I'm not going to tell you to "git gud", but I am confused. Why would they go out of their way to disable a perk when you could just... not use it?
-
The other day, I ordered McDonalds through UberEats. There was a significant delay, and the food was cold by the time I got it. I talked to UberEats and explained the situation, and within a few hours they had given me a full refund. I wasn't expecting a refund and I certainly don't believe I was entitled to one, but it did make me feel a lot better about my cold chips, and a lot more confident ordering food the next time.
Should BHVR give us anything? Depends how you define "should". They certainly are under no obligation to do so, and we shouldn't expect anything. Would I, in their place? Yes. It would help to ease some of the disappointment and inconvenience caused, and encourage people to be more forgiving next time. Whether or not the delay was their fault is irrelevant - compensation for inconvenience or dissatisfaction caused is just good PR.

These would be more or less "Attachments" such as the name suggests and you're definitely turning a blind eye if you call one use items for survivors overpowered while killers have access to Mori and other Iridescent addons, You're definitely not fully awake right now
No one is calling one-use items for survivors overpowered. What people are calling overpowered is giving survivors even more powerful addons in addition to the items they already have and the (not inconsequential) addons that go along with those.
-
As others have said, it's a dedicated servers thing. Basically, because the lobby is no longer hosted by the killer but by a third-party server, it's entirely possible for some or all of the survivors to connect to the lobby before the killer loads in. It shouldn't take more than 10-20 seconds, though, in my experience, so you were probably right to leave after 40.
-
That achievement has unfortunately been bugged for a while. I got it by complete accident without even meeting the requirements a couple of months ago. There's nothing I can advise except to wait for it to get fixed, sorry :( It's disappointing and it sucks. I hope you didn't sink too much time into trying to get it.

okay, I found a few. Sorry if they are not pictures but you can find them on his Profile.
"You pretty much answered your own question. We ran the PTB, collecting info on some of the known issues (and found some new ones), and we're now trying to get those fixed. Fixing issues takes time, it's not always as simple as changing a few lines of code. Beyond that, you need to figure out what is causing the issue in the first place (the PTB helps narrow this down greatly).
Again, it's unfortunate, we don't like to be in this position either, but this is what the PTB is for. Had we released the update with those bugs still in the game, you'd have people asking why we bothered with the PTB if we weren't going to fix the bugs that were reported."
"There are bugs that we need to fix before the update can go live. Bugs that would ruin your games and make you not want to play. Bugs that would turn a fun event into a miserable time. I get that it's disappointing to have it delayed, I really do, I'm looking forward to playing it as much as the next guy, but forcing it out before it's ready isn't a good idea. We'll let you know as soon as we have more info."
"Some issues came up when we were getting the update ready- bugs that would not be acceptable if the update went live right now. That's all there really is to it, it's not as interesting as you might think. We just want to make sure it's solid first.
We're hoping to have it out as soon as possible, but I can't give you an exact time yet. We definitely want to make sure it's out before Halloween, though."
"I don't see how the rudeness is necessary. Everyone here is working hard to get it ready as soon as possible. This is one of the biggest updates in a long time combined with an engine update. Some things went wrong and we wouldn't feel comfortable putting the update out in the state it's in. I'm sorry if this is disappointing to you, but shoving the update out the door right now isn't a better option.
As far as the event goes, everything will still be happening according to plan, just slightly after it was originally planned. You won't lose any days, the end date will be shifted back to match."
Interesting, so that does make it sound like the event and update are intrinsically connected, not only mechanically but also in terms of planned release schedule. I got a different impression from the original tweet. Thanks for going out of your way to find those, it was very helpful!

If it's a case of either/or, game improvements would definitely be better. Chapters are nice - functional gameplay is nicer.

I do think Peanits was quoted as saying it was a major bug in the patch and engine update that did it.
Could you link me to the quote? All I've seen him say was that something big went wrong that they had to fix.
-
... Are we all forgetting the fact that they never said the patch was delayed? The event was postponed, that was all.
(Not saying the patch hasn't been delayed, just that there's no evidence for it so it's a bit of a leap to make.)

Thanks again, @Fibijean & @FireHazard
No worries. Enjoy your hoarding 😉

You should receive one ritual each day, if you don't already have three active. So if you cash in those two, you should have another two waiting when you get back. And no, there's no reason to believe that dailies will be removed or in any way affected by the update.

