Lately I've seen many new members of the fog!
I hope you all have a great time here!
Thank you, thank you! It's actually been a fun experience and I've met a lot of nice people!

The fact that they switched over to Youtube, I lost interest and plus the team I supported pretty much replaced everyone and my favorite team members are gone. I used to love Overwatch as a game but got upset with some of the changes and the toxic community. Ironically I came to Dead by Daylight and commit my time to DbD like I did with Overwatch.

Would be interesting to see the Entity's tentacles wrapped around the hatch so it won't open. But @Pythonheir is right that keys should be removed from chests. I feel that if the killer knows where the exit gates are since they are highlighted, they should also have the hatch highlighted too.

Let me start off with the fact that I am not a good killer. I suck at them but I like playing them. Recently, it seems I can only get Red Rank Survivors, most oftenly Rank 1 Survivors. I am Rank 10 as of right now, and I can barely play cause of this. I'm constantly getting rolled by whoever I play against no matter who I play as. I wish they'd fix this already, aren't survivors supposed to be at max 5 ranks above you? Is there any tips for how I should adapt to this?
You know, I know exactly how you feel. I played as Killer the other night and I have had a few rounds that were just completely horrible. I have just decided to mess around with Killers I usually don't play or perk builds I have been wanting to try. I gave up on trying to care about my rank actually. I'm a good Killer with Demogorgon and Spirit so I figured this would be a good chance to learn other killers and study what survivors do throughout the match. There have been a few red ranks that have been nice to me and not be toxic.Another thing you can do is play survivor and learn that way too which surprisingly does help.
I'm sure you want to rank up in the future which I don't blame you for. Believe me, the matchmaking is frustrating, I totally get it but I actually have been taking advantage of this to learn from others. I hope this helps.

Agreed, I dread these maps as a killer and even as survivor at times to be honest. The statues, grass and bamboo around the building on Sanctum of Wrath are an absolute pain and even outside of that, this map is completely dark. I can't even begin to count how many times I have lost survivors due to how dark these maps are.
Even as survivor I have bamboozled a lot of killers simply by crouching and basically urban evasioning around a rock or wall. Plus the layouts aren't always that great either.
This game absolutely needs a brightness/contrast option and I am frankly surprised that their isn't one. Heck, even other horror games where you need to keep it dark or a certain brightness still has options for you to adjust your brightness to where you can actually SEE.
Hopefully the devs will take this into consideration cause I actually have seen a few people complaining about this along with not having a colorblind option.
-
I haven't had a chance to play killer yet with the DC penalty yet but for my matches last night as survivor, not one person DC'd the whole time which was a nice change for once. I am happy that they finally decided to implement this into the game. I'm still holding out that they will fix other things with the game but this is a good start.

My guy. It’s working now, thank you for the link!! By law I will give you my first born and goat. But for real though, thank you so much!
Oh wonderful! I am so happy it is working for you now! You are very welcome and I am glad I could help!

Yea I’ve turned it on and off lol, and it’s running the most current version and it still won’t work, thanks for trying to help though!
No problem! Here is a link for Nintendo's FAQ that will hopefully help 🙂

I have it for the switch and I haven't had any problems like that. Did you check the system for any updates on the game because that is a possibility and the switch just didn't prompt it? But I will go with the default have you tried turning off and on again? I hope that helps.

And how many people it seems to have made upset, because those were probably the same ones flaming in end game chat that they forced Killer to depip when they got stomped.
Thank-you Dev's, you did an excellent job.
Agreed, it was a good idea for them to implement this finally. Separates the salty survivors from the ones who actually play the game and deal with it.
-
Yes, because I actually made a forum post like two days ago complaining about there not being a DC penalty system not being in place. I am tired of survivors quitting and screwing over the other teammates. Also in the middle of killer matches, I hate seeing people DC because I downed them. People need to suck it up or get penalized for being salty.

It's usually up to Sony, I don't think the developers can really see the reports. When I tried using the reporting system on Overwatch, it went straight to Sony. So I doubt the devs see it at all, sadly.
-
Plague because she was trying to help her people and everyone pretty much died.
Spirit since she saw her father kill her mother and then was pretty much sliced to bits by her psycho father.
Nurse for losing her husband in a tragic accident and having to endure the suffering people at the asylum.
Huntress for watching her mother sing her favorite lullaby while dying in front of her as a small child. She pretty much fended for herself the whole time and lived without human interaction.

