i never said anything about adding a punishment to it.

but why bring it up if there is nothing you want to do about it?

so... you took offense in me saying that hook suicides would remain as they were not punished, which has nothing to do with my opinion on it in any way, as i was merely stating a fact there?

there is no punishment needed for them, the functionality is within the match and there is no rules broken by doing that. only your little (and other's) personal rule thou shalt not do anything I don't want you to do. First you decry the DC because it causes issues, then you decry using in match functionality as a choice. does it cause issues? sometimes. I have been left on hook where i paitiently waited 2 minutes to be rescued and no one rescued me. I then waited through the rest of the game and asked why i wasn't rescued, want to know what they said? oh the killer was camping you. That was news to me because the killer found another and hooked them, they rescued that person immedaitely. the killer jumped in and said he didn't and they changed their tune to "because we didn't want to risk that he was camping you and end up on the hook" so if i can't try to get off you doom me and everyone else to wait 2 minutes to find out if the team is going to save us or not and we HAVE to wait for that whole time? stop being a hypocrite and argue against dc's as it is a violation of the game rules, eula and ToS where killing self on hook is not even against the rules and the match functionality offers you the chance and choices.

  • all of them, and make them ALL tier 3 and ALL basekit on both survivor and killer. no choices, just have them all at your disposal without any work... I don't think any perk should be combined.... I think it's silly to keep hashing this subject over and over again.

Then they just afk and watch videos until they inevitably die on hook or bleed out. No matter what you cannot force someone to play a match that they don't want to play.

no one is trying to force anyone to play but here is the thing if you are going to dc or quit the match by hook within the first minutes of the game no matter what it is set up I would suggest that it is not the actions that need to be talked about but the arrogance that this game must give them fun 24/7 and no one else can have fun without them. dcing is the worst of the actions, suidice on hook at least contains a choice. I have seen people play the game for 4 gens and just as the final gen pops they dc. why? they were rancor. so they had 15-20K points and litterally no hooks in the game for the killer and they DC? they get 0 points. because of DC... sure let them choose to try to get off the match functionality offers that, let them decide to struggle or not struggle. but stop decrying the dc and then complain about the suicide on hook. if you removed the struggle all together, let the game just keep you on the hook, you can't try to get off what so ever and you have to sit there for 2 minutes watching your teammates not even care you're on the hook but you can't leave the match, what's going to be the difference if someone gets you at the end of stage two, because i'd go find the killer and get them to hook me again and i'd be out of the game, keeping what points i had at least.

There's very little point to your argument on suicide hook points when the core of the problem is not the points but the fun factor of a match when killers go up against 3-2 survivors when the first 1-2 hook suicide early into the game with 5-4 gens still up. You know the remaining survivors have zero chance succeeding in fixing gens so now the rest of the game is just hide and seek. It's not fun, simple.

again their fun is trumped by their inability to understand that people play in different ways and if they don't like it, they should stop playing. I don't care what anyone says the rules of the killer shalt not tunnel, the killer shalt not make it unfun for the survivors is bullcrap. it is a contrivance to make it about their own and not about EVERYONE in the game. I have been tunneled, I have been slugged, I have been left to bleed out, I have been face camped. I have seen teammates face camped. you know what? the only thing to do in these cases is keep an eye on the situation and continue to work on gens and do bones. If you want to whine about people suicide on hook then you are asking the devs to take away their CHOICE because YOUR fun is removed. I literally yesterday was in a match that I kobe'd right in front of the killer, and if I didn't have that choice I could not have continued to be part of the team and helped get people out of the match. making a choice in the game of when to try to get off the hook and when to keep working on a gen, and when to hide and be stealthy are all tactical parts of the game. IF people decide that game is not for them, let them try, if you're not in the position to save them you'd not have been in that position in the next minute anyways because you were deciding to work on a gen instead of get up and rescue them.

Here you go I get hooked on a team that includes you, I WAIT for stage one to go, I start struggling and still YOU and the other three are not coming for me and I can tell you won't get to me, if the killer wasn't face camping me I'd let go in a friking heartbeat because you have just made the game about your experience of getting generators done over the fact my one hook could have meant i was working on gens myself or other things. it's my damn choice if i elect to do something the game offers me within the confines of the match. not YOUR CHOICE of when YOU come save me and I have to just sit there because YOU DECIDE IT IS SO. HOWEVER it is a conscious choice for me to leave the match functionality and click the leave match button which then puts me in violation of the stated rules of the game thus I must accept the penalty assessed by the game IF i take that action.

People want to say that dcing removes the chance for the killers and survivors to gain points and emblem progress and this is true no matter WHEN the dc happens. BUT if you are to decry removing choices within the match functionality you remove their choice of playing or not playing, of deciding when is enough and when to let their team have a better chance at finding hatch. You are the one with the incorrect view point, mine is from the idea that the match offers the option, your viewpoint is only along YOUR game play and how YOUR ideas trump the rules and how others can or want to play as well.

I know. The Friday the 13th Lawsuit hit it. and it's all about who owns the copyright to Friday the 13th. Nothing else; the problem is all the sequels and the game can be considered derivative works and since the rights are up in the air it kills ANYTHING new for the franchise. The writer of the first film used his right to claim his content back and the director didn't want to make a new deal. this could have been solved easily. That's why I said hit by a lawsuit, not the subject of a lawsuit.

fair enough but the lawsuit was only about the character of jason if you read it but not the rest of the movies or settings. so it is open currently to anything that has nothing of jason in it what so ever. but that wouldn't be that good either.

