So we just gonna pretend that the last system didn't go off of how well you actually did in a match? It didn't keep track of the stuff you did? Didn't keep track of unhooks, or downs, or heals, or gen progress, or hooks, or nothing?
Am I high? Was that not a thing?
It did, but it was explained to me that what I said is how mmr works now.
-
They listened :)
-
MMR absolutely has its issues.
However, kills and escapes play such a big role in MMR because there is really nothing else to judge it on. You're not playing for a full jury that weighs everything that happened in the match. A computer is what's judging you mmr, and a computer can't watch your match. A computer can't make decisions. All the computer can use to determine your mmr gain/loss is what you see on the endgame scoreboard. Specifically, if you died or not.

i get it, its not for everyone. some people cant live without Ruin or BBQ, i dont blame em
Well, let's say you main Trapper, Hillbilly, Wraith, Micheal, Freddy, Huntress, Pig, Trickster, Spirit, Pyramid Head, Oni, Bubba, Blight or Legion.
Oh, did you say you wanted a slowdown perk?
Well that's too damn bad!

No thank you

my favorite perk in the game

It will be completely open and all of the buildings will be infested with breakable walls.

I too quit Dbd once
Then I played other games, one of them being Apex. I had such a bad time that I came back.
Anyway, I think it's pretty uncool to judge people for discussing a game on a forum designed specifically for doing so
-
Huntress: Dodge and be unpredictable while you do it. Avoid vaulting and dropping pallets if Huntress is holding up a hatchet.
Bubba: Use windows as much as humanly possible.
Wraith: Hold W
Nurse: Break line of sight as much as you can.

Huntress
-When you injure a survivor with a hatchet, that hatchet is refunded.
-
Getting burnt out just one month after my return, so I did some trolling as Bubba (may or may not be related to the basement)
But outside of dbd, I'm super stressed and tired.

Bully? Who is bullying? I’m just merely stating fact.
Well first of all, it's more of a squawk sound, not a caw.
-
Iridescent Party hat: Both sides, Iridescent rarity (obviously)
- -When a survivor is hooked, the hook produces explosions of confetti and the sounds of party kazoos that sure are loud, but not as loud as the fun screams of your victims. (Killers)
- -When a generator is completed, it shoots confetti and the sounds of cheer can be heard in the distance. Unfortunately, this joy can only last so long... (Survivors)
- -Gain more bloodpoints for every hook, survivor downed, and sacrifice. Bloodpoint bonuses are awarded only after the trial is complete. (Killers)
- -Gain more bloodpoints for every generator complete, escaping, and each time you stun or blind the killer. Bloodpoint bonuses are awarded only after the trial is complete. (Survivors)
"This bloody, glass like party hat produced by the fog itself appears to be a cruel jest by the entity, a reminder of the joy that survivors and killers alike have been forced to abandon."

I don't know either. Pinhead has the highest killrate when is Power is really, really bad
it'll settle down soon, he's a new killer so his kill rate will naturally be higher as survivors don't understand as well how to play against him.

Thanks mate, but I am not sure I will be able to help with that.
I played 2 trials as him earlier today...and they were absolutely atrocious.
This power is WAY more boring than I remember.
I understand.
At least I'll never forget the Freddy we once had.
-
How about no
Edit: And here's why.
Many killers rely on their M2 for hits (Huntress, Bubba, Pyramid Head, Oni,
Bird MommyArtist, Blight, Hillbilly) and so STBFL stacks aren't going to be helpful. Many killers only get hits using their M1 attacks (Michael Myers, Ghostface, Trapper, Spirit, Nurse, Ghostface, Pinhead without Engineer's Fang, Freddy) and so while STBFL can have value, it's extremely niche and there are simply better perks to run.
The only killers STBFL is good on are killers where it can be a huge help for using their power quickly (Hag, Clown, Deathslinger) or killers that have M2 abilities that are average enough that you'll usually just get hits from faking it or not using it at all and getting an M1, But strong enough that you can use them on the obsession no problem. The only 2 killers that this applies to are Demo and Nemesis. That is a grand total of 4 killers.

