  • My loadout is 3 perks that completely counter boon totems.

    1: play

    2: something

    3: else

    :p

  • Anytime there's a new update the game tends to crash. Most players know not to play the day of it's launch.

  • People talk a big game but when it comes time to back it up. Most fold.

  • I feel survivors dont think that far ahead. They want a killer to get nerfed for "reasons" so they whine to bhvr. They cave in and nerf said killer. Survivors think those killer mains will then use a killer thats more "fun"(for survivors) and the game will improve. What actually happens is 1 of 2 things.

1: that killer whose main got nerfed then jumps to the next meta killer. Survivors complain about the new killer being seen every match and they whine to bhvr. Seeing a pattern here?

2: that killer is fed up with having all the bp and time invested wasted. They play something else. Survivors whine to bhvr their que times are too long. Bhvr gets a licensed killer to attract fresh meat. The circle of life :p

  • As much as i like the idea, we all know bhvr cant do it. They cant release a simple QoL change without breaking something else.

    What is an NFT?

An NFT is basically this: A digital receipt saying that you own something digital. In the case of the NFT's with Hellraiser, it's basically the models you see in Dead By Daylight. You know, those same models you can find in folders in the game. So basically it's just a receipt. It has ZERO legal standing. Basically it's just bragging rights so you can say "I own this!" and not be technically lying. (More accurately, you're saying "I paid for this" rather than that you "Own this")

Why is this causing a commotion?

Because NFT's are basically a scam. And on top of that, they require exorbitant amounts of energy usage. I'm talking a LOT of energy usage for just one transaction. To give you an idea in terms of Dead By Daylight: Imagine Otzdarva makes a video. It's a 3 hour video, like most of them are. He makes a WHOLE bunch of them. And you watch them all. (He's very informative.) You watch 5 of them every day for a year. The amount of energy you use watching youtube for all that time, would STILL be less than that used for one ethereum transaction -- which again, is basically to get bragging rights for something with absolutely no legal standing.

    Summary

NFT's are pretty much a money-making scheme to get stupid people to buy something worthless, and in turn use a WHOLE LOT of Energy to do so. And BHVR is promoting them.

He spent way too long committing to Cheryl and didn't capitalize on Corrupt by searching gens. The whole point of Corrupt is to cut down your patrol route, yet he sticks to the Cheryl in the part of the map where she can't do anything. It's actually really hard to tell when the match starts because of how the video is cut. But it still supports my argument of killers not managing time well. CM chose a bad chase in a bad part of the map and the survivors were efficient by splitting on 3 gens. All of this was his fault for making bad choices, not the survivors.

Had he broken off from Cheryl that would have changed nothing if he had to find another person and they looped the killer in an area that still had pallets. And what happens when all survivors can loop as good as Cheryl? Cause not all matches have a weak link.

  • When balancing the game Bhvr does not consider the survivors actually working together. They also favor new players over veterans. Thus the game breaks once survivors know how to play or are using headsets.

  • I wouldn't say the old system was balanced. Far from it but it was better than what we got now. Before I could have a chance of having a chill match. Now it's always going to be a try hard match.

I would like to hear OPs thoughts on this as well.

  • Ive seen a lot of subtle things that might not be hacks but they happen so frequently it cant be coincidence. Like killers that hook someone and immediately run in the direction of another survivor. Despite having zero tracking perks to explain. It could be just luck or intuition but it happenes after every, single, hook. Im not talking hooking someone and going to a gen to find a survivor. Im talking hook someone and run in a straight line to a person near nothing, looking for totems. Like the killer had zero reason to be in that area unless they knew someone was there.

I normally chalk it up to luck or something i dont know about so i hardly ever file a report. Ive been accused of hacking numerous times. Im too stupid to learn how to do that :p but when something weird happens ill be like "how?" Then if it happens again ill think "suspicious but okay. If it happens again im filing a report"

I doubt they can do much about licensed maps, especially one from a game.

They probably cant change the map too much because it belongs to capcom. Bhvr probably spent a big chunk of cash to get the license so the map is enabled so they can get use out of their purchase.

"Back in my day, we used to scratch tunnels through brick walls with our bare hands until your fingernails eroded away, just for the challenge!"

"All right, grandpa, let's get you to bed"

"Beware the old man. In a land where men die young"

When you get older youll begin to understand. Kids will have something cool that makes life easier and you will say "wth? we didnt have stuff like that when we were kids"

  • The more we know about a system the more evidence we have to prove they dont have a clue what theyre doing.

One of the upcoming boons hides auras in a radius - the same one which is gonna make scratch marks even less helpful in a chase.

Im not too worried. It sounds annoying but unless its stronger than the meta survivors wont run it. Theyve had lockers and distortions for years to hide from bbq and they never use them.

  • What did they do to bbq?

  • Back 4 blood just came out. My usual crew are playing that instead of dbd. Were tired of the bs.

