I don't believe you can see your rating in LoL. Instead, you're classed into a more general rank bracket, which is based on your MMR, but doesn't tell you exactly what it is. People motivate themselves to get better by trying to move up those rank brackets, and it's entirely possible that DBD may implement a similar feature once they've got all the bones of the MMR system in place.
If you want to self-motivate in DBD, though, you can still use rank. You will still be able to see your own rank after the MMR system is implemented, so if rank is what you use to measure your own skill, you can still do that without an issue. The only difference is that it won't be used for matchmaking anymore.

No where near veteran status. I do give appreciation to those who are veteran players being from the beginning because this game wouldn't have been big back then and it might have been fun as well (haven't seen any gameplay from launch until the saw update trailer)
Well, I personally thought it was fun back then, but I can't speak for anyone else. Presumably, if they're still playing, they also enjoyed the game when they first started. But I also think having posts like this is great, because the whole point is that you don't have that kind of background and so you might see the game, the patches, the patterns in changes differently from how I would see them, and so bring some unique insights to the table.
On-topic, my brother is also a killer main who has been playing for about as long as you have. He has different ideas about the game and the balance from those I typically see from killer mains on the forums, and I'm trying to figure out why that is. So my question for you is, what is your general attitude to the matches you play? What expectations do you have going in, and how do you react if you lose, especially if the loss felt unfair (bad matchmaking, RNG, etc.)?

Not trying to be rude but 5 month isn't too much in this game xD
OP is probably aware of that; I don't think they were pretending to be a veteran player, just explaining their situation so others understand where they're coming from in their answers.

The versatility alone really makes it better than using Brutal Strength tbh.
If you want to argue semantics than yeah, it's slower than Brutal Strength, but only by about a second which isn't entirely game breaking.
That's fair enough, it comes down to what you prioritise, but I felt it was worth pointing out that while Shred may give you a versatility advantage, it does in fact give a disadvantage in speed.
(Also, just for your reference, that's not actually what semantics means; ironically, now I am arguing semantics by bringing that up 😋)

Thank you! I'll try that with my Dwight because he has almost every perk I have maxed, and I'm at level 50 so one of the 4 perks might be Blood Warden if it's a glitch.
You can still try that if you like, but as someone who has Blood Warden and survivors with all perks, I can confirm that this is a UI error, not an in-game glitch. The simple explanation is usually the best, and in this case that explanation is that the person writing the perk descriptions accidentally typed "survivor" instead of "killer". If you think about it, if it were a bug and not a UI mistake, it would be very weird for the person designing the UI to include reference to a bug like that as though it were an official feature.

I believe I tested this in the past through another question about this...
From what I could find, both The Demogorgons Shred and a Brutal Strength kick are almost exactly the same in terms of how fast they break the pallet. The shred ability gives you more versatility too, so using Brutal Strength on The Demogorgon is not recommended.
Also, no, it doesn't increase the shred speed. Brutal Strength only increases a Killers kicking speed with Generators and pallets, that's it.
I've done the maths for this before, and Shred is only faster than kicking a pallet if you already have it mostly charged, and it's never faster than Brutal Strength. By default, it takes a total of 2.7 seconds to break a pallet. With T3 Brutal Strength, I believe it's about 2.27 seconds. Shred takes 1 second to charge, 0.5 seconds to perform the animation and 2 seconds to cool down after hitting a pallet, so in total it takes 3.5 seconds to break a pallet with Shred. Even if Shred is already fully charged by the time you're standing in front of the pallet, it still won't be quicker than using Brutal Strength.
Of course, there may be other reasons to use Shred on pallets over Brutal Strength or even kicking the pallet at default speed, such as if you were going to use Shred on a survivor and they moved so you decide you might as well use it to break a nearby pallet instead. But mathematically speaking, action speed is not one of those reasons.
-
It does not. Brutal Strength only increases the speed of the manual breaking interaction, meaning that it doesn't affect Shred or any other killer powers that have the capacity to destroy pallets (chainsaws, Demon Strike, etc.).
-
The splinters appear on all killer bloodwebs regardless of which killers you do or don't own. There have even been cases of people getting a splinter in the bloodweb of the corresponding killer. Not to mention the offering is bugged, so half the time you burn the splinter and it doesn't even work. They are planned to be disabled in the upcoming patch, however, so you won't have to deal with them cluttering your bloodwebs for much longer.
-
It's not to do with where you're looking, it's to do with your collision box. You just need to be close enough to the side of the pallet the survivor is on that they can't get close enough to the pallet to receive the prompt to drop it.