  • There is a way to report them for death threats. on the final end screnn the "scoreboard" as you will, you can click on the right side of the player and it'll bring up a report feature. this feature will allow you to give a thumbs up to someone as well as report trolling, harrassment (death threats) or unsportsmanlike conduct. you can if they are on the same platform get their information but even if not same platform just get what you can and start a ticket in the help and tutorial section of the game and if you have additional information to give you can give it there.

  • they are under your control.. if you have two drops like that go to something till your internet sorts itself out. I'm sorry i have nothing to give to people that keep at something just hoping it was different 5 minutes later. if I get booted from a game say final fantasy 14 i'll try to get back in, if i can't get in i'll look up the error code or if there are any issues going on before i try again. You can thank the rest of the collective (not everyone and i'm not saying you do this either specifically as I don't know you) player base that decided it's cool to dc because they don't like something and won't play a game they paid to play unless it's something THEY think they can win. it's this behavior that has caused these penalties to be enacted because it got so rampant mid 2019's to cause an outcry for action. this is the action, now if they've done it so no one can hack the penalties and give people penalties they didn't deserve then it'll get better.

but playing on unstable internet just begs the question why? you know it's unstable and you'll let your friends and team mates down.

  • also the game looks for average group level (1-4 people or killer) to be plus or minus 6 for killer and other party, then if a match isn't quick to be found then it will start widening the search window till it can put you in the right match. so in essence a solo survivor should not take that long to get into a lobby, but a killer would take a bit longer as it's trying to match 4 people to the killer, then 2 or 3 man swfs will populate where they can. a 4 man swf should on average take about the same time or less than killer to match up

At least this game didn't get hit by a broad lawsuit like Friday the 13. That game was awesome. It had a lot of issues too but it was barely allowed to get off the ground.

the game did not get hit by a lawsuit, but the primary character of the game tangentially involved the game in a lawsuit because of copyright. many don't realise that it wasn't the subject of a lawsuit but only involved because three people had a legal dispute over the rights to the character jason voorhees.

I see you copypaste these rules everywhere but it feels pompous as hell in a few parts.

Don't cheat with lag spikes? What do people think lag spikes are? It's not a physical object you jam into the ethernet port.

What if it's the game ######### up? Am I to be victim blamed for being killer and the servers being #########? Random dc's could be attributed to the spaghetti code too. I'm walking along and suddenly my character drops dead, killer nowhere near me. But I guess its my fault right?

    Two is fine.

Three is unreasonable. You won't get people to follow decor and proper mannerisms just by telling them to. If I pull victory from the jaws of defeat all while being mocked the entire match, I'm letting them have it if they engage me.

Respect is more important. It may be nitpicking but respect is more understandable virtue as it relates to how you view and treat others and would like wise see in return. I see a gg, I gg. Someone has a problem with what I do, I explain my actions and my reasoning for doing so. Being humble and gracious is an effect of being respectful.

Additionally on topic, why is there a forfeit button if you just get punished anyways? They say if it's in the game, you can use it, but the quit button is apparently taboo.

"Additionally on topic, why is there a forfeit button if you just get punished anyways? they say if it's in the game, you can use it, but the quit button is apparently taboo."

There is the game, that starts when you launch the executable and runs till you shut it down. Then there is the MATCH which starts once you click START/READY in the killer lobby and the game moves from the over all game to the match where you have only the 4 perks, 1 item(power for killer), 2 add ons and one offering or less. and one full outfit choice. once you are in the match your cursor does not exist and it becomes part of your movement controls. During the MATCH portion of the game there is no "FORFEIT BUTTON" as to get to it you must leave the match functionality by hitting the escape key and you then have control over your cursor once again and this is where the "Leave Match" button is located. while you are in this menu, you can not control your character and it is just stationary, nor are you doing any match tasks during this time (generator repairs or totem cleansing etc). This is the distinction that you are missing, and the fact that the developers have this functionality to ensure that the match can end even if conditions end up causing the match to not end organically and YES this does happen, rarely now days but it does still happen. if your character is stuck in the geometry then use the button, if the player is bugged in a way that will prevent the match from ending use the button, but those are the only two reasons to use this OUT OF MATCH functionality.

  • These posts are a dime a dozen but what it really reveals is that there is a rot within the player base called hubris. this hubris is manefested in the "X perk is crap, Y perk is better and Killers can't run noed" YADDA YADDA YADDA! People were complaining about sound issues and silent slugs..... (killers) and I said if you get this bug often enough that it irritates you so much ADAPT and play with the perk "DEER STALKER" I have never YET had a silent slug! but the answer was "I don't want to devote a perk to this issue, it should be base kit!" this same thing is said of survivor stuff! YES! survivors say the same of several of their perks should be basekit! lets just put the perks on EVERY killer and every survivor, kill the blood points, give everyone unlimited items, add ons and offerings! no more blood web! you buy the game and you're elevated to the rank of having every survivor you have access to be P3-50 immediately! no work necessary! oh yea and since all perks are basekit, there is no need to decide what perk to use because we'll have em all!

this is the rot that has gotten a hold of many of this community, they think their way is the only way to play and when they don't like it they decide to dc! oh hey the killer found you right after you got on your first gen? let's run and if you're downed lets DC! yea that's right! oh yea.... perfect idea.... so now you've broken the rules, and the dc penalties are back and you have a 5 minute time out.... then another thing happens, it's now a 10 minute... now you don't like your killer slugging you for a minute while they chase the other survivor that was on your hip when you went down, so you dc now you're at 15 minutes..... eventually you work your way up to an hour and then suddenly your internet goes out.... oh yea complain you got a 6 hour ban for your internet going out. This is the other rot that is in the community there is nothing wrong with the game till you are unfairly affected. you know what? SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP! don't let your body try to write checks your eagles can't cash! (movie references!) anyways I know not everyone here is like that but that is the gist of what i keep seeing....

