Trapper definitely ought to hold 2 traps by default.
Always dabbled with the idea of him having ALL traps to start with, but once he's placed them all down, he can only hold as many as your add-ons (or lack of) allow you. Really, you only need to be holding one trap during chases, and the only time you need multiple traps is at the start of the trial to set up. Otherwise, I think Trapper's in a good place.
If I could make a change to any other killer, it would be Hag traps and flashlights. Either an add-on to make them resistant to flashlights, or have them be TEMPORARILY burnt away only for them to come back after a set amount of time.
-
Honestly, for the longest time, I wanted them to buff the speed boost to 10% for the 10 seconds, or keep the 5% permanent so long as the totem stayed uncleansed, simply because I THOUGHT the 5% was so minor, it was barely noticeable so reckoned it wouldn't be too tall an ask.
Turns out I didn't notice it because the 5% doesn't even happen! It's completely absent! A 5% speed boost doesn't sound like much but it really does make a difference, something you Play With Your Food players know all too well.
Now rather than buff it, all I want is for them to just fix Devour Hope so it does what it says 😂

That's what I was thinking. But it would make low tr killers less useful and calm distressing doc on the game a nightmare.
It would be amazing with monitor because it would bring 32 to 40. Oni would be insane.
I'm not sure. I'd rather it be stronger on everyone rather than really strong on some
Aye, as cool as it would be tied to TR, you're not wrong. Better to have it viable for all killers rather than a must-use for some.

That's actually a really good idea mate
Hey, thanks man! I've also wondered what it would be like if the affected range of Surge was tied to the terror radius. Obviously that would hinder it on 24m TR killers like Hag, Huntress, Spirit, etc.
But when used with Distressing, Monitor and Abuse, Agitation, Doctor's add-ons, you could have affected ranges of over 40m, maybe even bordering on 50m!
-
@dhealy646 said:
Surge: upon downing a survivor with any attack all gens within 40m will explode and regress 12%. Gens will continue to regress at a 150% rate. No cooldown
I'd like to add to your idea, good person!
"Upon downing a survivor with any attack, all gens within 40m will explode as if a skill check was failed on them (10%), with an additional regression of 5% (tier 1) / 7% (tier 2) / 10% (tier 3).
Any gens affected by Surge will also be affected by 'Surged Skillchecks' (old Ruin skillchecks) for 30 seconds."
Obviously this perk is in dire need of a buff to its range and regression values, and it needs the cooldown drastically reduced, preferably removed entirely.
However, I find a problem with Surge that I haven't seen many people address is how easily it is for an unseen survivor to just hop back on the affected gen while the killer hooks the downed survivor, and reclaim the measly amount of regression back in barely 10 seconds.
That's where the skill checks come in. Not only would it make regaining that lost progression a little bit harder, it makes sense regarding the concept of the perk. The description for it is as follows:
"Your eerie presence changes the air and interferes with technology".
If not old Ruin skillchecks or Entity arms blocking it, maybe let Overcharge work in conjunction with it. I dunno, I just think it needs an additional effect for AFTER the initial Surge. If they boosted the numbers and removed the cooldown, I'd be perfectly happy. But damn it, this perk has SO much potential, and I'd love to see it get a good bit of attention one day.
-
Trapper. Save the Best for Last. Surge. Thrilling Tremors. Corrupt Intervention.
Addicted to that build at the moment.
(For the record, I know gens DON'T regress when blocked by the Entity, but I do like the feeling of getting a cheeky instant regress and having that gen blocked off for a bit. Man, if they just buffed Surge and allowed regression during Entity blockage...OOFT)
-
Damn good question.
This perk could be amazing. It genuinely has so much potential. Remove the cooldown, increased range, increased instant regression, have it activate for ALL downs, have it work with other gen perks (Overcharge, Pop Goes The Weasel, etc.) Implementing just ONE of these suggestions would be an improvement.
Instead, they limit it with a pointless 40 second cooldown, an almost useless Insta-regression rate that survivors can make back in the time it takes for you to hook the downed survivor, and a barely decent affected range, which can all only be activated with a basic attack down. Sure, Thrilling Tremors and Surveillance work well with Surge, but I heard regression perks don't work when Tremors blocks a gen which, if true, SUCKS for not only Surge but Ruin too.
Genuinely love this perk, but it's in dire need of some love from the devs.

