I'm surprised toxic MM hasn't killed the game yet. I'm regularly sent to survivor sided maps when the killer is 5+ ranks lower than me. At least he had an indoor map, which is always good for hit and run Wraith.

”Toxic” matchmaking? That’s a new one.

You seem to imply the game intentionally sends you to survivor-sided maps when you’re outmatched. Unless you mean maps offerings, that’s nonsense.

So the perk's entire effect would JUST be to negate stuff like BT and DS? Feel like designing a perk for camping is generally a bad move for the health of the game. It would be pretty useless for anything but playing like a complete dick with a Bubba's basement loadout or something.

It is currently past midnight for me, and I'm just spitballing.

    You're completely right, though.

  • Demo broke the washer when he tried to wash his jeans. Several cat guts were found clogging up the drain. Max got it working again, but he couldn't get the smell out.

He just needed to check the darn pockets.

  • Another random idea:

What if this perk made Basement hooks act like P-Head's cages? As in, when hooked, all hook-related don't activate.

That's why I said it gives bloodpoints post trial, like BBQ.

Ok so, with that, and tokens not being unique to survivors, that would at most be:

    25% per token X max 8 unhooks = 200% ADDITIONAL BP.

200%, meaning 16k bonus BP if completely maxed out, + the normal 8k = 24k from Sacrifice alone.

    MONSTROUS SHRINE

    • When a Survivor unhooks another Survivor from a basement hook while you're more than 32 metres away from that hooked Survivor, get a Token, for every Token get a 25% stackable bonus to bloodpoints in the Sacrifice category.
    • Awarded post Trial.

Just make it a bonus bloodpoint Perk for not camping.

So... at most, earn 4k extra BP for not camping the basement?

EDIT: Maths never were my strong suit. I had the numbers for the Sacrifice BP offering in mind.

    25% x 4 = 100%, or another 8K if maxed out.

My favorites to play as killer are Dead Dawg Saloon, Hawkins, Lerys, Midwich, Coldwind, and Lampkin Lake.

    L-Lampkin Lane?!

In all seriousness, Wretched Shop is one of my most consistently good maps as Killer. Rancid Abattoir and Ironworks of Misery are decent too. Strangely, Pale Rose is usually nice to me as well.

  • Some add-on descriptions have changed to be nonsensical, which previously also happened with a certain Clown add-on before he got his buffs. Perhaps it's a "hint"?

    Sure hope so.

Imo a change to keys would be to "repair/unlock" the hatch which should take 15 seconds to open with hard skill checks if you miss 2 in a row the key breaks to a broken key. The killers should get a hatch imagine that shows the % of the hatch completion in red.

This still doesn't solve the the 3gen + key = 2 out for free problem, it just makes it so it cannot be done in the killer's face.

  • Here's hoping the Grand Key Rework TM is going to improve things.

  • Maybe the timing was off?

  • I feel like an (and imo, most likely) answer was already given in this very thread. Almo’s refusal to answer (while still saying there is a reason) tells me that it’s a bit of an easter egg of sorts. Just saying “Oh yeah, it’s average amount of holes in a Swiss cheese” would ruin the novelty.

I can’t speak for everyone, as there may be some genuine cases of OCD here, but y’all freaking out over a number not divisible by 5 or 6 need to calm down. It’s not like you hit every single one of your blades, so the whole “but it’s x health states” point is moot anyhow.

48 would’ve looked even more arbitrary. 42 could maybe have worked, but you’d need to stretch your imagination to have that reference make sense for Trickster.

  • It’s the constant “Entity summoning” noise when you’re hooked for the first time. It just stays around indefinitely now.

    Which Amnesia?

    Don't say the Pig one.

Gameplay wise, A Machine for Pigs was by far the weakest from the three, yeah. It's story, premise, setting and music still make it one of my absolute favourite games, though.

  • image.png

Don't you mean this guy? There's no single "Monster" in any Amnesia game.

Some spoilers for the three Amnesia games (it won't let me hide them):

This is a Grunt, the enemy type you'll see the most. There's also the Brutes, or even the Suitors from the Justine add-on. None of them really possess any powers beyond their physical force.

There's also the man-pigs from the second game, and the ghouls and the wraiths from the third.

As for main antagonists, there's Alexander from the first game, the titular Machine from the second game (which gets way too much flak imo) and Empress Tihana from the third. The latter two... I really don't think they work that well considering their associated themes. Especially the Machine would be weird, for obvious reasons.

There's also "The Shadow" from the first and third, which is not unlike the Entity, though more protective. Since it lacks any real physical form, I also can't really see it as a killer.

  • Creating your own variation of something allows for far more freedom and, in my arguably limited experience, is way more fun to create.

When using known characters, such as Frankenstein, his Creature, Dracula, etc., people already know how the story goes. There's hardly anything to add onto it without changing the canon of the source material. Moreover, there's also the fact that when you use those characters, you also have to stay true to people's expectations and associations with the character in how you represent them, how they play, how they "feel". Otherwise, it's just not that character, which defeats the entire point.

