yeah the devs are biased just like how..

    they removed double pallets

closed the strong windows in maps like wretched shop building

    removed insta blinds

nerfed decisive strike / brand new part / insta heals

nerfed balanced landing and made the exhaustion stop if you run

or do you want me to link you some videos of 2017/2018 with all of the stuff above?

and no the chance of you getting gen rushed and seeing a depip squad swf every game is rare you probably spend too much time on a single survivor without switching or going to other targets all because how dare the survivor loop me he must get CAMPED and the ruin change is good (the new rework is bad) but it is good because too many bad killers rely on ruin to get them kills AND very good killers use it to make getting kills even easier and about doctor....the only thing I am happy about is that 3 gen will become harder for him but i would prefer for them to not change him.

Are you just going to ignore the changes that happened to Killers over the years? Oh, you are? You just want to push your bias and manipulate the truth? Yes?

    That's cool I guess.

  • No.

That's 50% of your perks for a Totem that probably won't last that long and Surveillance is usable without it, this just makes it you so you don't have to kick it.It wouldn't really help since the chances are you aren't going to have that many Gens regressing since Survivors usually pop Gens out as fast as possible without moving between multiples.

  • The fact you think its only killers who are upset shows how ignorant you are.

  • I think happy players are what's good for any game's health and upsetting a LARGE majority with a nonsense change based on nonsense reasons is not.

    🤔

  • I made a joke about this in a another thread. lol

  • Gen doesn't explode when you git the Skill Check though. 🤔

I agree with everything said here. I’m usually the one to think, “you know, this might not be as bad as it sounds,” but now I’m skeptical. Early-game was always the most difficult since Survivors often spawn together gathered around a generator. Without Ruin or Corrupt Intervention, you’ve already lost a portion of your objective. I don’t use Ruin usually, but I know well enough that without it the games go by fast. And by fast, I mean FAST!

Also, as mentioned by different user, Ruin is a hex. Hexes tend not to last very long anyway, so their effect has to be concerning for Survivors so that they’re attention is diverted from generators to totems. If they make Ruin regress generators while they’re NOT being worked on, then Survivors will be incentivized to repair even MORE to counter Ruin’s effect, thereby making the generators go by even FASTER. That sounds awful to think about.

On the other hand, I’m thinking...

I feel like the devs are hiding something. I know for a fact no human is dumb enough to realize that their game is, excuse me, a bit outdated. They recognized that Ruin is in fact a very important tool for slowing the game down in the devlog, so why would they change it? Maybe, they’re changing base gameplay to balance this out? Maybe not slower gen times, but perhaps something else. They’ve been quiet for some time now, so we never know. I’m hopeful as usual.

And if I’m wrong, I’m sure they’ll listen to the community and revert the change.

Why, if they were going to change something to make this Ruin change make more sense, would they hide it? If there is something they are keeping from us they made a dumb decision in revealing the Ruin changes alone.

  • They want to phase it out so it becomes a PvE games where four players play against an AI Killer. /s

Survivor is honestly so easy I don't see how anyone can complain. I only play solo survivor and I rarely use 2nd chance meta perks (typically run kindred, detective's hunch, spine chill, and a random perk) and I have no problem staying at red ranks.

I run a similar build as Survivor. SpineChill + Kindred with a mix of Small Game/Detective's Hunch/Alert/Fixated/Inner Strength.

Press x to doubt https://imgur.com/a/9bipeqm Leaksbydaylight leaked the ptb patch notes for 3.5.0. They are also removing ranks from the tally screen it's a big brain fix for their ######### matchmaking lmao

Honestly wouldn't be surprised at this point. 🤷

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

The entire PTB patchnotes were not detailed in the original post by the developers.

There could be balance changes made that we are unaware of currently. Please wait until the PTB before making such assumptions.

