Here we go with another NOED post but I am a mostly killer main that will play survivor when mates are up for it and I do think that NOED is a crutch perk that rewards the killer for not applying enough pressure on the gens.
I know most people use NOED now because ruin isn’t the greatest anymore but I refuse to use NOED purely because I think the perk is unfair and that it’s a bad habit to allow such a perk to exist.
I’ve played survivor games before and see the killer get 5 gen’d then he gets a easy 4k because of NOED.
I know it can be countered by cleansing the totems but in a solo queue or even a duo queue it’s quite unlikely that you will be able to cleanse all of the totems.
I think that either we should be able to tell whether they have NOED sooner than finding out when you get smacked down and left on hook or make the killer actually work for the perk.
Time and time again when I see these kind of posts of people whining about NOED, you're not doing the other objective which is cleansing totems. Cleansing totems is an easy 1000 points and 1500 points for hex totems. Why is this hard for survivors to comprehend? There is usually a set pattern for the totems. Make note of their locations every time you play. Yeah it's randomized but it's a good to take mental notes on where they are.
NOED is not rewarding killers who fail. NOED makes endgame a lot more tense to where survivors actually have to fear for their lives. It makes the game more interesting. Survivors who complain about NOED are usually the ones that hide and hold M1 the entire game. What's the point in playing this game if you're going to do the same thing over and over again? Whenever I play survivor, I cleanse totems and hey if I managed to miss one and it activates as NOED, then game on. It's a fun and thrilling challenge to try and find the totem.
Seriously, to any survivors that read this, suck it up and do totems instead of holding M1 on generators all the time. I really am tired of people still whining about NOED. DO BONES NEXT TIME.

I was playing normally, huntress with windup add ons. Then I seen in the lobby all four survivors had flashlights and one had a key. I don't have Franklin's unlocked so I used an Ebony to counter it. I don't get why people think that using flashlights and keys are ok, so when killer uses something similar it's a sin.
It's true. Keys and Flashlights are death sentences. Good job taking it like a good sport.

Summed it all up for me, and to add on, I believe you will have your worse moments playing survivor because your teammates can dictate your life.
You can get killed by NOED when you cleansed 4 of 5 totems because your teammates didn't help you cleanse the 5th totem.
If you get unlucky, the killer can just take you out of the game instantly if they decide to use an Ebony Mori or want to camp you at 1st hook, 5 generators.
Stuff like this makes survivor less and less appealing to me.
As killer, you can't get camped nor need to rely on your teammates. If you're good, you will have a decent time more often than you would playing survivor. 😁
Very good add on! I agree with this too! Well put 👏
-
I find killer to be a lot more fun since the gameplay is better and there are many unique moves from killer. Playing survivor is the same no matter which character you choose. Yeah, there are perks but they work on any survivor. Different killers with different powers and play styles definitely keeps gameplay fresh and fun.
Playing as survivor you basically do the same thing almost every game with just doing gens, breaking totems. etc. With Killer you can mix up your tactics depending on the survivors you go up against. Also with survivor you have to rely on three other people to get their jobs done but as killer, you only rely on yourself.
-
When I did play competitive I would get salty and upset when I don't get the results that I want and this is for both sides. When I don't play competitively, I usually get better results, especially with Killer. If games don't go well then eh, I learn from it and see what I can do to do better next time I play.

Thank you very much. For the longest time I wanted him in the game because for all the flack I give the devs, one of the things they do well is great design and aesthetics with a lot of the killers and they do the licensed ones justice in that aspect. But like OP wrote, there's no fear factor in a lot of the game anymore. The way to make it scary again is to give them the ability to kill outright. From a gameplay standpoint, that means ivory mori in the base kit, but when there's a threshold of more gen progress than hooks to compensate for how fast gens get done. A killer's job is to kill, not play whack a mole with gens.
No problem, man. Again, you do bring up a lot of good points. They really have done a great job with the licensed killers in this game with design and how they are portrayed but yes, there really isn't a fear factor anymore. Having an ivory mori in the back burner would really scare the piss outta survivors. You are right in the regard that it's a killers job and not play whack a mole. It almost feels that killers are a joke now which really upsets me.

I approve of this comment. But I have zero faith they'll do him justice. Part of his appeal is when summoned, he can just as easily eviscerate you as he would in debating you on the merits of religion. In this game's current state, no killer is scary when the surv team can bully everyone backed by multiple second chance perks.
You know, you actually make a very good point. I would hate seeing survivors bullying Pinhead because, like you said, he could easily eviscerate them. Imagine Pinhead being pallet stunned or blinded by a flashlight. Even Pinhead doesn't deserve that because he is an amazing horror icon that would not take any BS from anyone. So I 100% agree with you on that. As cool and amazing as Pinhead would be, DbD cannot do him any justice with how survivors can be.

