It's a bit annoying, but it doesn't bother me that much as killer. If I'm really worried about the items they might bring, I just wait until they've all readied up before I do the same. I very rarely have anyone switch items at the six-second mark.
-
Why is that idea absurd? What do you think is going to happen to queue times if they distribute the challenges evenly?
There may be other reasons not to have the distribution as it is now, but reasonable queue times are a perfectly valid argument in favour of it.

Y'know the wiggle is locked to a certain tick rate right? Calmly circling the joystick on console is equivalent to your Mario Party style palm blistering spinning.
Same with tapping to not die. Although a small lag spike will completely ######### you over so that one is valid.
I was about to say this. If wiggling is breaking your controller, you're doing it wrong.

Game play for the killer I prefer stealth mode since I've already got survivors to play and design I guess would be a cool thing to have fav is wraith but whenever I play as him his unclock is always to slow i own huntress dlc ( it's dlc on Xbox ) only Oni from his dlc and only legion from his dlc
If you're interested in killer gameplay and prefer stealth killers like Wraith, I would probably recommend Ghost Face. He's reasonably strong, very sneaky, and his stealth mode doesn't impede his movement or hitting abilities at all. The only disadvantage is that it's possible for survivors to break your stealth if they see you. Also, he's cheaper than other DLCs because there's only one of him.
Alternately, if you would prefer a larger DLC or a different killer, the Halloween or Saw DLCs are also good picks. Both have a lot of solid perks, and the killers are both stealth killers. Myers is faster and generally considered to be stronger than Pig, but Pig is better at stealth overall and has a natural game-slowing ability.

Forgot to ask, is there a double bp event coming?
Nothing's been announced.

Double 32 is 64, not 42, but otherwise I think this is actually a pretty good idea. I'd definitely prefer the first suggestion though, since I don't find the in-match bloodpoint cap at all limiting. I don't remember the last time I reached it, so doubling it would do nothing for me. Allowing people to take advantage of the event by stockpiling more bloodpoints would be nice, though.

Thanks! I know you've already said a lot, but is there any chance you can tell us whether those mid-chapter changes are based on PTB feedback or general feedback? Or both?
In case he doesn't get the chance to respond, I think it's safe to assume the answer is, at least mostly, "general". Any changes based on PTB feedback would generally be made when the associated patch goes live, or in hotfixes shortly thereafter. It would be unusual to wait until the next major patch to implement changes based on feedback from the previous PTB.
-
The answer to that depends on what question you're asking.
If the question is "why doesn't the PC version of the game have this feature even though the mobile version does", the answer is because DBD mobile is a separate game run by an entirely separate development team. Both games share a name and basic mechanics, but any changes made to one game are entirely independent of and should not be expected to turn up in the other.
If the question is "why doesn't the PC version of the game have this feature even though it seems like such a great idea, as demonstrated by its inclusion in DBD mobile", that's a harder one to answer. I personally think that would be a great improvement, and don't see any reason why it shouldn't be included. If I had to guess, I'd say it's a matter of priorities - they can only introduce so many new features in each patch, and they just haven't got around to that one yet. But it's a great suggestion, and I hope they take it on board. For all we know, it may already be in the works.

I don't play Nurse often enough to notice bugs like these, but I would recommend you share them in the Bug Reports subforum with as much detail as you can. The more players report bugs on the forums, the quicker and easier the troubleshooting process is for the devs.

