I don't care when people use it (I am going after the other person anyway as I don't like to tunnel). It's when the BT person then slows down and actively gets in your way with body blocking that I get irked by it. But even then, I just now end up tunneling them because if you're diving in front of your rescuer like that, I know you're going to have BT and you're going to be super bummed to know that I'm just going to be on your ass waiting 20 seconds to knock you right back down for trying to pull that kind of stunt...

I agree. Just because your under the affects of BT does not mean you should go towards the killer. It's a perk meant to help you with an unsafe save. That doesn't mean you make unsafe saves on purpose because you have it. It's meant for a good purpose but people miss use it. I feel the same about those people who get in the killers face then jump in a locker right before getting downed because they have DS.

  • Maybe the reason the forums are killer bias is because thats the side that is getting screwed over the most?

  • Whoever the devs are listening too, they need to stop right now. Cause for every 1 thing they do right they screw up another 10.

    @Blueberry said:

The loudest people are the ones that don't play both sides and have very little time put into the game to fully understand what they're talking about.

People also misuse the word "bias" tremendously on these forums. As soon as you say that this or that needs buffs or nerfs, you are immediately labeled "bias" for thinking one side needs something, which isn't what bias is at all.

I for example think killers are generally speaking quite weak. That isn't bias, as I play both sides equally at the highest rank. i experience it all from both sides and have come to the conclusion that one side needs help more than another. That is an analysis from seeing both sides from all perspectives, not bias.

I watched that video of a champion overwatch player getting his ass kicked in dbd. My first impression was "He's a champion player for a FPS. This is not a FPS. Dbd is an entirely different game. The way the MM is and the fact he is just starting this game why wouldn't he be getting crushed?"

People say not all SWF play sweaty, but they seem to forget the fact that sweaty or not, they have huge advantage by gaining all these FREE perks.

How do you think they would react if killers could get 10 perks for free added to the base 4 perks ?

A few days ago I was in a 4 man swf and discord went down for like 30 mins. We actually had to play the game as intended /gasp

It was funny and more challenging. I was messing around with q&q+head on. I was being chased and I jumped into a locker. The killer then chased someone else and that team mate just happened to run past me. The fact we did that locker stun without coms made it hysterical.

  • Instead of buffing solos I think buffing killers when facing swf would be a better solution. Don't tell the killer they are going against a swf because then they would lobby dodge. Maybe select your 4 perks and pick an extra 4 that only get equipped "if" your up against a swf. Or give them some sort of boost to action speed. Something. Im just throwing ideas out there. Solos can always git gud but buffing them because swf is over powered just makes killer's job even harder.

  • When I get frustrated I play something else.

Wow man, you’re big brain. We got Jimmy Neutron here folks. This isn’t a instant free hook. If a killer is facecamping, they’re not going to move for no reason. If the killer is away, the person will get unhooked either way, so Basically like a normal game. If the killer I under them or above them, it just super slows the timer down, which won’t matter cause somebody is going to unhook the survivor anyway. This doesn’t regress a killer, just either don’t facecamp, or give the survivors more time.

Your the one who made this thread. A topic that has been asked several times before and has the same answer. You clearly didn't read my post. If the killer hooked someone, left and went down/up stairs. They won't be face camping but your idea will still punish them. Try using the search feature the next time you have a thought. If you can't handle criticism don't make a post.

  • I always bring at least one. Intervention for setup killers like trapper/hag. Pop for everyone else. On speedy killers I'll bring ruin+surveillance so I can constantly push people off the gens. The best tactic is still downing 1 and chasing another so there is at most 1-2 people working on gens. The best solution is getting them to do something besides repairing the gens.

  • This can be abused for a free unhook. Also what about maps with more than one floor. Such as Midwich or The Game. The killer could be above or below the hook but they will still be within 10 meters. Face camping already has a solution. Stay on the hook for as long as possible, do gens and get out.

I'm on a break for a bit, ever since the second rift I've been getting more and more burnt out when the rift ends. I am not hopeful rift 4 will be any better, it seems the devs want to grind us into the ground.

Forcing your player basis to play a lot during a specific time frame is never good.

Problem is mate all the veteran players have seen the bad teammates they get at red ranks so they create a swf with other veteran players.

Matchmaking on both sides is causing your problem.

and instead of fixing MM. These devs are diverting resources to reworking a perfectly good killer.

  • I'm not a billy main but I think the reason people are upset is they are nerfing him when it is uncalled for. They went too far with the Nurse rework but they at least had probable cause for that. Even both sides agreed 5X blink nurse needed to be removed but then they had to mess with her base kit. Which was perfect before. No one said Billy was broken so why is he being adjusted? Billy damn near sets the standard for what a strong killer should be. Powerful, not too difficult to pick up but hard to master, great pressure, built in one shot. The fact he is getting nerfed when there are other serious issues feels insulting. Whoever they had working on Billy's rework, why couldn't those people have been told to work on MM?