People make a big deal that suicide on the hook is the exact same as a dc well it isn't. ok say each hook state is 200, plus 600 for each hook itself. and a final 200 for the actual sacrifice so that is one hook, 600 + 200 for hook state one + 200 for hook state two + 200 for sac. that's 1200 points right there. Now the dc (on down before hook): that is 0 for all these values to the killer. so yes that's a big discrepancy in the amount of points. now add in 4 people (assuming one hook sac's) thats 4800 points! if all 4 people dc guess what the killer gets for that? a big fat ZERO! now look at survivor. it's 1000 points per save, and 500 if it's a safe hook rescue. that's 1500. if you dc on first down you just cost 1-3 people 1000 or more points.

so even if you "suicide on hook" you give the killer points and the orther survivors a chance to save your butt and get points. the game isn't about one survivor, it's about 4 survivors and one killer. now you'll say well what if the killer is taaxic? I mean they face camp and slug! that's just wrong and should be punishable by the game. Well it is not, the rules do not tell you how to be a killer just that you are to kill survivors and play the game. the rules do not tell you to not tbag at every pallet or gesture after you stun the killer as survivor so who the hell made up those rules that said this was toxic? the people that decided their game play rules was the only rules people can play by. Disconnecting should be an EXPLOIT when it is not used to stop a match from going on for ages after EGC is complete or that you're stuck in the geometry as PER the GAME RULES.

What about those who don't care about the timer and will just come back and try for a perfect experience tomorrow? Why reward behavior like that?

I'd rather have longer queue times and they not get to play the game what so ever. If they were in my match they dc and go off from playing today then others won't have to deal with their dcing nature and I won't see them again. if they dc'd before and I never see them they won't dc what so ever in my match. is it perfect? nope but it works in my favor in the long run.

oh believe me, its going to stop.

eigther they stop it themselves or the game is gonna stop them from doing it - by not letting them play in the first place.

give it a few days and its gonna be drastically lower to what it was before.

killing themselves on hook isnt punished though, so thats still gonna be a thing. while its not exactly rare, its a lot less likely to happen than a disconnect and you at least get some points for it as killer, so thats something

"killing themselves on hook isnt punished though, so thats still gonna be a thing. while its not exactly rare, its a lot less likely to happen than a disconnect and you at least get some points for it as killer, so thats something"

this action is not against the rules. there is a feature that lets you try to get off the hook, it costs you if you do it, but it can reward you as well. And i know people that have played for 1000's of hours that FORGET and i mean litterally forget to hit the space bar for struggle especially if they think that was their first hook or been on hook a while and have their attention else where at the moment the arms come in. So stop trying to punish people for playing the damn game and making it an issue as if it's just as bad. hell today I kobe'd infront of a legion that knew someone was near and I got away for a short while. meanwhile I'm in a match where I'm saving people, doing gens and all three of the rando survivors I was with dc'd on first hook. killer got me, but you know what they were cool about it and gave me hatch but i'd have accepted a hook at that point.

  • @lowiq said:

DC Penalties don't fix the core issue as to why people are DCing in the first place.

you're right it can't fix the player's attitudes that others HAVE to play their way and their way only. killers can't play but specific characters if that, killers can't do their job in the game (KILL SURVIVORS) and certainly can't make emotes, or expressions what so ever. also Killers can't do anything that furthers their own challenges or anything that gives them blood points. Killers are not supposed to use perks that some decide are bad, but survivors can play any perk they want no matter what. The issue is the fact that players are freaking selfish! It's not just one person playing but 5 people playing. no one has to adhere to any rules except the rules that are posted by the creators of this game. and those players that are DCing are saying they don't care about the rules because that action is AGAINST the rules posted by the CREATORS of this game. ADDRESS THE ACTUAL ISSUE BY CHANGING THE ATTITUDES OF THOSE THAT DISREGARD THE DAMN RULES.

  • @Moundshroud said:

I'd love to seem them try a new punishment for patterns of DC behavior. Instead of banning them, they get routed to a smaller Que made up entirely of people who, you guessed it, have a pattern of DC behavior. It will likely be smaller, slower ques, and infuriating to play in since they will be dealing with other people just like themselves.

On a good note they will have a path to redemption rather than timed ban. They are stuck in that Que (with their own ilk) until they complete a certain number of games (fully played legitimately) without disconnecting. They prove they can be have like adults and they get to come back to the adult que. They lapse again, back they go to DC Que hell.

and as they are removed from your queue group you will have longer queue times as killer and survivor and they will have constant games.... you like that option? sounds like a reward, not a punishment!

