That's it. That seals the deal. I am no longer a Dead by Daylight fan. I’ve been a fan since 1982 and a season ticket holder since 1996. I officially will not be renewing my plan next season nor will I play on PC ever again. Cote is officially the worst game director in history.

That sucks Scott, but I'm in total agreement with you. There should be some emergency developer meetings going on right now trying to get a patch in place for solo-queue by next Tuesday.

totally agree with 5.400 hours as survivor. I’m done and I don’t expect devs to do anything in a moth at least

I'm honestly expecting the developers to nerf survivors next Tuesday at this point.

  • Game rules and report system — Dead By Daylight

Just so you know that suiciding is not against the rules. DCing is but suiciding on hook isn't.

However, I will tell you this, punishing survivors for hook suiciding will just speed up the collapse of this game. So if that's your goal, then keep advocating for it.

So apparently, this is a thing

And this apparently has ZERO counter as the only thing im told is "teammates do gens"

    Ok, sure

And what am I supposed to do?

Not play the game at all?

    Yeah, no

Imma leave and actually PLAY something else

Considering the community apparently universally views this kinda playstyle as "toxic" and "unfun", as they should

(It literally forces a player into spectator mode with very little counter other than "never get downed, ever, at all", which is even harder against 1-hit down killers

It would be VERY easy to make some minor changes to heavily discourage it

I suggest ONE of the following:

1- When killer remains within X meters of a hooked survivor for Y seconds, the Survivor gets a guaranteed self-unhook with extra endurance and haste than usual

2- When a killer remains within X meters of a hooked survivor for Y seconds, they begin to drain BP

(The entity wants these killers to go out and inflict pain, to kill, not to stand around and watch paint dry)

3- Hook progress stops entirely, when a killer is within X meters for Y seconds

All of the above do NOT activate if the killer is in a chase, to prevent looping a killer around a hook to abuse these systems

I see literally ZERO drawbacks to these additions

    Thoughts?

Honestly, the best thing you can do is not play survivor in DBD. Probably the next best thing you can do is not play Killer in DBD.

i'm waiting in 5-10 minute killer queues just for matches to get cut short because someone decided they didn't want to play against a certain killer or something. games where the survivors almost immediately get crippled because of a bad teammate aren't fun, especially when they feel like the only kind of games you're getting.

If a survivor wants to suicide-on-hook, then they are allowed to play how they want to play. Survivor don't have to play by the killers-handbook and a Survivor's job isn't to insure Killer's have fun.

Remember all those arguments that killers give survivors about face-camping. Well, my how the tables have turned!

  • 5 killer sided patches in a row. The two killer release patches, in between the 3 survivor nerf/killer buff patches, included very good killer perks (buffs) while the survivor perks were complete wastes of time (survivors gained nothing).

That’s not how that works. In most pvp games, the best players have very high win rates because they are better than most. To make a game 50/50 would basically mean making it random. Skill should determine who wins, not arbitrary set odds.

Absolutely, at the highest levels, the games won't be balanced. That's why games should be balanced at the very least at 3 different levels of play. Lower play / Mid Play / High Play with the very highest and very lowest excluded similar to a bell curve.

So the largest number of players at 68.2% are balanced by itself. Then the Lowest 13.6% is balanced by itself. Finally the highest 13.6% is balanced by itself. Then you ignore the top and bottom 2.4% to get rid of all the anomalies (such as Otz type players).

Also, the skill levels of both killer players and survivor players bell-curves should overlap. So 68.2% of survivor players are paired and have a 50/50 chance to win against 68.2% of killer players. The same is true for the top 13.6% and bottom 13.6%

Just kidding ^^ I am beyond happy that DH is gone and I am facing many different exhaustion perks now.

Occasionally Sprint Burst gets the better of me, but that's ok, because I happily face 4 sprint bursts then living in constant fear that my next hit will get invalidated by DH or the survivor just DHs for distance.

But for real, what is everyones experience with Sprint Burst so far? Did he doom sayers claiming "all killer mains who asked for DH nerfes will curse the new Sprint Burst meta because its actually much stronger" actually rung true? Or can you deal with Sprint Burst and other exhaustion perks just fine?

    Happy gaming, everyone.