I am not making assumptions. I am using the info we have on the Ruin Changes and discussing the Ruin changes. If they've changed other things to accommodate, then we'll see that when it happens, but from what BHVR themselves have told us I am not making any assumptions.

  • @Peanits said:

I would definitely say give it a try first. Having played around with it, it can be pretty nasty once you get some pressure. Combine it with Surveillance and you also get some outrageous tracking (since generators automatically regress). You'll always know which generators are being worked on.

@Peanits The Perk needs to be worded better. It isn't 100% clear that they start regressing automatically. Sure, its says "when they are not being worked on" but few people seem to realize that once survivors stop working on the gen you don't need to kick it, it immediately starts regressing by itself.

  • Well, for me it is:

    1. You rarely encounter a Meg who is a team player when you are playing Survivor.
    2. Megs, on average, just seem to be more toxic than any other Survivor. Toxic ones aren't defined by a specific cosmetic (ex. Nea) or item(ex. Laurie). Cosmetics and items just make them worse.
    3. Her cosmetics are, mostly, similar. Making her look like a sweaty, dirty scarecrow that smells like bad cheese.
    4. TRIPLE PIGTAILS

    lol....

    'All we have is anecdotal'

Proceeds to explain that 'far more people' is statistically significant and claims my point as an outlier.

Here's a tid bit for you.

Over time the devs have consistently removed or nerfed the aspects that allow survivors to survive (vaults, pallets etc.), while buffing killers (bloodlust, more one-shot/instant find mechanics, end game hatch). Survivor mains did one of 2 things since release. Left the game or migrated to playing killer. The only survivor mains left are ‘new’ survivors who have no perspective or my favourite; killer mains that ‘play both sides equally’ -.-

If anything your 'far more people' is just an indication of bias, because survivor main have disengaged. Why stick around and comment when you just witness nerf after nerf.

I even have a list for you , that was put together BY A KILLER MAIN. Who didn't realise he was showing me all the survivor nerfs killer buffs. He's tried to highlight it as 'things that have helped survivor' but they've either been nerfed or removed.

    1. Pallet Vacuum

    2. Exhaustion recovering while running, meaning potentially 2 Sprint Bursts, 2 Balanced Landings, 2 Dead Hards, in one chase.

    3. No Entity blocker, meaning infinites were truly infinite.

    4. Instablinds

    5. Instaheals

    6. Self Care pre nerf

    7. Many killers were in a worse spot, Hag, Trapper, Wraith, and especially Freddy, all of them being great examples before getting a few QoL changes.

    8. Insane amounts of pallets on maps.

    9. Old DS

    10. Old Mettle of Man

    11. Survivors prolonging the endgame for no reason before EGC.

    12. Hatch standoffs

    13. No Bloodlust. You could run a killer around the Shack for the whole game.

    14. window vacuum,

    15 insta gens(old old bnp),

16 half of the infinite windows (now half of buildings that had infinite windows have them closed/nerfed/50% to spawn or its ironworks of infinite)

    17 Ballanced landing creating infinites

    18 hook respawn

    19 gens took less time

20 no exhaust (so you could run every speed perk)

    Lmao.

Please stop, you are just as bad as the people screaming that BHVR only nerfs Killers and make LONG posts listing only Killer nerfs.

Stop. Survivors are not leaving the game, and playing survivor is still laughably easy and relaxed. There's a reason I basically only play Survivor.

And, anyway, to find a game on PS4 from my experience since September is about: <1min as Killer : >5mins as Survivor

  • Imagine a Dev defending this by comparing DBD balancing to the balancing of another game. However, said game is from a completely different genre, that is played completely differently and is notorious for its out-of-left-field balancing, obvious favourtism and random nerfs/buffs that literally no one asked for.

    ...

People DC because they want to DC. I’m sure they’re aware of what BPs they’re losing. Believe it or not, BPs are really easy to get. Sometimes you just want out of a game.

