Looks like a decline in active players to me, with the increases during this year corresponding to events with worth it rewards (ie good logins, 2x bp, etc.) Not that I completely agree with the OP that swf is what's killing the game, but the active player base does not prove him wrong.
People are not playing this game because giving 10k bloodpoints a day is ridiculous, swf existed since 2016 and the playerbase has grown exponentially since then. Remove swf and that's how you're gonna kill the game for real. They should make a weekend with swf off and show how many players played the game during that weekend and then rub those datas in front of everyone. I would be surprised if the playerbase would be higher than 15k

After reading some of these comments let me ask this.
Why is it ok for killers to rely on survivor's mistakes, but it's not ok for survivirs to rely on killers to make a mistake?
Why is it ok for killers to guess, but it's not ok for survivors to guess?
Why does every killer have to be loopable?
90% of killer gameplay is guessing and hoping that every move you make is the right one, but when it comes to a killer that is rewarded for playing well and forces survivor's to play differently its a problem.
Because there's no playing differently. You stealth against a spirit and she will get a 4k maybe 3k if you stealth so well to find the hatch.
Nurse doesn't have to rely on survivor's mistake and she isnt anywhere close as annoying as spirit.
Add to this that the experience to perform at the same level as a good nurse is 1/10 with spirit and you'll know why many people don't like spirit.

It is perfectly understandable that ensuring your pizza is cooked to perfection takes precedence over playing this game. If all of the people that I've faced tonight had pizza then I'd understand, but they didn't stay for the endgame chat like you did.

But what's making these matches unfun for them? It usually goes that I get chased first and last long enough for each person to pop a gen, then they get chased second or third and just let go instantly. Sometimes they last decently long in the chase but still let go. I just don't get it.
You cant know, sometimes i get bored even if i am having long chases but just because the killer is not good, sometimes because i dont like that killer, sometimes because my teammates did something outrageous and you as a killer will never know, sometimes i just have to go out quickly.
Everyone has its reason and unless you ask them you'll never know
-
Bring belt and saloon offering, get on top of the saloon and start throwing hatchets at gens. You're gonna miss them, that's ok, they're gonna come closer and tbag you so it will be easier to hit them.
-
I dont know why people are so surprised by this.
Some players play for fun not to win, if someone is not having fun he won't care if he's gonna win that game.
-
With reworked maps he could bring 5 traps at once and he would still be trash.
Sorry that i cant play my main anymore but the survivors i am gonna get with traps on reworked macmillan, yamaoka and autohaven won't be higher than r8.
Grass is too thin and darkening traps will hinder myself even more considering that the ground is now yellowish.
I hope that they're gonna fix this because noone yet aknowledged that trapper is unplayable on those maps.

Bt and bbq

If it has to be a real anti tunneling perk then it should work more than once otherwise those are just nerfs to make it easier to counter not to make it an anti tunneling perk
-
What's the point of multiple map offerings? Survivors will always bring haddonfield and coldwind. Killers will bring lery's or hawkins.
Yes they should remove map offerings or making the work differently
-
This game is rng sided. Wraith is a weak killer but if you play as him on hawkins its gg. Nurse is one of the strongest killers but if you play as her on hawkins or lerys goodluck.
You play vs an equally skilled killer, the map is wretched shop, same loops, same set up and the map is almost identical. One time god bus will spawn the other won't, a minimal difference like this can change the result a lot even tho it's just 1 loop or not.
If shack window is facing towards the middle of the map or not can make a lot of difference in the game's result.
There are so many rng variables in this game that matter way more than anything, so when someone says the game is x sided he's probably quite inexperienced or just disingenous
-
Because there is no interaction against her, playing against her is just a gamble (oh yes there are counters to spirit players that don't have a lot of experience with her like dropping pallets randomly when she's probably so inexperienced that she didn't even know you were there or walking instead of running which will work because said spirit doesn't like ear-bleeding just to win in a game but when it comes to experienced spirits that use stridor and have good sound settings good luck with those fancy counters). She has addons that make her power exponentially stronger even with common addons, a lot of her addons are really strong and some straight out bs. On top of that everyone uses her with braindead builds like unruin corrupt stridor which on a killer like spirit outside tourments is quite vicious.
-
Wait are people actually asking for it to be nerfed for real or is it just some new trolling i wasn't aware about?
It's a decent perk only because it actually helps against stealth killers, if they remove this ability why should someone ever use it? The outstanding 6% speed boost on gens for like 3seconds before the killer can reach you or for the amazing 0,03 seconds shaved off at each fast vault?

