  • All Iri needs to be balanced is one change, instead of reducing hatchets by 2, it should always start you with 1 hatchet, regardless of other add ons.

  • No i get called a gay slur enough after the game and on my steam wall. I don't need GGEZ mid game.

  • If both NOED and DS were removed tomorrow, who would be more upset?

  • Because we can do it anyway? Its a convenience at this point, it would be nice to get these options but its hardly game breaking without them.

  • I mean they have kept producing content to keep players in the game. You whine about engine updates when scores of well made games die out every year when player numbers dip or they cant keep a community engaged, DBD is a pretty huge achievement in the success it has had, and if they stopped making content and cosmetics, player numbers would decrease, that's just the business.

(Compared to how some games deliver content and monetization, dbd is one of the fairer systems around imo.)

Dosn't mean that stuff like this isnt important, and I hope we get better graphics options. At least things like vsync as mentions, but even so, the meta and game has changed a lot from alpha, early on stealth was so ingrained into the game that the choices to lock everyone to the sasme settings made sense.

That isnt the case so much anymore, and the lighting in ue4 is good enough now that you should be able to keep stealth effective without locking out settings. (If people really want to see survivors in the dark and be sweaty, they can make the game look awful and use ansel type things now anyway.)

I do hope we get one season as an operation health type deal, take a few weeks to not add as much and revamp the base game a bit. I hope dbd is around for years and years, and there are probably some fundamental things that need to be updated to bring it up to competitors.

  • NOED is used by lesser skilled/less viable killers or at lower ranks, if you are confident that you can stop 5 gens being done, theres no reason to run noed. It's a problem at lower ranks but you see it less the higher you go.

    Also, do bones.

The only counter DS has is "just leave them alone for 60 seconds after every unhook lol"

There is 0 reason not to run DS at any rank, its objectivley one of if not the strongest survivor perk in the game. It's insurance against being tunneled, but if you get a decent killer that avoids tunneling, then even better! you now have a 60 second invincibility twice in the match, and if you get hooked after the gates are open, a free escape.

  • It now does exactly what SB and lithe do. Give you a chase extender at a somewhat triggerable point.

  • New Chapter Checklist-

    1 Mil BPS.

    At least 8k shards.

Bloodwebs for everyone primed. (So one node to start a fresh web.)

Rift left open where I can.

Spent 400k bloodpoints by accident an hour before the chapter releases when you just planned to do one bloodweb before your last game, but instead wipe half it out because you wanted BBQ3 on Ghostface.

  • If DBD is your main game and you play at least a couple of hours a day consistently, then its easy. Im at 44 right now.

If you play more casually, well its not really for you. You get what you put into it. And in terms of hours played/grind its about standard for most battle passes.

  • Yeah. I mained trapper for a long time, and going back for these challenges he needs some love. He can still be effective but relies so much on RNG.

    • Either start with a bag, or start with traps set, or recharge them slowly, something other than having to hike around the map.
    • Traps placed in doors/pallets/corridors, should block that entire path.
    • Cant step in own traps.
    • rework rng of escaping. Set time to escape that can be slower/quicker with add ons rather than pure rng.
    • Smoother placement/setting.
    • Is hurt by a well organised communicating team more than most killers.

I think that or a combination of those is all he needs, hes still one of the more unique killers and playstyles, and I love him for that, When everything works you do feel like you have big-brain outplayed survivors.

  • I get it, because if changing them was going to mess up peoples progress who are mindway through challenges. (Which is what I guess is the issue) then theres not much else you can do.

But now idk what to do. Do I grind out the ones I can do, knowing im "wasting" time as I could be completing them faster next week? Or do I wait and do something else till then, so im being a bit more time efficient,

  • I'd be fine with some of the add ons being looked at, the one that reduces your dash charge time by 50% seems a bit excessive. But base kit should stay the same, at least for a few weeks.

  • For newer players? Sure. Experienced ones will know where they are anyway, if not the exact spawns.

  • Obviously wont know until playing, but a .2 increase during frenzy and some better add ons really isnt going to suddenly make them fun. Its slightly better but addresses none of the core issues.

  • Yes, your mothers love is worthless to anyone but you, its objective.

Only reason to be mad at this if you spent money on them from ebay, and are mad that other people are getting them. Its not like you are losing anything, its just that other people are being given what you have, so you cant feel special anymore.

When you think about, its kind of a microcosm of capitalism and politics.

  • They just reduced the grind by nearly half, its a long grind though, but if it wasnt I would have gotten bored 1000 hours ago.

  • After 2.5k hours mostly at red ranks, the novelty wears off after a while. I like to know im still good enough to get to rank 1 from time to time, but i dont make any effort to get there or stay there anymore. Whats the point?

  • I agree that Spirit needs changes and counterplay, but a target of 2 kills is not a good idea.

