  • I like to use the perk I'm All Ears.

At windows and jungle gyms it can get you hits that otherwise would have been near impossible to mindgame and predict as killer. No survivor ever expects this perk either so you won't see people trying to counter it. Legion only needs to outplay survivors once after they are injured which paired with their shortness, this perk really shines on them. It even helps a little if you frenzies too early and survivors try to juke you when you can't see their scratches.

This perk is awesome and I'm surprised nobody mentioned it already.

  • As a chase killer I think Bubba is pretty good now.

He now has the most reliable instadown in the game, at least compared to other killers with instadowns. I do think Oni and Billy are better due to their mobility, and Michael and Ghostface fill their niche as a stealthy killers, but Bubba has his power available from the start and is much more easy to understand. he even stole some of Billy's tricks like fake revving and pallet breaking after getting stunned with Enduring.

The fact that he can hit multiple people means he is still great at defending hooks, and I've found he can even hit through BT and still catch up to hit you again with the saw, due with that info as you will. I feel he destroys pallets faster than any other killer in the game, so removing survivor defenses and creating deadzones with an instadown should speak for itself.

His main weakness is a lack of mobility and tracking, so he really has to rely on getting into chases and winning those chases fast to generate pressure. Slugging with Infectious fright is quite effective, you can continue your sprint after downing somebody and be right be behind somebody else to threaten them as well, and with the increased speed you can catch people through sprint burst. Windows are probably his biggest weakness in a chase but even then at 5.29 m/s with 3 charges you can pull off some mindgames at a few windows.

Honestly I'm happy with Leatherface now. He always should have been more dangerous in chase to make up for not being able to sprint like Hillbilly. Is he the best killer in the game, of course not. but I think he fills his niche much more effectively than before.

  • I agree that its rare to face a 4 man squad that wants to rush gens and make the killer depip, but SWF groups of at least 2 are fairly common. I check people's friends lists on steam before the match starts and that usually confirms who is playing together, and in my region names become familiar as well so you can put 2 and 2 together when you keep meeting the same group of people over and over.

Solos are definitely a large part of the player base however, I play both sides and run solo survivor most of the time frequently, so if their is a SWF in my lobby it probably isn't more than a pair on average I'd say...

  • Enduring is great for new Bubba, it suits his new play style so well.

When you are at a pallet loop you start revving the saw. If they throw the pallet you break it quickly, if they keep running you will either catch them or break it quickly the next loop around, and with Enduring you don't give a damn about getting stunned.

A trick with Enduring you can do is if you get stunned while revving the saw it doesn't reset the charge to 0% straight away, so you can rev up the chainsaw from 50% charge to break the pallet super quick.

I wouldn't run NOED or one shot perks in general simply because of how reliable it is to use the chainsaw now. Perks to help snowball like Infectious Fright are good picks, or fun perks like Tinkerer to one shot people on gens with no warning.

Windows do cuck you a lot with getting chainsaw hits, and while I think some loops you are fast enough to mind-game with the chainsaw, Bamboozle is a choice to consider to shorten those loops.

Well i play on PS4 it might have to do something with that.

Ah okay, I play on PC myself. Perhaps it's a glitch only found on the console version then, since @FilledPizza mentioned they also have this issue on the Switch.

  • I'm sitting here listening to Legion's theme right now in a lobby. I think you might just have a bug.

Is it completely missing for you all the time or did you just notice? reloading the game usually clears these away, it's just annoying to have to restart.

  • I also had a VOD of me using a stealth Deathslinger build against a streamer. I know for certain I was aiming straight at them while approaching the streamer on a gen but while watching it from his perspective he had no sound when I caught him off guard multiple times. So this effect must have been re-implemented recently.

  • @WeenieDog said:

He's apparently always had this alarm ringing noise (I'm not sure how to describe it). Another user pointed it out and linked a youtube video with his sound effects. But you only notice it playing when he hard scopes, which most don't.

    https://youtu.be/oUms4UnC4ls?t=94

That makes sense, like I said I think it's possible he had it before and it got removed by accident. Since it was barely noticeable and he was still new nobody even noticed when it stopped playing.

It was very striking in my match today because I was hearing the sound before even seeing the Slinger aiming at me.

  • I used to play old Freddy a lot and he was one of my favourite killers to play. However, playing against him was one of the most frustrating and boring slogs to endure as survivor.

