When the devs talked about hiding ranks my initial thought was "Oh, so I can't see how bad the ranking system is screwing me?". Considering how messed up it is I think I am in favor of just removing rank all together.
I recently started playing killer again after a long break. My rank went back down to 17 because it's been so long but I have just over 1k hours. The people the MM was putting me against didn't stand a chance. Those survivor's didn't suck so much as they were new. Though there were a few that had meta load outs and they still sucked at looping. I actually felt bad for most of them. It's nice to not have to try hard but those poor souls couldn't provide a challenge. It only shows how terrible the ranking system is for this game.
-
I almost always bring a medkit for self healing. That way I don't have to dedicate a perk slot.
-
This game thrives on attracting new players by getting the rights to a licensed franchise. Then tricking them into thinking they are the power role by playing killer. Only to be thrown to the wolves the moment they leave rank 17 so cosmetic buying swfs(the devs true favored customers) can have someone to bully. I honestly think the creation of strong killers was a fluke. When Spirit and Blight were on the ptb, I didn't think they would be strong. I thought they would be weak. I highly doubt the devs anticipated this either.
-
I have Humankind, a civ knock off, but I have not dived into it yet. Been playing Hell Architect, Warhammer 2 and Phoenix Point.
-
Survivors already have 16 perks to a killer's 4. I feel this would be too powerful.

DS was only nerfed because of the backlash after the Undying nerf.
Now for the suiciding they'll argue that new survivors need this way to leave the match. Before it gets to frustrating.
Meanwhile, Killers can always play civ.
There's a civ-like game that came out recently called Humankind :P
Still haven't dived into it yet. Some love it some think it's a worse civ.

They won't fix suiciding on hooks though.
Oh they will. In 4 years. That's how long it took them to fix DS. Yet ruin+undying was a thing for like 3 months? /coughfavoritismcough

Oh my god pallet vaccum was actually the worst thing known to mankind, especially when double pallets were still a thing too
I think patch 1.9.2 was worse than pallet vacuum. The patch that removed the timing required for a pallet stun or flashlight save. When the survivor dropped under a pallet it was impossible to pick them up. Someone just had to run by, drop the pallet at any point during the animation and it would stun the killer. Slugging was mandatory when that patch released. The worst part was it was the devs who said this would be a QoL changes. It was one of the few patches the devs undid because it was that bad. Usually when they introduce something stupid they change something else to try to cover it up. That patch was so awful they removed it. That's how you know it was bad. They didn't even try to justify it. They removed it and said "We will never speak of this again".
That patch was the day I lost all faith in BHVR.

Again, why should survivors be the only ones that get a way out when the game becomes a miserable experience?
Because right now, survivors are doing exactly that. Abuse their easy way out, when things don't go as they want.
Killers always have to stay until the survivors are either dead or gone.
Instead of adding another unhealthy mechanic because one side has one. Id rather they fix the broken mechanic.
-
If you think hit validation is bad now. Were you around when pallet vacuum was a thing? That sucked.
-

