I didn't watch the video. No real need to. We all know DCs are a problem. Mainly because they disabled the penalty again. I assume hes good if he isnt relying on this perks but unfortunately he makes up a minute fraction of Legion players.

and honestly you should you'll get a laugh out of this... in seconds and one hit it was down to a 1v1! (no op not a laugh at you, just the situation!)

I would simply prefer a "Special Que" for people who have a tendency to disconnect. Such Players would get routed there whenever they disconnect too often, and would only come back out of said Que after they play a minimum number of games where they do NOT disconnect. This Que, which may have long waits (or not depending) would be made up entirely of Survivors and Killers who... you guessed it.... DC all the time. I think a just solution is for such people to be stuck playing against the SAME kind of people.

This method is a type of punishment, and it offers a path to redemption too. You aren't banned but you sure as heck aren't going to be in the fast line, and chances are you will get the same treatment you inflicted on others. Learn to play the game to the end, get back in with the rest of us. Keep it up, stick with your own ilk.

and it will slow down survivors and killers who did not disconnect more than these people. so they would get to play and be rewarded while causing others to be penalized. again this is not a punishment it's a reward.

  • @Caz2018 said:

The problem is the 3 minute ban doesn't discourage it - I would prefer to see a different punishment, such as making them play their next game with no perks, add ons and/or items, perhaps scaling this up for successive DCs. Until the punishment is a real deterrant, the DCing will continue.

That isn't a punishment. honestly first dc should be 10 minutes, then 20 then an hour, then 4 hours then 8 hours i don't care what it should be account based with data on the servers that can not be manipulated. if you tell me well a reduction of blood points is a punishment, that's bull. people give up blood points to dc, why would they care they won't get many for x matches? and perkless? I've seen people doing blood webs with characters they are only trying to get teachables on and forget and go in with that character they say "welp! I forgot to switch off so looks like i'm playing perkless!" hell i've done this and well i did better because i wasn't thinking how to use my perks in the match i was just surviving and doing things. that isn't a penalty. IF you DC obviously you don't want to play so time outs are a perfect penalty, they can go do what ever for that time!

  • @DBD78 said:

Removing DC penalty is very strange. The game is so much worse now with all the DCs

Penalties were removed due to them being able to be hacked and give people who did not dc a penalty. and we aren't talking a single game that penalizes the wrong person but a specific person being given a 72 hour ban in a high profile way (since they are a fog whisperer and a high level streamer).

"You fail in every way imaginable, analytically, rhetorically, and more importantly... ethically."

If that were true, then you could point out how. Since you can't it's because I haven't. You haven't actually brought up any valid points whatsoever and then misconstrued everything I said. Can you even name an argument that didn't revolve around your attempt to get me banned? It's literally why the mods came in here. When the mods come in then everyone else feels safe to attack that same thing regardless of what was actually said. The whole thing was pretty underhanded and dirty.

"you aren't winning anyone over to your side. In fact, every time you post you dig yourself in a little deeper"

I'm just stating points and waiting for counterpoints. No one has yielded a single counterpoint. The entire conversation is me pointing out "hey, maybe people are DCing because ____" and then you and two random people saying "cheating is bad man". We're talking past each other and it's because you refuse to talk about anything substantial.

"every time you make a post advocating cheating"

I pointed out that there is a situation where a person DCing can benefit a person in the game and explained why that DC happens. You keep coming back to this because you're trying to get me banned. I know because I've had two mods talk to me, so I know you're the one that reported me. Twice. Why? Because you can't handle conversations apparently.

They HAVE brought up valid, just not valid in your books. you are advocating cheating, you are the one that the mods censured I certainly did not report the post. Stop blaming others for your issues. I have taken issue with your posts before and you have blown them off because you didn't like them. Disconnecting is cheating; why? if you do something against the rules then you are CHEATING. I don't care if the devs made a rule you ethically do not like but you can't say "If the killer walks sideways two inches then backwards four then runs forward 10 it's ok to dc" and then say well i don't advocate for people to dc, because you JUST DID! (yes that was not what you said but it was for an example) NOW here is the thing, if you break the rules, the End Users License Agreement you agree to EVERY TIME you log into the game allows those in charge to do what even is within the rules to you, and that includes removing your ability to play the game for a time or for good. THIS IS THEIR CHOICE not yours.

ALSO the underlying cause for the disconnects is not what you are saying it is, it is the fact that people decide (killer or survivor) they don't like something so they feel since they paid for it they can just up and quit. sure they can do so as the functionality is available to them, but they also MUST accept that they can be punished for it if behavior wants to do so. "I don't like playing freddy, I'll dc." "I don't like Ormond, I'll DC" I don't like blah, blah, blah. key is that they do not like it so they leave it. the only time that the leave match functionality is supposed to be used is when the game will not come to a natural conclusion (via sac/escape) so that you don't have to wait 2-3 hours for the match to be dropped by the server. It is not something to be used because the killer nodded at you, or slugged you, hit you on the hook, or that the survivors are tbaggin you, or played a map offering. none of these are reasons to use OUT OF MATCH FUNCTIONALITY.

This challenge I am finding is impossible to finish for one simple reason; My totems keep spawning out in the open, for everyone to see. Even running Undying - it doesn't help finishing this challenge. My Devour Hope keeps reseting or they just cleanse Undying and then DH - because the totem locations in this game are completely atrocious.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/TZ3CULL8TRPS/image.png

Though not to make this thread only to complain about how Hex perks are completely underpowered and unreliable. A better question would be; How did you actually finish this challenge?

I did it in one trial, hooked 5 people, downed two and mori'd one by using myers and a mori. you do not have to do it BY devour's powers, you just have to have the perk on and even if they get devour you can still get the challenge done. it's not too hard. anyone that can cause exposed status works fine, the issue is the death at your hand aspect. 5 hooks isn't all that bad.

If it’s early enough in the match, eat the stun. Survivors can only use each perk once.