For Killers like Billy or Huntress yeah, for other Killers it depends on the build.
If it's someone like The Wraith, you'd use perks like Brutal Strength or Enduring to make up for some of the loops. On Wraith Whispers is OK, but it mostly shines with Killers like Bill and Huntress that can snowball pretty quickly OR require a sense of awareness to save time.
For example, it saves Huntress some time when it comes to searching for their first Survivor, and for Billy it saves you time when it comes to searching for Survivors as well, but his mobility allows him to snowball a lot quicker in some regards.
the point is...
Whispers works well with pretty much every Killer, but worrying about the Terror Radius WITH the perk itself is not really necessary. That's kind of the main point i'm going with here, it's just for general tracking and awareness, it's not supposed to really do more than that, so having a big or small Terror Radius won't stop it from doing that.
That's why everyone uses the Tier lll version, using Tier l or Tier ll is just crippling it to be honest.
The reason people are talking about terror radius is because they like to use Whispers on Pig so that they know when to crouch to hide their terror radius, and so they aren't slowing themselves down unnecessarily when there are no survivors around. That's why they combo it with Monitor and Abuse, because then they have an 8-metre window in which to crouch between coming within range of a survivor and that survivor being able to hear the terror radius. Of course, that's not the perk's primary purpose, but it is a valid use of it if you really want to avoid being detected.
Apologies if you were already aware of that, it wasn't clear from your comments so I just wanted to make sure.
-
It was a win, by all known laws of game design and common sense.
The Emblem system is reflective of absolutely nothing except how well you adhered to a very specific playstyle. It's so flawed in so many ways, so don't let it make you feel bad. The sooner you learn to ignore it and play how you want to (within the rules, of course), the happier you'll be.
-
Updates usually drop at 11AM ET, so around 36.5 hours from now, but that's just an estimate, not an official number. We probably won't know what time the chapter is due to drop until an hour or two beforehand.

Yes, I'm almost certain that the Tome completion rewards will be available forever. The only reward that expires is the Rift Fragments; everything else, including bloodpoints, lore and charms, will stick around as long as the Tome does.
-
My only question is why is it "wrong" to play against a system which itself is fundamentally flawed and works against established mechanics in the game and common sense in general?
I would argue that it's not the players who are wrong, it's the Emblem system which punishes players for ridiculous things like using certain characters or completing their objective too efficiently.

I believe it shaves off like 4 seconds when working with somebody else. I don't really think it's problematic.
Yeah, it's only about 4 seconds with two people on the generator. If there are three people on the generator, it's about a 5.5 second difference, and if there are four people it's about 6.6 seconds.
-
It really depends what you value. I'd love to recommend something for you, but it would be easier if we knew what you look for in a DLC.
- Do you play killer, survivor, or a mix of both?
- Does character design (lore, aesthetics) matter to you?
- Are you interested in gameplay of the characters, or do you just want good perks?
- If you play killer, who are your favourite killers and what do you like about them?
- Which DLC, if any, do you already own?
-
It would be cool, and I'm not opposed to the idea of rank rewards in general, but unless it's just a recolour of the default outfit or something, I think the amount of work that goes into creating cosmetics is way too disproportionate to how easy it is to reach rank 1.

For me any killer that can do a 1 hit down is OP. If all killers can do it then fair enough but once a killer is able to do more damage because of a passive or active ability that makes them OP in my mind.
Usually there is a balance to it - all killers with one-hit downs, excluding any add-on related benefits, fall into one or both of the following categories:
- Their power is time-limited and/or they have to build it up before they can use it (Myers, Ghostface, Oni - in Ghostface's case, survivors can even negate his one-shot ability completely 90% of the time just by being aware of their surroundings)
- Their power is easily dodgable and/or difficult to control (Hillbilly, Cannibal)
Of the generally accepted top 5 strongest killers, only one of them has a one-hit down (Hillbilly), and his status as a strong killer is mainly because of his mobility, not his attacks. As a counterexample, the Cannibal, who can one-shot multiple survivors at once, is considered by most to be among the weakest killers in the game. I'm not saying you're wrong to think the way you do, but with more experience in the game you may come to understand why one-shots aren't considered by many to be that much of a problem.
That being said, this is getting very off-topic, and this section of the forums isn't really meant for lengthy discussions anyway. If you want to discuss one-shots as a mechanic, I'd encourage you to make a new thread about it in somewhere like General Discussions 🙂

