I gotta ask what's the reasoning behind running monitor and abuse on Blight? I would think Blight wouldn't get much value out of monitor due to the noises he makes when he rushes.

Survivors don't pay attention at all. That's why having no TR is so good and without one you can walk up and grab people on big, easy to see Killers like Myers. They rely so much on the heartbeat that without it they're helpless.

You expect survivors to start running killers for multiple generators without getting caught? Yeah, um, no — if the killer wants you, you're dying no matter what unless the killer is very inexperienced.

Any survivor who gets caught should at the VERY LEAST get BP and emblem credit for keeping the killer occupied at the hook. That's what the hooked survivor is doing if they are being camped, allowing their teammates to go objectives.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2225503#Comment_2225503

The bold above applies mainly to you. ^^^^^^

No. I want them to be smart and not get found in the first place or learn to break chase and lose the Killer. That's how you avoid getting downed; 'loop as long as possible' isn't the only answer, although Survivors want it to be. Learn new skills. Adapt.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2224800#Comment_2224800

Doesn't matter, if you're being camped, you're freeing pressure from you teammates to do objectives.

You SHOULD get credit for generator progress, healing, totems, and so on that your team does.

Of course, this alone won't be much to pip, but say you got chased for a while then camped since the killer got salty. The camping credit you get should make the difference!

Why should you get credit for stuff you didn't do? You lost. You failed. That shouldn't be rewarded.

    Hey everyone,

Probably a stupid question here, but I’m very new to the game (got it like last week but I’ve been playing a lot and ranking up fast), and I’ve been watching the forums and subreddit for a while now and I read a LOT of posts about toxic/mean survivors. So, to kinda combat or balance out the ######### people, I’ve been trying to send every killer I play against a nice message. I’m not able to message everyone since I’m on console, so when I can’t do that I try to friend them to show that I like/appreciate them.

My question for the forum is; Do killers enjoy being nicely messaged and/or befriended?

I’m doing it to try to spread positivity, but if it’s actually just annoying or an inconvenience to people I’ll have to reconsider.

    Some context info:

sometimes killers message me back and then they’re always nice, but mostly they don’t reply.

I send messages like: “Thanks for the game! :)” Or “You really steamrolled us hahah. Good job!”

Better than salt. But i'm happy if they just say nothing or GG. What burns me is when survivors are salty because I didn't play precisely how they wanted.

  • @Karao_Ke said:

Seriously. Why the hell do I have to de-pip just because the killer decides to stand 3 inches from my face and BM me on hook?

I'm not talking about endgame camping either, I'm talking about camping from the literal beginning of the game. Obviously I didn't have a chance to do anything, why do I get punished for it? You'd think the game would provide you with a safety pip (no pips, no depips) but nope.

Happened to me 4 times today. Jeez.

This is called 'losing'. It happens sometimes when you play a game.

  • @DawnMad said:

They are underpowered in open maps, overpowered in closed maps but hilarious to go down to in any map. They need changes though, they can be very unfair for survivors right now.

'Changes' means 'nerfs'. They need to be a non-threat or Survivors won't stand for it. Make them useless, BHVR!

And btw idk what y'all are doing; mine have been deadly on every single map.

  • Yep, Survivor entitlement on display. Not surprising at all; they only GG when they win. If they lose it's a slew of excuses and insults.

  • Two is more than enough. I've had no issue getting good use out of them and have done great most matches. Even on Red Forest.

Hint: The zombies move toward activity and noise. Like survivors looping you. Or survivors on gens. Or...survivors in general.

I hope you can figure out what to do now.

  • K. I'll be over here, being right. Again.

Soon as the Nemesis furor dies down, Blight will get his turn on the chopping block. Survivors don't like losing, ever. Even if it's completely fair. They will start the 'Nerf Blight' campaign soon.

  • I'm loving him so far. The zombies are absolute game-changers and him being a 115 Killer with a bit of range who ramps up is exquisite. But I'm a Myers main, so.