And every DC makes subsequent DCs more likely since they all know the game is now much more in the killer’s favor. That’s probably why the chain reaction of 3 DCs

Maybe you should spend less time judging people and more time studying your spelling.

    Upvoted and lol!

    Basically what you said.

As someone whose played since release I don't really need more BP. Even when you consider I purchased the new dlc, consider that I put points into a survivor whose perks I will never use and into a killer I'll never play.

The OP scenario has no impact on me. In the game for 5 minutes or last person standing, either way, meh.

As a killer if you have a d/c and you want more points then slap some survivors for awhile instead of trying to hook them. Because the chances more survivors will d/c increases exponentially. I know some people will reply to that idea with something like 'BUT THAT'S NOT HOW THE GAME WAS INTENDED'. So I'm telling you right now chill, you play how you want to play, but copy the OP post, so its easy for you to paste it later 😀

I'm just glad the DC penalty is coming so we will have less people DCing because they get slightly miffed.

Also, I feel bad that the only thing you care about in a team game is yourself but that's cool I guess.

  • Imagine creating a thread asking for Killer buffs and list the Hag and the Huntress as two that need them but never mention the Clown.

  • GF is definitely not a worse Stealth Killer than Myers considering Myers is only really a stealth Killer in EW 1 (and sorta 2, but not really).

  • So many people complaining about them as if they should be able to be done without working for them.

This is Tome IV. Its suppose to be hard and what we got was a joke. Its easier than the last one.

  • I like it when I face Stealth Killers.

Except Wraith. I am terrible at playing against Wraith and always end up dying first against him no matter how hard I try, lmao

  • My BF just got it while running Hag and going for the Daily Challenge.

He wasn't sure he was going to get it but he wanted to try anyway. His build was:

    Rank 3 Ruin

    Rank 2 Iron Grasp

    Rank 1 Mad Grit

    Rank 1 Monsterous Shrine

I forget what add-ons he was running, but the Survivors kind of ran around stupidly and he was able to get it.

  • They obviously aren't toxic.

Do some Killers consider them toxic? Yes.

  • I play both sides. Sort of.

    Main Survivor.

    My mains are:

    1. Kate
    2. Nancy
    3. David

As for Killers I mainly only use the Spirit but I use the Clown and Hag at times too.

  • They need to be harder tbh.

  • Probably used an add-on.

Also its weird seeing someone complain about the Trapper and it not be about wanting him buffed.

  • I thought this was going to be about the Map item.

I should have realized it couldn't be because no one cares or speaks about Maps.

  • @T2K said:

Well they ruined many of my games. survs running around doing chests , camp for unhook, search other survs to heal them, etc.

Killers try to hook all in basement is by far the most annoying one for me. I even had matches where the killer let me wiggle out to make the way across the whole map to hang me downstairs. What a fun experience.

As killer I got easier games. Otherwise I felt no impact.

Are you seriously acting like these weren't things survivors did regularly before the challenges came out?

  • I am getting match with basically any rank currently. The only time I care is if I am running Killer, since I suck at it. But as a Survivor its whatever.

  • If I see someone Gen-tapping I go to the Gen and start doing it with them. Its funny but after that Gen I stop doing it. Its not a big deal, things are going to get done soon enough. 🤷‍♀️

You can say that but I still have a hard time believing it.

The meta is extremely boring, and I don't mean only for Killers.

Playing Survivor, I can guess 75% of your build before the game even loads.

Probably can't guess 75% of mine, specifically, but I know what you mean. Basically all survivor are running the 4 of, like, 6 perks and its boring.

As for Killers, I rarely encounter slugging Killers on console. Ruin, PGTW and BBQ are all pretty common though.

This month? I'm talking about the month before and the month after the Big Legion Gameplay Update a while back.

By "this month" I am referring to the month in question, the month after the change.

I was just pointing out that making this argument about the changes making people less likely to DC is faulty as its hard to definitively conclude that the changes to Legion are what caused people to be less likely to DC.

