You were almost on a good path, then you devolved into petty negativity. They have a product and you can choose to use it as is, or not. That is the counter to you being a customer. Do not digress, but assist progress. I am not saying to not be critical, but how you approach things is as important as what you are trying to have fixed. Its a level of maturity that you need to have when speaking to adults.

We tried being reasonable. You're new; you don't know how hard a lot of OG players tried. Positivity didn't work. But what we did see was whining working very well (for one side). BHVR made this situation. They can deal with it and I won't be told their customers are unreasonable for expecting better.

I am totally empathetic to that. My appeal was to not be overly negative. They obviously care about the game and interact with the community. Just because they haven't fulfilled what you (or anyone reporting or posting) may consider most important doesnt mean that saying statements like "devs dont care" is warranted. They are not trying to kill the game.

I was not defending things that are broken not being fixed, saying they should ignore them. I was simply trying to reduce toxic or negative posts and encourage that they do engage with the community and they are trying to fix things as evidenced through recent balancing, changes to characters (specifically killers) and their addons, perks, map updates, etc.

Remember they are a smaller company and a smaller dev team. This is not Activision with an army of devs that still regularly ignores players in light of their own plans. This is a smaller community relative to big games and voicing our frustrations constructively will net better results, I believe. Upsetting the playerbase or adding fuel to someone's fire does not help fix anything, and drives a wedge between devs and community.

This is a common problem in EVERY multiplayer online game. They layed out their roadmap and goals in the stream. If people want them to prioritize something else and they get an influx of those requests, do you think they will ignore it? I manage a development team and I can tell you they wont. even if it feels like that or they are slower.

Bottom line, stay true and be constructive... if it is too frustrating, then play other games while you wait to fix or incorporate other hobbies, but stay in the community because it needs strong positive ambassadors, not whiney streamers and brooding forum posts.

BHVR needs and deserves some negativity for their consistent thick-headed refusal to listen to their community time and time again. I have actually lost count of the number of times people have waited months or years for a change, even a simple one and had them ignore it, put it on the backburner or outright mock people affected by it. So screw their feelings; I'm a customer and I will be served.

Nurse - I'm good but not god tier. So it's fun still because I'm not always 100 % my blinks are going to land. But the odds are they will.

Blight - Everything is fun about the bouncey boy.

Freddy - People can say he's boring all they want. But freddy is so enjoyable. I love outplaying people with my telelport if I can. There's endless times where I close the gap faster by teleporting to a gen they're heading to. Endless times I've chased them away from a strong tile by cutting them off. And my FAVORITE of all time still is there was a gen right near the killer shack. I let them lose sight of me. Telelported right behind them and caught them looking in the direction they knew I WAS at a few seconds earlier. Well placed snares are satisfying as well

Funny enough, I can't bring myself to like Blight no matter how fun he is. His whole aesthetic bores me and his bouncing just looks and sounds stupid. I have actually been playing Nurse; she's a lot of fun mechanically, but winning with her is impossible for a long, long time. Learning her is utter misery. I hate losing and I hate it even more when it's embarrassing defeat after embarrassing defeat just to get sort of good. As for Freddy, he becomes a non-threat once gens get done and his slowdown is nerfed into the ground so he's just another M1 Killer now.

I just want a fun, effective Killer that doesn't make me feel like I just fought World War Two by myself every time I finish a match. Why is it that most of the Killer roster has so many of the same easily-exploitable weaknesses and the same boring counterplay? Why can't Killers get something cool and not have it ruined? I shouldn't have this much difficulty finding more than one or two Killers that are just fun.

  • I just haven't been enjoying DbD anymore (as a Killer). Even when I manage to get that 4K and win it just feels like so much damn work that I realize I didn't enjoy it. I'm hoping Nemesis will change that; I enjoyed him so much I played nearly forty games as him on the PTB. That little bit of passive pressure from zombies plus his chase-heavy skill-based playstyle makes him super fun. Five more days. I can't wait to get him on live; I got shards and BP saved up. I plan to enjoy him until he inevitably gets ruined.

  • Today it's Spirit, tomorrow it can and will be a Killer you actually like and the nerf will be horrendous and make that Killer utterly unfun. Like Legion.

Killers don't get to have nice things in Dead by Daylight. Internalize this fact. This is why I have spirit at level 40-ish unprestiged: No point in playing her or getting good because she'll just be nerfed for being an effective and fun Killer.

  • I think you all aren't getting camped and in reality you're just losing and blaming camping. Same as always.

Old Legion was ######### stupid though. One of the unhealthiest powers in the game that pretty much guaranteed that you'd go down.