Yep. he'll get nerfed into the ground ASAP.

  • @stikyard said:

My only fear is that DBD is pushing more and more fast mobility. Look at Wraith now, he go ZOOM and, you can't see him until he's on top of you. Spirit ZOOMS, Nurse ignores everything, Tinkerer on Freddy is just dumb.

All of the S tier Killers are really mobile, to the point that other Killers seem weak by not being able to do that.

Demo's mobility is balanced by set-up and can be sabotaged by Survivors, Hag as well.

Not surprising, though. Survivors wanna run run run so Killers need to be able to keep up or they just lose. Killers who can win by having a way to prevent the Shift + W strategy by some other means (Deathslinger says hi) are widely hated as 'no skill' killers. Survivors dislike anything that prevents them from winning every game by doing literally nothing. They made the game the way it is; we just gotta live with it.

This is why any type of auto-ban is a bad idea.

  • @Mandy said:

There'll be more information about the autoban system in due course, I don't think anyone needs to worry about this at the present time.

Nah we definitely need to worry about it now so BHVR can't say nobody cared when it inevitably turns out to be an absolute mess. We don't trust BHVR because our trust has been betrayed so many times. We need answers NOW.

Yes, he deserves them. If he is a good looper and the killer doesn't lose him, he can't do anything the entire game. Stop being like this, he is 100% right. We all know the classic survivor match in which the killer is only after you. Why do I deserve to get punished for being bullied by the other side?

Sorry, untill yesterday, when I got back to playing survivor, I was a pretty selfish killer. But now, I actually see how trash solo q is and what pain it brings.

Playing the game isn't bullying. Stop with the victim mentality.

Yep, it'll come, too. Survivors swear they like to run but they hate aura reading and instant moris because it kills stealth. They want the best of both worlds. honestly, if survivors had their way Killers would have no powers or addons and no lunge.

  • @BenihimeWrath said:

You need both perks and killers that disproportionately reward skill input. Why is that? Well its very simple, because those strategies are for new players. These things that are built into the game are made for players to be both relatively simple in execution, and give new players a way to play evenly against players with more experience. These things are called FOOS, first order optimal strategies. Ideally the player base evolves past the need for these strategies because while strong, they are not supposed to be the most powerful or optimal. Instead strategies that are more complex are supposed to give way as the pool of skill and perks expand.

Unfortunately, the second part is not what happens because there is no more complex strategies that are more powerful to be used. Survivors have made sure that any viable killer build has been quickly hamstringed or gutted. And any attempts to do anything with gen speed, thereby increasing the pool of viable perks passively, have been swiftly shut down. So really, this is a product of survivor's shortsightedness as a whole. Now each perk slot must be pulling 400% duty, and nobody gets to have any fun.

This, right here. More complex and high risk/high reward strategies that Killers employ get nerfed swiftly due to Survivor complaints. Every time Killers lose a viable tool, they resort to the next best thing. Fact is, losing isn't fun no matter how it happens but survivors won't ever grasp that.

  • You know what? A Killer who can blind Survivors would be awesome. Let them see how it feels for once. Could base an entire power around that, or even add it as an effect to Hex: The Third Seal to make the perk worth running.

perks being abused outside their intended purpose totally doesn't happen, right?

