Everyone who says DH is the reason why the game is different is just slow. Fine if you think that they should revert every change except the DH change and we'll see how the games are.

Heck, maybe DH needs to return to how it originally was. If this seriously is being caused by a perk used by 75% of survivors, maybe it wasn't a good idea to nerf it in the first place.

well when i play a game there are survivors playing with me, this makes me part of it and capable to give an opinion. Soloq is getting damaged because other survivors DC not because of killers

Survivors DCing is a symptom, I don't understand how people don't realize this. In fact, one of the biggest things you should look at for game health is how many survivors are DCing. If there's suddenly a lot of survivors DCing and Suiciding, then there's a reason these increased.

How 0K games are so usual? One happens to me maybe once every 20-30th game.

The site collects data from several thousand games a month. So that's an average against all the people who submit games. Remember, that's just an average, it's no indication of what individuals do.

  • It's from https://nightlight.gg/. It's an aggregate site that collects data about several thousand games a month. It's a nice site.

How is Self Care overpowered when Circle of Healing isn't? Why the former got gutted, but the latter didnt need any changes? I don't understand

Solo-queue players should have default Kindred and Self-Care. I think that would fix the massive escape game between SWF and Solo-Queue and as bad as solo-queue is right now, it's probably a good time to do it.

I played killer all day yesterday to try out the perk changes and new game play mechanics. It is much less stressful not having to deal with dead hard on every survivor every chase. Won some, lost some, tried out some goofy builds now that I have nearly every perk t3 on every killer. Which by the way I wouldn't have dared try in the former meta. So okay, good there, switched over to see how the other side is living.

    Survivors are literally throwing.

I don't know if this is like some form of protest because dead hard got nerfed or an attempt to artificially inflate the kill rates so killer buffs get reverted but NO ONE is even trying to do gens. Every time I chase for a bit and eventually get hooked I see survivors jumping in and out of lockers or clustered around the hook.

    Guys what happened?

We couldn't keep you off gens before you wouldn't even do totems now no survivor is even trying I did two gens last game solo we got 4k'ed with 3 gens left. It's like the Spirit DC protest all over again.

    DO THE GENS

This really sounds like an attempt to throw wool over the developers eyes...

"Killer's weren't over-buffed, but instead, every single survivor player has hatched an insidious plan to throw games!"

Thousands of survivor players did not get together and decide to throw matches.

When I see survivors suiciding is when the killer tunnels or face-camps someone out at gen 5. Or someone DCs at the beginning of the game. That's really about it.

So what about 10% slower gens and a lack of being able to artificially extend chases is so different that it's made the game "not fun"?

The slightest inconvenience and the game is no longer worth playing?

It's 10 seconds slow gens, which is actually 12.5% slower gens.

  • I love this. What's even funnier, is if you look at the last 4 patches, every single one of them have been killer buffs and survivor nerfs.

You should see Reddit then, people can post examples of the worst kind of toxicity there and a legion of people come to defend the whole thing with convoluted "what if..." scenarios where somehow the agressor is some kind of victim and exercising his divine right to karmic justice against some vile archdemon.

Obviusly both sides do this but Reddit being Killer central is especially aggravating.

It's kind of weird, but I have noticed more survivors on these forums. When I first got on, these forums were almost 95% killer mains. Which makes sense, killers mains and hybrids are going to be much more invested in the game that survivors-mains.

  • @kaskader said:

Are some of you guys seriously crying about 10 more seconds to generators? i barely notice the difference its bitching and crying over nothing.

I also see a lot of survivors crying about killers tunneling more (like i didn't warned that would happen after the update in my previous posts) as long devs don't understand the killers need a reason and reward to not camp and tunnel this strategy will never go away... Also survivors got a new perk that is ds on steroids which is off the record (and yes you can stack them both to be untouchable).

And the cherry on top is crying about dead hard nerf... If you were addicted on dead hard to not go down in 10 seconds then im sorry but its only a skill issue and only solution is just git gud and learn how to loop.

Not even gonna say killer perks also got nerfed into the ground (which is a good thing).

And also the mmr is broken right now and simply doesn't work which might be a real cause of all of that nonsense going on.

What does this accomplish except to be a bait thread?

