Maybe brand new players shouldn't be looking to unlock everything. I know when I first get into a game, I'm not usually desperate to own all the DLC right away before I've even decided if I'm going to play it long term or not.
And I'd say $10 is actually a pretty good price for a DLC in a relatively successful game. I probably spent about $300 on Sims 2 and only got half the expansion packs. And that was 10+ years ago, too.

Or whoever else you happen to be playing.

Ok having Ted Bundy is a bad idea. Was just thinking Jack because its kinda like a myth/legend even though it did happen but no one knows how he escaped. I actually choose Jack because his effect on the media was that he was like a phantom in a horror movie, He came in for the kills then vanished and became a mystery but I am not trying to make it seem ok to use real life killers. Besides video games he had major affect on novels like Sherlock Holmes or using him in movies like From Hell or Batman Gotham by Gas Light. Lastly not trying to change your vote but trying to say I do not want real life killers in the game but thought Jack might be unique killer to look into since it had affect on the Book and Movie industry.
No don't worry, I totally get it ๐ Not trying to shut down your idea, I understand where you're coming from, I just personally wouldn't be too comfortable with it, that's all.

Most people care more about the person they're watching than they do about the gameplay. Unless you're the most insanely skilled player on Earth, most people who watch you will do so for you. So yes, the answer is yes, people will probably watch it, but most of them won't be watching for the Hag gameplay, though some might.
I would encourage you to give it a go. Worst case scenario, no one watches you play - which is already the case, so what have you got to lose? ๐
-
Not the most recent survey, but I believe the one before that had a question about cross-play. Something along the lines of "would you be interested in cross-play being a feature and why". I could be wrong, but that's what I remember. Unless someone has a screenshot of the survey, you might need to get a Community Manager to confirm.
-
I'll just add that even though the rules don't say that video evidence is mandatory, the devs are very careful about who they ban and generally won't ban anyone unless they're absolutely certain that they're guilty - and it's hard to be certain without any evidence. So common sense, if not the Game Rules themselves, would dictate that you do need evidence for something to be done. Point being, feel free to report them, but don't be surprised if they don't get punished.
Also, lag switching isn't possible on dedicated servers as far as I'm aware, since the technique relies on being able to manipulate the other players' connections, so unless you're on Xbox they're likely not cheating to begin with.

It won't tho, that's proven with AC Syndicate and even Identity V where the Ripper was playable. His DLC/character got very good reception and people looked way past who the real man behind the persona was.
That's good for them, maybe they've had more exposure to him as a legend and a caricature than I have. To me, it would feel almost like having Ted Bundy as a killer. Maybe the devs would also be okay with it, I don't know, but I'm not going to vote to have him in the game.

True but devs could change the story easily and could even keep the cloak and top hat look since no one actually ever saw Jack's clothes so we do not really know what he actually wore. Change the lore to make it kinda like Ghost face with the murders but make sure no one actually saw him in his lore until maybe the end where cops were gaining on him but I'll save that for later until we can decide who could actually have a better chance to be in the game. Also some of the killers are based or have similarities of real people but we ignore it for a lot of good reasons and enjoy the movies or video games that are horror genre gives us all the time...the chills and thrills. Then we could add a survivor with him that is not related to him in real life but in Dead by Daylight lore like a investigator or Sherlock Holmes type survivor. We could not make him human anymore after the Entity found him. We could have him wear the same top hat, clothes, maybe some gloves and now he is a shadow demon which makes his face covered in shadows so no one can find out his real identity and maybe some shadow related powers. There are many ways to change him but keep his looks and his name Jack the same with out changing everything about him so the Devs can actually consider doing that without worrying about the real Jack.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1128337#Comment_1128337
That is extremely true and he is a mystery which makes him a great option for a killer because there is so much that can be done with him. Also we can make a backstory up for him to make it a lot more interesting and heck maybe make him a shadow demon since he always did hide in the shadows and would be something that the Entity would do to make it's realm a bit more entertaining.
It's mostly the name that's the problem, because the name has certain associations. That's why the other killers in the game who are also influenced by real serial killers don't matter, because they're not named after them. Having a killer inspired by Jack would be one thing, but calling him the same would be insensitive at best, in my opinion.
-
Myers can only stalk each survivor a limited amount, and once that capacity has run out, that's all you can get from them. It doesn't have any kind of cooldown or reset over time, so if a survivor has turned red and you can no longer stalk them, you won't be able to gain any more stalking progress on that survivor for the rest of the match.

