Semantics.
It is undeniably easier to chase Survivors due to DH and DS (the most common chase extenders) being heavily nerfed. Ergo, it is undeniably easier to tunnel.
Yes, but then it shouldn't follow that "killers are tunneling more because it's easier now" because every aspect of the killer gameplay got easier. There is no reason why the game being overall easier would lead to increased tunneling, that would only be the case if tunneling specifically was made easier, which as we just established, it's not the case. The only explanation is that killers now have less of an incentive not to tunnel, ie the perks that encouraged them to roam and spread chases/hooks were nerfed.

You questioned if it was harder to tunnel before.
It was.
It wasn't harder to tunnel so much as it was harder to play killer in general. It's not like any of those things made tunneling in particular any harder than the rest of the gameplay so mentioning them seems kind of misleading to me.

It could be.
DS was very punishing, DH was way better, pallets were broken slower and Survivors got way more distance on hit.
But those things encouraged tunneling and camping, not discouraged it. If someone had DS you were better off eating it early in the game than at the end where they could become literally unhookable. DH was essentially bullshit and prolonged chases for half a gen by itself so you'd do best to camp them to the second stage so you'd have to do it with less.
So I really doubt there's anything to this argument.
-
I keep saying this, but nerfing killers in order to curb tunneling and camping is absolutely the wrong way to go. The weaker killers are the more they will camp. The proper way to address this issue is to buff perks that give killers incentives to move around. BBQ, PR, Pop, and Ruin were all extremely healthy perks that got nerfed for no reason in this patch, which is why the camping and tunneling increased.
-
@Pulsar said:

That's true.
There's certainly more Killers facecamping and hard tunneling at 5 gens simply because they can get away with it now.
90 second gens, plus slowdown plus inefficient teammates means they're guaranteed a 2K.
It's less that they can and more like they now have a lot less reasons to leave the hook now that the healthy perks that gave incentives for killers to move around after a hook have been nerfed (Pop, Ruin, BBQ, PR, etc).
-
Unironically yes, though not necessarily your own. It's a team game, and your team's skill matters about as much as yours.

Yeah if NOED and No Way Out are a thing then DS and OTR should also activate at the endgame.
If Corrupt Intervention is a thing then DS and OTR should only activate for the first 120 seconds. Oh wait, I'm comparing completely different perks and that's dumb.
Both of those perks ONLY activate at endgame, so if you want them to be equivalent, then how about NOED being active from the get go like DS and OTR? Oh wait, that's dumb too.

Many survivor mains do not share your opinions. They actually say the exact opposite.
I am not understanding how you come up with "wanted a fair challenge instead of playing bully simulator" when the killrates were not low enough to warrant that opinion. 55% killrates doesn't in any way shape of form constitute to "Bully Simulator".
So that is why I ask who this "we" is. Because it's really you, along with a handful of people if that is the case. Which again, I do not for one second believe you are a survivor main. Especially when you feel the need to add that part to the title and a name like FrostyEyesSusie (a killer's name literally being your username), like it somehow makes your stance more credible.
Do killrates actually mean that much? Devs consider 2 kills a draw and the balance golden standard, but if those kills are gotten at the EGC because after 5 gens the killer managed to finally down someone, camped them and then altruism gotten the better of someone else and he died going for the save, was the game balanced? The "2 kills" crowd would say it is, but I don't think so. BHVR should instead look at the "hooks per gen done" stat rather than "total kills" as a balance measure, but I suppose that's a bit off topic for this thread.

Patch was good, when you remove crutches and a bias that makes one side far too strong, the side losing their advantage will have complainers. I say that as a survivor main too (by hours played per role), the game was far too survivor sided.
Sure there will likely need to be adjustments made here and there but overall I was pleasantly surprised with BHVR, in all honesty I have little love for BHVR but credit where credit is due
I hope I didn't come across as a BHVR basher, I'm also quite positively surprised at the direction BHVR took in this patch. I'm just pointing out that, with the nerfs to perks that were actually healthy and promoted good gameplay, it was a sort of "two steps forward, one step back" sort of deal and I fear BHVR might give in to the whining and go back on the good changes.