I don't know any other game that has this. lol
You can't have played many online games, then. The DC penalties are designed, among other things, to protect other players from bad sports. If getting penalised for disconnecting makes you leave the game for a few days, then the system did its job.
And if people want to depip by disconnecting, they'll have a much harder time doing so if they end up having to wait 6+ hours between games. So the system is doing its job there as well.
-
Matchmaking is known to be bugged at the moment. The devs don't seem to be doing much about fixing it, because they're about to implement a brand new matchmaking system which will render the current one obsolete anyway.
So the answer to your question is, it's broken because it's bugged, but it will soon be replaced so we won't need to suffer it for too much longer.
-
Unfortunately, no, there is no way to transfer progress or in-game purchases between platforms. This may change if cross-progression is introduced in the future, but for the time being it's not possible.
-
Just to be clear, the 10th is not an officially confirmed date. The devs haven't actually announced a precise date or time for the release, so while the 10th at 11AM does seem most likely at this stage, it's only a probability, not a certainty.
-
The forums are not the place to report people, and it's against the rules to include anything in a post which could reflect badly on a particular person. If you want to report another survivor for griefing, you need first to have reported them in the post-game scoring screen after the match, and then send your video evidence directly to Support by submitting a ticket at this link: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=191426

Your comment was ambiguous, so I was clarifying for the sake of anyone reading who might be confused by it.

You have to get reported like a LOT to get banned if even than.
This isn't true, they ban based on the severity of the offence and whether or not they have evidence. Someone could get banned after a single report if that report was valid and backed up by sufficient evidence.
In OP's case, though, I don't believe they will be banned for going AFK for a single game, although obviously it's not to be encouraged in general.

Where do i insist that the dev's are lying? Please tell me.
I simply mentioned that in the past thigns were pointed out and the response given was that these issues were bugs. Only to turn out to be included into the game later on as intended behavior.
Here is something funny. The person in charge of balance did not even know their own perks. The person making the game did not know their own game. I bet they are going to eat that just like cote is going to eat i think we did a pretty good job so far.
You responded to my intial comment, directly contradicting me by saying that matchmaking is working as intended and is not bugged. When I explained that the devs had said the opposite, you came back with what I assumed was intended as a counter to that. If you were actually agreeing with me, then I apologise, but you seemed to be trying to argue that matchmaking was not, in fact, bugged, which is in direct contradiction to what the devs have said.
If that is the case and I didn't misread your statements, there are three possible conclusions as to what your point could have been:
- You believe the devs were lying - that is, saying something that isn't true
- You believe the devs were saying something untrue, but you wouldn't necessarily call that lying, at which point we're just arguing over semantics
- You didn't have a point, and were just making random statements for no particular reason
I assumed you had a point because you bothered to comment in the first place, and based on the statements you were making, it seemed clear that the point you were getting at was that what the devs said was untrue. Whether you want to call that lying or not is up to you, but that's how I came to that conclusion. I hope that clears it up.
As for "the person in charge of balance not knowing their own perks", he misremembered a perk's updated function while live on camera in front of thousands of people. People make mistakes when they're nervous. I dare you to tell me that you have never made a single error in whatever your area of expertise is - does that mean you suddenly know nothing about it?

