You have it backwards.
It's the people that AREN'T tunnelers that are upset with DS, because you can use DS even when you are not being tunneled.
-
What worries me most about this thread is that I don't think the OP is trolling.
I think they are actually serious, which is a new level of horror for this game.

That room pictured was one of the best loops still in the game.
That sounds like code for "Walk away and find a different Survivor".
Most of my time on Gideon as a Survivor is finding a hole to drop down, walking away in a random direction to not leave scratch marks, and hope the Killer picked the wrong way to check.
-
Wait, wait, wait...
Gideon had loops?
-
People keep saying "this is a thread necro" as if this stuff isn't still relevant a year later when it absolutely, 100% is.

One up clicky healing on pallets head on and hiding in locker for a ds only to waste it and at end game being killed and triggering warden feels soooo good
King illegal forest to pig wild kill in it a is!

I have a fantastic idea for long term players.
How about you can take a level 50 character, and reset it to level 1. This will wipe all of that character's progression but give you a new cosmetic of that character's base skin, but with a bloodied texture to show your Veteran status!
You could do this three times, once per slot of the skin, until you eventually get all three pieces.
And on the second run-through of the bloodweb, we'll improve the items that appear slightly.
I'm still working on the name for this system.
-
Freddy with Tinkerer is broken? Freddy with Tinkerer sounds redundant. He is already Undetectable half the time anyway. Unless it's about the gen alert. In which case, walk away from the gen and see if he commits to the teleport. If he doesn't, get back on it.
I'm more annoyed at Freddy's Iridescent add-ons, but whatever.

DC is the best tool against tunneling. This is critical to the game.
DC is needed, but it should not work if he survivor does something like jump into a locker, or once all 5 Gens are done.
DC window to trigger should even be easier, as it shouldn't be that hard to miss.
Tunneling is Toxic and needs a counter. you don't Tunnel, you don't need to worry about DC (however at end game collapse, I strongly feel it should turn off, as its all chaos at this point anyway)
Utter garbage statement right here:
"you don't Tunnel, you don't need to worry about DC"
If I hit you, down you, hook you, leave you alone, and let you get unhooked... and then I go and chase two other survivors, hook one, and then you save him, and I down you after the save... you can still Decisive Strike me despite the fact I went out of my way not to tunnel.
60 seconds can be a long, LONG time.
-
Depends.
If they were just good, like they out-chased me.... then no. I can accept when I get outplayed. But If you hit me in the head with a pallet, t-bagged me four times, then flashlight clicked me...
-
This is why I play Killer as early in the day as possible. I won't play Killer after 7:00PM.

Why does the Shrine not count, exactly?

There is not enough red rank killers for red rank survivors.
You can't just have red rank players waiting forever.

As far as new players go, the afk killers are purposely deranking to stomp and bully those very people.
Yeah, unfortunately, there's not much new players can do about that.

So you like it because of it's design, not gameplay? Please man, I'm grasping at straws here.
I just don't have an issue with the design. I like where the exit gates go. I like the vehicles in the street. I like upstairs windows I can jump out of it. Killer side I like the long rows of fence and hedge I can throw hatches as Huntress and as Pyramidhead I like the walls I can blast through and hit on the other side.
I just don't see what all the REEEEEE is.
If we want to take maps that can go to hell, my vote is for Midwich.

Please don't tell me you're serious.
I am. I love it. It is the only map set in a town. I love the buildings, the bushes, the backyards. Springwood is CLOSE, but not quite.
I am sick of having like 5 flavors of Autohaven, or all those Coldwind maps. Or those outdoorsey maps that go on forever like Red Forest.
I love Haddonfield.

I love that map. On both sides.

I don't think SWF is killing the game. If anything I think it is a large draw. I certainly feel more like playing after 5:00PM when my friends are online.
What ISN'T fair is those SWF facing people in brown ranks.
-
I do think more offerings need to be secret. Right now it is just... what? Mori and Separation?
-
Blood Pact
For a perk that SOUNDS cool, it's a terrible aura reading perk for ONE person, that stops working if you are both healthy. It gives a speed boost that only works if you are tied at the hip, and shuts down completely if you become the Obsession.
The whole thing needs a total rework.