Run Surveillance with Pain Resonance. You get the information and the buffed regression. Pop's still good. BBQ wasn't gutted. BBQ's is the closest thing a killer has to a 2v1 in football or a fast break in basketball; you have a survivor hooked, a survivor going for the unhook, and a survivor on gens to chase. BBQ allows the momentum to shift in the killer's favor. I'm telling you things you already know, though. You're not a survivor main. You're a killer main that needs to have the center of attention, constantly. It's killing the game.
BBQ wasn't gutted? It was nerfed, and now killers have no reason to run it anymore, specially since there are other perks that do what it does better. The main reason people ran BBQ was the BP bonus. We all know that, no killer ran it with because they just loved to go look for survivors far away from the hook. Specially if the killer in question didn't have the mobility to make use of the info. It was a good perk for killers to run though, because it incentivized a healthy playstyle. There was zero reason to nerf it, if anything it should be buffed.
Saying Pop or PR is still good... maybe, lets assume for sake of argument that's true. But they are now strickly worse than the current meta regression perks. Why run Pop and have to leave the hook in a hurry when you can run Overcharge and get value out of it constantly? Pop was a healthy perk, Overcharge considerably less so. Yet the devs nerfed Pop and buffed Overcharge, and you're defending that decision? Why? Who benefits from Overcharge overtaking Pop?
@StibbityStabbity said:

When BBQ had bonus BP attached, it was a massive incentive to run it as an intel perk. Without the BP bonus, most people dropped it since only mobile killers can make good use of the intel it provides.
Right on the money.

The fact that you said "it's not fun for killers to stare at hook either." Tells me that you're either a camper or fundamentally don't understand how to play. There has never been and still isn't an instance where camping is mandated. Ever. If survivors swarm hook instead of camping just down them and hook them. They'll get their friend off but in the process they'll also be hooked. If someone is camping they are doing it because THEY WANT TO. There is no other reason to do it.
This is not what I said at all. I said that the devs quite deliberately removed the perks that incentivized killers to leave hooks and roam about a lot, and substituted them for perks that encouraged or synergized with camping, and as a result camping increased. Cause and consequence is all, and in order to combat camping they need to buff said healthy perks.

You're a survivor main who thinks Killers got nerfed this patch and this is now your 3rd thread where you open claiming to be a survivor main and wanting killer perks to be buffed further.
"And finally Pain Resonance. The notification was absolutely crucial to incentivize the killer to leave the hook and go pressure said gen, specially coupled with Dead Man's Switch."
No it wasn't. Tinkerer has arguably always been more of a incentive for killers to leave the hook. PR & DMS took no effort and didn't even require the killer to leave the hook area at all since it automatically locked the gen for them.
I used t o main killer, now I main survivor. Why do you have to take this weird Us vs Them attitude instead of addressing my arguments objectively?
As for your PR remark, you could achieve the same result by simply not pushing the survivor away but keeping the notification so that the killer would have to leave the hook and physically push the survivor out of the gen, no? Why remove the notification and thereby remove the very incentive to move away? Now killers hook someone and trigger the regression, but they have no idea of which gen to go to. So why would they leave the hook? No incentive. See what I mean?

I see where you are coming from, and I agree with you in some of your comments promoting a healthy playstyle for killer. I do think their nerf was warranted though, PR and Pop, BBQ too with the more upcoming changes. They did what they were designed to do, just a little too well.
Starting to feel that all % regression should be scaled on progress and not total, like how pop is now. Push pop back to 25% of current progress, PR 15% current progress and add the scream back, change DMS to activate 5 seconds after hook with duration of 40 seconds. I think Than needs a nerf to 4.5% as well.
If you nerf killers, you'll just encourage more camping and tunneling because they will feel like they need to do that in order to win. Regardless of how accurate that may be, it's a fact. So instead of nerfing killers, they should be buffing them the right ways and not deliberately nerfing the healthy perks like they did with this patch.