They have said in the past that things wre bugged only to show up later as intended and was included in the game.
Que's have not changed. Scratch that. They MM has gotten worse if anything. If was bad before but now its just really bad. Pitting brand new killers to the game against the best the game has to offer has always been the case. This is the experience for most players that pick up the game and play either side.
Pitting grey ranks against anyone has always been intended, yes, but OP is not in grey ranks, so that's irrelevant. As for the rest, you're insisting that the devs are simply lying about the matchmaking being bugged based on the fact that they haven't changed it and that bugs have become features in the past. That's not a valid argument, it's a guess. If you're going to speculate about their intentions, at least admit that that's all it is.

So they'll only support it for a few more weeks then?
I think you underestimate the resilience of a large proportion of the playerbase.
-
What you're describing already exists, it's called add-ons. @ZoneDymo had the right idea - the reason it's okay for killers and survivors to have the "same" loadout is because it's not actually the same. Killer add-ons are way stronger than survivor add-ons generally, and killer powers are barely even comparable with survivor items. Just because they have the same number of things in their loadout doesn't make them evenly matched.

When I go into the Current Tome it says Tome 2 Reckoning. When you look on the right of the screen, the Roman numeral 2 is selected and number 1 has a check next to it. New to the game and trying to figure it out. Thanks for your support on this
No worries 😊 So the Tome is Tome 2, but the roman numerals refer to the levels in the Tome. It sounds like you're trying to do challenges on Level II. If you're certain that you had the challenge selected properly and it's still not registering any progress, first restart your game and possibly your machine, and if that doesn't work you can try completing a different challenge and then coming back to that one and see if it's fixed itself.
If you're still having problems, you can contact Support by submitting a ticket at this link here: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us

No, unfortunately the Store, and therefore the Shrine of Secrets, is only accessible from in-game.

i healed two survivors and nothing happened... i'm not sure how to finish this challenge...
How did you heal them? What perks/items did you use? Was someone else helping you with the heal? Did you escape afterwards?
-
That challenge is badly worded. What it means is "on four separate occasions, unhook a survivor safely or take a protection hit while using WGLF". So it's essentially the same as getting four stacks of the perk at tier 3, although you can still complete the challenge if the perk is at a lower tier and you're unable to get more than 2 or 3 stacks, as long as you perform the four required rescue/protection hit actions.
-
Unfortunately, I don't believe in-game purchases, like Rift tiers, are refundable. If it's any comfort, 100 auric cells really isn't very much at all - at least you only lost a dollar.
-
They've made great strides recently, but the game is far from perfect, and there's still a lot more they can do. The devs have said in the past that they plan to keep working on and supporting DBD for as long as there are people who want to play it.
-
What do you mean by "Tome 1" and "Tome 2"? Do you actually mean different Tomes, or do you mean levels 1 and 2 of the current Tome (Tome 2)? I'm not trying to be pedantic, I'm asking because it's relevant to the answer to your question.

