  • I had a match on RPD against a 3 genning Knight. We had a DC but that was fine, we were slowly pressuring two different gens. Yes he was kicking the gens over and over not chasing, but we were gaining progress faster than he was regressing it.

Then I notice Jane misplayed at a pallet loop (she got greedy going for another loop), and she predictably starts trying to die on her first hook. She gets rescued but doesn't attempt to run, and puts us to two survivor's, and eventually we lose.

That tilted me quite a bit because I was trying for the RPD achievement too and we were winning, but she didn't want to play anymore so screw the rest of us I guess.

  • Unfortunately Michael is a licensed killer, so from what I understand, any possible changes to his power that are not bug fixes have to be vetted by the license holders.

Meaning, yeah he will probably not be getting charged for a long time. I'm still salty they removed stalking in tier 3, it had a unique red visual and was useful for finding immersed claudettes in bushes.

  • While I do agree that CoH is currently the strongest boon, I think people misunderstand why it is so strong, other than unlimited healing.

The biggest weakness to boons at the moment is totem spawn rng. A lot of them are supposed to give you an advantage in the chase, so they depend on being placed somewhere the killer can't easily patrol through and randomly find and snuff it, but still close enough to the action that the killer can't remove it from their patrol path and ignore it.

CoH is the only boon that does not care where you place it. it will still provide value for your team by giving you unlimited self healing, and placing it away from the killer's patrol path is actually preferable. So it usually never gets snuffed like the other 3 boons.

  • I managed to get Spirit and Hag adepts, but even with a merciless and 4k I didn't get Dredge or Oni.

    My details

    Platform: PC (STEAM)

    Steam ID64: 76561198233205680

  • I couldn't care less about them removing a bug that technically made the Twins stronger. It's a bug, and unintentional.

However, this killer has had detrimental and game-breaking bugs for many months now, and we have heard next to no word of a possible fix on the horizon. Meanwhile, this switching bug didn't even make it to live from the PTB.

I understand that this might have been a lot more easy bug to fix, while the older ones are still needing more time. But the message that is currently being sent to players is not a very pleasant one.

This is holding the game hostage and bannable

No, it isn't taking the game hostage, since the match is in EGC and will end in 3 minutes.

I'm assuming that the Victor was being controlled as opposed to being idle? In that case he made the smart play, because if he can't down you then Charlotte may not not be able to make it over in time to stop the gate from being open.

hm. I could record with playstation easily enough, but I've never done it on the PC; whats the easiest way to set it up? Any ideas?

If you have an AMD GPU, then you can set up recording with Radeon Software. You don't have to have it forever, just turn it on to grab a clip of obvious cheating and then you can turn it off.

Most hackers start the match without being obvious, until eventually the decide to make it blatant. You can just keep following them and then stop moving, so they think you gave up. This is usually when they decide to start taunting by running super fast or auto blinding you.

I use this time to turn on my recording just to grab the clip for a report. The devs need you to file an ingame report so they know what match is in question. This gets around anonymous mode and playing on an Epic Games key as well.

  • The major use for blinding a killer is to get them to drop a survivor, any time you waste trying to blind a killer at a pallet is less time and distance you gain running as they break the pallet.

As a survivor there is no situation that you make "no noise at all".

Your character always makes breathing noises, as well as footsteps while running. You also make noise when you disturb grass, and some surfaces like mud and wooden floors are much louder to walk on.

This is intentional design to allow killers to hunt and start chases with survivors; it's the reason injured survivors are very loud, and why the in-game music is so quiet outside of chases.

  • Not gonna lie, that demogorgon interaction is making me wish so hard for a rework of his portals where he abducts survivors and takes them to the upside down rather than going for hooks.

Point of Distortion is to counter aura perks so you don't need to hide in a locker. Devs can adjust it by 1 second to counter Lethal Pursuer.

That is a very close-minded way of interpreting the perk. When I used Distortion before it could be replenished, the most useful thing about it was being able to figure out what perks the killer is running.

