You can't keep SB at 99% "forever". You can run around with it at 2 secs till it recharges but the moment you stop, you get it back and you have to use it. You can't work on a gen and keep SB at 99%. The moment you run you have to use it. If you want to run around all match with it at 99% just to juke me. Id rather have you do that than working on a gen.
Dead Hard on the other hand, you can keep that in your pocket until you need it. The only real counter to it are killers with one shot mechanics like Billy/Bubba or anything that causes expose.
-
Unfortunately as a survivor you can fail to rank up if the killer doesn't cooperate. Yes you lead them on an epic chase but because they were only chasing you, all other category's got zero points. They set it up this way so god loops can't just rank up by looping a killer. Or people who hide all game and do nothing but gens uninterrupted can't rank up. Granted that killer also got jack $#@% for that match too.

It's a mentality I honestly just don't understand. Yeah, sure, everyone likes to have bragging rights or whatever. But if you know that you got your success by cheating, why even bother? Where's the pride? Where's the sense of accomplishment? What is the actual point?
(*Shrug*) I guess I'll just never get some people.
I do not condone what cheaters do but I try to understand why they do it. I think there are some people out there who feel the only way they can have fun is if they are winning. So they will do anything to win even if it means rigging the game. An example is my nephew. He will constantly ask you to play something but when he is losing it changes from "You wanna play something?" to "I dont wanna play anymore :(" Years ago when Halo Reach came out I was messing around with the map maker. I made a fortress in the air and we played on that map often. It was myself, my dad, my nephew and my brother. Shortly after playing on the map we discovered a bug so to speak. Outside the fortress I had laid several vehicles. One of them was the warthog truck with the gauss blaster on top. When I was making the walls of the fortress I must have did something to them in the settings. Shots from vehicles passed through the walls as if nothing was even there. Since we were playing on split screen, we try not to look at each others screens, but you can't help it. It's right there in your vision. If you got on a tank or a gauss blaster outside you could kill someone in their spawn and there was absolutely nothing you could do about it. When we found this out we all agreed to stop using the vehicles outside. Well every few mins when my nephew was losing he would jump on the tank and start blasting us through the walls and laugh. The first time it was funny but he kept doing it. Like clockwork, every single time he was behind on kills he would cheat. Then after enough warnings we started to shut the game off. It took awhile but eventually my nephew learned that losing is better than not getting to play. Unfortunately the cheaters we have today don't have someone in real life to set them straight. If people see you are cheating and they all quit, big deal. They can just que up for another match.

Awesome that hackers are becoming so much more prevalent all of a sudden.
It could just be my imagination but it feels like the amount of hackers jumped up when the RE chapter released. Not saying RE's community is toxic but it's popular. When you introduce something popular into a game for the purpose of drawing in a large crowd. The more people you draw the greater the odds are some of them are hackers.

So long as the devs don't run out of license killers to grab, the game will keep going. When they run out they will be in trouble. This game lives on fresh blood. You can tell they are running out of ideas. The past few killers/survivors/perks are more like variants of existing powers. Pinhead looks cool but his power literally feels like deathslinger and clown had a threesome with the nurse.
Sub topic question.
Speaking of DBDs longevity. You think the devs would have abandoned dbd long ago if death garden didn't flop? When that game came out I got the impression bvhr was trying to walk away from dbds many problems.

Survivors start 99'ing sprintburst and 3/4 of killer player basis can't get a hit for 5 gens
You can't keep SB at 99 and if you have to stop working on a gen to do that. It's counter productive.

thats not true .. u can see that .. almost every game ... but different style..
p.s. u camp ? as killer all the time?
Only if it's beneficial to my objective. Most of the time I hook and go hunting. The only time I actually camp is if the gates are open and I have no means of downing someone else. At that point I'm securing my kill. If you don't like that then tough #########. You didn't buy my copy of the game. I'll play how I want.

Seeing as what's happening with stranger things. Why couldn't BHVR lose the license to Halloween instead?

Take away dead hard, half the survivor player basis can't loop.

it does not punish you for doing objective. technically you can still escape when NOED is active. It is a rewards given to the killer when losing his main objective. All killer perks that are featured in end game like No way out, Remember me, Blood warden, Fire up, Rancor, so on are perks that reward killer for losing his main objective.
A perk that would punish generator rushing would be a perk that powers a single generator after 5 generators are completed making it that you need to do 6 generators instead of 5. That perk would easily be killer version of second chance perk. I imagine adrenaline would be very popular perk if a killer perk like this existed.
All killer perks that are featured in end game like No way out, Remember me, Blood warden, Fire up, Rancor, so on are perks that reward killer for losing his main objective.
It's 4 vs 1. The killer needs perks that help the end game because against competent survivors. The killer will lose his objective. Yes you can complete a match with NOED activated but it's risky. If the killer has someone on the hook and has NOED. I don't even go for a save until I find that totem.

