  • This counterplay some of you keep mentioning… How come I’ve never, ever seen it spelled out? It’s always a referral to some video. If it’s that clear, you should be able to explain it without much trouble.

Also, it’s been 2 years. Surely, surely if there truly was consistent counterplay against Spirit specifically , far more survivors would at the very least attempt such counterplay.

  • @CheeseAnton said:

Ghostface, it isn't even a chapter. I hated how the devs tried getting away with calling Paragraphs, Chapters. Some may say this is unfair but the devs called it a chapter so I'm judging it as a chapter.

The killer was broken at launch and still is (the reveal mechanic has never been fair, not even once. Nothing is more aggravating then centering Ghostface in the center of your screen looking at him for 3 seconds just to get exposed).

Their was only one good perk the entire chapter, Corrupt Intervention, everything else was either okay or Furtive Chase.

The devs didn't even try hard enough to get license to the movies, just the mask itself (which is not why we liked Scream, it's not the mask it's everything else), leading to a disappointing license (many people including myself wanted Sidney Prescott, but it might never happen).

And the worst part is, I think Ghostface basically killed the Paragraph game because of the backlash but it all stemmed from the devs doing a rushed and terrible job the 3rd Anniversary Event (for people who weren't around then, trust me, the 5th Year Anniversary was one of the best events ever made in comparison to 3rd years "event")

Don’t forget how he was accidentally revealed before he was even teased.

  • Darkness Among Us.

Weird subversion of all the expectations from the teasers, 4-in-one killer turns out to be “haha knife go brrr” with an obsession with their hands.

Legions exploiting the first deep wound version, with the backwards chase to ensure a down within a set amount of time. Unbeatable, no. But infuriating as all hell.

Jeff, in my experience, is one of the least played survivors, and I see his perks even less.

Absolutely massive map that even was disabled for a while not that long after its release. (Huh.)

    At least Discordance is nice.

  • Well, there you go.

I’m probably going to make another thread in the feedback section, along with my other idea of a score event upon any gen being completed granting all living survivors 400BP in the Survival category. Might even do a megathread at some point.

I honestly don't remember the last time I used a BP offering that wasn't a pudding or a cake or the letters

So then you have 12 offerings that just clutter up the bloodweb. If their payout was massively increased, would you burn them more often?

  • Also, gotta do it when injured.

  • If you mean as a game mechanic, the first thing that comes to mind is how it was done in TLoZ Twilight Princess. Not sure how that would differ from the tracking already present with scratches, and such. Perhaps it could stay around for longer?

If you mean the player somehow experiencing the olfactory delights that are suggested in-game... Chances are the pig vat drop may not be nearly as popular. Although not sure how DbD, of all games, would do this when the technology isn't even on the market yet.

  • Am I weird for not minding getting swamp at all?

  • I have my own opinion on the filter currently in the game, but asking for people to behave themselves isn't that strange, is it? There is stuff that's just downright inappropriate, regardless of where it's posted. Generally speaking, any forum without the explicit mention of being NSFW, does not allow NSFW content. That's not infantilisation, that's just etiquette. Some people just don't want to see/read that kind of thing.

Besides, DbD, when it comes down to it, is still rather tame for its M-rating.

  • Copy/Pasted this from my reply in another similar thread:

Compared to the yellow rarity envelope and cake/pudding, the flowers and wreaths really stand out as giving a very negligible bonus in BP. The green ones can buy you one (1) brown offering (3000), and that's only when you maxed out the category. Lower-tier flowers and wreaths can't even buy you anything at all.

Moreover, the Sealed Envelopes/Hollow Shells are a really hard sell compared to the Escape Cakes/Survivor Puddings of the same rarity, cost and requirements. A whopping potential 22K difference. Not to mention how uncommon it is to max out all categories, especially for survivors.