Hag doesn't count, since she doesn't move from point a to point b, she just appears there, no walking needed.
She may not walk but she is actually moving from point a to point b.
-
Fastest killer in the game is mint rag hag, she can cover the biggest distance in the shortest period of time.
-
You don't need those sexy shots when the loops are 1m x 1m or the map is just an open wide of nothingness

you compare a broken "something" like infinites, with a something that is intended to be the way it is...why dont you let a survivor respawn after being downed. Problem solved? There is a reason why hooks exist, the entire game evolves around it.
"tunneling" is a made up term. and no, im not a killer main before you start to argue that way.
Who decides what's broken or not? Infinites were game design just like tunneling and facecamping.
You can say its a made up term, if you don't like the term tunneling we can speak about focusing or anything that you'd like. Still tunneling exists and is a bad game design.
There was no ingame description stating that ironwork of misery window was an infinite or a godwindow thus those words are just made up terms.
We either accept the game design at his fullest thus as i said lets get back to 1.4.0 or what the logic should suggest accept that there are unhealthy mechanics (or design whatever you prefer to say) in the game that should be changed to make the game experience better for everyone.

Yeah Nurse is hella bugged. Heck there's even a fatigue CANCEL tech going around aside from the bug where you can look while fatigued.
More like exploit than tech
-
Dead hard has been bugged since freddy rework (dedicated servers are not the issue because dead hard got broken with freddy rework 5 months before servers were a thing and even if they said they fixed it, it was never the same, servers just made it blatant).
There is no intended use of anything on this game, you have your tools and its up to you how you're gonna use them unless you're exploiting with clear bugs.
Curving as billy isn't an intended use yet its the way good billys play. Zoning with huntress, demo, slinger and ph is not the intended use of their power yet that's how everyone is playing those killers.
Dead hard should grant immunity during the dash which it doesn't anymore, so using it to get distance is not an uninteded use but rather a way to use it (which is not even that big since the dh animation has a 500ms stagger)

@bkn said:
4 years after release and "tunneling" is still a topic...
its just a term someone came up with back in the beta version.
Its simply part of the game, i dont understand why people are still discussing this.
There is a reason why you put survivors on hooks, a FIXED position controlled by the killer that the survivor cant leave without help... because its an element of the game. The entire game is based around the hook mechanic... so how can "tunneling" ever be a bad thing? Its the games design...
Infinites were game design, quite sure they weren't a good one. But if just because "game design" then we shall get 1.4.0 back since "game design"

The killer can't have bad teammates. The kind who loop right around the hook, don't take protection hits, lead the killer TO other people using Bond, bodyblock teammates in a choke point so that the killer has to go through them, or throw pallets down in front of an endangered teammate.
I'm confident that you understand why people would have issues with their teammates acting this way, and how there is not an applicable equivalent for killers.
Killer-induced genrush (which btw is a meme because just like survivor-induced tunneling sounds pretty petty) could not be caused by any killer's teammate but just mistakes and poor decision making from the killer side.

No because everything that happens in the game is the survivor's fault. I'm not super crazy about his example, I agree that it is definitely induced when you're in a chase and the survivor runs towards the hook and rescues in your face. However you're not going to find many people that are going to go out of their way to attract the killer's attention but then even so, I have personally done that many times for friends and the killer will outright ignore and continue to tunnel or they will down you and then still go after the other person. basically the expectation is unless you go out of your way to make sure you're seen, the killer will tunnel the rescuer because they're not going to play the game and go look for other survivors or patrol generators. However in the same breath, since it's not their fault that they're tunneling, you shouldn't be able to use DS.
So this should be another paragraph to add into the supposed ds nerf?
-
Wait isn't stealth how everyone was supposed to play? And when it comes to so called teammate-induced tunneling is ds still unfair or not?
Also will we see killer-induced genrush video too?
-
Gen regressing perks are not mandatory on every killer but that was something everyone knew.
Oni and billy don't need any gen regressing perk because their powers are strong enough to allow you to put insane pressure on survivors.
Other killers can't be played without gen regressing perks, good luck playing clown without any gen regressing perks.
Also i quite don't get why someone shouldn't use the strongest available perks, why should you hinder youself by using other perks?
Unless you're playing spirit then yeah i quite get why you are using vanilla perks but other than that no point.