If the average was 48.05 for 27 days and 48.05 + x for 3 days, and we assume for simplicity all those days had the same total number of matches, and that the net over 30 days was 49.72, then we get

    27*48.05 + 3*(48.05 + x) = 30* 49.72

So x = 16.7, i.e. the new kill rate went up about 16% to about 64.75.

Nice maths. What do you do for a living?

Makes sense. I'm not sure where I am on the MMR scale, but all I know is when I get a bunch of wins, I end up getting a game where we are just slaughtered. Usually by a Nurse. Yesterday I lost to a Nurse and a Clown. Didn't even get the first gen done. Both were using at least 2 information perks like Lethal Pursuer. The day before was a doctor with Merciless Storm, Sloppy Butcher, Coulrophobia and Unnerving Presence. Let's just say there was no chance in getting skill checks done. They each had at most 1 gen slowdown perk.

I always assume that when you start getting Nurses and Blights more than average, you are in the middle-top.

  • @Icaurs said:

What I find most interesting in your videos is the fact that you were being camped at 3 gens. One on your first hook and the second on your second hook. Both matches the killer went with the intention of this being the strategy, which means they either

A: Were trying to ruin your matches.

Or B: Planned to camp at the start as they believed it was a valid strategy.

    Or most likely C both.

    I wish you luck Pulsar.

I don't think @Pulsar went out to ruin a Killers match. I really hate that survivors get blamed for every little evil thing that killers do.

Oh, I believe you guys. I'm just trying to understand because like you said, my experience has been different. Who knows, maybe this weekend I'll get camped every game.

It might be the MMR difference. At the lowest level of MMR everything is really random as to what happens. At the 2nd lowest and Middle seems to be the sweet spot for survivor play, killers rarely camp. I'm pretty sure I'm at the 2nd highest level and camping and tunneling is horrible. At the highest level of play, it's probably even worse.

  • @dugman said:

For sure killers got the larger overall buff, that’s even intentional on the devs’ part, they said they wanted to increase the kill rates in their blogs about the update. What will be interesting is to eventually maybe see actual statistics of before and after snapshots of kill rates to see what the ultimate impact of the patch actually is. Right now, though, there are a LOT of survivors who are still getting used to the new system, particularly the 70% who relied on Dead Hard and ran their pathing knowing they had it in their pocket. What used to be a loop they could do safely three times with that perk, for instance, now might only be safe twice, or a particular path to a window might be risky without it, etc. So they have to kind of relearn the optimal routes and that’ll take a little time to flesh out. On top of which you have survivors doing questionable things like wasting Off the Record and base kit Endurance going for pointless bldyblocks because it’s new.

I think in the end kill rates are, in the short term, probably artificially high right now due to those factors, but over time they’ll go down to be higher than they were prepatch but (hopefully) not TOO much higher.

    image.png

This is April 22 - May 22, from an aggregate data site.

    image.png

This is June 21 - July 21, from an aggregate site.

So it looks like kill rates have went up about 1.72% for the 3 out of 30 days the patch has been active. I'm curious to see what happens after a full month has passed.

  • @Araphex said:

10 games last night, lost 2, not once was I camped or tunneled. 5 games the night before. Lost 1. Same situation. Watched some streamers on Twitch yesterday, no issues whatsoever.

I'm not really sure what is causing the killers to camp, but from what I've seen in plenty of past games is that if someone is bullying the killer, they're most likely going to get camped, slugged, ect. Very rarely have I see killers just do this for no reason. And guess what, It's going to happen every now and then. Would have been nice to see video of what happened before you were camped. Not saying you did bully the killer, but would give proof that there are instances of killers just camping for no reason. Maybe capture it next time. But like I said, I haven't been recently camped, tunnelled and neither have streamers I follow, nor do their hundreds or thousands of followers/subscribers have ever complained about. That's my take.

Out of the 7 recent games I played, there was only 1 game in which in the killer didn't camp or tunnel someone at gen 5. Killers are just standing right outside of terror radius and coming right back to the hook the second someone is hooked.

So I'm with @Pulsar, I'm seeing a lot of camping and tunneling at gen 5, which also seems to be the norm for most survivor posts I'm seeing on the forum. You're survivor experience is the exception to the rule I guess.

  • Why shouldn't Killers have adapted to Dead Hard...

