2k 2 escape games are the most fun for both sides, but they happen so rarely.
-
Games probably about as balanced as it ever has been, show him old videos of machine gun huntress and 115% speed pre-nerf nurse.
-
45 hours is nothing my guy, it takes a while to get anywhere near gud.
-
Just fix it asap, saying its a benefit to get 140% is bs.
-
Ì am trying to do 360 seconds of co-op actions and I am averaging 5-10 seconds per game because nobody doubles on gens. I have been on it the entire day about 8 hours. I'm just tired.
-
It's not fair to the team and in an idea world everyone would play each game out till the end, but how many times do you get hooked, take a look around at what your 3 rando survivors are doing (especially if you havn't played in a while and have slipped down the ranks, but red ranks can be just as bad) and think "nah, this isnt going to end well."
-
You could spam Dispair too quickly in the PTB< but where the cooldown is right now is overly punishing, either reduce the cooldown a little, or shorten the amount of time the glow on the ground appears for surviors, as right now it is very easy to dodge.
Cages are fine but you shouldnt be able to facecamp them, that should get fixed.
-
Just to add because I only just found it, the room with the hole you can drop down is actually a ramp you can get back upstairs with. So at least you have 2 routes- but agree that it is not as fun map to play, i'm sure it must be the largest map by far in terms of surface area, trying to properly patrol gens is next to impossible so it's easy to try and just control one area of the map and let other gens go.
The visual design though, as a long time silent hill fan, is outstanding and you can see the respect they had for the franchise, which is why its so disappointing it's not as fun to play. I do think that just removing a few of the breakable walls would improve it a whole lot, so hopefully it can still be tweaked.
-
You look at the electric effects you get from Doctor, clean, doesn't cover the screen, looks good.
This is garbage.
-
I have started only using it when the survivor is locked into an animation, and when they are about to be downed. Hitting a healthy survivor will slow you so much with thier speed boost that you lose the chase immediately anyway. the more I play PH, the less I actually want to use his power.
-
It's an absolute chore to patrol and needs more routes upstairs. I really hate the layout the more I play it on both sides, it's not as bad if you destroy ALL the doors to open the routes up, but there are so many that you have to waste time for a whole gen just to open the map up. (It looks amazing though)

That would be a PRETTY harsh nerf, everytime you miss a survivor could get away
That's what it feels like tbh. Can only really use the ability on a guaranteed hit.
-
The cage saves you 5 seconds of hooking or so, its not an instant kill.
His attack has a giant glowing warning of where it is going to hit, it's comically easy to avoid.
-
I have given up trying to hit his ability and instead just using as an m1 killer with the cage ability and zoning with the rites. It's just laughable easy to dodge unless they are locked into an animation. having a big glowing section on the ground is a bit much.
-
Dwight is gay, probably has "no fats no femmes" on his grindr though.
Ace is pan, he's a hedonist, he dosn't care whats between your legs, only what's in your soul.
David is closeted gay, probably made homophobic jokes up until 2017 or so, is starting to feel more comfortable.
Jokes aside, idk how i feel about this, not because it's not a good idea, and going forward I think its a great thing to give representation, but I know a lot of people that have put a lot of themselves in these characters, in art and everything else, and see them a certain way, thats important to some people, I know at least two people, one who see's Jane as Trans, and one who see's her as a cis lesbian- either way one of them will disappoined. mabye it is better to leave the existing ones to peoples own interpretations.
-
My first few games on the ptb I didn't try and actually win, just getting the hang of his mechanics and how he plays, and spamming Rites to get better at aiming, seeing how easy it is to dodge etc. Only takes a couple games to get the hang of hitting rites at loops.
-
If I could go back in time and show my 10 year old self who used to spend afternoons in blockbusters just looking at the vhs covers of the horror movies, and shown him Dead by daylight as it is now, I would have had my tiny mind blown.
-
I feel that those of us playing games between 1999-2006 have much fonder memories of this franchise
-
Think of the map as tiles, with dead zones inbetween, there is an optimal path through every tile, so as a killer you have 3 options-
-Survivor makes a mistake you can capitalise on
-Using your killer power/perks to bridge the gap
-and the main way you can deal with loops, mindgames and prediction, can you cut across to get to the tile they are running to? Is there a wall high enough where you can double back and catch them off-guard? Some smaller loops you can easily get hits if they are greedy. It's something that really takes a hell of a long time to pick up, but it's worth sticking with to learn.
Ohtofu (a dbd youtuber) has some really great videos on the tiles and how to run them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6QYjInzLeM
Watching what good survivors do is always the best way to get better at killer.
-
4) Anti-aliasing is now forced. The Engine.ini file appears to no longer be editable.
wait so you can't upcap the frame rate anymore?
-
DBD ngl has one of the most inclusive communities out there. Our discord of about 200 players is about 60/40 male and female, and there are lots of queer and trans people too.
-
Some ones we play-
Big dumb david- Everyone is David with no mither, the aim is to be the first one to die. (This one is pretty silly, but results in funny stuff happening.)
Perk roulette- self explanitory
Game with no name- There is a list of various objectives that each player is told, some of these are secret and sandbag the team.
Get down mr president.- 3 players que up as Dwights/aces in suits (Basicly anything business dress) Changes name to "Agent somthing" and the only objective is to ensure the rando (the president) survives)
-
I think the killer should be able top open the gates at any time. That seems fair.
-
I keep seeing something about an ability to break through walls but cannot imagine how that would work on the maps/be useful aside from niche jumpscares.
I mean unless you can demolish entire jungle gyms, but that would be insane.
-
David won't tell his mates at the pub but goes on grindr now and then, but presents as straight.
Dwight is a powerbottom twink.
Ace is pan.
Feng and Kate are at least bi.
Nea is a lesbian.
Meg?
-
Sometimes.
I'm sure everyone has games playing solo when you get on hook, and look around at the auras of your team.
Nobody on gens.
At least 1 self caring in a corner.
Sombody running around looking for totems like a headless chicken.
time is ticking down, nobodys saving, you see someobody go down after a 10 second chase.
yeah, i'm out, good luck with that guys.

