A new power-up killer. I know, right now his T3 isn't that useful, but even if they don't patch it I'm gonna have fun trying to reach it.
An extra 3 feet of range on a lethal attack isn't useful??

Nemesis. He was crazy fun on the PTB and I can't wait to get my hands on him and the RPD map and come up with many more awesome builds on him. A Killer with built-in map control and a reliable ranged attack that breaks pallets? Dream come true.

Not seeing the survivors teabagging in the exit gates is enough credit for tunneling. I 9/10 will get 27k + by playing nice but I do get the exit party brigade on occation for playing nicely.
This. BP is meaningless; I play for the kills and nothing else. I want them dead on the floor by any means; not teabagging at the exit gates.

Yh i think also that it will turn more players away. I know there are some player who want this grind but they should not be the majority. But maybe they are the "whales" who spend the most money in the game.
If they're spending money then they don't care about the grind anyway. You just contradicted your own point.
-
If the grind was gone, the players would be, too. Guaranteed. You all complain about having to earn your goodies, but if you got them with no effort you wouldn't play.

You know why you don't have games where you can't do anything as Killer most of the time?
Because MMR isn't on.
You lost me at "pressure gens" by the way, you can have the fastest chases known to mankind and it just won't matter if you're not playing a Killer who as both good antiloop AND good mobility because otherwise by the time you've gotten the first hook of the match and gone to pressure someone else, three gens have been done.
K. If that's what you believe, nothing I say will change your mind. I'll keep succeeding in defiance of your claims.

The issue is that you're asserting that sweat matches are "challenging". There's nothing "challenging" about sweat matches in this game. A challenging game is fun. Dying instantaneously because a Spirit brought headphones and good addons or having your ability to chase and apply pressure be rendered irrelevant because Survivors REALLY wanted to hold down M1 while staring at a metal cube isn't challenging, nor is it fun. You're practically watching a cutscene by that point. I didn't come to watch a cutscene. I came to play the video game. I find no challenge in these scenarios because my skill as a player is completely and utterly irrelevant.
I disagree with you, for several reasons. First the number of games where I can do literally nothing as Killer are few and far between. Sometimes you get bad spawns and ta gen gets done before you can cross the map, but after that it's not too hard if you're up against equally-skilled opponents to regain control of the match quickly. Pressure gens, get downs and do whatever it takes to regain momentum and dominance. Including slugging, camping or whatever will work. Don't play like an AI and you'll find your games more interesting on both sides.
If you as a Survivor are safe enough to sit on gens all game then either you are against a vastly less-skilled Killer or you are avoiding interacting with the Killer. If the former, nothing you can do about that. If the latter, maybe don't just be a gen jockey. Do bones. Get the Killer's attention and run them for a while. Focus on saves. But just holding M1 on a gen and nothing else? That's your fault for only being able to do gens.

Gideons Meat Plant Use to be my favorite map to play but ever since the map rework I've found the amount of loops, breakable doors, and safe pallets unbearable to play against, it's like old Haddonfield on steroids. I've literally only found success on this map with Hag and Spirit, any other killer seems extremely easy to loop and get looped with on this map.
Been doing fine with Bubba, legion and Plague there, myself. Maybe try changing up your approach on this map?

So a trickster player is equal to a nurse player🙄
Reading comprehension is key.
A good Killer who has mastered the fundamentals of playing Killer will be able to play any Killer at a basic level. Mastery of the specific Killer powers and strategies is something else.

Sounds like an iri addon. He can pull it out during EGC and fire 1/10 secs. Big aoe, inflicts injury in the blast radius or a down if you get direct hit or are already injured.

- There’s gonna be very few people who enjoy that.
- Especially not me, so why should I be punished by going against these people?
- By “challenging” do you mean “my ability to do well is literally irrelevant because the other side wanted to sweat harder”?