So, what would I change? Apart from adding more score events to make categories easier to max out, particularly for Survival:

Brown Flowers/Wreaths: 125% in one category (up from 50%):

    10.000 - 3000 = 7000 gain

    (6k increase)

Yellow Flowers/Wreaths: 150% in one category (up from 75%):

    12.000 - 4000 = 8000 gain

    (6k increase)

Green Flowers/Wreaths: 200% in one category (up from 100&):

    16.000 - 5000 = 11.000 gain

    (8k increase)

Sealed Envelopes/Hollow Shells: 50% in all categories (up from 25%):

    16.000 - 4000 = 12.000 gain

    (8k increase)

Escape Cakes/Survivor Puddings: is now green rarity (was yellow, increasing cost by 1k):

    32.000 - 5000 = 27.000 gain

    (1k decrease)

BPS: is now purple rarity (was green, increasing cost by 1k):

    32.000 - 6000 = 26.000 gain  (but for all players)

    (1k decrease)

Bound Envelopes: 75% in all categories (was 25%):

    24.000 - 5000 = 19.000 gain  (but for all Survivors)

    (16k increase)

NEW: A killer exclusive offering to serve as an equivalent of the changed Bound Envelopes

Gore Cupcake: green rarity, 75% in all categories:

    24.000 - 5000 = 19.000 gain  (but only for the Killer)

    My thoughts:

The Flowers/Wreaths see a doubling in their max payout, making for almost quadruple the max potential BP gain. Sealed Envelopes/Hollow Shells are also tripled in their max potential BP gain. This, in my mind, should make them far better options to pop, whilst still warranting their rarity compared to other, better offerings.

The Escape Cake/Survivor Pudding rarity changes are more so because it doesn't make sense for them to be in the rarity they're in as they are, as well as allowing some room for Sealed Envelopes/Hollow Shells's to exist as yellow tiers. The same goes for BPS. Not the best of reasons, I know, but it's my list. I also didn't want to change their percentages too much, as I fear they may become "too much". They still want some grind, after all.

Sealed Envelopes/Hollow Shells' rarity remains unchanged, as getting their max potential is not exactly a guarantee. Popping a green Flowers/Wreath ought to give a more consistent payout. The same idea applies for Escape Cakes/Survivor Puddings compared to green Flowers/Wreaths.

I didn't want to take out any offerings either, and have even added my own. The Gore Cupcake (which I swear I've seen somewhere) is just there to fill up the gap that the Bound Envelopes fill for the Survivor side.

  • Lightborn salt has to be one of my favourite forms of salt. I caught myself maniacally chuckling at survivors losing their load over it several times.

  • At least I hope they redo Trapper’s. He has an item he can use right there.

For Wraith, I think playing on the invisible assailant trope would work. Lift ‘em up in the air, inflict damage coming from an unseen source.

For Billy… not sure, actually. The only things I can think of are too similar to Bubba’s or Deathslinger’s.

  • Ad hominems are very common too. I myself am guilty of this, though I would also say a teensy bit of snark should also not send someone into a hissyfit.

  • I do find it funny how the title poses a question on which a "No" means "it's not out of the question.", yet many of y'all don't seem to have noticed that.

  • I want Clown's hat. That is really all.

Knowing myself, though, I'll probably inadvertently finish it regardless.

You are an uncouth philistine to suggest that this. By disregarding the banana for a hat, I can easily surmise your souless nature.

May God save you and farewell.

    Won't it get smelly though?

In all seriousness, I only see now that you're taking the piss.

I'm just gonna be forthright, I really, genuinely struggle with distinguishing between real and "bait" posts. Unless they're really obvious, I genuinely can't tell. Could be because I'm on the spectrum, but that aside. I also am still unsure whether the OP was genuine or not, so there's why I replied to this thread in the manner I did.