If the killer-role didn't turn into a I've-been-given-free-kills by the developers, then you probably would be aggravated by all the Sprint Burst users. But you forgot that not only did DH get nerfed, the developers also reduced the killer-role to be pretty much skill-less. So I guess, the developers removed Dead Hard from survivors and turn the killer-role into Dead Hard.

Rank 1 Survivor at the moment. I confirm all of the above posts about Solo Q.

It's just aweful. I either loop the killer for a long time and see no gens pop for 2 solid minutes and when I get hooked, everyone just decides to swarm the hook while the killer is there. Or I just get tunneled on my first chase.

My latest match was just hell. I was the first one found by a Legion and of course the 3 other survivors decided it was good plan to hide in lockers while he was in frenzy. And they also had SC and were healing while Sloppy Butcher and Thanatophobia were running.

Survivors who were toxic and bullies pre-patch just switched to the killer side and this is what we get.

Occasionnally you face a killer who brings a cake for bloodpoints for everybody but decides to camp at 5 gens. Makes perfect sense right ?

Just one of those games I guess...

When the developers took away the skill required to play killer and just gave them free wins, I lost respect.

Even the streamers who play killers are laughable anymore. Why would I watch these Streamers when they're just given free kills. I can't learn anything from them, when they play a role that doesn't require skill to play anymore. I find it almost as interesting as watching a 6 year old playing killer. Both are just given kills anymore. No skill required.

By your reasoning, we could say that survivors got free escapes when they had the original Dead Hard and the devs did the right thing and nerfed it so now, survivors have to earn their escapes rather then get easy escapes.

It's exactly the same thing, thank you for seeing it. The entire patch has turned Killer into a giant Dead Hard. And this patch needs to go the exact same way as Dead Hard and be removed from the game.

You can't really respect the killer-role anymore when all it is, is a giant crutch perk that gives the killer role kills-for-free.

But its not. I´ve seen many experienced survivors that play perfectly fine and don´t try to ruin the game of everyone else by suiciding on the first hook.

As it was already said, this leads absolutely nowhere. So instead of throwing a tantrum, how bout trying to adapt? There won´t be a backroll of the patch, so suiciding brings you nothing.

I played both sides when I was playing and currently I'm enjoying and having fun playing a competitive game that is actually fair. You probably want to respond to whoever is saying that survivors are suiciding-on-hook and DCing, since that's not happening. Let me see if I can find the person that said survivors are collectively suiciding-on-hook and DCing.

    @Tsulan said:

What should they comment on? That survivors are collectivly throwing the game and trying to ruin it for everyone else?

Um...and how long were the devs holding survivors? This is the first killer sided patch in MONTHS. I agree that I would like the game to be fair but it will never be fair because its 1 v 4.

Since the killer-role has received 5 patches with buffs (6.1.0, 6.0.0, 5.7.0, 5.6.0 and 5.5.0) in a row and survivors have received 5 patches with nerfs in a row (Or useless buffs to things like flip-flop or boil over, were the buff was reverted), then you are absolutely correct...

    in Bizarro-world.

  • Your kills are meaningless, because your skill didn't play any part in those kills, it was just given to you by the developers. It's kind of like me giving you a million dollars and then you bragging that you are self-made millionaire.

Nobody is giving out free wins. Killers didnt get a *2 speed buff or now somehow instantly downs you and brick your pc. Solo Q is miserable because solo q players are a miserable bunch.

What can the developers do when in half of the games the person that gets downed first either suicides on hook or dcs.

Tell me, what do you think "To ensure the Killer feels like an unstoppable force to be feared" (Direct Quote from patch 6.1.0), means when the developers were talking about kill rates.

That's totally giving the killer role free kills. The killer-role to me has been delegitimized by the developers. Again, you shouldn't take this as a personal attack, this is just how I see the killer-role now.

What can the developers do when in half of the games the person that gets downed first either suicides on hook or dcs.

I've said this before but will say it again. If suicides-on-hooks and DCs have increased significantly, that's not a player problem, that's a developers problem. Something with the game is causing an abnormal DC and Suicide-on-hooks issue and the developers are the only ones that can fix it. I mean, it's their job, right?