Because they aren't designed to be. They're designed to be renewable safe areas the survivor will want to leave their objective to take advantage of, and that's why they're a good idea for the game. Time survivors spend travelling to a boon totem or lighting a boon totem to begin with is time they're not spending on a generator.

Much can be said about whether this'll work as well as it could due to poor totem placement and other factors, but the answer isn't to make them single use, or even limited use. They have a very specific idea in mind that people who claim they should be permanently breakable are completely ignoring.

While i agree anything that takes a survivor off a gen is good. The issue is killer already has enough tasks to worry about. Adding more stuff to survivor is good but killer is already pressed for time.

  • The thing is many many many people use the word unfun when they dont want to git gud. Instead of improving they want the game brought down to their lvl so they dont have to work for it.

  • Thats my biggest issue with boon totems. I cant relite ruin or devour hope. Why arent their totem perks high risk like mine?

I think Old Ruin was actually good for the newbs. I mean, that is how I learned to hit Great Skill Checks.

It teached you more than it punished you.

I agree but these days obstacles are not to be overcome. They are to be removed because the current generation thinks there should be no hardship.

  • @Aneurysm said:

Old ruin now that undying exists, now that tinkerer has been buffed, and it synergises with pop again? I'll pass. Imagine those four perks together on a nurse or something in soloQ

Kinda sounds like facing 4 ds's, 4 dh's, 4 bt's and 4 iron wills? Yet that is perfectly allowed.

  • Old ruin was very effective for m1 killers with no mobility. It actually slowed down gens without requiring you to push them off it. While new ruin rewards killers for applying pressure, the fact is many killers kits suck at doing that. Good survivors either found it right away or they hit great skill checks.

But the perk was too good against newbs and instead of telling them to git gud, bhvr made the game harder for everyone else.

  • Are boon totems still infinite? Like if a survivor blesses a totem, i find and remove it. Can they just bless it again?

  • All you need to know is its a poor system that doesnt work :p

  • I usually only buy cosmetics very rarely. The last one i bought was the blighted nurse outfit. Usually when a new licensed chapter releases i buy it unless i think its garbage. If its not licensed i spend shards because i feel its not worth my money. Hell i had shards lying around and i didnt even unlock trickster+twins until recently. Trickster i unlocked for starstruck and no way out. Never played a single game as him. Twins i unlocked because of pinhead. If not for the hoarder mixing so well with the box i wouldnt have unlocked them. Thats probably why hoarder hasnt been changed. Bhvr has to know people are buying that awful killer just because of pinhead and they dont want to lose that money. Its also why i felt ds took 4 years to balance because the halloween chapter makes them money.

  • 1: the devs

    2: the design team

    3: the community

  • Can we switch? I keep getting sent to haddonfield and bedham.

Ghostface in my opinion is the worst killer. Didn't say he was the worst period but as far as his power, playstyle etc he is substantially weaker than all other killers

Ghosty at least can turn off his TR at will and try to get the drop on people. I feel legion and twins are worse than him.

  • @ad19970 said:

The problem I have with Pinhead is that his actual, skill based ability is simply to weak for the effort it takes, but his passive is arguably too strong.

I hope that the devs change Pinhead by buffing his possessed chains in a few ways, to make their average use case simply a bit more effective and therefore rewarding, and then nerf the box for solo survivors by having the aura of all survivors, that are within, lets say, a 32 meter range of the box, revealed to all survivors in the match. And when chain hunt starts, maybe even have all survivors auras revealed to each other map wide.

This would help solo survivors be able to better judge whether they should go for the box or not. The biggest problem I see is that in solo queue, sometimes multiple survivors go running to the box, and other times nobody gets the box. SWF teams, at least 3 and 4 man swf teams, don't have that problem.

And then on the other hand, Pinheads actual ability that takes a good amounf of skill, is better and more effective in chases when buffed, which would arguably make him more viable against the really good survivor teams, especially swf, but not as oppressive against solo teams, or survivor teams with not as much experience.

I hope they buff his chains but leave the box alone. Against survivors with brains in their heads, unless your running hoarder+franklins and range add ons, it's not difficult for them to solve it. We shouldnt be adjusting the game for solos because swf is too damn strong.

  • Beginning to get tired?

I've been tired for at least 3 years now. I only play when friends want to swf and they uninstalled after the new mmr system came out. I lost faith in bhvr ever since 1.9.2. For me that was the big "######### were you thinking?" moment.

  • I feel removing perk tiers would cut the grind better than making our farming perks base kit. A better system would be to let us flat out purchase the perks we want instead of rng but that'll never happen. The devs know a lot of their perks are filler and no one would unlock them if they didn't have too.

  • I've been told I'm toxic for hitting a survivor with my weapon.

  • Swf isnt keeping this game going. The frequent influx of fresh meat attracted by licensed killers is whats keeping it going.

  • As a killer i cant stand the threads that say "im a killer main. I never tunnel or camp or slug and i always 4k". To me this is either a salty survivor main posing as a killer to make their arguments sound credible. Or its a killer who has only been facing newbs. They have no clue what the game is really like at higher mmr but because they are getting matched against baby survivors, they think they are good.

