  • I prefer running Windows of opportunity. Just so I know where the windows and vaults are when I'm being chased.

  • I tried downloading the update today. Not that I plan on playing dbd but I keep up to date on it encase friends want to play. First time I tried downloading around 10am EST, it said "More than a year". About 20 mins after that it downloaded rather quickly. When it finished it said "Corrupted Update Files". I ended up verifying data integrity and it found nothing wrong. Yet after it finished doing this it downloaded the update again. The game turns on and all my stuff appears to still be there.

I find it's best to just play something else the day of an update. It's usually easier the next day when everyone isn't trying to download it.

  • I verified data integrity. Said it was fine but after it finished it re-downloaded the update.

  • I had the same issue. Now it says CORRUPTED UPDATE FILES

  • 2K, Ubisoft.

  • @Clowning said:

Uhm, literally nothing? This is the most important patch of all time.

    • Fixed an issue that caused The Executioner's rear to be too flat

Once again. Fixing an issue no one complained about to say they did something.

  • When it comes to picking a survivor or a killer. Survivors are literally skins. Your only picking them for their perks. Killers are at least unique(or copies). As many have stated. Ash's perks suck and Bubba has 2 very good perks. So Id pick Bubba.

  • Because BHVR wants to you play forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever

  • They really should just do away with perk tiers all together. Back when the game launched it made sense but now. There are so many perks the grind will still be substantial without tiers. However they aren't going too because the more grindy a game is, the longer you have to stay. The longer you stay the more money they get out of you.

  • I can't elaborate because the devs briefly mentioned it in a dev stream long ago. Basically it sounded like the EGC but at the beginning of a match. No word from it sense so it probably isn't happening.

  • Ash's chapter. MoM broke the game. The devs knew it was going too and they released it anyway. They knew it would shake up the meta and survivors would jump on it like flies to poop. Or the devs had no idea because they dont play their own game. Either way, they screwed up.

  • It's a common tactic among video games. Place something in your face, makes you grind your heart out for it, then 3 months later they put it in the shop so they can get more money.

  • All good suggestiongs but I think the best thing for trapper, as well as many other killers, is the early game warm up idea the devs have been teasing for a year. Trappers biggest weakness is the time it takes him to setup. Ruin will probably been seen as the survivors spawn in. Corrupt Intervention works but survivors tend to hide until it's gone. He also has no mobility or map pressure. Giving him a teleport would be lazy. If there was something that actually rpeventing survivors from immediantly working on gens, trapper would be able to place his traps before 3 gens pop.

  • @DBD78 said:

It's strange because I have seen the same thing and last game I vs a Trapper who had Lightborn and none of us had a flashlight so, very weird.

But that challange is stun or blind right? Because I did the challange doing only pallet stuns and one DS.

I think it is stun/blind, yes. I was just going for flashlight blinds because I felt I had a little more control over that vs a pallet stun.

  • @Aneurysm said:

I run lightborn when there's a lot of flashlights and then I run it when there's none because I forget to switch it off.

I never use it anymore. If I see 4 flashlights I bring franklins. If I down someone I either face a wall or fake the pick up to hit the person waiting for the flashlight save.

  • Up until now I've kept my mouth shut about RCPD because I hadn't really played in nearly a year. Last night I played swf and we were sent there a few times. My 2 cents on the map

    • is it way too big. You could probably cut it in half and have 2 separate maps. Have an east and west wing.
    • It reminds me of when the game first came out. There is not enough doorways. A huntress hooked a survivor in the basement. I was nearby and I swear that survivor damn near died on the hook by the time I found the stairs to get to the basement.
    • Gens are a pain to find. Other maps you can either see the gens or there's some telltale signs there's one nearby. The Game has doors that only open when the gen is completed. Myers map the lights in front of a house flicker to tell you the gen is inside and unfinished. Does RCPD have any of those signs?
    • The main entrance is too large. One match all a killer did was stand upstairs overlooking the main hall. They didn't even try to hunt anyone at all during the match. They just waited till someone used the hall to navigate, chased that person and then camped them. I don't have an issue with camping but this killer wasn't even patrolling. Might as well have slapped on insidious.
    • It is not designed for dbd. It is designed to look like Resident Evil. There's a lot of hallways that are too long and have zero pallets/vaults. It is a huntress wet dream. There is hardly anywhere to dodge a range attack. I imagine if the killer were Nemesis the zombies would practically block hallways.