I mean I was playing a load of zero slowdown Sadako yesterday. You can't really believe that's a recipe for an ez 4k, patch or no patch

Sadako is one of my mains. She's definitely better than people make her out to be, however... Dredge came out and he's Sadako 2.0, he does every she does but better.

Sadako just needs a rework so she's not Dredge's lamer sister. (I would consider this a design problem the developers should fix).

  • @Aneurysm said:

Sounds like it's finally time to hang up my weapons for good. I've played the killer role through good times and bad, but knowing I had your respect, OP, that saw me through everything. Without it there's little reason to carry on.

I'm not saying this about killer players, and don't take it like a personal attack. When I was playing, I played both sides. I just can't respect the killer as a role in this game anymore when it's just given kills by the developer. You are probably feeling like it's a personal attack because you too don't respect the killer role after this update. It's not really fair to you, to play killer and no longer feel like your skill is the deciding factor in games but instead your kills are fed to you by the developers. It's demeaning.

  • @AdmiralPiett said:

Can someone understand why killers are so toxic after the update? I had 18 tunneling and or campers in 20 matches as a Solo Surv.

I'm at the point, I dont even get mad about people killing themself on hook, if the enemy is a legion, pig, nurse etc.

I don't get upset at people DCing and Suiciding-on-hook when the patch is this unfair. A 6 year old can get on and get free kills now with the developer added training wheels they added to the Killer side. The entire Killer side is now Dead Hard. I just can't respect the killer role when it's just given free kills by the developer. At least with Dead Hard, survivors were still losing with a 45% escape rate.

  • @AndyKuky said:

Survivors grew too used to their DH crutch. It’s very reminiscent of when BHVR killed Ruin and a lot of killer mains got upset and claimed it would destroy the game.

Turns out it was just fine and killers just needed time to adjust. Survivors just have to learn to play without a massive DH crutch.

You're upset about crutch perks. Yet Dead Hard was active and being used by 75% of survivors when the game was still killer sided with 55% of wins.

Shouldn't you also be upset about the entire Killer kit sitting on one massively-unfair crutch patch that literally just gives killers wins?

  • @Dead_Harder said:

''I think as a whole, competitive gamers, need to see a game as being fair.''

    Competitive or fair, pick one.

What you are thinking of is casual.

Competitive and Fair go hand in hand. Is there any other game on the market that just gives one side wins like DBD does: Street Fighter, LOL, Call of Duty, etc etc? This statement is about the role in general, not about players who play Killer. I totally understand players who play killer because it's easy wins given to them by developers.

If I was still playing the game, I'd definitely play killers just because it's free wins. But I don't respect the role anymore and I honestly just don't play unfair competitive games in the first place. Whats the point when one side is just given wins, it's no longer competitive at that point.

  • @supersonic853 said:

I know when the nerfs were announced some people came to old dead hards defense citing "Ill just run the loop one less time and not greed". Or something like that. But it seems now without that safety net a lot of survivors get caught out very easily. And with the other basekit changes and stuff like brutal strength being more effective (for me personally) i get downs so much quicker. And also people cited "well everyones gonna play sprint burst instead afterwords so nothing will change". But its actually nice to see smash hit, overcome, balanced and lithe fairly frequently. Dead hard held the king spot of exhaustion making it pretty much THE exhaustion pick. So now that the dust has settled how much of a choke hold did old DH have? And in general chase did it have a much bigger impact than you thought?

There's really no way to tell because with the Dead Hard nerf, Killers also just given free kills by the developers in this patch so they felt like an "unstoppable force".

If the patch had actually been fair instead of developer added cheat software for killer, then maybe a judgement could be made on Dead Hard. But who knows.

Killers didn't "calm down" every time survivors got something useful. Circle of Healing suffered 3 knee-jerk reactions by the devs due to killers moaning and crying. When killers can't 4K with ease, is the reason survivor state is at the worst.

Concerning the patch, this is definitely the worst state of the game. And BHVR is silent because killers are all happy.

The game is so unbalanced right now, it is a miracle any survivor is playing.

I just wanted to know some of your guys opinions, from both killer and survivors.

im a survivor main - who was sort of losing interest in the game about a month before the PTB. Obviously love dead hard, but I primarily used balanced landing for years. I do miss the old dead hard, but it’s nice to change it up (trying not to use balanced landing either since I did use that for a longggg time).