You never committed to chases not in your favour, so the survivor you are chasing has to waste time hoping RNG lets them wake up only for you to immediately put them to sleep again. He had in my opinion the best slowdown in the game, and when he paired range addons with his dream projection power that could lock onto survivors through walls, one of the best tracking tools in the game.

Unfortunately, extremely slow games and an inability to hide does not a fun killer make for survivors, he was similar to doctor in this way but more extreme since his invisibility made it EXTREMELY difficult to counter his tracking unlike Doctor's old Treatment mode. Paired with the fact that him just deciding to leave you alone to wake up only to put you back asleep if you did wake up meant that survivors had very little interaction other than hold m1 until he finally commited to you.

Don't get me wrong I loved playing old Freddy, but the most effective way to play him was dull and slow for the survivors to go against. I haven't even mentioned the fact of how effective slugging was with him, if he started to snowball downs the constant aura reading left little hope for survivors to make a come back. Even if they did get picked up, back to sleep everyone goes and it repeats. And even the dreaded tunneling, if he wanted you dead after hook you could never escape him if he didn't want you too, which wasn't the best way to play him but it felt like crap that you could never shake him no matter how well you did.

So rest in peace Old Freddy, you were not a weak killer but the entity will most likely never bring you back.

I said if you harass me in the game. but maybe I should report you here you have multiple times called me an idiot and many other insinuated things. I have not stooped to your level, I have not told you how to play yet you keep telling ME how to play. I suggested dropping this, and you will not. IF YOU CONTINUE, I WILL REPORT YOU for harassment. obviously you are an elitist gamer and know every game so much better than I, for that I bow to your ultimate wisdom and toss it in the circular file because it is not what I have learned.

I have never once said anything bad about sprint burst what so ever. I know people that swear by it and I never tell them to play something different. me, I do not like that i have to HOLD back to prevent using my power so to me Lithe is a better exhaustion perk because I am able to control when I trigger it. Again nothing wrong with sprint burst to those that like it and if you want to play it more by all means please do so. I am all about playing the game in our own way and not yelling at others to play a specific way.

Ah you are most certainly right. I had skimmed over most of this topic and seemed that I grouped you with the other person with a pig profile pic, that's my bad. I hope you have a good day nonetheless.

I mean buff the distance which we don't care at all but nerf add-on which we care is more like a nerf for me.

Look at it this way, you really should care about the extra distance because that means you can start charging farther away from a survivor and still be able to catch them, that's why it is a buff. Sure they removed the addon's but now the chainsaw is more dangerous and can also be used at pallet loops, you no longer NEED to be breathing down the survivor's neck to down them.

  • @bgbomb said:

yes they buff the distance he can reach.

but they nerf the time you need to charge your ability by makeing his add on totally useless

in my experience for playing bubba

you can only use your M2 when you right behind the survivor.

so in my opinion I don't really care about the distance I could reach because I usually could hit the survivor In first 2 swing if I could hit them.

    in other hand

the time you need for charging decide the survivor can jump over a window/pallet or not.

so can someone explain me why the change to bubba is a buff?

like how the buff about distance make bubba do something he can't do before?

You mean removing the charge add ons? Yes, that can count as a nerf.

But if you have played the PTB you no longer need to be breathing down the survivor's neck to down them with the chainsaw. That's why giving extra distance was a great buff for Bubba, you can start charging from farther away and still be able to catch a survivor before they make it around a loop or to a pallet or window.

lol you keep changing your answer to fit your narrative. look you play your way, i'll play my way, and YES I have also survived without a swf and gotten win conditions without a team as well. just because you play differently does not mean that my way is incorrect what so ever. Stop making it that way, this game has the room for you to play and for me to play. my comments stand and STOP telling me how to play the game I know how to play and how to win just like you. I have not altered how i say my comments yet you keep having to clarify yours. take a walk, if you tell me i'm playing it wrong I'll tell you that you are playing the game wrong and if you antagonize me over it I WILL report the harassment. I've even suggested we call it but you keep coming back trying to make your point the only one way to win, it is not.

I also really like sprint burst. The way I use it is as a time saver. Minimising the time it takes to move between objectives like gens, totems and saving teammates is very powerful, I understand you prefer to use it as self assurance the killer won't catch you immediately, and that's fine! Perhaps when you are solo you rightfully value your survival over your other teammates, and nobody should tell you otherwise.