Most killers will accept a 3 man as a win, because it is. They accomplished more of their objective than survivors did.
As for "giving an inch, taking a mile"...clearly you have very little experience playing killer. Don't pose and act like you do, cause with that kind of attitude, you'd be lying. Straight up.
It's KILLERS who are expected to not run X build, not use X tactic, not do this, not do that, to make sure SURVIVORS have fun. Then survivors t-bag at the exit gate because they think they outplayed the killer, when in reality, the killer, to be nice, didn't slug everyone at 5 gens and tunnel someone out of the game, when they usually, EASILY, could have. THAT is giving an inch, and taking a mile, and more times than not, it's survivors taking the mile.
I can give you my dbd leaderboard and you will judge. Killers are never happy, they want 4k and a pip. Survivors are happy when they escape.
You can say no as many times as you like but its the truth.
Surely you and other users of this forum will be fine with 3k, but the community is not made by 4 players
-
Meta perks should never become base mechanics.
-
Twins, didn't play him on ptb, tried him live and even if at first it was a living bug i saw his potential and i really enjoyed victor's mechanics.
He is both the strongest and weakest killer in the game, lots of counters but can be unforgiving and uncounterable.
If they'll ever give him some tweaks with both nerfs and buffs to make him more consistent i don't see myself playing other killers often.
-
I mean if 3 of my teammates all go down near the basement they can stay in there.
I always risk my life for my teammates even if they're not good at all.
But going all down near the basement is really a bad play (unless rare occasions) which i won't fix for them.
-
Killers complain because their only win is 4k. A survivor escaping while his teammates died will be a happy player. A killer 3k ing because a survivor escaped through hatch will say that hatch is unfair and start his ranting.
Give them an inch and they'll take a mile
-
So you're saying that one way or another killers have to play to make survivor's games miserable no matter what?
-
How does completing 5 gens stops the killer from tunneling?
Also is this just the only change or one of the many changes he proposed?

You can get up to 4 sacrifices on a match as killer but only 1 escape as survivor. I always watch Scott lives and he quite frequently plays survivor, so...
He has like 1to23 escape/sacrifice ratio, again nothing wrong with being a killer main but ya know
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Scott isn't even a killer main lmao, he plays both sides. He just recognizes the combo can be used offensively for 1 minute of invulnerability and that it has no counter when doing so.
I mean, dbd leaderboard exists, he may play both sides but the ratio between escapes and sacrifice is pretty huge. Nothing wrong with being x main but denying it when is pretty evident is quite sus
-
Usually players that complain about "small pp" build are known users of "big pssy" build aka undying ruin.
Everyone can use whichever perks they want, but if someone complains about one side using meta and he's using the meta aswell he's quite hypocrite and pathetic
-
Yes so as someone said you can sweat by stomping solos. Nothing wrong in lobby dodging but you'll never be really playing red ranks.
-
Damn self care and adrenaline are so op these days
-
Play stealthy so all the gen progression you got will just be erased thanks to ruin. Split on maps like coal tower where a killer can patrol 5 gens in less than 10 seconds.
Or play swf till they soon QoL him

But you're not going to miss, that's the problem I have with them. He's not counterable whatsoever, if you're injured and Victor's around you may as well just sit there because you're not gonna avoid him unless you're in a Haddonfield house or something where Victor literally can't get to you because BHVR definitely put a lot of thought into this killer's power.
Looping trees is enough to counter him, the smaller the loop the easier the counter. If you loop a victor on straight loops like tl, jungle gyms or everything that has a straight line he's gonna hit you 100% times. Plus he's not like hatchet hitbox where the collision is a small dot while the hitbox is a beachball, the whole victor has collision and even if he slightly grazes objects between you and him he's gonna fail the attack.
-
Because she is technically the fastest killer in the game

