Using out of match functionality? What are you on about?
in order to DISCONNECT from dead by daylight you must hit escape, which takes you out of the match (your character stops moving and doesn't do anything) then you click a button that says leave match. this is OUT OF MATCH FUNCTIONALITY. it was put there to END games where the EGC and other things could prevent the game from ending on it's own. the game gives you the option to 1) try to get off the hook and 2) to struggle against the entity or not. those are options presented in the match.

I don't care if it isn't increased. I care that it even exists. Even before DC penalty, the idea of it is dumb. Why should you be allowed to nope out of the game for any reason as a survivor (killer can't BTW) and ruin the game for 4 other people?
so we are going to punish those who get hooked and have no one coming to get them for even trying to get off the hook to continue working towards getting out? and then make everyone hit their space bar? I laugh at there.. guess what! the new killer puts you in a cage and you can ONLY sit there waiting, hitting skill check after skill check if your team doesn't get you out of there! you can't free yourself, you can't do anything but WAIT hahahahhahahah enjoy your time.. I personally think it's great that people have a way out of a match through IN MATCH MEANS. I think the killer should have the same treatment and have some place he can go and give up as AFKing is against the terms and rules.
you may think it's stupid but it keeps the chance of getting off the hook, as well as the chance to mess up making it harder for your team because you screwed up. all sounds normal to me for games with skill and chance!

That's not a legit reason. If your team is hook farming you, report them, that is a different behavior, or DC and take the penalty. You shouldn't get a "free" dc whenever you want.
yes lets tell someone to use out of match functionality which is the definition of CHEATING.... let's berate someone for doing something that can get them back in the fight! the DEVS have stated the dc's are down 35%, first hook dying is NOT substantially increased. please move along!

I'm surprised it's not being mentioned often that one of the biggest differences between survivors and killers is that survivors can acquire items and addons mid match. That easily makes up for the lower bloodpoint gains. Especially if I want to exaggerate how much an item and 2 addons are worth compared to how much a survivor makes in bloodpoints per game. And to compile on top of that, the very perk that lets you get 2 addons on top of the item also allows you to keep the addons if you escape the match.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1302143#Comment_1302143
I don't know if you were being serious, but I like the idea of different survivors being limited to different items and addons in the bloodweb. Let them pick up items randomly from chests in the map, but limited their bloodwebs to specific items and their addons would give some semblance of individuality.
i was only being partially serious. but yea it would be wild to make survivors not be able to have extra items.
-
hmmm this question again? easy to do... stop using them, if they are that valuable to you, just stop using them. horde them. killers don't always get what they want. I've been trying to get logger dye on my trapper for 15 blood webs! (the green dye for traps) I have 0. and you're telling me that I AM supposed to get one every 3 blood webs??? lol how about none for over 15 blood webs! IF you want a specific item you have just as much of a chance in getting it as the killers. how about this we remove the ability for you survivors to be "SKINS" and require you to PLAY a different character for what ever power you want??? ok.. CLAUDETTE's power is now a med kit. no one else gets them. claudette now gets only a med kit add-ons and nothing more. Jake is a sabateur, he can only get add-ons for a sabo build toolbox, but he's lucky his tool box can help slightly less than dwight's toolbox who gets gen repair add-ons. so on, and so forth..... you FORGET that if killers want to trap people with bear traps they HAVE to play the trapper, survivors can play claudette and get gen repair toolboxes. you are the ones whining here, you can go ahead and keep whining aobut your precious generator repair schematics or your medical scissors, I have gotten more green gauze charge items in survivor blood webs than I have gotten logger dye on trapper blood webs. so much so that I never am without the extra 16 med kit charges on my dwight (that I RARELY PLAY).... so please tell me again how killers are catered to? meh i laugh at this argument and laugh at the survivor privelige that I can't as killer play wraith with bear traps to FAKE you guys out!
Why do I say that? you bring a med kit i have to guess if it's a brown one with brown add ons or a purple one with purple add ons or in between. Now as trapper you follow me in the early minute of game and see me place three traps around the shack. you pretty much know I have a purple bag right there, and then you look at the traps and notice they are very dark. now you know my two addons, and I know nothing of yours as I haven't seen you yet. but when i do, I know nothing of what that med kit can do. You know you can trigger my traps without being hurt yet I don't know how many times you can heal yourself. you say killer gets all the information, they don't they get minimal info and no one is there to help them as in with a SWF (even a two man). So I think you might want to rethink your thoughts before you argue your way into having to buy all the skins for every survivor in order to look cool when you have specific powers on your survivors.