And the new one is utter garbage. Literally a waste of space on the roster along with Trickster, Clown and a whole heap of other F-Tier Killers.

  • Yep. Legion was a threat but everyone cried so hard BHVR nerfed them into oblivion and there they stayed. Any Killer who is a serious threat eventually gets that treatment.

  • I voted to remove and replace. I feel like environmental control as an offering is a viable mechanic, but make it a generic offering that modifies some interesting environmental aspect of a given map. That could be fog, number of crows, number of open or closed doors, walls and windows. Additionally, make it so both sides can see what offerings the other side has selected. Something like this would be a great way to fix Haddonfield - let it remain survivor-sided but give the Killer a chance to gamble offerings to make it less horrible. This could become a mini-game unto itself between Killer and Survivors before the match even begins.

If you make it a DC penalty why would they not choose to just DC normally, where the killer gets some pity points but thats it. Why would they choose to not spite the killer by forcing them the less rewarding option?

What I proposed would be less punishing, but not an instant death. Which would give you time to pick up a survivor if you want, or to slug for the 4k, but at the same time would work to discourage mass slugging or slugging survivors to death.

I think we need balance, slugging is a valid tactic that is frequently essential in high level play, but at the same time slugging en masse and leaving all the survivors to bleed out is unneeded BM. So, I think we need to still allow the good slugging while finding ways to deincentivize the bad.

I actually question how common this 'mass bleedout' actually is. Like...why would a Killer do this? If 4 are downed, hook them. In fact I only ever have anyone bleed out when Survivors crawl somewhere to hide and deny the 4k. tl;dr version - I don't even believe this is a problem.

  • No, i'm suggesting that the solution to this would be to make him unable to one-hit down anymore, which would remove all his threat.

  • @Harold_Shipman said:

The only change bubba needs is some way to make him less efficient at hook camping tbh

Which would require removing all his threat entirely.

  • @PanicSquid said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2238079#Comment_2238079

I disagree with the DC penalty, at that point they could have just DCed and it would be the same result for them, but less beneficial for the killer.

I'd have the concede button speed up the rate at which the survivor bleeds out, where the bleed out rate accelerates until they die. That way a killer could still slug in game, slug for a 4k if they find the 4th person quickly, but reduce the boring-ness of a 3/4-man slugfest.

Why do they get the softball version of Concede? Killers have to open the gates and let Survivors leave to concede and take the loss while the Survivors get full points.

if you are patrolling and taking chases that's not camping, you can proxy camp I guess but if survivors are doing it right that's even easier to counter the normal tent and smores camping. Don't muddle the definition and move the goal post.

Err wrong. Do you have camera spying on me? You know how I play every game? Err wrong. I have played a lot of challenging games that do not require tunnelers or babysitters. I just "CHOOSE" to indulge those people. If you wish to feed them be my guest.

Okay, both of you are sitting here denying reality and being stuck in your own little thought bubbles, so I'm out. Good luck; you won't solve the problems you apparently hate by refusing to listen, though.

  • @Mandy said:

I think most players agree that being slugged for the entirety of their bleedout bar is not fun, and whilst I don't think the bleedout timer should be shortened, a concede option would be my solution. One that can only be activated under certain circumstances etc, so if 4 survivors are being slugged for example, the survivors could simply concede the game.

Give them a concede button that works any time! But when they use it, they get a 30 minute DC penalty, lose a pip and the Killer gets the sacrifice plus points in the other categories to reflect what they would have gotten from chasing that Survivor.

  • @gilgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2238051#Comment_2238051

I guarantee you it wouldn't stop almost any hard campers and only punish people for either A. just chasing a survivor around a hook, that's your teammates fault not the killers, or B. During endgame when if you only have 1 person on hook and at least 2 others alive and well that basically your best option and it would be stupid to punish someone for. And killers who want to camp are gonna camp they already don't care that they aren't pipping why do you think a bloodpoint hit bigger then what they're already eating is gonna change anything. If you camp every survivor you down you are already losing a massive amount of BP and even if you 4k you are likely not even getting 20k points. I don't even know why we still see people complain about a problem so easily counter-able its a damn TOOLTIP in the mobile version like c'mon dude.

One thing - camping does not always mean you depipped. That is a myth Survivors perpetuate to make themselves feel better. You can camp while not sitting on top of the hook and still patrol gens and win chases while you guard that hook. It just takes effort, luck and the right Killer and Perks.

Is that fact or opinion? Basically telling me I have no choice? Then you condone that behavior? See there I don't agree. I don't have to play the killers style. I can choose, it is called free will. Some rules need to change while others are fine.