I find it harder to play as survivor in general. Everyone says it’s the DH nerf - but I feel like it’s just much more than that. It feels like no matter what I do the killer is always on my ass. (Ex: the buff to breaking pallets, vaulting, basekit unrelenting) Idk, just seems like I legit am either on the hook immediately or it takes like two whole years to complete a gen with all the regression perks (which can be pretty boring honestly.)

as for killer though - I genuinely feel like it’s easier to play. I probably don’t have a high MMR as killer because I definitely consider myself a baby killer, but even going against baby survivors before the patch was hard for me. Now I feel like I can easily get a 4k and actually catch up to the survivors instead of getting stuck in an infinite loop for 3 gens lol.

id love to know what everyone is running perk-wise as survivor and as killer, as well as how your play-style has changed and whether you all like the update or not.

It's the patch that caused me to quit DBD. So I would say it was a big win for my mental health.

I started playing competitive games that are fair. Instead of playing a game where skill stopped mattering and killers are just given free wins because the developers wanted killers to be an unstoppable force.

I just can't take people playing killer seriously anymore when they're basically running developer added cheat software.

  • @Mandy said:

This last mid chapter patch was a big one, there were a lot of changes made including base changes. We are very well aware that it is going to take time for this to settle down and it's something that we are continually monitoring and if we see the need to make changes to things further down the line - that's something we will do.

However, we're not making knee jerk reactions here - if we do see things that we know are going to be an issue of high importance we will of course make changes in the planned Hotfixes, there might also be further changes made down the line depending on how things play out once players have had time to adjust to a lot of the recent changes.

Dead by Daylight is a Live game, it's continually evolving and changes made based on this. The plan of this update was to increase kill rates as those were lower than we would like. It will take some time to fully see the extent of the changes made, players adapt etc. This update and the after effects of this update is definitely something we are monitoring closely.

So, are the developers not concerned that giving one side free wins by increasing kill rates over 50% is not seen as extremely unfair by 80% of the player base?

  • @Tsulan said:

What should they comment on? That survivors are collectivly throwing the game and trying to ruin it for everyone else?

It's only 4/5ths of the player base, hardly significant. The best approach is to ignore 80% of the play base.

And if this is the case, then really, it only affects about 20% of players. Those 20% of players definitely don't care about the misery of 80% of the player base so who cares anyway.

  • @Sludge said:

Survivors can't loop purely because of the DH nerf, it was used by all 4 players almost every game, lots of them got carried hard by it. Now they have to learn to play since they don't get a free reset/distance 3x per person.

DS nerf + BBQ stack removal increased camping and tunnelling.

Maybe the DH nerf needs to be reverted if it's causing this many issues. Mass DCs and Suiciding-on-hook, does not make a good game. No one's enjoying this. Killers queue times are massive, killers get into a game and the first person they hook suicides which invalidates the entire match. I mean, this game is pure crap right now. No one is having fun.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3098415#Comment_3098415

    Shrug.

Plenty of people played killer over the years, even during shenanigans like MoM, prenerf OoO, DS, infinites, post buff Boil Over taking games hostage, unhookable spots etc. which were...so, so much worse than any balance issues right now.

Survivors have had it much worse than killers. You realize the only meta changing perk survivors have had in 4 years is Circle of Healing, which got nerfed 4 times. Also, the last 4 patches have been survivor nerfs or useless buffs such as Boil Over that got nerfed right back to where it originally was, or

So the shenanigans killers have had doesn't really compare to the shenanigans survivors have had. Everything killers have complained about has gotten fixed, survivors have only gotten screwed patch after patch.

And the developers are giving killers extra kills. How is that even fair. Yeah, killers have nothing to complain about when you start comparing what them to survivors.

    • Patch 6.1.0 - Survivors completely screwed over. The entire point of this patch was to give killers extra kills (As Stated by the Developers who believed killers weren't seen as an unstoppable force).
    • Patch 6.0.0 - Survivors got Haddie and 3 of the most useless perks ever. Killers got buffed with Dissolution and Darkness Revealed, yet another great aura reading perk.
    • Patch 5.7.0 - Boil Over nerf and CoH nerf. Killers were buffed with a Hemorrhage rework.
    • Patch 5.6.0 - Survivors got Yoichi and his 3 worthless perks. Killers got Call of Brine, a current meta perk.
    • Patch 5.5.0 - Survivors got useless buffs such as Buckle Up, Boil Over (which was immediately reverted), Wake up, Power Struggle, and a CoH nerf to top it off. Killers got a bunch of individual killer buffs.

