If you are only getting 1 kill, then your MMR will drop so that you will eventually get matched with survivors more at your skill level. It does take some time however.
I don't think it's an issue with DS personally, since it was changed I've been hit by one DS and that was only because I'd forgotten who I'd hooked as I tend to keep a mental note of this.
Locker into DS - is a way to avoid being slugged so I don't have a problem with it in the slightest.
I'd also add, I don't think it's just at specific MMR levels that DS is used. It's pretty much across the board from mid and up. And as nobody knows what MMR level they are at...I would suggest not focusing on what MMR you think you play at, and just focus on finding your enjoyment in the matches.
"just focus on finding your enjoyment in the matches."
That's hard to do when your mains get undeserved nerfs...
You get validated multiple times in one game with 30 ms ping.
You have to deal with CoH, which is just broken.
Well, I have found enjoyment in different games for now, so my opinion doesn't matter, not that it did before...
-
That would be fun to balance...
I think you have too much trust in BHVR.
-
It's just stressful since SBMM. Boons made it desperate. Validation and killer nerfs made it frustrating.
When you main single killer for some time, you will jsut get into high MMR. It's not that bad for players that play multiple killers, because it takes way longer for them.
-
If you main Ghostface, then I am not sure you need another stalky boy...
Trickster is quite decent after those buffs and also fun to play (for me at least)
Oh right, if you play on controller, then I wouldn't go for Trickster. His recoil is lower, but it is definetly a thing.

The rather hilarious and sad part of this is that they did not address the main complaint Survivors had in most occasions. The major one for Deathslinger was zoning and now they made him entirely dependant on zoning.
Yeah, I think if they just gave him higher penalty for ADS fake, so he is forced to commit on his shots more, I would be fine with that.
But his TR and quickscope were things that made him unique... and that's gone
Just play Huntress or Trickster, both are better and mainly -> more fun to play

@BenihimeWrath said:
Just play deathslinger like huntress where you have to pre-pull, he plays fine.
Unfortunately beyond that, his ADS feels really clunky, if it was even a tiny fraction shorter it would be a lot smoother.
Why not play Huntress then?

Agree. Flashlights are detrimental to Hags main power. At least with wraith you have to have your timing a little on point for a light burn. I’m not familiar with how it affects the artist different from any other killer though.
The buff to Franklins was actually good and I agree with it. As someone who plays both sides. When I’m a survivor with purple medkit and OP addons I get bummed with Franklins but I won’t Boohoo cry about it to the devs.
as Hag I can finally fully deplete their flashy’s instead of having the small possibility of the item “disappearing” in 180 seconds.
Yeah, I think current version works way better for both sides.
It is more reliable counter against items for a killer and survivors can leave with their empty item, if they manage to leave.
I think people kinda forget that it costs 1 perk slot, which is a lot when you have 4 perks total. It is also just useless as soon as survivors don't have items. It's not a perk that gives value whole game and you have to use M1 for it to work.

No, hacking problem is already big enough...

Enjoyable? No

For VHS, sure, but a really strong argument could be made that the reason DBD is the king of the genre is because the Killer can't be killed themselves.
That's certainly why none of its competition ever really appealed to me- getting bullied by good survivors in DBD is already pretty frustrating, adding actual damage and eventual death onto that seems even worse.
I liked Evolve a lot.
Still sad that it failed so much. Well, they were just too greedy.
-

If you nerf it too hard people will just use lightborn.
That doesn't really help Wraith, Hag, or Artist.
and it doesn't fix multiple med-kits..
So no, people will just dodge more lobbies.

One minute cooldown.
Problem is that it doesn't matter if you use 2x CoH. It would be easy to have 1 active anyway, so situation for a killer is still same.
It would nerf other boon totems for sure.
-
Ok, 200s would fix that for sure.
Problem is that power fo Coh compare to others is just nowhere close imo.
So it might be better just nerf CoH instead and see how that works.
-
1) it would be possible to deny boons and killers would do it (I would).
2) Yes
3) Probably
4) No. It also doesn't make sense with your first point.
With 3) is problem that it would be completely fine for CoH, that boon is just OP and you actually don't want to play that many of them.
But it would nerf Shadowstep / Unbreakable boon hard. Those are kinda viable only if multiple of them are active, but yeah it's really painful to play against SWF with that combo and map offering...
I would actually make CoH self-healing part work only for owner. Faster healing would work for everyone.
Other possible nerf would be to make blessing longer for each time survivor blessed totem, something like extra 4s, so snuffing has more value.

