I really really REALLY like the design choices made for the Clown. He's perfectly creepy, his coughing and wheezing were masterful implemented and all of his cosmetics are good. He's just really weak currently.
Spirit is my favourite Killer to use and is my second favourite design wise.

It does.
At close range I'm not even sure what they were going for. I'll need to see it in motion I think.

I'm awful as the stalkers XD especially Ghostface. Hag is really intuitive for me, especially against bad survivors.
Same. Stalkers are not my thing at all. lol
Its Hag/Spirit/Clown for me when I play Killer. Which is rare.

Yeah, we humans aren't the most rational creatures. I've been known to play Hag with an ebony because last game a 4 man bullied me as Clown.
My fiance does the same thing.
He gets a SUPER terrible game as the Clown, who he loves using but gets bullied so easily, so he goes into the next game as Myers or Ghostface and just kills everyone with an Ebony.

A big problem is that there are different thoughts on win conditions. Some is to rank up, others is to get as many kills as possible.
Ranking kind of means nothing as there is no incentive or rewards to be a higher rank so the default win condition means to get kills for many. Removing a tool that many killers used to get momentum on their kills.. they will resort to other methods... like slugging to get their kills.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/984793#Comment_984793
Kind of agree. IDC about the ruin nerf... but the last update pretty much explained survivors frustrations and irritations....with no mention on any alleviating some for killers so it def feels one sided. I know that's not all true.. considering BL just got a good balancing... but perception is half the battle.

The thing is, a lot of killer mains feel like recently, at least, devs have been only listening to survivors. Nurse got nerfed. Oni got nerfed. Freddy got nerfed. Now Ruin and (arguably) Doctor. They feel like the only way to get attention is by antagonizing survivors.
I know. Its just like how I can't expect Killers to assume that I am going to be an easygoing, laidback survivor when all they've had to deal with is teabagging flashlight loopers all day.
-
Its sad that so many Killer mains are taking it out on Survivors.
I know there isn't much way to take it out on the Devs but there are those of us who are just as upset as you are about these nonsensical changes. 😥

Right, except it was to the point that they were penalised for attempting to learn, and many new players quit very quickly for a number of reasons. Ruin's prevalence is definitely one of them.
Meanwhile Ruin had no effect on good players at high level, and so was useless but run anyway. Now it will actually have a function.
Ruin is used in 45% of all matches (80% in Red Ranks) it is not the prevelant. Not only that but how many low level/new killers even use Hag or have Ruin unlocked? The matches New Players get into are more likely to not have Ruin than to have it.

What's wrong with Recolours?
The Hag Recolour actually looks half decent, escpecially compared to the original (imo), and I may run it if I ever use Hag because she has the worst Cosmetics in the game and this one is fine.
-
Sounds like a bug since its tied to your Terror Radius.
Could be one of those bugs where when you reduce something to 0 (or less) it, or something tied to it, roll around and become an extremely high number. They'll probably have to address this because it might become a core playstyle on the Doctor to map-wide blast the survivors.

I still think the power Ruin had especially at lower ranks was too much. It could slow down games too much if players weren't good enough hitting great skill checks. My problem with Ruin has always been that it's balance varied from rank to rank.
I do get the argument that it's simply something suvivors can learn and get better at. But I feel like hitting skill checks is a kind of skill that shouldn't be that important. It's definitely not a skill that is particularly fun to practice.
But as you say, the problem is that some killers need old Ruin, and there's no compensation for Ruin's nerf. I do fear this will cause less killer variety at high ranks.
I do think that Ruin did increase objective time by quite a bit against survivor teams that aren't that good at hitting skill checks. Of course, against really good survivor teams, Ruin wasn't as effective.
Also, I meant that Ruin is the only perk to help slow down the early game. Though it's true Corrupt Intervention is also decent at that. The problem is that survivors can just hide until Corrupt Intervention deactivates, and then start working on gens, making it only reliable on certain killers. PGTW is really good, but it's better late game and doesn't help alot with the first 2 or 3 generators.
I am very disappointed to see that the devs still haven't made any response to the sound bug. I've always defended the devs saying they are not biased towards any side, but this right here does not help my case at all. Ignoring a serious issue for killers for so long and still not addressing the issue in the next big patch is honestly a bit pathetic in my opinion.
Oh. I misunderstood some of what you were saying. Thanks for clarifying.
I agree with most of this. The rest I'll just agree to disagree because we look at the game differently when it comes to skill checks and less skilled players. 👍️
-
Playing as Survivor? Nothing really, unless you suck super hard at chases/avoiding the Killer. The other Survivors are another issue, but as for what the player them self has to do? There isn't anything really demanding.
Playing other Survivors is the most "demanding" thing about playing Survivor. And this only matters if you care about escaping, but BPs and Pips are easy to get without escaping so, outside of challenges/dailies, there is no reason to get upset if you don't escape.
In my opinion.