I know that, but the point was made that "The devs will sensibly consider numbers whereby the perk is still useful on its own to trick survivors into healing, whilst also still considering potential stacking with other perks that could become too overbearing." that is what i was responding to, highlighting one of the issues with perk synergy on survivor side

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

The devs will sensibly consider numbers whereby the perk is still useful on its own to trick survivors into healing, whilst also still considering potential stacking with other perks that could become too overbearing.

sure consider DS + Unbreakable. either down and leave surv gets up or don't touch, 60 seconds of invulnerablity on a gen. not a good thing at all except for the survivor. it ensures 60 seconds of not being messed with what so ever and the ability to get up during that time if downed and left. but pop gets blocked by ruin if you want to use them together. I'm sure that's been considered. and sure there is NOTHING you are supposed to be doing while DS is active, then fine, if DS is active you can't interact with anything but a med kit or being healed by another. but honestly synergy in survivor perks is wanted, killers get no synergy at all. Killer perks are getting cool downs and the only cool down's survivors have now are sabo and exhaustion perks. (if i missed a perk its because i don't use it that often).

  • @TheeclumsyNinja said:

You dont need to be timed out for a dc, just make it so they moved at 95% speed next match, can only use 2 perks and lose a whole rank.

maybe not the first dc cause maybe its legit. But 2nd dc... and the speed penalty increase each consecutive dc each day

This is not a penalty. not in the slightest. You DC, you end up either giving the match to the killer OR you ruin the match for EVERYONE. You need a penalty that makes you "think" of what you did. I have come to see disconnects as an exploit because it uses out of match functionality to get a desired outcome in the match. be that robbing killers of points, hooks, challenge progress or even survivors for the same some may need unhooks for one reason or another, but by you dc'ing because you don't like the killer, or the map or what ever then that person can't get their stuff done.

Slugging will eventually kill the survivor, so no it's not taking the game hostage. It's in fact a valuable tool that the killer has at their disposal in order to put pressure on the survivors, it's a pretty necessary mechanic in a lot of circumstances.

DC'ing is quite simply ruining the game and refusing to take part in the game - hence that is the thing that's against our game rules.

I agree with you @MandyTalk , I really do. but there could be something like you see in CoD: MW where if you are downed you can "GIVE UP" by holding "C" now, this could be done for the KILLER, and it could be coded to give the survivors a "BLACK PIP" and since it's in the match it would not be against the rules. survivor would HAVE to be down to offer this, and it would give the killer the remaining hooks and a sac for that character. This would also be in match functionality thus not against the rules. it would leave the "leave match" which is out of match functionality for the actual issues like being stuck in the geometry as it is designed. :) Thank you for telling others the same think I tell them many times over.

The dev's think 150 ping is "good" i can confirm that even 100 ping makes the game so easy as killer.

I randomly got put on a server with 100 ping as huntress and there was zero effort hitting survivors with my hatchets. Just throw where the survivor is and they hit, even if they dodged and the axe clearly hit air.

hatchets have had a beach ball hit box. this is nothing new

Gens aren't cars. I don't mind new gen sounds but the car didn't sound good at all.

these gens could have been cars. they it is plausible that it was a car engine repurposed for a generator (not hard to do) having 6 different sounds for a gen even with that is not! if they stuck with one they would have been good but not really good over all.

If I understand correctly I talked about this: "...which is I hook them in under 30 seconds. You can't fix bad luck though...".

I also never stated that there shouldn't be a penalty (unless you mean other people's on this discussion?)

Tbh I think they need to address why people DC before they introduce stronger penalties. If you introduce strong penalties right away, people will just stop playing altogether in frustration. Hmm... Or maybe add in game penalties, like item restrictions? That wouldn't affect others too much.... I think

the whole bit I was responding and you quoted the last bit: "Stop camping or tunneling perhaps? That may be the easiest way to deal with it. I don't I've ever gotten DCs as a killer except in one case. Which is I hook them in under 30 seconds. Can't fix bad luck on their part though." my response was for the FIRST question "Stop Camping or Tunneling perhaps?" my response was the fact that we had just loaded in and i had a dc, and how could I camp that? how could I tunnel someone I didn't even see? the other comments was also in general to the sentiments against the post idea (let me DC). I also wanted to talk about that the penalties are too weak in general.

I agree there are things that need to be fixed but 80% of these things are not something the DEVS can fix. most are a change of attitude in the players. but without the devs starting to enforce the rules that change won't happen because people will take advantage of the situation because there is no enforcement. one way will be to remove the functionality to just disconnect. That won't STOP the disconencts but it'll make it harder for people to legitimize things when they have to keep reopening and shutting the program down as it takes time.

Just played a game now since I still have that challenge and got a group with no obsession. Getting pallet stunned did make that person an obsession. I can post a video for confirmation if you'd like?

no worries, it's more idle speculation. i'm done with the challenge now and I am not questioning you, there must have been something that didn't work right that match when it happened to me.

  • @ohheyitsbobcat said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1636823#Comment_1636823

I could be wrong but I think Nemesis does create an obsession after being stunned, even if there are no obsessions at first. They may have changed it since then but I used Nemesis a while back and there was no obsession but after being stunned it made one on said person so it should work fine for this challenge.

I did that once, no obsession, nemesis did not create an obsession after being pallet stunned. that was my experience and then I re-read it and it doesn't create the obsession just simply transfers it. I could be wrong and there was a bug or something at the time but it does say they become the obsession, i'll have to test it out again and see what happens.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1636748#Comment_1636748

for killing 10 obsessions just use a strong killer with nemesis, even throw on a mori if you want, it will allow you to get 4 obsession kills within a single match. personally i just hate the fact there is hardly any wraith or hag challenges considering its their tome

the obsession challenge, i used obsession perk and nemesis with mori in 2 matches got 6 obsession kills almost 7 now you can't rely on survivors having a perk to give an obsession and nemsis does not CREATE one. :) mikie though can have the add on to create one and doesn't need that obsession perk too.

  • @Leovanni said:

Stop camping or tunneling perhaps? That may be the easiest way to deal with it. I don't I've ever gotten DCs as a killer except in one case. Which is I hook them in under 30 seconds. Can't fix bad luck on their part though.

Reasons I've seen people leave as survivor: ebony mori, camping, tunneling (like true camping and tunneling), bad luck like mentioned above, and iridescent hatchet huntress. Never understood why on the last one.