    @Slendy4321 said:

Just because disconnecting penalties are back doesn't mean the disconnecting will stop. I just had 3 games in a row where survivors either disconnected or killed themselves on hook. I love the 3v1 with 5 gens left it's my favorite especially when the survivor gets caught in the first 10 seconds of the game. To make matters worse there's about 90% of the time a second survivor will either disconnect or kill themselves on hook. I'm dropping the game until this gets fixed or the next tome comes out because this is just ridiculous

as those that will keep dcing, they'll either stop after so long and hope for a time that their counters reset or stop playing. that's the point of them getting longer and longer penalties. plus the penalties were just put back up and people don't read so they probably didn't notice they were back till they dc'd and then it's time out for them! a great time honestly.

Oh k i didn't know that. I started playing 3 weeks ago. Got to survivor rank 8 and after the reset I am 9 now. Also my map knowledge isn't really existent.

I know it's not as easy for killers to hack because most hacks I've seen so far are triggering actions that wouldn't be triggered by the game itself at this moment and the only actions a killer can trigger are closing the hatch or attacking generators. Survivors got more opitons there.

But it doesn't matter. Hacking survivors are just as bad as hacking killers.

That DbD is coded in Unreal Engine also doesn't make it better.

I'll agree with you that anyone hacking this game is bad period. it's a pita when it does happen but it's not as rampant as many will have you agree. there are so many times i've heard "he's hacking! he got me from a mile away!" when it was lag that caused it. Lag switching is harder to do now. but many times people just don't take into account what could cause something including how the hit boxes are etc but it's all hacking. no worries about just starting, you'll learn and I hope you still enjoy things! please don't let the toxcicity here in the forums and some in the games make you want to quit. take breaks, play your way and enjoy. you might not or might have the same opinion i have on something but I will never say you are bad for having it. :)

I played against a few rank 1 killers who had some of the skills you mentioned.

They were really good. Especially also in chasing you. If I played with randoms, we lost the match quickly.

But the special thing about all these rank 1 killers was, if their aura was revealed to me or my friends, there were moments where they didn't look and go directly to a survivor.

The in my opinion wallhacking rank 10-20 killers were miles better in finding you, but much worse at chasing.

Mostly without perks or bad perks.

You also get notifications as survivor about perks or totems the killer activated and typlical wallhackers never do anything like that.

So i would say either some players in this game use hacks or all the perks are overrated and the rank tells nothing about how good a player is.

Also, because I see so many survivors who use hacks, I don't believe it's much different for killers.

The problem for sure is, I can't watch them playing like survivors after I died. So all hacking killers got a green card for using hacks.

I just got sent back to rank 17 killer and survivor. why? because of rank reset I am a fair killer not the best by far, not great but ok to good really. I have done well against purple ranks, I've hooked and sac'd/killed red ranks as well. I don't use wall hacks and I can find people failry easily since I know many of the maps pretty well and I can use that knowledge plus where the gens are and my perks help me know where people are.... i can sometimes even find survivors who quietly get into lockers too.

  • @Survivalistornador said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1679523#Comment_1679523

No, because even all aura reading perks together are BS against a wallhack.

Wallhackers usually don't hang people on hooks just kill them and the whole match is very short.

If they follow a survivor and you get close to a downed survivor they get back.

And they never look/go in a direction where no survivor is.

I meant obvious hackers. Crazy outstanding hacks. These i see about every 4th round.

All the others are either without hacks or i can't tell for sure if someone used hacks.

But not all the hackers are bad or give you a disadvantage. I guess many of them are just bored frome the game.

The real problem the hackers cause is that you joined an match and know that this isn't even worth to play.

So you wait a long time to find a match and if you finally found one it's no real match and you play or start searching for a new match again.

It's very time consuming from about UTC 7 PM - 0 AM.

I disagree that what many call "WALL HACKS" is always a hack but there are times that people have the perks they need to know where people are. Also there are lots of things that tell a person where a survivor is if you are attentive. sometimes people get lucky and yes it can be more than once in a game and actually even all in one game.

    1) strydor increases the breathing sounds of survivors, skilled killers are good at spotting survivors with this.

    2) injured survivors ARE LOUD combined with #1 it's easy to find. Iron will 3 is not 100% quiet but very but #1 reduces that by 1/2.

    3) bbq gives people a way to go and then combine with whispers that gives a location if you are listening.

    4) object of obsession, that's EASY to find.....

    5) Rancor.

    6) plague's iri add on that shows aura every time a survivor pukes....

need i go on? there is lots of information to be held here.

I presume they fix their DC penalty issues ASAP, though, right?

I personally don't really feel that it's BHVR's responsibility to make it up to streamers affected by abuse of their system by hackers... it's not 100% their fault past the fact that their DC system is exploitable, which they do disable when exploits are found & abused. It would be nice if they gave a little something to Fog Whisperers as a "sorry this happened to you!" but imo... while they're to blame for their system security holes, they're not the people hacking or responsible for the hackers who abuse it. It sucks because Tru3 and Puppers most likely lose a bit of income they could be generating in the time that they have hacked ban timers, but I don't think they're entitled to anything further than an extremely quick response from BHVR, which they absolutely deserve to have.

I support the DC penalty too but I definitely feel like they need to do some major work on it if they haven't already. Perhaps they could just make the absolute maximum for even repeated DCs only be about 5-10 minutes, or something like that.