That's 5 patches in a row where survivors were tossed scraps or were nerfed.

And you know something, tunneling at-gen-5 and camping at-gen-5 have not been fixed in 6 years.

So yeah, Survivors definitely have been alienated from this game. Killers are part of the problem too, because they just want survivor to be nerfed even more every patch. They don't care about the game health as long as survivor is nerfed again.

DbD is, however, still very healthy.

I play solo survivor and I'm still escaping a goodly amount.

    A few things:

    • MMR right now is screwy, both due to a lot of changes to the meta and due to incentives being removed.
    • The goal of the patch was to increase kill rates. I know that nobody likes to lose, but people are still exaggerating.
    • This game is not balanced around solo play. It...can't be.

    • DS back to 5 seconds.
    • Incentives back.

Let's see where we stand then.

For 100% extra BP? I'll do solo, for sure.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3097523#Comment_3097523

It's always been tough for new players, but you'll have a botmatch option soon that will allow you to practice more. As things stand though, you'll lose a lot until both your MMR gets far down and you get better.

For 100% extra BP? I'll do solo, for sure.

You might, but most people are not going to play a side that makes them absolutely miserable just for a few extra blood points. 100% of 5k bloodpoints (currently around what you make when you get camped at gen-5) is only 10k. I'm guaranteed 20k BPs if I do nothing as a killer and it just goes up from there. So switching to solo-queue for BPs is actually a bad decision when you can put a small amount of effort into playing killer and make 40k easily. Most average solo-queue players make around 20k on a good game.

I'm a solo q player and I dont bring self care. In fact, if I see that anyone on my team is running self care solo, you're staying on the hook.

Inner strength right now is much better than self care.

I'm not playing right now because of this horrid slap-in-solo-queues-face patch.

However, here is my opinion. Inner Strength is unreliable, you need to find a totem and if other players are booning totems or destroying totems, Inner Strength becomes useless.

So, as bad as Self Care is, Inner Strength is worse because of the unreliability factor. Pharmacy has the same problem, it's unreliable, if a teammate is searching chests, you're screwed.

I'd rather have an always available Self Care when you can't find someone, to running around hurt and not being able to find someone or find a totem.

  • @Marigoria said:

I'd like to believe the ones still bringing self care is because they don't know any better...

    @Marigoria,

Solo-queue players are bringing Self-Care because it's the most perk slot efficient and reliable healing method in the game in a mode where no one every seems to want to heal you.

So you either run around hurt all game or you run self-care.

    ---

    Pharmacy < Self-Care

    Inner Strength < Self-Care

Circle of Healing is iffy. You kind of need to run a map or Small Game, so you are up a slot or item to run this and that sucks in solo queue.

So i have been watching a few streamers recently and have seen that Hackers in this game are getting out of hand.

I myself have never had a game with a hacker so I don't think the issue is overly bad for general players (maybe see one now and then) however streamers attract them because the hackers can force their way into the streamers lobbies then ruin their game live.

So here is my suggestion to at least help streamers with the hackers that enter their game.

Streamers should be able to put an application in to have their DC penalties removed.

Of course there would be restrictions. (for example have a min of 50 average viewers per stream for example).

This would mean that any hackers that force their way into a streamers lobby wouldn't be able to ruin the game because the streamer can simply DC and go next game without having to worry about a penalty.

Side note - Behaviour really does need to do more to combat these hacks. Maybe try going after the websites that sell the hacking tools to players instead of going just after the players who choose to hack.

    Here is my take...

I bet that all of the solo-queue players that were recently DCing and Suiciding-on-hook because this patch was so oppressive are now going out to get cheat-programs to play the game with so they can make killers as miserable as possible. They're so mad at the game, they don't care if they get banned for cheating. Hench, the rise in cheaters.

    I'm just hypothesizing though.

I mean iv played for 3 years and I love this game- but now it's just pretty awful

Ok, I'm going to pretend to be a killer-main so I can give survivors the proper response...