2 kills is a depip/saftey, means that all the gens got done, a 2k game feels like a loss.

  • The game has a major issue with onboarding new players, and it can be oppressive. I know from trying to get friends to play, and hell, nobody is that good at this game till they have 500 hours at least, and even then, being good requires a pretty extensive knowledge of map tiles, perks and the synergies, predicting how games are going to go.

Its not a game that has many transferable skills from other games, and the rng in each match can mean that some games, no matter what you cannot win, but for me at least thats the appeal. I wouldnt ever want it to be easier. My advice would be get some friends to swf with, try and carry you at least out of brown/yellow ranks where your solo team-mates wont be complete potatoes, because at rank 17 you are basically playing with bots.

Or stick ouyt the killer ques, even if you don't get any kills, playing killer badly will still get you decent bloodpoints to level your survivors.

  • Yeah, its not exactly efficient, and they won't have an exaustion perk.

Head on is one of those things that if you get hit by it twice in a game its your own fault really, just go wide around lockers or bait it out.

  • utterly depends on the survivors. Are they going to the windows and doubling back, can I get them to drop the pallet.

Really I have found there isnt a right way to run it, other than not mindlessly chasing through it, just hug the walls tight, hide the stain to the side and try and judge what that paticular survivor is doling,

  • Survivor has less mechanical skill, but relies a lot more on awareness/routing and knowing the tiles, its also more punishing.

Killers have mechanical skill (mostly) and still rely on the same game sense you get from thousands of hours, but a new player can play killer and even when losing, still get hits and feel like they are impacting the game, a new survivor dost really get that, they hide doing gens or get killed.

  • It's getting annoying, now if im killer or survivor and see as DC in the first few mins ill just give up. Its not fun playing an imbalanced game. You have always had some babies that DC because they got downed, but it has seemed to increase.

Mabey its because they are tracking it now, so people assume softbans/timeouts are coming so they get the most out of it?

I'm hoping the Archives will try and improve some players enough, its incredibly frustrating to see so many killers and survivors that seem to want to put no effort into getting better.

  • I think a good system is to have 2 rewards for each challenge. If you do it in a single trial you get extra BPs and Rift progress, but if not you can still advance the tome by doing it over a couple of games.

I'm in two minds, I like hard challenges, but my mentality when I was finishing up tome 1 was very much "Just get this finished without caring about the game itself" and thats only going to be worse with the harder challenges. Going to see a lot of thrown games trying to complete them.

  • I think I was the same, I played and saw him a lot first weekend, then after I p3ed him I really didn't go back much, I think its skillset is too spread out, its not good at any one thing. I just find him a less-good freddy. Its not so much its a bad killer, just average.

That and any power that survivors can disable is never fun vs a team that knows what they are doing. Without the portals hes pretty useless, along with the shred being easy to avoid, and if its dodged it often puts you in front of the survivor unable to turn around, which is about the worst place to be, so even when I do play I tend to not use shred much at all.

Edit- Surge is really good tho so its worth it for that perk.

  • It took me 2 games, first one this Claudette was ninjaing chests too, so neither of us got, second game I ended up getting 4 chests anyway. They just might take a few tries.

  • I mean, for example, Im awful at Flashlight saves, I probably have less than 10 in thousands of games. But seeing "Get 2 flashlight saves in a game" I mean, why not? it might take me a few games but its not impossible. In fact, if you just keep playing you will get it eventually, just make a saving/empathy build and play the game.

It might even get you to learn skills you didn't have, thus improving the game! who knew.

  • I hope it's only a week, and i hope the next tome is harder/longer because im not far off being done already.

  • When they say "harder as the rift progresses" I hope that means tomes 2-4 will be progressively harder than this weeks. As im probably going to have this finished by tomorrow night fairly easily.

  • Hate to break it to you, but a console is nothing more than a PC with a proprietary OS that restricts what it can be used for. Its still just a processor, gpu, ram and drive.

  • ######### I forgot they have to get it recertified for consoles. It's not going to be tomorrow then. FFS. Wish they just released stuff when it was ready for pc like they used to.

  • I don't mind giving counterplay, but please remember how awful she was on the PTB, if you are going to take away her stealth. (Because vs good survivors, any indicator of where she is while phasing, will mean that someone paying attention will know where she is at all times, so it reduces her phasing to nothing more than a distance-closer)

But mabey after the map-rework? Or somthing else make other killers more viable, otherwise with Nurse and Spirit nerfed there really wouldn't be any killers viable at Red ranks vs a decent swf.

  • For some reason Dbd has a very large Russian playbase, its fine, I only find it a bit annoying playing in EU because nobody speaks english in postgame, or speaks it poorly, so I use a VPN just to get on the US servers.

  • I just stop playing if its a 3v1, its not fun for anyone and its not really fun just to steamroll 3 survivors who won't be able to do gens.