Knowing for certain that the killer does/doesn't have a perk like BBQ is a massive amount of information that changes your decision-making when somebody gets hooked. It means you know that he will try to outplay you at windows with "I'm all ears". Even knowing about "Lethal Pursuer" is good to know, that somebody is gonna be chased and it probably won't be you on first hook.

  • I logged into Overwatch today since it's getting revamped to Overwatch 2 in a couple days, and was greeted with a message that I will get cross-progression from my Xbox account from 2014 - 2016 (I haven't owned an xbox since 2019). Thats was a pleasant surprise to see.

I know Overwatch is run by a AAA studio, but it would be nice if it helps set a precedent for other games like DBD going forward.

It wasn't an instantaneous transition from awake to dreaming. You had to charge the meter to full to pull a survivor into the dream world, and if they left your LOS for even an instant during this, the meter would reset.

No, this is flat out wrong. I was a Freddy main back in 2018, and the dream transition only needed to touch a survivor to pull them into the dream world. It would even lock onto survivors that were behind walls (although it wouldn't put them to sleep without LOS first) which made Freddy the best killer to counter stealthy survivors, bar none but Doctor.

Now once that transition started, there was a minimum time that you had to wait before you could hit a survivor (7 seconds at base) which is probably what you may be confusing this with. But this constant LOS condition is nonsense, pretty much the opposite.

  • I believe the Twins are up next for the mid chapter PTB, so hopefully we get some good stuff.

Regarding your post though, Charlotte can recall Victor after 30 seconds, so the only reason a survivor has Victor for 2 minutes is if the killer choose not to recall him. Which can be a tactic to use at times, as that survivor is not doing gens or anything useful for a long time.

  • If you are on steam, you can look at players you have recently faced. It will show you all other players in your last match:

    image.png

You do have to use some deduction some times if multiple people have anonymous mode on, but you'll at least find all other 4 people you played with.

Of course, this doesn't work with cross-play players (I had a console survivor teammate this match), but it's something to be aware of.

@MikaelaWantsYourBoon and @TheGannMan bring up good points, mate.

One of the few things in life you can always be sure of, is that no one knows that killer better than I do. I cannot deny the existence of weaknesses, nor the necessity to address them with small QoL improvements.

However, to say he was a contender for the weakest killer is simply...wrong. The strength was always there, but not everyone was willing to put in the effort to say it.

But anyway, the idea here is to bring him back with the QoL changes, so it doesn't really matter.

@GeneralV What were some of your favourite parts of old Freddy? I ask as a fellow old Freddy main.

Mine was throwing on double range addons and sweeping his projection left and right across the map. It would lock onto survivors even through walls, so nobody could ever hide from Freddy.

And the over 30m range meant that the 7 seconds was not a downside since they would be asleep when Freddy was close enough to hit them anyway.

  • Does anyone remember the legendary scriptures of Evil Dwight?

I would never play like that myself, but perks like Self-Preservation do exist in the game now.

  • I've been a David main since 2018, when the Huntress DLC released on Xbox for the first time. I don't remember who I mainly played before the Huntress.

It mostly was just due to rushing to unlock WGLF to help with grinding, especially back when it was up to 300% BP at full stacks. since I already had it at Tier 3 for David, instead of waiting to find WGLF again in the bloodweb I just decided to play him full time.

When I moved to PC, David was once again my first and main survivor, and the majority of the Auric Cells I occasionally buy tend to go to his outfits. Though I do play other survivors now instead of being a full time King.

  • Imagine a world where you can avoid cooldowns by instantly switching to the other Twin.

Hit someone with Charlotte, swap to Victor while she wipes her weapon.Finish the down with Victor, swap back to Charlotte with no wake up stun so you can walk over and hook the survivor while Victor catches his breath for 5 seconds. You no longer would feel like you have to slug to avoid an 8 second cooldown swapping to Charlotte.

It's such a simple and elegant change, and would fix so many issues both sides have with the Twins.

I think they mean if you have the mute unfocused option on, it mutes the game if you are alt-tabbed out. Handy for when you hate having to hear moris, killers slapping on hook, or otherwise obnoxious death sounds. Also for not having to listen to random killer noises or the fire crackling while waiting for a match.

