You all are funny thinking that DS is a balanced perk. it is not. They did make the stun 3 seconds, enduring countered that so they increased the stun and then nerfed enduring to not do anything more with that stun. like it was said. i've seen people get off of hooks, stay injured and work on gens, when the killer patrols back they loudly get into a locker and the killer comes, grabs the locker and ds triggers. I have seen this happen to streamers who didn't tunnel, didn't even go back to the hook after the unhook, kept hooking other people and everything. DS needs a down side, and the timer is not a downside. not at 1 minute for rank 3. I have literally hooked three other people and still gotten ds'd that's three other people that had not been hooked before and then the DS hit me. why? because I was too efficient as a killer that time. I've seen people that are rank 8 using it to bully the lower level killers with it.... locker play should shut ds down. generator work should shut ds down. totem cleanse shut ds down. vaulting a window or pallet, should NOT shut DS down. the key is, if you jump on an objective or in a locker ds should not trigger. If i think someone has ds and they jump in a locker i'll drop a bear trap down infront of it and leave it be but that's if i'm playing trapper.

Yeah, I get that you guys are likely gonna suggest playing around it...but even as a fairly savvy survivor...it ain't happening. I can run the killer, pallet stun them, and still get tunneled if they choose to play that way. It is very tiresome. Why isn't there a penalty for this type of play? There really should be. I refuse to do it intentionally as killer, I see no reason to. Toxicity is a real problem. It's more than just what people say in post game, it's also HOW people play, and I'm getting fairly sick of it. I enjoy this game, but I hate the people for this reason. There's just nothing I can do. BHVR needs to step in and penalize these scummy folk.
tunneling is NOT a killer chasing one person all the time, tunneling is when a killer chases a person that was just unhooked. if you think being chased the whole game is tunneling, then you need to get your ideas looked at I'm tired of the changing definitions of tunneling.

Well, it wasn't really necessary to have Tru3 show that. Anyone who played survivor on Yamaoka Estate (Spirit map, not Oni's), knows there are NO goddamn pallets there.
I mean, I can't be the only one who finds a pallet every 60 minutes of chase, on that map, everytime I get the unluck of playing there. Oppure si?
hmmm i've seen plenty of pallets on yamaoka estate and sanctum of wrath. you just have to know where they might be. you may be in a dead zone sure but they are there.

Well if the devs actually designed their maps, it would lessen the RNG in the game
Like the game would be better due to a learning curve attached to the maps
Also would allow more insight into the flaws in the game and allow the RNG to be centered around what the design was
if the devs designed the map then we would have no slight variations of the map. the Devs build a frame work for the map and the rng fills the framework in with tiles and the orientation of said tiles. this allows for different looks of the maps and no one can specifically know each level so well. This is honestly a great way to make things work better.

thing is the longer you wait for a match, the system opens up the window for whom you will be matched against. this is for both survivors and killers. you will never know that it did this or when it does it. so you might queue up fairly quickly, but then you get a lobby of purple and red rank, it's possible that those survivors had been waiting a while.
this is how it has done it since the beginning.

Before EGC you can just open the gates and hold the game hostage. Now you 99% it and hold it hostage.
but the killer can open a gate even if it's 99'd. so they can't hold the game hostage

you can remove cross play yourself. at the main menu go into settings and there is a box that allows crossplay, uncheck it (or if it disallows crossplay check it)... read the option and the right way will be obvious. i believe it's an "allow crossplay" if it is checked.

All depends on the perspective, like i said nitpicking.
Your definition did not fit, because these things you just mentioned to be exploits are not "a software tool designed to take advantage of a flaw in a computer system" a game isn't even a computer system, its a program or application. There is a huge difference.
But our discussion is not goal oriented right now, i mean if you really want to we could talk about that in private on discord or something. But i guess writing in this post has not much to do with the topic at hand.
then you have the narrowest outlook that you can not understandably expand the definition and yet remain within the definition. so fine, i will give you one that is an expansion but more along the lines of what you want. "In video games, an exploit is the use of a bug or glitches, game system, rates, hit boxes, speed or level design etc. by a player to their advantage in a manner not intended by the game's designers." this still include using software programs as well. the DEVs have said they put things like this in just to make it a more dynamic environment. so if you can not see that this is one of those dynamic points like the hay bales on the combine. but I don't intend to argue any more because narrow outlooks never allow that their points are possibly wrong. I do allow that mine could be WRONG but when I have heard multiple devs ON STREAM say that instances like this is NOT an exploit.

The definition you were using only vaguely applies to hacks and it would need to be a external tool. So wouldn't really fit in this case either. I consider my definitions to be more fitting.
What we are doing is nitpicking anyway. I think be both know how it is, if you consider it a exploit or not is just your choice of words. I do agree that stuff like the barrels is pretty minor and will not result in negative consequences for the "exploiter" xD.
it is not an exploit, the definition you were using does not apply at all. the DEVS are the final word on this and they have ruled that instances like this is not an exploit. IF that is the case then the following are exploits: window tech, door tech, using dead hard through a killer (as deadhard causes you to loose collision for a time). other things that could be considered exploits: body blocking for short periods on either side.
true exploits have been called such and in at minimum 99 percent of the time cause a player to not be touchable at all or to far exceed the time to reach the area in question by the other side. such exploits: nurse's add on that was bugged and caused multiple increases to base movement instead of only the one. original legions' green and purple blades used together, survivors climbing on a rock that the killer could not get to, running under a hooked survivor in order to not be hit.

The definition of the Verb is :"make use of (a situation) in a way considered unfair or underhand." or "make full use of and derive benefit from (a resource)." So no not really.
@Zucker_Schock said:

Also definitions are : "Exploit means to take advantage of something (a person, situation, etc.) for one's own end, especially unethically or unjustifiably."
the use of exploit you both are taking here which is not the right way to use in the instance of a video game (computer system) . For instance both "definitions" are to take full advantage of and are "GOOD" definitions. you EXPLOIT a mine, or natural gas opertunity. or negatively lie "You exploit your workers to the point they are used up and not worht anything." more to the point, the definition I used is applipicable because it is talking about taking advantage of flaws or holes in the programming that prevent or cause you to excessively benefit from use of such.
The barrels can be used, but you can be hit, and you can be picked up there. it is not an extreme time sink to try and get up there to get you. If it was almost impossible or litterally impossible for the killer to get there in a timely manner then it would be considered an exploit. As has been said the DEVS have ruled instances like this are not exploits. an example comes to mind, the haybayles along the standard window on the combines on the farm matches. Killers COULD make it to it but it took them practice to do it but it was not an exploit. Also you do not break the in match rules to get there so again that shows what definition to be used to define EXPLOIT in this case.

Just speaking technically an exploit would be a lot of things. But i guess it depends from case to case. Anyway most of these things can be considered exploiting but tolerated exploiting. Its just a word after all, depends what you do with it.
For example the severity depends on how much time it costs to get there and how difficult it is to get there. Also if anyone can guess how to get somewhere.
There were some spots, where you could walk on-top of multiple objects, if you did hit just the right spot with the right angle. Killers who didn't know about that had no way of getting on top of that even if it would technically be possible for them to get up there.
Also some jumps can cost the Killer maybe a Minute to get there and when they finally do, the survivor can continue looping, and just because of that spot waste a huge amount of the Killers time. And the Killers time is 4 times as valuable as a Survivors time.
But since there isn't a jump ability in Dbd most spots aren't as crushing as they could be in other games.
"exploit" I think you are using that word wrong. "a software tool designed to take advantage of a flaw in a computer system, typically for malicious purposes such as installing malware." this is a definition we would use and this is accessible to both sides so no it is not an exploit.

With the new mmr were supposed to play to the best of our ability but everytime i slug for a 4k the 3rd survivor dcs so i get a 3k at most (if dc doesnt count as a kill)Idk why survivors still do this when the mmr system encourages us to play our best. Its pretty annoying.
they did not tell us what makes MMR go up or down, this is because they did not want people to game the system. honestly if dc does reduce their mmr it's even more of an exploit than before.

thats a thing, i wasn't lagging, besides, im running 400mbps or close to it since suddenlink won't let get my full speed
just because you have a good upload or download to some site, it's not the same as no lag while you are playing. there is much more that can happen and cause you to lag while you are playing. I have 1 gig up and down and I get very little lag but i've noticed it happening on some image intensive maps. ALSO the killer or survivor can be lagging (which ever you aren't) and cause the same thing...

what I was suggesting is that if you reach the bottom epilogue you could work backwards from the top. this has been proven incorrect, but in previous ones there was only one epilogue spot and it connected all routes of the tome level and you could work backwards from it.