No worries! But the answer there is we don't know yet. "Most items" could mean that the outfits will be coming to the Store but not the charms, but it could also mean that some outfits and some charms will be buyable and others won't be. We'll have to wait for more info from the devs before we can know for sure ๐
-
True, but also true that they have limited resources and have to choose where to allocate them. They could choose to fire their entire cosmetics team and hire a bunch more people to work on balance instead, if they wanted to. But it would seem that they don't want to, and probably with good reason. Not having access to BHVR's accounts, or being an accountant or businessperson myself, I don't consider myself qualified to tell them how to run their company.
-
We've been told that "most" of the items from the Rift will become available in the Store at some point in the future, but that won't happen until at least 6-12 months after the relevant Rift has closed.
We don't know for sure whether they will be purchasable for shards, cells or both, nor do we know precisely which items will be in the Store and which will remain Rift-exclusive, but they did say that holiday-related items, like the Nurse's Hallowed Blight skin for example, will only become available during the appropriate holiday season.
-
I know he's been sensationalised a lot in other pieces of media, I just feel like having a character based on an actual killer who murdered real people, and giving players the opportunity to pretend to be that person, could get very ugly very quickly.

Nobody trusts anything BHVR says anymore. They have lied to us on countless occasions.
Decisive Strike has had five iterations since its release.

The biggest argument I find about the kill stats is that people push the narrative that they are true, but it's been mentioned that those statistic's are greatly skewed for numerous reasons, including; rank, region, platform, Hex: Ruin, other perks, etc, etc, etc.
I would imagine as a development company they are taking more targeted statistics, and balancing around that instead of just an overall "this killer gets this many kills each round - so nerf it", because that would be quite embarrassing.
I think that's almost certainly true. But the way people react to the stats, and the absurd conclusions they draw from them, in spite of any disclaimers, mean that sharing them tends to do more harm than good, at least from the devs' perspective.

@Fibijean how killer compensate?1 example please?Never see this :D and agree its stupid "we know that SWF its unbalanced but we not will do with this because its kill game" funny logic
If you mean how do the devs plan to buff killers to compensate, I have no idea, not being one myself. The problem right now is that killers are too weak to face SWF, but if they were buffed accordingly they would be too strong to face solo players. So once solo players are brought up to roughly the same power level as SWF, through things like UI changes that give solo players access to more information, killers can be increased in strength across the board to balance that out.
-
@UkilledLegion said:
@Fibijean DELETE SWF IN PUBLIC GAMES!AND NOONE CANT USE THIS!IF WANNA play with voice play KYF..Sometimes I think people not see that voice brake game brake bad balance :D
Do you have any idea how many new players start playing DBD because their friends do? Removing SWF is the quickest way to kill the game. Everyone knows SWF is unbalanced, but they can't change SWF directly, so that's why they're changing solo play and killers to compensate.
-
The basic rundown is:
- The devs are okay with people using voice chat, and don't consider it cheating
- They couldn't stop people from using it even if they wanted to
- The plan for dealing with it is to improve the solo experience to the point where SWF being able to communicate doesn't make as much of a difference, and then balance killers around that
Since you specifically asked for a dev comment, these are all the dev comments I have on file related to voice communications and balancing around them.

Well, I can't promise it will be permanent, but people will get banned for at least a week for that sort of thing if you report them. You can send screenshots of the messages to Support just to make sure they get what they deserve. Because you're right, that kind of thing is unacceptable, and I can confidently say that the devs think so too.