Even still, I'm positive this is how it already works. I have "Mute focus" turned on right now, and I hear no noise until the loading screen is done. Once the match starts, alt-tabbing mutes the whole application as normal.

  • Better yet, stop instantly mending as soon as Legion so much as glances in another direction. I have caught so many survivors in dead zones that just assume I'm going to leave them alone, and I have seen the same thing happen with my teammates as survivor.

Just get yourself safe to a loop until you know he isn't chasing you, and if you are going to mend in a dead zone, at least try to break line of sight first.

Right let me be clearer. I never stated i was getting face camped/tunnelled every single game. I do state this in my post. But im seeing it every single game now. Thus it is a starter for discussion, and as you have chosen to discus it, you also must think its a topic for discussion.

But if you have only witnessed it 10% of the time, then you must be very very lucky, or for some reason im being put into an MMR rating with endless campers.

Once again, this is not happening to ME in every game. But i am witnessing it, EVERY GAME where no one has dc'd barring some exceptions. And even people being camped on hook are disconnecting.

My definition of camping, or in my case face camping, is when the killer is standing a few yards from the hook and not moving. Camping is patrolling a small area around the hook.

    In response to why

1 - Some of these killers had 2-4k hours on the game. Nurses that could down people extremely easily are an example from tonight.

2 - I agree, except the majority are killers with 2-4k hours as stated above. If i looked at their steam profile and saw under 300 hours, i wouldnt care. But these are experienced players. I myself have 2.5k hours on the game.

3 - I dont care about tunnelling, it happens and i am good enough to loop long enough for another 1-2-3 gens to get done and/or take hits and go down for the person being tunnelled.

Yes ive heard about the new perk coming out but that requires others to run it. Unless there is something else i havent heard of?

"Simple question. Every single killer ive faced this week has face camped me or others in my game."

This is literally copy/pasted from your first opening paragraph of your discussion. Anecdotal or not, people won't see you as genuine when you contradict yourself.

As for your question, some killers will just camp because its a reliable way to get at least one kill, even if it isn't a good way to get multiple kills. And if you're gonna camp at all, doing it straight away at 5 gens is the best time to do it, as it will usually punish a team that doesn't realise straight away that they need to rush gens.

Just keep running Kindred in the mean time, and Reassurance is coming soon, and while it is a band-aid, at least it is a strong band-aid.

  • Those killers would still be camping regardless of the nerf.

Killers could already see their NOED totem, to somehow assume that a nerf to the totem would increase the number of campers is kind of reaching.

That’s exactly what devs did last patch, but killers play as before

Because it is still the most effective way to kill people, by a huge margin. In some games against equally skilled survivors it is the only way to gain pressure back. Developers need to make massive adjustments for this not to be the case.

If they are doing that at 5 gens, i think something wrong with them. Especially after DS was gutted by BHVR.

It can be hard to gauge the flow of a match sometimes. Sometimes I'll feel like things are going slowly and I can try going for 12 hooks, and then all of a suddenly the last 2 gens pop at once, only a couple people are on death hook and the exit gates are being opened.

If I just decide to play hard from the get-go instead of trying to make it a fun game with 12 hooks, I would probably get more wins, and it sure does get tempting to do so when you get teabagged at the exit gates.

  • This bug is still present in the PTB, so it might not be a priority fix right now.

Regardless, you already get 7k BP for escaping, so I would not to waste time farming this all match unless you are certainly going to die.

  • I would prefer if perks were all sorted alphabetically regardless of tier. Or if we can't have that, let us filter perk by each tier, instead of having 5-6 pages.

What would also be nice is if they could add a search bar where you can type the name of a perk, so you don't waste time looking for a perk you don't have.

I understand that, but why would losing matter to people who do it purely out of spite for the other side?

You are imagining Tunnelling and Camping as its current state in the game. In this hypothetical scenario it might be actually become impossible to camp hooks and tunnel off hooks. Again, if 12 hooking become the best way to win, then there is nothing stopping the devs from going nuclear on camping and tunnelling.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3124272#Comment_3124272

    I agree.

What about the people who do it solely to ruin other people's games?