Agreed I have not had a single issue with corrupt if anything it’s better because it’s consistent
the only downside is when a whole team just tries to stealth the entire 2 mins. But I don't think that strat has ever worked before I found somebody.
-
I bought some new wireless headphones a few months ago and for the first few days I had them on the wrong way around and couldn't tell why directional sound was messed up.
-
On the PTB with the 3 second cooldown it was an extreme nerf, taking away his ability to counter loops almost completley. Wether this was intentional or a bug isn't clear, but as he was on the PTB he was awful to play as.
On live with the 1.5 cooldown he is very strong, and feels much better than he was.
-
She has a cooldown, if she misses 5 hatchets then she has to go to a locker.
That is a cooldown.
-
Not bad at all considering DS is arguably stronger than it was. Exhaustion nerf was a BIG deal though.
-
Would an actual SBMM/Elo system work? the data from matches is much deeper than emblems, and it would be pretty complicated (given how dbd has varying win conditions) but i feel a back-end system that tracks far more than emblems to match players based on say, length of chases, hooks per game, chases escaped etc could be far better. Other games use a much deeper system, but im not sure how it could apply to dbd.
-
I'd say Wraith for underrated.
Being able to cloak and overtake survivors to block off windows and vaults, and with a surprising amount of mobility to get around maps.

I mean what own medicine? They are not in charge for the Ruin nerf.
But if you enjoy that playstyle, of course that's fine. I am not going to condemn anyone who plays like that, I just do think that if people play like that for the weird reason to just make survivors salty, that's probably a sign of some slight mental issues or just them taking a game a bit too serious. Goes for both sides of course. Survivors going out of their way to try and make the experience for killer unfun are just as damaged.
Though I am surprised that you say that you do much better with face camping now, simply because with the Ruin nerf there's no way for killer to slow down the match while camping anymore, allowing survivors to punish a camping killer with gen rush more.
It's not an effective way to play the game at all.
There are two reasons to facecamp-
1- You are bad at the game and can't win chases.
2- It's funny.
Sometimes a depip is worth the salt.
-
If you can't do chases, wait till someone else is being chased before starting a gen. Killers will know roughly where survivors spawn and thats the first place they head to, just.. don't be there?
-

