For the survivor side I would make an actual anti-tunnel version of DS base kit as to punish Killers who tunnel. Next up I'd make Kindred base kit to put solo survivors more on par with SWF.
For the Killer side I'd make pop goes the weasel base kit to make it so Killers won't have to run at least two slow down perks to not get gens pumped out quick. After that I'd make shadow born an optional setting just in case some people enjoy the low FOV for whatever reason.
None of them. That'd make the game way too easy for Survivors while not really helping Killers at all. Stop trying to have easy games and just improve. No more free crap for baddies.

90% of red ranks / purple ranks Aren't the best...
That's where trickster dominates...
....That's it,
Well of course most players aren't the absolute best. If they were then they'd be average and whoever was better than them would be the best; that's how it works. What I'm saying is he's nowhere near as bad as everyone claims. Same as Myers, Nemesis, Trapper and all the other allegedly 'bad' killers. I have found in every instance that the problem is people sucking at the game and refusing to adapt to a new playstyle. Every case; and that's understandable, because not every Killer will click with every player.
-
I dunno. I have seen a few Trickster mains who seem to do fine or even consistently dominate at red ranks, which tells me the problem is most people suck with him but he's not generally bad.
Edit: Which is the conclusion I came to because I main 'weak' Killers and do fine with them. Some of y'all are just too lazy to try anything even remotely difficult.

Been taking 5-ish mins to get a game for me. Nothing too egregious; I just read articles or watch a video while I wait.

This guy gets it. This is the point of the game, not farming and getting free points.

It's weird how when you're Survivor, you seem to mostly get the salty and tunnel happy sweat lords trying to 4K as soon as possible cause this game is totally some esports potential.
Then you switch to Killer and instead of getting these teams that are casual or noobs... you get the SWF team bringing their key and not caring to do anything besides the gens.
I remember during the one year's event hooks and gens where I'd face IH Huntress or Bubbas literally sitting on the event gen or face SWF squads sabotaging my event hooks. Community certainly has not changed.
Everybody wants to win and play hard, but Survivors just won't admit it and can't stand to lose because they aren't used to it.

Nemesis is a bad killer, if you think otherwise you are a main survivor and / or you haven't played with Nemesis.
He needs buffs, and fixing a bug that is going to cause him to have fewer chances to hit survivors, they are nerfing him.
I'm not a survivor main and I am doing fine with nemesis. You all are bad.

Just wanted to give a shoutout to all the killers that camp & tunnel with 3 or more cakes.
- If the match doesn't go right for killers, at least they get compensation. Their BP gain & score are usually higher than that of survivors, even when they escape.
- Survivors who get camped and tunneled get a measly 3-8k Bloodpoints, essentially making the cake offerings wasted.
My first game of today was against a clown with exposed bottles that constantly slugged, shook his head, hit us on hook, tunneled, camped and more.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/QDVIWPM3R2LB/image.png
Didn't have space to include the part where they use their strongest addons. Almost forgot to mention the Mori.
"But shouldn't x play optimally"? - Shut yer trap. That doesn't excuse your scummy play style whilst there are 4-5 cakes offered. The unnecessary tunneling & camping on top of other things.
All the killers that I've encountered today were so lovely...Bless the wraith that was actually a nice guy...
Survivors have to deal with 5x more BS than killers in this Event. The reason you see more keys as killer is because of BHVR's poor condition to get crowns as survivor.
Blah blah blah play like crap so I can get BP.
No. Earn them. If you can't, back to the lobby you go. I came to play the game and kill you, not give you a funhouse ride. Screw up and you get a one-way trip back to brown town.

4man SWFs are what we need everyone to be on equal footing with so we can balance everything around that.

SWF does but not solos.
You have a UI that tells you every totem, every effect and the health states of every survivor as well as aura reading on other survivors map-wide.
You have enough information. Solo isn't disadvantaged; they're just bad.

I was 3 hooked before anyone else took a hit. Then rinse and repeat. The killer in this game actually just ran in circles around the building with the basement hooks. Waited for an unhook then just ran at the stairs to down me again.
I get it’s in the game but holy hell it’s not fun having this sort of thing happen. Give a better average of ranking or somethinG so I have a chance.
You still failed, regardless of ranks and so on. You were not good enough, and neither were your teammates. They failed to save you and failed to do gens while you were camped. This is on you and them, still; get better.