Like with DS just don't tunnel, right? Well they working on a ######### generator and you randomly came across them only to eat a DS

Wasting your time. Survivors have never and will never care about fairness. They just want easy games, easy wins and a clown with a rubber knife to entertain them and be their punching bag. Don't try to use logic with them.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/249934/killers-are-too-op

    I don't know what other people said to you OP, but here are my six bits of advice as survivor. Even red ranked/experienced survivors struggle with this, and honestly, it shows. These aren't instant skills, but you should be asking yourself if you have them;

    1. Always be doing something. This doesn't have to be gens, but it usually should be. You should be doing totems, opening chests, being chased, unhooking, healing, or doing gens. NEVER just sit around crouching or urban evasioning unless the killer is visibly coming your way and hasn't seen you. Not across the map. Not 'hear the terror radius'. You can tell they are coming. I will legit do a gen when a killer is being looped 16m away, and if that killer doesn't get off the person they are chasing, a gen will be done in their face. If they do come towards me:
    2. Always have a plan. This one takes the longest to learn, because you need to learn all the map tiles, but you should always know where you are going to be going if the killer comes from X direction. You need to know which direction is safety. Which leads me to point three;
    3. Know which generators are priorities. You want to avoid three gens and give the killer the longest and safest (for survivors) patrol. This is easiest when you are working early game. The gen in the center is often the best gen to get done, unless the center building is very inconvenient and safe, such as Asylum. It almost always prevents three genning. You also want to get gens that are out in the open done as soon as possible, as well as gens where all the pallets nearby have been used. These areas are called Deadzones, and since you need to know where you are going to get safety, generators in deadzones cannot ever really be safe except through stealth. Finally, you want to get single person gens done as soon as possible, as they take the longest and have the least flexibility, while also being very viable to do during the early game. Pay attention, and learn by the killer which strategy is most important. Facing Doctor or Plague? Avoiding 3 gens is the most important thing. Facing a Leatherface? Avoid deadzone gens at all costs. Keep gens with vaults for the end. These strategies are heavily reliant on the skill of your team, because;
    4. This is a team game, not a solo game. Even if you are not playing with friends, you are playing as a team. Sometimes, you need to make a sacrifice. I am not saying you should make bad decisions, but sometimes committing to a gen, even if it means going down, is better than saving your own life. A single hook is 12% of the killer's goal. A gen is 20% of yours. Your first hook is definitely worth preventing someone's last hook.
    5. Learn the value of Shift W. Some survivors, and this happens at red ranks too, just run to the next loop. This wastes MASSIVE potential. As a survivor, your exhaustion perks, pallet stuns, or even regular pallet breaks give you a lot of time. A regular pallet break is 2.6 seconds. At 4 m/s, that is 10.4m of distance you get. Since a standard M1 killer catches up at .6m/s, that is 17 seconds before the killer can catch up to you. Do not just run to the next loop. Run as far as you can before the killer starts to catch up. This prevents you from creating deadzones that would be made if you just run to the next loop instead.
    6. Play both sides, including all killers. Today, I had a moment where I would have gone down against a Blight. Except I know he couldn't rush if something was really close to him, and he can only swing while rushing. I literally pinned him in, and he had to go into cooldown instead of getting a hit, letting me extend the chase for a good 10 seconds. I still went down, but you never know how important 10 seconds can be to your team.

This is great advice. Listen to it, Survivors.

  • @Smeagolthevile said:

I'm getting so sick and tired of it. Every single match I played today, and most I play on other days, are almost exclusivly tunneler/face camper.

Yes I can run perks for it, yes half the team gets out, but it doesnt mean that it isn't ######### boring as hell and frustrating to boot.

The blood point punishment for camping does not deter it, and something needs to be done, it.

I know that the devs say 'its a valid strategy' but it makes the game blatently unfun when you are the one being tunneled/camped, and when you are not, it makes the game god awful boring because you just sit there doing gens with no pressure no chases.

-If you unhook in front of me, I am downing the unhooked and probably you, too.

-If you unhook and don't protect the unhooked they're going back on a hook ASAP.

-If you circle around a hook being 'stealthy' i'm not leaving.

-If you teabag me, i'm killing you at all costs.

-If you heal in front of me during a chase, i'm killing you at all costs.

-If I suspect you are SWF, I am killing you at all costs.

tl;dr version - if you make a punishable mistake I will punish you for it. Don't screw up.