I think it's more a point of I really need to learn the advanced things like what perks to use with which survivors, items, offerings etc... same with the Killer's, I've got 2 Moris for Doctor but figure I don't struggle with him, usually 2 sacrifices a match which I'm happy with, so why use a Mori?
I went against a Ghostface yesterday who downed me with 1 hit, hooked me, I got rescued got about 10 meters from the hook before he downed me again with 1 hit then Mori'd me. I can see Ghostface isn't OP at all hahaha
None of the killers are really OP - you could make an argument for one of two of them (not Ghost Face) being too powerful, perhaps, but mostly it comes down to knowing how to counter them. That's why killers tend to have higher kill rates at lower ranks, not because they're really powerful but just because new survivors don't know how to counter them properly.
As for perk choice, it doesn't matter which survivor you're playing as far as your build goes because the only difference between the survivors is their appearance and their voice. If the only reason you're interested in buying DLC is for perks, and you're happy enough with what you've already got, I would advise you to save up shards and buy DLC perks from the Shrine of Secrets instead.

People have been coming and going, and complaining about features they don't like, since the game first came out. That doesn't mean that DBD is dying.
And according to the Steam Charts, it's still doing just fine. DBD has had higher average player numbers on Steam (its primary platform) in the last five months than it has ever had since release.
-
There may be something we're missing, but from what I can see I have to agree with you here. We know that they can enable and disable offerings easily enough, so I don't see why add-ons should be any different. It just seems like the cleanest solution, not only to stop people using the exploit altogether but to prevent a whole lot of unnecessary banning of players who simply didn't know any better.

You say for FOV killers? I don't see this as an advantage, they may be using it, it's not a problem. It is now easy to escape comfortably as 4/4 since the ruin eats nerf. So I don't see any of these as an advantage. However, an advantage like ruin was enough to completely balance the game. But not because he eats nerf anymore! and if you still see settings like this fov as a big advantage. @Endstille as he said LoL ;D
Well, I was hoping to actually discuss it, but if you're using "lol" to dismiss other perspectives, I think we're already past the point of reason or productivity, so never mind.

I can understand why people use the perks they do, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. I'm also going to question your motivation for using said perks when you fun a full instant-down kit, like Instasaw Billy or heavily use Tier III Myers, with Haunted and NoED.
Personally, I take pride in EARNING my kills, so yeah I don't run exposure perks. When I play Billy my saw downs are accidental, baits or punishing a REALLY stupid play. I only pop Tier III on Myers at strong loops, like the Killer's Shack. I have used Haunted Ground to protect old Ruin, but those downs didn't feel THAT good.
I personally prefer the thrill of the hunt and catching my prey more than mindless slaughter. I even slow down games by leave chases, slug and do nothing or kick a gen and go "patrolling" because I have Surveillance, because it is more fun that way. My Dash hits actually leave me more excited than anything in this game, because I have become the unseen predator.
As for your points, @Fibijean, I play a lot of stealth Claudette because I'm actually terrible in a chase, or at least I was. Stealth was a viable option for me that way. It just so happens that I could work on out-smarting a killer.
I tend to go for a stealthier playstyle as well, partly because it's what I'm best at and partly because I legitimately just enjoy it more than I do being chased. I've always maintained that no one should be trashed or ridiculed for playing the game the way they find most enjoyable, within the confines of the rules of course.