A lucky Huntress hatchet hit a survivor from a large distance away within 10 seconds of the game starting. Courtesy of Lethal Pursuer.
If that doesn't count, I sometimes use my chainsaw right as the match starts as Bubba for a small boost of mobility and to practice my charge timings, and on one such time I ran directly into a baby Meg.

Probably people just trying to profit on how the MMR system works.

For Legion you wanna go with the classic Frank's Mixtape and Stab Wounds study. If you play it correctly you can make the survivor bleed out, just like the

Gens aren't there to be downtime from interacting with the killer. Rather, interacting with the killer is downtime from doing gens.
If this game is all about gens, then what we need is to make gens more interactive. Because gens aren't fun at all, I would rather just run around and die every game than sit on a gen. If doing gens are my entire reason for playing this game as survivor, then I should want to do them.
Yeah, if we make gens more interesting and more interactive then this would be a much more engaging game. I would love it if gens were more fun, because right now it's just holding down a button and then having frames drop and an explosion happen every once in a while.
Sorry, I'm going off an a tangent. I find gens boring. Chase and altruism is fun. Gens are the thing I'm forced to do if I want that 3k for burning an envelope right now. Sitting on a generator isn't a good game mechanic, and at this point it's too late to change it, especially since survivors need to be able to swivel their camera constantly to keep an eye on their surroundings so they don't automatically die to every stealth killer.
Anyway, I didn't only mean gen speeds, I meant gen slowdown in a more general way, like building one or more of the current gen slowdown perks into a specific killer's kit. There are a lot of different ways to do it. The problem with universal perks is that any killer can run them, so perks basically have to be very middling, and even then stack a few on a strong killer and it can become overkill.
Building something like Corrupt into someone like trapper's kit would essentially be giving him a 5th perk slot, which might be bad for balance.

That would mean a bad Blight or Nurse will nearly always lose and a good Michael or Clown would nearly always win.
Shouldn't bad killers lose? Whether or not they win should be dependent on how well they play, not on what perks they bring. Same goes for survivors.
And if adjusting the gen speeds per killer has certain killers always winning or always losing, that means the gen speeds weren't adjusted properly. Gens are there to give survivors something to do when they're not interacting with the killer and they theoretically put a ticking clock on the match. The timer shouldn't be too short or too long. It should be in this nice middle spot for each killer, putting pressure on them to do well and protect gens but not so much pressure that they feel frustrated into quitting. Having certain gen slowdown qualities built into killers rather than available to all killers could lead to a much healthier game.
You don't need to run 4 slowdown perks every game.
I mean, I don't run any gen slowdown perks. If survivors want to rush through gens and leave within a couple minutes, that's fine, they get no BP or pips and I get to move on to my next match while they go back to their queue.
Yes, bad killers should lose. But Blight and Nurse both are hard killers to learn, so those trying to learn them will get stomped and may not see improvement for a while, which can get really discouraging.
Gens aren't there to be downtime from interacting with the killer. Rather, interacting with the killer is downtime from doing gens. This is because doing the generators and escaping is the goal of the survivors, and they cannot really win any other way. The problem with adjusting generator speeds based on the killer that's being played is that you're only accounting for the strength of the killer's power, but the strength of a killer isn't based solely on how well they can delay the game, meaning that stronger killers may not have much game delay (Huntress), or weak killers might have lots of game delay (Pig), that make the match immediately very difficult or very advantageous for them.
Let's take a killer like Huntress. Generally accepted to be A tier, but has poor map pressure. If gen speeds are slightly faster when going against her (or kept as they normally are but with no access to slowdown perks) Huntress suddenly becomes very weak and simply unable to stop the survivors from doing gens. But if you make the gen speeds slower for her, she will dominate because of her strong power and having to worry less about gens. When using slowdown perks, this isn't an issue because they have a smaller effect, like taking lots progress off of ONE gen, or passively damaging gens that are not being worked on but giving survivors the ability to remove this effect. My point is, survivors can win the match despite slowdown perks if they play well (long chases to get gens done and reduce the impact of pop, finding and cleansing Ruin quickly, etc.) while passively slowing down or speeding up progress on gens cannot be played around.
The point I'm trying to make is that it's not possible to effectively balance gens speeds based on the killer, and better to keep gen speeds uniform and allow players the option to use perks as a means of slowdown that can be adapted to their playstyle.
Oh, and survivors could bring toolboxes to nullify the advantage that weaker killers get while making the match that much harder for stronger ones.
-