@Jacoby2041 I would think if it's only Ash, he'd be released within the next month at most. Doubt they'd wait the standard 2 months only to release just one new survivor.
Got my fingers crossed for April! If not, May for a whole Evil Dead chapter! 😁
-
@ItsYourBoyGuzma Oh, I'd love a chapter dedicated to Evil Dead. But that doesn't rule out the possibility of it being just Ash. They released Bill and Leatherface by themselves before and they're licenced so there is precedent.
But fingers crossed for a full chapter! I feel like the killer would likely be a Deadite, seeing as they've said in the past all killers are (or were) human. A demon like Baal would probably be pushing it, but I do like the idea of the killer possessing survivors and causing problems for them.
Not holding my breath for many Ash cosmetics but I'm still hoping for some!

It is early and long before they will get released but that's the point of us talking about them early. If no one had any issues with them, then they'd probably just be released as is. These posts are good for pointing these things out to the devs.
True that, bud. Just have to hope they actually take it into account and edit accordingly. Time will tell, I guess!
-
@Blueberry In fairness, those are some really good points. I forget how hard it is against survivors who know what they're doing. I'm sure (or at least, I hope) they'll be tweaked before release so they're somewhat more balanced.
-
@Caretaker said:
An OG/OC Deadite, Ruby from the show since the chapter is based on ED2/AVED, or one of the two versions of Evil Ash are my thoughts.
I'd be happy with any of those! But the idea of Eligos possessing survivors somehow and posing as them does actually intrigue me a little.
Chances are it'll just be a standalone Ash. But if it's a whole Ash vs/Evil Dead chapter, I certainly won't complain!
-
@Blueberry said:
I don't believe there will be a killer at all. I feel pretty confident that it's a stand alone survivor similar to Bill.
In terms of his perks, I think MoM and Flip Flop are extremely strong. In my opinion too strong. These are future meta perks and need to be toned down some. MoM shouldn't even exist. I feel like the devs should have learned their lesson about second chance perks by now and we need to lean away from these types of things. They are not healthy for the game.
I actually don't think MoM is THAT bad. True, you're right about second chance perks and it is a pretty damn strong perk despite the caveats. But look at it this way; it takes 3 hits from a basic attack to activate it (which is probably 4 and 5 hits at tiers 1 and 2), so that means hatchets, chainsaws, traps, corrupt purge vomit, none of that will count. Plus the killer gets to see your aura when you heal after the "fake hit" so it's got a lot of downsides to it alongside just the one benefit. Perhaps if they made it so the killer sees your aura regardless of distance, it would be a little more balanced.
The other 2 are just OK. Flip-Flop isn't a terrible perk by any means, but it is entirely dependent on the killer slugging you. If not, it's almost useless.
Buckle Up, I rather like the sound of. But again, it's dependent on how good or bad other survivors are, and whether they're slugged or not. Still, I can see myself using that one a fair bit.
They could be tweaked by the time they're officially out though 👍

Was it actually confirmed that Evil Dead characters will be added to DbD? I missed that announcement. I thought it was speculation.
Not been confirmed by devs but it's almost certainly going to happen. Perks for Ashley J Williams were accidentally leaked in Kill Your Friends on PS4 and (I think) Xbox in the Demise of the Faithful update. The fact they're for an Ashley J Williams, the perk icons, the quotes. All but confirm Ash is coming.
Whether he's part of a chapter or just standalone like Leatherface and Bill remains to be seen, though.
Got some screenshots of the perks from my own PS4 account just to prove it. Don't have to look at them if you don't want to in case you want to go in blind. But I thought I'd attach them just so there's proof :)
-
A sort of Mad Max/Apocalypse Warrior look for Jake. Leather jacket or trench coat, dark jeans, cool boots, bandolier, scruffy hair/beard, maybe some scars or tattoos.
Him being one with the outdoors and a bit of a loner, I've always seen him as someone who'd probably have an outfit for an 'end of the world' event.

Nvm, still the same bullshit 10 seconds.
Mate, I'm just as gutted as you are. I honestly don't see why a permanent 5% speed boost would be that bad, especially considering there's no guarantee it'll stay like that for the whole match because it's a Hex perk AND because the speed boost is now dependent on what tier perk you have for DH.
It would genuinely improve the slower killers like Hag and Spirit, be an added bonus for normal moving killers, you'd feel good about not face camping, plus it would actually make reaching 2 tokens that little bit more rewarding so if it does get destroyed before 3 tokens, it wouldn't have felt like a complete waste of time. Obviously the real tasty parts come with 3 and 5 tokens, but a small constant speed boost would definitely be a satisfying starter before the bloody main course and dessert!
I'll make sure to ask about it in the survey. We get enough people asking for it, the devs have to at least consider trying it out!
-
Don't think they're known by anyone right now, bud. But if we look at previous chapters, we should be able to figure them out.
So they've always had two Adept achievements/trophies (I'm on PS4, sorry!) in previous chapters so killing all 4 survivors with the Plague using her 3 perks (Adept Plague) and escaping with Jane using her 3 perks (Adept Jane) will definitely be there.
Also should be one for the new map in the form of a 'repair the generator in a certain spot (the crypt, I'm guessing) and escape' trophy.
Other 3 tend to be associated with the Killer's power (infect 100 survivors with Putrid Bile?), and interactions involving the new perks or certain actions (locker stun Killers 50 times? Injure a player while another player is downed 30 times?).
I'm sure we'll know them all for certain soon enough :)
-
As survivor, maybe 30 seconds.
As killer, probably 5 seconds. I say if they find the hatch, they deserve it. Truth be told, I don't even hit them. I just back up and nod like a madman 😂
-
Unfortunately, the 10 second rule still applies. Pretty bummed about that, to be honest. Not actually playing the PTB but I know they'll release a survey after so might ask if removing it in the official update is possible. Cheers, guys