Could they work? Maybe. I'd much rather see more creative spins on already highly established tropes, though.

Why would you be thinking that instead of "I really don’t want to have music blasted in my ear, hear actual literal babies wail in the distance, and continuously be shouted at in a language I can’t even identify"?

Because, if I have it turned off, there is potential information I miss out on. The constant idea that I could be missing out on a match-deciding piece of intel is enough for me to turn it back on.

    FOMO, I believe it’s called.

  • @Tsulan said:

Ingame voice chat is the only fair solution. Everything else also helps SWF.

This would ruin the game for me. I really don’t want to have music blasted in my ear, hear actual literal babies wail in the distance, and continuously be shouted at in a language I can’t even identify. This, for me, would kill whatever is left of the game’s atmosphere.

Turn it off, I hear you say? I’d constantly be thinking “I could have more information if I just turned it on.”

  • Can’t say I’ve gotten Springwood more than usual. Definitely Ormond, though.

    Also Sanctum of Wrath, specifically.

  • Yes, but, that assumes your teammates also know of and use said strategies.

  • Isn’t that reportable? It’s straight-up racism, is it not?

  • Introducing a slab of wood to Spirit’s forehead whilst she’s invisible. *Cheff’s kiss*

I also had this one game I was trying out spoopy myers on Hawkins. There was this one gen at an exit gate, and just enough space behind the wall for me to hide myself. A poor Ash slowly and catiously approaches the gen, and goes for the repair, back facing the gate, and me. He even lets go, checks one corner, and returns with a false sense of security.

    Meanwhile me praying that;

    he didn’t hear me;

    he didn’t have Spine Chill;

I do agree with that no one likes being tunneled, but an out positioned injured survivor over a health one running towards shack why would I not go for the easy target

I don’t disagree that it’s the better option. When it comes down to it. I just smack ‘em down and move on from there.

  • Why not tunnel? Because it’s nothing short of miserable to be on the receiving end of it.

I am fully aware that the Killer is under no obligation to deliver a fun game for the other side, but the Killer is the only actual source of fun of the entire match, period. I want everyone to be able to test their skill against mine. And from there, what happens, happens. Effiency be damned.

That’s not to say I don’t get really sweaty. But I will never, ever tunnel a random and innocent survivor to death just so I can win at video game. Not because of Hadnofunfield or whatever map offering, not because of an obnoxious flashlight, and definitely not because they outplayed me. The one and only exception was old OoO users.

  • I think escape attempts should take significantly longer and keep the RNG aspect as it is. Also have saving others from a trap take much longer. The latter in particular, ‘cause that is guaranteed escape.

For an escape attempt, like, say, 7 seconds?

And for saving someone else, double that, so 14?

  • Surprisingly, I got them all rather quickly. I did have to prioritise getting crowns whenever I encountered them, even if in chase.

Other than that, I just got really lucky, I guess.

  • That’s so many charms though. We’d need an overhaul of the entire menu to accommodate for that.

  • I’ve been accused of hacking dozens of times. Nothing yet so…y’all are good.

  • Several people trying to mock me for taking a crown on a licensed character. One of them went absolutely ballistic on me, for some reason.

Apparently nabbing some free BPs is a warcrime.

  • Considering the stability issues the map may still have, upping the chances of getting it may not be the best of ideas just yet.

Nothing is useless, sure there are something cost too much for their worth, but nothing is useless, everything improve something, even a little.

You're supposed to grind forward. You pay 15.000BP for item, addon, offering. You earn may be 20.000BP, or may be just 10.000BP. It doesnt matter, both give you from 3 Brown item/addon to 4 Green item/addon for the next game. You will never run out of item, addon, offering. Ever.

We're struggle in grinding because of Perks, not item/addon/offering.

You're not wrong, but I really don't see BHVR removing perk tiers. It's evident they suffer from an invested cost fallacy, and for better or worse, we gotta work with that in mind.

  • Theoretically, these are the maximum payouts of all the BP offerings (on their own, also not including event ones). Please be aware that the percentages are the additional percentages. I.e. 50% means 150% total BP gain, or a 1,5 multiplier.

    Brown Flowers/Wreaths (50% in one category): 4000 - 3000 = 1000 gain

    Yellow Flowers/Wreaths (75% in one category): 6000 - 4000 = 2000 gain

    Green Flowers/Wreaths (100% in one category): 8000 - 5000 = 3000 gain

    (Yellow) Sealed Envelopes/Hollow Shells (25% in all categories): 8000 - 4000 = 4000 gain

    (Yellow) Escape Cakes/Survivor Puddings (100% in all categories): 32.000 - 4000 = 28.000 gain

(Green) BPS (100% in all categories): 32.000 - 5000 = 27.000 gain (but for all players)

(Green) Bound Envelopes (survivor exclusive, 25% in all categories): 8000 - 5000 = 3000 gain (but for all survivors)

Compared to the yellow rarity envelope and cake/pudding, the flowers and wreaths really stand out as giving a very negligible bonus in BP. The green ones can buy you one (1) brown offering (for 3000), and that's only when you maxed out the category. Lower-tier flowers and wreaths can't even buy you anything at all.