Though one could argue that people were less likely to DC after the changes went live because they saw them as a nerf and felt no reason to DC against an even weaker Killer.

    🤷‍♂️

  • @Almo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/935131#Comment_935131

The first big Legion update did not significantly alter their killrate. It did, however, lower the DC rate against them by 40%. So I remain unconvinced that it was a nerf.

Or people were just less likely to DC this month,

I'm just saying, you are making an argument for causation when it could have just been a coincidental correlation that has occured.

  • @thereals3vin said:

So a 71.2% kill rate at red ranks is 12/17? How do killer mains continue to say the game is unbalanced? That means the top killer is likely above 75% or close to it. I understand the numbers get some inflation from weird things but damn. 1/4 chance to win as a survivor and yet we have all the advantages and the game skews towards us. 🤣

    Sigh.

    This is getting tiring.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Most of the maps favor survivors to a hilarious degree if they know the layout and know how to run the structures. Hawkins and Sanctum are new and arguably killer sided, so that has been a nice change of pace. Something like Lerys has a couple busted loops, but maps like Haddonfield, Ormond, or Crotus Prenn don't even pass the initial sniff test in terms of balance intent.

It what world is Sanctum Killer sided?

The Killer Shack spawns next to a jungle gym. Its insanely dark. There are countless places to hide. The grass, the stones...

  • I've encountered a couple of sound bugs that have occurred basically every match, besides just the footsteps:

    1. Popped Gens sometimes don't make any sound to notify you it was completed. Weird.
    2. Opening chests doesn't make a noise until you start looking through it? Again, weird.

I'm not even sure what happened but sounds are really bugged lately and its extremely noticeable.

  • @Peanits said:

You only need to be on the generator while it's completed, not do the whole thing by yourself. I'd suggest tossing on a perk like Bond to help you keep track of the other survivors. If you're working on a generator with someone else, you're less likely to miss out on one going off.

    Thank you Peanits.

I was worried I would have to be the millionth person to tell someone this. But now I can just copypasta your response if it ever comes to that.

That's uhh not how that works at all. Length of study doesn't correlate with validity of study. He could just take the data from the month before the changes and the month after and he'd probably see something similar (unless you believe that there are significant outliers in the 3 months or for this month that are skewing the data).

One month of data is plenty of time to draw conclusions. It's not like legion changed radically.

So you are just twisting things to make a point?

They didn't take a month before and compared it to a month after. They took 1 month of data and compared it to 3 months of data, that includes additional information to understand the data better, and said it shows a net buff.

You keep going into threads saying "most people don't know how to read data" but have proven that not only are you unwilling to talk about the stats directly, but have some sort of superiority complex where you act like you are more intelligent than everyone else, without providing any substantial argument, and that's the end of it.

You sound like someone who looks at percentages, says they prove whatever they say they prove, and ignore the numbers that make up the data.

    Here's a semi-quick example to explain what I mean:

A pet adoption center posts the data about the kinds of cats that have had up for adoption over the last 3 months, and the number of each type that was adopted. This includes "In the last three months 38 Calico cats have been adopted. That's about 60% of the Calico cats we've had available for adoption."

Then after some changes they release new data specifically about Calico cats spanning a month saying "100% of Calico cats were adopted this month! They are getting really popular! Amazing!" And they don't mention that they only had 10 Calico cats available this month.

It means literally nothing to just look at the percentage other than that of what was available 60% were adopted over some previous 3 months while 100% were adopted over this other month. It doesn't mean, as they state, they are becoming more popular. And leaving out numbers makes it useless in comparing it to previous data because each "percentage point" may not be equal.

But because the percentage is a higher number then they can state it because people like you don't care about the actual numbers.

If you can actually explain how leaving out numbers, and not providing where you got these numbers, provides usable and acceptable data and how percentages alone are enough to conclude a definitive conclusion then that would be nice.

I guess taking people at their word is good enough for you though.