1. Yes, there may be players who like stress, but I am sure it is much less than those who prefer to play without, at least, being ALL the games under stress. This is demonstrated by looking at the number of Killers at night (a very low number, which makes queues very long at night). Just because you feel stressed doesn't mean that you have lost the game. Feeling stressed and getting 4K is very different. And that's the problem, if I play a couple of fairly easy matches, a match with stress, honestly, it feels great, but 5 matches in a row of pure stress would be incredibly bad, at least in my case. Even doing 4K, all the stress I've felt in the match makes me lose the desire to play another one. Where I want to go is that, as much as I feel stress, I can continue to win matches, and therefore my MMR will remain or even increase, making my matches still stressful. There is no way to remove that stress unless it is by losing games and, therefore, reducing your MMR.
Your balancing concept will only make many Killers play far fewer matches in a row, since as I said before, one or two stress matches aren't bad after an "easy" or "moderately easy", but not 5 in a row without any "easy" match.
2. As I have told you, if you constantly face players with 10k hours, no matter how much stress you feel, you can continue to win matches, so your MMR will remain, you will continue to have stressful matches and you will get tired much sooner. Feeling stress isn't the same as losing matches, I think it's something that you haven't understood.
3. You haven't understood my point but absolutely nothing. What I'm referring to by that part is that, even if you aren't constantly facing SWF, if you face 4 survivors with 5k hours, it will not be exactly the same, but very similar to a SWF. What the MMR is going to do is make me face SWF and survivors with many hours, that is, I will never have a match against really bad survivors, so I will always have matches with stress, even if I win them.
You both assert that most people don't find challenging games fun, but provide no evidence of that fact. We can't have a discussion on a point we haven't even established an agreement on or verified as true yet, especially when many people have said otherwise. Working MMR will lead to some games being easier as your skill improves while others are harder as you get moved up to more skilled opponents. By not doing your best when playing, you give incorrect data to the system and make it hard for it to work correctly.

I think Nemesis is fine, just he needs little changes. 1 more zombie + some T3 changes.
I personally think a third zombie would be a bit too good. As it stands now they are plenty strong; maybe change one of his Iridescent addons to give a third one, though. That'd be worth an ultra rare addon.
@GannTM said:
Nemesis is fine where he was at on the PTB. I think all he needs is to become less add on reliant and to have his add ons that help him tier up faster to be nerfed. After that, he will be in a great spot.
People are over-focusing on tier ups. On the PTB I never even bothered with those addons because he tiers up so fast anyway if you play normally and use his power. Nemesis is a trap Killer like any other, but his traps move and you need to learn how to play around them and herd Survivors toward them. He's all about creating lose-lose situations.

Seriously. If they don’t gather data, they can’t determine if the system will ever work and what needs changing. This game is far more complicated to matchmake than an FPS like COD or whatever. It's not difficult to understand. If you are always playing games where you have maximum tension and are constantly under stress, there will come a point that you cannot follow, and therefore, you will get tired of Killer much faster, which will reduce the number of Killers and increase queue time. With Ranks matchmaking sometimes you have very stressful games, other times easy games, "balanced", but it's true that sometimes there are many easy games.
I don't speak for everyone, but I don't understand how you could be able to play the same way you do now, having to play from now only against SWF and / or people with more than 3k hours, games that would be completely pure stress .
People complain about Solo Queue, but 4 survivors who don't know each other but have more than 2k-3k hours aren't the same, but very similar to a SWF, their rapport even without communication is very high. I say this from pure experience, I have played Solo Queue games in which I have had monkey survivors and others in which it seemed like I was in SWF.
When I want to chill, I play something else. When I want to Kill, I play Dead by Daylight and I come into it expecting to get the sweatiest SWF death squad possible. This is my 'tryhard' game. Because putting forth effort shouldn't be a bad thing or perceived as one. It should be the default for any game you play. if you aren't trying, you are wasting everyone else's time.

Yeah, MMR is working.
And that's the problem. Once you get to the higher levels of MMR, the game is a dumpster fire. This game is one of the least fun, if not the least fun, games to experience a sweaty enemy team in. And EVERYONE sweats once your MMR is any levels of high. So the game because unenjoyable.
This proves what I have been saying for some time: DbD is a casual game for casual party game players who want to always have fun (read: win) every single game while feeling like they actually struggled. That handily explains why Killers' fun is rarely ever considered in BHVR's decisions but Survivors are constantly coddled; because the Survivor community are a cash cow and making them mad means the same it does for Killer players who displease them: Endless whining, harassment and a hate train slamming into you at full speed. Also, no money.