Neither - it's the truth. I condone playing the game as best you can until it's over. Your moral outrage doesn't change the fact that you are basically only playing the game when it's easy and requires no thought or effort.

  • @quazzi76 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2237960#Comment_2237960

Put a bigger hit on bp points that make the killer stop babysitting or tunneling. Awhile ago killers lost blood points big time for that. It did stop a lot of it. I learned to read the screen at the end of the game to see where I screwed up and where I needed to improve to get better points.

And Survivors abused it. They still do abuse the Hook Proximity penalty when they can. No, survivors don't get a way to force killers to leave and allow them to get undeserved unhooks.

I don't disconnect. I let the killer win. If the killer has to win so bad they down you and chase the unhooked. Even if you get unhooked and they still come after you. Fine. I don't need to win that "BAD". I can play again. Even as killer I don't have to win that bad. Let the killer hook you and move on. I see no reason to disconnect because killer gets quieter points and you get timed out. Just go to next game hopefully a better killer.

'Quit' does not mean 'disconnect'. You are still basically not trying. If you don't want to put forth effort to win, then stop playing entirely because you are dead weight to both your team and the killer and shouldn't be playing. All or not at all.

  • @MeltingPenguins said:

Now, I don't wanna hear any of that 'slugging is a legit tactic and sometimes necessary' stuff. This is about people who go and slug right from the start, leaving people to bleed out. maybe with the exception of the obsession for the extra points. and of course they'll go and knock down anyone with UB immediately.

Cause by all means that is holding the game hostage, which is banable iirc.

It is not holding the game hostage. Everything you dislike isn't bannable, dude. Get better.

I use Sole Survivor a lot.

No. I do NOT want team mates to die.

So why do I use it? Amongst other reasons, the biggest reason is I hate, hate, HATE Myers, Wraith, and Pig’s wall hack add ons. I know they’re rare. I experience them in matches only occasionally. But when I am in a match without using some sort of aura blocking, these add ons drive me CRAZY 🥴

Sole Survivor isn’t a magic ticket in these instances, but 1 token at least reduces the severity of my chances being next to die once the team has been reduced from 4 to 3 survivors.

I almost never take off Visionary anymore. I hate wondering where the last 3 gens are, especially on indoor maps. But a better reason I use it for is to know where I shouldn’t lead chases, in case there are teammates trying to repair it.

Bodyblocking and Survivors wiggling out. I hate it so much I run Agitation/Iron Grasp/Mad Grit/Starstruck - all of them - on most every Killer I play. I have not regretted it ever.

What do you mean my dear dude. I already said he is so strong.

And I agree. I was saying blight is actually very damn strong in the hands of even a moderately-skilled player and will be even moreso as people master him. This will lead to him becoming 'unfun' and you know where that always ends up.

  • @Northener1907 said:

Yes even Nurse and Spirit. And even Freddy before nerf. He was not popular killer because of pov and bugs. But now he is good, most of him problems gone. And people started playing him and learning. He is so good at chases, he is rejecting pallets, windows are not safe so many times. He has great map mobility. For now, people are new as him. But i can see hate and nerf post about him in future.

I never thought he is strong like that before i tried him. Yes he is S-Tier and i am sure he is stronger than Spirit. When you win mindgame against Spirit, she turning m1 killer and she has not bad cooldown. But Blight? He is god. I hope that boi never gets nerf.

I like her aesthetic and general theme.

I like her playstyle, the idea of "I can't see you but you can't see me." Is really fun.

I like her low skill for decent games. DBD has a problem where you have to get better to do well in the rank you're in, otherwise you will constantly get people who will destroy you. Compared to other games where you're expected to 50-50 win losses and only improve rank if you start say getting 60% wins.

    She makes me feel scary.

It pisses people off and this community is pretty toxic so it's sometimes fun to see angry losers more than bad winners.

Of course that's not too say I 4k with her all the time, I still have very fundamental flaws with my killer game that good survivors can identify and lean into it. It's not some magic wand that makes me a god. It does turn a 0k into a 2k though, which is nice. (Compared to my other main, pig.)

This, particularly the 'she makes me feel scary' part. No other Killer makes Survivors feel threatened like she does. Even a Nurse can be dangerous, but Nurses are either godlike or easily-bullied; no in-between. Spirit makes survivors go pale, lose hope, get angry. She invokes feelings. She invokes fear.

That is what DbD is missing: fear of the Killers. We lost it when we made the game easier and easier and more of a party game for Survivors. We turned the Killers into playthings and punching bags easily defeated by running in circles and pressing space occasionally. I wish BHVR would bring back the fear, but now that goofy cosmetics like christmas elves and ######### exist it can never be done.

