible phobia, hell - even every common phobia. Because that would be absurd - especially considering that hemophobia is more common than the spider spookies. And yes, I realize that I'm behind the 8-ball here because we've already started down this very silly road.
As an aside: have you considered seeing someone about it? There are some very effective therapies for people with phobias that severe (the only person I've ever encountered with arachnophobia to the point where they would literally vomit when encountering a spider was essentially unable to conduct their life properly, as any spaces they couldn't see would be a maddening source of fear for them and anything that even looked like a spider had them scrambling into a different room).
Yes, I've considered it but considering some... rather awful past experiences, I genuinely do not trust anyone to help with this.
-
Non-cat owner or expert here but there's this one youtube channel, "Girl With The Dogs" that does animal grooming (don't let the name fool you, she's groomed disabled ducks on there before). She's from Canada but goes through the grooming process, from trimming nails (if you have to) to bathing, drying, brushing, etc (bathing + drying being useful if your cat can't clean themselves properly for whatever reason). She also goes through her tools quite often and links them.
Even if you don't take any advice from her, she grooms fluffy animals so you should watch her anyway
My name is Vanessa and I have been grooming pets professionally for 10 years. I own my salon called Perfect Pooches Dog Grooming located in Ontario Canada. This YouTube channel was created to show the good, the bad, and the fluffy sides of pet grooming. I wear a mask when I work to limit the amount of hair and dander I breathe in on a daily basis. New videos posted most days at 4pm, with a surprise video here and there. -

Good question lol
Because some words should never be said, in any context, like slurs. There's absolutely no reason to use certain words except to explicitly hurt the other person, and these words can have a major effect.
The current filter is far too draconian, and blurs words it shouldn't while words it should are let fly. But some things should never be spoken, regardless of context and especially not over a damn video game. And if you're someone that says slurs when you're angry, then reevaluate yourself.

I don't like silent Hill but Pyramid Head has my heart. Everyone else just makes me think "Why not just play Pyramid Head"
-
A year with too many licences and 3 killers that were incredibly unappealing to me. Definitely my least favourite year of playing, though I have to appreciate PR + DMS finally giving us new perks to deal with as survivor instead of ruin undying tinkerer on literally everyone. Wish we had more original (and creative) chapters but alas the only og this year was Artist, bringing us the next flavour of anti-loop no mobility. Engaging.
Though, Sadako has been a breath of fresh air for me. She's not like any of the recently designed killers and, while weak, she's so much fun for me to play and it's reinvigorating my love in the game.
Especially because my PH build is Ruin/Undying/BBQ/I'm All Ears rn, I have had essentially no new killer content I enjoy since Blight. Sadako has given me new perks (Floods of Rage on Freddy and Napkin, Call of Brine + PGTW on people) and a new killer I like.
I hope Year 6 brings more killers like Sadako (as in, they feel fresh and exciting) and a nuclear strike to COH.