There’s a lot of transferable skills between m1 killers such as when to abandon chase general looping knowledge etc
By putting me against rank 20s as pig who I can play decently well since my overall game skill is decent it’s a stomp as expected
A good Killer player is a good Killer player on any Killer. We know this to be true.

Strong and Add On-reliant. The Add Ons to tier up faster when hitting Zombies or Survivors are pretty important on him. Like, the Tiers are fine, especially Tier 2 is strong (breaking Pallets). The Range-Increase of Tier 3 is also really nice, but you need to hit a lot of Zombies to get this. So while they help with buffing up, they are not really that helpful.
Those Add Ons might need to be nerfed and transferred to the Basekit, but currently I feel you want to run them when playing Nemesis (talking about Marvins Blood (yellow) and Tyrant Gore (green) here).
But Nemesis overall is a strong Killer, but I guess he will be annoying to go against on Indoor Maps because of the Zombies.
You guys are really overfocusing on tier ups. Do the zombie range and speed addons. Tiers will come if you just play normally, but better zombies pay off dividends quickly.

I just don't get it - why camp someone when you could be chasing other survivors, allowing them to heal and chasing them again, getting more hooks - all of which will get you more points. What's the fun in just killing the survivors as quickly as possible? By doing that, you're missing out on a huge part of the game and you are making a boring game for everyone - I will NEVER understand why.
And your personal feelings do not matter. Killers literally cannot win the way you want them to play unless they play absolutely perfectly, and maybe not even then. Stop trying to cripple your opponents and just get better.

Why so toxic when someone was pointing out why some Killers aren't very fun to play against?
If facts are toxic then it's the facts you have an issue with, not the person stating them. That means maybe those facts need to change, no?
By the ways, thanks to everyone who actually answered the question and engaged in a meaningful conversation. It wasn't for no reason; i got to thinking for some oddball reason that it might be an interesting experiment if we could see what the game would be like with just 115 M1 Killers; it'd give a good idea where Killers were at a baseline. I've found that a lot of the time I end up ignoring my power and just being a basic M1 Killer anyway. I noticed a big majority of my downs even on Killers with instadowns (I play a lot of Leatherface) are from M1 attacks and mostly powers just make the chase end a little bit quicker. I even did a good dozen no-chainsaw games and still did alright with no slowdown perks, but mind you this is as a rank 2 going against rainbow ranks.
And the mix of ranks and random SWF's is what did them in. The skill levels were all over the place to the point that the more experienced Survivors using more advanced tactics almost hindered the noobs because they just didn't understand what was going on. That in turn got me thinking about matchmaking and how it being so bad might be a good thing in a weird way, but that's a topic for another thread.

If anything, killers should have MORE powers to help differentiate them from one another. Passives that change the core flow of the game, like Freddy putting people to sleep, or Doctor's madness never being fully removable. Every killer should be a new, fresh challenge for the survivors, where typical tactics just don't work all the time, and new approaches have to be used. It shouldn't just be "M1 with a little bonus"
Now THIS I like. I actually would like to see Killers' powers having a bigger effect like this, but I'm fairly certain it wouldn't go over well as any fundamental changes a Killer caused would require learning new mechanics for Survivors and with as many Killers as there are that wouldn't go over well.

....what? this has nothing to do with the question. you just brought up an entirely new, unrelated topic for no reason.
It is not. The dislike for pig comes from her 'RNG' traps and depending on who you ask how weak she is (I don't consider her weak, but that's a matter of opinion). Remember, all that matters is subjective fun - if many people don't find a Killer fun, they won't like it regardless of the reason.