So just give killers a way out.
They are also human beings that want a miserable experience to end.
But can you add a way out that will end a miserable experience but won't be abused when things just aren't going your way? What's to stop a killer from opening the gates because it's a bad map, ruin was cleansed early, a survivor got a flashlight save or 3 gens popped by the time they got one hook?
-
@Tsulan said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2463253#Comment_2463253
That's the point.
Survivors can end the match prematurely. Why can't killers do the same?!
I don't feel either side should be able to do so but in order to fix that. They would have to find a way to deal with hook suicides. Which I don't think they can.
-
If I see a bubba I don't assume it's a 100% chance that the killer is a face camper. However I do feel that the odds go up.
-
@Tsulan said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2463249#Comment_2463249
This is one of the reasons why the killer should be able to open the exit gates, independently of how many gens have been completed.
The current version is inconsistent.
I don't know. Opening the exit gates whenever you want.....how is that any different than survivors committing suicide on their first hook? The match is still ending prematurely. I can picture killers opening the gates because ruin was cleansed or they got sent to haddonfield.
As for the uber swf not doing gens to get more points. I'm pretty sure you can file a report for holding the game hostage for that.
-
@DBDRewardsBdBehavior said:
@Sypherpathic Killers act the same way tho. When they don't like the map, get looped, gens pop quickly, they get their feelings hurt, or SWF.
True both sides do it but because the match ends when a killer rage quits it feels worse when survivors do it. If the killer quits it's over. You que up for another match. If a survivor quits your left with a feeling of dread because now you have to pick up the slack. "Oh great. This is going to suck". You know your in an unfair match now because someone got salty and left. The suffering doesn't end when a survivor quits. It only gets worse.
-
And people wonder why there is a DC penalty. Someone quits and ruins the game for 4 other people. Why shouldn't they be punished?
As for the killer face camping someone to death. If the other survivors have brains in their heads and do gens. Odds are the killer won't rank up either. Camping only works if the survivors fall for it. Going off these forums you would think the vast majority do but I believe it is a vocal minority.
As far as ranking up is easier for killer. It's because your performance is not dependant on others. As a survivor you need to do a bit of everything. If the killer sucks or face camps the first person they down. Providing no opportunity to save, heal or even be chased. Then it's really difficult to rank up as a survivor. As a killer you are in more control because it's based your performance. The survivors can gen rush but so long as you are good at chases or win a mind game, you can get downs, interrupt gen progression, hit people, use your power ect.
-
I wouldn't want a feature like that to be included into the game. I know what will happen. Survivors who beat the crap out of a baby killer will want a rematch and killers who get 4 newb randoms will want the same.
-
After years of getting updates that break the game, I wait for the week after the update. Usually by the time they patch it.
-
I've done it before but not often. A lot of things have to go right for me or a lot of things have to go wrong for the survivors.
-
Your not allowed to name and shame because word of mouth is no proof that someone is a hacker. It could just be a salty loser who hated this person because they played as blight. So they came to the forums and spread miss information to try to get back at them.
-
Ever see the movie Gamer? It's where they use nanomachines to connect convicts to a network. Then kids with rich parents can pay to take control of them and play actual CoD Deathmatch. Actual people are dying and they don't care because they are convicts. It's fiction but if we ever developed that kind of tech I have no trouble believe people would buy that service.

My opinion: DBD does not need a sequel. And so does Overwatch.
Overwatch has been stagnant ever since OW2 was announced. Nobody wanted a sequel, but the devs jumped ship anyway. I doubt it will release any time soon especially with the ongoing lawsuit and allegations.
@SunderMun said:
OW 2 being a thing has killed OW. The 'dead game' meme was literally self-fulfilling and Activision decided to force the devs' hand into doing this rather than just changing the business model for the game lol.
I don't want this for DBD unless it's a different style of game entirely made by a different team, because that would kill a game we all hold so dear.
The last decade I've noticed whenever Blizzard #@$%s up, they announce a new game to take attention off the situation. Given their current predicament I am expecting the company to be dismantled and Activison has other studios work on their IPs. I used to love Blizzard back in the days of SC:Brood Wars, Warcraft 2-3 and Diablo 2 but that company has died long ago.

That's not relevant, though. For better or for worse, the developers of a game decide how it should be played.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2458294#Comment_2458294
True, but many newbies think it's the other way around.
Maybe we should put it's explanation in the loading screen? Along with "The killer's objective is to kill you!" >.>
-
Knowing BHVR, they will not add cross progression because they want you to buy all the dlc again. I can totally see it coming. DBD 2 comes out and we have to buy every licensed killer a 2nd time.
Another game series that follows a similar formula is Total War:Warhammer. It has 2 games so far and the 3rd comes out dec I think. There's a lot of dlc for each but the base content is plenty to keep you occupied for hundreds of hours. If you have WH2 you can only play vortex campaign, which is like the story mode. You can only play as the WH2 factions. If you also have WH1 however you can also play the Mortal Empires campaign. Which combines the world map of both games 1+2 and ALL the factions. Essentially if you have a faction from one game you can play as them in the other games. When the 3rd game comes out I'll be able to use all the factions I have from the first 2 games.