I'm a killer-main and I know for a fact that this patch was the best patch ever. I "played" solo-survivor today and it was 4 escapes all day. The killer wasn't even able to hook but 1 person, if that. Once the survivors learn to play without Dead-Hard, which allowed survivors to finish 5 gens and open exit gates every time you pressed "E", then queues will even out.

Killers still haven't gotten enough incentives not to tunnel at-gen-5 or face-camp at-gen-5. The developers should buff killers even more so killers don't have to tunnel at-gen-5 and face-camp at-gen-5, it's really the only way.

    Hey.

So recently I played like 6 matches as a killer (3 nurse, 2 hag and 1 sadako)... And from each of this match, I've had people DC, afk (giving up) after 3 gen pops. I suppouse soloq only. And I swear, it's getting so ridiculous.

In some of this matches, they were ragequitting and afking even when I was actually losing, and I'm not kidding.

It was a match with hag, the match for me was awful, maybe the worst possible scenario (who playing hag, knows...) the only thing why I won this match, it's coz 1 guy just DC'd after I (somehow) downed him.

What is happening with survivors? What is the point of even getting into the match, if you know you're going to dc or ######### on hook?

Are they hoping to get a "baby killer" to go against? Are they protesting the changes that way? If so, I don't think it's a smart way.

I also looked up some Youtube vids to see how some survivors playing soloq, and they're mad. Don't get me wrong, they're mad on their teammates, ruining the game, killing themselves on hooks and denying to play.

I looked up more, and I've seen more people just ragequitting in a 100% winnable match. The killer 100% will lose this match, and they still DC or K themselves on hooks...

Dear survivors, what is going on? What are you exactly want to achieve like this?

Survivors aren't DCing and Suiciding on hook.

This patch is perfect and only a horribly killer-sided patch would cause issues such as what you are talking about.

  • @Akumakaji said:

I always advocated for a catch up mechanic for the losing side, ie whenever the ratio between hooks and gen done is skewered to one side, like a speed boost to the killer or a repair boost or grund reduction to the survivors, but alas I always got shot down because people apparently don't like the feeling of "getting punished for playing good". I never understood this mindset, as a lot of games of DBD are nowadays decided in the first 2-3min. If the survivors make some big blunders the killer generates so much pressure that they can't possibly finish their gens, and the other way around, if the killer choses the wrong survivor to chase and gets looped for 80s and 3 gens pop in union, then the game is pretty much over, too.

So why is there so much resistance to a mechanic that just makes this totally one sided games more interesting instead of just a stomp fest for one side? Or do people love stomping so much?

I think this would have been a great idea and it probably would have helped with the horrible tunneling/face camping mechanics in the game. Why tunnel a person out of the game just to make the other 3 survivors stronger. It's be better to spread the hooks out at that point, so everyone has 2 hooks, then kill them.

This is a brilliant idea. (Also, it will never be implemented, which is sad, because this idea along could fix this game).

I don't think, that the game is dying.

But it goes the same way as Deathgarden. The concept is ok, but it doesn't allow any flexibility. In my eyes, the devs can only adjust variables and the look. But the actual gameplay is set in stone from my point of view. And that quickly becomes boring with an imbalance of skills.

With Deathgarden, it was intense. If a Hunter player had dominated the game, you almost never had a chance.

The biggest advantage in Deathgarden was the flexible movement. You could move in three axes. In DBD, there are only two. Much too rigid.

Sometimes I think that the game characters drive around the map in wheelchairs.

I think you make a good point. There's no catchup mechanic, to balance out matches.

No one has any fun if the other side is getting curb-stomped constantly. The fun comes when you have very close games where both sides are making good plays. Every once in a while, a curb-stomping breaks up the monotony. But this game is pretty much all curb-stompings and you make one mistake as survivor, you just lose, which I've never felt like when I play killer.

Even over the past week or so since the patch it's been dropping daily. There are three main peaks in player count every day, I'm assuming oceanic, EU, and NA each spike the count at their respective peak times.

Last Wednesday was the biggest day since the patch for each of these, the highest was the first peak at a little over 55k. That same time period yesterday was 43k. Every region seems to be dropping daily since the patch launched, and each one is about 12k fewer players than a week ago.

