I do a bit of both. If I see 2 people together I'll stalk with the intent of letting one get away. So I can 99 them and one shot them later. If they are by themselves I just hit them. Landing a hit before they can run away cuts the chase in half.
Bottom line. I stalk if there's more than one. If there's only one I go for the sneak stab.
-
I've lost internet for a minute during a match and I only got a 5 minute ban. You must have done something big to get a 6 hour ban.
-
Trap setting speed used to be worse than it is now. Like many have already said he should start with more traps. My complaint is unless you have a bloody coil, which is ultra rare, there is zero negatives for disarming traps. The time it takes us to pick it up and arm it is nothing compared to how fast they can disarm it.

I had a game today, with a nice David that had "Any means necessary" too. NOBODY uses it except us, we had a great time playing and doing unique plays, but when I wanted to add him to my list of friends, it was impossible. I couldnt check his profile, I couldnt check him on recent games played. How do you expect that we continue building this community without any chance of adding friends? All my friends on DBD were made because we had the chance of adding people, I event talk to 2 of them on whatsapp because I was able to add people after game.}
Deathgarden died for this, please dont follow that path.
ummm. I don't think death garden truly lived to begin with.
As for your topic, yeah they need to fix that.

I'm weird. I write with my left hand but I need to throw things with my right. I can use a pistol in either hand but I prefer my right. A 2 handed gun such as a shotgun or a rifle I have to use my right side.

Truth is I hardly ever used it or noed. I felt if I needed ds to escape then I shouldnt have escaped. If I needed noed then I wasnt applying enough pressure before the egc.

I never see camping killers. Must be low ranks, and they should camp because it works yes? Otherwise low rank survivors would not complain so much.
Seriously. How often have you seen tr3, tyde, marth, monto, otz and all them camp? Unless they were trying to show something.

Bro dont talk to me like im some kinda noob -_- i played this game since 2016 even with a competant team going against a GOOD camper or tunneler still wont ######### help you lbs SOMEBODY is gonna die in that match lbs or 2 and one of those might be yoh, yeah we can span out and do gens if they camp.....bht that ######### SUCKS if your the one being stalked and camped out all the time because the killer sees YOU as a threat lbs stop shipping campers and tunnelers dude lbs cuz people who do this at a HIGHER skill level wont make it seem so simple like how your tryna explain it lbs, ive made my way out of plenty of morei and no ed games lbs so im no scrub dude. I know how the game works lbs, i shoulda sed something about that bullshit ass frame hit killers get when your vault windows now lbs
If youve been playing since 2016 and you have a competent swf AND you still die to a camper. Then you must not be very good at this game.
-
Camping ONLY works if the survivors allow it. When I see a killer at red ranks face camping the first person they hook it tells me there are a ton of high rank survivors that don't know what to do when the killer camps. That explains how that poor killer got to red rank, by facing baby survivors.
If your being tunneled then maybe you should get better at looping or your team shouldn't save you right in front of the killer.

It's because most survivors I run into refuse to even touch bones. As Survivor, I always hunt them out for BP and Inner Strength, and as Killer I never use NOED anyway, but I always see bones left standing at the end of a match. The only time I see survivors scramble for totems is when they realise NOED just activated, and at that point they either run right out the door, or die trying to find it. I choose the first option personally.
That's one of the reasons I run DH. It can pay off before the egc and once they get that notification at 3 stacks they panic. You actually feel feared for once.
-
Haters gonna hate
Personally if survivors agree to give up DS i'll gladly trade in noed. That's a fair deal, for me. I don't use noed and I see DS most of my matches :P
-
Is it me or does it feel like most events cause some issues with the game and they end up extending it?
-
It will be removed
as soon as you cleanse the bones
-
Yeah when I solo I run kindred for this reason and randoms still do what you listed. It really bothers me about all these threads complaining about campers. It only works if the survivors allow it. Heaven forbid they turn that magnifying glass on themselves and see what's wrong with them.