My last sentence was, in this hypothetical scenario, that those people would lose everytime. Because if 12 hooks was viable, then camping and tunneling can be adjusted.

  • @PNgamer said:

    yo,

they must finally understand and accept that.

If I choose to tunnel or camp a survivor as a killer, that is my own decision for which BHVR is not responsible. Tunneling and camping are parts of the game, it's as simple as that.

Fact: BHVR can develop tools that make tunneling and camping less effective and that's a good thing, but you can't remove tunneling and camping from the game entirely, because that would be too much of an intrusion into the killer's game.

Yes, it can be frustrating as a survivor, but you can't and shouldn't prevent it.

    Greetings

You are right in that BHVR doesn't control your decision to camp or tunnel. What they can do is balance the game so that your decision to so is the worst one to choose if you actually want to win.

BHVR needs to make going for 12 hooks not just viable, but the most effective way to win. Most killers don't want to tunnel just to be mean, they do it because they want to win. If the game was balanced in a way that going for 12 hooks was majorly better at getting a win than camping, I guarantee that most camping/tunneling would stop.

And the few that do still camp/tunnel would be guaranteed to lose nearly every time.

  • Most killers tunnel because they want to win the match, not because they specifically hate a certain player (I say most, because there are Killers with vendettas on certain players).

If a match is going slowly and I don't feel like I need to, I usually won't tunnel. But if I start getting pressured hard, and I have a survivor in front of me that is on their last hook, then I have no issue tunneling them out to pressure the survivors again. Tunneling is a balance issue; not a community issue. It's up to the Devs to make camping/tunneling unappealing.

They have made good strides in this recently. "No Way Out" is a good perk that rewards hooking every other survivor once, Off the Record is a great perk, and you can no longer hit a survivor who is being unhooked and down them before they can run away. I used to hit survivors who had been unhooked to test if the rescuer had Borrowed Time; I no longer do this because it doesn't work anymore, that is good game balance.

There is still more that should be done,of course. Reducing D-Strikes duration was a stupid change. I also think hook grabs should be removed (or at least let a second survivor unhook while the first gets grabbed), because the hooked survivor shouldn't be punished for having dumb teammates that let stand offs happen.

I will still do the standoff as killer though, because getting a grab on a healthy survivor that is near a hooked survivor is really powerful. If it was removed then I would stop doing it, and the survivor would either run away (and I now have someone to chase) or trade places on the hook instead of gazing into my eyes while the timer ticks down.

Seriously, if the Developers make it so killers are more likely to win by going after new targets, tunneling/camping will pretty much disappear. You will still have some nasty people who will tunnel, but the majority would stop if they win more games by NOT doing it.

  • It's called a Visceral Canker, it was originally introduced for the first Hallowed Blight event, and then was used in Tome 5 in the Archives for the second Blight event.

Here is what it looks like on my screen:

    image.png

I've already completed the challenge, but if a survivor has access to that archive, and didn't complete the challenge, they can still select it if they go back to Tome 5 in the compendium.

It's basically just an easier version of Glyph challenges.

  • Are you counting escape rates for all 4 survivors or only 1 survivor? This is an extremely important distinction to make.

Otherwise you can have a scenario where 1 survivor might have led the killer on a 5 gen chase, and went down because eventually they ran out of pallets. The rest of the survivors escape, killer only gets 1 kill, and has a miserable 75% escape rate.

What would you want the devs to do about this situation, though? Because if for some reason you don't count a solo survivor as part of a team, then apparently the devs should add more pallets so he can escape.

Who cares if he won the game. He died, which is a big no no.

I've stated before that I only play solo survivor, but If it lets 2 or more survivors get out then I don't mind dying on the hook. Because I don't count escape rates as being the same as winrates.

It wasnt BT basekit. It was 5 seconds, which doesnt leave you enough time to get up the basement stairs.

Borrowed Time still exists you know. Its even been buffed now when coupled with the speed boost. or are you telling me that you are expecting survivors you rescue to walk up the stairs with BT?

Otherwise run Off the Record. My new favourite perk as solo Q as it solves the one issue that is actually true regarding tunnelling; its now a fairer chase where you get 2 health states in your next chase instead of just 1.