I get that but if the plan is Tuesday it’s probably cleared already so why wait until Tuesday morning to tell us? I can see not giving a date out weeks in advance but how about a quick tweet
Not necessarily. As I said, there have been times in the past when they've had to push the release back because certification took longer than expected. It's not at all unlikely that they haven't got the go-ahead from Microsoft and/or Sony yet, and they won't announce a release until they have because they like to release on all platforms at the same time.
-
Just to be clear, the March 3rd release mentioned above is just speculated by players, not officially confirmed, so you should take it with a large grain of salt. We don't actually have an official release date yet, March 3rd is just seeming like the most likely option based on past patterns.
-
Basically, it's to avoid disappointment in case something comes up at the last minute that forces them to delay the release. In the past, there have been delays on DLC releases due to problems with things like the certification process for Xbox and PS4, which is outside of the devs' control. In order to avoid making promises they can't keep, they don't like to announce release dates until they can be certain of when the chapter will be ready.
-
You mean the ones that decrease the cooldown on missed attacks (Black Heart and Mew's Guts)? You would have to test it in-game to be sure, but short of that, the general rule is that everything stacks unless explicitly stated otherwise. Since it doesn't say anywhere in the add-on descriptions, or on the Gamepedia wiki, that they don't stack, it's probably safe to assume that they do. If not, that's an oversight on the part of the UI designers.
-
Probably a combination of both. The matchmaking is known to be bugged right now, but the devs don't seem to be worrying too much about fixing it since they're about to render it obsolete with a brand new system anyway.
-
Ignoring them is usually the best option. Even the best players will struggle when there's only one or two of them left.
Alternately, if you know they're SWF, you can do what you did - tunnel the OoO user and rely on SWF altruism (which tends to be the primary weakness of survivors playing with their friends) to secure the rest of your kills.
-
This is so wholesome and I love it.
-
No, for balance reasons players aren't given the ability to manually manipulate the sounds in the game. Recognising the different kinds of music is just something you'll have to get used to, unfortunately. Sorry I can't be of more help 😕
-
First of all, I want to commend you for being so thoughtful about sharing your content 😊 Not everyone would do that.
I'm a little confused as to what exactly it is that you've made, since you said you made it as a guide but that it's a suggestion for a new paragraph.
If what you've made is more of a gameplay guide or tutorial, the best place for it would be in the Guides subforum: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/gameplay-guides
If it's an idea for a new character, killer power, perk(s) etc., the best place to post would be the Creations subforum: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/Creations
Hope that helps!

It also takes longer for them to get rescued, and it's one of the most defensible spots on any map. There may be times when it's appropriate not to bother, but if a killer refuses to ever hook people in the basement because they think it takes too long, that's a problem with the killer's judgement, not the game design.
(For the record, I'm not saying that there isn't a problem with game speed, especially on certain maps. I'm just saying this isn't it.)
-
Brand new and already rank 3? Ranking up really must be easy.
But yes, everyone knows the Emblem system is horribly flawed as a measure of player skill. Fortunately, they're about to release an entirely new matchmaking system, which will hopefully address some of the major issues with the current one. I would say if there was some way, then it would have to be telling whether or not someone stood still and just went to turn off Modem or whatever. You can tell easily when someone intentionally leaves. And I don't usually have bad WiFi, my ISP likes to pick and choose when it decides to be "bad".
But how would they tell if someone intentionally left by turning off their internet?
-
I'm sorry to be unsympathetic, but if you play an online game knowing you have bad wifi, you have no one to blame but yourself if it disconnects you in the middle of a match.
You may not have disconnected your wifi on purpose, but how are they supposed to tell the difference between you and someone else who did? Legitimate question - I'm sure if there is a method, the devs would love to hear about it, because from what they've said on stream it sounds like they don't know of one.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/133903/are-challenges-being-ethical
I fail to see how your play style in a video game has anything to do with ethics, or why it is being questioned whether or not what you choose to do in a video game is "ethical".
Because ethics extend to any situation where there are real people involved. Morality doesn't suddenly fly out the window just because you're in a video game world, and the fact that anyone thinks that it does is the main reason why video game communities get so toxic.
For the record, I agree with the distinction you made between honour and objective morality in the case of the OP (although one could potentially argue that honour has a moral basis), I'm just pointing out that one can and should hold someone's treatment of other players in a video game to the same moral standard that they would that person's treatment of others in real life.
-
Unless someone burns an offering, it's entirely random. However, it is a random selection between all the different maps, not realms, so realms like MacMillan, Coldwind, Autohaven and Badham which contain a lot of maps will tend to get selected more often than, say, Haddonfield or Hawkins.
-
It works a maximum of twice per match, because that's how many times you can get unhooked, assuming that you don't get downed before the heal comes through.
-
Maybe brand new players shouldn't be looking to unlock everything. I know when I first get into a game, I'm not usually desperate to own all the DLC right away before I've even decided if I'm going to play it long term or not.
And I'd say $10 is actually a pretty good price for a DLC in a relatively successful game. I probably spent about $300 on Sims 2 and only got half the expansion packs. And that was 10+ years ago, too.