Of the few times I've left, it's usually just because they brought an ebony mori and it's truly a waste of time to play against an ebony mori.

Would get way less DCs if you got awarded Blood points for being mori'd or at least didn't get depipped in any game where an ebony mori comes in.

I totally CAMPED someone when I get a DC the minute I find the first survivor. That's right, first survivor found (not seen just found) they dc... please tell me how I camped that survivor? or even tunneled them when I had not hooked a single person. then the next one to dc was the claudette that ran me quite well and I finally got them downed.... they dc'd right then. lol keep saying it's only because the killer is bad etc.

DC penalties should exist and they should escalate to complete game blocking by bhvr. I don't care how many hours you have in, 5 minutes is nothing. 10 minutes is nothing. should start maybe 5 minutes, then 10 minutes then 30 minutes, then 2 hours, then 6 hours, then up from there. this should be done on behavior's side and through steam so steam locks them out of playing thus no one can mess with it like hackers have done.

"suicide on hook" this is fine as it is using in match functionality.

I am tired of people saying they shouldn't exist, the penalties are needed, the rules in the game need to be enforced. at this point people are exploiting a feature designed to end games that would never end due to a bug or issue that occurred.

  • @MeltingPenguins said:

Instead of a penalty DCs should make the game easier for the remaining players: BP boost (unless people are in an sfw and one of them discos), faster gen times, lower TR and slight speedboost etc

It's perfectly code-able and it'd benefit the remaining players.

sure you can do all that and the killer gets a speed boost, and all gens get ruin that keeps working while survivors are on it. every dc gives a killer 3 hook states, points with that, the sac points and a bbq stack even if they don't run bbq.

  • @Mister_xD said:

there are still plenty of bugs around, but if we're being honest thats always been the case.

there is nothing that really makes the game "unplayable", you can still play and have fun, nothing really gamebreaking is going on atm.

    some bugs i personally noticed:

    • silent slugs are still a thing
    • at the top of the hills there is a rock that is really hard to walk over (you'll know what i mean when you encounter it)
    • people can still move freely while being hit by the Redeemer - they can even deadhard to avoid the chain AFTER getting hit (counts as a normal miss for the slinger), hard to time though
    • sometimes you cant perform the hooking action on a survivor, usually when you approach the hook from a wrong angle. can be fixed by dropping and picking them back up (probaply the biggest bug right now)
    • random error message as survivor after playing a game "lost connection to party", even though you were solo (still get all BP and stuff, so its just a minor inconvenience that you're back at the main menu)
    • ghostfaces reveal mechanic is still working absolutely perfect /s
    • apparently you cant use keys at times and instead get stuck in the jumping into hatch animation - or at the wrong spot get stuck inside the ground (havent seen it ingame yet, but i saw the latest 4Gamers video xD)

never had a "silent slug" and not because i haven't left survivors on the ground.

never encountered this rock on top of the hills

haven't had any encounters of this, but i rarely play deathslinger

seen hook bug, and can say it's an issue (and I've gotten off a shoulder or two because of it)

this is a network error that is not easy depends on your connection to steam and the dedicated server lobbies

gf does need a fix for his reveal, still think survivors should be able to micro reveal GF.

the key issue is usually when the hatch spawns too close to an object in game where the key would be used otherwise I have only SEEN it happen once.

  • I'm for it.... after today's antics i could barely get my hooks i needed for my challenge.... this exploit needs to be curtailed.

The original argument he was making was that the dc penalty is dumb because it is a rule that makes ppl not want to play the game and you're arguing with the sentiment, "if you don't like it, play something else". ...Really?

I can attest to the original argument as I used to play this game heavily. Like everyday i was on for hours and the DC penalties have cause me to leave. Now I play maybe one match a every two months, if that.

The DC penalty forces me to get bullied by salty slugging/ greedy 4k killers or toxic teabagging swfs. I wanna spend my free time having fun... not crawling on the ground doing literally nothing or getting BM (usually both). Sorry but I'm turning that off and playing Overwatch or Fallout 76. I'm not gonna participate in a game that rewards game hostage bully bs and punishes leaving a toxic situation.

    1) no one is saying you CAN NOT disconnect, just you have to accept that there is a consequence to your disconnect.

    2) the rule has been there long before the penalty, so that means you didn't give a damn about the rules in the first place.

    3) I am glad that you have decided to move on to something that better suits your disregard for the rules of the game as done by the Developers of this game.

    4) you are welcome to think what you will but I have never been BULLIED by anyone, even when slugged. sure it's not exciting game play but the amount of people I've actually seen do this can easily be counted even as streamers.

Rules, apparently you feel the rules do not apply to you. speeding gives you a penalty if you are caught by the police. not wearing your uniform to work gives you a penalty if you are required to wear some sort of uniform. If you ran your own company I bet you'd penalize those that break your company rules. If you do not like a rule AND by inference the penalty for breaking said rule, perhaps you should evaluate if that game is for you to play or not.

If you disconnect just accept the penalty or stop playing, there is no reason to complain about something so simple as "do not leave the match by any means other than being killed or exiting through a gate or hatch". if you get slugged fine you get slugged, after 4 minutes, you are dead. move on from that match to another. if you're being slugged perhaps there is a reason for that and you may be the reason (not not that i am saying you ARE as I know there are jerks out there but hell there are jerks all over the place and people disconnecting becuase they were downed first, found first, it's the killer they don't like, they think someone is cheating or any other silly little reason, beyond that you have a game breaking bug or something has happened and you needed to get out of there immediately (you had a panic attack or something), there is no reason for it. would you walk off the soccer or football field because you know you are facing someone that MIGHT have cheated? or is known for rough game play? and still expect to have a job after that and do you think those reasons would be accepted? doubtful.

what am I supposed to do? read your mind? it obviously is confusing as hell to your ownself I couldn't make heads or tails of it. "Oh did he mean all the trials are boring? oh I can't read that right, he's gotta be saying none of the trials are boring! wait I know he didn't mean that, must be some of the trials are boring? YES I read his mind right. now which of these three options should I have taken? I went by how I was taught ENGLISH in school. If there is no clarification go with the answer that best fits the statement AS is. "Trials are boring" the clarification that makes the MOST sense is "(ALL) Trials are boring" because if you meant less than ALL the trials you would have clarified how many of them are boring! I guess you did not go to that class in english? How about logic class.... oh yea logic would tell me different... but no it doesn't, logic says that this is about English not mathmatics so follow the rules of English.