There might be one or two exceptions to that rule.

And Bubba is not one of them.

So... you don't actually have a reason then?

I said I agreed with most of your list, and genuinely wanted to know what I possibly missed in all my hours playing Bubba. He was one of my main killers is all.

  • Don't think you can actually "buy" the game on steam anymore, even if its F2P. The game has been unlisted since god knows how long, and I never played it when it was available. Still was a neat idea, killed by its publisher really.

    -Old character models

    -Old add-ons

    You know what?

The whole damn thing, except Old Legion, Old MoM and...Old Dead Hard? I guess we can say that now.

I agree with a few things you listed, but why on earth would you miss old Bubba?

His chainsaw was worthless to use unless you ran PWYF, but nowadays his chainsaw is fun to learn, rewards putting practice into it and is actually more dangerous in chases.

Only thing Bubba could do before was facecamp at 99% charge without worrying about tantruming, which nobody should really be sad is gone either.

  • I believe Iron Will deserved the nerf, but disagree with how it was done, exhaustion is a bit overkill.

I think it would be nice if Iron Will reduced the distance a killer could hear an injured survivor, similar to technician and working on gens. Or if it also reduced the audio of uninjured survivors.

  • Might be because of the hours I put into Re2, but I can usually navigate the map just fine, its actually more open in some ways. Figuring out all gen spawns on this map in DBD however, does sound painful.

Otzdarva, Hexy, Umbra, Dowsey, TrueTalent, ScottJund, ZubatLEL, OhTofu and many others didnt have any problems to win most of their games unless they used obvious meme builds.

Also is JRM dying in most of his matches.

Content creators play a lot more often than regular people, and are thus more likely to win a lot of matches. But Otzdarva, Tru3, and OhTofu have plenty of matches where they have really hard matches or outright lose.

Otz and Tofu even upload matches to YouTube where they fail terribly (Tru3 does as well, though most of his YouTube content is VODs from his stream) so its not true to say that they never have difficult matches.

    Ah, lol.

Tell me something, do you think the rise in cheaters in this game this week is all the players that were suiciding-on-hook and DCing from last week. I really honestly think that the players BHVR has alienated in this patch have started using cheats to intentionally ruin the game.

Well in that case, those "alienated" players are children who just hate losing, and are not the people devs should ever try to cater the game to. I play exclusively solo Q when I play surv, and while I die a bunch of times, resorting to cheating is the lowest thing anyone can do in any PVP game.

The wiki datamines all of its numbers and has been doing that for years, its admins have confirmed that several times in the DBD Discord or on Reddit when asked about that. They only list sources for information they got from outside the game, anything else is either from the game code or from the devs.

Edit: I'm pretty sure anything with cooldown can be understood as cooldown duration, since the devs use recovery otherwise.

After reading some more information about the wiki, I am now trusting it substantially more, especially after seeing some devs in its userbase. I'm satisfied with this answer now, though I still wish there was more consistency with how perk descriptions are written.

  • @GrimReaperJr1232 said:

    According to the wiki?

Before the patch, the cooldown at 8 stacks would be 1.8 seconds.

As of now, the cooldown at 8 would be 1.62 seconds. At 7, it would be 1.75, which is roughly the same as it used to be.

I am specifically asking if anyone other than the wiki knows for certain, since the wiki does not post sources (or if it does, they don't seem to be listed on the page for STBFL).

  • This seems like a bug. Have you been able to confirm this in a live game? Kill your Friends is notorious for being buggier than the regular matches.

  • I like to pair it with Lethal Pursuer on Pinhead. You get to figure out where the box is at the start of the match, and BBQ will help you narrow down where it is again based on current surv locations.

Sometimes BBQ will help you see a survivor beelining somewhere with no objectives, so you can pretty much assume they are going for the box.

  • I am pretty much 100% solo queue nowadays, and I'm nowhere near the best survivor, but I do feel like I have good game sense. Here are my two cents:

Dealing with killers directly has been easier to be honest. You no longer need BT as a requirement to save survivors from face camps, and Off the Record effectively means you get to start your second chase with two health states if they come back to hook and tunnel. It also makes it possible to escape the basement yourself with Deliverance, which is insane for stopping basement parties.