I'm "hooked" on you *finger guns*

I love it when that happens. I had a match where they obliterated me and I had only one choice if I wanted a kill, which was to camp. Well, they managed to unhook at the end and I just tumbled the unhooked person. They died on hook and I went to the door to chase them out since they wouldn’t just leave. Two of them are there and t-bagging.
I notice the t-bagging Dwight wasn’t close enough to the boundary that the killer can’t cross, and he didn’t realize I had NoEd active. I was so satisfying to down and hook them. I managed to get their immersive Claudette to come out and try to save him but alas, she didn’t realize I had NoEd either.
It was glorious!
Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful and genius. I love it when toxic survivors get their comeuppance and you executed (pun intended) it perfectly. I applaud you 👏👏👏
-
Absolutely justified. A lot of survivors think they are entitled and get whiny when games don't go their way. For them to sabo a lot of your hooks is toxic and you shouldn't have to put up with that nor their whiny messaging. Usually why I have my PS4 messages turned off to people I'm not friends with.
Also, play however you want too. You're doing your job as killer.

Just had a match vs three red ranks and one purple rank (Which I'm 99% sure was a SWF with coms) while I am rank 10-11. It was obvious they were much better than me and rather than hiding in the basement I decided to give it a go. They didn't want a nice game and instead wanted to flashlight click, t-bag and and use the annoying "hook tech" to hide behind a persons body and then unhook right in front of me.
I get aggravated and decided to completely throw the game and tunnel them into the ground to at least get a kill. Surprisingly it works. Two people focus gens and one tries to body block the person I am focusing. I manage to get the kill and knock someone else down since they were following me. All gens get completed and pink hair girl decides shes safe from me and starts t-bagging. BAM! NoEd! Muahahahahahaha!
Hooked the two in the basement and got my three kill. Last person t-bags and tries to blind me but ends up leaving. After the match I get told to commit suicide, which I report.
So, here is my request. The second someone tries to be toxic to you, please make the game as unfun as possible for them. Why should a Killer care about being fair, and playing by the Survivors Rulebook if the Survivors don't follow any rules what so ever? Make them suffer like they want to make you suffer.
Just don't do it to everyone, only the obvious annoying turds that don't want a nice match for all.
I wish I was good enough to play Nurse, unfortunately she gives me headaches ;_;
I had a game just like that last night. The survivors were red ranks and I can tell all four were SWF. They were making the game miserable for me and even brought in a very rare offering to distance the hooks.
I managed to hook one at endgame collapse and the team were doing their best to get their teammate but I wasn't having any of it. Two of them wussed out and the other person stayed to try and get their friend. The player knew they weren't going to get out so they decided to teabag me before I smacked them and slugged them. So I watched them as they tried to escape and they were so close but the timer was up and the entity got them. I depipped but you know what? I didn't care, I got justice.
The moment you are toxic, you're done.

@C3Tooth said:
@Foxfire47 at least there was no toxic though.
@Clevite i dont want to rank up though. Thats why I mostly let other escape. Still I want to have fun dominating Survivors
@EmpireWinner i play wild, no style. Mostly Trapper, usually in mid chase injured survivor, I go another way to pickup trap, setup and go find them. I have Nurse Calling, I dont afraid of losing Injured Survivors mid chase. Though injure them is a must
@Brucecastro81 as soon as I see a flashlight, I get Lightborn. One down, I want its a hook, not a save. If many bring other item along with Flashlight, I may go Franking demise. I had a game where a SWF brough a surprise 3 Flashlight (they get 3 flashlight when there was 7sec countdown in lobby), you will get why Lightborn is my built-in
That's a plus that there was no toxicity 🙂
-
It's always satisfying owning the toxic players. Good job 😃 👍️
-
I'm probably the odd one out here but I would not want Pennywise as a killer and feel we don't need another clown killer. Plus so many people have hyped up IT more than they should have that I would be more annoyed if anything.
-
I know exactly how you feel, man. my games looked like that last night and it was super frustrating but it looks like you handled yourself pretty well.
-
Easy BP for me personally. I am trying to level up and prestige my killers/survivors so it's a good way to earn more points than some of the offerings give.
There have been a few games where it has come in handy when tracking survivors. One game I hooked the third to last person and the last person alive was just stepping into the locker in the basement when BBQ went off. Saved me a lot of time finding him and ending the game.
You can easily counter BBQ with just going into a locker or having the perk Distortion. I generally don't have a problem with killers using it.
-
Devs: Look! New cosmetics! Archive events!
DbD community: but there's so many problems with bugs, maps and characters.
Devs: New killer with a survivor!

So, the person above me, what they are conveniently (to fit their narrative) forgetting is that yes, DCers were punished, which was great. However, there are people who suffered from bugs that have been in the game for years, including the infinite loading screen glitch, stuck in healing position glitch, stick in a tree glitch etc....all of these things forced people to either kill the DBD process or disconnect. They were then punished. For something they had zero control over.
So to answer your question truthfully, unlike the person above me, they removed the penalties so they can fix the things that cause people to get punished for no fault of their own, because you can not implement a system like this if innocent people end up as collateral damage.
Which I can absolutely 100% understand too because this game is literally one huge bug. I can see where many people were getting frustrated with the bugs and needed to DC and took that into consideration.
Just wish the devs would take time to take care of the bugs in their game and do something to people who DC. Thank you for your input and honesty. I appreciate it.