I mean
Mortal kombat has ton of people about people not being able to deal with heavy zoning
And zergling rush was also complained about
All these cheese strategy's are complained about
The few times I played SC online. If someone got me with a zergling rush or a quick dark templar build order. I don't scream at them for catching me off guard. I acknowledge I failed to scout and their tactic worked. When something doesn't go my way I try to find ways I can make it work for me. I don't cry for nerfs or assume the game should change to my needs.

Nothing but gens? Unhooks, heals, and chases don't count? What about all that plus 4 out of the 5 totems?
You know what I meant. NOED is there to punish people who complete their objective too quickly. When I'm playing survivor if were ahead I purposely stop doing gens to find totems for fear of NOED. There are times where the killing is playing well and you may not have time to find totems but the premise is the same. You rush gens without even looking for totems, you run the risk of NOED.

Really?
I saw it tons of time. One example complaining about people spamming or doing some attacks.
People trash talk all the time in pvp games and it is everywhere. When I played usfiv back in the day I got tons of hate mail regarding my playstyle and I played Vega lmao.
The only fighting game that has nice community is virtua fighter one but that is probably because it is a small one.
Well I don't mean I haven't seen people whine and complain. I see that a lot. What I meant was I have seen no other game where people moan and groan about "You should care if the other side isn't having fun". We competing against one another. Why should I adjust my play style if your losing? This isn't the special Olympics where everyone's a winner.
"You shouldn't play nurse because I know nothing but how to pallet loop"
"That's your problem"

I think he think it's not earned is cause the majority of instadown perks you have to do something to activate it, especially devour , with noed it's just a totem has to be not cleansed
I feel NOED is more of a punish insta vs earned. DH you need to actually work at it to get the effect. NOED is there to punish survivors for doing nothing but gens.

If you want anyone at BHVR to get fired, just ask them to sign off to this change and they'll be out of a job in 24h tops.
What scares me is considering some of the decisions BHVR has made in the past. I can totally see someone looking at this idea and saying "Brilliant!. I want it in the next patch"

I'll give you a hint. Not every killer who camps, tunnels, slugs. Does it to be toxic(nor is the act itself toxic). Or is angry with you. Or that you did anything
It's mind baffling to me that survivors don't see abusing strong tiles or gen rushing as toxic...Because that's their objective..What else are they supposed to do..Because that's the map given to you..What else are you supposed to do.
Yet killers objective is to hook survivors. Sacrifice them... But them doing it as effeciently as possible is toxic....? 🤷
I've never seen a game where people complain so much about someone doing their objective. I've never seen a mortal kombat player complain about scorpion tossing his spear. Or a Star Craft player who whined someone did a zergling rush. It's not a mod or a cheat. It's a mechanic that's in the game.
-
I think this is a terrible idea. Don't get me wrong, if someones rig is causing them to crash multiple times they shouldn't be playing but a week penalty for 3 strikes? My PC is pretty damn good and even I crash once in awhile. Punishing 3 people who did nothing wrong is not fair. If I'm in a swf and one of us DCs, it's not my fault he rage quit or he can't afford a decent machine.
-
Id much rather have a chapter with no new killers, survivors or maps at all. Instead it's dedicated entirely to game health.
-
Camping only rewards the killer is the survivors fall for it. If the killer reaches rank 1 by face camping the first person hooked. That tells me a lot of survivors suck at the game. As a trapper main. I learned long ago, sometimes you need to cut your loses.
-