Without putting an in game memo, no they wont ban anyone. The forums are a small portion of the playerbase and to ban players who are unknowingly breaking a rule due to a blanket protocol, would be unfair and unwise.
They put memos and warnings about infinite mending, clown bottles and the basement bug.
-
The cooldown is right where it needs to be, if good survivors can avoid it, leave it alone. He was absolutley awful on the ptb, denying him his only chase ability is not a great idea.
-
Keys should have a short activation time of a few seconds, and should only let the person who used them escape.
Moris should require you to hook all 4 survivors once before being active.
-
It wasn't that bad right after the patch, today 3/4 survivors with bugged insta flashlights every game.
-
Kind of, I have been conditioned into saying "No ruin" to my friends as soon as I see a white skill check.
-
He has the best tracking in the game, and is decent, but not amazing at loops. His biggest weakness is still not having any way to get around maps quickly, don't bunch up, he's cant use shock effectivley on every loop and you can get the timing right to avoid it.
The width of shock hasnt changed and people could dodge that pretty well.

Not very often, I have been playing the game for about a month(I know, late to the game. haha), mostly as a Killer, and I am being matched up with people that are way better than me. I will say I do feel I have gotten better, getting more games where I will get 1 or 2k, and have had a couple of 3 and 4k but most nights I am playing against rank 9-12's and I am a 17. The other night I had a couple 4's in my game.......that was definitely not even.
Keep at it, killer is hard and I don't think I or many other players "Git gud" till a few hundred hours at least. It rewarding though.
-
Corrupt, does old Ruins job for me just fine, as long as I can get somebody on a hook before gens start popping, i'm good.
-
Only ones im missing are oni, ghostface and plague. I luckily did most of the others before the merciless requirement. At some point ill finish them but kinda hoping they adjust emblems at some point to make it not quite as painful now.
-
Now Ruin is gone, there is no need for great skillchecks on gens at all. Would be a way to nerf gen speed for skilled survivors while keeping times roughly the same for everyone who isnt hitting greats consistently.
-
can confirm it makes you drop the survivor too. Oh well, hopefully it's fixed with the next chapter in 6 weeks. /s
-
Look behind you, hug walls.
Always run with an idea of where you are going, be aware of your noise and scratchmarks and when you have lost los try and double back walking.
If not in a chase, always be doing something gens, totems, going for a save, healing others, you don't want to spend much time doing nothing.
-
Also worth remembering that great skillchecks reduce by 2 seconds per skill check....
-
That's lag, there arnt hacks that do that. Go to hack forums and look if you dont belive me. What are the hacks going to do mod the hitbox? There are only so many hacks that exist for different games, esp, aimbots, etc, hardly any work on Dbd because the mechanics don't fit.

This type of mentality has always puzzled me coming from Killer players. "Survivors are blatantly OP" but I typically wipe the team out "cause they are potatoes." But clearly the game needs balanced for that 1/50 match that is a super sweaty, perfected team that I'll go against. But boy do I curb stomp 49/50 matches. And if I don't 4K, It's not a win to me cause they didn't outplay me. And if I do 4K, it's only cause the Survivors suck.
As Killer, I'm happy if I got many hooks through the match. If I'm snowballing too hard, I'll spare people for 2nd or 3rd chances. It does suck if I get like 1-3 hooks in the entirety of a match, I consider that a depressing defeat. But if I hooked everyone twice and the end result is varied depending on me sparing or not, I typically consider it a win. I do hate sparing say a Jane twice for her to escape in the end and she wants to teabag me. Like come on girl, you would of been dead half way into the match, but I wanted to give you a chance to play more and you do this to me? :<
Survivor. I solo play, so I mostly want to escape. I don't really care about pips. As a solo player, I probably die 9/10 times. It's not very rewarding. Multiple times I make a save near end game or get NOED'd and abandoned cause I'm a solo. (many SWF groups won't risk themselves for you) But if I ended up saving someone with my death, it typically feels good enough. Too bad most games end up going to crap before that.
At least as a Killer, I never spend most of my match on a hook cause I'm going against a hard camper/tunneler where 95% of my game play will be on a hook. Seriously, there is a reason Survivors hate that play style with a passion.
I'm not saying survivors are OP, if im 4king 80% of games, im doing fine tbh even after the Ruin nerf, my point was that it dosnt feel balanced. If anything the skill gap between good and bad survivors needs to be brought closer together somehow. If i 4k a team that play like rank 20's, its not fun. Games that feel genuinely close are too rare.