You aren't even paying attention to the OP and need to calm down. BBQ being gutted- OP directly stated that he was reffering to making killer hook EVERYONE, because the BP bonus was removed. And op is right prior to this patch as killer i would want my four stacks for points. Now i dont even RUN bbq. its still a great perk but without the BP im trying other perks, and i also have no incentive to spread my hooks around. Everything the OP said is true. Even OTZ has pointed out a lot of that. Currently killers have regression perks that do not encourage them to patrol.
Yes there are perks that CAN let them see gens. But they are not as good as the prior ones. You are just a salty survivor main angry that another survivor main called you out. Calm down and be honest with yourself for ten seconds.
Not to mention you didn't even counter all the points. All you said was "run an EXTRA perk to make pain resonance as good as it used to be." That is a decent combo sure. But first of all telling OP to add another perk to fix the nerf on one is asinine. Secondly you didn't address a single other point he made. You immediately resorted to insulting OP even though they made a tactful and well constructed argument. You shouldn't even be in this discussion with your attitude or lack of comprehension skills.
100% all of the nerfed killer perks encouraged the killer to patrol and chase different people. 100% killer still has strong regression. But EVERY survivor main on this forum is complaining about how camping bubba can use the current perks to block gens without leaving, now here someone is elaborating on that and you insult them.
tl;dr good job op. Ignore this guy.
Thanks, it's encouraging to see someone who actually got my point.

I play survivor exclusevely, I'm just not entitled and think I deser a four man escape every game and can actually work out how the game works. When the killers are disincentivezed to leave the hook, they don't. Simple as. BBQ and Pop were gutted, which is why their usage fell to nearly zero after the nerfs. And even if they werent gutted, they certainly were nerfed, when they should have been buffed instead if anything. They are healthy perks which promoted healthy gamestyles. So why nerf them?

This should be your baseline build to escape trials.
Bond, Saboteur, Kindred, Off the Record.
This is pure information, everything you need to avoid the killer, make plays and get out alive (at least survive to end game)
Saboteur looks like a strange addition but it gives you a lot of information, such as whether the killer is running Scourge Hooks. If they are not, then it tells you round about where the killer and the survivor they are carrying is. If you get a chance to sabo a scourge hook, take it, but don't go looking for it unless...
With bond you see the survivor getting chased and they are coming right to you. In this case you know to hide, and if they go down near you, and you can see an easy hook sabo opportunity, then take it. Otherwise, play to get out (which saboing a scourge hook does)
Kindred doesn't need an explanation.
Off The Record gives you anti-aura reading, 100% Noise reduction and Endurance should they try to tunnel.
If you claim to be having trouble in matches, give this a shot and I guarantee you will be receiving at the very least, silvers in all areas, and it will get you to at least end game.
With all due respect, this is wrong. The proper build is Distortion, Wake up, Left Behind, and Alert. This is how you play the true stealth and be the last one standing game. You keep your eyes on the prize which is to look out for Number One and leave your options open to either a gate escape or a hatch escape.

Never used dead hard the thana and dying light thing are my issues gens take to long and the tunneling has gotten worse since ds nerf also making survivors slower was so so dumb
The tunneling has gotten worse because BHRV removed most of the incentives to leave the hook and spread hooks around:
- BBQ has been gutted which gave killers the incentive to hook everyone and leave the hook to look for far-away survivors due to the aura.
- Pop has been gutted which encouraged killers to hook and then go kick a gen.
- Ruin has been gutted which encouraged killers to move around and pressure survivors out of gens.
- Pain resonance has had the notification removed, which encouraged killers to go to that gen after a hook.
Pain resonance and Pop in particularly were extremely healthy perks because they encourage killers to move and hook. The more hooks you got, the more regression you had. This is what people fail to understand. If you simply nerf killers, they'll be forced to tunnel and camp. If you nerf the perks that give them incentives to move around instead of camping and tunnneling, then they tunnel and camp. The solution was always to give killers enough power that they don't have to tunnel and camp just for a chance at a draw, while also keeping perks that incentivize them to move around strong.
-
All it takes is one survivor to stand on top of the hatch waiting for the killer to come by so they can tbag him to never hook the second-to-last survivor ever again.