So that's the road you're going down?

I mean, whatever helps validate your feelings, I suppose. I didn't specify either direction. I guess I made a bad judgement call assuming you would interpret it the most logical way possible.

"assuming you would interpret it the most logical way possible." I did make the most logical interpretation of the statement. you are the one that was not clear. also the word assuming is the mistake you made, but it's not that I would interpret it the most logical way possible, but you assumed I would know what you meant. I don't have to validate my feelings, I know what I said, and what you said, It was not I that was imprecise in what I said. stop trying to tell me HOW I AM FEELING ABOUT ANYTHING, you know nothing of me and I have told you specifically how I took your statement and you keep trying to make me the one that is in the wrong. I am sorry your feelings are hurt because I did not agree with how you wanted that statement to be taken but I am not your keeper.

I didn't say "all trials" get boring. So basically, you took my comment completely out of context and extracted something from it that was never said.

you also did not clarify either way so I had to take it as I read it. I did so. IF you do not like it BE SPECIFIC next time. In English omiting a qualifier does not mean that was meant or intended. "I took the courses to get a degree" implies that I took all the courses to get a degree. thus your omission had the word ALL implied. to make the above statement mean less than everything needed I just say "I took some of the courses to get a degree" means I did not take all the courses for the degree. now what remains as a question is did I get a degree there and if so where did I take the other courses. so your statement "The Trials are boring" does not imply SOME. if you had clarified that statement some how before I replied I'd have either agreed or disagreed with you but that statement in and of itself does imply ALL. ask anyone that teaches how would this statement be read as by a general reader "trials get boring" you will be told that it would be assumed all trials get boring instead of some of them get boring. you tried to trick me by being unclear, I have shown you that your statement was unclear and how it was taken, yet you are hurt and upset that I did not take it the way you intended it to be. This is the same argument people are trying to use about the "leave match" button that because it is there the devs intended for it to be used at any time by the players. How ever the DEVS have since clarified that was not the case. They were unclear and people are whining because they clarified their stance and instituted dc penalties. I how ever am agreeing with you that some of the trials can get very boring but i disagree that it warrants disconnecting.

No, the game is Dead by Daylight. The trials are rounds. Each round is not the same. We are not facing the same killer, with the same perks, with the same strategy, with the same team mates over and over again.

Trials vary. The game stays the same.

    Scream for me.

you're quote "I said trials get boring" if you had said "Some of (or a few of) the trials get boring" that would have had me agreeing with you that a few or some of the trials can be boring and thus logic would not have connected the same. your words in a forum are all I can go by, I can not read into what you meant to post. be specific if you want to have someone understand you completely. you will notice I respond by what you actually say not what you meant.

OOF, imagine misquoting me that hard.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1632791#Comment_1632791

You obviously don't know what a strawman is, or your reading compehension skills are flat out broken. YOU are intentionally misrepresenting peoples arguments as them hating the game (aka, a strawman - write it down, looks like you need the definition on hand for future correct usage). Nobody is DCing/dying on hook because they "hate" the game. People aren't playing a game they hate. They are leaving games because they don't like what they are currently forced to play against. Whether it be Iri Huntress or Hostage Doc (which is only bannable if done more than 20 minutes, but I've seen nobody ever get banned for it).

"I said trials get boring" the GAME is the TRIALS..... what other aspect of this game is not boring to you? the blood web? the store? this game is made up with "the trials" so how am I misquoting you? I took what you said and applied logic to your statement. LOGIC: If the game is made up of trials and they get boring, the game is boring. Personally there have been a FEW trials that have been very boring to me but it hasn't made me DC against it I still did it and I was the only one that got out of the trial by the exit gate as I finished the last gen just as the killer found the hatch. I was laughing. I DONT CARE, if the rules say it is not allowed to dc intentionally then I won't dc, I'll play it out. keep disconnecting, keep giving me blood points, I don't care but I will keep reporting each and every one that disconnects.

God you reach so much it's pathetic dude. Stop trying to draw conclusions cause you're twisting words and that's why I'm stopping this debate. You're pulling things out of your ass to push your narrative and you're constant "company always right, it's da rules, must obey" ass kissing is getting annoying. There are valid reasons people want to or need to disconnect. If the devs made a rule to say Hey no disconnecting, then they should remove the leave match button. The rule IS stupid. That doesn't mean I think the game itself is. You're reaching and the fact people are upvoting your comments just shows how dumb some of this community actually is.

"Its in the game so it's fair" Do you always just sit there and take it? Like seriously? You ARE allowed to not like things implemented in the game. If people don't complain about how bad things are, devs will never fix them and make the game better. I'm so happy keys and moris are being reworked cause they sucked. But people like you would probably flip ######### at people who complain about that too cause iTs In ThE gAmE.

The dc penalty as it stands is dumb. It just is. That's not a good or valid way to punish your players. Taking their ability away to play the game is a stupid design and it simply doesn't even work. People don't care. They'll log off or play another game. A COMPANY SHOULDN'T BE ENCOURAGING THAT. That's why it's dumb. You probably know nothing about business but that's a sure way to kill one.

Well here is a great fun game that you would have happen. I played freddy, got into a lobby after about 5-10 minutes wait and get in there.. find first person quickly (wasn't being stealthy), hit them, they try to juke me and I get lucky, anticipate their move and down. I go to pick up they dc. meh ok I move on next one I find because they were getting in a position to save the first when they disconnected. I knock them down and they dc. then suddenly it goes to match result entity displeased and I see the other two had dc'd... oh btw my perks were rank 1 fire up, no add ons, no offering (level 1 character). then in the chat they yelled at me "Get F'd! EXPECT DC's when you play freddy!" another said " HAH! de pip on stream sucker!!!" I replied to both.... "welcome to reports and I'm not live... btw I'm rank 17 and it won't depip me what so ever you red rank wimps." They were a swf from rank 1 to rank 3. they'd have destroyed me if they didn't dc as it stood they had reports on them, I had points for a less than 3 minute match. this is what you'd want them to allow, no you are the pathetic one I agreed to play by the rules and I do, you agreed to play by the rules and you won't what's worse? someone that follows the rules or someone that flaunts the rules just because there is an option to help players in emergency situations. You are the one that is pathetic because you want to make me the bad guy.