Colors: dbd used to heavily rely on for filters for maps, and at one seeming point, color palates for characters were very helpful and interesting. Its classically intuitive for the crewmate to fit in as a survivor; they can add some fun skins as alts such as a detailed NASA outfit (gold outfit with a shiny silver visor version for auric cells, plain white for iridescent shards) or simply a yellow crewmate with a banana peel for a hat

Lore: like dbd, among us has ambiguous lore that fits into the common dbd narrative; that requires some imagination on the players part...unlike fnaf and it's unimaginative takeaway from Chuck E Cheese or even Disney world animatronics from the 90s. Simply put, among us CAN fit in plain and nicely whereas FNAF would require alot more extensive insight that I feel many dbd players could not frame without effort or an irrational excuse

Carbon copies: have you forgotten how many palate swaps are found in this game? Not only do we have the standard Hag, but we have nearly every color of the alphabet Hag found on the store

Sorry but not sorry, you're mistaken and Among Us will always be the superior and sensible choice over FNAF.

I'm sorry, but you seem to have greatly misunderstood what I meant. That may be my fault, I struggle to express myself sometimes.

The colour thing was referring to the only thing in Among Us that distinguishes players from one another is their colour and hat. There is no personality, no emotion, no details, nothing. That isn't remotely like how DbD uses its Auras, which are the colours you refer to. Those aren't palette swaps. Smash Bros. uses palette swaps. There are palette swaps in the store, sure, but those aren't exactly your only choice, are they?

It makes the most sense for the "Crewmate" to be a survivor, yes, but they would greatly stand out. There's not a single given name for any crewmate. They don't even look remotely human. Dress 'em up in a spacesuit and adding a really stupid hat would just be, well, stupid.

Is insight into the source material that important? I don't know jack about the majority of the licenses already in the game. They're still cool inclusions, and from what I can gather, their add-ons have lots of cool easter eggs and callbacks to their media. What can you possibly reference within Among Us? Henry Stickmin? Not much to go off of, is it now?

How is FNaF unimaginative? It plays on the uncanny valley effect. Never been done before, hardly. But unimaginative?

Irrational excuse? The Entity is known to take the scum of the earth. Mass murderers, deeply corrupted minds, literal beasts. How does Springtrap not fall under that? And how does a character that goes "haha tongue/gun/knife go brrr" and nothing more fit? There is no given reason behind why the Impostors do what they do. The fact alone that you need to think up a fanfiction to even determine that makes them a much harder fit lore-wise.

As for the carbon copy thing, you wildly, and I mean wildly misinterpreted what I meant with that. I was just arguing that the main 4 FNaF characters haven't got much going for them personality-wise. Therefore, personality-wise, they are virtually carbon copies.

  • I do think we should find a way to include the basic chase/menu themes we have currently as well. I'd dearly miss those. That said, yes, that would be cool.

However, it would also take away the moment of uncertainty when you hear a generic theme and don't know who it is yet. Up until demo, the TR indicated "The Killer", and not "It's Doc, and it cannot be anyone but Doc.". It presented (and still does, in many cases) quasi-stealth options those with a unique TR simply don't have.

Maybe I'm a weirdo, but if I got sliced, stabbed, diced or hooked, I wouldn't sound like I enjoyed it and wanted more. 🤷‍♀️

Yeah, but... The VA's aren't being subjected to that either, are they?

  • Just you try to sound injured without actually injuring yourself.

  • What does Among Us have to offer in comparison to FNaF? A complete and utter lack of surrounding canon, versus a universe with notoriously convoluted lore. A lack of actual characters, only colours, and a vague suggestion of affiliation, versus a whole myriad of admittedly carbon-copies personality-wise, but at least 2 actual villains, to my knowledge.

FNaF may also have long lost its scary factor, but Among Us never intended to have one to begin with.

Which is the better game(s) aside, FNaF would fit DbD infinitely better than Among Us ever will.

They could do human astronaut suits if the bean astronaut suits is the problem. It'll be a licensed chapter so it's not like they need heavy lore. I just don't think a lack of name is a problem.

But then, is it still Among Us? That’s what I meant with alienating the source material. The name is the smallest issue here.