That perspective has gens being treated the same across all killers. Gen times don't need to be invariable. Blight has map mobility, gen repair could be faster to force him to use his speed to pressure gens. Trapper needs setup time at the beginning of the game, gen speeds could be slower at the start and repair time could speed up a bit as each gen gets done. This would give the devs more leeway with killer designs in the future.
Generator perks are awful. They're necessary for some killers and overkill on others. They hinder players from coming up with fun builds as they instead use perks just so they get a chance to have a game last more than a few minutes.
That would mean a bad Blight or Nurse will nearly always lose and a good Michael or Clown would nearly always win.
It's completely possible to make a fun build while still having slowdown, especially when you take addons into consideration. You don't need to run 4 slowdown perks every game.
-
No, just terrible game design.
Useless in most situations, yet it can be used to completely deny a hook in the right situation, thus forcing the killer to slug, which is extremely boring for the survivor.
-
BBQ and Kindred
-
Alright, sure. Let's say gen speeds are nerfed, and regression perks are removed.
Oh no! Survivors are running big toolboxes and BNPS! Now gen speeds are back to what they were and killers are powerless to stop it!
Looks like we have to remove toolboxes. With those out of the way, this should all be perfect, right?
Oh no! A large map where gens are spread out! Even with gen speeds nerfed, the survivors are pretty much unstoppable since the killer can't be everywhere at once.
Looks like we have to make maps smaller and make gens closer together.
Oh no! 3-genning Trappers, Hags and Doctors become the new meta, making it impossible for survivors to get any gens done!
Looks like we have to turn back that change. I mean, even with the large maps and spread out gens are better than current gen speeds, right?
Oh no! Blights with Tinkerer, Discordance, and Insert info perk here are now dominating the meta! Because of gen speeds being nerfed, it's extremely hard for survivors to keep up! But at the same time, any and all killers that don't have extreme map mobility are powerless in this new state of the game!

How many 4 key boxes are there? Everyone's luck must be garbage if the pig chooses the right box AND that box has 4 keys in it, jeez
That's not how Pig works, unless they reworked her. Every survivor has a different box that their key is in.

No idea. Bubba kind of relies on survivor mistakes to be effective. Even most of those spicy chainsaw plays require the survivor to greed a pallet for you to have any chance of pulling them off.

But isn't it worse trapper because she can only hit survivors herself, and has to hit twice anyway?
Not exactly. You get 10 of those suckers (if I remember correctly) that can't be disarmed by survivors and are extremely quick to set up. Having to hit survivors yourself doesn't matter, really. If you teleport quickly enough and click m1, it's going to be a hit no matter what you do. The survivor's camera also locks onto the phantasm the trap spawns when triggered, which can be used by good hags to great effect.
Sure, having to hit survivors twice is bad, but with perks like Sloppy Butcher and STBFL, you can keep survivors injured and be able to react quickly if a survivor runs into another trap while you're recovering from an attack.
CoH hurts Hag a lot, though.

Make sure to do research before you get a new PC. Consider building one from scratch. If I could do it (and I'm slow) anyone can. Feel free to start up a thread in the Off-Topic section and tag me if you want some advice. Building one is cheaper than buying a pre-built and usually results in better performance.
I'll look into it, thank you!
I am what many would consider "completely broke" right now so I'll need to get some money before I can start building one. I've heard a lot of different things about the price. What's the usual cost to build a decent PC?

This is a game where you are playing against players that have extremely limited tools available and we are saying a killer with the smallest terror radius and a 1-shot is weak? I can only shake my head in disbelief.
If I remember correctly he is in top in kill rates. He needs basekit nerfs if anything.