What do you expect them to do, just keep saying "Yeah sorry, still not fixed" every day until there's something to report? That would be a waste of everyone's time, and tells us nothing we don't already know.
In the words of Peanits himself:

What about him just out right being evil that's not scary, jumping on people and disappearing because he's little and quick. That would be scary him just running at you with a knife
I'm saying it would be very difficult to get across the evil factor in a game like DBD. (Just look at Legion.) Just saying "oh but he's really evil" in his lore isn't really scary. The other is a bit more subjective, but personally I wouldn't be scared by an imp in overalls no matter what he's armed with. Not saying it wouldn't work for some people, but for a large proportion of players he would just be a joke.

i was agreeing with you, you know. completely agree if stuff needs to be fixed before release let it happen. don't release if it's going to get messed up. i was just saying a bit more notice would have been better.
My guess would be that they waited so late because they were still doing their best to get it out on time. They probably knew that there was a problem days beforehand, but as long as there was a chance they might still be able to fix it before release, they didn't want to disappoint/upset the players unnecessarily. So they only let us know that there would be a delay once they themselves were sure that they had no other option but to delay it.

If they provide a definitive date, they should stick to it. If they postpone it, they need to supply details as to why. We are.paying customers. We deserve answers. Period.
We made a one-time payment for the privilege of playing their game (and a DRM game at that, so technically we don't even own it). And we all agreed to a EULA which clearly states that we're not entitled to anything beyond that.
We don't "deserve" anything. Period.

Someone link me to an official post proving me wrong if need be, but I don't think they've even confirmed for sure that Doctor is next on the list for changes. So you might be getting a bit ahead of yourself here.
EDIT: My apologies, just came across a comment from Peanits confirming it. I still think it's unlikely that we'll get such specific information now, though. They'll release more information or even a list of changes when they're ready, the way they did with Nurse.

That's true but I'm sure people will still be in an extra BP and getting costumes for free mood....
Sure, but it won't be the same. It won't feel special, it will feel like a bloodhunt/new skin collection, with a mildly disconcerting side of Halloween in November.

@Fibijean Chucky at least sounds like an adult trapped in a doll.
Legion sounds like an annoying teenager.
Yeah, but bear in mind that a lot of Chucky's "scare factor", if you like, comes through his dialogue, which is practically non-existent in DBD.
-
@Rex_Huin said:
Would it really matter if it started in November?
Halloween hype dies down pretty quickly after Halloween itself ends. It wouldn't be the end of the world, but it would feel very out of place. Seasonal events generally need to happen within the season they're themed around in order for anyone to have fun or get excited about them, just for atmospheric reasons. The best way I can describe it is just that no one will be in a Halloween mood anymore when November rolls around.

That's actually pretty good I can't argue against his name, but no survivor can fight anyway , or do you just mean you would be able to Chuck him.
I think he just means that he's not that intimidating. Put in a game like DBD, where people are barely scared of chainsaw-wielding psychopathic cannibals who wear the faces of their victims, a doll killer would feel like an utter joke where atmosphere is concerned.
-
NOED is way too overpowered, just like Autodidact. Remove both from the game with the next patch or I'll be leaving an angry Yelp review.
-
Punishments for DCs are not fully realised but they're definitely in the works. That's one of the reasons why they're trying to get dedicated servers functional, because it allows them to monitor things like that much more closely and punish people more reliably.
If people are being abusive in post game chat, report them. I don't know precisely how they handle tickets, but I do know that they can view the chat logs, and abuse in postgame is bannable.

Which protection hits does WGLF supposed to count towards? Because not all stacks count for that either. And it doesn't quite explain why sometimes a stack will work doing the same thing, yet another time, doesn't count... so.... yea... definitely confusing... Hopefully they look into it, and explain it better to people.
Who even knows at this point. I've gotten stacks on WGLF by pulling off a pallet save in the past.

Mate. I am close to 2000 hours in the game. I know my values and have learnt how this game works and changed over the past four years.
That's good for you. The wording of your original post (saying you were "confused and frustrated" for example) made it sound as though you didn't understand how the emblems work or why you didn't pip in that situation. I was just trying to help.
-
Incidentally, I like to go by the motto of "expect the worst and you won't be disappointed". Try to think about what's the latest they could possibly release the patch, and tell yourself that that's when it's going to happen. That way, you can't be disappointed, and if it happens sooner you'll just be pleasantly surprised.
-
The system increases in difficulty the higher you get in ranks. So if you're talking red or even purple ranks, it's possible that all that wouldn't always be enough to pip, depending on what else goes on in the game.
It's worth noting that:
(a) cleansing totems does not award very many points
(b) the emblem system doesn't care about self-healing
(c) the unbroken emblem doesn't care about how long you lasted without being downed, and it only cares how long you were alive if you don't escape
So all of those things, and more, could have affected your ability to pip. For example, if you die that's an automatic silver or lower in unbreakable, which means at red ranks you would need a minimum of two iridescents and a gold in the other categories to pip at all.
If you're really concerned about ranking up, it's a good idea to learn how the system works so you know what is and is not a valuable use of your time as far as the emblem system is concerned.