  • @CornHub said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2409507#Comment_2409507

I think the lack of arms, stiff body, singular solid color, bean proportions, & lack of detail adds character. People also said the Trickster looked out of place & alot of killers have nouns for names like nurse, doctor, & oni.

The lack of character adds character? Huh.

Trickster is still recognisably human. A very unhinged one, but still a human that can believably hold a weapon.

Yes, they have noun names, but those are nicknames. They also have actual human names. Sally, Herman, Kazan, and so forth. The only exceptions are Demo and Nemesis, the former a poorly understood alien-like creature not unlike an animal, which wouldn’t even know what a name means, and the latter being a man-made construct, having no need of a human name.

  • At the very least, FNaF has characters with a humanoid build.

Among Us’ ??? (which character, exactly?) lacks two entire limbs and an actual face. A goomba has more to it.

  • You don’t think the lack of arms, the stiffness of the entire upper body, the single solid colour, the weird proportions, the entire lack of a face or any visible body part beyond the stubby legs, the complete lack of voice, and so forth, looks wildly out of place, regardless of where you put it? It doesn’t even have an actual name. “Crewmate” or “Impostor” aren’t names, they’re nouns.

  • The moment when you start a trial, not knowing what you’re facing. The longer nothing happens, the more paranoid I get. At some point, another survivor popping out of the corner is enough to make me gasp.

  • How on earth would this work without highly alienating the source material and its fans? Or alternatively, how would it not look massively out of place in DbD?

  • Simple fact of the matter is that people don’t want FNaF, for various (both legitimate and not-so legitimate) reasons. And there’s also people that do want it.

As for the “spamming the forums” thing, I’m personally also getting tired of the ever returning Chucky, Xenomorph, Candyman and even Jason threads. The arguments in those threads aside, that comes across as a little hypocritical.

Does it change my mind regarding those licenses? No. I’m largely indifferent towards any license that’s not included already.

Also, the “it’s for kids” argument. Yes, it has a younger audience, but you’re not convincing me there’s no actual kids in DbD. The themes in FNaF aren’t exactly for kids anyway, are they? I can’t say I know why it caught the attention of a younger audience (myself in my teens included, I’m 21 now), but how exactly is a child murderer “for kids”?

As for Springtrap’s design specifically, yes it’s a tad weird and not exactly scary. But is Wraith scary? Is Huntress? Hell, Nemesis, even? Intimidating, sure, but scary?

How is the consistent use of the uncanny valley effect of supposed child friendly animatronics to create relentless hunters not at the very least vaguely unsettling? You could argue that we’ve become desentisised, and that’s fair. But, then, nothing truly is scary anymore, so the whole “it’s not scary” thing is moot.

They also don’t have to use FNaF as their way into an animatronic killer. But, if they ever did an animatronic-esque killer that is not FNaF related, the outcry would be even worse.

  • Losing all progress. The idea of having to regain all the BP’s spent to get where I am now… Yikes.

Regardless of who’d be at fault, I’d just stay away from the game entirely out of spite should that happen.

  • Well that's the wonderful thing about DbD bugs. They can be quite literally anything and come out of seemingly nowhere!

As for what I actually hope to see one day is a killer's mori animation being another killer's. I.e., Trapper performing Plague's mori. I already had my other "wishlist bug", the visible first-person model during the map pan.

  • Ah, I remember this one match on Rotten Fields.

Beginning of the match. Feng and I start on a gen. I spot a Jigsaw Box not too far away through the corn, and point to it to let Feng know it’s a Pig.

    It was not a Pig.

  • I’ve seen the majority of the roster rather well represented.

However, the ones I see the fewest are Twins (by far), Hag and Oni. Maybe followed by Pig and Clown.

Wraith is the best represented right now. Followed by the always present Huntress, and currently Nemesis after that.

  • As an avid Kindred user, I can confidently say that it cannot be assigned any meaning at all. For the sole reason that it’s literally the only thing a hooked survivor can do.

If you assign any meaning to it, there’s just way too much potential for misinformation, to the point that you may as well check anyway.