@Mringasa said:
DC penalties, when they were "testing" them, were absolutely beautiful. It was rare to ever get a DC, and the salt being reaped on the Forums when someone complained about "I got my first ban, and it was an hour" was fantastic. You know they are the constant DC'er looking for a pat on the head because "It must be bugged!" Best times, best times.
Sadly, those times are gone now. I just hope they bring the DC penalties back into the game. If I rage so hard I DC from a match, I probably need to take a break, and if it's an actual emergency or the net goes out, I'll probably take longer getting back to the game than the timeout period. So win/win imo.
Oh, I actually did not know that they were not going to implement the DC penalties. That is.... utter BS. I just didn't see this on PS4 and PC but of course, I don't DC and learn to suck it up whenever I'm Survivor or Killer.
I agree with everything you say. The only time I DC (which is rare) is if a Killer is just being absolutely horrible with tunneling and camping me the entire game. I really hope that they can do something with the DC ban and just tweak it. Ugh.
Thank you for the explanation, I appreciate it.

This definitely needs to be a thing. I'm tired of waiting forever for a match, just to have someone DC because they don't like the map.. Or the killer or whatever. Its just a way to completely screw the team and ruin the game.
And as for killers DCing... Oh my god. I absolutely hate when killers DC because players bring an offering they don't like or they don't wanna play against the four claudettes. Lol I cant deal with the DCing!! 💀😭
Agreed. Like a couple matches ago, I had someone DC on the Coldwind Farm map right when we loaded in. It wasn't even that bad of a Coldwing map either. So my friend, the random and I managed to get one gen done but otherwise we got our butts handed to use from a Trapper. It just makes the game less fun and a lot more stressful on the rest of us.
I don't understand why Killers DC to be honest. When I play Killer, if I see something I don't luck, I suck it up and play. I know how long Survivor queues are so I am not going to cheat them out of a game and make them wait 10+ more minutes for another game that could also have a killer potentially DC.

combining his low chances of winning a chance with his power, and the obvious facecamp bubb, he's one of the hardest killers to pip with, especially if you want to go the chaotic evil route of staring people to death due to Chaser emblem
Gotcha, good to know. I don't have Bubba/don't play him so I didn't know he was difficult to pip with. Thanks for your input!

Survivor: speak with my buddy over chat about random stuff, youtube, read articles, draw or write
Killer: Breathe, since it only takes 5 seconds to find a match.

Guaranteed to be smurf accounts. You see this on PC as well. Just losers who don't want to face people of their skill level and want to feed on new players because they are easy prey. It is one of the faults in this game. They stay at that rank and won't move up.
I appreciate your input and it really makes a lot more sense to see these killers. I never see the appeal of smurf accounts but I see why people do it. Sure, pick on people who are weaker than you to feel better about yourself 👍️

Leatherface is one of the easiest killers to loop in the game. I couldn't imagine a brown rank even knowing how to use his M2
I'm almost wondering if they are smurfs. That's my guess.

My only issue is getting hit through vault locations. Even playing as Killer, I feel like I've gotten a hit where I shouldn't have gotten one.
This is happened to me too as killer and confuses me immensely. It almost feels like not the last patch but the patch before this seems to be a more frequent thing. I have fast vaulted through vaults and still managed to get hit by killers at times and seems like they have rubber arms.
-
Sorry for crap quality took from phone!
Demogorgon:
Spirit:
Huntress:
Yeah, I never use them. Your move, survivors. 👌
-
I'm in yellow ranks and have gotten purple and red. Believe me, it's a pain but this is a good opportunity to learn from these survivors and adapt to them. If you want to climb up in ranks, you're going to have to get used to the survivors and learn from them. Learn from in game experiences or even watch streamers/youtubers.
Again, it's frustrating and a pain in the butt but it is useful in becoming a better killer. It will be satisfying later on that you can take on higher ranks than you with ease.
-
That is a fantastic idea and totally on board for that 👍️

wait you do gens? damn id like team mates like you dude. no joke getting people who escape with 9k points while im dying with 24k points. if they fixed the ranks they could balance the game right, but iv stopped playing till they fix the ranks just no fun to play
I know, it's absolutely rare to see survivors doing the actual objective these days. I appreciate the kind words, man. 👍️
You're right though, I feel if they fixed the ranks it would be better all around for everyone. I don't blame you in the slightest for not playing cause even when I play survivor with my friend, it's not fun in the slightest because we keep getting these potato survivors who do absolutely nothing. Even when the killer tunnels me for like 2+ minutes, no gens are being worked on or popped. Even when I'm on hook, they're running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