In 3,319 hours played I have had ZERO Killers come to my profile to talk #########. Not counting DM's, because console has no other way to communicate, unlike PC. DM's is the equivalent of endgame chat trash talking; I don't care about that. I don't even actually care about the insult inherent in a hackusation. What I care about is the entitlement Survivors (and it is mainly Survivors) have. They simply cannot accept defeat and cannot grasp the idea that they may not be very good.

  • Insidious - I like ambushes. I'm not chasing you.

??? I don't follow. They literally spawn in random areas of the map at the start of the game and wander around. What good is foresight gonna be when I'm chasing a survivor and there's a zombie on the polar opposite side of Red Forest stuck on a hill lmao.

Zombies move toward noise. Chase survivors toward them and you shut off loops; that easy. If you see a zombie somewhere you don't want them, whip and they respawn elsewhere. That is control.

So you want DbD to be a boring old hide-and-seek simulation with no replayablility and no dynamic chases? Because that's what I remember about when I first started.

You're being disingenuous. That's not what was being said at all; we're saying the Survivors should never feel safe near a Killer and wasting time taunting and making silly plays should be punishing. They need to fear the Killer, want to avoid them and be rewarded for doing so.

  • Dead Hard isn't a problem. Never has been; I'd rather see it than Lithe or Spring Burst.

  • @ad19970 said:

In chase I would argue Nemesis is better. His whip goes over pallets, windows and small objects, it's extremely strong, but it does have a limited range which certainly balances it out. I know some people want the range to be increased, but I'm not so sure about that, and if they do, then hopefully not more than one additional meter.

His ability to break pallets is also great, though you have to get to tier 2, and demo's pallet breaking animation is actually faster, but Nemesis of course has the great advantage of being able to move. This also allows him to counter flashlights at pallets. Both are quite strong in chases but Nemesis is arguably a bit better. He does slow down immediately when you start using his power, so he gets less free zoning, which is a good thing. Releasing his power without using it also results in a long enough cooldown to allow fair counterplay, which is great in my opinion, I am happy they didn't make the same mistake as they did with og Pyramid Head.

When it comes to map pressure, Demo is better, but not by too much in my opinion. Nemesis has his zombies, and while you can't control them, and they are rng dependent, they definitely help with map pressure. I wouldn't mind if BHVR changed the zombies so they'd focus a bit more on gens and be less at pallet loops, but generally I think they already serve their puprose quite nicely.

So in general Nemesis seems a tad stronger that Demogorgon to me, but he seems like in a fine spot balance wise already. Definitely not even close to being op but potentially viable. Although particularly big maps do seem to hurt him more than many other killers.

Stop using RNG incorrectly. They are NOT random. Their behavior is very predictable and you can control and use them in this way, it just takes foresight and thinking more than a few seconds ahead.

  • @Dabihwow said:

I would have liked to put another killer alongside Nemesis, you know have a character for the modern fans as well. Jack Baker would've been my choice for the killer, not only so we could get something for modern fans, but make the chapter have something for every group of people. But so far, it seems they are only gonna care about the old games

I think the real problem is that the new RE monsters are boring and no different than Killers already in DbD.

  • I hate that it's like that, by the way :( I play this game to play hard and get kills generally, but sometimes even I just wanna chill and play a fun game with an experimental build. But you do it once and then it becomes the expectation.

I think with this, it really only matters how much effort you want to put in in the end. What I mean by this is I typically will literally stop attacking/killing if I so obviously decimated the other team that there's no possibility they could have turned it around otherwise, and I decide I'd rather goof of with them instead. I don't do it simply because I fear I'm "being OP" or whatever the hell these people say to justify intentionally playing worse and "playing nice". It's just a whim thing.. I think that needs to be explained sometimes if it's not obvious, otherwise as you say, it becomes an expectation that killers should only go so hard at any given time then relax and stop all that "tunneling" and stuff.

Problem is that when you dot his at all, Survivors still come to expect it. Doesn't matter why you're doing it, you still hurt everyone else. Just kill them, end the game and be done with it.

The other day I was facing a Trickster at Haddonhell (solo queue) and he kept slugging the second last survivor. I kept picking her up (safely), and he'd keep finding her and downing her again. Just REFUSED to hook her. God knows how long that went on for, but she eventually bled out and I got the hatch anyways (sheer luck that I found a purple key way earlier in a chest). But it was just miserable lmao. At one point I was seriously considering just walking over to this sweat-lord and begging him to kill me so it would end.

But I'm a spiteful SOB so....

What is with that anyways? Dude already got a crap-ton of BPs, so what's the point?

So he's a sweatlord for doing his best.

This is the problem with DbD and with games in general: we hate people who play to win and expect to be handed victory.