  • Old Legion was a chasing Killer 100% of the time. Frenzy had no real cooldown and you had to multi-stab people to down them with Feral Frenzy, but missing didn't have a penalty. What Survivors hated was that they couldn't loop Legion endlessly and had to use different tactics, so they cried long enough and got some streamers to join in and Legion is now a joke. That's how DbD goes:

-A Killer is decent at high ranks

-Survivors cry because they can't just hold shift+w and press space while chaining tiles together to win

-After a while devs listen to the crying and the Killer gets nerfed to the ground and all the fun sucked out of them.

This is why there are only a small handful of Killers you'll see played by serious players who want to win. Spirit is next on the chopping block now that they got all the old Killers, because as always Survivors hate to do anything but run run run and run some more. Stealth is a dirty word in this game.

  • @sonyasiren said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2189171#Comment_2189171

yea plague to me isnt an issue in terms of escaping, but on 2 occasions plague was camping the last gens making it impossible to win.

Then you 3-genned yourselves. Don't do that; if you do all the gens in one section of the map and none on one whole side, you deserve to be 3-genned. You have to play aggressively and go for the risky gens.

  • Man, my survivors are always on the other side of the map, 100% of the time. I've been told by survivors that it felt like they spawned next to me, but in every case I know for a fact they were nowhere near me because I tend to run Aura perks and/or play Killers who can move quickly, plus as an experienced Killer I know to immediately run to the furthest gens because if I do anything else at all that gen is gone before I even see a survivor.

Survivors always think Killers are camping or that they spawned right next to them or whatever excuse, but really its because playing Killer forces you to learn how to predict survivor movements. I am not camping when I know your buddy is over there behind that rock waiting to rush in for the save the second i'm far enough away; they are camping and i'm making the logical play. Killers are not stupid, we are not bots and the good ones are not there to make sure you have fun; they are there to win, by any means necessary and make sure they have fun. So if you're losing a lot as a Survivor, it's a 'you' problem, not a 'Killer OP' problem. Do not get sucked into the limited mindset where you only run meta perks. Be clever, be unpredictable. When you run the same build and play the same way as every other Survivor who slavishly obeys their favorite streamer you open yourself up to being countered by Killers used to seeing those tactics.

If you really want to be a great Survivor, play Killer too. Learn how they work, what they can and can't do, what their perks are. Reach Rank 1 as Killer and play there as Killer for a season or two and you will learn the game. If you don't learn and improve, you will just lose a lot, get frustrated and either quit or go back to survivor.

  • @Sluzzy said:

If you read here, you will believe killers are weak and survivors are OP. However, your opinion is fully accurate that killers are extremely overpowered. Even with thousands of hours, you can play 10 matches as survivor and every match is completely hopeless. Play killer and win every single match. Something needs to be done. The devs need to stop camping and tunneling with NOED and balance their game so it is fair. Look at their stats and stop ignoring them.

Do yourself a favor and ignore Sluzzy.

Believe me, Trickster is nothing compared to the crap we put up with back in the day, both Killers and Survivors. Most of the true OG Killer mains are gone to other games, and be glad they are because some are absolute terrors. I remember the days when true infinites existed, there was no bloodlust, hook sabotaging was permanent and there were a total of like 6 good Killer perks. My point was you are saying not every game needs to be chill and casual, the next extension to that is, go and play a game that is chill and casual, or the classic "Go play civilization" quote.

I'm not at all saying anything what you just said I did, but OP listed a lot of valid reasons as to why DBDs game design can result in anger. He's not even saying he wants the game to be more casual necessarily, he's trying to start a conversation around the design of the game, and you are basically implying that the fact the game could cause anger and frustration is totally cool.

It is totally cool. If you never feel anything, that means there is no investment. Games are supposed to make you feel some kind of way. Media in general is. That's the point. Nowhere did I say 'go play something else'. I said 'let people who want to play hard play hard and enjoy it'. That solves the problem; play how you want and let people enjoy the game their way. It makes the topic under discussion totally moot when you just let people play without getting insulted.