Yeah, well, it's been every ######### game tonight and I'm kinda already sick of it.

8K points per game, facecamped off of first down or tunneled straight off of hook.

    Why even bother playing?

I really wish other players would do what you did and swap sides. I played solo killer for a very long time, about 1k hours and understand how stressful playing killer is, but also understand that you really can't change that. It's just a stressful role because you are going against 4 players and are trying to juggle a bunch of stuff.

However, after switching to survivor for another 1k hours, I realized how awful a play experience survivor is. You're expected to lose more than win, which is unfair. You are expected to not even be able to play the game about 25%ish of games because a killer decides to face-camp or tunnel you at gen 5.

I'm not saying killer doesn't have problems. What I am saying is the there are aspects of survivor game play that just need flat out fixed.

Facecamping from gen 5 has been in the game for 6 years. It blows my mind.

Tunneling from gen 5 has been in the game for 6 years. Please just fix this already, it's horrible game design.

The meta slowdown Perks did get nerfed, the devs just buffed other ones to the same level (or even higher, Legion with Thanataphobia is a thing)

I think what he's saying is that survivors got nerfed without compensation (6 meta perks were nerfed while only 1 was buffed to meta status) and killers got a bunch of global buffs while their slowdown meta stayed the same, the perks just got changed around.

  • @Omputin said:

Isn’t that more of a soloq problem rather than killer/perk problem? I bet competent swf would still easily overpower them.

Yes, cause everything should be designed around the less than 1% of competent SWF teams.

It's about the same as if Killers were nerfed based on the 1% of competent Nurse players. This also implies that all other killer players are trash.

  • @GlamourousLeviathan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3076413#Comment_3076413

No, the only mistake was OTR. That perk has no right to exist being a BT on steroids. There is no reason for BT to exist when this abomination is in the game and BT is already a pretty strong perk as it is.

When SWFs start abusing 4 OTR on the same game, I expect a nerf in 3 weeks because the game will be unplayable.

How would OTR be abusable in a way the helps survivors win games? Because you have to remember, whoever is "trying" to abuse OTR, is not doing gens.

The only way a survivor could use it is to bodyblock. So basically, a survivor would get unhooked and not do gens for an entire chase while they follow the killer around. How is the abusable?

Imagine playing killer for 3 full days and just saw 5 gens completed only once and even that was a 4k.

BHVR you totally messed up the balance of this game

I played Freddy after the patch release and got extremely hammered and had 4 escapes. So if you are drunk, I bet you can't do the same thing.

But ye lets blame it to camping and tunneling boys

I played survivor last night with some friends and there are so many killers camping hooks and tunneling an unhooked survivor back down that's it's ridiculous. Base kit BT did nothing and I'm not sure what has made killers decide to tunnel so bad all of the sudden.

  • @YOURFRIEND said:

Ah. Another one of these topics.

"GUYS I'M A KILLER MAIN AND KILLER IS JUST TOO GOSH DARN EASY PLEASE GUT US"

Actually, what I commonly see is a Killer main claiming that survivor is easy and needs to be gutted. I saw one yesterday where JimbusCrimbus, a notorious kill-sided forum poster, was talking about how easy survivor was for him after the update.

  • @zumer said:

A soloq survivor has 45 deaths out of 50 matches. Thanks BHVR. Play your game yourself. I delete the game.

This seriously needs to be addressed by the developers. This just shouldn't happen. I would say there's something seriously wrong with MMR or this patch just curb-stomped solo-queue.

I'm surprised we haven't seen any feedback from the mods on something this ridiculous.

  • @cburton311 said:

SO far there is nothing redeeming for my games or gameplay. As a survivor main, my options are fewer and less effective in general. I've played something like 10 matches and had 0 exciting narrow defeats or escapes. We've just been mercilessly oppressed with gen slowdown and slaughter by the killers. The matches are so boring compared to 2 days ago.

I was planning to switch to solely Killer only after this patch, downloaded the patch, played a game as Freddy while completely hammered and all 4 survivors escaped (It was against an SWF who were planning to do flashlight saves so I did lightborn). I have a feeling when I camped 50 games straight with Leatherface, it threw all my killers up to high MMR.