Amanda's Secret default?! OH GOD NO! I wuvs my wittle Pig Pig and would never abuse her!
I suppose that kinda makes sense, though what if you could only see one box's aura at a time, kinda like Freddy's clocks, until a generator popped and then you could see them all?
thing about freddy's clock that is visible, is THAT IS YOUR ALARM CLOCK. none of the others will work to wake you up. so you know exactly where to go to wake up, so if you were just randomly highlighting one box that'd make it worse becuase then the survivor would go to it and waste time. this should still be an add on, not basekit for fairness sake. If you highlight the ONLY box that matters (like freddy's clock) then it defeats the purpose of being a slow down and ends up helping the survivors and being a detriment to the killer (I'm not an expert and don't think this is how rule set 2 works, just trying to point out the comparison to freddy's clocks and highlighting one box is not the same).
-
you still do not get it? you said you "FIXED the Dev's comment" you did no such thing. you are not a dev, your idea would require a large reprogramming and adding in conditional statements that can easily get corrupted if something were to happen. I know programming code and this game is already over a million lines of code if not more than that. I told you that if you were a dev for this game i bet your idea would be considered but since you aren't and know not how the game is coded then you will not get what YOU WANT. I don't want that system. I want to depip if i don't qualify for it, I want to PIP if i qualify for it. I want to safety if I qualify for it. I don't want a hand out just because the survivors bullied the killer and the killer was a red rank and depipped because the survivors worked efficiently which out strips the killers efficiency by light years.
there is a better way to work within the system than forcing someone to wait, that is a penalty not a fix, it's WORSE than a DC penalty because my pc decided to reboot itself. That's a good question, now that you want this idea of yours and you have the BEST solution ever..... (sarcasm) what if someone got disconnected.... power outage, intentional dc what ever. how do you handle their standing? the game can't do both at the same time so what is that answer?
I want the game to be in as good of a balance as possible but not by giving hand outs to one side or the other. your idea to make someone watch a game that COULD go on for 30 minutes is ludicrous. If i'm solo and I get pushed out I want to move on and play a game where i might end up getting what I missed in the last game. I don't need to sit there seething because I was tunneled out of existence while I am forced to WAIT for the end game to get my blood points, new rank designation or even watching the boring game play for the 25 minutes of the remaining game. I don't want to see a killer depip because he was TOO efficient and survivors were potatoes and died on first hook just to see us safety pip and they loose when everyone should have lost a pip.

I've never been one to DC. Last time I DC'd intentionally was probably over 1-2 months ago. DBD keeps giving me the "disconnected from host" error, it appears that the killer DCs. Then when I go to lobby, low and behold I'm blocked again. It started at 3 minutes, every few games I'd get kicked and blocked, then 14 minutes, then 28 minutes, and when I posted that I had played one game that day and it kicked me and blocked me for 1 hr. You might try listening instead of projecting. It's not like we haven't seen hundreds of bugs already from DBD. As far as I'm aware this might only be a PS4 issue. There are other people having the same problem. It's making the game unplayable, literally.
I prefer to play survivor, and the reason I played killer that time was because it game me the failure to join party error.
Also, since I was playing killer when DBD kicked me, I didn't get a disconnected from host error, it didn't give any error that time.
so have you sent bug reports (and support tickets) in with your logs so that they know it's happened and can investigate? if so then they are the ones to let you know what is going on. but you can be discconneted for reasons out of your control as well as out of behavior's control. network issues happen and you will never know if it was a temporary, momentary or even a permanent issue. I suggest you try pinging the dedicated server if you can find the ip address of it, or the connection name, but instead of ping really use TraceRT and that'll show you how many hops you go through to get to where you are. each of those hops you see is someone else's router. if that router has a power outage you get disconnected from the match you are in, but it appears to be the same as someone pulling the ethernet cable from their computer or router. once you are disconnected your computer will try to reconnect you to dbd again but it can't reconnect the match you were in.
really there are no guarantees that you will have a good connection because of how the internet signal is passed from site to site. so honestly if you see yourself getting several disconnects then you might want to take a break before it gets out of hand and you get to that 1 hour time out.

I was fixing the developer's comment. He said it wasn't possible. But it in fact is. So I told the OP and dev why it is possible and explained why the dev said it wasn't possible.
Its because it's a waste of time. No one wants to wait on a spectate screen for hours on hours. Plus to make this work it would have to calculate all the Survivor's pips as well.
Did the survivor depip and the killer de-piped? Saftey pip for each survivor who de-pipped. If the killer did not Depip and The Survivor does then it would depip the appropriate Survivors. So it would have to make extra calculations. Plus the Devs love the stats screen how it is. They dont want to ever change it.
Plus I labeled my comment as: "The Devs Personal No Translator" due to me just rephrasing the Dev's comments to make people understand why it is miserable to do this suggestion. But thanks for your concern.
you are a waste of time, you did not "FIX" the dev's comments you made your own FIX that doesn't work for this game. period. if people would be forced to WAIT out 5-30 minutes more of a match depending on what is going on and making it so they can't move on then you know what? people would not play solo at all, thus the game would loose part of the survivor player base. and match making for 2 stack swf and especially 3 stack swf's would suck. and people would stop playing. if you're going to CORRECT a dev in how they see the game and understand it's player base you need to be a dev of the game yourself. plus your comments are erroneous, because you would force people who do really well against a killer that does very poorly into not advancing at all. no your ideas are worthless. make your own game, publish it, sell it, keep it going and you can make these decisions yourself otherwise don't "FIX" what a dev says, disagree but you know nothing but your very own wants.

What it truly shows is that lots of people are home and not working and are playing DBD. Those are inflated numbers. This might be causing server issues, and might be the reason DBD is dropping some of us, like myself, tried a game last night as killer, one killed, game going pretty good several generators left and I get kicked from the server and put on a 1 hour ban.
Thanks DBD!
1 hour ban??? oh yea sorry you mean a 1 hour temporary block. but how many times did you disconnect using the leave match before hand? I mean the first dc without priors is 5 minutes. not 1 hour... so you obviously disconnect more than just this one time. doesn't work like that. please move along and stop disconnecting because you don't like what killer is played.