Unfortunately, none of these are an advantage. I am using a custom config file I made myself and make sure I get higher fps now. Why do these people have to play at 60hz on the 144hz monitor? What advantage do we get? What does this event destabilize?
That's why I asked what kind of settings you were talking about, because something like resolution may have different reasons for not being included than something like an FOV slider.
And just to be clear, I'm not giving my personal opinion here on whether it's a good thing that certain settings are left out. The question was "why" - I was simply giving the closest thing I could to an actual answer based on comments developers have made on the topic in the past.
-
Unfortunately, crossplay between PS4 and PC isn't supported at the moment. We have reason to believe that it might be coming in the future, but for now it's not possible for you and your friend to play together unless you own the game on the same platform.
-
It's not a matter of weakness, it's a matter of preference. Some people enjoy the thrill of outplaying an opponent by hiding their presence successfully more than they do the thrill of being chased. Some people enjoy doing generators because they like feeling productive and like they're pulling their weight.
Different people enjoy different aspects of the gameplay, and that's okay. It doesn't make them lesser than others, or more worthy of ridicule.

Cheers mate.
No worries. I'm happy to give more in-depth advice with more information to go off, but ultimately, as with any purchase, it comes down to whether you think it will be worth it for you. If you think you'll get $10 worth of enjoyment out of something, and you can afford to spend $10 on it, then it's worth buying, simple as that.
-
It's not a good idea to give veterans a mechanical advantage over new players on top of the natural experience advantage they already have with matchmaking as it currently is.
Also, you're suggesting that a fifth perk slot be added on the basis that there are many more perks in the game now than there used to be, but that's a flawed premise. The number of perk slots each player has never had anything to do with the size of the perk pool, but with the balance of the game. Adding another would throw off that balance far more than I think you're giving it credit for.

What kind of graphics settings are you talking about, specifically?
As a general rule, DBD doesn't allow players to modify graphics beyond things like texture details because lighting, FOV, etc. are all large parts of game balance, and it's very difficult to test and balance fairly if everyone is playing on a different graphical configuration.
-
The DLCs in DBD are fairly reasonably priced. I would say it's worth buying them if the characters appeal to you in whatever areas you happen to value (gameplay, appearance, etc.). However, if you're sitting on the fence about spending money on the game, I would encourage you to unlock original characters and any perks you're interested in with shards in-game instead of buying the associated DLCs. If you want the characters but would rather not grind out that many shards, then by all means buy the DLC if you think you'll get a reasonable amount of use out of them.
-
Bugs aside, I'm totally fine with the Nurse changes. She's still the strongest killer, still perfectly capable in the right hands, the main problem with her seems to be that she's not fun by comparison to her old self. But I know newer players who never played old Nurse who have an absolute blast playing her now, so I think it has less to do with her being objectively unfun and more to do with older players not being able to play her without wistfully comparing her to old Nurse and how much more fun she used to be, and that gets in the way of their being able to enjoy her now.
In other words, I don't think there's anything wrong with Nurse, I think she just caters to a very niche audience now. Most newer players aren't up for the challenge that she is to learn effectively, and most older players who already have experience with her don't find her fun anymore, so the only people who play Nurse now are new players who enjoy the challenge, and old players who are still able to find her fun, which is a rather small group of people overall.
-
If you're really determined that they should not hear your terror radius at all, and that's all you want to use Whispers for, then by all means use the Tier II version. But if you react fast enough, tier III also works well enough for that purpose, and has the added benefit of making it easier to locate survivors, which is Whispers' main function and why it's considered such a powerful perk.
-
If you know it resets at the same time every 24 hours, you might just need to not play at that time. Otherwise you're knowingly risking hurting the gameplay experience of four other players, and that's what the penalties are designed to discourage. Also, as mentioned above, it's not possible for them to tell the difference between someone whose internet switches off on its own and someone who pulls the plug on purpose.