We need to see more gore, horror, blood, we need to see more scary original stuff, wherewolves, vampires, pinhead heck even Jaon we need to see terror we need to see this game be more horror come on devs!
I seriously would love to see Pinhead. He would be a great addition to DbD and fit right in. To be honest, with the rework of Lery's and chase themes for each killer, it's starting to go back the scary factors that I've seen in the game before.
-
100% survivor sided. I play both sides and I have noticed this every single time.

That would actually be super awesome and would definitely help her blend in!

You say that like it's a bad thing, partner.
All I can say it's I'm not too keen on it, buckaroo.
-
Demo of course. As much as I like Doctor's, Demo is a little more unsettling.
-
100% agree with you on that. To be honest when playing killer now, I would rather stay in my yellow ranks. I have been flip flopping yellow and green ranks that I just gave up and don't care.
-
One of the developers loved Red Dead Redemption a little too much.
-
Ahhhh, Candyman would be absolutely wonderful. He would fit in perfectly with the Dead by Daylight universe. Imagine a perk called "Sweets to the Sweet" 😍

If you have a switch, you could put on Pokemon. That's what I do.
-
I agree, there should be different game modes. Would definitely make the game a lot more fun. Overwatch has a lot of different game modes and if they implemented it in DbD, it might draw more people to the game.
-
I have managed to find all the totems on a map before. There usually is a pattern with totem locations, just have to really pay attention. I clean totems every game no matter what.
NOED is fine, leave it alone. Cleansing totems is how you counter it. Can't find them all? Well, so be it. Teammates should be breaking them too.

It really doesn’t. They just give up on hook now. There’s literally no point in playing survivor unless you’re playing SWF.
Sadly this is true and you are right. Although the games I played the other night, the teams weren't too bad and actually made an effort. Could have been luck though.

The problem is the game has so many issues with it that it mostly just punishes people for no reason more than it does what it is supposed to do.
You are right though, not much can be done about it other than either just dealing with that, or to quit playing.
Oh, I absolutely agree with you on that. I saw in the dev stream about DC penalties and yeah it does suck it can differentiate between salty rage quitters and internet issues but at least the penalties are light unless you get up to seven. My internet can be garbage at times but rarely does it kick me out.
-
DCing separates people who are salty and people who actually enjoy the game. I don't want a salty survivor ruining my game because "oh I don't like the map" or "oh I got downed for the first/second/umpteenth time" and screwing over the rest of the teammates. Learn to deal with it or take the DC penalty. Can't deal with it? Stop playing the game. Simple.
-
@deollie said:
Can we just enjoy the game please? Nothing will ever be perfect about anything according to the players, obviously, once the devs fix something.. People wanna complain and change something else. Nothing will ever please everybody 😂😂
Sadly, my friend, that is a lot of the DbD community. I don't blame you for thinking like this and I do agree. I try to bring some positivity to this community, so keep on being optimistic about the game. 🙂
-
Not a bad perk to have if you are super altruistic.
-
So the devs did explain this in their stream on Thursday. There is no way for the game to tell the difference if your internet has crashed, you pulled the plug on your pc or console, leave the game on your own etc. They don't have a way to program it to tell the difference unfortunately. Sorry it kicked you out though but if this is your first DC, you're only banned for a minute.

This is probably the real reason yeah. Though I will be honest, just Germany or a few places I doubt would be enough to affect it; also some characters pull out guts or cut off fingers and such already.
I can see it being the reason if China had something against it though, most financial backing and a huge market comes from there.
Japan is extremely strict on showing any kind of decapitation as well. They censor it in games all the time. Resident Evil 4 when Leon gets his head chainsawed off? Still attached in Japan. The police officer decapitated in Resident Evil 7 and you have to retrieve a key from his neck hole? Head still attached and the key is in his hand.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned Hawkins on here before, but it needs to be said...
Let's start with what I like about this map:
- Stranger Things themed.
- It's great having indoor maps for variety.
- Some great verticality.
- Good vaults upstairs.
Now, what I don't like about this map:
- Big, long corridors with hardly anything to slow the killer down.
- Lot's of unsafe pallets.
Basically, I struggle to survive on this map - probably more than all the others. I've tried to set out what I like and don't like, but there's something about it that makes the match difficult as survivor. I know from Dev Streams that they want to rework maps to have more loops, but shorter. With this in mind, I think they've gone from one extreme (original Badham / Haddonfield) to another (Hawkins). It reminds me of the issue with totem spawns: they'd often spawn in obvious, easy to find places. So in the reworked maps, we often experience totems that are deeply recessed in alcoves and very difficult to locate without a perk.
What are your thoughts on this map?
Personally I do like this map and actually have it pretty much memorized but I will agree that there are a lot of unsafe pallets. This is true. I actually am able to survive pretty well on this map and sometimes struggle as killers but of course that is depending on the killer that I play. If I play Demogorgon, I usually have no problem since I have portals and the lunge attack. I can see a lot of killers having difficulties on this map though.
I would say to fix some of the pallets but that is about it.