P.S. do you main Shulk in smash or do you solely play the Xenoblade games?

when something they do affects someone they should do something for them beyond fixing the issue. if it was just someone hacking their account for other reasons that has nothing to do with what they did, then no but by hacking the penalty system and applying it to someone when behavior did not take adequate precautions and this happens it's on behavior because they were not doing what is needed. so I agree with you if it wasn't something behavior could have done better that caused the issue.

Delete the legion = no more dcs forever

by your idea we'd delete EVERY killer because someone hates the various killers. not everyone hates the legion, I don't. hell I don't hate any killer. the claim that it is unfun to go against legion, means you either 1) do not face good legions, or 2) you are facing people above your skill level. but you choose to do what you choose to do, accept the penalty that goes with it.

    @skarsguts said:

Because killers have become problematic. Legion is unfun and miserable to play against to this day.

Instead of applying DC bans as if they committed a federal crime, the developers should actually make killers enjoyable to go against. Punishing people for leaving a match that they're not enjoying is a great way to further kill your game. The devs are great at making moves to kill the game though.

so rules don't matter to you. you don't like that rules are enforced? you like not having them enforced, you know what that makes? it makes it unfun for me as a survivor when people just straight up dc for bs reasons. and "legion is unfun" is a BS reason to dc. if you don't like your chances of going up against a legion then STOP playing.

This. I play PS4, and encountered a Survivor hacking while I was survivor myself. I can record via the PS4 share option, but beyond that, I can't just upload the video to BHVR's site since it's on my console with no way for me to get it from there. I could use a memory stick or something, but I shouldn't have to go through a ton of hoops just to be able to report. Not only that, but this survivor was also on another platform, PC most likely, and I can't access their Steam account to get their ID or anything else. And in-game reporting doesn't seem to prove if anything happens. There needs to me more measures in place for this kind of this, especially after 4 years.

and i agree before when dedicated servers did not exist i can understand why but now it's redundant.

This is such a stupid method! In CS/LOL/DOTA/HOTS/etc. there are overwatch replays a few kbs that have +40 min of gameplay in them! I dont record my matches, I dont have AND dont use a software that allowes me to record the matches either! Why are WE supposed to do that huge amount of work so you can finaly do what is expected of you?

Put in a overwatch / replay mechanic that records the match in numbers and can be generated again afterwards! This would solve SOOOO much problems!

it would be good to have the petitioner's view point I agree but I agree with you not everyone will be able to record their matches for various reasons. your reason is a valid reason as well.

  • MMR is not fixed, not a peep about it at all. I doubt it's ready to go back or will be.

I have more than 1000h played and only stumbled upon 1 hacker lmao, I guess you're either probably just bad and call everyone a hacker if you're getting killed or just bad luck.

I too have only seen one person who actually hacked and then i've seen a couple more i've suspected but could not verify a hack due to possible issues with bugs etc.

  • @Rizzo said:

If you suspect someone is using hacks, please do report them.

Keep in mind to record your match, report in game and open a ticket on the support website (https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us), attaching the video proof you collected and all the offender's information.

If you need any more information about it, you can find it here:

@Rizzo90 not everyone can record their matches, and not every match is a hacker. Behavior needs to step up, and get the data from the DEDICATED servers which has everything that is happening, and stop relying and demanding recordings from people that 1) don't know how to record their matches, 2) don't have the pc capable of playing the game and recording, 3) don't have the programs it takes to record their matches. Before dedicated servers Behavior had access to very limited bits of information as it was point to point, but with dedicated servers they have access to all the information they need.

I agree they should be reported and when a report is issued, the server should transmit the match data to Behavior for analysis and review for the report. if the data is not needed it can be deleted at that point. HOWEVER I do agree that if someone can offer video evidence of the "hack" or actions this should be taken into consideration as well. I keep telling behavior this same bit of information when i report someone, I can't just start my obs up and click record to record a single time that I see a hack or issue in the game that will be over by the time I get obs up.

This along with responses to those that do report, it would go far to get people to accept that behavior takes reports seriously instead of just ignoring them. No information should be given about the results but that action or appropriate action has been taken. this simple email to those that take the time to fill out a report ticket and even sometimes submit videos for them would go a long way to start repairing the idea that behavior ignores all reports unless you're a fog whisperer.

  • you could get specific bundles on pc-steam and as @Fracture said sales for halloween will happen. I know there is a bundle for like 60 bucks that has 7 or so dlc, plus cosmetics plus base game that may go on sale even further. good luck and take it easy !

1000 matches are more then enough to make your own statistic. Lithe next to balance landing are two of the rarest exhaustion perks i see ingame. SB and DH are much more common. Never used lithe. Vaulting hitboxes are way to messed up for that. Just today again. I vaulted the windiw in the green roundell at asylum. I already had my feet at the ground and the killer had to go around the corner but he still managed to hit me with 1m distance between us. Should have been impossible but nope. I still got downed.

On another occasion a huntress got me with her axe when i already was in the next room.

Thinking of it. Has anyone noticed the lag being worse the past weeks?