@mad_hatter said:
So every killer is exactly the same, just a re-skin. Sounds boring for both sides.
That's a hard no.
Agreed, but it feels like we're headed that way. We're even seeing it with newer Killers. Blight is a quasi-speed Killer who still has to run loops the normal way. Nemesis is an M1 Killer with pets and a ranged attack (but far from weak, not that I've seen anyone imply he's hopelessly weak).
I think that's where BHVR is trying to go: Killers becoming M1 with a special trick or two, but never a trick that makes 'Hold Shift + W' not the best strategy. This can be okay if every Killer is going to get some innate map pressure of some kind or a way to gain an advantage in at least a few of the main conflict points - for example, loops are one conflict point, hook skirmishes are a conflict point, generator defense/slowdown is a conflict point and so on.

Don't see why you're implying that I said Clown and Trapper were strong when I literally said that they were weak? I'm just pointing out that a lot of killers have aspects of their power that can be seen as unfun? I personally don't find the threat of an instant down after vaulting a window or pallet a very fun concept. And again, this is subjective, not everyone is going to have the same opinions on these killers. I personally love playing against Nurse but again, dislike Trapper. No need to be condescending about my opinions.
I wasn't implying anything. I gave a rebuttal to your 'reasons why this Killer isn't fun to play against'. Actually, no - I was implying something: That the survivor playerbase is lazy as hell and refuses to learn any new skills. I have yet to see any compelling argument to the contrary.
-
@indieeden7 said:
A lot of stronger killers aren't disliked due to their strength, it's due to certain aspects of their power that are seen as unfun to play against.
For example:
Spirit - Gives 0 information as to what she is actually doing while seemingly standing still
Nurse - Ignores every defence survivors have
Old Freddy - Passively ignored certain perks, had both pressure in chase and map pressure
Hag - Traps require survivors to waste time in order to avoid activating them (crouching) and can potentially end a chase due to the camera shift mechanic
Huntress - Hitboxes
This even applies to weaker killers
Deathslinger - ADS causes survivors to lose distance on killer or get shot, they have to guess what the killer will do
Clown - Forces early pallet drops
Trapper - Survivors can be forced to guess where traps have been placed or disarmed
At the end of the day, very few people want killers to be weak, it's just that a lot of people find certain aspects of killers boring or unfun to play against. This is also completely subjective, someone who loves playing against Nurse might hate playing against Spirit, whereas another person may love playing against Hag but hate playing against Nurse.
Don't push the narrative that all survivors want killers nerfed into the ground because it simply isn't true.
Spirit - Can't comment, don't play her because I hate being blinded and guessing.
Nurse - She does not. She doesn't ignore spatial awareness and learning to actually break LOS, use stealth and juke. What you mean is she negates the one skill that is most commonly had and honed by Survivors.
Old Freddy - pre-slowdown nerf Freddy was...eh. I guess. I don't care anymore, all the fun's been sucked out of him anyway. So sure.
Hag - I can't even take you seriously anymore. No setup Killer should be anywhere near a list of overpowered Killers.
Huntress - And if the hitboxes were any smaller nobody would ever get hit.
Deathslinger - One of the few Killers where the skill of the Killer player matters more than whether or not the Survivor made a mistake. Of course Survivors hate him; we established that they like being in control with their herd mentality.
Clown - Whatever. Not even taking you seriously anymore.
Trapper - HAHAHAHA! Are you kidding?! TRAPPER?!
-
Because she can put a kind of pressure on Survivors they have no control over. Survivors hate losing control, because losing control means they have to do something other than hold shift + M1 to win.
This is a casual party game, so it caters to the casual party crowd: Survivors.
-

Well, if I can pull people into the Dream World BEFORE turning into a M1 killer then yes, I would be happy with it.
Unfortunately not. I actually came to this question because consistently since the game's release I have seen countless discussions about Killer nerfs that were mindbogglingly nonsensical and just today i said 'Maybe this is another way that BHVR just isn't listening'.
So I'm asking: Do people actually want games to be braindead easy as Survivor and for Killers to just be punching bags?