There’s a thread about NoED being fine and the amount of comments opposing NoED is ridiculous.
NoED activates after all generators are completed and can be countered by:
- Cleansing Totems during Gameplay (5 total)
- Cleansing the Hex Totem after generators are completed.
- Run out of the Exit Gates before being Hit.
How exactly do you oppose a perk that is has a higher chance of being a wasted perk, especially at higher skilled gameplay?
It’s pretty much a wasted slot.
Excuses:
- It gives free kills
- nobody wants to cleanse totems
- it rewards failure
how does it give “free” kills?
whats so difficult about cleansing Totems? Oh, it extends your 5 minutes of gameplay and forces you to do something else.
It rewards failure? Hmm? Doesn’t:
- decisive strike? You got caught, caught again = failed
- Adrenaline? you’re injured when gens are finished = failed but are rewarded a health slot
- Unbreakable? You got downed, failed but here’s your pass to get up without help
- Borrowed time? The killer spotted your teammate coming to rescue you, failed but here’s a free pass to get away
- spine chill? oh, you don’t want to look at your surroundings, failed here’s a warning the killers otw
- sprint burst? killers close, here’s Usain Bolts legs.
- Dead hard? You’re injured, here’s a chance at lunging a football field forward to get you away.
- Balanced Landing? Yeah, drop 30ft, no injury but a speed boost 😂
- self-care? Teammates won’t heal you, here you can heal yourself with air!
- Boil over? Yeah, you’re 1/4 the killers size but outmuscle them, sure.
- Iron will? Hole through your chest, don’t worry you won’t make a sound.
- Breakdown?
- Deliverance?
- Hope?
- Inner strength?
- Flip flop?
Literally of the 70+ survivor perks, the MAJORITY of them reward failure.
You almost got me with the title, man, not gonna lie, hahaha.
But great job with breaking it down especially the survivor perks that do reward failure, especially decisive strike. This was extremely well thought out and seriously, if survivors complain about NOED still, this is a great example to show them.
Whenever I play survivor, I always cleanse totems and assume that the killer will have NOED. Never in my time of playing Dead by Daylight have I ever complained about NOED. It's perfectly fine the way it is.
Again, great job on breaking this down. I applaud you 👏

Oh I know he hasn't been but I never really liked done of the other team members. Seagull was the only one I could stand.
-
I agree, they really did a great job with explaining everything and how there are some things they really don't have control over. Showing diagrams and actual gameplay for Killer and Survivor really put things into perspective that was easy to understand. I really enjoyed the stream today and the devs did great. 👍️
-
I find Killer to be less stressful right now and necessarily talking about queue times but I don't have to rely on three other people to get things done.
-
I mean Ghostface is already a derp. Come on, he teabags that's funny to me. I could never take him seriously or think he's scary.
-
I also play on the switch and PC but I have invested more time and money into my PS4 version.

I'm close to getting my devotion though 😁

Nope. Not too big a fan of him and don't really plan on buying him. I do like the cosmetic though.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeven better! I like this idea!

Very nice, not bad teams to root for =D
Can we also talk about how Shanghai kicked butt last year? Like wow what a comeback!

To be honest, when they changed the rank reset to only go down a color, I was happy But considering how the ranking system is now, I don't mind going down a few ranks. I think you'll should work on your ranks if it really means that much to you.

Let me guess... The Spitfire?
Glister is the only highlight of the team.
Indeed, I loved Bdosin, Gesture, birdring and mostly Profit. Once I saw they were all gone, I decided not keep up. Plus this was also the time my live for Overwatch stated to decline. I keep up occasionally and I might go back to the game, we'll see 😛