But if you are the only one who is able to realistic save a teammate from a hook and you are a distance away, walking all the way to the hook is probably not the best course of action to ensure you and your whole team escape alive. As a mostly solo player myself I see at it like "looking out for my teammates increases the odds of my own survival", and the best way to help is to constantly be on objectives if I am not in danger.

I am NOT telling you how to play the game, having SB off cooldown to help you prevent a hit in chase is great I agree, and being stealthy and avoiding a chase altogether has it's place as well. But it doesn't hurt to be flexible. It comes down to having good game sense, and a feel for how the match is going. If you know the killer is occupied and you aren't in danger, then walking between objectives is safe sure but perhaps not the most effective way you are spending your time. If you are uncertain about how safe you are in the moment than perhaps see if you can fit perks like kindred, Bond, Empathy or play in SWF to help better judge if you are likely to end up getting chased. Game sense is a skill that can be constantly improved, and it can help you decide for yourself the best way to win.

Sprint Burst only has 40 seconds of cooldown, in my opinion saving it only for when the killer is nearby just means I don't get to use it as much, whereas using it frequently means I get more value out of it, with only the occasional chance I don't get to use it in chase. And using it frequently means that sometimes, I get to run around with it at 99%, giving the best of both worlds.

It applies the Mangled Status Effect, and, if you are willing to believe the DbD wiki, Mangled slows healing speed by 20%.

Healing another Survivor is 16 seconds, right?

So you add about 3.2 seconds to that type healing.

6.4 seconds to a Self Care heal.

I'm not gonna write down all differences with Med-Kits though, the above 2 are the most common heals.

Then it's pretty much up to you if you think that's worth it.

Also, if you play a Killer with which you use the Killer Power a lot to deal damage, you probably won't want this at all.

Just a TINY nitpick, but mangled adds 4 seconds, not 3.2. Mangled decreases the base healing rate of 1 charge per second (cps) by 20%, or 0.8 cps. it takes 16 charges to do a full heal, so with mangled it would be 16 charges/0.8 cps, which is 20 seconds.

Self Care decreases this heal rate to 0.4 cps. Devs have stated that buffs and debuffs are not additive but multiplicative), it still takes 16 charges to heal with Self Care, so with mangled it would be 16 charges/0.4 cps, or 40 seconds.

Whether or not this has a large impact in the match, well if two survivors are injured and are healing each other that's 8 seconds longer than normal for both to fully heal. at 115% most killers can cover 36.8 metres in that time which is quite significant in catching somebody out of position, especially with nurses calling or stealthy killers like Wraith, Ghostface, etc.

  • The way the devs envision it is that survivors should have less information than the killer. The killer gets to see everyone and what items they have to help better prepare for the match, since they are the only one on their team.

If survivors could see the killer than they would be able to completely counter some killer powers. "Oh we are facing a guy who mains trapper? alright squad bring small game and Object of Obsession to roflstomp him".

People disagree with this because they want to be able to avoid some players. While I don't survivors should be able to, I also think killers shouldn't be able to see names of survivors. That is a healthier balance change than giving survivors info to dodge and helps avoid killers dodging survivors as well as bringing a mori for specific players.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/157258/survivors-make-up-your-minds-about-slugging

Sorry but I’m going to nitpick...

”Until survivors have another objective, slugging is one of the best pressure tools in this game for killers.”

This kinda implies that killers would not slug if survivors had another objective....as if they want to play fair and honorable but are unable to. Not true...this narrative needs to stop. Killers would still camp/tunnel/slug if survivors had another objective. Those playstyles would not stop until removed, that’s what the “add another survivor objective” crowd fail to understand. It’s not that simple.

There is no narrative, the whole point of this is I think there is nothing wrong with slugging to create pressure and to play around perks or things like flashlights. And again, it IS the best way to pressure survivors, since the survivor can't do gens and somebody needs to get off a gen to pick them up. And since there is no other objective for survivors but generators, then PRESSURING them to get off them is the best way for killers to buy time to win.

Implying that toxic killers would stop being toxic if survivors had to work harder to finish their objective is daft, and was not the point I was making.

Alright, give us some time to go and spread the word throughout the hive mind 🙄

Heh, that actually made me chuckle. The title is a bit too general to be fair. I mainly mean the entitled players, but then again they would find any reason to hate their opposition.