  • Okay, but if your a rank 8 killer, don't you want to get to red ranks? That should be the goal right?

Really once you get past brown/green ranks everyone there has probably been red ranks before, its not that big of a deal, just learn from it and get better.

  • I like it because its fun, but it is overpowered. The problem is it can't really be nerfed, it either works as it does or its useless. If its changed at all, it would have to be a full rework of whats its designed to do.

My own vote would be just make it an ultra rare. I know that won't change it much, but its not like you see prayer beads spirit in every single game as-is. It's like irri-head huntress or pinky-clown, the ridiculously op add-ons are fun to use now and then, its a bit sweaty to stockpile and rely on them, but the majority of players dont use them each and every game. Unless they are, just very competitive, but thats fine too/

  • I only played a couple of games as Myers on dedicated, but I noticed a distinct delay in stalking too, it made it very difficult to gain stalk during a chase, and stalking just felt incredibly.. off.

  • it isnt OP by any stretch, so I wouldn't want it gone just because of people whining, but it could be reworked to encourage better killer plays.

  • The thing is, I know. and DS rework was absolutely 100% a buff, but its also a very useful perk now, especially for Solo survivors.

Having said that the 20 seconds idea might be good. But not to be slugged, if you get hit in 20 seconds but the timer wont go down on the ground, perhaps even activating on multiple hooks.

  • Healing yourself means its a long time spent not being helpful to your team, its good to get into the habit of healing only when you need to, (Ie to make a save/get into a chase, do a risky gen.) Its useful if you are getting hit constantly, and arnt good enough in chases that being found injured is normally an ez down. But honestly it just promotes bad plays, and going without it will activley make you a better player.

  • The problem is that people speculate when theres a lack of communication, a lot of people didnt even realise what the statement read ,given that it implied that the Archives updates and the chapter were seperate things, and the mid-chapter wasnt due out on the 22nd (Which ofc it was) That and it wasnt clear if it would be out when its fixed,. or pushed back an entire week to keep with the tuesday release schedule, tbh theres not been anything I have seen that would suggest it wont come out as soon as it ready, if thats today, tomorrow, etc. But its still not clear if they are going to release the update asap, or set a date of the 29th say, and thats whats got people confused.

Having said that, if somethinjg needs fixing, it needs fixing, (although given some of the patches we have had, this must have been in some state to delay it, might be the nurse movment bugs we had in ptb, idk)

  • Cool story.

That isn't really punishing.. thats just you escaping.

What you described is letting a facecamper camp out his two kills, he probably felt like he won.

  • In the long run? Absolutley worthwhile.

    Right now.. eh.

  • i think they have acknowledged a few times that the whole rank system needs to be looked at.

I wouldnt be suprised if thats not on the agenda, as to what would be a better system? No idea. Doing away with Emblems and using a numerical MMR like other games would be a start, but the game has so many things that give a picture of a players skill I have no clue.

  • @Widden said:

The thing I am trying to tell is console survivors really doing their best in chases.Imagine this scenario, there is no pallet loop area and survivor doesn't have dead hard.I see pc survivors in this scenario running straight a line but console survivors doing 360 or at least trying to something better even in rank 15.Why pc survivors don't do this or maybe %2  of them trying this.On console %90 of survivors are like this.

Because you will get hit every single time. If im playing killer and see someone try and do a spinaroonie, im still going to hit them but im also going to think they are a bit thick. Its hard to quantify if you havnt played on pc, but if you have a good 60+ frame rate (Or even better 144hz) and decent experience with a mouse, you can hit a survivor doing pretty much anything, you just follow them with the mouse.

  • Not rewards, but its a mark of a bad killer.

When I go into a killer game, I if all 5 gens are done, I consider it a loss, thats a bronze gatekeeper, and i'd need a perfect game in every other area to pip. Anything after that point is just a bonus.

My aim going into every game, is to not get genrushed, and control the game. Now im not amazing or anything, i'll still get bodied some games, but my GOAL is to start snowballing before they get completed. Besides, i'd much rather take somthing like MYC or even Devour for an insta, something I can reliably use during the match when it matters.

So by definition, taking noed is a defeatest way to go into games. Now I used to use it when I wasn't brand new, but still getting good enough to not rely on it, or times when ive succumbed to saltyness. But now i never touch it. Thats not to say its not got its place, it can be fun to pop as a suprise. (But id say dh is a better option for that.) Or on killers that dont have the map pressure to reliably stop gens getting done at all.

That being said, it has plenty of counters, and isnt that bad to go against. Just do bones yo.

  • Sounds like you hide in bushes and don't look behind you.

  • as long as they get them right eventually, itll be worth it. They must be pretty embarassed at the delays to them so far,

1 … 4 5 6 7 8 … 10