Okay, we aren't trying to insult people, I was merely pointing out the simple fact of a group of killers saying the same thing we already know, and it gets annoying seeing it every other thread even if the original thread had nothing to do with the god forsaken perk.
Trust me, I know DH was busted, but because I was in mid-mmr before the mass perk rework I didn't see dead heart as often as you would see in high mmr, what's the developers have already confirmed only a small percentage of people are in the higher ranks, 75% in high mmr used the perk, around 45% in mid, and I believe 17% for lower.
So I saw my teammates running the perk in less than half my games. I did not rely on my teammates are in the park because they barely did, I have seen plenty of people make it just fine and chases. But to call people "buffoons" for running a perk, than damn, you need to cool it.
Not only that, I never played with a full group of survival friends, and I believe it's more common in full squads for the people to run the perk, not really solo-queue.
I wasn't trying to insult anybody either, just saying that a lot of the losses everyone is experience right now comes directly from the people boosted by DH falling to their actual mmr and unfortunately bringing others along with them. In a few weeks I predict that everyone who relied on DH for their wins will be already stabilized at their home mmr and the people who actually knows how to play will recover from the this loss streak and climb out of the ditch.
We just need to have some patience and let the pieces fall into their proper places now.

Probably because if he spends too much time on a chase then the other survivors will tunnel the gens and the game will be over too soon.

You're right there is nothing wrong with it ,but as a killer if someone is deciding to take this playstyle they have no room to complain about getting t bagged and flashlight clicked or anything else in the trial the survivors decide to do afterwards and if they lose there's no room to be salty when you adopted a strat like that and failed.
I don't understand this. It's like a killer saying they're facecamping, nodding and hitting on hook because they saw a survivor doing a gen. Like what the hell is that thinking of resenting people for doing their objectives? That's just choosing to be spiteful and bitter at someone for doing what they are supposed to do.

No, I am not. NOED was a fair concept that rewarded survivors who did their secondary objectives (cleansing totems) and punished those who cut corners and tunneled gens. It should never even be an issue to survivors who properly cleansed the totems, and also gave the game a natural disincentive to gen tunneling/rushing, encourage survivors to move around the map and thereby promoted chases, which most people on both sides tend to agree is the fun part of the gameplay.
It also gave the end game proper gravitas and tension, which as a survivor main was one of the best aspects of the match.

Blah blah blah, we get it, DH was nerfed, not every survivor used the damn perk, stop using that as your one excuse. Because believe it or not, not every survivor and their dog used DH. Time and time again a see specific killers (you know who you are) saying survivors are only mad about DH, but they don't even read the post, they see the title and go "Yep, keep crying cuz your precious DH is gone, gg ez bozo!"
There are valid complaints from the survivor side and it mainly has to do with solo-queue, not even the actual nerfs survivors got. So please, thake the time to read their posts instead of jumping to conclusions, because guess what.
Everyone knows Dead Hard was nerfed. But guess what? Quite a few people didn't use the god forsaken perk.
Everyone knows Dead Hard was nerfed. But guess what? Quite a few people didn't use the god forsaken perk.
Yeah, but those that didn't quite often relied on teammates using them. Dead Hard gave bad survivors the chance to ridiculously extend chases so that even those who didn't indirectly benefited from it since the time the killer was wasting chasing somebody who just gained 20 or 30 seconds on the back of a disgustingly broken perk was time they were free to do gens unmolested. To say nothing of the fact that DH was so widespread that killers defaulted on waiting DH even when the survivor in question wasn't running it.
Now all of that is gone and bad survivors have to actually get good or fall to their real mmr bracket, and the fact is, while that mmr adjustment is happening, the people who were good and actually never relied on DH themselves will still have to deal with games being lose because the "press E for a free escape" buffoons are getting killed at 4 gens left.
Just give time some time and the people who used DH will fall to the subterranean mmr that they belong, and the only people left will be the people who were genuinely good at the game.

Complaining about wanting to buy skins in the store yet the subscription is a tiny bit more expensive, doesn't make sense to me honestly
It's not free for people who do not use Prime, and indeed it's not even available to people who do not use Prime. What makes no sense is chalking off people criticizing the exclusivity deal with "ITS FREE SKINS" when it quite clearly is not, in fact, "FREE SKINS" at all.