I know that the devs are obviously busy working on fixing whatever issue is causing the delay but surely it can't be that hard to just make a post saying "Sorry, we are still unsure when the update will be ready to release."
If they were sure, they would tell us. So, we can safely assume that silence means they are still unsure and have nothing to report.
An update would be nice, yes, but if they're not giving one that means there's no update to give. If they feel confident enough to give an ETA, I expect they'll give one. Otherwise, we'll know what there is to be known as soon as the situation is stable enough for them to issue some kind of further statement.

I guess i've just got used to people starting a riot instead of just giving concerns or active, constructive feedback. I try to keep all of my interactions with people as positive as I can, unless they just flat out refuse to listen to me, that tends to get me rather annoyed... even more so i'd they are just saying that just cause I play Killer I am against Survivor buffs or things like that... anyway, I'm getting of topic.
Yeah, I am sorry if it felt like I was being judgmental or accusatory.

Not quite that long, surely. BannedCat has only been here about 7-8 months I think.
I was not a fan of Lowbei. He was funny, but mostly in a so-over-the-top-toxic-he-has-to-be-trolling kind of way. I'm cautious of derailing this thread, though, so I'll say no more.

Oh, i'm not really assuming the worst of anyone.
Let me explain, as context is really hard to take from text. I put that in here, just to make sure no one was being rude. Tht was it. It was the clearest answer I had seen from a dev and figured it would help everyone to know that had not seen it.
The mention of "ABannedCat" was about 90% a joke as I didn't even know Wicked that much and wouldn't expect for them to say anything back even if it was.
I promise I am not assuming the worst of anyone, and try to keep a positive outlook about everyone here, till they give me a reason not too. Does it make more sense now?
That makes sense, I think it just didn't come across very positive to begin with. If people are just discussing their concerns, though, it's probably not necessary to preemptively make sure no one is being rude. It tends to make people feel like you're accusing them of something.
Glad to hear you're trying to keep things positive, though. We need more of that around here.

Every week, they post on their social media what the shrine perks for that week are. This week, their post didn't match the perks that are actually in the game. I saw alot of people being rude over the delay and that post I pot DIRECTLY tells you what happened.
There may be a lot of people being rude, but the OP of this thread was not one of them. Posting that comment everywhere that even mentions the delay because there are some people who are being rude about it is at best unfair and unproductive, and at worst derailing the thread for no reason.
Also, @ABannedCat isn't dodging anything. They have been around here for quite a while, and the "banned" part in their name has nothing to do with these forums.
Just generally, please stop assuming the worst of everyone. It's not as helpful as you think it is.

Those are stored differently; it won't happen for stuff from The Archives. We've improved the way we handle rewards since those early events.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/776792#Comment_776792
Between the challenges and casually playing, with the daily first match bonuses included, you should be able to finish the Rift without having to grind. As long as you play regularly, you should have no problem. You don't have to play a ton, even just playing a couple matches per day will do.
I assume you guys have also done the maths, and that's how you came up with the 70-80 hours estimate. Players looking at the PTB also tried to calculate how much time it would realistically take to complete all the challenges, taking into account things like disconnects, waiting times, matches generally not going according to plan etc. and concluded that the time taken would be 100 hours at a minimum.
I think the thing that's puzzling most people (@Boosted_Dwight included, from the little interaction I've had with him about it) is where that discrepancy comes in. Would it be possible to shed a bit more like on how the 70-80 hours figure was reached? Is there something that we didn't take into account in our calculations, either because we missed it or because we simply don't have enough information yet?
I'm in the same boat, I was super hopeful about this update until all these questions started to be raised. I would love to think that there's something I'm just not seeing that might alleviate the worry a bit.