Yeah it’s honestly dumb. In this game if you die to the killer it may happen because they are the “killer” not the chaser. It just feels like the Killer is getting killed more than the actual survivors. Killers don’t feel powerful.

The devs might as well take a page from FT13ths book and give survivors a way to kill the killer -.-

  • If you want more representation that's fine. All I ask is don't get upset when your favorite survivor gets hook or your killer gets pallet slammed. This is a horror game. You kinda have to accept the fact something bad will likely happen to these characters.

  • I almost always say GG but I never say EZ. To me, saying GG EZ is saying "you suck".

  • Another thing to factor in is the skill of the survivors. If they are working together they can rush the gens while 1 person is being chased. If that one person knows where to run, it leads to a very frustrating experience as killer.

  • Personally I would love to see the stats for survivors. Mainly the amount of R1 survivors running DS. I bet it's greater than the amount of R1 killers that ran ruin before the nerf. But the devs won't show those numbers because then killers will demand they give it the ruin treatment. Which they won't.

And thats the only way they understand things, if they try hard and failed you must be cheating because mommy and daddy always let them win.

You can be a old child too, statement works no matter the age.

This is why I don't give wins to my nieces and nephews. I don't give them a false sense of accomplishment. That way when they get exposed to the real world, they won't expect everything to be handed to them. I guess I'm considered old fashioned for thinking this way cause I get tons of people telling me to "let them win".

My favorite comedian said a joke about how he raises his step son vs how his mom raises him. "She's trying to protect him from the world. I'm trying to prepare him for the world."

  • I've been called a hacker numerous times when running Whispers. It's like most survivors know what BBQ does but hardly any know how Whispers works.

On coldwind there were 2 survivors and 2 gens left. The one near the shack in the corner was completed. Whispers was going off. There's no logical reason for being in this area unless they wanted to search the chest. I searched all around the shack and found no one. Whispers is still on. I check inside. I check both lockers upstairs and nothing. Whispers is still on. At this point I assume he must be in the basement because if he was outside he would have left by now. I check all the lockers down stairs and the very last one, there he was. In the end game chat he asked how did I know he was there. Then I typed for like 2 mins explaining how whispers works.

On Haddies field I was playing billy. I killed 3 survivors. BBQ showed me someone was in the house with the downstairs basement. So I sprint over there and look around. I don't see anyone but he couldn't have gotten far. For the hell of it I check the lockers and sheer luck, there he was. I explained BBQ told me he was in that area but it was a guess that he was in that locker.

My favorite. I was called a wall hacker when playing as nurse before her "rework". It was legions map. I hook someone in the corner of the map and see someone on the other side. I blink through the building and I see a Claudette crouched behind a table. I change direction and hit her. Then the person asked

    "How did you see me?"

"I had no idea you were there. I was going through the building after someone else. Then I saw you in the corner of my eye"

"I'm Claudette. The only way you could see me is if you were hacking. REPORTED!"

"You know there is such a thing as bumping into the survivors by chance right?"

    "REPORTED!!!!"

"Go ahead. Falsely reporting me will get you banned, not me"

    "REPORTEDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I think I caused them to retreat to their safe space lol

You brought many valid points but to much from a killers POV. Solo survivors are dealing with a lot of bullshit aswell. In dbd, the only fun and relaxing role is 4 men swf with strong players and voice coms. Then you have fun. You will have a blast actually and laugh a lot. But killer? Nope stressful. Solo q? Nope frustating.

I consider myself a killer main but I play both sides. I don't play solo anymore. That's how bad it's gotten for me. I only play survivor with friends. Not always a 4 man but I know enough that randoms suck. Especially since the ruin nerf and rank reset changes. A red survivors might not know how to even loop these days.

The other day my friends and I got into a 4 man swf and discord went down. We actually had to play the game as intended /gasp. It was funny. I was messing around with Q&Q and head on. It was huntress map and the killer was gf. 3 of us are on a gen and gf comes at us. I took a hit so they can finish the gen and I run into the cabin. I jump in a locker. Ghosty is chasing Bill who happens to run by my locker and I smack ghosty with it. The fact we did that without headsets made it historical.

  • I rarely play anymore. While the devs do make improvements it feels like for every 1 thing they get right they get 3 other things wrong. This is just my opinion but with some of the decisions being made I get the impression the devs are r20 survivor mains.

It's like they only really buff killer when the player base drops so low the survivors can't find a game.