Moreover, the Sealed Envelopes/Hollow Shells are a really hard sell compared to the Escape Cakes/Survivor Puddings of the same rarity, cost and requirements. A whopping potential 22K difference. Not to mention how uncommon it is to max out all categories, especially for Survivors.

So, what would I change? Apart from adding more score events to make categories easier to max out, particularly in Survival:

    Brown Flowers/Wreaths - 125% in one category: 10.000 - 3000 = 7000 gain

    Yellow Flowers/Wreaths - 150% in one category: 12.000 - 4000 = 8000 gain

    Green Flowers/Wreaths - 200% in one category: 16.000 - 5000 = 11.000 gain

    Sealed Envelopes/Hollow Shells - 50% in all categories: 16.000 - 4000 = 12.000 gain

    Escape Cakes/Survivor Puddings - is now green rarity: 32.000 - 5000 = 27.000 gain

BPS - is now purple rarity: 32.000 - 6000 = 26.000 gain (but for all players)

    Bound Envelopes - 75% in all categories: 24.000 - 5000 = 19.000 gain (but for all Survivors)

NEW: A killer exclusive offering to serve as an equivalent of the changed Bound Envelopes

Gore Cupcake - green rarity, 75% in all categories: 24.000 - 5000 = 19.000 gain (but only for the Killer)

    My thoughts:

The Flowers/Wreaths see a doubling in their max payout, making for almost quadruple the max potential BP gain. Sealed Envelopes/Hollow Shells are also tripled in their max potential BP gain. This, in my mind, should make them far better options to pop, whilst still warranting their rarity compared to other, better offerings.

The Escape Cake/Survivor Pudding rarity changes are more so because it doesn't make sense for them to be in the rarity they're in as they are, as well as allowing some room for Sealed Envelopes/Hollow Shells's to exist as yellow tiers. The same goes for BPS. Not the best of reasons, I know, but it's my list. I also didn't want to change their percentages too much, as I fear they may become "too much". They still want some grind, after all.

Sealed Envelopes/Hollow Shells' rarity remains unchanged, as getting their max potential is not exactly a guarantee. Popping a green Flowers/Wreath ought to give a more consistent payout. The same idea applies for Escape Cakes/Survivor Puddings compared to green Flowers/Wreaths.

I didn't want to take out any offerings either, and have even added my own. The Gore Cupcake (which I swear I've seen somewhere) is just there to fill up the gap that the Bound Envelopes fill for the Survivor side.

EDIT: improved readability slightly, it removes all my tabs for some reason.

Yes, and killers were buffed, so the killer rate would be higher. Anyway, any data not showing killers need buffs would be discredit in this killer forum

Higher compared to what? This is data from 4 years, it can hardly be compared to anything. Besides, back in 2016 nobody played on the level we do now.

  • @Ryan489x said:

has it been determained if licensed survivors and killers count toward the crown total even if they don't get to keep the cosmetic?

They don't. It's just the "wearable" crowns that count. I think this was mentioned on their Twitter somewhere.

Trapper, by the looks of the weapon and (lack of) clothes.

  • I think you mean “archetype” and not stereotype.

As for me, as a die-hard Tapp main, I live by the phrase “If it glows, it goes”.

  • Both of these. Especially the vertical scroll thing. Include it for all menus, whilst we're at it.

  • Regardless of the side I'm on, I prefer longer games of which the outcome was contested and deserved. I like steamrolling teams as much as the next guy, but I strongly prefer to be equally matched. I don't want to feel bad for the other side.

Longer games almost always give more points, at that.

  • I mean, who hasn't? But then, there's also a difference between a bad survivor and simply making a bad play from time to time. Lord knows how many times I've done the latter.

  • You seem very eager to throw the blame exclusively on BHVR. Fact of the matter is, we don't know what the circumstances are, and most likely won't know for some time, if ever.

I'm guessing both parties involved are "to blame" here, whatever that even means in this context. Even if BHVR hasn't met Sony's (or whatever company's) requirements, you can also argue that said requirements could be a bit extreme. We simply don't know either way.

    you get them with shards.

there's no reason to not give players a mask cosmetic.

The reason I gave was the reason they don't. Simple as that.

I don't disagree they could/should do this, by the by, but I don't think they'll add additional crowned versions of cosmetics (which, in the end, Susie and Joey are) you obtain through the store, rift, or other means.

The crowns are added on the base character outfits. Frank and Julie are the base male and female Legion. Susie and Joey, as I said, are not.

  • Because Frank and Julie are what come with the chapter. Susie and Joey are obtained through other means.

  • Short answer: almost certainly not.

Long(ish) answer: the maps we have now are considered "their" maps. If anything, I consider this the better option, as it gives a little bit more substance to already existing realms. Do you want yet another map offering for every Killer added?

  • I only burn all remaining BP offerings apart from the brown ones. When it comes to prestiging, I only consider doing it once I've run out of add-ons I usually run.