It's the game dead? Nah. But I think enough players are taking a healthy break to notice in the metrics, myself included. And I recommend a break as being healthier than taking out frustrations on other players, regardless of which role you queue into.

I dropped the game and it was because of the patch. Don't get me wrong, I was already getting burnt out with the game, it just wasn't fun for me anymore, but I probably would have kept playing but this patch was just bad.

the biggest plague this community has is the whole fun argument. for one side playing a fair round is fun for another side its only fun if you win and then you got people that only have fun when they can harress the enemy and toy with them.

so there is no clear that is fun to play side and then you get people that say they only play scummy because the other side playes scummy. for example i am a killer main that doesnt camp or tunnel am i now entitelt to only get face survivor that act nice and polite? do i get a little flag in the lobby so people see im a nice guy and they need to act acordingly. i give hatch to the last surv when i have a 3k does this mean when i lose one surv has to offer themself to me.

these examples are ofcourse a bit over the top but what i want to say is we need to stop bringing fun as a weapon to arguments. stuff like camping sucks and needs to go because one thing that is 100% not fun is hanging on a hook all game just like it wasnt fun that you coulnd do anything about dh for distance. otherwise i think we cant use fun as a metric for balance because we have so many diffrent people playing this game that get there fun from so many diffrent things that it is impossible to make it fun for everyone.

what do you people think about that?

I love playing unfun games! Everyone does, that's why they're so popular!

yeah but killer queues are oversaturated, if they fix matchmaking incentives and balance a few things it should be fine, hopefully next tuesday

The incentives will only help with matchmaking if the game is relatively balanced. Right now, solo-queue is hurting and no amount of incentives is going to get people to switch over to solo-queue.

Hi Guys , after the last update got to be honest the game really aren't fun anymore for survivors every game feels like "World Champ" and the sweat that you need to pull ( only with a swif otherwise you don't have a chance to escape) either one of the surv are gets tunneled because of DS nerf or disconnections.

will like to hear you thoughts.

What does the steam charts say.

I already said I've never used Calm Spirit.

Pharmacy is definitely not useless. Now I've had matches where I couldn't get much of a benefit out of it because you've got that one person in the group that just has to open every single chest one after the other but there's nothing you can do about that.

But if I bring it I bring a coin to add a chest and I always get a med kit when I need one. It's nice to have in your pocket when you're not playing with friends and you can't rely on coordinating for a heal.

When you compare Pharmacy to Circle of Healing, Self-Care & Botany and Inner Strength, then yes, it's useless. You don't use the worse perk to play with when you are wanting to win a game, you choose the best perk. Sure you can use it when you are messing around but it's not the optimal healing perk to use and the changing it around didn't do anything to improve it.

Pharmacy is by far, not the best perk and the rearranging of some abilities the perk has didn't improve it.

  • @ad19970 said:

Survivors will surely need some compensation buffs. Camping and tunneling are now just too effective, seeing as how killers got nice buffs that make their fair skillful gameplay more viable.

But 28 games in a row kind of seems like you seriously got screwed over by matchmaking. Or you still have a lot to improve.

I do think that survivor right now can be problematic. But I definitely still have escaped some of my matches. Never even had nearly as much of a losing streak as that. And I am no survivor pro or anything like that.

MMR is suppose to even out the game so that you get 50% escapes. This isn't a problem with his play and people saying that are honestly just being toxic.

This is 100% MMR not working properly or killers have been buffed so much that there's no longer a "low MMR" killer to fill the need for "low MMR" survivors.

I mostly played 2swf and 2 soloQ and it was fine most of my games

That makes sense. Once you play about 10-20 solo queue games, you'll start seeing the problems solo queue is suffering after this update.

Killers received significant buffs and they're happy. SWF hasn't changed much, that I can tell (I play killer/SWF hybrid). But, from the large number of posts I've see on these forums and on Reddit, solo-queue players are suffering a lot.

Also, for whatever reason, killers are still tunneling/camping like they were before, even though they were given incentives not to camp/tunnel.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3095490#Comment_3095490

    None of those were nerfed.

Calm Spirit got a sidegrade so that you do actions totally silent but they take a little longer because you're being more careful.

Pharmacy can now proc as many times as there are chests in on the map, that's a buff.