What's the intended interaction?
I would assume the intention is that (a) whoever actually completes the interaction first should "win", and (b) that both players should see what's going on in real time so that there's no latency and it doesn't feel unfair the way it does currently.
I could be wrong, that's just what seems to make the most logical sense as a design goal.
-
Basically, the colours refer to your personal repair speed, rather than the speed at which the generator itself is being repaired. If you are repairing at normal speed (on your own, with no perks or items affecting progress) the bar will be white. If you are repairing faster than usual (because you are using a toolbox, or because you are being affected by a performance-boosting perk such as Spine Chill, Prove Thyself, or Resilience, for example) the bar will be yellow. If you are repairing slower than usual (because of perks like Dying Light or Thanatophobia, or because you are repairing with another survivor) the bar will be red.
The reason that the bar is red when repairing cooperatively in spite of the fact that the generator progress is faster overall is because each survivor receives a penalty to repair speed of 10% when working with others. This means that although the generator is being repaired at a faster speed than it would be if you were working on it alone, it is not being repaired as efficiently. You personally are only working at 90/80/70% efficiency (depending on how many others are working with you) hence the red bar.
-
I play survivor almost exclusively, the main reason being that when I play the game it's almost always with friends. If I played by myself more often (as used to be the case back when I was so into DBD that I couldn't get enough of it) I would probably play more a mix of the two, because I don't have anything really against playing killer, it's more a matter of circumstance than anything else.
-
I don't have much to add to what everyone else has said, except that "accidental" tunnelling is not a thing. Tunnelling, by definition, is intentional.
-
@WhattheHeck said:
The event End is still first November?
No, Peanits confirmed that the event was just being moved, not shortened. So it will still end 11 days after it starts, whenever that ends up being.
-
Sure it would be scarier, but the entire game has been balanced around survivors being in third-person. I'd try it out for fun, but I'd never consider actually playing that way. It would be practically suicidal.
-
I don't mind the wait, honestly. It's disappointing, sure, but it happens I guess.
For many people it just feels like the last straw, after weeks of being more or less kept in the dark, with minimal communication about the event and upcoming patch, only to have... something (we still don't know what precisely they're counting as part of the event and what is part of the update)... delayed at the last minute due to vague, unconfirmed reasons.
-
It's hard to say, having not seen the messages before that, but to me he doesn't sound salty. He sounds like someone who was actually telling the truth about his intentions, and got angry at essentially being called a liar and a sore loser. Not saying everything he said there was justified, but imo neither was your response.
In any case, I legitimately thought this was going to be a wholesome appreciation post when I clicked on it. Feelsbad.
-
Problem is, what they tweeted in no way suggests that they're fixing the patch content. "The Withering Blight event is postponed until the release of the mid-chapter 3.3.0". That makes it sound like The Archives, as part of the mid-chapter, have always been set to be released at a later date, and it's only the event specifically that's been delayed until then.
It's a pretty confusing statement, so I could be wrong, but I don't think that the optimistic attitude of "well, clearly they're fixing things up with the patch" or "I'm fine with a delay if it means they release something more polished", while comforting, really has any basis in what they've actually said.

@VSLI It feels like they want to contain the damage until they can showcase something concrete. But in doing so, they are loosing crediblity instead.
Pretty much. That would be my guess - that they're worried about saying anything for fear that they'll say the wrong thing and disappoint us because nothing is set in stone. But it's gotten to the point where the level of disappointment and dissatisfaction at the lack of communication has surpassed anything that a proper address from the developers could incite, regardless of what they say.
At any rate, I commend you for giving voice to the concerns of many in such a reasonable, constructive way. Really hit the nail on the head, in my opinion - the problem isn't just the lack of communication, which is in many ways understandable. It's that the stated intentions, to listen to player feedback, to include us in the discussion, etc., aren't lining up with the actions of late.

Um, you realize enough people complained about milking the plants that the serum is on the rift thing now right? So that directly ties the patch and the event together...
As I said, I believe what's being said is that they are linked thematically, not mechanically. So the event, with the petals and such, was a separate release from the Archives, skins, serum, etc. However, looking back at the event announcement, the distinction as to which Halloween features are specifically tied to the 11-day event and which are tied to the patch is extremely murky, particularly in light of this recent tweet. I said what I said because it was the only thing that seemed to make sense, but now it's hard to know what to think.

As dissapointed I am as everyone else is I rather then delay to fixup the patch rather then releasing a buggy one.
@ASurvkillivorer said:
Yup, I was SOOO ready to start the archives and the event.
It's not actually the patch that was delayed, as far as I can tell. They said that the event had been delayed, and would now be released alongside the patch. That makes it sound like the patch was due to be released later than the 22nd, after the start of the event, and the event has now been pushed back so it will be released alongside the patch.
So the only thing that's been delayed due to unforseen circumstances is the "burn pustula petals to spawn special generators/hooks for bonus bloodpoints" thing. That's all there was to the event, as distinct from the Archives. The event and the skins/vials (which are part of the patch) aren't actually connected except thematically.
[EDIT: "That's all there was to the event, as distinct from the Archives".]