Every single time i down a survivor he clips and then is 50cm-1m further away from where i downed him. It's totally messed up.

you have just shown the inherent flaw in statistics. you can take any group of numbers and MAKE them look like anything. The quote everyone is trying to scream about is "Lithe is used more than DS." This can be interperted in many ways, 1) Lithe is equipped more than DS or 2) Lithe is used in the matches more than DS. the first can be true by it being a popular exhaustion perk but i think the DEVS meant the second option. DS may be equipped by not used in matches as much as lithe. why? killers don't always tunnel, killers slug the one with ds etc. thus it is how the devs stacked the numbers... you are doing it differently.

Also 1000 matches of your personal time is a set that can be used but it is not equal to the set of numbers the devs use. To draw comparisons between your numbers and theirs you must be looking at the same set of numbers from the same vantage as I showed above.

If you don't have the source, then I simply do not believe you. As simple as that...

I guess the stream was over a year ago. If it even happened, that is. And I really doubt you remember the exact words of the developers.

    Game balancing is not favoritism.

Because you do not wish to believe it is your right sure, but if you wish to verify, then you can go look at the dev notes and responses when they changed DS most recently. DS was originally the obession could use it as soon as they got picked up but not after a hook (this is just before the change) and anyone else running DS had to wait 30-40 percent of the wiggle bar (and thus not able to really use it in most cases). complaints kept coming in during this time along with the complaint that the survivors were complaining that the killers knew they had DS as it acted like ALL OTHER survivor perks and basically made you the obsession.

Devs changed it to give less of an extra chance to become the obsession thus masking who the one(s) with DS really was. this change also changed the obession to the one that USED DS last. (please note people were also wondering if you could have multiple rancor kills and it was confirmed that you could). During this time there were some other changes made I don't remember if it was a chapter patch or that patch where DS was being affected by enduring and at 3 seconds, thus giving survivors less than a second to get out of the way. At this point devs originally buffed ds' stun time to 5 seconds and left enduring affecting it, people complained this didn't give anyone any time still to get away so they removed enduring's affect on anything but pallet stuns.

you can do your own research and find it, me? I don't give a damn if you believe multiple people telling you that is how it happened. but it was sometime early-mid 2019 that this change occurred.

  • this could have been an oak offering by the killer to bring the hooks closer together too.... lots of possibilities.

  • @Hoodied said:

The easiest way to make killer adepts on par with survivor adepts is either have survivors double pip to get adept or have killers get either a 3k or 4k

    Both are "win" conditions

the key is not what "win" condition is given but the result at the end of the game "entitny displeased/brutal killer" etc. you must get a merciless killer which basically is a double pip. and in the red ranks only way to do that is to get 4 iri's. in lower ranks you can get a gold or two and STILL get a double pip that gives you merciless killer. what needs to be changed is how that is determined with the emblem system before merciless killer was given for a 4k but emblems took that over

Exclusives move hardware. Nintendo still have their first-party titles and the others are no different.

Though if anything good is to come out of this gen is that the new focus on digital sales will finally put Gamestop in its grave.

making a game specifically for a console is the descision of the company, not for a contract from the console to make it exclusive. leave the choice to the company. i've been screwed over by exclusivitiy. game called pheonix point was going to be released steam and GOG. I backed it for GoG... DRM free baby! then suddenly they came in and said it's a great thing we're going to be going exclusive to the EPIC game store for 1 year! basically epic threw lots of money at them and they took it. I have had to wait a YEAR for this game past it's original release date because I refuse to use epic out of principle.

I know you cant tell and thats why its a problem, not too mention the problem of hackers, but with the way servers are right now an automatic dc penalty just has too much risk of screwing over people who did nothing wrong.

if this was 2018 I'd agree with you but in 2019 the amount of survivors and killers dcing just because of one thing or another it ramped up where things needed to happen and at that point they had to do something because people were not happy. so YES automatic penalties are fine. the only time i've had any issues with dbd is when it was my computer. I have not had a crash in months, and then it was once in months and almost a year from the last one. I have no issues with my internet and the last time I had a drop from my internet company it was due to an issue outside of my house and I had to wait till about 5 am my time for it to be fixed.

many people that get a crash won't send the information of the crash to the dbd devs, they won't report it for one reason or another. with that being the case I say most client crashes are not due to the dbd client but the player's windows interacting with the client. Network crashes do happen but you have to examine the packets being sent before and after and most people don't care in all these instances they blame behavior because it's convienent. I'm an IT security, network and pc tech. I've worked on computers that people think can run games and find out they can't but blame windows, or the game or others that have nothing to do with it and then when they are proven wrong they ignore that and keep complaining. people say you can stay in a lobby even if you dc, yes that is true but not if you have a full on network drop. it will not reconnect unless you are so extremely lucky it happens in the nanoseconds between handshake packets being exchanged and that is NOT likely... the chance of the timing for that is 0.000000001% or less. 85-95% of all disconnects are people using the leave match functionality.

I literally saw in one night, before any penalties were added, she dc'd 10 times in a ROW. first excuse was " I hate this map" left 3 people to face some unknown killer on hawkins. second excuse "I was left down and not immediately picked up" so happens the killer chased the other player that was on the gen at the same time. third DC's excuse was "the killer nodded at me". the fourth was "I don't like this map" and it was lery's, the fifth was "I was downed within seconds of loading in" (in actuality it was almost 1.5 minutes because she was on a gen for it to be about 60% done). see the pattern? there were 5 more times and she actually lost her swf at the 6th dc. they decided to get randos or another 4th. want to know what she did when they said that? she said "bye" and lambasted them AFTER they dropped out of her stream and discord.