Edit: I meant to add that you mention "outliers". As if outliers in the 3 months is the only thing that could cause these not to be comparable. Wouldn't it be more likely that there are outliers skewing the data of the provided 1 month data? We have nothing to go on so we can't say either way, but to bring up outliers as only pertaining to the 3 months is, frankly, ridiculous.

    Or, you know, whatever.

  • You still have a chance to escape. It may be extremely low, but there's still a chance.

So, I mean, they were technically correct.

  • Without other numbers we can't really come to the conclusion you provide us with: that it was a net buff.

Taking a month and comparing it to half a year of data and saying they are completely comparable is questionable, at best.

Not only that but you didn't provide the "popularity" numbers. So you gave us half the stats, but state that it is enough to conclude it was a net buff? I'm not so sure about that.

    Maybe I'm too cynical. 🤷

  • Changing the look of things isn't an event.

If it was people would have even less of an argument about there being no Halloween event (even though there technically was an event lol).

  • I've seen her quite a bit honestly.

She's my second main even though I've only seen like 4 episodes of Stranger Things and barely remember her from it other than her mousey face.

I like two of her perks a lot. Fixated and Inner Strength are some of my favourite perks in the game. Her cosmetics aren't great, and all of her pants look terrible, but that face, those shoulders and the way she runs are all borderline uncanny valley and I live for it.

  • Getting the most points doesn't mean you were the best player.

Hell, the person who got the least could have done all the Gens themselves.

But Sure let's use BP as a metric.

  • @Revansith said:

I see that matchmaking is so broken the devs hid ranks saying it was a mistake they could be seen. There is no way a rank 5 should be getting ranks 10 lower, I was playing solo (rank 15), and the matchmaker is supposed to stop at six ranks higher (rank 9 I guess). The other option is to remove SWF from ranked matches. If players "want to play together" they can do so using KYF only.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/740/ADKPX5I841ML.png

Its bad enough the stupid rift challenges are making it impossible to have a normal game as Killers are desperate trying to get 4 kills in the basement today.

In future rifts consider challenges that dont cause players to ruin the match for others be they killer or survivor. Personally I would like to see more skill (less luck) based challenges. Example escape the match using no perks, escape the match using only No Mither, for Killer sacrifice three players using no perks or addons.

BHVR is looking into it. They stated as much in their Q&A.

"In future rifts consider challenges that dont cause players to ruin the match for others be they killer or survivor. Personally I would like to see more skill (less luck) based challenges. Example escape the match using no perks, escape the match using only No Mither, for Killer sacrifice three players using no perks or addons."

Have you read the Forums at all? People are losing their minds over how "Difficult" the current Tome is. Imagine wanting to make it harder.

I would like more challenging ones myself but many players seem to find even Tome 2 too difficult which is hilarious imo.

  • It is and was.

BHVR said they were changing how they are doing events, they did. Just because it isn't what you want to consider an event doesn't mean it wasn't.

  • @PistolTimb said:

I've been playing survivor more but it's just for the sweet, sweet tome bloodpoints. If I could get survivor matches as fast as I get killer matches, I would play survivor WAY more.

But that's because everyone is playing Survivor.

Survivor's typically have somewhat of an advantage when it comes to hiding. But I think most people play them for certain reasons. 1: Cosmetics they can actually see. 2: Playing with friends and 3: they want to make the killer look hard for them or try and bully.

If I'm being perfectly honest, I'd love to see if survivor's had their own passive abilities. Nothing over-powered. But say Claudette is able to heal the others at a more efficient rate. You know, things that work with the style of perks they have. Because I'll be honest, I'm kind of tired of hoping survivor's I go against are decent enough to out mind game me or aren't complete push overs

Even if they weren't overpowered, and only like a 2% increase or something, some players would still demand people play certain survivors and there would be more toxicity. And then there would be a "meta" and it would just make some Survivors "worse" choices that some players will not play with.