Plague did need buffs. She is far more playable now and I actually feel the power role
I think his point wasn't really that she didn't deserve buff, but she was stronger than DS (imo) even before those changes and he got nerfed anyway.
And it's just funny that he got nerfed more than Spirit... (I don't think she should get nerfed more)

Yeah if anything all they should have done was give him a lullaby similar to Trickster instead of just making it bigger, but over all I don't mind it to much the slower ADS is what killed it for me.
If they hated cowboy before agitation and star struck is now a really nasty combo on cowboy now. Didn't like my cheesy shots when I used Monitor and Abuse well you're really gonna hate this new combo now.
Oh right, that would be fun to use.
But yeah nerfed ADS is a thing, so I don't really care.
There are ways to play around TR:
- Starstuck
- Tinkerer
- Plaything
- Hysteria
I believe Huntress type lullaby would be way worse for him.
But his ADS just sucks to play with.

Nerf items? What do you want them to do? Disable them completely? See this is the problem right here. Killer mains recognizing certain items as OP when they aren't. Why don't you compare the power of the killer to literally be able to delete my item if I don't recover it and if I do the chance to render it useless due to charge depletion, to that of the survivor who's item has limited use. Franklins can be used the entire match. I don't think I'm being unreasonable when I suggest that franklins should only disable item use temporarily and not drop items.
If you play Wraith, Hag, or Artist and you see multiple flashlights, there are two options:
- Use Frenklyn's
- Dodge that lobby
If you see 4x medkit you have two options:
- Use Frenklyn's
- Dodge that lobby
So it's just fact that Frenklyn's is needed right now in some situations, if you want to nerf it there is few possible things to do:
- Remove option to do last second changes in lobby, so killer always know what he is playing against
- Make it survivors can't stack same items
- Remove flashlight counter-play to all killers
- Nerf medkits
Not all, but some of them would be needed for that.
Items are kinda extra thing and you are mad that killer is playing without a perk against that?
If it is toolbox -> just use it
If it is med-kit -> just drop it yourself somewhere and run there to heal when needed
If it is flashlight -> yeah, you are #########

She used to be really good killer, but CoH is really bad for her, because it's quite hard for her to commit to most chases...

The TR increase definitvely needs to be reversed.
Seriously, they nerfed him because if, and ONLY IF he had Monitor & Abuse, he could "shoot survivors before they noticed he was there", but he needed line of sight from 16m to do it, which means you could counter it by looking around. Yeah, it was something that was only strong with a specific non-meta perk and still could be countered by using your eyes. How is that OP?
Most of the time you approached a survivor, they would either see you coming before you had range to shoot or they would be behind a wall anyway.
I would still play him with just bigger TR.
Longer ADS was the main issue for me. I want to ######### quick-scope.
Other way to fix it would be making him hit-scan -> no travel time of projectile.
But his whole ADS mechanic feels terrible to use and I think any FPS player can tell you that...

The problem with this suggestion is twofold; one, it's a nuclear option that hard nerfs boon totems in a way that dramatically changes their impact on the game (which is a problem when it's your first impulse), and two, it's a giant change to the base mechanic of boon totems when the only boon perk you've mentioned is Circle of Healing.
CoH is not the only boon perk now, and they're clearly going to keep adding more, so hard nerfing the core mechanic to accommodate for one of the three current perks that associate with it being OP feels a little silly to me. Wouldn't it be a better idea to first nerf CoH, and then see how it bears out?
I mean, it's kinda middle ground between current and destroying...
There is kinda problem that CoH is just OP, so yeah instead of changes to boon mechanic, we can just nerf the ######### out of CoH...
I think it should be personal perk only, at least that self-healing effect.