Honestly, they're probably not going to give out any more data, at least not in the near future. In the past, people have either ignored the stats, or tried to use them to promote a certain narrative, either about game balance or about the developers or about another player. The kill rate stats are most infamous for this. Arguments around statistics became just a constant stream of "well the stats say this so you're wrong" and "no they don't, you just don't know how to read statistics". It didn't lead to anything productive.
Basically, most of what the stats did was cause contention and confusion. They didn't help people understand things better, they just made them angry because they thought they knew more about what was going on than they actually did. If you've ever heard the expression "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing", that's basically what I'm talking about.
Just to be clear, I would also love to see more stats just for curiosity's sake. I'm just saying don't expect it to happen, because past experiences have made the devs very reluctant to release any more data publicly, and I don't believe there are any plans to do so currently.

I wouldn't mind if they did, but I don't think they're going to.
If they believed it were in their best interests as a business, they would already be doing this. Since they're not, we can assume that it isn't. And they have to do what is in their best interests as a business, because if the business goes down, the game goes with it.
I also suspect, as popular as this idea is among hardcore players, that there may be a silent majority who only play the game for the new content and care more about that than they do about everything else being perfectly balanced, and who would therefore get bored and drop off very quickly if the new content stopped coming.

The thing is devs never said it is strictly an anti-tunnel perk.
Many people are so hung up on this, when they specifically explained how it is that but that if you get found later on (after being unhooked and not being tunneled) it will come down to a strategy.
DS favors the lore that is literally grabbing a knife and stabbing the killer because the perk is a Laurie perk. Michael never said "Let me make sure I don't tunnel her". It was her stabbing him by any means necessary. I know this doesn't address how people think the perk it is strong, but considering how it worked before it seems fair.
You are never truly going to stop killers from tunneling because part of their job as killer IS tunneling even if every once in a while.
I would be happy if they just took away the condition and made it so that if you run a killer for so many seconds you can use it then because then at least that means that the killer WAS actually tunneling. I can't tell you how many times I've had killers tunnel and gens pop and they still don't care.
Michael tunneled Laurie the whole damn movie.

The devs are always looking to improve things like wait times - that's one of the things they're trying to address with the new MMR system that's about to be introduced. See this post for more information about that: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/124795/status-update-matchmaking-changes
Wait times in lobbies are something that's difficult to directly address, however, because it's actually up to the players, not the developers. By that, I mean that how long you wait in the queue depends entirely on how many other people are playing, and what roles they're queuing for. The more people are online on your platform, in your region and at your rank, and the closer those numbers are to the ideal 80:20 survivor to killer ratio, the shorter your matchmaking times will be. But since the devs can't force people to play their game, and choose not to force people to queue for specific roles, it's not a quick or easy fix.
As mentioned, though, it is nonetheless something they are looking to improve wherever they can. Hopefully that answers your question ๐

That's not the hitbox, that's latency. It's explained how it all works in the video FireHazard linked above. The devs are looking to improve the impact of latency on the game, but it's really not as easy as it sounds, because latency isn't something that can ever be removed entirely.
-
It really depends what you're into. DBD is a fun game, but you need to have a particular kind of attitude to have fun with it.
You need to be okay with losing, because you will lose a lot, especially when you're first starting. If you enjoy games like Dark Souls, that's a good indicator.
You need to be okay with using builds that are good but not necessarily optimal, because it will take you a while to get all the necessary perks for the optimal build, and if you feel like you need those perks, you're going to find the grind very discouraging.
You need to be okay with being screwed over by RNG or circumstances outside your control. If you enjoy games like Hearthstone, that's probably a good sign.
Most of all, you need to be able to keep things in perspective and remind yourself that it's just a game when things don't go so well.
If you are someone who can lose and still have fun, even if the loss was unfair or outside your control, then I would absolutely recommend you give DBD a go. Because as long as you don't require or expect it to be perfectly balanced all the time, it's really a lot of fun.
-
That achievement was designed before perks that stop blood trails, like No Mither and Lucky Break, were introduced. So I'm pretty sure that description is just a poetic way of saying "without being hit". I would encourage you to give it a try, though, and see if it works.
-
Michael Myers is unique in that he can kill healthy or injured survivors. With Rancor, they need to be in the Dying State, and then you approach them and hold down the attack button, the same way as you would if you were using a Mori. You can only do this to the Obsession, and only after the last generator has been completed. It won't work if the gates are powered by closing the hatch.
It's also worth noting, as far as the challenge is concerned, that you don't actually have to use Rancor to kill them, you just have to have it equipped. You can use Devour Hope, or a Mori if you want to - anything that lets you "kill by your hand".
As for your second question, no perk is toxic in itself, and anyone who says otherwise is silly. Sometimes people mistake "surprising" for "toxic", but Rancor isn't even that, since the Obsession gets to see your aura whenever a generator is completed, so they know it's coming.