All depends on how much people want the stuff in the rift. I personally don't care how long I need to wait since I know when I collect the rewards I'll shoot up to level 70.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1534239#Comment_1534239
I'd say a lot of people have that amount of playtime lol surprisingly this game seems to have one of the most committed fan bases in the world from what I've seen.
Sometimes people save up points on licensed chapters incase a license they love comes out.
Also it's extremely pleasing to look at lol
True... I was more saying if you want to get to level 70 using the fragments here, you need to do so before the rift closes, not much later when you want blood points :) we are talking the same thing as you are still suggesting they need to be used before the rift closes :) to some they're already at tier 70 because they play so often, or will be before even the next level comes out. :)
-
from the glave looking challenge go forward two, up one. that's your best bet. remember by then completing the others and NOT collecting the rewards you will not get the rift shards, so if you also want rift progress you will have to collect it all. good work.... I haven't touched tome two as i'd taken a few days off because i was tired of the matches I was getting.

Bit confused, how do i get access to the part highlighted in green? I thought maybe i had to just get to the end, but then i did and i still can't seem to access it.
well it would seem if you get the epilogue you'll get both so you can go backwards on the one in green.
Only problem I have for this is you won't get the rift shards for the rift! that's important too... so careful there but it is a wild idea!
-
some will do it, some will not... actually most will not. You won't be able to change the people that only want to play the "BEST" build.... personally I have fun with mine.... I do fairly well with non-meta builds.
-
The MMR idea and Rank idea is the same as it has been used or hoped to be used in DBD. when MMR is actively used PROPERLY then it is what determines matches. Rank is just a hey i can get this rank in X days. and when MMR is not used the rank is used, and reset to allow people to reset.
IF an MMR system is applied again we have to stop thinking hey look a rank 18 beat us! there are some rank 18's that have been inactive a time and so on and so forth... I don't know which is better. we just have been given a great deal of grief over the last few weeks with this system in place. It was removed with LITTLE fanfair. I would ask the following:
1) Why was it only posted by OFFICIAL sources in game? I had stopped playing the last few days because I was tired of being trounced. Since I hadn't logged in I didn't know it had been removed. and YES I looked at patch notes, and NEWS and other places. I don't trust people posting here in general for news like that.
2) Why was it abandoned? I know i have the feeling of why, but I'd like to hear from the DEVS directly why they were saying it was working as intended just earlier this week and then after a forum mod stated they were looking at it that they found out it was doing something wrong. It would go a long way to repairing the loss of faith in the devs because of this debacle.