Honestly that lol. I don't mind not having communication, as long as I can guarantee my teammates are good. Those situations where everyone is dead and hardly any gens have been done, are caused by bad teammates who prioritising searching all the chests and cleansing all the totems before even touching a generator. If more people knew how pallets worked and how to repair a gen and prioritise the objective over searching a chest, solo queue would be playable.

One night discord was down and my swf and I were playing without headsets /gasp What was funny was the stuff we setup without being able to talk to each other was pretty hilarious. One game it was huntress map against a gf. He snuck up on us at a gen and we all ran into the cabin. By dumb luck the guy he was chasing happened to run past the locker I was hiding in. I had Head On equipped. I smacked GF, my buddy made it to the 2nd story window and GF ended up changing targets. Headsets help but they are not required.

Considering the stuff that happens in this game. People get sliced, dice, put on hooks and some moris are gruesome. Bad language, nope. Can't have that. Bad for the kiddies.

    Samination would be pleased :p

I'd love to have him but I don't think at this point in the game they could give him a unique power or make him strong enough without some obnoxious skill cap. He'd really just be mishmash of other killers powers.

I can think of some cool powers but they would either be broken or a variant of an existing power. I thought he could like bust through walls but then they added breakable walls. Or make him turn into a mist and walk through walls(Nurses blink)

  • I usually don't have any signs that make me dodge a lobby. If I see 4 survivors with keys/flash lights and they are obviously a swf. I equip franklins and watch them die trying to pick up their precious keys. It's like Golem after he loses the ring. "Lost!!!!! My precious is lost!"

Nah, he will get a pass, just like Clown, Bubba and Doctor, they will eventually get to Trapper. It’s taking them forever though, I guess due to their terrible jobs with The Twins and Trickster.

He doesn’t need much though, especially not a full rework. He should start the match with 3 traps and have faster setting speed. The only other two things I can think of without making him OP is to make sure Traps spawn closer to the center of the maps and for the traps to take on a hue that is closer to the color of the ground they’re on, since nowadays grass is nonexistent and the traps stand out so much (Ormond).

He has been given many quality of life changes over the years but he still needs more. Like you said he needs to be able to carry more than 1 trap without add ons. It would also be nice if he could refill his traps at lockers instead of running across the map to pick them up. The thing I think would really help him, help all M1 kills, is this early game warm up the devs talked about a year ago. Much like the end game collapse but at the start of the match before they can work on gens. That would buy him some much needed setup time without relying on perks.

Sometimes I wonder if reason they leave Trapper in state he's in is because they're holding out hope for Jason and plan on him being similar so want to make sure the license character is stronger than the free character.

Every time I hear the Jason law suit is settled it seems to start back up again. I actually hope we never get Jason because I know BHVR isn't going to do him justice. Jason needs to be Nurse lvl(before cd's were added) if dbd wants him.

  • The devs aren't going to fix trapper because they can't sell him to us as DLC. If they make a "new" character that's more money for them.

  • Considering some of the decisions BHVR has made over the years. I was always under the impression they balance the game around the bottom 30%.

  • My favorite survivor is one that is on a hook.

  • It took us 4 years to get the DS nerf but it eventually became a reality. Keep dreaming I guess.

  • Ferengi rule's of acquisition number 1

Once you have their money, you never give it back.

  • XCOM2 or Phoenix Point cause I love strategy games, Vermintide 2, Phasmophobia, Among Us, Warhammer 2, Final Fantasy 14, Bloodborne(if I want a miserable time), horde on Gears of War 5 to chill out.

you can't tell if the 5 hour ban is legit or not can you? you also can't tell why the guy DC'ed either... You have to assume it is legit but the problem here isn't the timer the problem here is the DC penalty itself being in effect when the game performance has been in an all time low, we're not ready to have the DC penalty back. And if this person was victim of a bug then he got robbed of plenty of playtime....

You don't get hit by a 5 hour ban if you DCed once. You have to DC a #@$% ton to get that much time. If every single one of those DCs were as a result of bad internet connection then that person needs to either fix their platform or play something else.

  • @lemonsway said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2403474#Comment_2403474

I'm not saying all of them are legit, i'm telling you the reverse, not all of the DC's are bad sport players. And considering how badly the game has been performance wise there's no reason to have the DC penalty back already. Switch is noly getting patched this week, think about this, think about how manny problems switch players have to endure if they wanna play. If they have DC penalty they eithe endure the shitstorm performance because they get locked out if they DC or just don't play at all...not getting value out of their money spent on the game.

Not all are legit but an overwhelming vast majority are bad sports. Which is why the dc penalty is in place. If real life stuff comes up once in awhile you will barely get hit by it. If you get hit by a 5 hour ban, you deserved it.