My proposed solution to that is introducing Keys as a basekit mechanic*. Exit Gates becoming the epitome of a "Crushing" Victory (same with a 4K).
I think escaping at all should be difficult, and staying in the game longer should be rewarded with tons more BP. Make escaping hard and celebration-worthy. It's Dead by Daylight, after all.
Basically:
Survivor win condition: Escape
Killer win condition: Kill all Survivors
Then you rework some mechanics so survivors have more time to conduct chases with Killers while Killers have more time to chase because objective times are slowed down. That however requires gens to be more fun or survivors to suck it up and accept longer gen times.

I play solo q, man :C. And on Solo Q, survivors can´t just handle hard tunneling. As a survivor, I am going to unhook a camped guy even if huntress is facecamping him (it has happened me some times).
What I mean is that metagame should turn into a more effective way to play than tunneling and gen rush. One metagame based on explore the map for survivors and take different hooks for killers. Killers tunnel not because they want to punish one specific player, it´s because is an optimal play and they take great advantage. Same happens with gen rush.
Game design should encourage other strategies than these ones. That´s my oppinion.
Now this I agree with. The game design could be changed to be more fun and interactive for both sides, so that the optimal way to play is also the fun way for both sides. But until BHVR does that I'm going to do what gets me the W. What I won't do is play by made-up rules of fairness when the game does not require me to.
By the way, many of us have begged for a new game mode or changes to the core gameplay for five years. BHVR has refused. Talk to them, not us.

@[Deleted User] said:
My perceived solution to this is to give Killers enough time to actually go for each Survivor after a Hook rather than Camp/Tunnel. But this causes Killers to be overpowered baseline if they decide to camp/tunnel in the first place, so how do you incentivize Killers from not camping/tunneling at the start?
My proposal would be for Killers to gain "points" towards a Mori basekit for unique Survivors Hooked, as an incentive. And the "punishment" would be introducing an "echo" state for Sacrificed Survivors who then focus on opening Hatch/amplifying remaining Survivors abilities which nearly guarantees a Hatch escape for the last Survivor(s) given enough time, incentivizing spreading out Hooks.
(This might also retain solo Survivors in a match and slightly help lower queue times from solos cycling faster)
The specifics still elude me.
Survivors would hate this because it'd reward killers who did exactly that and they'd quickly discover that they are in fact not very good and Killers haven't been tunneling and camping as hard as they'd believed. Same reason they don't run DS anymore; now that it actually functions more like an anti-tunnel perk instead of a minute of invincibility they want nothing to do with it. Same thing happens any time Survivors get what they want and realize that it was their lack of skill that was screwing them all along.
Proof: Vacuum pallets, dedicated servers. Survivors cried for dedicated servers for years swearing it would fix 'unfair hits' due to the Killer being game host. It didn't; it just showed how unskilled the majority of them truly are because they still get tagged going through windows when they (frequently) overestimate their skill or get groody at a pallet or loop. Same with vacuum pallets; when they couldn't teleport to the other side of pallets suddenly they started hitting the dirt a lot more often.

@Artemisha said:

That´s exactly why devs should fix the tunnel and camp strategy, and make other strategies more effective than these ones.
A small portion of killers don´t abuse of it as it´s the optimal play just because they care about others experience.
The real problem is that this mechanic is completely legal, easy to apply and grants big advantage. Survivors shouldn´t be claiming "fair play" to the killers, but to the devs. Developers should turn the metagame into a more fun mechanic for everyone.
Fix it how? Any proposed fix would punish Killers for playing well. Just get better. Plenty of Survivors manage to consistently do well and even escape; you can, too. Probably.

So i've been new to the game for about a month. Been having fun with Dwight and playing survivor with friends. The problem is, I keep running into really high ranked killers who either tunnel me down so i legit do not gain any points or "pip" and now that I am rank 16, I am losing any pip progress because of the aforementioned issues. Also, a lot of slugging. One match the killer actually left all of us on the ground and just revved his chainsaw while we bled out.
Yall killers really enjoy this?
What you described here is you not being good enough. You aren't pipping because you lack the skill to outplay your opponent. That's all.

As a survivor main, camping and tunneling feels unfun & therefore monotonous, to say the least. If anybody pledges to this gameplay style please explain why, as I may be missing the point.
Because it works. Your fun is irrelevant to me; my fun comes from chasing and killing you efficiently. That's it; nothing personal and it isn't some moral stance. It's just how the game works.

When tunneling works, I tunnel.
Make it not work and you might have a chance of winning.