Most keys go unused and/or wasted, and are chosen at the expense of more useful items for the rest of the game. Honestly I don’t understand why you killers are so afraid of them. They’re part of the game and have been for a long time so it’s about time to get over it. If you see someone with a key then prioritize them over others if they bother you so much. If a survivor brings a key into the game and manages to live long enough to use it then they’re exhibiting a lot more skill then you’re giving them credit for.
We are not afraid of them. We are sick of them. It boggles my mind that Survivors will cry ENDLESSLY about No One Escapes Death, shouting "tHeY aRe kIlLs yOu dIdN't eArN!11!" and then turn around and defend Keys, even going so far as to hypocritically say "The devs put them in the game, deal with it".
-
I have no problem with toolboxes. Using toolboxes to fight back against perks like Hex: Ruin is totally fair in my book.
Keys are not. Screw your keys. Keys are a cop-out. It's like DCing, but getting paid for it. You should not be able to win the game for yourself because you found the hatch early and pressed a single button.
If I see 2 or more Keys in a lobby, I'm out. And if you try that last second Key swap right before the timer goes red I will tunnel you into Oblivion.

I hate to say it, but if an AFK killer is what you need to get things done as a survivor, then a game like this probably isn't for you.. or your friend.
They are called new players. I know a lot of you have years in this game, every perk at purple, everyone at level 50, et al.
Some people started during the holidays, and to those new people "Open an Exit Gate with Detective Tapp", who is a level 1 character with no perks, is a gigantic pain in the ass.

"but you cant just remove decisive strike because the quality of life for a significant number of survivors would dip drastically"
If ONE perk in the whole game is that profound then it absolutely needs to go.

I doubt many people would be complaining if the grind for this game was so long. Many have waited a long time for this, only to see we're basically going to be getting nothing on top of it now going to be harder to get to rank one.
I deeply question what someone that has been playing this game for four years has left to grind.

Exactly. Whats wrong with that?
Because it takes new content progression out of the game.
-
"It's not worth my time to reach those ranks!"
Half the people crying this refrain are in those ranks already anyway. You are getting paid for doing the same thing you were already doing. Jesus Christ.
-
Why do you need a dragon's hoard of blood points?
Either you need to spend blood points, in which case just spend them...
OR
You have every character at 50, Prestige 3, with every perk load out. In which case, who cares if you are capped?
It sounds to me like you just want to be able to blood point bomb a fresh prestige or new character.

You have been around since video games were invented? What are you? 70?

AFK killer is actually worse in my eyes. The reason people say DCing is so bad is because it ruins the rest of the game for everyone it the match, but it just makes it into a 3v1 which yes can suck as a survivor and killer but it can also still be fun and you still get to play the game and interact. And AFK killer ruins that match completely. The whole point of the game is to interact/chase/hide from the killer which you can’t do if they’re AFK but you can if it’s 3 v 1
Nah, I'll stick take the one that lets me finish my daily and archives.
Your kind of thinking comes from the mindset of a player that likely already has most of the perks they want and are not desperate for blood points.
-
@GamerGirlFeng said:
AFK killers are the equivalent of DCers. You can't condone one while shaming the other.
SWFs aren't to blame. If killer mains on this forum preach anything, its to accept the challenge or don't play at all.
They are NOT the equivalent. At all. A DC'er ends the game. An AFK'er makes it easy mode.
When my new friend needs to unlock a door with Ace for a daily, she can do that against an AFK, she can't against a DC.
Need to unlock 3 chests?
Cleanse totems?
Get a new item and escape with it?
Harvest a Canker?
You can do none of these things against a DCer.
-
Stay where you are. The FBI would like a word with you.
-
You can blame SWF red rank survivors.
Killers right now don't want to play against them. So a certain point is reached where you have to de-pip in order to face a survivor team you feel you even remotely have a chance against. Congratulations! You found your depipping AFK killer!
Enjoy the free points. Here's a tip: you can get Boldness points by running around in circles, but you only get credit if you are moving. Holding still next to the killer doesn't count as chase time.
If you don't like it, you may want to have a word with your Object of Obsession using, Small PP Build, Teabagging, Flashlight Clicking SWF pals down there in the red zone that make the game unfun for the Killers.

I was just throwing suggestions about how to reduce the grind. People are going to play however tf they want regardless of if you can get 3 points in a category or 2 million. Making a post about just suggestions to reduce the grind (it doesn't mean it's going to happen) about bad behavior in a game is kind of dumb ngl.
Fastest thing would be to eliminate perk tiers and just adjust every perk to Tier 3. Right now each perk sucks 15,000 blood points to get them out of your web forever.