Yes, agree. But how about hide them a little better?
They're starting to do that more with the Lery's map. Yeah there probably one or two that are out in the open and you can see but they actually have been pretty tricky to find, even when you're looking for them. Hopefully if they rework the maps like they did Lery's, then totems will be more hidden.
-
I 100% agree that there needs to be done something with the ranking system. Playing as killer in yellow ranks and getting survivors in purple and red ranks who are just absolute potatoes at times and I wonder how they are in those ranks.
Even when I play as survivor, I still manage to pip if I do one or two gens, get chased for a bit, do a totem etc then get sacrificed. Heck, there are times where I stayed hidden throughout the game and I still pip.
Killers are expected to do a lot with just being by themselves and same should go for survivors especially when there are three other people with them. I think survivors should get another objective too to get their butts in gear.
-
Killer: Demogorgon, Spirit, Huntress
Survivor: Nea, Steve and Ash
-
It's more annoying for me but I can still see their scratch marks and hear them. Now, if they are doing it constantly throughout the match, theeeeeeeeen that's toxic.
-
Hi there! I play a lot of Demogorgon and he's so much fun.
Definitely get add ons for his portals because you will want to place them around the maps. Don't necessarily put them on generators but nearby to get players off guard since you will have the Undetectable status for about 3 seconds. Once you activate them by using the portals, when you charge Of the Abyss, you'll hear the heartbeat of survivors nearby the portals. You'll start out with six but with add ons you can have up to eight.
I suggest: Rotten Pumpkin, Black Heart, Rat Tail, Sticky Lining, Mew's Guts, Thorny Vines, Violet Waxcap, and any very rare and ultra rare.
When using shred, try and catch the survivors off guard. If they aren't looking back and not zig zagging, that is a great time to use your Shred effectively. If the survivor is looking behind or zig zagging, try and bait them into thinking you'll use shred. Mind game survivors with this if you can. Also the longer you hold the charge for Shred (Of the Abyss), the longer the shred distance will be. It takes time to learn the distance but do it enough and you'll get the hang of it.
When you are at pallets, Demogorgon can use his shred to break them. If you time it right, you can hit the survivor on the other side. Shred usually takes about half a second to charge where it can break pallets.
Perks that can work well with Demo are Enduring and Spirit Fury so you can shred through pallets and take hits while still keeping up with the survivor. Save the Best for Last is also good with this too and the great thing is if you hit your obsession with Shred, you don't lose any tokens!
His perk Surge is also pretty good too and I think the best out of his three teachables. This is good if you want gens to be blowing up and regressing. Discordance is also a fantastic one for gen pressure.
I hope this helps out! Good luck and enjoy DemoDog!
-
I think Meg and Claudette to be honest. When Meg has that one high pitched scream when she's hooked, she sounds like she is in agonizing pain.
-
I am on PS4 and I haven't had any problems with my custom games. Like PigMainClaudette said, it's a possibility it's a problem with the Xbox NAT type.
If there are people complaining about it to the devs then hopefully they will but what I am seeing, consoles do not get a lot of love.
-
It's about 50/50 for me. I play survivor whenever my friend wants to play but I never solo queue at all. If I want to play by myself, then it's killer all the way.
I actually find killer to be a little less stressful and enjoy playing that role more. Yeah there are games where I do get some survivors who are toxic but at least with killer I only rely on myself and not three other people to get the objective done. I also haven't had to rely on Ruin at all and I'm still able to apply map pressure.
Plus, playing on PS4 I don't have a long wait time for killer like I do with survivor.
-
It has its ups and downs for sure. I focus on my PS4 games (I also play on PC and Switch) and to be honest, my survivor games are not going that well, even when I have my friend play with me. The ranking/matchmaking system has been a dumpster fire and I'm surprised that the low ranks I go against are playing like they should be in purple or red ranks along with potato survivors who are in green or purple ranks. I'm trying to mix up my perks to adapt to some of the changes so survivor is more a work in progress for me.......... again.
As for my killer games, they haven't been bad actually. Again, matchmaking/rank system is broken cause I am at yellow/green rank for killer and have been matched with purple and even red ranks. I legit stared at my screen after a game as Spirit to see I went against three red and one purple rank and I managed to sacrifice them all. I am not really complaining about that though since I am actually learning to be a better killer because of higher ranked survivors. It helps that they haven't really been toxic. I've been having more fun with perk builds with Demogorgon, Spirit, Huntress etc. I've only used Ruin maybe two or three times and I've learned to adapt without it very easily. Yeah, there are games where the survivors will still pop gens quickly but I find ways to pressure them off of gens. I'm finding killer to be a more enjoyable experience than survivor.