Botany Knowledge got a buff to 50% and its 20% item reduction is just to keep you from making it even more ridiculously overpowered with Medkit add ons. It's certainly not too much to ask that you have to equip a charge quantity add on to make up for the extra 50% healing speed Botany Knowledge is going to give you with a medkit.

Buffing would indicate the perk is used more.

If you played survivor adequately enough, you would never say Calm Spirit and Pharmacy were buffed. They're both useless perks that had some things changed around. They're not better and they're not worse, they're just suboptimal perks, that are greatly overshadowed by other perks. They're only fit for meme builds.

  • @Marigoria said:

Blast Mine is a meme perk at best. If it's to get team mates together might as well use better together.

Because every once in a while, I see a post that is totally opposite of what a majority of solo-queue posts are....

I have a feeling that MMR may be wonky. What is happening to a lot of solo queue players may not be happening to all players.

Or Anara hasn't played many games solo-queue games yet. Maybe one or two and had good games.

And of course, the other thing that's been happening is killer/hybrid mains pretending like everything is fine in solo-queue. Which I'm also seeing every now and then.

  • @SuzuKR said:

Previously, a killer knows guaranteed they have 16 seconds, and thus a certain distance they can go. Now, it is randomly anywhere from 15-16 seconds with no way for the killer to see or know, which is up to several meters less which can suddenly end up in losing the down. Furthermore, they are incredibly easy to macro to perfect 100% success rate every single time due to being perfectly centered in each half.

Great skillchecks should not exist for wiggling because of this lack of information clarity problem it creates. WHETHER WIGGLE IS 15 OR 16 it should always be that same time no matter what, outside of something like Breakout which requires a teammate and can thus be suspected/avoided or Boil Over adding time or Flip Flop adding wiggle or whatnot, which can all be realized and played around.

They shouldn't be forced on players. (AKA the upcoming patch)

  • @DistortedDream said:

So, the update is a step in the right direction for game health and has made the killer experience a bit better. However, survivors are still the power role.

Gens still go by super quickly even with the extra 10 seconds added and every killer match I've played so far since the update had at least two survivors bringing Prove Thyself and a Commodious Toolbox with BNP, making gens even more of an issue. Survivors are complaining that killers are still running the "slowdown meta", but slowdown perks are needed to get by without gens flying left and right.

Camping and tunnelling were nerfed into oblivion with the base kit BT and OTR changes. Survivors can now save in the killer's face with no repercussions. Grabs don't even exist anymore and if you do manage to grab a survivor, it will freeze the game for 5 or more seconds and the grabbed survivor will be free, benefitting the survivors in the long run.

Maps are a huge issue when it comes to game balance as well. The Game (Gideon Pallet Plant), RPD (Pallet City), Garden of Joy, Mother's Dwelling, and Eyrie of Crows are huge examples of this. What do all of these maps have in common? They're all big maps with an absurd number of pallets and strong loops, which will guarantee the survivors a win 99% percent of the time. Even the most experienced and strongest of killers have a hard time on these maps. Not only that, but infinite loops still exist on certain maps (Ex: The Pale Rose boat loop, Grim Pantry's main building loop, RPD Library, etc). Both Backwater Swamp and Red Forest needs updates because they are from a different time and do not fit the current game. Mind gaming loops is also out of the question, considering survivors can see over most of the tiles.

And on top of all of that, Survivors can still body block hooks, sabotage, and blind killers at ridiculous angles (you could be facing a wall and still get blinded) and you'll most likely lose the carried survivor. Losing a carried survivor is a big deal because you wasted all of that time in a chase for nothing and have to start another chase, most of the time with an uninjured survivor.

Now not all of these things are necessarily bad or unbalanced, but this game is still survivor sided despite the changes and buffs to killers. Survivors are still in need of nerfs and killers are still in need of buffs.

It would be absolutely hilarious for survivors to get nerfed again after the last 4 killer-buff/survivor-nerf patches. Especially after this slap in the face to solo-survivors.

I honestly hope the developers nerf survivors again. I've never seen a game implode this spectacularly from ill-conceived buffs/nerfs.

  • Solo-survivor is miserable because of this last patch. Making gens harder to do, although it would be funny because it would be a slap in the face to survivors who are already down on the ground, probably isn't the best idea right now.