I never said that you did, but when you said, "Headsets were not intended to be required for gameplay" — I told you, "So, you going to knock on BHVR's door and ask them to remove SWF?" to imply the fact that SWF isn't going anywhere and that this issue needs to be addressed other than dismissing it because you think it shouldn't exist. So, what's the plan of action to fixing the imbalance of power between solos and SWF? You want to keep the imbalance of power, making solos miserable to play while SWF can still destroy killers? This is pretty unhealthy for the game because the developers can't balance the game when survivors fluctuate in power. If the developers can balance the power between solos and SWF, then killers can properly be balanced because of that.

I dont know how or even if they can balance the game at this point. What I can tell you is buffing solo to be as strong as swf will cause the killer basis to plummet. That might actually be even worse. Which is why I think solo's should just git gud over getting buffs. If you have 4 survivors who can't talk to one another but they are competent. You can beat the killer.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2403460#Comment_2403460

You for real? A DC can happen for any reason and you're immediatly accusing the DC of bad sport, that's what you're doing, you're being toxic, yes. You don't have to care for their feelings but you can't tell why they DC'ed either so why should they be banned regardless of motive? If power goes out, if internet goes out, if game crashes, etc are you saying these things should punish you still? Wow very considerate of you.

The majority of people I see DC are at very VERY convenient times. They step in a trap, they failed a mind game, they got found first, they dced the moment they got downed, they got grabbed off a locker. Don't expect me to believe ALLLLLL of those were legit DC's and not people being salty.

  • This is why the DC penalty is in place.

  • @NMCKE said:

So, you going to knock on BHVR's door and ask them to remove SWF? I doubt you will get far with that, and it would kill the game because a lot of people want SWF to play with their friends.

The next solution is to bring solos and SWF together by giving solos information that SWF already have, then compensate killers accordingly.

I did not say anything about removing swf. I said when the game was made it wasnt intended that you be able to talk to one another. In fact, swf wasnt even in the game at launch. It was added later.

As for bringing solo and swf together and killer being compensated accordingly. Killer rarely is compensated accordingly. Or even compensated for that matter. Which is why I feel solo should not be brought up to swfs lvl of power.

  • @NMCKE said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2403006#Comment_2403006

Even experienced survivors will get screwed over by the flaws of solo queue because they have no communication to coordinate. If this meant making killer really powerful as compensation, I'll take it so that solo queue isn't painful to play.

By the way, I don't care if I get sacrificed, just want decent games that don't end with five generators remaining. I want to feel like I got owned by the killer, not because of the no communication in solo queue that carried the killer.

Your werent meant to have communication. Headsets were not intended to be required for gameplay. There's also perks that help give information such as kindred, bond, empathy.

Isn't that what matchmaking is supposed to address though?

Nobody should NEED to git gud. Four solos that haven't quite yet gotten gud should be versing a killer that has also so far been unable to reach the dizzy heights of gud.

That's in a game where MM actually works. The learning curve of this game is so steep that the MM only cares about quicker que times. That's why you get killers at r18 facing all reds or yellow survivors facing a red killer.

    When it's not competitive.

so fall guys a competitive game aswell. Lets start esports fall guys then.

Again, it's people pitted against one another. So yes, fall guys is competitive. Just because a game doesn't have tournaments and esports media does not mean it's casual. Gears 5 is comeptitve but I consider horde to be casual because it's people vs the AI.

  • @Apexgnifrums said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2402014#Comment_2402014

But in a casual game? Even Apex legends doesnt punish rage quitters in normal Q and everyone seems fine with that. Because if you dont want to have rage quit mates you can either play with friends or play ranked where rage quits are much rarer

I'm tired of people under the illusion this is a casual game. This game is not casual by any means. 2 sides, human controlled, are pitted against one another. Here's the google definition of competitive game.

"Competitive games are those in which players play against one another and where one player winning means another player loses."

It's not super competitive e-sports lvl but by the very definition listed above, this is a competitive game.

and to your question. Look how many people quit when the DC penalty was turned off. Even if the game is busted the DC penalty should remain on because 1 DCer is ruining the game for 4 other people. I don't care if your not having fun, if you hate fighting X killer, if you got found first or if you missed your DS. You aren't the only person playing. 4 other people paid money for this game too. The only reason you should DC is if real life stuff comes up. Any other time is not acceptable. If your constantly crashing due to bugs then the best thing you can do is play something else. Your wallet speaks louder than your words. The devs won't fix it so long as people are playing their broken game.

  • I started playing ff14 again. I only play dbd now if friends want to swf.