"go apply to become one of Behavior's dev's and show them HOW it should be by re-working the game as you wish and show them how much better it would be"
Dont need to be a dev to do that, thats why we have forums like these, and discussions like these. But hey, thanks for supporting my plans. /s
"You just don't understand and you keep trying to EXCUSE selfish acts and saying you should be able to have them."
Not excusing them as they arent selfish. Just explaining the thoughts behind them and why DC's are pretty much neccesary as a way of exiting because there is a lack of forfeiting. As long as slug camping is a thing without a VANILLA way out, dc's will be a thing. Perks are not the answer to the abuse of vanilla mechanics. As long as vanilla mechanics will be abused, but not bannable, dc's in response to those mechanics will not be bannable.
"You are laughable. the reason the dc penalities were removed again is because of poor implementation with a way for people to GIVE others a disconnect penalty when they did not disconnect. this is called hacking, or EXPLOITING, with this they removed the hack or exploit in order to try and stop it from happening again"
Sure, then why is it still removed? Because last time I checked, its been over half a week and there have been 2 hotfixes to the game. Considering the penalty would be so important to matches, it would have been reimplemented as soon as possible. So no, considering all the evidence, there isnt really a reason to not have a penalty right now if it really mattered. But I guess that should be ignored because of the initial reason of removal?
"1) the builds are using in match functionality. you may not like it but it's possible that with constant influx of new things that people won't like other things."
Already put this in consideration, there are things I dont like in the game and things that are absolutely toxic no matter how you flip it. There are many problems in this game, especially certain combo's. Back in the day you had a lack of exhaustion, so you had machine gun sprints like sprintburst+lithe or sprintburst+balanced landing+lithe that were possible. Those builds were simply toxic because there was no way for the killer to ever catch up. Let alone that the cooldown was passive and not reliant on whether the survivor was running or not. When there is a lack of counterplay, or counterplay requires extremely specific circumstances to be countered, and the user knows that fully when entering a match, then its toxic. You could consider it even exploiting. Yet the amount of people claiming those specific builds are actually counterable or claiming they need those builds to win matches are too high. Even though you could slap an effect on those builds to no longer work complementary and they would still outperform most working builds. Just because they can be used in a match, doesnt mean they actually are fine.
"2) Disconnection is using out of match functionality (either by going to a menu outside of the match or causing the pc to disconnect either by software or physical acts) this is against the game's policy."
Actually, I'd conclude this is actually in match functionality. You can only access that menu inside a match and you can only leave the match within the game. Disconnecting through other means would be against game policy, but considering overheating computers, internet failures and power outages exists, this effectively is unmeasurable. Which, again, gives another reason as to why cumulative time penalties are not fair to place on a disconnect. So again, voting if done maliciously matters. If someone leaves in the middle of a vault, then its simply not done maliciously. Let alone that bad connections, thanks to vpn's, do exist, that also causes some people to disconnect out of their control. So again, I do not understand why you would vote it to be maliciously each time. Again, my point isnt that disconnecting shouldnt have a punishment, just that the current punishment keeps the game in a worse state than the lack of punishment. The punishment shouldnt be the default. Because more often than not, I see people disconnect at the weirdest times to actually disconnect. Even league of legends, a game with a (relatively) toxic community that also has a dc punishment, doesnt apply that punishment as soon as someone disconnects. Nor do they increase that punishment if they disconnect more than once within 72 hours. Because sometimes matchmaking ######### you over. They still punish you by not giving you any rewards, and if you were playing ranked, which again, this game is not, you lose ranked progression. DBD already has a base punishment that removes all bloodpoints earned and removes a pip. That alone is enough discouragement to not disconnect everytime you dont like the game for the vast majority of people. Having a dc penalty carry over through anything longer than 48 hours is simply ridiculous. Which, again, you're free to disagree with. But you cannot argue the dc penalty is fine as long as slug camping killers who try their hardest to make people eat a dc penalty is not a punishable offense.
"3) your toxic builds that you are arguing should let you disconnect at will may not be fun to play against but not everyone has them every match. I personally have only run into one forever freddy in the last month. what happened? I died quickly, and then i went on to another match and that was a rank 1 huntress I've seen and he was good. I hated the match up because I know I'm not in his level of capability so I wonder why I was matched to him. doesn't matter though I died again and moved on to more matches."
I agree, they dont happen every match. However, they happen often enough to be worse than the lack of penalties. The toxic builds I encounter at least once a day, the time I like to call Russian Hour(because, 99% of the time, the steam profile is russian, from a location I can only assume they would be required to use a VPN to even connect to the same server that I am connected to), almost every single killer you encounter is using a toxic build, with toxic measures. And without the dc penalty, I only tend to end up dc'ing to 1 of them per week. However, with the dc penalty in action, I literally cannot play that time of day, because every single match would be iri head huntress with the killer slugcamping. And you might think that Soul Guard and Unbreakable would help there, well, you're wrong. They just wait out the timer and hit you again. That's almost 2 hours long, with 12 matches total, at least 9 of those being slugged for 4 minutes. That is the norm with the punishment. Without the punishment, they refrain from using those builds because they know they would lose a survivor instantly and that bores them, so they tunnel instead. And at least tunneling has vanilla counterplay. Even if Stridor Spirit is practically impossible to counter.
"I think you need to reconsider if you really want to play this game and suggest playing something else if you are so triggered by people playing with the in match tools they are given and then you use out of match functionality to leave when you feel you are wronged."
Ah, so, you claim that the old machine gun sprints were fine to use? You claim that people running 4 old brand new parts was fine? Because they were playing by the rules and using tools they were given? Just because tools are in a game, doesnt mean they belong and using them makes you non-toxic. You could have a chainsaw in an operating room, that doesnt mean the surgeon can use the chainsaw and not be called a maniac. We are currently in a state where things are in a heavily grey area. Its extremely easy to claim they are using the tools, yet, exploiting gamebreaking combinations is bannable too. The old "forever mending legion" build is a great example of that too. Those were also simply tools that were working as intended at the time. But I am going to assume you're gonna use a different reasoning for that one because people got banned for it. Just because the devs are slow to work on certain things(I know they are going to address huntress soon, we just dont know when), doesnt mean its any less of an exploit. But if things like ebony mori iri head infantry belt huntress is just a tool that can be used, then so is disconnecting. And again, if it only happened as little as you claim it is, which it obviously isnt, then people wouldnt be disconnecting as much. And just because I dont like the community, especially not people who claim to know better just because its in the rules even though the devs themselves have endorsed it many times themselves whenever there was something wrong but they wouldnt fix it(dc penalties were removed against legion, they were removed when slugcamping became a thing, they are currently still removed because slugcamping started becoming a thing again, even though they were removed due to a hack earlier on). So if the devs endorse it on things that exist in the game that are essentially removing all the fun that they intended the game to have and made the game sour, then you can see why disconnects during Russian Hour skyrocket and no one is getting banned for doing so.
Besides, I could easily claim the same whenever there isnt a penalty in place. This isnt a competitive game. If disconnecting having an impactful penalty really mattered to you, I suggest playing an actual competitive game. DBD is intended to be more of a party thriller than a competitive game. Party games dont really do cumulative dc penalties.
"but you are also impacting 4 other players negatively for your selfishness. Either PLAY the game or DON'T but stop saying you should be able to dc willy nilly for any reason what so ever."
When 1 player is already negatively impacting a game to a point of being unplayable, a dc wont affect the other players negatively. But there are plenty of times where a DC positively impacted a game and only negatively impacted the person who negatively impacted the game. An example would be, again, a slug camping killer. Once the killer has the slug camp, they negatively impact 1 player immensely and often impact any other random player. DC'ing removes the feeling for saving from other random players, giving them a free focus on what to do, while also removing all the negative leverage the initial killer has. Which, would make your argument void as it positively impacts the game for 3 players. So you see, the game isnt as black and white as you claim it is. You play the game, or you dc when you cannot play the game. I'd say being slugged is incapability of playing the game. I'd say having a single survivor screwing over the entire team over and over again to a point where you might aswell be dead, but the killer refusing to kill you, is incapability of playing the game and would in fact be keeping the game hostage. As long as there are vanilla ways to make people incapable of playing the game, disconnecting isnt a negative impact by default.
And I am sure, by all your comments, that you think I dc plentiful. But no, I've dc'd twice this week. Once because I had to go anyway and miscalculated the length of a match, and once where I was slugcamped while playing with a 3man swf, and when I encountered them later they said they would have done the same and actually ended up escaping because I dc'd because they didnt need to worry about me anymore. I know when I am outmatched, and I endure boring builds all the same. I play many more games each week to a point where its not even 0.1% of my games that I end up disconnecting. The problem is, you're far too authoritarian on a party game and trying to make it have super strict black and white applications of the rules as if the game were competitive. It is not. Its an asymmetrical party thriller game. Even tournaments of this game are extremely hard to set up and they ban perks and offerings from being used because they are far too unbalanced in a tournament settign. That alone shows the rules cannot be without grey area's. And that alone shows that the dc penalty cannot be as strict as you want it to be. The negative impact that some players leave is minor, and the same players would have suicided on hook if they didnt dc. The dc I have been talking about is the only way out in a situation where you cannot suicide on hook. And I have seen you agree with that. The builds I have been describing often are non-existant when there is no dc penalty applied, but they are 10% of all the matches you can get on 1 day once there is. I would consider those builds exploits because they exploit the dc penalty system, and therefor I suggest the DC system to be voted for if done maliciously. Because its not black and white. You could add in a suicide option for when you're slugged, but even that would be a problem and people might aswell just disconnect. Another great option would simply be doing what they did for DBD Mobile and replace the disconnected person with an AI, because then it would remove the negative impact of a dc to other players. Which actually leads me to your final question:
"your argument now is invalid because it does one thing and that is breaks the rules of the game you agreed to! should you not be punished for that?"
No, because the game allows the opponent to remove the option to tap out and rewards the opponent for doing so. As long as that is in action, they cannot consider a disconnect to be an out of match functionality because it is part of the match. Its the only way to get out of a situation you cannot suicide from, and 4 minutes is simply too long of a time to wait to finally die and join another match. In some cases you could be halfway through another match in that same time. Since the situation of the game cannot allow the rules to apply black and white, it allows for the grey area to where a disconnect is usable without being punished for it. And you agree to this, just not to the extend that I do. Because like I said, the situations where even you would DC do not occur when there isnt a penalty in place. With the penalty in place, I've had 6 matches in a row where people were slug camping. Now, would you consider 30 minutes of being slug camped and being in matchmaking to be equalivant to playing dead by daylight? I dont think so. Yet also according to you, "they are using in match functionality" and thus not exploiting, even though in my opinion they are exploiting the existance of the dc penalty. And like I said, considering suicides when downed can be exploited easily too, I think the only legit way out of such a situation would be to disconnect and have the community say whether it was done maliciously or not. Giving everyone the risk of a penalty, but not the guarantee of one.
1) dc penalties were removed because someone found a way to apply the penalties to someone that did not disconnect. this is an intention exploitation of the penalties and thus they removed it to prevent people not deserving of the penalties to be denied to play. This is proven, and the same reason they were removed the first time. you didn't read the information, they did not remove them or deactivate them because they were no longer needed.
2) break the rules you are penalized. break the speed limit you get a ticket "penalized", rob a store you get put in jail ie: "penalized" same here! Per the rules if you disconnect through ANY MEANS other than sacrifice on the hook, this means a disconnect of ANY kind even out of your control is not allowed thus you deserve to be penalized per the rules. You accept these rules when you play, if you do not like them stop playing.
3) till the perks are changed (the application of another feature like "exhaustion") the perks are good to run, UNLESS the devs announce that there is an exploit and the use of an item is to be avoided or you will be banned. (see legions original builds with the two knives at the same time, see nurse's add on that was recently fixed to prevent a speed exploit) the reason being the rules allow the use of this.
4) Disconnect's are selfish, here is why: you do not like a killer, you dc. what about the other 3 people you could HELP, nope you don't care. this is defined as selfish. You do not LIKE anything the killer / survivors are doing then DC, again you are being selfish because you don't want to do something. this is why you are a joke, your attitude is selfish and keep disconnecting, I will report you as exploiting the game mechanics if you do dc when you're in a match. I don't care why, the devs will have to look at the data to verify if it was an intentional dc or not to be used as an exploit.
Enjoy your selfish life.