I modified the saying to make it relevant. Doesn't take away from the point. What a great mindset to have.
That isnt cheating. Well you are right, it is not cheating, but the spirit of what the survivor wants is still there. They still get to leave the game early, and they screw over their teammates. And keep their points. The purist win/lose scenario for everyone but the hook suicider.
alright fine lets remove the chance to get off the hook and make you sit there and do nothing for 1 minute. then you can't struggle, you have to wait another minute for death to happen. or until the last person on hook gets to stage 2. how about that? sure let people get stuck doing nothing. The have to wait for people they don't know to pull them off the hook. oh they can't then go afk becuase they could be rescued at any time. it would really make this game a great game for everyone. It is reality, there is a chance (I know it's happened for me) to get off the hook and back into the game. but if i don't trust my compatriots will come get me, I'm sure as heck not sticking around. and what difference is it if I am hooked once and left on the hook to death than if i try to get off the hook and fail and not stay in the game? I'll tell you the only differeces: 1) I'm getting no points (thus a waste of my time) and 2) the killer has one less hook to put someone on. oh wait. it's no difference in game play for the other 3 survivors if I'm left on the hook the whole time.
if it is a choice between using something provided in the match versus something outside of match I would prefer people to use the in match functionality. even if they do get off the hook AND, go run to the killer, they waste the killer's time to down them and re-hook them. time the others can spend on the gens. OR they get off and continue playing as normal. who knows, but you don't want to allow that possibility to exist. Keep the DC penalties and accept people will get out of a match but in a way that doesn't punish as hard why? 1) the killer HAS to find them and get rid of them. trust me, if they are standing still long enough they get crows and that gets annoying to the killer so they go take them out so it's not so loud. then the killer has to take them too a hook, and once on the hook the killer has to either walk away or possibly face camp them. now that's not often done but it is a possibility. Finally once the person is removed from the game, the killer is now down a hook and it could be the hook that saves your life because others sabo'd the other hooks in the area so you get to wiggle out of their grip.

I would imagine they could still set something up like that though.
it isn't easy. even Everquest doesn't have anything where they can run a set of code data to JUST see what happened. and EQ has been around since 1999! it'd be great, but it's a good want, but the devs can see what the code interaction is doing.

"The DC penalty, most people have experienced whether it be from exiting a match, losing connection, or the game crashing, but that's just it. The penalty doesn't affect dcing as much as it affects poor connection or the game dying, meaning innocent players will receive bans for unfair reasons."
Game crashing is really an issue on your end, update your PC
Losing connection during a match is also more then anything on your end, if you have unstable internet then you need to address that, other players should not suffer under your problems.
as I would normally agree with you, but there are times where it is the game or EAC that cause the issue but they are in the true minority. usually the errors that cause program crashes are: Hardware failing or failures, software instabilities introduced by other programs running, game code executions and even incorrect network connections causing the instability. many people don't know that they are running lots of programs, and think oh, i'm only running my steam, dbd, windows and discord... but what they forget is windows is running 100's of programs, steam is running programs other than just the client. even dbd is running EAC in the background. all those have to fight for attention and any one of them could cause issues.
however, there are errors in the code of the dbd main program that can happen to cause issues though, i will not say it is only on the pc's end but i'd say 80/20 or 90/10 pc/game only issues.

I've not heard of anything about reporting through any of those channels. I've heard streamers say they will send clips to the devs themselves of hackers and stuff, but I don't think the devs would like everybody sending them messages or flooding discord with reports.
So those may work, but not as a consistent reporting method for the whole community.
some streamers have direct contact with the dev team as they tend to play the game in a public forum and have video proof more often than not. Also they have been around the devs at conventions. I know how to contact one and I still use the support ticket and in game report. I might put a bug into the dev's ear that i know to look at it but i never expect it to do anything.

Isn't there a way they could just have flagged reports save a recording of the game and have a human review it?
I don't know how they have it set up, but they have access to the raw data depending on what the dedicated server retention rate is, but it's not easy to put that into a video format that can just be viewed. think of it this way: you can get a book from a library and read it, but you can't turn it into a movie or tv show without changing it and removing things. you can't just take the vhs movie and watch it without the device that reconstitutes the data into the video on your screen. thus why the video is requested, makes it easier and rightfully so.

submit a ticket and post in the bug forums to let them look at it. follow the post rules so you don't get asked for things and possibly get the post closed because you aren't providing the right information.

So you would punish 10 innocents in case you get 1 real quitter instead? That is a healthy mindset.
Another issue I see with this argument: People on the forums are nothing like in game. These people here are really... whiny... whereas people I actually play with don't really care (they do, they just don't whine). Maybe that is an Xbox thing, but I don't think so. I think a minority of people actually stay on the forums.
It would only fall apart because they made their game unfun. Like old Ruin, DC penalties only cover up the issue, not fix it (the issue this case being general game balance for fun). And, on top of that, they encourage people to kill themselves on hook instead, which is just a work around. If people want to leave, they will find a way to do it.
first of all, it's not 10 innocents for 1 guilty. the dc problem was much more than a 10 to one.. it was more like 10 dcs to 5-7 non intententional dcs. but people look for ways around this as posts like this always show. "I can't possibly have my internet intentionally disconnect" "video of streamer reaching over to their router and turning it off" (not a real situation but it can be and it's been questionable at times). This is the problem with this no one here knows where the problem really lies, to be honest I know it has caused a rise of first hook kills but you know what? that isn't cheating. cheating is using any means outside of the rules to gain advantage or change in game that benefits you or is a detriment to the others in the game. So disconnecting was done to circumvent the ranking system when it worked (by deranking faster) so you'd be matched against easier opponents. and it utilized a command outside of the match functionality where as struggling or choice not to struggle as well as trying to get off the hook are all possibilities in the match!