Actually - BHVR are the problem.

Seasoned players are getting matched with baby survivors who get 3-man slugged before the first gen is done is a game issue.

Things like Iri Head, which is the most broken add on in the game combined with Huntress' already broken hitbox, is a game issue.

I also can't blame anyone for killing themselves on hook if they run into a build like Hostage Doc or just a build full of slowdowns. It legitimately gets boring. I have literally gotten to the point where I have gone to the killer and begged for death; and I'm a killer main with likely more hours in this game than you've probably been alive, with your entitled attitude. It's ironic how you talk about people who DC as if they are entitled...when you're also acting entitled. People paid for the game, just like you. They aren't your slaves, and you aren't they're master. They owe you nothing. Climb down off your soap box, kiddo.

Again - BHVR is the problem. You shouldn't be penalizing people for disconnecting while the game is in the state it's in, both bug and balance-wise, and you should never be penalizing people for dying on hook when they aren't having fun beyond what they already get - rank loss.

    Period.

There is no version of this where you will ever be anything other than entitled.

if the game gets boring, stop playing. there is no reason to disconnect outside of the game not shutting down properly. you are in the group that is in the wrong and at fault for making the game even more unfun than the boring games you talked about. just move on and stop playing if you're that bored with the game.

Maybe instead of the struggling mechanic, we can have skill checks like pyramid heads cages, I like how those work.

problem with that is if you miss, it still takes you time to die, struggle and then stop and you die, honestly i don't care about the struggle mechanic why? you don't HAVE to rapidly spam the space bar in this, you just have to do it at a pace that matches what the game expects.

  • @MusicNerd_TC said:

The fact that players are defending the ability to suicide on hook and DC astounds me. "oOOoOOH, we shouldn't be punished for not wanting to play" Don't load into a match in the first place. If you're so entitled, that you think you should be able to leave a match or ######### on hook with no penalty, go play a different game, and make yourself a sandwich.

the only thing I disagree with what you are saying is the "suicide on hook" aspect. I do not like the idea that I may have to sit through a whole 2nd stage even if i'm not hitting space bar if I don't want to. the feature is in the game to try to get off the hook thus I have no issue with anyone doing it, and the struggle is there they can decide to struggle or not. forcing it just isn't fair TBH. The difference in this is that it is "in match functionality vs out of match functionality.

So last night, I was in a match and had no clue I was being streamed. I played normally and I thought I actually did pretty well, but after I died I saw they were a ttv killer and I usually check them for feedback. I go and see that this person is making fun of me while being chased and such, and I actually feel really bad about it. I don't know, I get that it's all in good fun, but sometimes seeing people commenting on how bad you are really gets in the way of how you play. Has anyone else had this happen? And is there any advice for a relatively new survivor (5-6 months)?

thing is how many times do you hear people talking about that crap killer that m1'd you instead of using the chainsaw or what ever? it doesn't matter if they are ttver or youtuber or what not. it doesn't matter what someone said about you while they were streaming, BUT! what you can do is look at the other side and learn from your mistakes that you see and get better. talk to the ttv'er if you want that's up to you, but realize that it's just people crap talking the game. I do it in Mass effect Andromeda while in the single player game! there is no need to get upset over it, just let it roll off your back :) you'll be fine and with the vod in hand learn what mistakes you made :) best of luck... but I do want to say: not all TTV'ers in this game always stream dbd. I am one and I stream single player or mmo's doing PVE content. :) come on by if you wish (Freki42) If I make fun of others it is in jest and for a giggle, but I know people may not be the best or even semi-best at something but it's for a laugh.

You keep missing my point and putting words in my mouth. I never said the game was dumb. That particular rule is. No game should lock people out of playing unless they were cheating. That's an idiotic design. And where TF did I say I make games? I don't do that for a living, I work in the medical field. People who do make games for a living should also be fixing their bugs on a quick and consistent basis. As a fan of pvp games, this game just has too many issues to be punishing people for leaving.

I don't see this going anywhere. You're missing my points and cocking and attitude so I'm just gonna agree to disagree and stop replying to you. Have a great time in the fog.

your comment "I'm saying it's stupid for a company to make a penalty that locks you out from playing for something as small as leaving a singular game. Its just dumb in design and execution" in a previous reply states you think the RULES are dumb in design and execution. this means by extension that you think the game is dumb. so stop playing if you disagree with the rules why play the game? if you can't abide by the fact there is a penalty, then why play the game? If you think that you OWN the game because you paid for it, realize that if you commit a rules and/or eula violation they CAN have your access removed even though you PAID for the the game. STEAM can remove your access at any time and can remove your whole game library at any time they feel you committed a transgression big enough to warrant banning your account. the only way you can claim to "OWN" the game is if 1) there is no interaction between you and the company beyond purchasing your game and 2) there is no online connection what so ever including registration upon installation.

AGAIN if you feel the rules are dumb and poorly executed, including the penalties for breaking said rules, you might want to re-think why you play this game. Your attitude in this thread is that you should be able to dc willy nilly and only suffer a minor blood point reduction for X days. well that's not enough. when people dc like that and continually dc they show they don't give a damn about their blood points. had a friend i was JUST PLAYING WITH that said "The only reason i'm not dc'ing on your ass is because I put up a bloody party streamer." this was in reference to a iri head huntress. we had a dc in that match on first iri head down. I didn't care, I got 12K multiplied by 3 in the end so I was happy. I didn't dc nor did i even contemplate it. I also how ever juked the huntress' hatchets a couple of times as well... I still had fun even with the "TOXIC, TRY HARD KILLER" even told the killer the build was a fairly "TOXIC" build but they did nothing wrong within the rules of the game.