The people who made this game were the ones who thought patch 1.9.2 was a QoL update. The one that made it super easy to flashlight save and pallet stun a killer during a pick up animation. It was damn near impossible to pick up someone if they were downed at a pallet or if someone else brought a flashlight. Anybody with a decent amount of playtime in this game could have told them that was a horrible idea. I'm not talking a few thousand hours, a mere few hundred would suffice. Fortunately they actually undid that one.

Who the #@$% thought MoM wasn't going to be broken when it came out?

They nerfed ruin without thinking how it could affect M1 killers. Then instead of admitting they didn't think it through, they nerf tool boxes the next patch to try to fix the damage they inflicted.

Billy is getting nerfed for no real reason.

Nurse is still buggy since her rework. I played her on Dead Dawg Salon the other night and I kept getting stuck on guard rails when I tried to blink. Even went through the floors when I wasn't trying too or couldn't go through the floors when I wanted too. It's been nearly a year since her rework and they show no signs of even acknowledging these problems. Meanwhile DS was bugged after one patch and they fixed it within a week.

DLC feels like it's eye candy to bring in fresh meat for the grinder. Every new killer that comes out has crappy perks and half thought out add ons. Seriously look at PH's add ons. Most of them have no real use and his perks do not feel game changing or even niche. The devs are afraid to add anything remotely strong because the entity forbid the survivors actually fear the killer.

MM is god awful and the ranking system is a joke. I don't need to go in detail about this subject.

Last is the community. No matter how you play, either side, there is always some ######### calling you toxic for doing this or that.

  • If killers could see if a group is in a 4 man swf they would lobby dodge. This would make the que times even worse.

"After" a match then I see no harm in telling the killer if it was a swf.

  • @JawsIsTheNextKiller said:

I assume this is about the changes to Hillbilly. I'm most likely not the best person to criticize the changes because I only played a handful of games as Hillbilly, but I still think the changes are long overdue. With every new killer coming out having a cooldown on their power, it makes no sense that Hillbilly (and Leatherface) had instadown powers that had no cooldowns to them. Especially if you consider how Hillbilly's chainsaw allowed him to travel across the map within seconds.

And they probably checked data the same way they did when they changed Ruin.. too many games with ruin ended up with wins for killers.. Too many games with Hillbillies ended up with wins for killers.. Then they compared data if it was the perks that were at fault, or the add-ons, or simply the killer himself. And there you go, changes to how Billy works.. The same has been applied to Sally last summer, don't be surprised they went after Hillbilly next. It was long overdue.

Honestly I dont trust the data. It only works when the devs feel like using it.

X amount of matches had ruin, nerf ruin.

X amount of matches have DS, do nothing?

As for the hillbilly changes. I fear this is going to be like the nurse rework. It will weaken the killer, less people will play them and more will switch to spirit. If they even stick around. Hope to the Entity that there's no bugs in billys rework because if it's anything like nurses. Those bugs will not be fixed.

Yes sure. But when OoO would only work for the obsession, you could actively enforce an obsession switch to deny the aura reading. Be it Perks like Nemesis, Furtive Chase or tunneling to get DS stun. Esp. when they are a 4 man swf, they should really think about if they want to run OoO besides DS.

There needs to be an actual negative to being the obsession. Unless the killer is running rancor it's actually more beneficial to be the obsession than not. STBFL means the killer is probably going to avoid you if they can help it to keep their stacks. PWYF will chase you then leave. Dark Devotion the killer will hit you once and might leave you alone to go hunting while undetected.

  • Unfortunately some killers have add ons that out right suck or don't serve them much purpose. In PH's case I get the feeling the devs were just throwing stuff in there so they could say he had plenty of add ons.

  • Hemorrhage just makes survivors bleed more. Leaves more puddles on the ground and they last longer so it's easier for you to track injured survivors. When mixed with sloppy butcher and blood hound it's damn near impossible to lose someone whose injured. Unless they have perks which hide blood.

  • @CaulDrohn said:

Just change it that only the current obsession sees the killer aura, but the killer always sees all survivors with OOO. That would be real high risk, every DS stun could rob your aura reading, but the killer still sees you. And mulötiple OoO is only beneficial for the killer.

I don't think the issue is multiple people running OoO. The problem is when it's a 4 man swf with headsets. When one person runs it they can tell everyone else where the killer is.

  • After Billy I'm sure spirit is next. Then one day they might give Deathslinger the PH treatment. When he hooks someone and sticks around the hooks magically move across the map. I'm actually waiting for them to make that happen to ALL killers to try to shut down face camping.

that honestly would be the most favorable solution, but as some people would get extremely cranky either way, let them decide between hell or high water.

like, it IS a perk that fits the character's lore, but as it is, it is too easily exploitable.