Dude, the feeling once you get 3 stacks is heavenly.
Once you get 5 stacks, it's practically god-like.

If they indeed just didn't add the whole 10-second thing to the notes, i'll be disappointed.
If they're afraid Devour Hope'll just have too many big gains by buffing the 2-Token reward, then at least remove the 2-Token reward entirely.
Sorry, but that 10-second movement speed boost is useful once every 10 trillion times, and it's just trollish to keep it at this point.
Remove it so you don't add something useless, or, preferably, buff it.
P.S. If the 10-second movement speed boost is indeed still a thing, it's even more of a laughable reward now.
Yes, you do get 1-hits & kills on all Perk levels now: Cool i guess.
But then the movement speed bonus is made EVEN worse on those levels.
As if it wasn't a bad enough bonus to get...
I find myself not even noticing the speed boost 😂
I'd rather have something that barely helps than not having it at all. Removing the 10 second timer would be the best thing for it, in my opinion.

You know how much 5 % means in a chase. Look at 110 %, you never catch someone and with 115 % you get easy on the Survivor's butt. So a 110 % Killer usually has a better power than a 115 % Killer. Making them to 115 % with Devour Hope on top of the good power will make them very very strong.
Good point. Doesn't sound like much but it is crazy how much of a difference 5% makes
-
@Rex_Huin said:
I use Devour Hope all the time. No limit to the speed increase would be amazing. Cant see it happening...maybe they forgot to add the 10 seconds part?
I don't see why they couldn't remove it! It's not exactly a necessary effect. Surely a passive boost isn't too much to ask for.
And hey! Nice to see another Devour Hope user! One of my favourites when it lasts 😁

I still wonder who the hell made Devour on 2 tokens only 10 second haste effect in the first place. It's dumb, if Ruin got such an awesome buff then I guess this one is not a mistake, it's reality.
Exactly! Just seems a bit odd, considering you're insta-downing at 3 tokens, and moriing at 5!

I think they would've written it in. There is no "to much space" or something. I think it lasts till the totem is destroyed, which is awesome. Literally a buff to all 110 % Killers.
Nah, I meant it more as a space-waster rather than not enough space to include it. But yeah, I do hope it's permanent! The 10 second condition always confused me, and it's not like a 3-5% permanent speed boost is that powerful. I guess we'll see for sure once the PTB goes live!
-
@Master said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/50226/devour-hope-ptb-change
No, they just forgot the 10 seconds.
The only change is that the tiers differ from each other in the increase of movement at the first lvl, not in the additional effects at 3/5 tokens as they used to
At least thats what I guess, knowing BHVR =)
I really hope they've removed the 10 seconds. Just seems like such an unnecessary caveat to include, considering 3 and 5 tokens are super powerful. Not to mention the ever-present danger of having your totem destroyed. Surely a passive speed boost can't be that bad, right? 😂
-
@Delfador said:
Yeah I think that the devs wanted this perk to be on par with NOED since both of them basically do the same thing.
Interesting change but there is still gen rush meta, meaning that hex ruin is pretty much needed and killers usually don't use any other hex totem with the ruin. So I don't see killers using devour hope.
Well, with this new Killer perk coming into the game (Corrupt Intervention), plus Thanatophobia buffs, it could make Devour Hope a much more viable perk to use! Guess we'll see!