Do they?
I've seen literally one on the forums thus far. I guess it's...possible, but smurfing would now takes ages, and you essentially have to bot it (which, ideally, will get you banned).
You'd have to AFK/throw dozens upon dozens of games, where under ranks it was so easy to 'depip' that even a Fog Whisperer admitted to doing it 'to get easier games' for her stream.
I'll agree that survivor SBMM needs to be more nuanced. But I'm skeptical of 'elo hell' - this is something that I hear in nearly every MMR based team game and it rarely exists.
I did. Some streamers did too I think, I remember FarmerJohn did it.
I "abused" the fact that killers have different MMR.
So I had Oni and Blight, where I actually tried to win each game, when I was in mood to try.
Then I had Legion and Nemesis, where I always played normally, got everyone on dead hook, then let them leave. It worked great to be honest.
I didn't go really super low, I make it so I get survivors with around 500 hours +/-. I don't really want to have games where I can get 4k on 5 gens, that's just boring imo, but just wanted to have option to try meme builds, or just chill.
Survivors I got with Oni and Blight are around 3-4k, where yeah there is no way I would want to play there with Legion :D

I mean as survivor yes. Before sbmm I faced only pro killers and it wasn't fun dying with 5 or 4 gens left. I'm not a pro survivor. As killer now is either hard and stressful, either very easy.
Yeah, that's how they got 2 kill average. 1 game 0 kills, 1 game 4 kills, balanced...
What survivors you play with? I kinda expected it, that it should be impossible to get from low MMR as soloQ, because you need to escape to gain MMR, but that is kinda hard with bad survivors that just don't do gens...
-
@StarLost said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2658838#Comment_2658838
That's not how it worked for me.
When I started out as a new killer, with maybe 7 hours under my belt I was getting opponents with 1000+ hours in a SWF, who smurfed their ranks down (extremely easy to do) or that just got matched against me regardless (killer matchmaking protections were almost non-existant). You can go back to some of my first posts where I posted screenshots.
This was great for high MMR killers, as most of your opponents would be less skilled than you. It's how a lot of people did those amazing 50-100 wins in a row 'streak' videos.
It was also pretty great for high MMR survivors, for the same reason.
Who it wasn't great for was the lower MMR folks getting stomped.
"who smurfed their ranks down"
Way more killers do it now...
So I am not sure it's really good for new players now, mainly: you gain MMR by escapes, but when your whole team sucks it's kinda hard to escape, so with SBMM I would guess it's really hard to get from elo hell as soloQ...
Record for escape streak is something over 500 (Wima TV) and they didn't really lost it, they just got bored...
-
Sure, nerf med-kits to the ground first, then we can talk about it.
Also remove effect of flashlights for Hag, Wraith and Artist.

And two of those top three are much much harder to master on console, or to play to anything like their full potential. So what is a console killer to chose?
Skilled killers are getting fewer and fewer by the day, hence creaping surv queue times, especially around too play. Most of those killers are or were PC, and that ratio of killer to surv has worsened with every killer out since Blight being ranged.
Console killers are screwed... I don't remember last time I played against good console killer, I have seen quite a lot of good console survivors tho.
Maybe Spirit? but you need good headset for her, so probably that's a no too...

Before the Undying nerf. I assume. I don't know. A very long time ago.
I didn't really have an issue with old Undying to be honest.
I liked Detective's hunch and it's possible to finish all gens even with ruin active against most killers, but there are exceptions.
Only aura part was broken, I don't get why they nerfed both effects.
It's super rare to see it for me, it's usually used only in full hex builds, which are not that good imo.

Well, you don't really want more than 2.
From our testing we had best results with 2 -> effect is always active and other survivors still get perks for free.
I think it's broken. It makes hit&run not viable and then they are surprised there is more tunneling, like what else to do.