A. The world does not revolve around survivors
B. What you said already happens I see it close to every match I play (literally people have complained about bp grind when they literally say "All I do is flashlight" "All I do is gens" "All I do is heal")
PS: I play both sides every day
Just because you see it doesn't mean it should be rewarded.
-
@ChurchofPig said:
This is how I'd fix it
First: take out the cap on the amount of bloodpoints you can get in a match/the individual categories
Second: Fix certain score events so they feel like they're in the correct category (Hatch Escape for example being moved from objective to survival or Corrupt Purge Damage moved from Brutality to Deviousness for Plague)
Is there anything else I'm missing? Those are 2 things I'd change, how about you guys?
Taking the cap off of categories would encourage people to neglect certain activities. You'd get the guy doing nothing but gens, the guy doing nothing but screwing around with the flashlight, etc. A think having Survivors do well-rounded activities is important.
-
Is this what a dying game looks like? Asking for a friend.
-
I would be okay with this in some, controlled ways. Colors are fine. Moving the existing things around is fine.
I do not want an open API full-blow mod nonsense like World of Warcraft became.

@oskar0ch said:
When survivors aren't chased by the killer during a match and escape, they still lose bloodpoints and may even cause them to derank.
For example, if the killer spends the whole match chasing another survivor and never start a chase with you, you're punished.
If you decide to be stealthy and avoid the killer to focus on objectives, you're punished.
You should not have to come in contact with the killer in order to gain bloodpoints to progress, the point of the game is to avoid the killer and escape.
Yes, you should.
You absolutely CAN just do gens and escape, and being my team's ninja, I often do. But I don't complain about getting low points, because I made the choice not to engage.
Dead by Daylight is designed to interact with the Killer. Have you considered trying to save those people getting chased? Unhook them? Take Protection Hits?
The game is scored in four categories. If you need help understanding ways to better do that, read the text on We're Gonna Live Forever.
-
"Rank means nothing, but why the [BAD WORD], if I'm playing with my friends in SWF, most of the times, I either derank, or black pip. I played about 10 SWF games today as 3, I went from rank 1 to rank 2 in a row, because we completely destroyed those killers, no chances for them. On the other side, half of the killers were playing like rank 15-10. Survivors are punished by the ranking system if they are Good, or killers are Bad. In either case, it's because lack of actions to grind for the emblems. And we aren't even sweating, just playing with brain."
What an absolute joke of a paragraph. You want people to feel sorry for you not getting being rank rewarded better because you are just TOOOO good at the game.
Here's a tissue. Try not to de-pip it.

Make it so that the key only opens hatch after the killer has closed it.
It makes it about as useful as a Mori. See situationally useful, but largely useless. Just like the current Mori.
Sounds fair to me.

You...realise you could just use both bottles to get the speed boost while survivors get no net benefit and you can use it to get around the map faster. Sure, you'd need to reload more...but it's losing 40% of the time necessary to do this, which more than offsets it.
Moreover, the Clown's only real issue was map pressure; they've given him a means to improve his mobility, which in turn helps his map pressure. He didn't even really need anything much in the first place.
I'm sorry that giving a killer more options and increasing their skill cap is a problem for you, though. :)
@Zeon_99 ...denial of just how big a change this is when he only needed minor help...yikes.
It's not a problem, but that the ideawas, and I am quoting here, a "big buff".
The bottle mixing timer reduction is a bigger buff.

Yes, the power of killers are creeping too high through continuous small updates to maps, killer perks, killer powers. All of the new killers are too overpowered as well as the perks.
A coordinated team should never be required to have a chance to win. It used to not be.
....
-
It's been a long time since we've had a Survivor perk that I thought was worth a spit, so my default answer is that we don't have power creep. As for Killers, I have seen a few rare builds that use Coup De Grace, but otherwise also no. The last power perk Killers got was Undying with the Blight release, and that just got shot out of a cannon with the latest intended PTB notes.

It is not entitlement lol. Some people, like yourself, just take the bare minimum and that's fine. But I can assure you, a game this old with the same playerbase playing.. it's a joke <3
It isn't bare minimum. Bare minimum is zero, which is what we are getting now.

Step 1. Tunnel someone straight off hook, pick them up and find out they don't have Decisive.
It's impossible for the Survivors to come back from that early of a kill. Never lost a game where that happens it's comparable to having a green mori before they nerfed them.
I have absolutely escaped as a Survivor in games where someone got tunneled out early.