Thats usually a newbie doing that. Older players might give you a love tap then move on
Or did you do something toxic to piss off the killer?
Most of the time it's better to hook and go hunting. Literally unless the exit gates are open and the killer has no noed, there's not much reason to face camp outside of that situation. The majority of killers who camp are playing poorly or they are hoping the survivors get over altruistic.
-
One of the best feelings as a killer is when survivors teabag at the exit gate then they realize blood warden is active.
-
stbfl, intervention or pop, whispers, nc.
STBFL helps because he is an M1 killer. Intervention or pop for gen regression. Whispers is for when Im stealthed I can tell if someone is near a gen. NC so I can see them healing while stealthed.
I mostly use stealth to get close to people and land a hit before they run away. I only stalk if there's 2 people together. I'll often 99% one and go after the other.
-
Sounds like when I play GF and survivors know how to reveal me.
-
Have you seen how fast ruin, dh, toth gets cleansed? It'll never make it to the end of the match. You should be happy it's a hex perk at all. It didn't use to be at first. There was no way to shut it off.
Cleanse da bones. That should be one of the Devs quotes in the loading screen.
-
It's not so much of a 2nd chance perk like DS but more of a punishing perk. If the survivors ignore totems and rush gens they run the risk of running into noed. A lot of killers need all the time they can get because they lack map pressure like some others.
-
Re characters tend to fight back. It wouldnt fit. Also after RE3 bombed I dont want to see more RE for awhile. If we get Nemesis in here I want the old re3 nemesis. The reboot version failed. Mr X was more what nemesis should have been. Randomly appearing wherever you went, no idea when he'll show up and a constant thorn in your side.

So long as you play by their rules, you will never win.

Yeah I've been getting a LOT of selfish and potato red ranks too... it's not only low ranks. But I totally agree that ranking up is way too easy. It ruins matches for killer and solo queue survivors.
This is just my opinion but i think easy r1 started when they nerfed ruin. At least old ruin kept survivors who cant hit great skill checks in the green ranks.
-
My farming build is we'll make it, bt, wglf and an exhaustion perk.
-
He has been getting some nice buffs lately. Trap setting animation, add on rework, rearm traps.
I feel if they helped his early game that would be best. I hope this idea about an early game warm up will help all m1 killers.
-
I remember when bt would apply to both the hooked survivor and the rescuer. I feel bt is fine. I think the issue is people make unsafe hooks because of bt.
-
If you get tunneled don't ######### to me. ######### at your teammate who saved you before I barely had time to turn around and walk away.
If I leave, can't find anyone, you get saved and I come back to the hook. If I can't find the person who saved you but all I can see is your blood trail. Guess what. I'm going after you again. Not because I have it out for you but because your the only one I can find at the time.
I feel DS and BT have had a negative impact on the game lately. They were included for good reasons but people started miss using them. It's like people deliberately make bad hook saves because these perks exist. BT was made encase the killer face camps. Yet some people use BT to unhook someone right in front of the killer who isn't camping and hasn't had time to leave. That's not an issue with the killer or the perk. That's a teammate making a bad save.
DS is a 2nd chance perk. Well at the same time if you DS a killer that's just going to motivate them to finish you off.
As for PH, it's good that someone is finally mixing up the meta.

Trapper. Iridescent stone and diamond honing stone. Once my traps are set I don't have to rearm them. They do that themselves. Spots people disarmed are suddenly dangerous again.