Wrong, Ebony Mori is toxic by design:
- it requires very little effort to pull off 1 hook, and the individual survivor gets severely punished without having any counter.
- even in a 1v4, having a free instakill is more game affecting than instaheals(and they removed instaheals because they were "too punishing for killers"). Using them, by default, knowing their impact but ignoring that for personal pleasure, is toxic. So the use of any Ebony Mori by default is toxic.
- Let alone that there is a perk that has the same effect as an Ebony Mori, and you have to get 1 extra hook to kill everyone and it can be removed from the game by any survivor at any moment of the game. Meaning there is a nerfed version of an offering, that requires a perk slot by its own and is a removable perk, that is balanced use. So in what universe is using an Ebony Mori not toxic? Non-toxic players do not use Ebony Mori, period. At best they use it to scare people when they are playing a weaker killer, but even then its just to keep survivors on edge.
I could continue on others, like iri head huntress. Any slug camp build is toxic. Those all exist. Yes, players are toxic, but its the toxic build that gives away toxic players. Non-toxic players do not, I repeat, DO NOT use toxic builds. I've never seen someone like Otz run Iri Head Ebony Mori Huntress when he plays Huntress, the only time I've seen him do things like that was to show people why he doesnt run it.
And ever heard of hyperbole? If you did read, then you would see that later on I state the following:
"And ofcourse, you have people who abuse the lack of dc time penalty to avoid matches vs killers they do not like. However, that percentage is far lower than the amount of people who abuse the dc time penalty to torture survivors as much as they can. As long as killers act more toxic with the dc penalty in place than survivors dodge matches by dc'ing early in the match, the dc penalty can never be implemented the way it is now."
Just like your "every other game since the penalty has been disabled, has someone disconnected on first down, regardless of the build? Last night, it happened 9 times, in 3 hours. 4 of which were with PIG, one of which was with Clown, and another with Wraith." Is hyperbole, because I play killer too, and I have only encountered 1 dc on the first down after playing 7 hours of killer, using a build that some people would find terrifying. In fact, the only reason I can think off that you could have that many in such a short time was being matched up against people of a much lower rank. Because guess what? That 1 dc I had was from a yellow rank while im a red rank killer.
Point being, the penalty being in place is worse for the game than the penalty not existing. Sure, the penalty being in place might be an improvement for killer only players, but as someone who enjoys both roles roughly equally, the punishment is much, MUCH worse for the game overall. I mean, what is 9 dc's over 3 hours vs 6 killers slug camping as many people as possible over the course of 2 hours?
Assuming the average matchtime being 10 minutes, meaning 18 matches, with 72 survivors and 9 survivors disconnecting is at most 12,5% of matches being from anywhere between ruined to okay(lets not forget the fact that 1 survivor alive can screw over an entire team, meaning they are better off dead early game anyway), while you have 12 matches, 6 of which ruining the game for at least 1/4th of the players. Thats at least 12,5% of matches being bad. And the 12,5% is assuming the killer only is able to slug camp 1 survivor over the entire game. All they need is an iri head huntress, billy or bubba to get a second slug quite quick. That leaves only 2 people left to do gens while the other 2 will be angry at the killer and the other 2 survivors for them being downed, even though the other 2 survivors cannot possibly pick them up. Now, thats 4 people in the game that are affected by 1 player, while a dc doesnt neccesarily impacts the other 4 people. So even with just 1 person slug camped with the killer trying to force a dc penalty on a survivor will have a bad impact on everyone no matter what and is common enough to be game breaking.
So yes, the dc penalty is worse than the lack of dc penalty. Even though the lack of dc penalty is bad, the current dc penalty is worse. That was the entire point. And if you refuse to read the rest before ignorantly responding to a comment of mine, just dont leave a comment at all, because that makes you part of the problem.
no DC penalty is bad period. For this game to have had such an outrage that DC penalties were applied so broadly because people WHILE broadcasting would litterally reach over and turn off their router, then back on quicker than the connections would detect, but that'd put the survivors in a good place for the killer to take advantage is worse than anything you can say. for the player to just pull their network cable, or just use a function that was meant for emergencies is bad enough but while streaming people would literately be proud of disconnecting and urge their teammates (SWF) to dc as well. Leaving one player versus a killer who will probably just hook them and accept the negative pip and the disconnects get rewarded for the negative pips (before it would reduce their rank, now it is even BETTER for a disconnect, with the MMR a disconnect is the best to reduce the score to stop facing people that would make them WORK for a win) and then penalized by removing up to 32K blood points (not hard to make up).
I am tired of people trying to make a disconnect to be a GOOD THING. if you want to play your own best games then get 5 people, set your rules (no moris, keys, what ever) and play a custom game only. if you play with others in a public match play the game. the following is my thoughts on the good reasons to disconnect... you will note nothing has a "choice in it"
1) physical IRL emergency, though you could also just get up and leave the pc running either way, if you need to help someone or you need to be at the hospital or appointment fine i won't argue but this should be once in a blue moon.
2) ISP network outage. this is completely out of your control (includes server drop)
3) Power outage. Generally out of your control
5) Computer/game crash (can't help it if computer crashes but if manually caused that's still an intentional dc)
6) Game breaking bug: survivor stuck in the geometry, survivor stuck in position, survivor ends up spectating the killer. any of these will require a dc, because even end game collapse will not end the game for over 2 hours.
anything else pretty much is intentional. This build is toxic! ok fine just find the killer and die on hook atleast you did this within the rules of the game, this killer is crappy... again find the killer and die on hook. I don't like this map. same thing.
Killers should have an option to surrender and leave match resulting in black pip for survivors with minimum 16K blood points and silver emblems. Killers get what points they have gotten and also get a black pip. bronze, maybe silver emblems. i'm tired of people saying disconnecting should be allowed for any damn reason.

MMR for individual killers was a bad idea. The basic skill for killers are the same across all the killers (yes nurse is the main exception). Looping, mind games, pathing, basic decision making, etc. are transferable across most killers. Its the same reasoning as asking for a character specific MMR for survivors because not all survivors have the same perks, etc. They're basically all the same with minor playstyle adjustments.
so with a survivor who can spot the trapper's traps is just as good against the wraith... or good against mikie = good against freddy??? or how about mikie and ghostface? the individual mmr is good but there should be a baseline killer mmr for specific actions that applies to each killer played not just that one killer but specific things each killer does differently is only attributed to that killer's number. so trapper and nurse have a base set of things that move each other's up and then say with nurse you get blink successes etc for that killer specifically.

Cool story bro, how are you getting these numbers because I put some serious grind since the rift started and I'm only like level 11 that's with most of the first part of the challenges done.. gave up last week and now put only a few hours a day if I play I barely went one level up yesterday playing 4/5 hours 😂 meanwhile apex I been finished their battle pass like a month ago or longer and it ends Tuesday.. fall out guys just came out I'm more than halfway through their battle pass playing casually with friends.. battle passes are not supposed to be like working a job fam this is terrible game design OR exactly what they wanted for people to throw money into it for their crappy charms just to get the few nice skins 🤷🏽♂️
you are not supposed to get to tier 70 right away. if you look at the 3 previous tomes (4 levels each) you will see how this works. they haven't changed how the fragments are set, 3 per standard challenge plust 5 per master challenge. I am at tier 11 and i'm almost done with level 1, i've got about 11 more fragments to go. when level 2 is released you'll get more, and when 3 is out you'll get more and same with 4. how am I getting the numbers? EXPERIENCE "BRO" .... that is how it was in the last two tomes. the first tome was a bit grindy more than the others because it was the first one. but if you think this level is supposed to get you to tier 70 then you didn't look at the release! it said level 2 released on day X, level 3 released on day Y and level 4 release on day Z. this will still be within the rift's time frame. now YOU do the calculations, or if you want, look for the whining posts for the last two tomes and you will see many people break it down and it turns out that the 4 tome levels give you about tier 61-62 just in shards alone, and your game experience should get you to 67 or 68 at minimum if not tier 70. it's just a numbers game. here you go though:
Master's challenge 5 shards ie 1/2 a tier.
Standard challenge: 3 shards ie 1/3 of a tier.
in game match exp normally caped at 600 exp per match.
first survivor game of the day +300 exp
first killer match of the day +300 exp
with that you put the math in and you find out where you will be.
-
I have completed the rift without buying anything before, and it's not hard. just play. if you get every challenge in one shot well sure you'll have to GRIND some but thing is you don't have to finish the rift before tome level 4 is out! I am feeling no pressure to complete it i even don't play more than an hour or two unless friends drag me in! You want to make a mountain out of a mole hill you will do it! but really the rift is easy for a casual player. the rift is open 70 days, and has 70 tiers. each tier needs 10 shards to complete. you play 3 games and you'll generally get 2 shards and some (600 exp is given if you play killer once and survivor once a day) and then you can get 500 or so exp each match that's 1600 right there. then toss one more match up 400 exp and blamo 2 shards. and in three matchest you could easily get 9 other shards or so by challenges that's 1 tier in 3 matches. now if your matches happen to take you a bit off course and you don't get a challenge, that just adds to what you get for doing them.
this is easy but if you only want to play survivor it will be hard and a huge grind. play killer it won't be that hard. hell i completed the last rift without completing all the challenges. make it hard if you will but just because you decide to play one way doesn't mean the devs have to cater to your every whim. they made it to challenge people to play killer or survivor if you were one or the other. This has benefits most don't care to think about. now if you don't want to do so that's fine but your choice is not a flaw in their vision on what to do. why should they just make it easy for you to get things without paying for them? why, they shouldn't at all. grow up and play the game your way but if your way doesn't match up with someone else's then just keep playing your way don't blame them for your own short sightedness.