So, this patch didn't make killer powerful enough to be played totally hammered against SWF.

  • @JimbusCrimbus said:

So, hear me out. I went in both in solo queue and in a 4 man today. Obviously the 4 man was easier, but none of us used exhaustion perks or other second chances (cause we don't need them), and in solo queue I only really brought BT as a second chance, with Aftercare, Botany and Desperate Measures. This has been my solo queue build with a while. Solo queue felt largely the same as before.

What's really going on here is, survivors lost their ultra safe and free second chance perks (aka - dead hard), along with things like the ability to just nullify a killers 2 second gen kick with the tap of a button mid chase...and now what's showing is that many, many survivors aren't as good as they thought they were.

Everyone knows you are heavily killer-sided poster. So saying you played survivor and survivor is perfectly fine with all the nerfs probably doesn't ring true for anyone reading your post.

The basekit changes are definitely helping M1 killers in chase. The dead hard nerf is rewarding killers for outplaying a survivor in a loop, no more "press E to outplay". People used to dread playing killer but these new changes will definitely attract more killer players. Gens are still being done quickly, but the chases are feeling more rewarding and fun now. What can i say, killer is actually feeling like killer now.

And survivor mains over reacting that the game has become killer sided, just know that you need killers to even have dbd, and before this patch, killer was at a miserable state and few people actually bothered playing it. Survivors just want a 4 on 1 stomping every game. As survivors you have to survive, it doesn't have to be a 4 man domination every game, and the killer shouldn't be your punching bag.

Hope they keep these changes, and not listen to survivor main cry babies who always like their games in easy mode.

We need to nerf survivors more! Also, we need to nerf Pig.

I'm a 50/50 player, and I think Survivor not only became more difficult, but practically impossible.

I've played a few games on both sides, and I never felt such a clear distress on one side over the other than I have now. Killers have been playing particularly nasty, and Survivors have been particularly rage-quit sensitive. Call of Brine and Overcharge has overtaken the entire Killer meta, and all the changes on the Survivor has made playing Survivor seem like a complete L. Only won one game and it was because I ran the Killer for 3 generators.

Also, the matchmaking incentive doesn't work. Survivor queue times are very slow, but they are the ones that get the incentive? That ain't right.

Anyone else feeling the same way? I don't want to seem like I'm bitching and moaning.

Also, the matchmaking incentive doesn't work. Survivor queue times are very slow, but they are the ones that get the incentive? That ain't right

Survivors are getting the incentive because there are proportionally more killers playing than survivor. The survivor queues are long because of matchmaking and MMR.

No. Thankfully, I'm not, and BHVR agrees. I'm not responsible for you or how you perceive everything as a slight. It's not about you.

BHVR doesn't agree with you, they only say that you can face-camp. They didn't make any morality judgements on face-camping.

I'm going to discuss this philosophically with you because I think it's an interesting topic.

Most people know that face-camping at gen 5 is intentionally making another human being's experience miserable because they have empathy. If a person doesn't realize that face-camping at gen 5 makes another human beings experience miserable, then that would mean that person either hasn't developed empathy yet or is lacking at least some aspect of empathy. I think most people finish developing empathy somewhere in the mid twenties. So if you are young, you may not have even fully developed empathy yet.

Now having a lack of empathy can actually be a good thing, because it can allow people to make judgements that that are horrifying for other people. Like deciding who gets a heart transplant. Also, a large number of CEOs tend to score really low on empathy.

And of course there are serial killers and people who play killer on DBD. (Just kidding).

And no - killers in the last year since SBMM was enabled have quit. Many of them have. This is why survivors were waiting upwards to 20+ minutes for queues since then. There's evidence to back that up.

I'm not responsible for your lack of fun, and that does not make me toxic. Listen to yourself and the kind of nonsense you're advocating.

I hate face-camping at gen 5 and I feel the only way the developers are going to see how big a problem it is, is to just go ahead and do it and show how it's affecting the game.

I want DBD to succeed and if there's a mechanic that running players off of the game, then I feel obligated to show proof.

You won't be right. Survivors threaten to leave every time something of theirs is nerfed. They never do. History proves my point.

    He's right so far.

Also, I rarely see survivors threatening to quit. It's actually killers that seem really prone to threatening to quit and not do anything.