Hello everyone,
there are so many discussion about the grind reduction going on at the moment, were people are showing off their math skills and how bad things will become under the new system or how players who only main one character get hit hard etc. But to me all this discussions seem to be missing the point of the new system.
All this calculations seem to tackle the problem binary, ie "you got not a single perk unlocked" vs "you got all perks unlocked" and "this used to cost this-and-this-much, now it costs you a whopping this-and-this-much!!11".
But you guys are totally ignoring the middle part, ie the "getting to the end" journey. Under the old system you always had to take the hard choice "do I prestige this character for the bloody cosmetics or do I keep all the 65 perks I got unlocked so far?" and most often it just wasn't worth it. Heck, a lot of characters languished at the P0-Lvl 40 mark just to unlock their teachables.
I remember how I read a guide back in the days, recommending to lvl Claudette up first, as her Self Heal was especially useful to soloQ players and those starting out, but once I got her to lvl 40 I was quite bummed that it only unlocked that perk on everyones bloodweb. I leveled Nancy to lvl 20 and never got it Self Heal and that felt quite unfun.
Now with the new system, yeah, you are still paying a lot of blood points for everything, but you got so much control over the way you want to develop your survivor game. Each time you prestige a character now, you get a meaningful improvement to your survivor/killer roster, with you getting an ever expanding baseline for everyone, letting you actively chose what to improve. The total might be higher, the total might be much less then the 75% grind reduction, how ever you cut it, but it is so much more fun and meaningful to progress any character now, and that is awesome.
Also, don't gloss over the fact that you don't lose anything on prestiging any character now. Before, prestiging was a painful process, only done for the bragging rights, now its just part of leveling up. Yeah, you restart at lvl 1 Bloodwebs, but thats the same with your account level and blood shards resetting, its not cool, but just part of the game. Still, if this system had been there from the start I would have had much more fun leveling up my characters and probably had a plan whom to prestige first etc.
So, don't just look at the complete set, also take the journey along the way into account, leveling up is now (will be soon) much more fun and meaningful then it ever was, and thats a big plus.
Caveat: its still sad that veterans only got the most lazy compensation and thumbs up for their work, but still, I welcome the change wholeheartedly.
Prestigeing was never really a problem because nobody really cared for it. People would rather wear other cosmetics than the base-but-bloody and since it had zero impact on gameplay, which is what really matters. Now you're actually forced to prestige so you're screwed up on farming purple+ addons and items because every time you get to level 50 you're forced back to level 1 and have to waddle through several levels again in order to have purple+ stuff offered to you. In the end the grind got far worse for no reason. Like why force people to do something they don't want to? If I want to keep my character level 50 indefinitely and not prestige I shouldn't be forced to do it at all.

BHVR: About to release the biggest change addressing the Meta, Grind, etc making the game better for years to come.
This guy: "Game feels abandoned, bHVR really need to improve the game"
Me: 👀 *trying very hard to not say anything that breaks forum terms of service.*
Okay.. Maybe you should break up your issues with the game so they could be explained better and explored more.
Making the game better? That's a hot take right there.

Cool story bro.
This but unironically.

If you lost to nurse, you got outplayed.
It means she had to calculate (and execute) the chase exactly to her specifications, taking into account your perks and hers, the position of line of sight blockers, the progress of generators and the general "feel" of the match (an ability that has to be honed through years, maybe decades of what you call merely "gaming").
Indeed, to be killed by Nurse is to realise that you have found your better, both as a player and as a man. Your mettle failed you, but the Nurse player is solid steel -hard, cold, reliable- and as she secures slugs and you anxiously await the bleedout timer, her mind is still operating at full capacity preparing strategies for a near infinite number of possibilities.
I'll be taking my BPs now, make sure you do your offerings correctly next time.