Come on it's like a presidency candidate electoral they made a bunch of promises when PS5 was announced, I don't even listen to the youtubers because thier info is never 100 % but I telling you back at E3 2018 they said we we're going to revisit classic games including ps1,ps2 and ps3 one of the e3 2018 and 2019. This isn't the only complaint about the system. I have personal beliefs also so I'm done with playstation.

and you think that what THEY originally wanted might not have been able to be done so they've had to change? things like that DO happen. I have seen a company that got 1.4 million dollars, then took 5 years to say they can't complete the project and they aren't giving fair value back and no one can do anything about it. THINGS CHANGE. i'm sorry if your experience is bad because of that but life changes. I never expect that a release 2.5 years after the announcement to have exactly what they said 2.5 years ago

when it first came out they said the console would be "backwards compatible" but they never said the specific games/platforms it would be compatible with, the media and people started saying it's going all the way back to ps1 but they never said it. the statements recently are there to be clarifying what it is now that they have all the relevant information that they didn't have back at the initial announcement.

I still notice some difference between a 100 hour survivor gameplay vs a 6000 hour survivor gameplay. Tell me if im wrong.

I didn't say that someone with more hours will play better, but you can't say they are experts because they have those high hour games. some people actually run the game in the background and then that increases their hours. I dunno but no I will not say someone that has played a lot will generally play better than someone with less hours. The difference between 6K and 100 hours may not (or might be) that much different in their play capabilities.

Are we really comparing DBD to driving over the speed limit?

One endangers lives the other is just a videogame. Great comparison.

we are comparing rules being broken to rules being broken. and if you didn't keep reading, GREAT powers of observation I put a rules breaking example of a game as well. and speeding does not always endanger others, not even the driver depending on traffic or if there was none, time of day either YET you still get pulled over if you are speeding and no one was being hurt etc. cops won't say "well goolley! I don't think i'll pull that speeder that is going 25 mph over the speed limit just because they are not endangering anyone!" nope they say well it's go time and pull you over no matter what is going on. THE RULE IS THE SPEED LIMIT. you break it you suffer the consequences.

Oh, but I did do my homework.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/128722/status-update-disconnection-penalties#latest

"Our objective with this feature is to discourage players from quitting games and will serve a double purpose of excluding users who are already in a negative mental state from re-entering matchmaking until they’ve had a chance to cool down."

Which is exactly what I said.

Meanwhile, none of your conjectures is corroborated. The irony is that the page you linked clearly says to not report DCs anymore.

The rest of your post is tl;dr.

lol it is to discourage it but not to keep it penalty free. sure you can dc anytime you want, you just have to accept the penalties. you were saying you should be able to dc with out penalty, and that statement says that they are trying to discourage disconnecting through the penalty system they implemented not that there was nothing there. I'm all for dc penalties, all for it and I accept if the game says i got one unless I can prove i don't deserve it. (like TRU had to do when the people hacked things).

if the functionality is left in there has to be a penalty to use it because the rules state that is not a valid way of leaving the match. The match must come to a natural conclusion. do you wish to argue that you're right when you misunderstood that quote lol.

  • @Bwsted said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1670269#Comment_1670269

Except the rules don't say that anywhere. The button explicitly says "leave match" and in exchange for that you (will whenever they fix it) get an escalating penalty. Nowhere it says you can't, because you quite literally can and you could. DCs are discouraged, not prevented.

OMFG it does so say this, I have proven then from a forum post here by behavior. i'll do your homework for you because you obviously can't be arsed to even know the rules. https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system#latest

it is in there specifically.. however it does say to not report dc's because there is a penalty system in place (which is not currently active) if you want to argue this bring it up to behavour... they are the ones that wrote these rules AND YOU agreed to it!

The functionality you call "leave match" was left in incase the game gets into a state where it will not shut down normally, you get stuck in the geometry etc. it is not in match functionality. you need to understand the difference between in match functionality and out of match functionality. IF you have to leave the match by hitting the escape key (you are no longer in control of your character) then you are using out of match functionality and functionality that was supposed to be used in emergencies not because the killer nodded at you or that you got a map you hate or you just want to de-pip.... if you don't want to play the game then don't load it up! even TRU doesn't dc when he finds there's a hacker in the game. you are trying to justify your desire to screw everyone else over because you don't like it.

  • @SimplyNotFun said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1670879#Comment_1670879

No the game actually crashes quite often now. Screen freezes and you hear a stuttering audio loop which forces you to dashboard. Even if you want to play the blame game with the DC penalty you still have to add a feature that lets you rejoin. It’s not really fair to put in a DC penalty without one because those ban timers can quickly multiply in length. How would they be able to do this without it being abused? I’m sure they can think of some way to do it. Maybe depending on what the situation was when you left will determine what kind of in game penalty you receive when you rejoin. Maybe a hook will count against you when you return to the game if you were in a chase when you left the game. You also would have a set amount of time to rejoin otherwise you receive a ban penalty. Or maybe you just die and don’t respawn and are forced to watch. This could also prevent people from disconnecting in the first place because nobody wants to sit through the agonizing pain of watching other people playing until the match is over. As for the killer if he chooses to leave mid match then he will respawn somewhere random or the same spot and just continue playing. Maybe issue a ban if it happens again a second time during the same match so it can’t be abused.