Who told you they were made for new survivors?🤣That's like the stupidest thing I've read so far, I can't say anything about the changes because I'm not new to the game lmao you're misinterpreting what they posted in the patch notes.
You probably don't know this since you most likely started playing the game two weeks ago but the older players are the ones that keep this game alive, not the new ones. Most of the new players play this game for a month and then they leave it alone because of how unbalanced it currently is.
Lmao.
What?
I am a little lost by what you are saying here.
Are you saying that I am saying you can't say anything because you aren't new? Are you saying that you can't say anything because you aren't new? Are you saying the changes weren't made because players find Doctor and Ruin frustrating? If you are, can you show me where I misinterpreted the notes? How in what I even said made you jump to talking about keeping the game alive? Its obvious new players don't stay around and shouldn't be the focus of changes.
So confusing. I really don't understand why I should have to explain this, but I will:
The Designer Notes state that the Doctor changes were made, and the main focus was, how frustrating the Doctor was for some players to play against. The same is said about Ruin. Players who find the Doctor and Ruin frustrating to play against are not players who play both sides, and they are not players who have played the game a lot. But the changes were made to help these players.
The fact that these changes were made, based on Survivors who find these things frustrating, your statement that the only people who can talk about buffs/nerfs are players who play both sides (and play a lot) and "that's the way things are" holds no water (this means its not accurate) because reality has proven you wrong. New players are causing buffs/nerfs to the game, no matter how much you or I wish they weren't.
Did you read the Notes?
-
As a Survivor: I am, usually, really bad at loops and running the Killer around.
As a Killer: I use to play Killer regularly but after a while I started getting anxiety and over-stressed so I avoid playing it now even though I would like to play it from time to time.

You can't "take a stand" if you're a killer main, same thing for survivor mains, you have to play both sides in order to "take a stand" buddy. Only people who have been in both situations can talk about nerfs or buffs, and that's just the way things are
The changes were made for new Survivor Players because they complained about how they find the Doctor and Ruin frustrating to play against so your statement doesn't hold any water. 🤷♂️

" It was just too effective at low ranks, or even just any survivor players who can't hit great skill checks fairly often. It was just a perk that could be extremely powerful against any survivor team that isn't great at hitting skill checks, being too effective in most matches."I agree that it needed a change, but not for this reason. It needed something because many feel they NEED it, even if they actually don't, it makes things more comfortable and predictable. Changing it to make it so Survivors don't have to learn how to play, either by hitting skill checks or finding the totem, is not a good idea especially since it doesn't address the fact that, again, many players feel that they NEED it.
"A second objective shouldn't increase the objective time as much as old Ruin did in most matches, it should just add a bit more objective time."It didn't really increase objective times by that much in most matches, it increased it by a bit but it wasn't as powerful as some of you are making it out to have been. It did make things more manageable and predictable in the early game though.
"The biggest problem is that Ruin, the only proper perk that helped slow down the early game"PGTW and Corrupted Intervention still exist, and they are both proper slow down perks.
I haven't played this game for a bit, so I don't know for sure, but a month ago survivor queue times were longer than killer queue times, so I am also a little worried about survivor queue times becoming very long now.Matchmaking was changed before Christmas break, they changed it so its basically a free-for-all.
There's one last point, and that's regarding the sound bug. Now I haven't played the ptb yet, but I didn't see any mention of the sound being fixed and killers actually being able to hear footsteps of running survivors again. That's because they haven't fixed it yet. They haven't even acknowledged there is a Sound issue, again. Just like last time. And the sound issue involves more than just footsteps. The thing that is most frustrating about the Sound Issue stuff is that you will experience it every game, it is not a "sometimes it happens" bug. Its every match.
I agree with everything else. Especially the statement about the Clown. Rip Mr. Weezey.

"Self care is NOT overrated. It is very useful, and very good perk to have. It is NOT a waste of time."I can't even continue reading after this.
Do you know what's better than spending 32 seconds healing yourself (32 seconds AFTER finding a safe spot to heal)? Spending 32 seconds on a Generator. Those 32+ seconds you spent focusing on healing yourself? Someone else has pulled off a hooked survivor and healed them and they are both doing gens or even popped a totem.
Do you know what's better than taking Self Care? Taking a Med-kit. Don't want too? Take Pharmacy. But taking a Med-kit is better, why? Because you free up a Perk Slot and you, honestly, shouldn't be healing yourself that much anyway. Do you know what's better than both of these? Inner Strength.
Lets turn that into spending time using Self Care to completely heal yourself 3 times: 3 x 32 = 96 seconds. That's that's a whole Gen and 16 additional seconds spent on healing yourself. Can't really help the team when you are doing that.
32 seconds is a long time, and the times when you actually need to spend this time healing yourself are rare, and by that time the game is usually a crap feast. If you need to heal yourself more than once a match you shouldn't be using SC. Either find a teammate, or do something productive until you run into one.