Kindred will show a killer who's stationary for a couple seconds and then vanishes all of a sudden.
There's also the universal sign of waving your arms up and down while your on the hook to tell other's the killer is near. If you've played this game for a decent amount of time you know what that action symbolizes.

I don't run meta Perks, Except Iron Will. My build revolves around Stealth and Lockers
Cool. Cause often when survivors complain about something there is usually a perfectly good counter for it. They just don't wanna do it.
-
The devs never cared for console. It was a cash grab.
-
Take off one of your four 2nd chance perks and bring distirtion.
-
Sadly, yes. If I face a try hard squad when I'm trying a meme build for fun I suddenly remember why I learned to play Nurse. Next match I switch to her, put on my meta build and annihilate the next unfortunate group I come across. It's not fair to that group who did nothing but if I try another meme build. It's another try hard swf group. Let this be a lesson survivors. Try hard killers are not born, they are made. We wanna have fun too.
-
In this game, people will hate you no matter what. So play however you want.

Original Ruin was a terrible designed Perk. It was free Slowdown without any effort on the Killer Side. This should not exist.
Original Ruin bought time for all the killers who are not top tier(assuming it wasn't placed in an obvious location, which 9/10 times it was). There's a lot of killers that lack mobility and new ruin is worse than old ruin for them. IMO old ruin also helped the ranking system. Ever since they nerfed it the amount of noobs in red ranks has sky rocketed. Back when old ruin forced you to hit great skill checks it kept these players in their respected ranges. Now we have "red" survivors who think they're pros and they can't even loop.
-
Twitch streamers were saying bad things and people were watching them? I know it's fiction but have you seen a movie called Untraceable? It's about a serial killer who puts people in elaborate death traps and streams it over the internet. The traps are setup in a way that the more viewers watching, the faster they die. The FBI went online and a national broadcast on tv saying "The site is real. It is not a hoax. Do not visit it. Anyone watching these streams is an accomplice to murder" Yet every time the killer streams they are getting millions of views. The killer's message was "I'm not the bad guy. If no one was watching you'd be perfectly safe right now".
Again, work of fiction but I can actually picture this happening in real life. A lot of ######### on the internet.
-
You may find this hard to believe but there is no survivor's rule book for killers.
-
Agreed. When it comes to the meta in any game, nerfing it doesn't solve anything. People will always use whats best. If you nerf the best perk then everyone will start using the next best perk. Then people will complain about that perk and ask for it to be nerfed. The cycle continues. The way to stop it is by adding more stuff on equal lvl. So we have options. If we had 12 meta perks to choose from instead of just 4, you wouldn't run into the exact same build every match.

Make Furtive Chase shrink to other survivors but grow to the obsessions
Just in general, not in a chase
I would make Furtive chase do the opposite of what it does now. Every time the killer hooks the obsession, his TR shrinks when NOT in a chase.

It sounds like a glitch or people are playing on some 80's low definition TVs.

I hate the stereotype that if I bring Urban Evasion it is assumed that I do nothing but hide all match. Yes I try to be sneaky but I do gens, rescue people, cleanse bones, lead the killer on a chase if he finds me. I bring UE+SB so if I hear a heartbeat I can try to hide first. If I'm found I can SB away to the nearest jungle gym to begin a chase.

Did you read the OP? The situation they describe doesn't really have a counter. In general I feel noed is fine, but in that situation there's fuckall you can do.
I read the post and it changes nothing. Even if NOED got bubba another down how would that have changed anything if he had used his chainsaw instead? That bubba camped someone to death and got another kill using noed. He probably got nothing for that match.