I normally don’t like to complain about stuff like this (mostly solo que) but I’m sorry. Out of the three survivors games I have played 2 of them where facecamping bubbas with dead lock and noed. The other was a pyramid head which was fun but that’s because I love playing against them. The only difference was one ran bamboozle and the other one didn’t.
I could have played better and should have anticipated the noed (which is another thing that perk and dead hard should have gotten nerfed harder). But the feng that got facecamped first did not deserve what happened to her. I felt bad. This bubba was also a twitch streamer don’t worry I wasn’t toxic towards him compared to his next opponents. All I asked was “why” and he says “because it’s fun and easy.” Great. Then has the audacity to say “ggs”. Him in chase is fine I don’t have a problem. But his camping is ridiculous. Why is this not fixed? Also @GoodBoyKaru did we not have a deal to trade my bubba matches for your blight matches? Lmao
Facecamping Bubbas haven't been fixed because you can't fix perfection.

BBQ How is removing blood points bonus from a perk a nerf... that has no effect on gameplay... I don't think you understand what the word Nerf means.
POP is about the same TBH. Maybe a little weaker as it gets it most value with gens at least over 25% but if you using pop before 25% then you weren't getting that much value form it.
As for NOED... 95% of matches it is used to secure one kill. This will change very little.

It was used because of the BP bonus, it's no longer going to be used now that the BP bonus has been removed. You can be pedantic all you want but it is a nerf in how useful it is and it is going to disappear from the game now that it is essentially useless.

It was a strict nerf. No two ways about it. Why are you doing double back flips and handstands trying to pretend it wasn't?

So you're saying is that an already very weak perk has become even weaker for no reason? That's exactly what I said so I'm unsure why you're arguing.

The idea is that PH's mechanics directly interfere with the entities rules for the trials. Denying the entity the hook states and kills so he can instead kill them his way. I think if thats true the moris as a whole are kind of against the "entities rules". If true another big offender is pinhead since he steals them away from the trial with his mori.
The difference is that the other killers have to literally bribe the NTT for the privilege of killing survivors on their own (in the form of the offerings), except for PH (and now Sadako). At this point you could argue that Spirit also does that with Rancour but that can be assumed to be just Rin's rage as an onriou being so intense she temporarily severs the NTTs leash over her (Anna does the same with Beast of Prey).
-
According to the devs, the NTT tortures the killers in order to force them to comply or as a punishment. A rule of thumb is that the more maimed and disfigured a killer is, the more the NTT had to make them suffer before they would start doing its bidding. Killers like the Legion, Clown or Huntress are still mostly the same because they went in the Realm willingly and enjoy killing people. While you'd expect Carter to go along with the NTT agenda willingly because of his sadistic nature, you could also argue that he'd be ultimatelly too prideful to submit to the NTT and would rather keep doing his research or something and so the NTT had to give him some encouragement.

I honestly don't understand how you can read these patch notes and think survivors came out ahead. I read them without bias to either side, as I play both, and my first thoughts were 'oh my god solo queue is going to be a disaster'.
I exclusively play solo and the only conclusion I've come upon reading the notes was that my games are going to get even easier now, to the point I might start to go perkless just to have a little bit of challenge. NOED being gutted like that gives us survivors even less of an incentive to do bones and just smash gens instead. Nobody is going to use BBQ now, so we don't have to even worry about leaving our gens and hiding in a locker to evade the aura reading. We have a second chance perk basekit now and DH has become even more reliable.

and surprise surprise every tryhard in the game shows up, every SWF shows up, and every single flashlight bully squad shows up
you switch back to a killer you are confident with and you get people that just started playing the game....
this isn't MMR this is damn cruse alright
back in ranks i played like let's say nurse which i never play, and i get players that are new or a bit good, and i have fun since we both have no idea what the hell is going on
you play nurse now and everyone will call you toxic and broken even tho you got a 1k.....
and there ain't NO NERFING NURSE, one damn killer in this whole game that is considered S+ because she ignores everything and everyone is trying to make her a C, how about we remove your SWF and see how would that would feel
I've come to realize that de-mmring in this game when you play as a killer is a chore you have to regularly perform, kind of like washing your kitchen sink. Wait too long before doing it and you start getting nothing but stink.