Bump!
A bloodpoint bonus would do for now. But I'd like to see an iridescent shard bonus, too. Maybe even special cosmetics?
-
As small a change as it is, it makes me super happy that they removed the chase requirement. It can help get you towards downed/hooked survivors faster, towards exits, just little things like that 👍
-
@Tzeentchling9 said:
It looks to me like the change is that the Exposed at 3 tokens and the Kills at 5 are available at all tiers and the speed boost is the difference between tiers.
So no difference for Tier 3, but Tiers 1 and 2 make full use of the perk now.
Oh, yeah. I got that part which is very cool. But the speed boost you normally get at 2 tokens only lasts for 10 seconds, which only kicks in 10 seconds after hooking a survivor.
Now it just says you get a 3/4/5% speed boost at 2 tokens, with no mention of the 10 seconds.
Maybe they just didn't want to take up space by including the 10 second part, seeing as it was a big list of patchnotes. But I truly hope it's a permanent speed boost🤞

With Up The Ante and Slippery Meat, you have a 64.9% chance to self-unhook. Up The Ante also affects item quality in chests and both affect attempts to escape from traps. Luck probably affects even more things we're not aware of.
Wait, I thought luck didn't affect chests. Didn't Mathieu mention that in a dev stream? I could be wrong, of course. Hell, I kinda hope I am! Might start using Up the Ante more if it affects chests 😁

Well, I guess that makes sense. Bit annoying when it happens, but it's hardly a major issue so I'm not looking for a rally to the devs. "OMG DEVS MAYKE IT SO DUHLIVURRANCE COWNTS 4 DEVOWHER HOHP" 😂Chaotic_Riddle said:I think it’s because they’re not technically losing hope, as they managed to free themselves without the help of other’s, if we had to look at it from a realistic standpoint. Nice Legion pic, by the way! -
You mean like a theatre mode? Not in the game, no.
But you could always save the match on your PC/console hard drive when you're finished? I regularly save fun matches on my PS4 to watch and edit after
-
I don't know, man. You only need 4 stacks to get 100% double BPs at tier 3 and that's not too tricky to get. Plus it's not like it's affecting the killer in a negative manner so I don't think it needs changing drastically.
Picking someone up from dying state, I can sort of get behind. Maybe if you heal them within the terror radius, you get a stack, but lose it if that player is immediately downed again?
Gaining stacks by being chased, though, doesn't really fit the objective of the perk which is to save others personally by either rescuing them or putting yourself in harm's way for them. I do understand the logic mind. By keeping the killer occupied, you're effectively protecting your teammates. -
Personally, I'd love it if the Huntress trophies had their numbers tweaked, the 24ms+ hatchet downs trophy especially.
It's possible in its current state, sure. But 100 downs from 24ms+ takes a fair bit of grinding, accuracy, and luck on console. Even more so if you're as bad with the Huntress as I am 😂
Don't PC players only have to get 20 downs? -
Getting perks quicker would be cool.
But season and devotion rewards should definitely be a thing.
Hell, I'd be happy if we got even half the points and shards in the example picture for finishing at rank 1. Even for devotion levels, a bonus 300 shards on top of the standard 300 and maybe a cool 50k BPs would do nicely! -
I like this idea. Granted, you do get bloodpoints if someone DCs. But I don't see why you shouldn't be able to use any token-based perks effectively, simply because some survivor got salty and rage quit.
BBQ&C should definitely get a token automatically per DCing survivor. No aura reading, though.
Save the Best for Last could maybe gain one if someone DCs unless it's the obsession, in which case it just acts as if they died and stops stacking. I would say two tokens if the obsession DCs before you've hit anyone else, but that could be a tad too much. Maybe if they leave within the first two minutes?
Play With Your Food and (maybe) Remember Me should get their max amount if the obsession DCs.
Devour Hope...I'm not sure. You can still get 5 tokens with three players, although it is admittedly harder. Plus there's a chance it gets destroyed within the first 30 seconds so it's a bit hit or miss. Maybe a temporary speed boost as if you already had 2 tokens and you just hooked someone if there's a DC.
-
Good point. Always found Urban Evasion to be another example of odd tier value differentials. Surely 50%, 75%, and 100% per tier would make more sense?AlwaysInAGoodShape said:I think it's a general perk tier issue overall.
Even when the distribution is equal, as it is in Premonition: 12/24/36, it's still a 100% increase, where as Urban Evasion: 90/95/100 only increases by 11.11%.
If some perks only increase 11% and others increase by a 100% and perks are supposedly balanced, then how can you consider certain lower tier perks to even be considered playable, let alone the distribution between 1-2 and 2-3!
It's confusing for everyone of us. What I wonder more than you just mentioned and what I just mentioned is: Why do we need perk tiers at all? The only thing it does is introduce issues!
Think perk tiers are simply to keep you grinding the bloodweb for the highest tier. Almost like going for semi-perks. They're perks you already have, just better versions. I've got no problem with tiers as such. But I do agree that some can be a tad bit...confusing and troublesome at times. -