It would be possible but would force you to spectate the match until it is over. Then it would calculate the Killer's pip and see if he de-piped if he did then all survivors would get a safety pip if they "de-piped" so technically it would be possible but... would have to revamp the entire statistic screen so in short words Peanits, doesn't want the rest of the devs to waste time doing so (because being forced to spectate is also unfun) so his answer was simply trying to say no ;P
--The Personal Developer "No." Translator.
so if the killer depips... then the survivors can't gain a pip! perfect logic!!!! So what happens when the game bugs out and can't shut down? yes these errors happen. so when will that work. what if the game was a 3 man swf and a single? and that single wanted to go play another game of dbd? nope can't gotta watch the boring match as the swf tears apart the newbie killer and doesn't leave till all gens are 99'd before the 5th is completed, all 5 totems are done, all pallets used to stun the killer and then wait at the end of the exit gate tbaging waiting for the killer that just gave up and is waiting for them to leave so they can shut down and leave the game completely (or go to something else) and only the solo and the killer were a match for each other as they were both in the 17-20 rankings.
-
First of all, there is obviously no way to physically simulate a network crash or to use the pc to simulate a game crash... oh yea you can do both!!!!! Please tell me how it would be easy for an automated system know the difference between an intentional network outage, or client crash? no you can't. without the dc penalties i've seen people dc multiple matches in a row, leaving their teammates to win without them. and they STREAMED it... didn't give a damn about it just kept doing it. one time it was 10 matches in a row. some of the reasons? "I don't like this killer." "the killer nodded at me" "The killer came back to the hook but didn't chase me" "I got tunneled" that's just some of the crap she said herself ON STREAM. people like this are why they are NECESSARY!
Also there is a case about the client crashes that SOME people get, but till they start sending in their logs to behavior and the proper tickets put in so it can be looked at so we can find out what is wrong. I know two people that can play games like dbd but not dbd. I know people like myself that have a problem once in a blue moon, and I know people that have issues when there is an update. I've run into a few with network issues, but rarely. I have lag issues when i'm playing with friends in sweeden but rarely when i'm in the usa with friends, even across the country. Windows varies from computer to computer, because of the model of computer, the age of the computer, the age of the video card, the last time windows had maintenance done to it. all of these are factors in both client crashes as well as network drops. I've seen people running programs to keep their drivers up to date but the programs they are using are known trojans and viruses as well as link to sites that are infected with viruses. We need to stop blaming the game and send the information in and figure out what it is and FIX everything! and you might find dbd isn't as bad as you say it is.
-
how about this, killer safety pips or more if the survivors get decimated and any one of them depips.... also the rest are limited to a safety pip if a survivor depips...
I know this is not possible, but it's silly posts like this that make me laugh at the insane ideas that people will come up with to not be awarded with what they did or did not do.

I agree! It should open when the survivor dies, not 10+ seconds after.
And to clarify in the specific scenario I described here the Killer already knew where the hatch was. And with these smaller maps he was able to cross the map with ease and get to it while I stood there waiting for the hatch to open. I was at it and waiting literally from the moment she got hooked. 😂If it had opened when the survivor died it would be great.

"The Killer did nothing wrong here. He played a great game and he didn't owe me an escape. I'm not mad at the Killer, merely frustrated that even after playing a great game it comes down to losing because of a dreadfully, painfully long animation." -- If a great game is played then I certainly do think that both Survivors and Killers will typically think that they qualify for a win. I didn't say that the Killer should have let me go or that I was entitled to it. Finding the hatch should be enough to leave.
This entire post was extremely positive and was started to discuss the pros and cons of this and to share opinions. Your entire post was low grade bait and trying to be insulting and aggressive. Let's be constructive and friendly! Thanks! <3
I was being constructive. showing you where you were being SELFISH. thank you much.
-
I report what happened to me, but i'm guessing this is what happened to me as well. Also I was on a different map, so it's now not map specific but could be related... dunno.
-
The hatch opens IMMEDIATELY once the third survivor leaves the match completely. I've timed it, and when the soul is pulled through the sky it opens. stop trying to say you have to live just because you did X and ended up being the last alive. you are owed nothing, nor is the killer. the hatch was introduced to allow some to get out in general, not to guarentee anyone an escape. this is why the "hatch-tek" exists. once the second to last survivor disconnects the hatch opens immediately and that is abusing out of match functionality. get over yourself thinking you deserve to survive. the hatch now closes in order to prevent the survivors from opening the doors and hiding to make the game last forever if someone got hatch with key.
but once you've failed at your primary/secondary objectives of gens/totems you want a boost to get out? wow. bet you want unlimited ds strikes too!

You do realize this isnt just on pc right and this game is about 10 times more broken on console than you guys realize.
I do realize that it is on xbox one and ps4 as well as pc. it is also on mobile. what is the state of the game there? I don't know but the person I was replying to talked about a specific instance and I answered that instance. another said they had wifi issues, this is not something that is unique to console either. It also said nothing of the client in the case of the wifi issues but a connection issue between the console and the servers. now for my response to the clips shown I agreed this is a bug that happens but it happens rarely (but not extremely rarely as i can testify that I have had this issue once in 1.5 years and I have seen it happen to a few others in 1.5 years but not that many personally so I would not deny it happened. Thus I do not deny that there are issues on console but again does not excuse the mentality of "I don't like" X "so I will disconnect." That mentality is what brought upon the Penalties in the first place.

I don't remember ever getting blood points from the killer closing the hatch. I'm pretty sure opening the gate just earned you points in objective based on how long you were holding the handle down. Now, on top of that, I noticed also getting a flat 1500 in survival for actually finishing the process.
It is easy to miss because you're concentrating on the rest of the screen at the time but yes.... it has been there for a while, it was implimented when you started getting points for throwing the pallets and vaulting as well. I'm not as clear on the extra door points myself, but wouldn't say it doesn't happen.