I will not speak of the "rejoin function you mention because i don't know much about it, but i am going to say if your game is crasshing quite often now you probably have an issue with your downloaded files. you may want to think about at minimum validating your files, at worst uninstall the game and re-download the game. I have had no crashing in dead by daylight at all I've had network disconnects but no crashing. so obviously the most likely cause for that is your own game files.

The rules are there to keep the game fair. I’m pretty certain they become null and void once one side breaks them by actually cheating.

I disconnected vs survivors using the lagswitch exploit so they couldn’t be picked up. Tell me why am I meant to stay in that game? When one side is cheating so that I can’t progress with my objective? Out of “good sportsmanship”? Vs people exploiting with a lagswitch lmfao

Are you honestly telling me you would stay in a game like this?

    https://youtu.be/JeyxNC2ffLw

If you CAN prove that they are cheating by using things they are not supposed to be, YES you stay in, play the game and REPORT them afterwords. If you are driving and the speed limit is 55, and someone zooms by you at 80 mph (or equivalent KPH) do you ramp your speed up to 80 and claim that you shouldn't get a ticket because someone else broke the rules? do you have a dress code at work where it says no tennis shoes, and someone breaks that rule and wears tennis shoes, do you come in the next day wearing tennis shoes and claim so and so broke the rule yesterday so I'm wearing them today and I should not be penalized for them? in professional basket ball does one player who physically fouls another give the other players the green light to do the same without consequences?

here are three examples, one legal, one job related and one a GAME where if one cheats and breaks the rules you still get penalized if you then start breaking the rules. You asked if I'd continue to play a game were people were cheating and lag switching and the answer is YES. here is why. I want blood points, also I challenge myself to see what i can do. three instances of me staying in a match when others are breaking the rules: 1) I saw on bbq someone go up the first flight of steps in the basement and then poof right through the wall and under the world. they then popped up above ground away from the basement in the killer shack. I kept playing, and that player was hard to catch but I did! I got them again because they weren't paying attention and got their second hook. then after the match they claimed it bugged out which I called bull crap. 2) I was playing against cross-play (suspect console) and this one player looked to my right, shined their flashlight that way (90 degress from me) and I got blinded. this happened a few times before and after I realized it. I reported the one I caught doing it. I still got a 4K on that match. 3) next match people were doing the same thing intentionally looking 90 degrees from me and shinning their flash light (again cross-play, suspect console) but I didn't fall for it once, I still got a 4K There are 3 instances people were cheating or breaking the rules and I stayed in the match.

It is NOT a pass to stay in a match and the video you clipped, I had seen before and did TRU quit the game? NO he did not he went till the match ended. he went and got their profiles in order to report their arse to behavior AND steam.

And the guy who got dcd because the server didn't like him and gets a timeout will feel just great.

unfortunately because of the rampant disconnect in order to get control over it those that legitimately get disconnected get a penality because they are using it in an automatic penalty. you can not see the difference between someone pulling their network cable or telling windows to disconnect from the net work or other program to do that, from a natural dc. it is unfortunate but it has to be that way till there is a way for them to re-evaluate disconnects (you can submit tickets even when you can't play a game) and have them look at the network captures and see what is there. If people had not abused this feature there would not be any issue. personally I'll take removing the leave match functionality and no dc penalty. why? because if that functionality is not there all that is left is having to restart your game, network connection, replugging in your network cable and then you get back in.

The cost of the Rift should be 0 Auric Cells. Why? It's because of the sunk cost incentive that screams inside people's minds that they can recoup their losses if they play MOOOOOOREEEE! Long after many of us have had our fill of DBD for the day/week/month, the Rift beckons to be grinded. The Rift should have been modeled after the previous in-game events: A short diversion from the base game, time limited to only a week or 2, no cost to the player, and achievable with a reasonable amount of play time. The current Rift system does none of these.

that is not what they designed. and I actually like the "BUY IN" aspect of having part of the rift. for 10 bucks i've gotten about 100 bucks worth of cosmetics and other aspects. I'd say that's pretty good... hell technically after each rift tier 70 I've gotten my 10 bucks back. it's a good thing over all. I expect nothing to be given to me and I hate pay to win models, and this is not even that. it's pay to look good but we'll give you the in game currency back to spend on other things! why is that wrong? and if the rift was going on like the other events, it'd cheapen the events even further. but to each their own.

I buy 1000 auric cells (a 10 dollar purchase roughly) I then get to choose what to apply that to,a full cosmetic outfit or the rift pass and then in the case of the latter I get the 1000 cells back once again! so I can choose to buy a full cosmetic again in addition to all the stuff I just got or I could hold the cells till the next rift and do the same thing all over again. eventually it gets down to little cost and that's a plus to me!

  • Ok first of all the rift is not designed so that someone who plays here or there will complete it. If you play about 2-4 hours a day average PLUS complete all 4 levels of the tome on both killer and survivor challenges. You do not have to pay for the battle pass till you get to tier 70 and you STILL get all the pass and cells back at that point. this is optional they did not have to do this, and in the long run it is free. 4 times i've paid 1000 auric cells, 4 times i've gotten 1000 back. so i've paid 2.50 for each rift so far. If you want something you have to do what is required to get it done! Nothing should just be given to you!

1 … 17 18 19 20 21 … 33