"Stealth on command" Myers is perma stealth until he hits T3, I'd much rather take that over stealth every 24 seconds that gets broken by someone looking at me. Myers TR means by the time you hear him he's 2-3 steps away, easy free hit/one shot if 99'd. Lets not forget Monitor making it the size of his big toe. Just because its not literally 0 doesn't mean its not stealth and in practice they both get you free hits/one shots so there's no real difference.
"power does not end" By the time Myers runs out of stalk the game should have been over one way or the other, I don't think I'd ever had a game where he's run out of stalk and it mattered. Each survivor has 2 tiers of EW base, that's 8 rank ups per game. What game are we playing where we're EW3 5-6 times and the match isn't over? Its usually over by 3-4. Each EW is 60 seconds base, that's 5-6 minuets in EW3 alone to realistically run it out, not counting the rest of the match, considering you lose 2 by killing people with stalk left. Games don't last long enough for it to run out unless all the survivors are not doing gens, which you win in that case anyway.
Can it be changed? Sure, but its not crippling him like some people like to pretend it does. Realistically both powers don't end. Its like Hillbilly's overheat. Can it end? Sure. Is it going to? Probably not. Doesn't mean it can't/shouldn't be changed just to be clear.
"short" That doesn't stop/help killers like Legion and Pig from being looped by any meaningful degree. Why would it stop GF?
I don't see how GF isn't a downgraded Myers. Long CD, gets punished for hitting partially stalked survivors during that long CD, normal TR during that long CD, no chase buffs, worse add-ons, game announces where he is by looking in his general direction when he's supposed to be stealthy, can't expose everyone to discourage hook saves or body blocks.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2790322#Comment_2790322
Cooldown, no chase power (Myers gets passive buffs at least), countered by looking at him, game announces his position with the high pitch sound for having your camera in his general direction, normal TR during that long CD, not being able to hit a survivor if they have stalk and you don't have your power up with its long CD unless you want to throw away your progress and chase as an M1 killer with no chase power, no mobility, Spine Chills existence.
"only weakness"
-Myer's stealth in Tier 1 is literally a detriment because he barely moves faster than the survivors
-In tier 2, he has "stealth" in the form of a smaller terror radius but literally no power in chase. He can definitely get free hits, but so can Ghostface who can also expose people.
-In tier 3 Myers is indeed very strong but survivors that are spread out aren't going to give you the win when you have it
-Ghostface can 99 stalk people to get free downs on command. Myers can also do this, but the difference is with Ghostface you can down someone, hook them, wait for your ability to recharge, rinse, repeat, so survivors spreading out won't matter all that much with the right info perks. But with Myers you need to wait to have to stalk people. In some cases, that can take a while. I'd prefer a guarantee that I'll actually be able to use the strong part of my killer.
-Spine chill also counters Myers
-Yes, Ghostface has no chase power. But you have the ability to play around that by using stealth and downing 99'd people before they can react. Doing so can give you immense pressure.
-There are ways to counteract being revealed easily by cheesing the reveal mechanic (which I do not condone) or by finding hidden spots to stalk from. There are many of these on every map.
Overall, I do think what I originally said was wrong. Ghostface does have a variety of weaknesses, but I still think that his cooldown is the only one that you can't play around. Also, I'm not saying he's S tier or anything. He's mid C-tier at best imo, and Myers to me is low C tier, so I don't even consider him much weaker.

So let's say you buy Bubba but hate playing him. How much time and money and bloodpoints are you spending just to buy Bubba, level him up to 35 just to unlock BBQ and Chili as a Teachable, and then spend how many more on another killer you like playing just to eventually, maybe, get BBQ and Chili to show up in that blood web? You're looking at spending literally millions of BP over that process, and for what? Bonus BP in your matches? It'll take dozens of matches using BBQ and Chili to make that up.
Or, you could just buy a killer you actually want to play and play them and spend your BP on that killer. You'll have a much better time, have leveled up a killer you enjoy, and in lieu of BBQ and Chili probably have some other perks you like instead.
I get what you mean. That's probably why I may save Hag for last or not buy her at all, and why I might not buy Micheal and Twins.
But for the really good perks, I may still buy.
-
@dugman said:
I always say this when this sort of thing comes up but you're better off spending your shard/cash on killers you actually enjoy playing than worrying about their perks. You'll get way more bang for your buck playing a killer you like than buying a killer you don't like playing but who has a perk that if you spend a ton of time leveling them up you might be able to use on another killer at some point if it shows up in their bloodweb.
the problem with that is that some killers are perk reliant, also BBQ = Bloodpoint = Good