Though the it's not really rewarding enough. How can it be improved?
That's true. I'm still happy prestiging characters with the system as it is, but I certainly wouldn't be opposed to more rewards. I can't really see the devs implementing bloodpoint boosters because it would mess up the "bloodpoint economy", but maybe they could add something else to make the grind a bit easier. Like, say, allowing players to choose a single perk from their unlocked perks to start level 1 with aside from the character's unique perks.
-
I'm pretty sure they're not even thinking about sequels yet. Peanits said something the other day on stream to the effect of "if there is a sequel, I hope it won't happen for a very long time" which makes me think it's not currently in the works. Right now, it seems like they're still very much in the swing of releasing new chapters, new Tomes, etc. I think there's still a lot more they want to do with this game before they even think about developing a second iteration.
-
I honestly don't care what perks or add-ons they're using, but camping and tunnelling is never fun to go up against. I won't write someone off for using a particular build, nor will I take issue with them employing those techniques when necessary to secure a win, but if you camp and tunnel when you could have done neither and still won (in other words, you ruined everyone else's fun for no tactical gain) I'm not going to have a lot of respect for you as a person.

I don't think it's possible for developers to disable family sharing on Steam, and even if it were I don't think that's something you would need to worry about in this case. You won't be able to transfer your progress between accounts, though, because DBD doesn't currently support cross-progression (although it may be added in the future, since we know that the developers are at the very least considering it).

The benevolent emblem is shared among survivors. If there aren't too many hooks and all unhooks are safe then you should get iridescent. Make no sense I know. Had a game where I did first because I was found first and then tunneled and camped and still got the emblem.
(for details on emblems look it up in the wiki)
It's only shared to the extent that everyone loses points if a survivor dies on hook (unless they kill themselves). Points for things like healing and performing hook rescues are still awarded individually.
-

I actually am really confused about the benevolent emblem. I had a game yesterday where in the end-game screen, i only got 800 BPs for altruism. This would basically mean i did very little altruistic actions, right? But somehow i still got an iridescent benevolent emblem in that game. How come there is a huge discrepency between the emblem and BP reward? I obviously did SOMETHING to achieve iridescent emblem, but whatever those actions were, gave garbage BPs?
It's possible that most of your Emblem points came from things like escaping the killer's grasp, which gives bloodpoints in the Boldness category but counts towards the Benevolent Emblem.
-
Unfortunately not, there is no way to transfer games between accounts other than using family sharing to share all your games from your old account with your new one. This isn't a Dead By Daylight thing either, it's part of the Steam Subscriber Agreement.
-
Some people like having a huge grind so they always have something to aim for, even if it's nothing particularly rewarding or worthwhile; the satisfaction of completion is its own reward. If they removed prestige, the game would get very boring very quickly for those people.
And as stated above, if you don't personally feel like prestige is worthwhile and consider it a waste of time and resources, that's fine. Just don't prestige.
-
That seems most likely. I would highly recommend doing the tutorial anyway, since it teaches you the basics of the gameplay and gives you a nice bloodpoint boost to start leveling your first character. So I would suggest doing both tutorials, and then seeing if that fixes anything.

Some would, but unfortunately I think you're giving the community too much credit by generalising there. I suspect that a lot or even most of those who dodge specific killers, or would dodge them if this were implemented, do so because they never learned to play against that killer and think they're "too OP". I can easily imagine people dodging killers like Spirit, Oni, Freddy, Hag and even Nurse or Billy for that reason.

That's not entirely accurate, though. The Consumer Rights Act was revised to account for video games. The Consumer Rights Act says goods must be:
- Satisfactory quality.
- Fit for purpose.
- As described.
These changes were made, in part, to prevent companies from hiding behind blanket EULAs if they are not holding up their part of the agreement.
Right now, DBD is lacking in these areas because the matchmaking issue is making the game unplayable.
That being said, my having mentioned refunds is more out of frustration at the lack of response from the devs into fixing this glaring issue. What I actually want is for the devs to fix the game so it can be played. That is all.
Well, if you can make a solid case for it in court you might get a refund, but the devs aren't about to start handing them out. Still, I get that wasn't your main point, and that's fair enough. To address your primary concern, I'll just reiterate that they are acutely aware of the issues with matchmaking and I'm sure they're being worked on. I believe the upcoming matchmaking overhaul is planned to address at least some of these issues, so hopefully we'll see that come through sooner rather than later.