When playing survivor I usually always bring a flashlight.
Reason being is matchmaking is so volatile in the evenings/night, that I get paired up with rainbow ranks (hell some brown ranks play better than reds...).
I don't know how good my fellow Dwight is running his base skin (bless him he looks so cute)
Point being I run the flashlight to waste/distract as much time from the killer as possible, because my team mates are usually potatoes.
If I have the killer fixated on me they have all the time in the world to focus on their objective. I will try run/blind the killer for as long as possible.
I even managed to flashlight save a Steve on his death hook twice on one of my previous games.
But I would like to know from killers mains is what I'm doing toxic to you?
I like to play both roles and if I know a survivor is decent at looping and has a flashlight I would not focus on him all match, but instead target the weaker survivors, and wait till he has to to save ie out positioned.
However especially to new killers this playstyle may appear super toxic, if I see your a new killer in the end game I will usually always apologize and explain why I have to do this.
If you are a newer killer don't focus on the survivor trying to get your attention, they are most likely the most decent at running you around and blinding you.
Also if you suspect a flashlight in the area don't pick up.
Yes I know I'm echoing advice but still a lot of killers pick up as soon as they down someone... I know I'm there watching you 0_0
Sometimes I would love to run SWF because I would not have to resort to this, since I would know how good my friends are etc. But they got scared off DBD in the first few hours hence I am alone :(
If there any solo survivor brothers here, do you being flashlight? If not what do you bring and why not? How do you handle potatoes?
It puts the flashlight down or it gets put on the ground.
Click all you like; I'll get you.
-
And...the worst part about keys? I only ever play against them if i happen to not pay attention in a lobby and forget to dodge, or get last-second switched or have a chest spawn one. In every case I just stop playing the game, because it's automatically tainted soon as a key is involved.
-
@Shdw_Void said:
I have morals. I try my best to 12 hook and not camp where possible. I like being fair and not running someone out of the game early. The moment I see a key gamer in my lobby is when I put my morals in a chest and say, "I'll be back for you later" as I load into the match.
Now I'm not saying I'm gonna tunnel vision and camp them to death. That's just not optimal play. What I am saying is I will not go out of my way to avoid doing those things. If you are in my way then so be it. If you bring the key your kindness privileges have been revoked
How you play a game isn't a moral issue. Anyone who thinks it is needs to seek help.

Yeah, I'm sick of loop-ignoring killers. Looping is the literal only mechanic survivors have, it's the focus of survivor gameplay. If killers are introduced that ignore loops or basically guarantee that you will die if you try to loop, then the game is unfun and survivor is just waiting around to die, hoping that your team is sitting on gens, which is the most boring gameplay possible.
My favorite killer to play is Legion and I think it's because Legion is a perfect example of what I would like more killers to be like. You spread map pressure and add difficulty to the survivors by damaging them all over, but to actually truly down them, you still have to win a chase properly. This means that survivor skill still matters, my skill as killer matters, and so my games feel so much more interactive. Every down I get feels like I did something clever or read someone in a fun way.
So I suppose I'd like more killers like that. They don't all have to have non-lethal powers or super nerfed junk like Legion has (I fully admit to masochism.) but making killers where both sides can properly express their skill is way more healthy for the game. I think more killers should have powers based on map control rather than chase. And if they are going to be chase killers, they should have clear, understandable counterplay. Billy is a good example of this. A good Billy can trash teams but you can still learn to play against him and there are clear weaknesses. He's one of my favorite killers to go against because of this.
Looping. is. Boring.
-
Any Killer they made would be hated by Survivors if they're decent or never used after release if they're not. Either way, more killers is pointless. They can't even balance the ones we have and survivors don't want challenging opponents; they want harmless punching bags who are scary but can't actually win. Theyw ant to feel challenged without any actual chance of defeat.

This is certainly not the case for most people I assume. I have seen 1 key on my team in the past few weeks if I remember and I believe 1 was found in a match that we were able to use. Other than that keys feel like a rare use occasion for me. I'm probably going to go ahead and use up the keys I have while they're still worth using because I feel like with all the complaining about keys I see lately (which again I believe is not very substantive and just some killers getting super offended that a key was used against them) that the keys are going to get nerfed into dust and not even worth collecting from the blood web anymore. Hey lets not stop here. Lets remove all survivor perks and remove our ability to run too. Also lets just remove the escape capability for survivors and let the killers get 4k every game. you know how many times that happens? and they can FORCE you off of gens without you being able to do ANYTHING about it so if the killer is running lets say a pretty popular killer perk hex ruin you have to play loopty loop with the zombie while your gen regresses with out you being able to do anything if you dont want to throw down a random pallet just to have it respawn within 45 seconds to do it all over again.
Wrong. Flashlight or flashbang them and they'll stand there for a good thirty seconds being useless.
Counterplay exists; use it.
Ruin is in the game? Do totems. You have three totem perks. You can give up your Dead Hard, Decisive Strike or Borrowed Time for one if Killers can make hard perk choices; especially since there are four survivors with a total of 16 perks for the Killer to try to counter.