@DWolfAlpha said:
Idk if these are new, but I don't remember them being there before.
-When the killer closes the hatch, survivors are awarded a small bps event called "pressured" in the survival category
-After you fully open an exit gate, in addition to the bps event for working on getting the gate open, you get a secondary bps event for actually opening it (forget the name) in the survival category.
hatch pressure has been there for a while, and i think the other as well.

This bug has existed since 2016, by the way.
It still isn't fixed.
I guess it must be OBS or some other program causing it, though. The game totally isn't spaghetti coded or anything.
I guess I should close my Firefox or Discord or something. Maybe it will fix not being able to get deviousness points with Huntress this patch. Or maybe it will fix Wraith's uncloaking, or Billy's chainsaw. Or heck, maybe survivors will stop having built-in iron will half the time! /s
first of all I did not SAY that there were NO bugs, I even said that specifically there are bugs. I have seen this bug in person once in 2000+ hours since october 2018 (when I got dbd), I have also seen it on 3 other people. This is a bug and it is one of the times that the out of match functionality to disconnect SHOULD be used, but since people did it because "I'm being tunneled", "I was found first", "The killer hooked me instead of letting me go", "The survivors got my ruin/devour hope within minutes of the match starting", oh yea how about "oh he's going to hook me in the basement and i will deny him points and challenge completion!!!" and a plethora of other reasons that are not "The game can not complete without some how breaking the connection" which how ever you DID show one such instance in your response. another such instance is that the killer or survivor is stuck in the geometry of that game and the game won't stop even after EGC expired.
Originally the idea was the out of game functionality would not be used by most people because 1) it's not specifically mentioned, 2) people are good, upstanding and honorable, and 3) people want a good clean match and fun. how ever people are not always 2 and 3, and are very observant. the original thought was the lost of the bloodpoints and 4 pips was the best, they changed it to 2 becuase it seemed too excessive of a penalty, but in the long run it became a way to de-rank quickly and face easier opponents. this is why it is unfortunate that issues like what you saw is penalized to leave like that, HOWEVER if you only do that every now and then and don't dc for nonissue reasons you won't have a 24 hour suspension. or even 6 hours. Too many bad apples have now poisoned the bunch and that is why we have what we have now and it still doesn't stop people from intentionally disconnecting to the point they try to fool the system by quickly unhooking their network connection (not everyone does but there are a good number that do still, and it has been reduced from what it used to be).
EDIT: there are lots of things that can happen to introduce or REINTRODUCE bugs in games like this. Everquest also was the same way, they'd drop a patch and suddenly bug A was back! or bug B is now here. people in Everquest would report it and submit their logs, and the devs would fix it. but in dbd what I see is people who say "there's a BUG HERE! I'll just leave this match and start into a new one without even reporting the bug i encountered in the last game because the devs will know exactly what happened and fix it anyways. Now did you report your bugs? or did the people in the match that had that bug report it? I don't know but i've seen so many not report anything and keep going.

I had to leave about 3 matches due to me getting stuck in the middle of a pallet as bubba and the other couple of times were due to someone DCing in the first seconds of the match.
if the game cancles because of a dc during load in or at the very beginning generally there is no penalty (I've never seen that)

It needs to be as soft as it is now because this game is still a broken mass that will crash or boot you out in the middle of the match randomly for no reason, if you don't get indefinitely stuck in a locker or trapped falling in the void or permanently stuck inside a pallet or permanently stuck being healed to the point that even EGC won't finish you off -- or some other nonsense that exists.
Hell, people are apparently getting stuck unhooking people now with this patch.
hell no, it needs to be stiffer. people are still dcing to give teammates the hatch, people are still dcing as killer because they aren't winning or finding anyone, people are still dcing because they don't like what the killer is doing. till that STOPS then it needs to be stiffer for that first penalty, and should never be a set number of instances of dcing removed each 24 hours, it should be unknown and dependant upon the number of dcs on account before one disappears. STOP trying to make it sound like the game is screwing up every minute people play it. i've seen people play four hours and not a single bug (beyond latency issue) which are always blamed on hacks or even the game program being bad. I've seen people have their obs freeze, restart their stream then play dbd and have their dbd program freeze on them and they blame that only on dbd. so many times people will blame the program when it probably isn't their game.
ARE THERE BUGS? yes! are they reported properly? NO! many times people won't report them and upload the logs for the devs to look at the damn things and expect the devs to know what is going on! especially if it's the local client or local computer causing the issues! I've seen fog whisperers have a game crash, say it's the game client, and never report it or even say they'll report it later. till things are done on the player base side to report these issues PROPERLY there will always be problems just like till people stop abusing functionality intended to be used as a last resort, the penalties are TOO SOFT.