  • @Nathan13 said:

    Neither tbh

Knowing bhvr. They'll adjust something no one was complaining about to say they did something.

  • Unless i pull off a juke or the killer changes targets. Once a chase begins he is "going" to catch me eventually. That doesnt mean you failed. If it bought enough time for your team to do gens then you did well.

In my usual swf there is one among us who is a good looper. Often when he leads the killer on a chase he unknowingly runs by us working on a gen. The killer usually see's "this guy is good at looping. I better find a weak link" and goes after us instead. Our teammate is not doing it on purpose. When being chased you cant be picky where you lead the killer. However it happens so often that some of us started running bond. For the sole purpose that we could see him coming and we know to get out.

  • @Mat_Sella said:

    Never seen that before, truthfully.

    Me neither

  • I personally think theres an algorithm in the background that adjusts our dailies based on que times. If theres a low number playing one side they start giving you dailies to get you to play them.

Ive noticed i get dailies for killers i never use or i get a lot of survivor dailies at once.

  • When freddy first released he was the weakest killer in the game. Until they made legion. It wasnt until like 2 years latter did they rework him to what he is today. Now he's decent. Before he was terrible outside of 2 specific add ons.

Old Freddy your power was just a laser pointer. Touching a survivor with it caused them to fall asleep...........in 7 secs. The kicker was freddy couldnt even hurt a survivor unless they were asleep. I had games where its 1 survivor left. He's opening the exit gate. By the time he fell asleep the door was opened and he ran out. Freddy didnt have snares, fake pallets or a teleport back then. People didnt gradually fall asleep either. Current freddy is a major improvement over the beta.

  • Whats terrible about the new sbmm is they were working on this for how long? I hope it doesnt take them 4 years to fix it.

Iโ€™m sure the devs would find something to make him less frustrating to play against while keeping him good.

No Im certain any change the devs make will hinder him more than help. They have proven time and again they dont know what they are doing.

Ill continue to grind on other Killers to prestige Pinhead and get him a spectrum of perks (expensive, cos I have too many Killer pool perks already to cycle through).

And once Im done with that, I will probably play him once in a blue moon, just to get that Hellraiser feel into DBD.

Hoarder was in the Shrine store btw recently, and I bought that with shards for the same reason as you, but I did not buy Twins and dont intend to.

Ive run a few Trials (5 or so) with Pinhead with NO perks slotted, utterly empty layout, and ended up with 4K in half of them. But for some reason in those I was matched against quite easy Survivors. I didnt even use remote Chain much (still learning), nor know how to capitalize on the Box.

Im not inexperienced in DBD as a Killer main, and on my favorite Doc I have MUCH harder matches, so from that I can suggest that current matchmaking is Killer character specific, or perhaps that if you slot NO perks, you end up in a lowet bracket in matchmaking.

    Confusing.

Anyways, Im glad Pinhead is in the game, whether weak or strong, and when I flip to Survivor occasionally, I love when I rarely meet him, as its like being in a Hellraiser movie :D

I find pinheads regular power is best at loops. Using at someone far away isn't very rewarding. By the time you launch the portal and chain them. They are already broken long before you get there. At loops it's great for holding someone up just before a pallet or a vault. I treat it like a nurse blink. Try to land it right on top of the survivor and fire right away. If I take a sec to aim they end up 360ing me and I miss the chain. It's pretty punishing when you miss a chain. Hence why I only use it at close range.

The popular method for playing pinhead seems to be range add ons with hoarder, franklins, ruin, undying. When someone picks up the box you will get a notification. If they aren't far away and they try to solve the box. Use your chains to interrupt them. Then chase them down. Knock the box out of their hands to initiate a chain hunt and ruin helps regress the gens. I find Pinhead's 1v1 isn't that good but his 4v1 is actually amazing. If you can start a chain hunt it is a lot of pressure.

Im a huge Hellraiser fan, and have a post buried somewhere here that I suggested him as a Killer long time ago.

But am I playing him after I bought him?

    No.

Im just grinding on Doc for BPs to buy Pinhead's prestige levels so I have a nice bloody Pinhead to look at.

So did BHVR make money off me? Yes.

    Am I playing Pinhead? No.

Why am I not playing him? Cos he was poorly implemented and not competetive. I bought it just as something to look at as a 3d model.

I actually like using pinhead. His chain hunt is amazing if you can get it to activate. But I feel the same way when it comes to new killers. The last 3 original killers I bought with shards because I felt they weren't worth actual money. Hell, I literally just got the twins and that was only because I heard hoarder is amazing on pinhead.

I know, thats the biggest issue. However, doesnt it scratch a tiny little bit on their pride to see NON-HORROR-GAMES bringing better halloween events than their own HORROR-GAME? I personally would feel weird as a dev.

Im lazy. If i was a dev for bhvr. So long as i have a good paycheck i wouldnt care what other games do with their events. Im joking but i wonder if there are actual devs at bhvr like this.