I made a complete report with absolutely all the required information and they never responded to me again, I doubt that the devs are interested in anything other than selling skins
this is the problem, you can not expect them to respond to everyone and say oh you're problem is fixed when it is a one off happening. but that doesn't mean that they aren't looking at it because if for you it happens once in a blue moon (to coin the phrase) it is happening to others as well. This means they have made note of it and are working to fix it. things take ages to fix because it's not always a clear thing. And they might not even mention it in the patch notes but it's fixed. Take Mass Effect: Andromeda, there were numerous visual glitches and many hated them, but within the month they were fixed, without much of a word from the company. they fixed them even so, even after declaring that andromeda will get no more work. but they still FIXED them. What you say is just parroting what others claim and blame them for. Be realistic, you are not the only customer, and just because you don't hear back on one issue doesn't mean they aren't working on it. Go to Everquest, there was a bug introduced in the expansion of Omens of War. this bug persisted for another two expansions and suddenly it was fixed! no word, no nothing just fixed blammo.... and it was a game breaking bug that could cost you your progression in the expansion too! so YES it's a problem, but don't start saying they aren't doing anything because YOU don't see the fix in minutes or even days. it may take WEEKS to find out what happened looking at the data.

As long as people can grind (even it's effectively an endless grind with no end) to get the killers/survivors with shards which are obtained via play time, they will defend this, because they've been inculcated to think ######### F2P practices are normal. This makes sense if you're like under 25 and never knew anything else.
Story time, games used to come complete, well tested, and with all content. DLC was not a thing. Day 1 DLC was not a thing. F2P was not a thing. The golden age of gaming is long past. The MBA douchebags have ruined another industry. Children who don't know better feed the beast and the rest of us are stuck with the ######### show.
Frankly I usually avoid ######### like this, but, I didn't know it had F2P models and grind when I bought the game, and I bought all the DLC when I bought it in the anniversary sale. If anything, it's the deceptive marketing where you think you can, you know, get the perks you already paid for to use immediately, but yea this is an EA CoD bullshit bait and switch. If the progression were reasonable it would be more tolerable.
we also back then lived in a world that would play the hell out of a game that we paid 60 bucks for and keep the game till we couldn't play it anymore for what ever reason. Now days people grab a game, play it through once paying 60 bucks for it and then trade it in for 6 bucks or less for the company to place it up for 40 bucks. DLC's were made to keep games relavent far past their end. take the original Mechwarrior. it was a great game at the time... but in the end mechwarrior came out in 1993, and in 1995 a new game replaced it called mechwarrior 2, then that got an expansion called the ghost bear legacy, but that didn't keep it from being usurped by mechwarrior 2 mercenaries, and then mechwarrior 3 soon after that. it goes on and on. as new computers and consoles come out games get outmoded and people are now moving on. the DLC idea was perfect, the game is complete but things are still able to be done to make money thus you get the expansions, or the DLC. NOW a full expansion used to be as much as a new game, but required the original game, the DLC is less expensive and makes it more appealing for people to play.
DBD operates much like League of Legends, Smite and other vs games does and releases "DLC" or new content every so often to keep people interested. MMO's do the same but at a must longer period of time but they too charge for this DLC. it is part of the gamer life since the late 90's.
Speaking of DBD's F2P model, lets look at the Spark of Insanity DLC with the doc and feng. (we all know the map is there but you can still be on the map without owning it) If you buy feng with shards that's 9000, same with the doc that's 9000 shards. and it takes several level ups to get 9000 shards so the amount of time you put into the game to get those shards (18000 for both) does not equate to the 6.99 for the normal price for the dlc. you got a better deal and now can out those shards to better use and get more blood points in the shrine as you can get 150K, or 250K for 2000 shards in the shrine of secrets. or you can get a costume with them instead. Honestly you got the better deal than grinding for the expansion characters, i doubt that most people have made enough to get all non licensed content characters unless they have been playing since 2016 or played to devotion 7-10, I know I'm devotion 5 and I don't think i've made enough to buy all the non licensed characters via shards.

Yeah so wait 10 months for the next decisive strike like battlefront made people do lol.
i don't know.. i purchased one thing from there once but i own all the dlc's now so i don't pay attention to it. but it is a way to get the perk without paying for the dlc or the character thus the perk itself is not behind a pay wall only the ability to play as lori or mikie is.

The yellow mori has no hook requirement. Once the other 3 survivors have been killed or d/c you can mori the 4th guy. I've been Mori'd by someone using the yellow mori and never been hooked the entire game.
fair enough i am wrong and i thought it was part of it. i never use them and avoid them in the blood web generally thus why I just added that requirement to it.

Licensed DLC Characters are locked behind paywalls and this is fine since stronger alternatives are available through purchase with in game shards for killers and survivors themselves are essentially just skins. The real problem at play here is those characters perks. Decisive strike is a full 60 seconds of invulnerability for any survivor off of a hook, locked behind at least a 5 dollar paywall. Barbecue and Chili doubles the speed at which you can level up characters and is one of the best information perks in the game, locked behind at least a 5 dollar paywall. Save The Best For Last Demogorgen's best perk, locked behind at least a 5 dollar paywall. Surveillance a huge bonus for any Pyramid Head player, locked behind at least a 5 dollar paywall. Make your choice one of the best perk additions for the Wraith and Freddy, locked behind at least a 5 dollar paywall. Of course you can win without any of these perks but that's not the issue, no pay to win game lets you buy automatic wins, they let you buy advantages which these perks clearly are. Now you may say that the shrine of secrets is the answer to my problem but it is nothing but a faulty bandage on a gaping wound. Decisive Strike has shown up 11 times on the shrine, Barbecue and Chili has shown up 4 times, Save The Best For Last 10, Surveillance 4, Make Your Choice 5, and I wont go on to mention how some of the DLC perks from as old as Demogorgen haven't even been listed in the shrine yet. You ask players who do not wish to pay for killers or survivors they don't want to wait for an unlisted amount of time till their perks are purchasable with shards, this is the same thing Battlefront 2 did. Make players grind for months for the chance to get the more powerful tools while others can just pay to get it immediately. All perks should be purchasable for Iridescent Shards and shouldn't be locked behind a pay/wait wall.
also if you want Decisive strike without paying for the dlc or for the character, then get it for 2000 IRI shards in the shrine of secrets?? lol your post is idiotic because there are many that haven't paid for the dlc's that have these perks because of the shrine.

I just want to see a nice killing animation or use shroud of separation without impacting the gameplay in a negative way. Yellow mori is completely harmless version and do not dc please in loading screen because you know that yellow moris and shrouds are still possible to see. Don't be such selfish being and allow me to have a game after 15 minutes waiting in lobbies.
If they dc, they dc... I throw in the shroud of separation just to mess with the survivors and I get mori dc's... and laugh when they find out it was a shroud and they wasted their blood points. so just go with the flow, it is what it is unfortunately... personally I don't care if you mori me at all if I'm caught, i'm caught it's all the same I love moris, and enjoy watching them!

As long as a Survivor has been hooked once at all during the game, and you have a Green or Red Mori, you can mori them. It doesn't matter if you've hooked someone in-between, Say you hook Survivor 1, Hook Survivor 2 and 3, you can still Mori Survivor 1 at ANY time (except if you third hook them, because obviously then they're dead lol). You can Mori a person after 1 hook, or 2 hooks. But you don't have to Mori someone STRAIGHT after you hook them. Whether that be first or second hook.
If you want to Mori someone you can't 3 hook them, but you can Mori them anytime with a Green or Red Mori as long as they have been hooked ANYTIME during the match.
The Yellow Mori is a bit different as it just means you can Mori the last survivor, even if they haven't been hooked all game.
you left out the most important part of the yellow mori.... you still MUST have hooked that survivor. that is still part of it.

I remember that once I sent a ticket, after a few weeks they wrote to me (on July 20) that they were reviewing the ticket and they never answered me again 🙄
I've had the same response. but things take time to investigate. did you send your logs for that match time frame? did you send all the information you had on it? thing is without knowing more than a few words of an issue, they have to look at many things to determine where to look. They would need to see if others have had this issue, they would have to see if there was a server issue but they'd need the logs for that from the server and the player(s) as needed.
this game has thousands of people playing it and if thousands send a report of one thing or another it takes time to work through it. I've had communications from reports myself, and if it was an automated response that's one thing but if it's a personal response you can reply and they'll do their best to answer questions but that takes time.
for instance I recently ran into a spot where a door way was blocked on the yakamoka estate, so i got a bit of a recording, and submitted it for them. i gave them the tile number that it was on and everything I hoped they needed to make sure this doesn't happen again, I don't expect to hear that they fixed that till it comes out in a patch note if at all.