  • @alaenyia said:

I would rather be hooked than slugged every time, no exceptions. But I will admit that I do slug people occasionally because I refuse to tunnel people, so if I go to hit an offhooker and accidently get the fresh offhook, I will slug that guy so someone else can come get them off the ground. So I can not say across the board, never slug, ever. There are times it is beneficial, even understandable. Myers and Oni are one shot for a short time, why not get 2 before it runs out. But just slugging every player until you can leisurely hook everyone is unacceptable, slugging the last guy and following him around for several minutes until he bleeds out is unacceptable. So for slugging I would say you just have to chose where the line is, because no play styles are all good or all bad, just have to chose your moments I guess.

Yeah I agree, going into a match with no plans to hook anyone is not that fun, and its a chore on both sides. And if I see somebody else to chase who wasnt just unhooked I'll gladly chase them instead. but when people use DS to play super bold or bumrush the killer to try to waste their time stabbing them then I no longer care how survivors feel about slugging.

  • @Fibijean said:

You're not wrong about shaming others for the way they play being silly, pointless and in some cases hypocritical. Still, I'd caution you against the assumption that everything you've heard said by someone from a particular group is a perspective universally shared by members of that group. Of course there are exceptions, but most of the survivors who hate being slugged and tell killers off for doing it are not the same people who will tell killers "just slug" when they complain about DS. And I've yet to meet a survivor who complains about slugging but would nevertheless rather be slugged than re-hooked.

I get what you mean about making assumptions. I play both solo survivor and killer around equally, depending on lobby times. I'm mostly talking about the players who won't own up to when they made a bad play (like not leaving the gen they were hooked right next to), and decide to blame it on the other side. this goes both ways, killers included.

  • The standard layout is the same as a PC gamepad's layout, and every button is rebindable. By differences what exactly are you looking for? Do you mean if any actions are shared by one button? I know by default some actions are like that but again, it can be customised.

DBD does not permit the use of keyboard/mouse because it offers too big of an advantage. It's possible to get around this with hardware adapters to trick your console into thinking you're using a controller when you're not but that's a rare sight.

Also, mouse/keyboards for consoles are quite expensive and most console owners don't own them. They would be at a serious disadvantage and probably quit the game because of it.

I'm flabbergasted at the "support" for cross-platform play between console and PC in this thread. Seriously makes me wonder if you've ever player a PC game before. The amount of speed, accuracy and general control a high-DPI mouse gives would derstroy anything a controller has to offer. Even at 100% sensitivity (which becomes extremely inaccurate due to pixel skipping) you're a snail compared to a mouse user.

This game is not like other FPS games. The advantage over the killer I get for using a mouse and keyboard is minimised by the fact that this is an asymmetrical game.

My skill as a survivor vs the skill of the killer is not a 1:1 ratio like other shooters. In regular FPS games, I agree 100% that M&K is superior. But the difference between a survivor using a controller or a M&K is miniscule. Why should I care if the killer has a M&K while I play survivor with a controller?

I've played with both and while sure I can't 360 or moonwalk as effortlessly with a controller, so what? Those are just flashy tricks to show off, good killers can deal with them.

People say that console survivors would get destroyed by PC killers, that's simple because they don't have to play as hard. If crossplay came, sure they would have a rude awakening that they can't get away with as much because of low framerate killers, that doesn't mean they won't adapt.

  • I let go to avoid extra skillchecks, the only time I stop and stare at somebody is if they are gen tapping.

  • On PS4 swf survivors can already see the killer's name if they exploit Sony's party system.

Probably explains why there are few killers left on that platform.

  • I moved to PS4 a while ago and the Hag felt so wrong compared to a couple months ago and I couldn't place it until I saw that clip and realized her tp lunge has been destroyed.

She literally stops moving halfway after teleporting and this bug has basically killed her for me on PS4.

  • Antiheal builds will probably be a thing now and possibly quite good with how easy it is to injure people (with only the Nurse being better at this I think).

If nobody heals against Legion they are effectively a one shot killer, and if they do it'll add up to minutes wasted only healing, giving ample time to secure kills.

  • @JoyfulLeader long time since I played it, think it was exclusive to 360?

I remember enjoying it's mystery and atmosphere, and I still remember the ending face me goosebumps, although it was a cliffhanger I think.

  • I think Alan Wake would be a good choice for Xbox. He fits the horror theme well, and could have some perks related to flashlights.