It's not fun when you try to win in a game with factually terrible matchmaking, in a game that is not balanced.
It is fun when you just try to have fun. Try not focusing on rank or what the survivors say to you.
Agreed. Once I hit r1 for the achievement I stopped caring about my rank. The ranking system in this game is terrible and does not reflect skill.
As for OPs post. Sadly killer is the minority. When 4 people are sitting in que long enough, MM is only concerned with finding them a match. It doesn't care if they are higher skilled than you. Hence why BHVR is constantly pumping out chapters with new killers. They can't keep that part of the player basis. Fresh meat for the grinder.
-
While I appreciate a survivor main taking the time to see the other sides view. I have to point out something. The 40 matches and only 2 of them were 0k vs sweat lords. As you rank up, that percentage gets higher. Substantially.
-
I hate bias people who cry for nerfs instead of learning how to play. I fail to see how that is good?
-
@solidhex said:
Well i've seen some hackers but they're not common. Just lately played against a Trapper with some kind of fire cosmetics (like some kind of ultra legacy), who had some hacks which made finishing gens impossible, because skillchecks were non existent and as soon as you miss one all the progress got reseted to 0. Also he was like 200% speed when carrying people.
Some friends and I faced a Freddy who had a pretty unreal lunge. I've been playing since Freddy first released. I know his lunge and hit box are a little out of whack but this match it felt really odd. No clue if it was a hacker who was smart enough to make subtle changes to avoid getting caught or if there were some latency issues.
-
That's how they keep dbd going. It survives on fresh meat for the grinder.
-
In this game I've only seen 3 people who were clearing hacking/cheating. Seen a lot of stuff that was suspicious but not enough to file a report. As much as I hate cheaters I also don't want the game to have too much power. I remember for Doom Eternal there was an issue with their anti cheat software. It was a mandatory update that was required to play the game. To make sure you weren't cheating, it basically gave the game colonel access to your PC whenever you turned on the game. That's like giving someone a copy of your house keys and your trusting them not to steal #########. When I heard about this update I uninstalled the game. I really don't trust BHVR or anyone for that matter to give them that kind of access to my PC.
IMO, most things that happen in this game can be explained by perks, latency or some mechanic you may be unaware of. Which is why I often post a thread asking "Is this a hack?" before I file reports. Hell, I've been accused of wall hacking for using BBQ.
-
They could be new players just copying a build from their favorite streamer without actually knowing why said streamer runs those perks.
-
I'd like to add one thing. The balance team. For every thing they get right they break 4 other things. They sometimes fix issues no one complained about instead of the obvious issues that players have been asking for years. It took them 4 years to balance DS. I've said it in numerous posts before but I'll give the short version. In this games life there have been a few patches that can be described as "Who the $#@% thought this was a good idea?".
-
Any Nurse below god tier.

If your teammate is looping me right next to your hook. It's not camping and it's not my fault.

And then turn off crossplay? So you have horrendus queues? The game isn't worth playing at that point.
Don't forget the constant crashes and horrible frame rate issues.
-
TL:DR
Would you prefer tinkerer go back to what it was? It didn't use to be what it is today. It used to increase the effectiveness of killer add ons. That lead to some crazy OP builds like insta-saws and machine gun hatchets. That's why it was changed.
-
Most of the stuff survivors complain about just boils down to salt. They can't see what their teammates are doing or whats happening on the killer's end. Most people if they could see things from the others point of view, they would do the same thing in that situation.
"The killer tunneled me off the hook!"
"Instead of healing you touched a gen the moment you got unhooked and you were already hooked twice. You just showed you don't have DS. Of course the killer is gong to get rid of you"
"The killer is camping!"
"You teammate is looping right next to you."
"The killer ignored my teammate and went after me!"
"You teammate unhooked you and creeped away. All the killer see's is your blood stains. Who else are they going to chase?"
(My all time favorite) "The killer caught me. He must be OP!"
"No, you just got caught"

Make trapper bag base kit.

The Skaven would be proud :)
-
Like 3 years ago I finished reading Stephen King's Dark Tower series and I'm reminded on a line in one of the earlier books.
"Let this be a lesson kiddies. Fault lies with the one who places blame"
-
If the killer decides to chase you. Unless he changes targets or you manage to juke him. He is GOING to catch you. The game is not balanced around 1v1. It's 1v4. If you get tunneled it sucks. But if you wasted enough of the killers time you effectively won the match for your team.
-
Slowing down the gens would be too powerful in some circumstances. What we need is more ways for killers to apply pressure and get across the map. We could also due with a change to gen kicking. It takes a killer 2 secs to kick a gen but it takes a survivor a split second to stop the regression.

Bubba because the majority of the ones I face are first hook face campers.
-
Personally I don't think it's the MMR so much as solo sucks in this game. I almost never play survivor solo anymore because of terrible teammates. If friends are on I play swf, if I am alone I'm the killer.
-
I've had the game for 4 years on PC but I only have like 1k hours on it. I concur I only saw maybe 2 people who were clearly hacking and a lot of people who had some suspicious stuff but nothing concrete. I hardly play anymore unless friends want to swf so I wouldn't know if there is a rise in hackers lately. If there is an increase I can only think of the RE chapter. That probably drew in a good chunk of new players. The more people you have playing a game, the greater the odds of getting a hacker.
-
Personally I think if the only reason we don't have killer bots is the devs don't know how to make them. Every patch something breaks.
-

There's also a brown add on that does the same thing. Plaid Flannel.

Unfortunately that's a side effect of a rising player basis. The more people you have playing a game means more hackers. Hence why I prefer original characters for upcoming chapters instead of licensed ones.

Honestly I just gave up on speculating. I'll wait till we actually see the reveal. Sometimes were right but other times people are really, I mean REALLY, grasping for straws.

I personally don't like having to run 2 perks for 1 hex to be viable. Even before Undying we could run ruin+TOTH. There wasn't too many people doing that because you were in essence doubling down. If ruin got cleansed you were down 2 perks instead of one. That's how I feel about undying+ruin. Hex perks are already high risk. Devoting a 2nd perk to protect ruin doesn't feel like it negates risk.