This was for False Support Tickets, which is different from In-Game Reports.
The entire part that mentions this is strictly about Support Services. If it also meant In-Game Reports than it would've mentioned it.
How different, though? It said it includes false Support Tickets, but both of them go to the same team if I'm not mistaken, so although you're correct in that it's not 100% confirmed, I think it would be a reasonable assumption to make that the same applies to in-game reports.
-
Poised is actually a very underrated perk. You shouldn't be losing games because of it, because it's not the type of perk that needs synergy with others in your build in order to do its job well. So the best advice I can give is to substitute it for the most replaceable perk in your usual build, since that way you're mostly still working with the perks you like and are used to. Remember to take advantage of it and sprint every time a generator is completed, because you can do so without penalty and it will confuse the killer if they're searching for you. Ten seconds is quite a long time in DBD.

Where does it state that false reporting is bannable?
I didn't see that anywhere in the Game Rules, unless I wasn't paying attention.
You must have, because you quoted it. "Penalties include suspension of your support services, up to a permanent ban of your in-game account."
-
False reporting is a bannable offence, but not a reportable one. If this person makes a habit of abusing the report system by reporting people for things that aren't actually bannable, he will be dealt with directly by the Support team. You don't need to do anything about it.
Rest assured though, his report will do absolutely nothing, since he didn't have any evidence to back up his claim and tunneling isn't a bannable offence anyway.
-
The Obsession is a mechanic which is randomly applied to one survivor at the start of the match (although there are various things, such as perks and add-ons, which can affect a survivor's chance of being chosen as the Obsession) when there is an Obsession-related perk in play. It appears as a pair of claws around their icon in the status bar, as illustrated in the image Dwight posted above. As he explained, there are many Obsession perks for both survivors and killers, and any of these being in play will guarantee that someone will be the Obsession. Some of these perks also have the power to change which player is the Obsession, at which point any Obsession-related effects will be transferred to the new Obsession.
There are a lot of different Status Effects, probably too many to list here. I'll explain the ones you mentioned, though.
Exposed means that the survivor can go from healthy to dying with one hit. In some cases this is applied to all survivors, but in others it can be applied to one survivor specifically depending on what mechanics are in play. For example, Devour Hope applies Exposed to all survivors when it reaches three tokens, but Rancor applies Exposed only to the Obsession after the gates are powered. Again depending on the mechanic, sometimes Exposed is permanent while at other times it may only be in play for a limited amount of time.
Cursed means that you are affected by a Hex perk of some kind. On its own, it doesn't do anything except let you know that there is an active Hex perk in play. The only way to get rid of the Cursed Status Effect is to cleanse the associated totem.
As with all Status Effects, both Exposed and Cursed will tell you what is causing them when they are first applied. You can find a list of all the Status Effects in the game and what they do here: https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Status_HUD

- What's wrong with the killer hitbox?
- Tunneling is a legitimate, not to mention effective, strategy. It's just not very fun for survivors. Killers don't need to be held accountable for doing things that aren't fun in order to win the game. There are also survivor perks which can be used to counter tunneling if it's a problem for you.
- You can't ban people for not helping their team. Firstly, because that would mean banning half the new players in the game, which would be a disastrous business move, and secondly, because how would you even monitor people's behaviour closely enough to know if they deserve a ban?
- Griefing other survivors, on the other hand, is bannable, although it's hard to tell whether that's really what they were doing in the situation you described. If they were doing it specifically to get you killed, then that is bannable, but farming and throwing the game are not bannable offences. If you believe they were griefing, you need to have first reported them in the post-game scoring screen, and then submit a support ticket with additional video evidence to back up your report, which you can do at this link here: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=191426