"But tunneling is fundamentally the best decision a killer can choose to make if they want to win the game."
False - you can win this game (IE: pip up) without killing ANYONE in a match if you play well. The circumstances in which Killers NEED to tunnel are very limited, yet it is abused almost every match starting with the first survivor.
"3 survivors are obviously a lot easier to deal with than 4. And with gen speeds being what they are most killers, especially those who struggle in chases, cannot afford to let survivors live longer than they have to."
This is a 4 v 1 game. If you cannot play against 4 people, then go play something else. No one deserves to have their game ruined because a Killer finds that fourth person to be too cumbersome to allow them to play the same. Gens have never been slower or easier to get to than they are RIGHT NOW for Killers.
"Thus, we have a very serious design flaw in this asymmetric game. The most beneficial action for one side, completely ruins the experience of the other."
This is true. Tunneling is a huge problem and the allowance of it is a design flaw. This current event is a prime example why.
"It gives a safety net that catches a survivor no matter if the killer was actually tunneling or not."
And? This is exactly how this perk was INTENDED to work.
"Since DS can only have its timer activate 2 times per game survivors are highly encouraged to play aggressively, giving bad survivors a free escape if they accidentally run into the killer, and good survivors 60 seconds of what is existentially invincibility, by exploiting lockers and grabs."
DS only works 1 time per match. And yes, it states literally ON the perk itself "There's nothing to be afraid of"...it's intended to allow survivors to play bold for 60 seconds. Whether they are good or bad. It also is not "invincibility"...it's a 5 second stun that elongates a chase, AT BEST.
"Slugging doesn't help in the slightest, since Unbreakable exists."
Unbreakable is not that common of a perk. So slugging should help, considering a large swath of survivors don't run it.
"And make no mistake, eating the stun is an option. But all that does is encourage the killer to go after the person who just stunned them since they know that person no longer has DS, while the rest of their team still might."
Which is fine...the more time that person can waste of the Killer's - the better off their team will be for it.
"The end result of this, a perk designed to stop tunneling, is just encouraging the killer to tunnel more. It rewards bad survivors for messing up, gives good survivors temporary god-status, and doesn't even solve the actual problem with tunneling still being the most viable way to play killer."
This perk isn't designed to stop tunneling. Stopping tunneling is one of its most common and best uses, yes. But it was designed to allow survivors to make a variety of bolder plays within the confines of 60 seconds after getting off the hook. To that end, it works exactly as intended and functions perfectly. It doesn't "reward" bad survivors for "messing up"...it allows less skilled survivors to get back in the game. And no survivor gets "god status"...this is ridiculous verbiage. It gives decent survivors use of a 5 second stun for 60 seconds after getting off hooked one time in a match.
I love that you made this entire thread and explanation and not once did you actually offer a better solution, but you're extremely quick be critical of BHVR.
Anyone who has to tunnel every match to win needs to spend more time trying to improve their game play. That is sad.
I don't know how to quote one phrase.
As for the DS can only be used twice. I think the OP meant you can only be hooked twice before you are dead hook. So once your freed from your first hook survivors are encouraged to make use of DS while they have it.

Fantastic analysis. If you want to stop tunneling, make it not optimal to do! My DbD balancing dream might be a strong trial warmup mechanic so I could actually exert pressure before gens gain substantial progress. On top of this, a dramatic speed-up to gen repair speeds, but the first time you hook a survivor it permenantly and dramatically damages their ability to repair. So there's an actual tactical decision between 'hook diversely to slow gens' vs 'rush a kill'. Currently, rush a kill is the ideal choice.
Alternatively, recently hooked survivors could suffer slower repair speeds and possibly be given another objective, meaning you counter gen pressure more by not tunneling someone out.
It would be a lot of work and no idea how they could implement it but I had this idea of like a Director like the AI in Left 4 Dead. A program that views the progress of a match and acts accordingly. If the survivors are finishing gens too fast the Entity slows down progression to giv ethe killer a chance to catch up. If the killer is hooking a lot of people speed up gen repair, healing, chance to kobe ect.

I've been here since launch, and while this is an unpopular fact, survivors* are responsible for the toxicity. It started with them, then killers responded in kind, and now we're here. Only the veterans like myself remember, for example, that killers didn't start leaving survivors to bleed out or take Agitation and Iron Grasp for shits and giggles, they did it because survivors sabotaged every hook on the map and made it nigh-impossible to hook them (sometimes just impossible, even with Agitation and Iron Grasp).
*#NotAllSurvivors, before someone points that out.
It's kind of like 2 street gangs that have been fighting each other for so long. Hardly anyone remembers how it started lol

As for nurse. Bring back her old power without the cd, fix her bugs and "re"rework her add ons again. Quadruple blink nurse was broken and required no skill. Don't bring that back but her current add ons suck and her power is too inconsistent since her rework. Most matches I feel like I am fighting the blink mechanics more than the survivors. Too many times my blink did not go through an object or after a blink my nurse auto locked onto a rock or a hook instead of what I was aiming at.