I agree, I’ve had weird glitches where it was the game’s fault that i was disconnected from the game (eg. Game crashing or just randomly throwing me out of the game even though my internet is still running perfectly fine)
it can be really annoying especially if you’re in a good game that you’re enjoying
I agree there are problems and though those problems are not always the fault of the devs. most people that play this game don't know about how networking works, or even how windows works. please not I said most, not all. There are glitches and problems and the DEVS said we should allow the players to have a way to leave a match that could not be completed by the game NORMALLY. Sadly many found this and said "HEY! I don't like how that killer has nodded at me, or that that survivor has a key! I'll use the out of match functionality to get out of this game!" or the survivors who opened the doors, found all totems, searched the chests and found the hatch but never leave the map. Killers have no way to get anyone when they get to this point and go hide, since they are in comms they know where he is and going when someone is near enough to the killer and not be spotted. (the last here is why EGC was implemented)
This game is solid for me 95% of the time, and 4% of the remaining five are because of my computer or network issues out of anyone's control, the remaining 1% is the game itself. not a bad number really. if there are computer errors, i'd look to computer issues before blaming dbd but no one wants to admit that they need to fix their computer or they might be infected by viruses etc. there are issues yes but not like people here say they have without it being an issue of the computer in some way.
Now we get DC penalties to punish those who break the ToS and then people whine about bugs that kick them out once in a while. ALSO think it's their right to ruin other player's matches. sure killing oneself on hook is bad but atleast it's in match functionality. I have heard stories about i got kicked once and got a 24 hour ban, or 15 minutes and what not... it's hilarious when the first penalty is 5 minutes... what have they been doing to get the other timers.... lol....
-
for what? being logical? lol.... the dc penalty is too soft imho.
-
@Cardgrey said:
im sure that a simple 1 dc does not = a day
just wondering how many dc do you have for a 24 hour ban?
I too am curious.... enquiring minds want to know!

@AestheticCharms said:
I 100% respect the decision of the dc Penalties, but if your wifi goes out and come back with a 15 min ban shouldn't be a thing. If you're disconnected from the game due to network failing all of a sudden, and you get a ban I think it's the most absurd thing ever.
first of all the first time you dc is a 5 minute penalty. if you're getting a 15 minute penalty then you've already used the simple one and now are on to others. DONT DC and your wifi issue would show nothing after you get back because it'd be over...
second of all, it doesn't matter the platform anyone who is using something that can be cut by a multitude of things is asking for some dc's at some point, which then re-iterates the idea of not intentionally DC'ing to limit how many times it happens. I don't care how many times you do it, once is enough unless it is because the match is 100% bugged you are caught in the geometry so that the game won't end, or the movement is bugged where you can't leave or move and again the game can't end.
Also as to a network failure, you could be hard wired, and pull the ethernet cord and that's a "network failure" but it would require indepth investigation that'd take several days in reading the specific network connections to know if it was a true failure or someone just pulling the cord. obviously we don't have days to discover this... so we have what is there. it's regrettable that some failures will cause this but if you do your best to keep your connections right, you'll be better off and not get lots of time.

Ah my bad, I’m confusing this with a different thread where I said basically the same thing but eoth everything at the end. Sorry for my hostility (still though, pretty obvious I wasn’t being serious).
Still, though, I’d like to emphasise that I was joking, and even if I wasn’t- how many times a day do people complain about “tbagging toxic survivors”? Therefore if it’s such a widespread issue the devs should look into it, which they’re doing.
I accepted you thought you were joking but you didn't make it apparent here and i can understand that you might post different messages here or there. you are correct too many talk about tbagging as toxic... it's more silly and useless unless the killer lets them get under their skin.... i love that i got someone thinking he was close enough to be hit out but couldn't get out when i knocked him sideways instead of from behind and hooked them to death and they complained heheheh tough luck for them.

Wow you must be fun at parties.
Did it not occur that, despite lack of sarcastic notation, the exclamation marks, sarcastic mocking comments of "killer mains rise up!" and the overall nature of the thread that it was, indeed, a joke?
There were lines to read between. You just missed them greatly.
here is the FULL quote you have that I commented on: "People complain about tbagging so the devs are testing peoples opinion on if they think tbagging is actually unfair." (along with the general response to the thread) where are your exclamation marks? where is youre "killer mains rise up!" and anything else you JUST said you said??? I'll tell you, it's in your mind, that's where. I told you there was nothing to make anyone think you were joking or anything.
as i said before: your sarcasm was not apparent, you did not communicate it in any way what so ever. If you think going back later and stating that you said it doesn't make it true. and in person I can tell sarcasm because of vocal inflections, eye rolls, and many other things. so get over yourself here and stop making things up. enjoy!

You can edit your perk colors, you can change game settings from files, you can even delete the intro video to load the game more quickly. BHVR says you shouldnt because they have not much control on the anticheat they use, if the anticheat detects that some important files are touched, you may get banned and they wont be able to do much about it. These things I listed are some of the okay things but you still should research guides or such to not mess up anything if you arent sure what you are doing.
Yeah the hacking has gotten bad recently, I hope they do something soon.
the devs have said they don't care about changing the pictures, or the colors of icons and portraits nor will they go after you if you do it. HOWEVER they have said that if EAC catches it, EAC might do something. Usually it says your files are not correct, you need to redownload. I personally haven't had this happen but it's happened. I have not seen a ban because of altered icons or portraits.

nice sarcasm notation there.... text does not equate to understanding sarcasm when there isn't anything to say it's there. and before you say I'm always like this or read between the lines, there weren't lines to read between and i know you as much as i know the king cockroach so next time if you want to make something sarcastic include something like /sarcasm off or even :P or something to give an idea it's happening. plus I wasn't just responding to you, though yours was the most direct response. I addressed the whole thread.

I mean these perks are only broken on the rare occasions you face a try hard 4 man SWF, even then I see streamers like Tru still 4k them.
I don't understand why you want to remove those perks and I play both side btw I ate many DS because frankly I don't care that much about it but I probably won't ever be a R1 killer, I just like enjoying my games too much.
I agree with you 4 man swf's might be a very, very strong but not always. and even the very strong swfs have off days, mistakes made and killers like tru and others do get 4k's. the issue with DS and unbreakable is more the end game use of these perks (and borrowed time) where people will hold on to them till the end game and ensure so many get out. there are a great deal of people that use that 60 seconds of immunity esepcially at the end of the game. many killers say remove it, I say it needs to be tweaked to be less powerful but I will admit I can't honestly come up with a good solution myself.