Your condescending attitude needs to stop. Its not cute. Learn to debate like an adult or stop replying if you're going to act immature.

The dc penalty is the dumbest rule this game has. Most people should agree with this. A penalty that literally locks you out of playing the game? Unless you're cheating, that should never be a punishment. Other games, which I also play, hinder your xp gain. Dbd needs to do the same. Hinder your bloodpoint and level gain. People do also play for shards. But to make it so they can't play the game they payed for because they got sick of a killer camping and tunneling them is stupid and idiotic. Hence why this game encourages killers to play like trash and get rewarded. When the 1 player has more power than the other 4, that's a problem. I'm not going to argue if it's a rule or not anymore, I'm saying it's stupid for a company to make a penalty that locks you out from playing for something as small as leaving a singular game. Its just dumb in design and execution. The game has hundreds of bugs they need to fix first before even implementing a punishment for people dc'ing. I'm not going to wait a whole match in that stupid rock glitch or have half of my perks not work with the new chapter release.

I love how you say most people SHOULD agree with YOUR way of thinking, when clearly more people agree with the rules as stated by those that CREATED this game. people don't care about blood points, they will get them no matter what, reducing blood points for penalty is just like removing a pip for disconnecting... that's a REWARD! Follow the rules and you won't have an issue like this. this game is not about equality between players. if the killer was the exact same power level as the survivors no killer would even get more than 1 or 2 hooks. if you think this game is dumb STOP PLAYING, STOP trying to tell others how to play, and how you think it should be played. I'll let you in on a secret from a programer EVERY GAME has hundreds of bugs! and I'm being generous. YOU TRY writing a game with millions of lines of code, new things added in that have to interact with what is there and not have any bugs, I DARE you to even try as I know for a fact you would never get that game published let alone working because guess what? it'd take you YEARS just to ensure the initial bugs are worked out and sometimes years to fix new bugs. Please do us all a favor and if you really think this game is dumb STOP PLAYING why? you're life would be so much better! Still challenge anyone including you to tell me a PVP game that does not have rules at all and I tell you right now you won't find them.

  • mistakes can happen, the way you said it was not exactly clear so when you corrected what you said I understood better. no worries we are all human!

  • @theArashi said:

Devs clearly don't give a ######### about your issues looking at how often they disable that silly slap in the wrist kind of punishment OR MAYBE they finally noticed it doesn't do it's job.

The reason they have disabled it since implementing it is that some people have hacked in and found a way to give people who do NOT disconnect severe time penalties and can not play the game. so instead of make it so that the hackers can grief the players playing properly they remove those penalties and I support this, I just wish they'd disable the functionality.

I said the person has the right to play as they want to play. if they want to load in run to the killer and die every match its there dang right to do just that. if they want to hit esc and click leave match they have the right to do that as the leave match function is within the game. the game is a whole the match is just part of it. who cares if you are enjoying the game no one in this game cares about other peoples enjoyment that is clear enough. so deal with it and stop crying. I guess you could take your own advice if you don't like it " If you don't enjoy the game, then stop playing it"

actually by the RULES running intentionally into the killer is ALSO a punishable offense in the game. this is called not playing the game correctly and that is ALSO in the rules. This rule is a bit harder to enforce though unless the person disconnects.

then it shouldn't be within the games menus during match play. there is ways to get out of a game in an emergency if it should arise. good ole CTRL ALT Del so obviously I would have to say since its within the games menus during match play its viable. people will use that for that very function if its available.

there are two states of this game and they are "in game" which happens once you load in and then there is "IN MATCH" which happens once you are in the trial itself with 4 other players. If you hit the escape key (on the steam and microsoft store versions) you are leaving the "IN MATCH" functionality and moving back to the "IN GAME" functionality. By using the option to leave match there you are using out of match functionality which is not allowed by the rules. as @MandyTalk said it is there for emergencies, like when you get bugged and can't move the game won't kill you during EGC, you would have to wait till the server decides to disconnect you completely which takes about 2-3 hours. thus this is why the disconnect option was placed there. (originally it was for problems like stuck in the geometry where the killer can't touch you nor can you move or do anything or other such situations. It is not something that was supposed to be used just becuase you are facing a ghost face and you hate anyone that plays that killer because they are all toxic.

where as technically you are correct, even in those short distances Atmospheric Disturbances and Inversions can tank your signal. It is the nature of the beast. if you're curious, tune in an AM radio station on your car radio (a VERY STRONG SIGNAL/CLOSE one) and then go under an overpass and see how that affects your signal it'll fade even if only a little. A wired connection does not have an issue with that. HOW EVER you can still play online games on the wifi yes but realize that there may be some dips in performance, especially with intensive communication games like DBD.

Okay you need to stop writing novels cause it's getting annoying to read. Summarize. Being slugged for four minutes is four minutes too long. Its obnoxious and I'm not going to sit there and let a killer waste my time. Also it is a dumb rule. Forcing people to stay then banning them from playing when they don't is dumb. People who disconnect do care about bloodpoints. They just didn't care about that singular match. Everyone has a reason. I never get mad when someone dcs, never have in my 4 years of playing. I always think it sucks that they weren't having fun and hope the next round goes better for them. And here you go again. Thinking I should care more about strangers than myself and my own enjoyment that I paid for. No. I'm not. Stop trying to force your specific rules onto me. If you want strangers to care about you enough to not dc, invite randoms into a custom match :)

oh I am SO SORRY that I am making you think and understand what is going on. you are wrong, the rule is as the devs put it, if you think it's "DUMB" come up with a solution other than "<whiney voice> LET ME DC U CANT MAKE ME PLAY!" I can't you can dc all you want, but just realize the RULE is there, it is enforced, you get penalized for BREAKING IT. Please tell me of ANY GAME online that has no penalties or rules? none, all games have rules and penalties for breaking those rules. STEAM, Playstation, Xbox, Microsoft, everyone has rules and penalties if you break it. EVEN some older games have rules if you cheat at them (single player) where you get turned into a chicken or other such things.