Survivor Queue is so bad right now on PS4 that all of them coming in at the same time doesn't mean they are automatically SWF, just four of many players waiting for someone else to play Killer.
-
I agree that it wasn't very good, and unreliable. Survivors either ignore it or get rid of it as quickly as possible.
But that just begs the question of why it would be nerfed (BHVR said it) at all? Especially nerfing it based on a small number of survivor players.

That was before the matchmaking changes though.
I forget what the margin is but it's based off the highest ranked survivor when queuing. I have never seen a rank 1 survivor against a rank 20 killer after the patch.
They changed the matchmaking before the Christmas Holidays to make it easier for Survivors to find games actually.
They acknowledged that matchmaking wasn't working right and that they would be looking at it in January when they returned but would be making matchmaking more open (I can't remember the exact word they used) while they were away on holiday.
It was during the Q&A before the break.

Naturally. But if that's the case, those who can't play at a high level will derank to a place where they're more comfortable. That is the point of a ranking system, after all.
Its weird you would come into a thread asking for Devs to address something but you ignore the OP and post in the thread anyway

I get why people are upset, they have been relying on it for years, but plenty of killers do fine without it. Long term, this will be good for the game. We might have to be a little patient though.
I feel like the real issue is being lost when I read post like yours, and many others.
Sure, there are people upset by the Ruin change specifically, but they are REALLY upset about the fact the change is 100% aimed at Survivors. Even if they don't really realize it.
This is the real issue of what is and has happened. The way they explained why they were making the change, how it is beneficial, and why Ruin was run, it all seemed like it was thought up and written by a Killer main making a satire piece poking fun at BHVR and their perceived leaps of logic and Survivor Bias. But its it was actually written and presented by BHVR.

I mean, I can agree. Sometimes my team dies off before we’ve completed a generator because we’ve searched for the ruin against a great killer.
Its completely RNG. Sometimes it’s removed immediately. Though, it is aggravating searching for the totem, that’s not really grounds to change it because it’s their game that randomly places it.
Exactly.
Though, if one finds they have a hard time finding Totems on a regular basis they should run Small Game or something. That's what I did until I got better at locating them.
-
When playing Killer: I don't care about the Ruin change as I never run Ruin anyway if I play Killer. Which is rare.
When Playing Survivor: This change is silly and unneeded. It isn;t frustrating to play against, it helps you learn to hit those Great Skill Checks, it is easy to counter if you need to get rid of it and it made Gens at least take some time. If I even go against a Killer who isn;t running it, or any other slow down perk, I just pump out Gens without a care.
Mainly, my Criticism for the change is the reasoning they gave, the "issues" they listed (#3 literally makes no sense being listed as a "frustrating issues playing against" Ruin) and the benefits, besides the first one, are not benefits and none of them are benefits for Killers.
They changed a Killer perk so that the new one, in comparison, gives something to the Survivors but takes things away from the Killer with no real attempt at balance being made. Its maddening.
I think that Stream from, like, 20 days ago may have had something to do with these changes tbh. McCote (and who ever he was playing with) had a hell of a time finding Ruin. It took them like 20 minutes(?) and they basically stopped doing Gens while it was up (I think they did 2 or something).
I'll have to look for it.
Found it:

New Ruin is extremely powerful late game. It must be a Hex Perk, or it would be OP as hell.
Imagine stating that gens regressing at 2x speed (so like, what, 2 seconds of regression for every second a survivor worked on it?) when they aren't being worked on is extremely powerful late game.

Here's one for you:

However, everyone has a right to express their thoughts and opinions on changes that occur. You can't tell someone they shouldn't state their criticism because there's already been too much criticism.

I was basing my opinion purely off the designer notes (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/117488/). I did not know about or read the leaked notes.
Even still how in anyway is this a buff?
You explain how you think it is, but its not. Thinking about how long the delay would have to be for it to be balanced it would have to be at least 1.5 to 2 seconds. The current AoE field allows you to tag survivors and see where they are, with these changes you can't really do that due to the 60 second cooldown.
Then you have the Snap out of it Changes that you decided to ignore. Huge nerf. No doubt about it.
-
It'll be a whirlwind.
Looking forward to it.

Its not just Killers who are upset though.
Those of us who main Survivor but aren't completely biased know this change is being made for nonsense reasons.
You like the changes and, honestly, you should ask if you should be happy about that.
I use to HATE the doctor, but I learned and now he's cake. He's only strong against new players. Making him weaker against them but not making him stronger overall is a very bad move and even a new player should be able to see that.