Thanks for the response. Thought it was kinda weird for this kind of issue to only happen in DBD but these do appear to be isolated cases.
you are very welcome. I've had issues like these in Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer, I've been booted from matches there and when it first came out i've joined mid match so they lost someone (at the begining it was always 4 people in the multiplayer). I've also been disconnected in everquest, eq2, coh/cov, swtor and other mmo games (all these servers or connections are controlled by the respective companies EA, SOE/daybreak, etc). I've had client crashes in games that are single player and i find it's the install, not done right. so there are a great many things :) I wish you the best, and I want to say do not rely on "PING" but use it along with other information you can find like your ethernet monitoring etc to make sure what your issues are. :) Best of luck in the fog out there!
-
I understand you have an issue. but if you want to add it in just because you and some others have the issue just use the damn perk. oh soooo sorry that you have to adjust till something gets fixed but not everyone has that issue. If it was 100% across the board I'd say it'd be found much faster but right now it isn't. use the perk and learn to adjust. don't be a boring killer (same goes for survivors) these meta perks are great but when you face them all the time or a good amount of time it gets boring.

People complain about tbagging so the devs are testing peoples opinion on if they think tbagging is actually unfair.
Tbagging is not "unfair" it is more an attempt to taunt or demoralize someone and then feel good about yourself. I laugh especially when they do it too long and get downed and get hooked... had someone not paying attention and i downed her (character, not player didn't know if player was a he or a she) at the exit, I got to pick them up and hook them.... they cried "you're a dick!!! you should have let me go, i was at the exit!" I told them "you should have left instead of trying to taunt me there, I got you and I don't have to do anything you expect I'm supposed to kill you in game." they cried more and I laughed.
the short of it is, it's hilarious when people think it does more to hurt people.. lol it is not unfun really... just stupid to do it for that. I mean there are ways to use it to be nice, to show someone something... instances of "good" tbagging, 1-3 dips in recognition of a good play or a thank you to another survivor, another possibility is to stand on the hatch and dip several times so the person on the hook can see where the hatch is. things like that....

I wish people would not rely on one ping test or a ping test every so often. to use the internet you go through a minimum of generally 4 or more routers. and if you only check your connection to your IP you don't rule anything but that connection out. plus even if the connection to an intermediary router wavered enough to disconnect you, it might be back up by the time you do a ping check. this is the problem that many people including IT professionals default to until they start looking at the issue.
If you get dropped and your friends don't that means something may have just dipped low enough for any router to drop your signal but you reconnect again and thus it's back up. even monitoring your ethernet connection is not always going to show you the problems. Also program instability on your system is not always dbd related either, it could easily be something else causing the computer to drop programs like dbd because it is a heavy resource. There are lots of posibilities that even the devs can not fix. If you find you're starting to be dc'd a good deal then take a break, fix a meal or something. come back to it either later or the next day.
I personally have had two dc's that I did not do myself (yes I've done it once or twice but usualy if i get to the point i do that, i realize i'm getting pissy and I will take a break from the game to cool down). and this is all since they instituted the penalties. how can my client be more stable than someone else's? dunno have to look into their client installation, other programs running etc. so you can't compare the two but you can draw a conclusion that if 1000's of people are not having client crashes every few minutes the issue is local and not a design or dev issue.

You can always go play something else, like Civ
They probably thought they'd be able to fix this very fast and then decided it was taking too long so they posted the down time. the fact they posted it relatively quick that's a good thing. and you are right you can go play any other game you have for the time being.

I disagree. I believe that someone posting an opinion on something, and the first comment disagreeing with them gets 60 upvotes is very much tearing an individual down. If that same person is easily "triggered" he might jump on that fact and you get the us versus them fight in the comment section, as usual.
Let's say I have a bunch of bots to upvote me. Let's say I make a really dumb, controversial topic like "All killers should have insta-down as base M1 hit." I use the bots to give myself 100 upvotes. What do you think the people who play survivor would do? Exactly, I just triggered a huge portion of the community, just for my personal laughs. I hope you can see what I meant from this viewpoint.
I was one of the ones affected by these down vote bots. because I posted my opinion about a topic, I also put proof of my opinions in the messages that was actually contrary to the line of thought and proved it wrong. Suddenly there was a mass of down votes. I didn't give a damn about them I laughed when it happened. suddenly I didn't see them anymore so I asked I think it might have been peanits (could have been another mod) and they told me the same thing. I said cool! but I went on. the idea is GREAT to have an up or a down vote option but more often where the down vote is it is used to try to demoralize people to stop them from posting their opinion (right or wrong). the upvote is just ignored unless people like what is being said. can it be abused as well? yes it can but generally people don't worry about it.
the general populace will be very long at replying to something they like but very quick to oppose (down vote) or argue a point they feel is wrong. this is the same about "reviews" of products, it gets positive reviews but more people will just end up with more negative because of this fact.