"Being slugged for 4 minutes is 4 minutes too long" please tell me you as survivor stop and repair every generator you come across even while in chase, or cleanse any totem as you come across them? well that's what you are trying to FORCE others to do, PLAY YOUR WAY not their way. They paid for the game, they deserve to follow the rules and play the game. I guess you still haven't gone and read the rules I even linked. LOL! oh sorry for the 2 paragraph novel but I will not use 1337 (LEET) speak or abbreviate unnecessarily. That is how I was taught at school.

They need to focus on the bugs and balancing issues. But that will never happen, because they need to keep releasing DLCs to keep people active. It sucks, but is true. Optimization on all platforms need fixed, they need to fix hit validation, I can be behind the killer and they still make a hit, ect.

But I mostly just want D/C penalties fixed. I don't wanna wait 10 minutes for a game just for the killer/my teammates to D/C mid-game/in loading.

you don't wait 10 minutes because your teammates decide to dc, if you are waiting 10 minutes on a dc ban and you didn't dc but someone in your swf did, stop playing with them or tell them to stop. You have the choice of who and when you play with anyone.

  • @BabyDweetMain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1631043#Comment_1631043

That's the dumbest rule ever, no wonder they don't properly enforce it.

"Play our game no matter what. Even if you're not having fun. Even if it's completely stacked against you. Even if the killer is holding you hostage for a slug fest or to get that annoying 4k. If you don't play our game, we'll ban you from playing." The dc penalty is just another term for encouraging people to play other games.

Overwatch did it right. Leave a bunch of games in a row? -75% xp from your next 10 matches. They don't stop people from playing their game, they just hinder your leveling capability if you continuously leave matches.

it is not the dumbest rule ever. on the 17th I had three disconnects for NO REASON! they didn't like being downed or something I don't know what. they were crossplay from my steam. they didn't really see it as a problem till mid 2019 and late 2019 when it really became rampant where people would dc at the drop of a hat. and if people are dcing, do you think that -75% blood points is going to do anything, since if you DC you loose ALL YOUR BLOOD POINTS, do you think a negative to blood points would matter to these people that are constantly dc'ing? heck in 2019 i knew a STREAMER that was broadcasting litterally 10 times in ONE NIGHT with flimsy excuses to just dc. Honestly if you don't like the map, or killer, or something else you're LOOKING for an EASY game so go play Hello Kitty or something else stop RUINING other people's games and fun.

    1) killer can not hold you hostage unless they body block you into a corner while the rest of the team finishes the gens, opens the doors and starts EGC.

    2) if the killer slugs, there is no hostage of the game why? you will die in 4 minutes. MAX.

    3) YOU ARE NOT FORCED TO CONTINUE A GAME. if you don't like something you can get hooked, try to escape 3 times and not struggle bingo, you're out, no penalty, no report, no nothing because you used in match functions.

    4) other games have dc penalties because it ruins the experience of other players. Behavior thought that players would actually READ the rules and policies before playing and understand they could at anytime be held accountable for transgressions, and this is the only thing Behavior is guilty of in this.

DID YOU read the EULA? DID YOU READ the rules? I DID.... maybe not right away but I did review them because I don't take too many chances. IF YOU are not having fun, go else where and stop trying to enforce your specific rules on people that don't know you what so ever. If you're in a "custom match" you can set what ever extra rules you want.

Where is this written down? Ive never heard of that being a rule. Nor do they enforce it. And even if they did, people will just suicide on hook, so there's no point. If you want to punish dc'ers, let them dc. They lose any bloodpoints and depip. Punishment enough.

in the RULES of the game. I've done the research for this many times. You might want to go look and do a quick 5 minute max google search to find THIS from these VERY FORUMS: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system

and I quote: "Disconnects (leaving the match before killed or sacrificed)" the post lists do not report because there is now a "ban" automated system in effect, however the dc penalty system is not currently engaged. Also though not said here leaving via the exit gate or the hatch are not disconnects. You might want to bone up on the rules of this game (EULA and reportable offenses and the general rules of the game) if you aren't sure perhaps you are violating other things too!

If they don't want people disconnecting then they should remove the button to do so. Point blank period. People using something they put in the game isn't something they can or should get in trouble for.

the disconnect is for game breaking issues that happen very rarely (where the game will NEVER end) for instance getting stuck in the geometry will sometimes do this, sometimes it will let it end. Another time I've seen things happen is when the player ends up spectating the killer instead of a survivor without going to the score board. To get there as you well know you much LEAVE the match behind (you are still active but not moving or anything like that), by opening a menu that is out of the match functionality and click a button. you know it's out of match functionality because your mouse cursor is back and able to move. This is NOT supposed to be used because you did not like what map you got, what killer you got, what the killer does in game. If there is a problem with the killer then by all means use in match functionality to leave and REPORT the person for what ever they did and let the devs look at it and decide if that person broke the rules or not.

So NO there is no in match functionality that allows for players to disconnect, this means that any intentional disconnect is against the rules and thus should have penalties applied. They have said in the rules "to leave the match intentionally by any means other than the game "killing" your character or escaping the trial is not allowed." many times and it is written down. Thus penalties are there, unfortunately for those that play and have internet connections that won't always keep them in the match. the ones that intentionally disconnected have ruined it for these unfortunate people for the time being.

Hitting the queue button isn't a contract. I'm not agreeing to do anything.

Also why is the enjoyment of complete strangers more valuable than my own? Why lay on the ground for minutes because killers want to ruin people's day? Why be picked off right when the match started and Moried? If you want to bring something extremely op, uncounterable or scummy, I have the right to leave the game. And I don't see why that should be punishable.