- Well, generally thats a given anyway.
- And DC'ing is people revolting against builds that shouldnt exist in the game most of the time. Its a lot easier for killers to be toxic than it is for survivors to be toxic in the first place. So having builds that skyrockets toxicity to levels that are unmatched are the same as a president using a loophole in the rules. That was the point. You ignored the point and brushed it aside.
- It was more of both. Why do you think they removed the dc penalty in the first place? They added it because people dc'ing went out of control at one point. But they didnt work on reasons why people DC'd. Again, the percentage of people dc'ing maliciously is lower than the percentage of killers trying their hardest to make people dc when a penalty is in place. A survivor dc'ing might make the game harder for fellow survivors and make it less fun for a killer, but suiciding on first hook has the exact same effect. Adding in a dc penalty wont fix that issue. However, killers know that suiciding on first hook is a thing and there are plenty of killers who refuse to hook people. Killers have been claiming that suiciding on first hook should get a similar penalty to a dc as its essentially the same. Yet the same people endorse the acts of killers who constantly slug survivors and say "its their choice". Let alone that you have players who are like "I bought the game, I am free to do whatever the game allows me to do", which is even worse than any type of DC in the game, yet its not bannable. So all in all, as long as there is no suicide option for survivors that arent on the hook, the DC penalty is worse for the game. You can claim whatever you want and try to rectify that statement, but you would either be just one of many severely ignorant and oblivious killer mains who have no idea what is happening on the opposing side, or you're simply wrong.
- You could always vote, I'd expect killer mains to always vote anyway. But there are many, many cases where I have seen someone dc and not blame them. Survivors can be punished by the mistakes of a killer, killers cannot be punished by the mistakes of a survivor. If anyone is constantly punished for the mistakes a killer makes, they are free to dc. As long as behaviour doesnt reward a solo survivor for the mistakes of a killer, DC's will be a thing. Because DC'ing is the only way we can revolt against it.
Essentially, in the game currently, you get punished as a survivor if the killer tunnels you. You get punished as a survivor if the killer camps you. You get punished as a survivor if the killer hooks you in a deadzone even though you werent close. You get punished as a survivor if you get slugged. Survivors are meant to buy their teammates as much time as possible, yet they get punished if they do buy time. That does not make sense. This is why people DC, because it punishes the killers who make mistakes harder than they already did. It punishes the killer while minimally punishing the survivor.
Lets give a very clear example: I had a game where a killer camped me into second hookstage near a potential 3-gen, the survivors rushed all the other gens ofcourse because they couldnt save me for the time being. Afterwards, someone with BT came in to save me. The killer downed that person and then started chasing me again, downed me after waiting out the BT timer and then deadhooked me. So, I bought the entire team about 2 minutes time to finish generators while on the hook, after buying the team about 1 minute of being chased into a self-setting trap(which the killer didnt set himself, so it was literally pure RNG). I got chased the longest that game, I bought the most time that game, I was the reason that gens got fixed and I was the reason 3 people ended up escaping. Yet I got depipped with only 9k bloodpoints. I got punished for doing exactly what the game was designed to do. If he had slugged me and camped me, I would also have depipped with only 9k bloodpoints.
However, if I wasnt hooked and constantly chased, essentially the exact same set-up as being hooked and camped, I would have gained the same amount of bloodpoints, but I would have pipped. This is a problem in the design of the game. This is the loophole that allows many, MANY players to be labeled toxic, and essentially the loophole that allows the president to torture people and ordering them to not leave next to an exit door. I could have suicided on hook then and there, but no one really expects to be tunnelled after someone else has been downed right next to a hook. The only reason I didnt end up DC'ing was because at that point, it wouldnt be a punishment for the killer anymore. However, if he had slugged me instead of hooking me, I would have dc'd. DC'ing is a solution to a problem that the devs have refused to fix.
you seem like a GREAT developer then... go apply to become one of Behavior's dev's and show them HOW it should be by re-working the game as you wish and show them how much better it would be. You just don't understand and you keep trying to EXCUSE selfish acts and saying you should be able to have them. You are laughable. the reason the dc penalities were removed again is because of poor implementation with a way for people to GIVE others a disconnect penalty when they did not disconnect. this is called hacking, or EXPLOITING, with this they removed the hack or exploit in order to try and stop it from happening again. do you wish to be hacked? NO ONE DOES... do you wish to play a game? one where you can choose your build but say that other builds of your opponents are toxic? WHO ARE YOU to decide what is toxic for others? The difference between disconnection and your supposedly toxic builds are this
1) the builds are using in match functionality. you may not like it but it's possible that with constant influx of new things that people won't like other things.
2) Disconnection is using out of match functionality (either by going to a menu outside of the match or causing the pc to disconnect either by software or physical acts) this is against the game's policy.
3) your toxic builds that you are arguing should let you disconnect at will may not be fun to play against but not everyone has them every match. I personally have only run into one forever freddy in the last month. what happened? I died quickly, and then i went on to another match and that was a rank 1 huntress I've seen and he was good. I hated the match up because I know I'm not in his level of capability so I wonder why I was matched to him. doesn't matter though I died again and moved on to more matches.
My point is you are making it your life's mission to try and find away to circumvent the rules you yourself agreed to when you play the game each day and each match. Start living by the rules, and go on or don't that's up to you. If you feel you are special and should be allowed to break the rules of the game I put it to you that you don't want to play the game but more to let yourself become the idiot martyr of the game in all of this. I think you need to reconsider if you really want to play this game and suggest playing something else if you are so triggered by people playing with the in match tools they are given and then you use out of match functionality to leave when you feel you are wronged.
This is why dc penalties should exist, because you are not only loosing points and a pip (a reward actually IMHO) but you are also impacting 4 other players negatively for your selfishness. Either PLAY the game or DON'T but stop saying you should be able to dc willy nilly for any reason what so ever. Also you might think of it this way, if you are willing to accept your penalty for BREAKING the LAW of the game which you agree too then go ahead I don't care but i think the penalties are too light, because I'm tired of people like you deciding to make my game a ######### one by leaving using out of match functionality.
If you do not understand what in match functionality vs out of match functionality really is? then think of it this way. if you have to hit escape to bring up the main menu or some other menu that has no in match functionality then you are not using something in match thus your leave match function is an out of match function. I'll give you an example: in dead by daylight you get downed you go to being hooked you are offered in the game the chance to try to get off the hook but it might not work. but the command is there to do it. so is the struggle function offerened in the match. Now lets move to Call of Duty: you get downed but not killed just yet, there is a function that offeres you in the match to leave the match and give up by pressing and holding "C". now it's you're choice but again that is given to you without having to bring up a menu to get to that command which is taking you out of the match functionality.
your argument now is invalid because it does one thing and that is breaks the rules of the game you agreed to! should you not be punished for that?

I am the same, as I've been on development teams, learned programming and I know how hard it is for ONE PERSON to keep code in manageable sections that makes it easy to work with. I know many will blame every little thing on the devs and bad code when it's an obvious thing that is called latency that is hard to fix via code.
Now I will say there is one thing that has been bugging me and that is this new MMR system. I'm supposed to believe it exists when I know I'm not as good as this game apparently thinks I am against killers because i keep being placed as a survivor against TOP TIER players. I was just placed against Coconuts (can't remember the spelling) but it was obvious he was better than us, we got one gen done and then he had us but let us reset litterally going to the other side of the map to do this. NOW how can i be that good against huntress? I might win some matches but i'm not so good to think that I'm going to be his bit of good as a survivor! to this with the hidden MMR rating, I will say this points to a few things
1) that mmr is something that is the dev's want to have going on.
2) the DEVs have said it's been watching in the background so that supposedly it was ready to go when it was implemented supposedly a couple of weeks ago.
3) since then my matches have either been killers decimate the survivors or the survivors bully the killer.
4) these facts lead me to believe that matchmaking does not exist and it's just throwing people together willy nilly. the quote i have memorized is "MMR has shown that it is VERY good at predicting the outcomes of 90% of the matches" well i am sure it can predict that the killer can certainly decimate the survivors because they are that much better or the survivors will bully the killer for the same reason and this DOES match the statement. The realization is that MMR is not really making match making decisions.
5) I believe that MMR will take it's place to make match making is when the MMR is revealed so that we can see that the system at least is following a rules system for how it works. Keeping MMR hidden does nothing but sows distrust, causes new players to end up quitting because they never get to play a game where they feel they can learn and quit absorbing the loss of a single twenty dollars from their small bank account.
-
might i suggest you put this in the propper place for devs to take a look at this?? IE: Reporting Bugs? this is the best. also submit a ticket which can be gotten to via the support section in game. that way the devs know to look at it. posting here will delay it getting to the proper group to find out what is going on. posting here only tends to draw inaccurate and usually sarcastic remarks (not all here were that but some were). Now I really do mean submit a support ticket and/or post in the bug forum vice here, but the ticket is the quickest way to get them to look at this and see what happened.