The "just bring x perk" argument completely ignores the contents of the post, by the way. It's a lose-lose scenario.
If NOED isn't in use, that's time wasted on something that isn't gens.
If it is, that's still time ticking down on the survivor left on hook and the others can't do anything about it until NOED is cleansed.
If you didn't see it before, in simple terms: NOED creates unwinnable scenarios in the killer's favor. No perk should do this.
NOED is not unwinnable. You can still escape with noed activated. You can even find the totem and cleanse it. The problem here is you are not adapting. Until you realize that you will still lose to noed.
-
NOED is fine. The problem is survivors don't want to counter it. So they come to the forums and cry. Hoping the devs will remove the perk. The last few patches there have been many buffs/perks to find totems.
Detective's hunch, small game now has a totem counter, Inner Str heals you if you cleanse a totem and hide in a locker. Pinheads perks inflicts a status affect until you cleanse a totem that you can see from like 16 meters. I secretly think the devs are trying to say "Cleanse da bones"

Freddy after the rework was always an overrated killer. He was a high B tier when he had those BS addons and now he's probably mid B at best. The problem is that Freddy showed the harsh truth to a lot of people: most survivors don't know how to loop. Freddy's chase is mediocre at best, but his teleport makes him always able to stay chasing survivors, so he doesn't lose games due to map size and survivors spread out. It's the same thing with people claiming current Wraith is OP.
The problem is that Freddy showed the harsh truth to a lot of people:most survivors don't know how to loop
That's about 90% of the complaints for this game. Often something isn't broken or there is a viable counter. People just don't want to admit they suck at the game. They want there to be a quick easy solution or say "This is OP and needs to be fixed" rather than accept they need to improve.

This is what you said: He’s CERTAINLY NOT top 3 after the recent nerd to his add-ons and snare placement.
My topic in summary was that reworked Freddy was top 3. Based off your response your saying it as if im talking about Freddy the way he is currently and im not so we're not in agreement because we're talking about two different things.. If you were talking about the topic then you'd say "He CERTAINLY "WASNT" top 3" then I'd say to you this is argurable.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2453129#Comment_2453129
The person that said this didnt elaborate on why he said what he said and when i brought up reasons why he never replied back. Freddy was a little better than Billy imo. I put Billy after the Freddy rework top 5 though which is still top tier. I personally think Hag is overrated but still top tie, i just dont agree that she is as high as people have (and still do) put her. I brought up the reasons why he was top 3 (which is argurable) you just chose to either not read fully or at all and instead just looked at the title. If you didnt "just" do these things you would not say " I need to prove he's top 3, not the other way around": Thats why i always tell people READ before you reply!

If you think Freddy was weak after the rework I dont know what to tell you...Actually i have no comment to this. Moving on
No I said freddy was weak AT RELEASE. When he came out years ago where you could only hit people if they were asleep. I said the reworked freddy is a vast improvement. Read the whole post please.

Freddy was never top 3, he was just low effort high reward. Even spirit looked like a vaguely skillful killer in comparison.
I dont feel spirit is as brain dead, easy to win as survivors claim she is. I completely loath it when the game gives me a spirit daily. I switch those out. I can't phase for crap and Nurse is my 2nd most used killer.

I felt at release he was weak. Survivors bitched and the devs made him even weaker.
-
I don't think reworked freddy is top tier but he is certainly in a better spot than he was at release. I remember finding someone opening the exit gates, touching them with my power and by the time they finally fell asleep. They opened the door and ran out.
-
The reasons these killers are meta is because their power either helps them in a chase or helps them apply pressure. In a game where you are pressed for time, anything that helps with that will be of up most importance. I like a lot of killers that aren't meta but they don't have map mobility or chase ending powers. That's why they aren't S tier.

I can agree with this statement. There's been times I've looped people and mindgamed them moderately well, then they Dead Hard, then just start looping again for maybe 15 seconds. If they didn't have that Dead Hard, they'd be dead faster. This ALSO applies to Exhaustion perks. Half the playerbase would lose 60% more games if Exhaustion perks got removed because they rely on them so heavily. Take away any speed-related perks, and the Survivors won't win (the ones that use them, at least).
I remember before there was exhaustion. You could stack SB, BL lithe and DH. Then when they added exhaustion so many people were saying killers would be unstoppable.