The best solution of course is to make a casual mode, but BHVR has made it clear they will never do that.

  • Oh really? Let's examine that claim.

    @FrndlyChnswSalzmn said:

Well that's what I do every game. I play my best and if I see an opportunity to snowball things into an early 4 man slug, I go for it. Or if I see that the situation requires me to play a bit of defense with 1 hooked/down, I do that. (for certain killers, its do this or basically lose) On the survivor side, being a distracting/harasser is indeed a role to play. If you want the killer to come at you, sometimes pointing and crouch dancing is a way to get them to chase you so other teammates can heal.

But in the post-game chat (like 9/10 times), I get yelled at saying that I shouldn't do that or that I'm a terrible person ruining people's games. I just feel that there is a disconnect between what the playerbase wants from their matches vs what the game gives them if people want to climb ranks as best as possible.

Pay the insults no heed. That is just people who are upset that they lost. They'd be upset no matter what you did.

The layout is very confusing to me but I suppose that's just something to be learned overtime. Looping seems FAR more difficult on it though, and I really don't like the huge hallways. I die on Midwich 9 times out of 10 when I typically survive most games I play on other maps. Just wanted to share this because it's probably my least favorite map next to Hawkins.

The op suggestion was that the survivors all just die when the 20 minute mark hit. Which would just be abused by doctor or Legion holding a thight 3 gen untill the timer hits zero. We really don't want killers to be able to kill everybody without actually engaging in chases

Where did you get the idea that the legion or doctor would open the door when they are 3genning?

Also how has the killer being able to open the door fail? I have never heard complaints of survivors refusing to leave after gens are completed since it was implented. The only way it "failed" is that survivors can just delay the game before the gens are done which my suggestion fixes

Also also how does this punish killers that can stop survivors from doing their objection? Are you just saying things for the sake of saying things? Nothing i said punishes killers in any way.

It's just a way to end games that are otherwise stuck. Nothing more nothing less.

Think you miscomprehended what i said cause your responses make no sense

Stopping Survivors from doing their objective is literally what the Killer's job is. You do know that, right? It is on the Survivors to finish gens and take the risks that entails, or die. They need a hard timer to force them to not stealth around doing nothing all game.

  • I feel bad after pummeling Survivors who just weren't ready sometimes, but as OP pointed out you never know who you're up against until after the game so I play like every team is an SWF death squad. And often I'm right.

  • @TicTac said:

I Subscribed to a VPN and while it does cut my connection speed in half, I feel secure that I can game without the chance that an asshat like that will ever be able to trace my IP anymore.

As for those who use VPN to join servers in different countries, Maybe give them a little slack. Sure they don't have the same reasons I do for using a VPN, but overall, have you ever thought that maybe the reason they do it is less about gaining a game advantage, and more about connecting to a better server than their area currently provides? I know this can be frustrating, but maybe they don't really deserve all the hate you're giving them.

I sympathize, man. I really do. Years ago I had a kid send me a frightening message with the location of my child's school and pictures of him. As for the players VPN'ing to play on better servers....not my problem. I'm sorry for them, but the crappy games they cause ruin it for everyone playing against them. Rubberbanding everywhere and missing hits because they're ten seconds ahead is no fun.

Do luck offerings and perks increase the chance of you escape a RBT? I’m not sure if it is affected by luck like trapper’s traps, since I really haven’t payed much attention, but I was wondering if anyone was sure.

No and this is why It makes me insane when people use the phrase 'RNG' frivolously, because it implies an element of chance. There is always one box that is the correct box for a given trap. All others will be the wrong box; this is why you sometimes get it on the first or second try and sometimes it's the very last box.

  • He did the right thing; one hooked, one standing there watching. He took 50% of the survivors off the objective with 4 gens left. This was a smart play by him and a bad play by you.