I know you have problems but try to give it 2 weeks at most because some people didn't play this MMR system when it first came out & some still hasn't so the game might not know where to place them.
After a week or two then complain because what is considered high skill.
you know they did say that it was very good at predicting the outcome of 90% of the matches. Oh yes, it can predict that this killer will trounce the survivors in record time, or the survivors will bully the newbie killer because they have 1-2K+ hours in game

The thing is, no one would disconnect if there were no ubertoxic builds. I mean, im gonna dc once I notice an ebony mori iri huntress, and you cant give me any reason not to dc. Its a toxic build, its boring and a waste of time, because either you're gonna be out of the match within a minute, or you're going to be missing 2 team mates within 2 minutes. Either way, there is no real way to counter it and those people are toxic as #########=
So tell me, if the law stated you're not allowed to harm or disobey the president, but the president used that law to torture you and say you are not allowed to leave. Would you still remain in place, let your president torture you to near death even though the exit door is right behind you? Ofcourse not. The rules are void if people abuse a loophole in the rules.
Besides, I was right, again. The dc penalty is worse for the game than the lack of dc penalty. And there is a base penalty anyway: if you dc, you depip and gain 0 bloodpoints. So the devs removed it, again.(at least, my latest 3 dc's against ubertoxic killers havent given me a penalty)
And ofcourse, you have people who abuse the lack of dc time penalty to avoid matches vs killers they do not like. However, that percentage is far lower than the amount of people who abuse the dc time penalty to torture survivors as much as they can. As long as killers act more toxic with the dc penalty in place than survivors dodge matches by dc'ing early in the match, the dc penalty can never be implemented the way it is now.
Again, like I said, I believe people should be able to vote if a dc was done maliciously or not. That would hold way more accurate results. I would vote against someone who dc's against a doctor just cus, but I wouldnt vote against someone who dc'd against ebony mori iri huntress for example.
1) if you dc and accept that you'll get a penalty then I have no issues with you disconnecting.
2) if i were in a situation where the PRESIDENT was harming others, I'd either look for a way to move to another country or let others stand up and bring down the law or decide to revolt. that's up to them.
3) the penalty system was removed because they didn't get it fixed right and TRU was given a 3 day (72 hour) dc penalty for NOT DCING. this is called a HACK, not the dc penalty is bad for the system.
4) This is a game by a company, their rules. and voting if something was malicious or not, I will always vote that it is why? because it caused the rest of the people more issues than it solved. it's called being selfish. DC PENALTIES are a part of all VS games with FEW exceptions. this game without the disconnect option would be easy to make it so that the disconnects were either network issues or intentional. there would be less abuse of it since it's not there. Honestly, DC's need to be punished harder than they are currently because of the abuse. i've seen dc's today a great deal. sorry you don't agree but to me that means you are a selfish person for not playing when you queue up. just find a different game becuase if you disconnect for any reason outside of game breaking bugs it's for you, not the "TEAM" no matter if you are killer or survivor.
-
not just does it have the other features but you will always be wanting more blood points... why? because you'll use up items and add ons and offerings so you'll need to replenish them

I understand why you feel the way you do @Freki but the information only became available today with the analysis - that's why I communicated it when I did. So it was communicated as soon as possible, I actually communicated on here whilst I was still in a meeting about it - that's how quickly we communicated as soon as we were aware.
I can answer your question about SWF - it will try to match the average MMR of the SWF's to a killer in that MMR range.
As to how the MMR itself is worked out, I don't know if it will be revealed how this is done - we said in the recent Q&A about the MMR that we would possibly show a players MMR in the future but as to showing how it's worked out, I would think that's unlikely.
With regards to point 2 - I don't believe this is the case, that the Survivors will have an MMR with regards to the killers that they face - so the matchmaking will take place purely to try to put the players with the closest MMR together and within the same server location area, independent of what character the killer is playing, only that the MMR is within matchmaking range.
and I was not saying that the fact it was being looked at was being hidden but that there was no official comment after 4 days of it supposedly being put into it's role to make matches is the issue. if the devs are today holding a meeting about it, that means that the devs have already looked at the information and already determined there is a problem, this could have been done on day one of this if not day two. At this point that it was determined that there was a problem that is when it should have been announced by the devs. bringing everyone together to discuss what to do about it is past the time to have made the player base aware of it. unless unlike has been said that the devs do pay attention to the forums they haven't seen the backlash of the mmr system since it went into active use. I do not say you or the other mods have the ability to know about something unless the team brings you in on it and do not blame you what so ever for only stating it now. I blame this aspect on the devs themselves, as they could have said hey there is a problem with the mmr system please stand by.
about my swf thought average of mmr, this could be good or bad will have to know more on this later after it's fixed. I don't believe we will ever know how it is worked out, but the problem comes with that in how people work and play if some teams wanted to really mess with the survivors they just have to play badly on purpose since this is an automated system, and the survivors get out and their mmr goes up and theirs go down. same can be done in the reverse.
specifically about who will be matched to whom i'll give you an example. I play survivor in a swf and I end up getting good scores against billy and trapper... say scores of 80 and 90 respectively (numbers used for the example not actuall mmr values) now same swf ends badly against nurse and plague all the time, these are scores of 40 and 50. now I go into solo match making with these scores and there are the following killers available billy at 84, trapper at 94, nurse at 44 and plague at 54 all in the queue. (notice the difference between their mmr value and mine facing them is the exact same) How the heck does it decide who it sends me against? this is where the problem comes that people will possibly be facing the same killer over and over and over and over and over. this leads to boring interactions and not much else and people quitting because they can't get any variety to play. this is a problem and one that needs to be looked at as well by the dev team.
I do not say that the devs should come out and say how the numbers are arrived at, (unlike ranks which were straight up said in the wiki and the game itself) but that we should be able to see where we are so we can say "you know that was a great game, glad the mmr worked out!" or "how the heck did the baby dwight solo teammate get put on our experienced swf with such a high mmr?" or "why was that low/high MMR killer facing us high/low MMR SWF???" without the ability to gauge where we are in a game people end up just stopping playing the game. I've relegated myself to 1-3 games normally a day without being in a swf because i don't like the salt given to me as killer and my chances as a solo queue. you'd think they want to make me feel accomplished even if I fail in order to keep me playing and recommending the game to others. now accomplished does not mean that a trophy has to be given but more that I feel I was in a fair match and not out classed 100% of the match as i was this morning. first match of the day, first time playing trapper in over a week and i get 2 hooks. that's it.. TWO HOOKS. and then i'm called racial slurs and social slurs (a karen because i told the one that used a racial slur he/she was reported). I forced and I mean forced myself to play more so that i can get back on par with where i wanted to be. but it was almost that one game and on to FFXIV the rest of the day for me. what's the next step when i play just one game a day? one a week then none a week till the account is inactive and not been played in months because I didn't feel like I accomplished anything at all and I was stepped on by a highly skilled group.
-
The Dev's only stated it would be per killer. now the baseline is in my assumption 0. this is someone who has not played the killer or faced the killer. and it changes from there up or down. you can say it starts at 5 but essentially if all start there, that is effectively 0 but keeping the calculations all in the positives to make things easier. here is the problem though, it's hidden, and since it was working perfectly as it was said before and people are getting wacked match ups with 2 hour or less game time vs their 1000+ red rank hours. I'm skeptical MMR is even implemented and it's a smoke screen. but that is only my opinion on this and i hope it is resolved soon enough.