We don't use "deserve" in these forums. It's an unspoken rule. You can't say I didn't deserve a kill, just like I can't say those survivors didn't deserve to escape. But there's Tru3's video and countless others that show little to no mistakes on the killer's part, and they barely were able to squeeze out a kill or 2.
When someone says he's playing perfectly or making no mistake he's legit scamming you. There's no way in hell someone can play a game without a single mistake. And most times many streamers are too arrogant to admit they made mistakes because they need to show off in front of their viewers. He can say that he made less and less serious mistakes than survivors did and yet he lost but saying that he made no mistakes is absolutely disingenous and shows how completely irrelevant all of his claims are.
-
The issue is not 4 ds, ds has an easy counter: slugging or on a hook doesn't have any difference pressure wise. The issue is 4ds and 4ub but again the issue seems more like 4 unbreakable even tho unbreakable is absolutely fine.
I think they should make ds way more riksy: wanna work on a gen after being unhooked? ok but ds gets disabled.
Even the unhooker thing can be abused easily by killers, but the action disable wouldn't be abusable. Wanna keep ds? Ok either heal or do absolutely anything for 60 secs(protection hits included).
-
The twins are stronger than people can realize, there are perks where it doesnt matter if you are victor or charlotte: corrupt, ruin undying, discordance shows explosion bubble, etc.

They receive thousands of reports a day, 2 days isn't a significant amount of time at all, especially if it's someones first offence it may only be a day ban etc.
I've seen people report others for getting the hatch, you really have to think about the amount of reports they have to go through, thinking that seeing someone two days later is indicative of the moderators not banning people is absurd.
A guy that threatned irl my gf got banned in less than 12 hrs. That time i filed a report on both ingame and help center. As i said, ingame reports alone are worthless.

Well then you're just part of the problem, there's a system in place to combat this but you refuse to use it because you "highly doubt" something will happen, if you don't report then nothing is going to happen, what do you lose besides 20 seconds of time to report?
I did report multiple times ingame alone, even permaban worth offences like k**, found them 2 days later playing the game. Let's change it like this i don't highly doubt, i am 100% sure

so you have a 100% direct connection that is solely between you and your provider? I doubt that highly. that'd be VERY expensive indeed, you may have that kind of cash but I highly doubt that. cable internet (fiber AND copper) uses a TRUNK methodology that if there are fewer users on at any one time you get more of the bandwidth you have access to, when more people get on the internet that bandwidth shrinks and can cause lag and you may not even notice it. PLEASE learn how the internet actually works when you are trying to say that you have no lag spikes what so ever as that's an amazing thing. Dialup is slow as hell and affords you a relative direct connection to the isp, DSL is a bit faster but you have to be within a certain distance from the local substation if not can't get it and it's still dial up. if you have dish network you are using a weak dish antenna to broadcast through the atmosphere and if it's stormy you will get spikes, pixilation on tv etc. cable that is underground you end up finding is the fastest but you share it with your neighborhood's trunk line and that can cause all sorts of issues. none of the issues i mentioned here are easily detected, nor is it something you can affect what so ever without drastic measures.
I live 30meters away from my provider control unit, 400km away from frankfurt server, the killers that usually get horrible hits live 4000+km away from frankfurt. But surely it's my fault with my own lagspikes even tho the fiber cable in my city is 8months old and all my home cables are 6 months old.
Sometimes those killers stream, they have over 100 ping, i always have 30 ping even when i connect to uk's server i never have more than 50. I don't even know why people still try to deny that when a killer has a cheap connection he's gonna get unfair hits.

For threats of violence or racism/homophobic insults etc all that is required is an in game report as it saves a chat log, no need to go to the help centre as well.
Highly doubt a single ingame report alone is gonna do anything

You need to change your perspective.
It's not "survivor mains" who are the problem, it's "people who act like jerks." You can mostly play survivor, enjoy survivor, be good at survivor, and still not act like a jerk to the other players.
Exactly people that play like jerks will do that in both sides they're playing, people that tbag, flashlight spam or else will probably be the same that tunnel, hit on hook or fancy stuff like that.

Really? I hope you are recording and reporting. That is not common at all. Most annoyed Killers don't even stick around for chat, much less engage in bad faith chatter. I'm not saying there aren't a few (there are always some bad apples); it is just that level of it is actually pretty rare for Killers. Tell us more and give us examples?
I tried but after a while it just becomes boring, the time it takes for me to file the report ingame and on the help center is worth 1 whole trial.
Someone that threatned my gf irl got banned (i even made a post a while ago) but after a while as i said the procedure its too long and complicated to get any "result" because i'm afraid ingame report alone won't do anything.
-
Got way more threats and death wishes from killers than from survivors.