I agree, ranking up should take more time and be harder, I also got to red rank 1 as a survivor within a week of getting the game, the problem that I see here is how wide the gap can be between killers, it's not the same when you have barely 300 hours into the game and you are matched against an equally experienced killer with the same amount of hours versus being matched with a red rank killer with 4000 hours into the game, the experience gap is too much and the game doesn't take that into account when matching players hence lots of players who reach red ranks can sometimes feel like they lose a lot.
They don't want to. Those players don't want to try or put forth effort and BHVR knows it; that's why they won't do anything to balance the game. They simply do not want balance or competitiveness. As much as many of us want a game of this type that is fun, competitive and balanced most of the playerbase wants it to be a goofy party game. But there is no alternative because every company that tries to make a 'DbD Killer' gets clever and messes with the formula, then their game fails and BHVR never learns their lesson.

I should've clarified, it wasn't in the first 10 seconds of the match they were found, the Doctor had found and chased others and after a few minutes was when they found them and downed them, then the DC happened.
This happens to me all the time. I find someone, I chase them, they loop me, they teabag, I down them, they DC.
It happens when Survivors think they are better than they actually are and come into the trial with a plan to humiliate the Killer, but instead get humiliated. Fragile egos because society and BHVR make them believe they are special and awesome no matter what and can do and accomplish everything effortlessly and flawlessly with no practice.

Ok I watched this again. He hangs Jake at about 5:12. Walks over to the nearest locker and grabs knives. He isn't really out of the vicinity until maybe 5:25 or so- but just to do a short loop around the building. By 5:48 he's already back at the hook (the base of the mound). Jake isn't anywhere near struggle yet. The idea that his teammates "ignored him", sorry I'm not buying it. It's normal that people are working on gens across the map. It can take 10-20 secs to RUN to another part of it. Since Trickster has a wide terror radius (I'm talking the treble of the music), most likely, survivors would walk so as not to leave scratchmarks, and to not run smack into him. This adds time on.
So again, at 5:48 he's back at the hook, and goes up it to stand right beside it. He commences to circle the hill tightly occasionally. Jake goes into second phase (struggle) around 6:17. That means he was right by the hook for 30 seconds BEFORE Jake hit struggle. Then he gets tired of waiting by the hook and jumps down, to see Nea running away.
I'm figuring, Nea had probably been there behind the wall looking for an opening for quite some time. Maybe even that full 30 seconds. But he never left the hook. Nea probably was never out of his terror radius. He chases the Nea, but leaves her to go RIGHT back to the hook. She probably jumped windows to make noise- anything to get him away. But no, he goes back up and stands directly beside Jake, knives raised.
Nea tries AGAIN to bait him away from the hook. Yun Jin is standing by. But once again, he refuses to leave the hook and we all saw the calamity that befell the survivors. He even tunnels Jake down. He hangs Yun Jin, goes get knives, hits only the generators closest to the hook (where he can immediately drop down when he gets the alert), goes back to the hook and stands there with his knives raised.
It's unrealistic to blame the team mates in this particular scenario, and doubtful they were ignoring Jake. If I were in that match, I might be tempted to just do generators and try to get out (optimal camping strategy for survivors). Yun Jin just killed herself probably because it was BS for her.
He posted sounding incredulous that the survivors labeled him a Camper. Alas, he was classic Camping lol (I mean, again, to each their own, but that's what it is).
I'm not sure why you're taking such offense to my posts. Everything can be observed in the video.
Everything I saw and all you said is reasonable behavior for a Killer in that circumstance. My god, can you survivor mains ever admit to just getting plain outplayed? He won because he played better. There are no dumb arbitrary rules because you think playing the actual game is too hard.

[INSERT KILLER NAME HERE] Beats me because I refuse to adapt, therefore they must be nerfed.

It's called bad play on your side, it's not my problem that you don't want to wait for safe unhook, if i see injured survivor i will punish your bad play, i don't care
What this person said, right here. If you unhook poorly and I see an opportunity to seize an advantage by killing the unhooked I will take it. The Killer is not obligated to ignore your misplays.

Not even DS can fix the amount of tunneling lately. Every match someone is being tunneled to death even after getting hit with DS or BT.
And with almost every match being on Coldwind, there's NOWHERE to go to get away.
Stop using Coldwind offerings. Rage at your teammates for not staying to protect you. Practice stealth.
All solutions to your problem. What won't help? (Not saying you did this): being mad at the Killers. They are playing to win; your fun is no concern of theirs.