@Halun apologies if we're having a misunderstanding. It's not my way to copy/paste replies, hence I merged a lot of threads so that the answer was done once...I only update when I have more information or if I can explain something further. I try to communicate as much information as I possibly can, for the sake of clarity...it is difficult sometimes though if we just don't have the information available. For example like in this MMR issue - we just had the information on this today, it did only come out this week so data has to get analyzed etc, the first thing I did was communicate it here...all of us would do the same.
And don't worry, I didn't take your comment personally. We're all on the same page with this - we all play the same game after all.
you are correct, the failure here lies in the community managers and the devs for not communicating with the players AT ALL about this issue. the fact that you, a general forum mod would be the first to even let it come out and say that they are looking into this. Even Mclean on his own stream did not have it on his scroll on problems, fixes and pending fixes. This is why people like me who have staunchly defended the devs and mods on most things previously (if not all things) could not stand behind them when i could see it in my own matches.
This information should have been relayed to the players to inform them what is going on and would have stopped or stemmed the flood of MMR not working posts here (yes there would be some but there would be less and more people pointing to the post stating there is an issue). Also the silence has cause people to not believe that there is anything (me included) at all in the way of matchmaking and it's a convienent way of not having to say anything when people complain about it. I am a fairly experienced player but only an ok to fair killer and survivor, yet today I was facing people that out class me by leaps and bounds, making me want to quit playing. yet the devs constantly said "the MMR is accurately predicting the outcomes of most of the matches" now this statement doesn't say that it's an accurate match making tool, just that it can predict the outcome of the match... sure you put a player with 2 hours in game against people with 1000-2500 hours in game it is predictable that the person with 2 hours in game is going to loose! and this is how it feels that they are talking out the side of their mouths when speaking of the MMR.
With it being hidden, there is no way to know if what they say is true or baloney or even an out right lie. previously there was a defined set of parameters with a bit of wiggle room in matching +/- 6 ranks of the player and expanding the longer that it takes (this is ambiguous though) to get a match. even with SWF it's +/- 6 of the average of the swf in the matching. right now there is nothing about the mmr that tells us how it is making it's decision other than 1) it's hidden, and 2) it's based upon the killer itself. it does not speak of how it determines who gets matched to whom. how does it decide to send Player A to Killer Z but Player B to Killer G... I mean if a survivor is good against legion but sucks against nurse, is it going to prioritize legion matches for that survivor? or what? now what happens with SWF? no one knows this information and it can be given out in a way that does not give away it's calculations which have been the DEV's reasons to keep the MMR hidden.
So please understand why there is a great deal of animosity to this MMR system that is supposed to make things great again but at this point will it ever be accepted by the community even if it is revealed? probably not, at this point my thought is the community will not let MMR slide without knowing how it's calculated as well as how it is used in match making and the proof of said information is available.

MandyTalks stated they're looking into everything right now regarding it. We can only hope a fix comes soon, but I'm sorry your sister is having a hard time. I think the best thing is to just hold off on having her play until the MMR is fixed, or seeing if she can play with friends to be able to increase their chances of being able to enjoy the game more.
where was this stated? I haven't seen it in response to any of the threads i'm watching on this.

You can just link it in the main meat of the report by saying something like, "here's a link to a video showing my issue"
you can also tell them go to time code X. i've sent them a link to my stream VOD so they can see it telling them to go to time code 2 hours 15 minutes etc... it's best the smaller the clip it is but lots of ways you can do it

Gag order?
Nope, it's just that we'd be repeating the same thing over and over at this point and all of us have other things to do other than repeat ourselves!
then why has the community's outrage over their matches not been addressed? except by it is working perfectly and predicting match outcomes.... you're right MMR says low ranked players get to loose and high ranked players have no challenge. that's a GREAT answer right there and it is driving people away from the game. I've seen seasoned vets who play at minimum 10 matches a day get rank 20's that are 2-50 hours in game and they are rank 4 or better with 1000+ hours in game... how is that fair? TELL me how this is working? if someone is brand new in an MMR system they should never be ranked with anyone high ranked... ok example the rank 2 survivor i watched last night with almost 2500 hours in game and the killer with 2 hours in game , the survivor mmr for the demogorgon should be high say "10" since we have no idea what the mmr scales with, and the 2 hour killer should be MMR of "0" this should never be a match EVER.
I JUST got decimated by ranks 1-3 survivors and then yelled at be cause I used an ebony mori to accomplish my challenge. and they kept attacking me for no reason when i didn't attack them first. ######### this, if i keep getting matches like this i'm not playing or using the 4K auric cells i have! I mean sheesh i love playing as i only play sparingly because it gets me raging, but normally after not playing for 2 days i can go several matches but one damn match and the toxic red ranked community who think they are the best crap that don't stink made me pissed. my match.... over so quickly i got TWO hooks out of it... i'm a great killer? nope not at all and i don't claim to be i say i'm fair to ok as a killer...
THANKS MUCH DBD
-
challenge: finish the match before the last gen is complete using ruin, rank 16 not the best trapper, and i go against a red ranked squad. ######### bull craperoni.... this MMR system is not correct, i've seen players who are better than most get new rank 20 squads. you can't even say it's looking at played time as the match making as that's bs... i really think it is no longer matching at all and just throwing people together... how can people play and enjoy the salt of those that WIN thrown against someone outclassed. this is demoralizing and unfair. ######### hell.
-
match making is done by a super secret non-visible number called MMR. this is supposed to be something that matches your skill at the killer to the skill of players against the specific killer. The old rank system is no longer made. but you are seeing matches like this for what ever reason. I have my own personal theories, but I won't voice them here because they are unconfirmed.

I have great ping and don't use VPN. This problem is not related to lag.
Maybe don't assume stuff you know nothing about.
though they were off the mark about the vpn and ping they are correct it is about lag. say you have a 30 ms ping to the server and the survivor has a 60 ms ping. now that's 90 ms from you to the survivor and another 90 back. so in the 60 ms the survivor is moving, their machine is reporting the position, your machine says it got a down and sends that as well. Now the server says you got your down, and then updates the hit position of the survivor to you and it is in a different location than your system said. this is the very definition of lag or truly name Latency.
lag is always blamed incorrectly for many things but in the long run it happens to do what people are saying just not why they are saying that. Please do not jump down on someone and then make incorrect statements yourself.

I hope so. Maybe it is broken an thinks those are my mains lol I have not played any games with my mains since it started but I work all day and only play during the week from 5pm to 9:30pm eastern maybe Its the time im playing and some other variables. Those characters are level 50 but don't have all perks nor experience so i'll give it time. Now if I play with my Freddy or Hag and get potatoes all the time then I'll think it's broken and flip flopped.

I just flat out don't think it's working. I'll tell you about my experience with a few killers and you tell me what you think.
Pyramid Head, the killer I've been playing the most since his release and have been doing pretty well with honestly usually 3-4 kills and even against pretty good red squads I get 2 kills. Played about 20 games so far and they've been against potatoes. I really do feel bad but I stopped giving hatch to help speed up the process.
Clown, I've played a lot since the changes to his bottle throw slowdown so I'm sure I've gotten way more than enough games during the time frame but I still get potato teams as him as well.
Spirit, I haven't played her since the Rift had her challenges lol but back when i did player her... I mean it's Spirit lol so I had a lot of 4k games. With her despite not playing her in this supposed window I played her twice and got matched up with straight Red Ranks, so they ended up being fair despite not being "accurate," according to their description how it would work.
my thoughts are that they are saying it is and that's why they won't do anything about bad matches, and the original broken match making is still in place becuase they what it to be mmr but that's my thoughts and conspiracy theory.

As of now I don't believe it is seperate character to character. I am using about 6 or 7 of my worst/new killers and being matched exactly the same as my top 3. That is just my experience this week ofc I'm not saying I want to play survivors who just got the game but I am new to these characters I am not a Rank 1 with Them if that makes sense and even National champions get a warm up game at start of the year lol.
that is exactily what the devs have said. it is PER killer. not PER account. i can't say anything beyond that. I know it seems it's not working one bit either but that is what they say.

Sometimes if you are hitting the button TOO fast it might not see a response in the required time, or contrarily if too slow you miss a response time. there could be any number of issues happening, including network outage, your controller briefly disconnects from your xbox, ps4 or pc and then reconnects. there are more possibilities.