Every time you load the game up you Reaffirm/agree to the EULA of the game, when you install it, you AGREE that you will abide by the rules of the game (the EULA is part of that). If you don't agree with their stance of Manually Disconnecting except in extreme emergency or case of a game not being able to complete via the normal End Game Collapse you should play something else. personally I want them to just remove the damn feature, but re-institute the time penalties to take affect the NEXT time you log into the game. why? because I'm tired of people using EXPLOITS to stop a killer from doing their part in the game because they didn't like things. OR conversely a killer disconnecting because they didn't like how things are. I don't care if you DC just acknowledge you broke the rules and deserve the penalty imposed and move on. stop making excuses for not getting an EASY game and play it. how ever if something is not to your liking I am not amiss to having a feature in the in match functionality to allow you to GIVE UP on either side, this awards between 1-3 hook states and a sacrifice to the killer if a survivor were to do that and if a killer does, then the survivor gets the escape and 1-5 generator repairs or something like that. I'm tired of this DC should be allowed because of toxic game play! have you ever thought that DCing is TOXIC unless you HAD TO DC? (game would not shut down through EGC naturally etc. BUT you all are the ones that have ruined it for the people that have bad internet connections. I started playing in 2018, disconnecting was a rare occurrence but it was there. in 2019 it was commonplace, now it is rampant.

I bought Dead by Daylight on July 1st, 2019. When I bought the game, I also bought the Halloween chapter, and the Ghostface dlc, because I love both, especially Ghostface. I was also really hyped to be able to play as Sydney Prescott. But Sydney isn't in dbd. And I am sad.

I doubt anything will come of it, but I really think the devs should add Sidney and Woodsboro. I kind of understand releasing Bubba as a killer-only dlc, and I also understand that it may not be possible to include Sidney/Woodsboro because of licencing and whatnot, but it's still sad that Ghostface is all alone in his dlc, when there could be more to go with him.

(also Sidney is best girl, cmm)

Behavior only licensed the mask, not the whole thing. that is why there is nothing more than the killer. later got permission for the original costuming.

Well, i did the challenge and 9 hooks were enough for me.

But you have to remember, there are things survivors can do that distract from your rating, for example if they heal up and stuff. If you let them heal up all the time, you might need more hooks, also if you get 9 hooks but all escape.

9 Hooks is a criteria, but its surly not the only one. But without at least 9 hooks you won´t get it.

there is a negative for devout if you are around the hook too much, but healing does not take from devout. Healing reduces the Malicious emblem.

  • currently the penalties have been removed as there are a group of people that are assigning penalties to people that don't even dc. I just had a match that 3 people dc'd on my (I was the killer). it prevented me from getting my hooks. i'd love it if a dc gave me 3 hook states (or the remaining of the 3 hook states of the player) for that one. and it would be as if they were hooked 3 times. I'm getting tired of this myself as both survivor and killer. I agree 5 minutes for the first, and 10 minutes for the second may be ok because there are legit times people get a dc and it's not intentional, but there is no way to know if it's intentional or not.

Its Funny because legion still exist and getting any iridescents is a cake walk you don't even need to win.

?? If you don't play a lot of killer then your rank is probably like 20 - 16, where even a newbie killer can get 4 golds. You to have to be playing with your bellybutton to not get good emblems at that rank.

my first match this morning was two silvers, one gold and one bronze, my next match was two iris and two gold, but no iri in devout. so i am not the best of either side, but for people that are you expect everyone to be able to do what you did without a problem.... think about it , 4K plus double pip and not an iri in devout. anyways it may be easy to you but not to everyone.

I play both killer and survivor and it's not really that hard on either of them. It's probably easier on killer than survivor because survivor is so team dependent.

not true if people don't rescue, if they dont' engage, or are a swf to keep away from the killer you won't get the emblem progress you want for that match. it isn't as easy for someone that isn't always playing or playing killer to have the higher skills. gold is much easier than iri I agree, but that's 4 in ONE match, you have to get chaser, gatekeeper, devout AND malicious that's not easy

  • 4 gold emblems as killer is not easy for some to get ... for others sure if you're a killer main it won't be hard to get. I'm going to have to do it as survivor in a 4 man swf and even then it's not that even a guaranteed. :)

Then play the survivor route? I'm not sure what the issue is here. Personally, I do all challenges for both sides?

    @goatslinger said:

Im pretty sure you can do both survivor and killer or just whichever side you want. I don't think anyone is locked in to a specific role for the tome.

I play both sides (get all the rift shards from the tome itself) the killers are forced to go through a master challenge where survivors are not. survivors can take multiple matches to complete each and every challenge, in the path to the epilogue, in multiple matches. Killer will be stuck till they get 4 gold emblems. This should be an optional thing and they should be allowed to just go straight through. hell even the near miss can be done in multiple matches. killers are blocked at 4 gold emblems in ONE match.

Yeah but if you play solo survivor any that involve escaping are normally the hardest challenges to get.

none of the challenges, all standard, for the survivor require escaping the match for the path to the epilogue. your argument is invalid, I was never talking about doing the whole tome just the path to epilogue.

i remeber this bug, back then almost every killer abused it

What is this bug tinker level 2???? I have never heard of it and I play killer so did I abuse it? I guess you are wrong, not EVERY killer abused it. I have a perfect solution, one that does not affect the survivor or killer even at the 5 second stun. here is the solution:

    1) Unbreakable is disabled completely while DS is active (no mither is prevented from letting you get up again during DS being active)

    2) killer is still stunned for 5 seconds, enduring will not affect.

    3) after 30 seconds DS is deactivated if you are working (or start working) on the following: Gens, Totems, and chests.

    4) DS remains active, even if fully healed, for the full minute and #3 does not kick in.

    5) DS will not activate for the FULL minute from unhook, even if deactivated by something from #3. (this may not be the best in execution but it is an idea)

What this does, is prevent the combination of slugging you get up on unbreakable or no mither, stops weaponizing the perk, stops the 1 minute of invincibility. YOU WANT the second chance perk to be that? there ya go. you start doing objectives after the first 30 seconds it's done for and won't reactivate for the next 30 seconds so be aware! OHHH YES be AWARE....

EVERYONE here is griping about one perk. killers are upset they won't have fixes from over a year ago and survivors are complaining about a single perk. as someone said, that's a single perk, what about the issue of not being able to hook survivors? to fix that you have to DROP them!!!!! this is not a good thing at all, and it isn't just due to a perk.

Also someone brought up survivors running to the corner of the map and another said that it was one person. it isn't, but this isn't a bug or an abuse either. survivors have strats like this much like tunneling and face camping can be a strat. go forward and realize that EVERYONE has an issue or two with the game and some will be fixed quickly!