Dead hard was nerfed, but I didn't really use it anyway. Decisive Strike duration nerf is a little painful, but I would rather have Off the Record over the 5 second stun anyway. Also no longer works at endgame, which is fair since the killer has no choice but to camp the hook by then, but worth mentioning since SWFs might value their friends escaping over themselves.

I do notice with Kindred that alot of survivors seem to just... give up. Or at least are wasting time doing nothing. I have legit watched as someone gets hooked, and at least one of the survivors will just abandon their gen and never come back to it. I have had Pain Resonance trigger on my gen that I had just start working on with around 15-20% progress.

Like excuse me, is nobody doing gens anymore? Yes the gens have been nerfed by 10 seconds, but what that pretty much means is that instead of popping a gen when the first surv goes down, you pop a gen as they get picked up and carried to the hook.

  • BBQ is still going to be good on fast killers, but I know for a fact I'll be removing it from some of my other builds on slower killers.

Still though, there are so many ways to counter BBQ it's kind of funny. Here is some ways to beat BBQ:

    1. Hide in a locker, wait for hook cloud to go away.
    2. Crouch behind a gen, keeping it between you and the hook.
    3. If near the downed survivor, hover around the edge of the killers terror radius, BBQ only sees you within 40m so you have 8m leeway.
    4. Misdirect the killer by running one way in a straight line, then double back and go the other way.
    5. Not really a counter but if you are REALLY far away (100m or more) , some killers might not even bother coming towards you. If they do, the hooked survivor is basically guaranteed a free save.

Now here are some perks that can help beat BBQ:

    1. "Distortion". Hides your aura, ultimate counter. Also lets you confirm for certain if the killer is actually running BBQ.
    2. "Off the Record". You are immune to aura reading for 80 seconds after being unhooked, and that doesn't deactivate on conspicuous actions.
    3. "Boon: Shadowstep". Hides auras, pretty straightforward. You always know where it is as well.
    4. "Kindred" Tells you if the killer is actually heading in your direction, so you can get ready to run instead of waiting for their terror radius.
    5. "Sprint Burst". If you know the killer is heading your way, then SB guarantees you'll be long gone when they get there. Misdirecting the killer is even stronger with SB as well.
    6. "Object of Obsession". When your aura is revealed, then you will see the killer's aura as well. Like kindred, this can tell you if the killer is headed your direction.
    7. "Sole Survivor". This is very niche, but it hides your aura for every dead/out of match survivor, up to 72m. If you are in a hatch standoff and your last teammate just got hooked then you can hide by an exit gate and most likely won't be spotted, then you can open the gate super quick when the hatch is shut.

There are probably more things that you can beat BBQ with, and I do not recommend all the perks listed (Object is basically a free BBQ every 30 seconds) but you do have ways to counter it if you really don't like it. Myself, I like that it rewards the killer for leaving the hook and not camping, but not everyone agrees clearly.

  • Last time I checked, Legion still has to actually down you to win the game.

Assume everyone gets healed twice after being unhooked in a normal game, and that's at minimum 32 seconds you and/or another survivor did not spend on each gen. You notice it's a legion and decide to do the smart thing and not heal? Thanataphobia has added 25.38 seconds to each gen. Yes, it's annoying, but everyone needs to be injured for that to happen.

If you are split up away from your teammates the Legion will find it very difficult to injure more than 2 people at a time in Frenzy. Also, believe it or not you can still heal against Legion as long as you aren't stupid about it, and not constantly wasting time healing just to then immediately letting yourself get hit again.

And Legion is still an M1 killer. Yes They are basically a 1 shot killer (with extra steps) but they have no other chase tools besides being kinda short. SF/Enduring exists, but most maps usually have enough pallets. You don't need to insta-throw pallets, just don't be greedy with them.

  • Meanwhile, despite the BP bonus stating otherwise, my first survivor game has taken over 2 minutes to find a match. Not long really, but in comparison Killer took me around 20 seconds.

To be fair though I am in the oceanic region and its past midnight at the moment.