I was thinking largely of the killer using a VPN, but you make a good point about SWF. But if the ping differential is too much the person with high ping is going to struggle anyway.
I have a friend from Russia who tried to play with us. His game was lagged to the point that he wasn't able to play anyhow. Just teleported all over. It didn't benefit him, us, or the killer.
true in some areas that is true. I regularly play with people from poland, romania, sweeden, england and other countries. but they are fairly stable. I have seen survivors that are vpning in and they are ghosting where the killer sees them in one spot, swings and suddenly they are 10-20 meters away. This idea of "PING" that everyone is looked at is artificially done and not accurate at all the name was used to bring the idea of how sonar works. sonar sends a pulse (ping sends out 4 packets) the pulse reaches the destination and reflects back to the sender and that gives a response of where something is, but if that something is movig it's not very accurate. (the 4 packets return and a time is calculated how long they are returned and that is your "ping" but since your network is ever changing with latency increasing or decreasing one single ping is not accurate.
Though inaccurate it is what we have right now.... wish we could have something more accurate.
-
@SpicyTopRamen said:
What about a ping lock? Like, if your ping to the server is over 150-200, then you won't be able to queue unless:
1.) You are connected to your own server.
2.) You troubleshoot why your ping is so high.
I highly doubt that everyone from overseas is doing it intentionally. I've loaded into lobbies with 800+ ping before and the only thing I can think is that the game threw me onto a server that is not near me. Restarting the game fixed it. That being said, VPNs are used constantly in other games, so I'm sure there are people using them on DBD as well.
again the only thing that this idea will stop is people from joining with friends that are international. the ones intentionally doing this for advantage generally will use that VPN EVEN if there is no real reason to do so. The VPN will end up making the report of "PING" incorrect. also what will you do for those that get ping spikes (lag spikes) occasionally or have programs on the pc that are there to cause them (yes you can do that)?
-
@[Deleted User] said:
easy solution: ping indicator for the killer's ping to the survivors. so they know if it's a killer from china and if they should dodge it or not.
so VPNners won't find games easily anymore (which is the main reason why they're VPN'ing).
If they are from china, they are using a VPN to get out because of limitation blocks there. and your solution would show incorrect/false data to the survivors. Nothing will change with that because the survivors will see a green ping for the killer. Here is why: killer (or survivor) connects via VPN say from china (just put one location out there) and they use the VPN to go to Germany or other EU server area. Now they then connect to steam at this point and start the game up. Click play and then Ready. Now they get a lobby and since they are in the same country as the servers they have a Green ping. Please tell me how you will determine if they have a VPN from that data? you will not see the latency of their VPN connection because they are "originating" from that location where the server is.

######### me, you've obviously never spend any amount of time as a survivor. We get WAY less base blood points without perks in mind and we are going to live forever sucks. I mainly play survivor now but I use to play alot of killer and BBQ would be on every build of mine because not only are you almost guaranteed double bloodpoints (unlike we're gonna live forever because other teammates will take unhooks etc) but it gives you a great side bonus of seeing through walls after hooking someone temporarily which makes it alot easier to get the domino effect and get another down immediately after. We are going to live forever down right sucks.
I'll be honest, I'd have likely used BBQ and Chilli if it didn't have that bloodpoint bonus.
I've used We are going to live forever before but it still doesn't give you nearly as many bloodpoints as a killer. When I played killer I could easily afford to bring good addons every single match but now I'm a survivor (and I'm not terrible since I make it to rank 1 while playing casually) and I am conservative of the add-ons I bring, hell even before the change I was much more conservative of them then I was before. Ace of the hole has been ruined by this as the best part about it was sharing items with your teammates who now don't get to keep the add-ons you give them. Its as simple as that. I've went against killers that have got 0 kills but they still get more points and thus base bloodpoints than a survivor and guess what, that isn't rare at all. It just takes a little bit of perspective and playing on both sides to realise how many more bloodpoints you earn as a killer and thus how much easier it is to keep good addons and use green add-ons every single game.
I will answer you, because he isn't worth answering before. of my 2000 hours i've spent maybe 800 as killer and the rest as survivor. I have made it to rank 5 before I stopped trying and let rank resets take me to where my actual skill level is yellow/green ranks. if I face someone rank 1-6 I generally get 5-8K blood points unless i'm with a group of much better survivors. If I am facing someone close to my skill rank I end up with 10-20K as survivor I usually don't survive if i'm facing a rank 1-10 killer. My killer matches I get in general 8-32K, depending on the skill level of the survivors I face. If they are high rank I barely get to chase anyone thus i get 8K, and when I face people below my skill level i can get upwards of 20-32K easily. when facing survivors equal to my skill level I get 12-18K blood points.
I agree the "FUN" of giving your crap away is destroyed but they have not DESTROYED ace in the hole what so ever. They made ACE in the Hole more than a niche perk that when you wanted to screw with the chests to something you use to keep your stuff. so if you want to give someone something they need to equip ace in the hole. Apparently MY experience in this game is way different than yours in that I will do things differently and look at it differently. I started playing killer and thought oh why do I not keep my add ons when I kept my add ons as survivor! I was confused then friends set me right on that and I thought this isn't fair but I guess I can see that. now I like the fact that if I use something up I will still keep the item if I get out. I was told that in the initial release of the game (first 1/2 year to year) it was a reward as you didn't survive all that often. So that made sense, and when I kept playing and surviving I enjoyed having my add ons still and everything. When they said they were changing things to bring it more in line with killer I was hey great, I just have to not care about the add ons but i keep the items when they get used up! SWEET! This is the difference between me and you (and the other ones), I look at it from a balance perspective. Survivors had it great for almost 4 full years now things are changing and they get a taste of what Killers have had for years.
Still killers only have one way to protect their add ons, survivors have two. The second is functionality of a perk that killers don't have, yet WGLF doesn't have a second functionality of a perk that killers do have. I still think something should be added to WGLF to balance with BBQ, and I've admitted this in every post about this but no one has even seen that because unlike your response everyone else "read between the lines" and I was the bad guy when people didn't even READ the lines I posted and see that I agree that WGLF is something that needs a bit of an addition to. survivor privilege is definitely in play here.