The new killer the nemesis in my opinion needs his zombies nerfed because when i play against them they just seem to appear out of no where and there is no reliable way to get rid of them which makes them a moving r n g trappers trap and even if you pallet stun them they respawn at the nearest hook in what feels like 5 seconds and not to mention what they do in the chase (if r n g lets them of course) to just shut down any loop instantly just by being there.so this is why i think they should be nerfed.
They can't down you unless you are:
- Not paying attention to your surroundings
- Already infected
- Already injured
If a zombie downs you, you deserve it. Always.

Keys at least counterbalance by demanding that either all gens are done, or the killer already got a kill or two. Moris didn't have that.
Um...yes they did. You had to chase, down and hook someone then down them again after they've been unhooked. That's a lot of time. And even so you only get 1 kill out of it after a long animation. keys let all 4 Survivors escape, period. And if someone dies before hatch spawns then they get it even faster, basically rewarding them for the Killer's success.
The two are not equal; Keys are insanely OP.

It's very interesting to see how close survivors spawn next to you sometimes.Like yeah,i know they can spawn on my side on maps like Azarovs Resting Place or Suffocation Pit.
But even on other maps i had survivors spawn very close to me
Here's an example:
That isn't even that close, so much as the Survivor walked right into you. And anyway, if they all spawn on the other end of the map that'd be even worse for them. This is an unsolvable problem. Survivors need to learn not to immediately hold Shift + W as soon as a trial starts and maybe look around and assess first. Period.
-
@Laluzi said:
I agree that moris in their current state are pretty worthless and not worth their price tag, but old moris were broken as hell. They let you remove a survivor from the game by catching them once and camping their hook. As soon as anyone unhooked them, you knocked them straight back down, bypassed DS/flashlights/any team attempt to save them besides Borrowed Time (which you could just wait out, or catch up to them and hit them again), and killed them. You now have a 3-man game at 4-5 gens.
Let's not pretend this wasn't how basically every game with an ebony mori went. It was extremely unfair and the game was not balanced around each survivor having just 2 hook states instead of 3. It'd be like if the survivors could bring an offering that lowered the number of gens that needed to be completed in a match. (So basically old BNP... or keys, but honestly, old moris were worse than keys for truncating a game. Point is, though, all of this stuff is/was broken and needs to go.)
Keys exist.
Your argument is invalid.

Badly? Keeping killer in chase is bad?
If you want to pip, yes.

No i love chasing lmao. That is reason i am t-bagging or clicking killers.
But also i wanna get pip. But rank system is ridicilous on this game.
So you want to play badly and still be rewarded.

Today i played 4 survivor games, 3 of them were againts tunneller/camper killers.
Wraith chased me because i burned him with flashlight. He chased me for 4 gens and then he camped me. I escaped because my teammates were smart. They saved me and took hits for me. But i also had DS, so this game was lose 100% for Wraith.
And i get Oni, who did chase me for 5 gens. I can not say he was tunneller because he never hooked me. But why man? If you can not catch me, just leave for other survivors. Noone won pip because killer did not get any hook.
And last game was worst. Killer was afk and i wanted check basement. And ofcourse it was Bubba. And i saw him, he wanted catch me. He did and he camped me. My teammates did not try save me. And i lost pip.
4 games and i lost 1 pip. And i did not played bad. This game is ridicilous sometimes.
Do you just not want to be chased? Like survivors complain and say chasing is the only fun they have, but then they genrush like winning the game is the most important thing and complain when Killers do what they have to do to counter it while shutting down any ideas like 'maybe make gens take longer'.
What do you actually want? Because it sounds like you want really stupid AI instead of human Killers with brains.

So since DBD fixes everything besides their bugs that kick people out out and make them lose points I’m now a rank 9, I was a 4. I’m getting killers who either camp or tunnel. Is this the new strategy for people who suck? You get no points for camping and tunneling so why do it, it’s not fun for either.
You get plenty of points because survivors rush the hook and do anything and everything to save and while you're camping and they're trying to save you have 1 survivor dying and multiple others not doing gens. All the Killer's objectives have come to them. Win-Win.