If people would stop buying it, they wouldn't make it.
RMT in games is like the auction house in an MMORPG like FF11 or WoW. Someone sets the price to what they think someone will pay and somebody buys it. The next person selling an item see's what the last person paid and decides to sell their item for more. Someone buys it. The cycle just goes on and on.
-
I didn't even know there was an event. That's how much I paid attention to this game. I only jump on if friends want to play.
-
If I see someone in a legacy skin I assume it's a hacker. Most of the people who actually earned those don't play anymore.
-
Reminds me of the hallowed blight event last halloween. I wasnt being gen rushed at the start because survivors wanted that putrid nectar. I hope whatever early game phase the devs are coming up with is similar. At least provides the M1 killers time to catch survivors before 3 gens pop.

Chances are, this was a MM abuse. A Red ranked SWF who uses a yellow rank as leader to get 'EZ games'. It's sad but I get it all the time on my games. I don't understand why people do this. An ego boost because they crushed an inexperienced player?
I thought that was fixed?
When PH came out some friends and I got into a 4 man swf. We had 2 reds, a green and a brown. The r1 survivor was hosting. For 2 days we only got baby killers above rank 16. I don't think that was because of our ranks. I think due to the sound bug not many veterans are playing killer.
-
When I played Evil Within 2 I thought Stefano would be a cool villain. His mori could be captured on one of those cameras and the animation plays over and over throughout the match.

I think it's too early to make a fair decision.

Killer wakes up in the morning, makes a bowl of cereal, sits down, and eats for a few minutes.

Startled, the killer gives up on breakfast and walks to the bathroom to brush their teeth.
Survivors Yell: "LOOK AT HIM TUNNELING THAT TOOTHBRUSH!!"
Poor killers.
Then that killers plays another game and survivors wonder why there aren't many killers left.

Sorry, but that's simply not true. I've had plenty of killers who I would up vote. Either because they played in a fair manner, which is obviously subjective. They played well, or were generally good sports.
"You" would up vote killers. Not everyone will. Look at the amount of people who suicide on a hook because they were found first, the killer is spirit, the killer didn't respect the 4%, the killer tunneled them off the hook, the killer is using spirit fury+enduring. When MLGA was a thing there were people that blocked a killer just because they lost a match. A vote system controlled by the survivors is just putting more emphasis on how they think a killer should play.

I don't know. I bought a bunch of killers that I want to try out, but I'm constantly getting matched against red rank SWF. Trying out new stuff is fun, but when every match is a guaranteed loss, it's bittersweet.
That's what I don't understand. SWFs claim the killer is learning by getting the crap kicked out of them. If your playing Call of Duty and you spawn in the path of a bullet. How are you learning to play the game?
-
@malloymk said:
I think there should be a reputation system, but only with using upvotes. Play with a good survivor that risks his life at end game to save you, you invote him. Play against a good killer that played fair (up to your interpretation of fair) up vote him.
Players get an upvote blood point gift and possibly matched with other upvoted players. I wouldn't do a down vote system as certain swf groupings would just downvote any killer that beats them.
The problem with a vote system is it WILL be abused. No matter how the killer plays people won't upvote him because survivors have this illusion there is a rule book for the killer. When I play killer the only rules I follow are the ones the devs have set. No one elses. So long as I am not violating the devs rules all is fair.
-
I tend to run IS or I bring a medkit. I like to bring pharmacy and farm green medkits so I have a perk slot for another match. I only use SC if I prestige someone and I don't have anything else.
-
I feel like I've been on break since the nurse rework. I only jump on if a friend wants to swf or if a new killer comes out. I get them to 40 in like 2 days and then I play something else.
I was in a swf and we played all day for 2 days. We had two reds, a green and a brown rank. Literally every killer we got was above rank 16 and a newbie. I get the feeling a lot of people are taking a break. I don't care what the numbers say. For 2 whole days we only got baby killers. We live in the US and we were playing from like lunch to midnight. Which is usually when most gamers are active. It feels like the veteran killers have had enough.

I'm not very good with metaphor but I look at gamers vs developers like NASCAR.
I don't watch nascar I'm just using it for this analogy. The developers are like the mechanics. The ones who built the car. They can maintain it. Take it apart and put it back together. The player on the other hand is the driver. That's the person who knows how it's performing and what it can do because they are the one using it.