They may be tabbed out when being facecamped, leaving them limp. They may be bored and spam it. They may be doing it in rhythm to the music they’re listening to. You simply don’t have any certainty. Then there’s also the matter of interpretation by others. What is considered quick? Do they even notice you doing it at all?

When you have big content creators who don’t even have a consistent meaning for themselves, let alone one agreed upon - and, more importantly, actually consistently used as such - by multiple content creators, you cannot expect the majority of players to know and express one single meaning.

You used to be able to switch killer based on the survivors in your lobby. If you dodge since that's your only option the game will throw almost any killer at them since queue time is more important than anything else. Since killer choice was disabled a year ago BHVR could have easily ranked the maps from most killer sided to most survivor sided and handicapped the side that's is 10 ranks too high.

I've been playing since Spirit's release, I am aware of that.

That still wouldn't fix the main issue, and imo, is WAY too subjective to even do in the first place. Not to mention that rank 10's or above typically don't even understand why the map is x-sided in the first place.

The issue lies in the matchmaking, and changing the maps won't fix that. Bad survivors will die to good killers, regardless of the map.

  • @Kirkylad said:

Hatch grabs no because I remember the days of the stand off and that was the worst lol. The hatch spawn suggestion I think would be good though but they'll just say they can't because of the achievement, even though they could just change it and let anyone keep it who's already done it.

Given that Killers can now close the hatch, I don’t think hatch standoffs would happen in the same capacity as back then.

  • I don’t have a screenshot of it, but the one mori that’s always going to be dear to me is the last Tombstone mori of the game that got me the Evil Incarnate achievement. That was… *chef’s kiss*

Imagine yourself a hatch standoff, on the Game. Specifically the room you drop down into from the pig trap. Pallet still standing, and the last survivor, Ace, standing safely behind it. I’m on the hatch. We both know that if he comes too close, he’s dead. If Ace can get me on the other side of the pallet, he’ll be able to jump right in, making the entire attempt at the achievement void.

I suddenly move from the hatch. It startles him, and he drops the pallet. Satisfied, I return to the hatch, leaving Ace with his strongest asset down. I have Brutal Strength, but I didn’t want to risk it.

Ace tries to feint disappearing behind a corner, but I can see his hat poking out. I seize my chance to break the pallet, and quickly return to the hatch. He sees he needs to be clever about it, and runs upstairs, presumably to drop down from above. I stay put.

He comes back a few moments later, seeing me staring at him, and realises that the stagger is going to get him killed.

I sneeze irl, and I lose track of him.

Then, from behind the barrels. His hat again. Very close. Too close.

Michael grabs him by the throat, lifts him into the air. The knife that occupied the side of my screen disappearing twice into his heart. Ace tries to pound his shoulder, to no avail.

And then, Ace’s dead body is thrown towards the hatch, just shy from its foggy salvation. As if to say, “You can have it.”

    And thats great.

Why should you get anither chance when you failed already?

While I agree with the sentiment, it also goes against the whole “David vs Goliath” theme that surrounds the entire game.

If I may be so free to assume you’d like to see the hatch be removed altogether, you then may as well trigger the EGC when there’s only 1 survivor left, or even just kill them on the spot.

It’s utterly hopeless for them, and if no gen is close to completion, they can’t do jack. So what do they do? They try to get themselves killed as quickly as possible. Quite possibly the most counterintuitive thing you could have in a game such as this. Alternatively, maybe have one last chase, or maybe if they’re spiteful or scared, make themselves impossible to find. In either case, they are well and truly dead on sight, without anything they can really do.

At least the hatch opening for the last survivor makes for some actual gameplay when you’re the only one standing. Will you find it before the killer does? Oh #########, they saw you. Pray that you find it before you go down. Or maybe you should wait at the exit gate instead.

As opposed to: Welp, time to become a scarecrow.

TL;DR: Hatch opening for the last survivor is fine, imo.