The problem with this is that you're not 'teaching a lesson' to the people who treated you badly. Toxic Survivors/Killers are the minority, all you'd be doing is harming the community by angering or driving away innocent players. The game before might have been tea-bagging, rude Neas but the game after you could have someone like me who has never tea-bagged even once, who doesn't bring keys, and who only brings flashlights if the Rift demands it. What did I do to deserve a face camping basement Bubba?

Then multiply that by four and you see the issue. With the RE chapter coming there's going to be a lot of new players. Lashing out at every player you encounter because of bad matches is a sure way to drive them off.

And you are missing the point. Everyone should be able to play hard every game and have it be equally challenging or not without feeling bad about doing their best. We shouldn't have to 'play nice'. Wasting time teabagging should be punishable by losing the game because you wasted time.

So I recently had a game that didn't go so well because I was trying to have a sweatless game with Trickster running haunted ground/undying. But because RNGesus hates my guts I got 4 Neas with flashlights who T-bagged throughout the entire game.

To most people, the usual refrain is to be the "better man" and just play normal, regardless of how much you want to bring in the stridor/NOED Spirit. But what does that achieve? They're still going to be toxic, and they're still going to be making profoundly un-fun games for other killers. The goal of this is to not perpetuate the problem, but is standing by and doing nothing going to stop the perpetuation of these problems?

Now, if you go ahead and pick up the tunneling stridor/NOED Spirit, sure, you become part of the problem, but counterintuitively, you may be helping to solve the problem. In the short run, people are going to get tilted and the toxicity is going to rise, but people can only be angry for so long before they tire out and seek a resolution. People will get sick and tired of sweating 24/7 and try to reach a mutual agreement. Even better, the rise in less-than-fun gameplay catches the eyes of the devs and they take action to stop the behavior.

And that's my defense of playing facecamping Bubba every Friday, thanks for listening. It's not fun for me or the survivors but damn, it's cathartic.

I've been saying this for years. Every time you go easy on survivors, you make them get used to Killers who will give hatch, not chase an injured fresh unhook even when the unhooker ran far away, etc. You make it worse for everyone, Killers and Survivors. Stop being a carebear. Play to win and make them play to win or lose. If that isn't fun let BHVR worry about that. it isn't our job to make the game fun; it's the devs.

I am very sure that 99,99% of the people who complain about the "highest Level of difficulty" never have experienced it in the first place. If we are talking about that, those are tournament-SWFs, very, very strong Survivors. There are around a dozen of them worldwide. Chances of running into them are very low, doing it more than once is even more than unlikely.

Most of the time when Killers lose, they either lose against Solos where they think they are SWFs, or they lose against casual SWFs.. Which are the majority.

Like, just yesterday I got blamed for being in a "premade" by a Huntress. This Huntress was using a Meme-Build (Agitation, Iron Grasp, Mad Grit, Starstruck + red Add On which increases Movement Speed when out of Hatchets) and was complaining that she lost. But, she lost to a premade - why did she think that? Because I unhooked another Survivor with BT in Endgame when she was looking away while camping... Only a SWF can do that, because when I play Solo, I dont have a brain.

When it comes to Killer - yes, it is easy. The easiest it has ever been. It is still harder than Survivor and it should be harder than Survivor (it would not make sense if the 1 in the 1v4 has it easier), but it is not challenging at all. Obviously nobody gets a 4K every game, but this is also alright.

That's not a meme build, it's one i run on every Killer and constantly 4k even against SWF SWAT teams.

I'm leaving this god awful game because, after 3 years of playing, killer is still not a power role and solo queue is like working with jellyfish in human bodies.

As an avid horror fan, I've poured hundreds of dollars, and thousands of hours into this game, and yet it has gotten so bad at rank one that I can't do anything but quit. I can't even stand to play during this anniversary.

How does toxicity fester here so abundantly? By the end of each session of playing killer at rank one, I just want to tear myself to shreds. It's hell. From the constant BMing, to rubbing it in my face that I need to "get good" at trickster, of all killers, I can't stand it. It was cool with all the friends I made but I cannot live with this game in my life, it hogs my mind and fills me with such stress whenever I play it.

Devs, please figure it out. Try and make this game fun for the new influx of players you expect so soon.

If you want to do that, listen to Otz or someone of knowledge and playtime. And play your own killers before you even think of PTBing them, actually play them.

3 years and this game has only really improved cosmetically. Good job to that team, though.

Seeya later man. I know how you feel, I really do. But we may as well stay now; it's been 5 years for me and we may as well see how this shitshow ends. I mean it can't be any worse than what we've already been through.