The only people who would get cranky are SWFs because solos never run OoO. Honestly SWFs are the reason this perk is so hated so I say it's for the good of the game if we took it out.

Actually you are wrong. She required skill before, she requires more skill now, that's fine. With the old nurse, if the killer was good then survivors did not stand a chance most of the time. Having a character be nearly unstoppable is bad design, killers should not have such a high skill ceiling to the point where you are able to stomp anyone if you put in enough hours.

Due to her bugs that were introduced with her rework. She requires skill and "luck". Half the time when you try to make a blink you won't go through objects anymore. Your fighting the game as much as the survivors. They could at least fix that but they haven't even acknowledged it's existence. Since they gave her a cd it takes her longer to traverse the map. Good survivors used to mind game her. Now they just need to run in a straight line and she can't catch them without 3-4 blinks without add ons. Why is it that survivor's job gets easier while killer's is getting harder? At least before if you got good with nurse you could dominate. Now we got killers where no matter how hard you try, unless the survivors make a mistake, they will always win so long as they gen rush and stack 2nd chance perks.

Just to show how messed up the matchmaking is lol.

When they announced ranks would no longer be visible I said "Great. Instead of fixing the problem you'll just make it so I can't see how bad the MM is screwing me" Considering how bad it's getting it might not be a bad idea to just remove rank.

  • I was on Oni's map as my trapper. It was a bad match for me. Hardly hooked anyone, gens were flying, no one stepped in my traps. Near the end I got even. Doors were open and they were being greedy. I chased one out of the gates. 3 left. I managed to down and hook one when it was like 40% time left on the EGC. I don't run NOED mind you. I left him because I had already won. I waited for them to save him and I pursued. They body blocked him to the exit gate. I allowed them to block for him. It was then did they realize what I had done. I had a challenge to sacrifice 2 survivors during the EGC so I brought Blood Warden. I just stood there watching them as the timer count down.

In the end game chat they said "that was awesome!". I don't even think I got a safety for that but it happens. I didn't care because the ending was epic. I wish I was recording during that match.

  • Id rather the devs play their own game at top rank and se how the meta is for themselves. Instead of looking at where ever they get their data and making a decision off that.

  • One match I was on swamp. I just cleansed a totem and saw a survivor walking to a gen. I thought id run to them and we would duo it. It wasn't until I took 2 steps towards them did I realize. It wasn't a survivor. It was Pig crouched so I didn't hear a heart beat. It was one of those subtle jump scares that get you when realization sinks in. Fortunately I didn't run in front of her and she never saw me.

If you want old school nurse type killers, does that mean survivors should want old school pallet spawns and infinites?

Wrong. Bring back old school nurse but keep the add on changes. She had a high skill ceiling but you werent going to be getting constant 4ks with her unless you put in the time. 4X blink nurse was broken. Let that stay buried but get rid of this CD crap. She literally can't catch you without her blinks.

Since Scott's new video, there have been a lot of discussions about what killers are "fun" or "unfun" to play against (fun usually just meaning "easy to bully"). I don't think the use of this metric will yield any positive changes if it's normalized and the balance team starts reading into these threads. I know I'm going to get responses along the lines of "Its not a competitive game", but the fact that it's PvP-only means that this game is, whether intentionally or not, competitive. And in a competitive setting, balance is the first priority. This game's playerbase has a lot of overlap with the fighting game community (IE Tru3ta1ent), which is about as competitive as gaming gets.

The thought of Deathslinger being changed to be more "fun" in the eyes of survivors haunts me. He's already a skill-based killer that requires movement prediction, pop-shotting and player reading to perform well with. I wouldn't put these devs above giving him a huntress-like directional terror radius to make him a straight downgrade, for the sake of "fun".

I think one question people aren't asking is "Whose suppose to have fun?". Cause sometimes it feels like only one side is suppose to enjoy the game.

  • Spirit was weak upon her release. Then they tweaked her and she's good. GF was terrible on the ptb but luckily they saw that and adjusted him. GF still isn't old nurse lvl. When I play as him most survivors don't have trouble revealing me. I don't play as spirit cause I suck at phasing.

  • I think that would be a great power for him but the devs will never let it happen. That would be like another Nurse and they don't release strong killers.

I live on the east coast too :P

  • When PH came out some friends and I got into a 4 man swf. We played for like 2 days and we had a r1, r5, r6 and r8. We literally got only rank 16 killers. Almost all of them were brand new players. One had 1k hours but they must have been a survivor main because they were an awful killer. I'm starting to think MM doesn't exist in this game. When I play killer I can be rank 14 and I'll get reds. Rank is so meaningless that they are just throwing 5 people in a room and say GL.

  • Keep making threads like this. I'm sure the devs will give him a cd eventually -.-

  • Why would you trust a "killer"?