Hehe i have the same rule. If survivor can make me laugh during the game i'll spare her or him, if the game gets to that point of course.
If you are toxic and an ass ill tunnel you down. No regrets. You don't deserve to live.
I played my ghostyboy yesterday...3 games i mustered the strenght in me to do. In these 3 games 2/3 i got 1 kill in both... 1!! both times i got red forest...horrible map for ghosty for 1 reason only . Its too big. I got people who had prove thyselfs and toolboxes so gens flew while i was in chase. It's fine ok i get it. But the goddamn flashlight clicking and tea bagging on the side...ok i started getting frustrated. I typed gg in the end game left ...went for the third game. I first saw kate on a gen and i figured ok she's oblivious to me i'll YOINK her off the gen and i did..insta rage quit..she dced on my arms. I was like oh greaat...im starting out great and i get these kind of survivors. Second i see Mikaela on a gen..i stalk her to 99 go next to her finish and down her...guess what she dced..
At this point i was like ok...2 matches ive gotten nothing but bad luck and fast gens, now when my luck finally turns i get survivors that have never heard the word NO in their lives i think. I'm done. I killed the remaining 2 people and closed the game. I had 0 fun.
I know 3 games isnt much i usually play more and usually its 15 games i win 2..
Theres 4 survivors thats 16 perks for them to abuse right. Given mostly they use the same 4 perks but thats on them they could use more as a team even on SoloQ you can still think oh which perks would benefict my team better.
Killer works alone we have 4 perks..and we have to use gen slowdown skills at least 2 of them to have any chance..how about killers get 2 perks slots more at least?
16 perks, unless you count CoH, then it is something like 23...

That's a nice, dry, mathematical way of looking at it, but that leaves out some context.
One game (or series of) where I just walk all over some poor noobs (to the point where I let off the gas just so they're not too demoralized and still 4K) and then the next (or series of) where I get totally eviscerated by a team with 4x my hours is not what I would call a fun and balanced experience. And those extremes are where I have been living lately. Actual 2K matches have been pretty rare.
The manner in which people get their kills/escapes can vary greatly, and many don't involve much skill at all.
Clearly we're not going back to the old system, but these things are evolutionary, and this cannot be the best way. We just need to move on to the next. Hopefully something a little more nuanced.
Yeah, maybe in a year or two...

I don't care if I die, I sacrifice quite often because of that so others can. I just want to have decent chase and I am happy.

Oh right.
Most killers can get "S" tier when you use lot of resources.
Best build, best addons, best map offering
But that doesn't really make them S tier, because how do you want to compare it with killers that are already S tier and use best things...
Also even with that I don't think pinhead is nowhere near S tier. He is most random killer we have atm, more than Trapper imo. That's why I really don't like to play like him.
-
decrease the speed of gens in general is not good way. It's just boring and lazy approach
Spawns need to be fix first imo.
I would buff base regression speed 150% maybe and nerf ruin to same value, so there are other viable perks.
-
My issue is that they are saying it's to fix lagging killers etc.
For ######### sake I have under 30 ms, so I really don't think it is deserved to get validated multiple times per game, because survivors have high ping. It's not my fault we see different things...
I could accept pallets, but why the ######### they would make it more often with DH.
They are not able to fix incorrect feedback, which is super frustrating every time you lose game for validation and make it more often... ######### that
Validation made Wrath way less fun, because he probably gets it most -> pure M1 killer
Then they nerf Wraith and create CoH... RIP

My advice to you would be find the killer who you can have the most fun with.
For me, it's nurse, deathslinger and huntress.
Nurse because I always stand a chance of winning, and can hold my own Vs good players.
Deathslinger because I go for wild trickshots, even if I miss, because it's fun.
Huntress for the same reason as deathslinger.
But thats just me
For me it was Wraith and Deathslinger.
Deathslinger is just not fun at all for me. Those nerfs killed him for me.
Wraith got worse too, that basekit nerf was super undeserved imo and it just feels bad when you whiff around loops because of that shorter lunge...
Deathslinger was main reason to keep playing, but he is just not fun anymore. They screwed him a lot imo
I always liked hit & run, but then they created CoH...

Those moments keep us in the game
Yeah, I used to have lot of games where survivors do fun things.
I always had rule: if you make me laugh = you escape
but that was just super rare for me lately.

I am gonna play some games with new killer and see how it goes...

Its not bad at face value, but when you compare it to the power level of survivors, it's pretty bad.
They do need to put some changes out there, and there's plenty to do, but tbh it could be worse.
But to act as if killer isn't a chore quite a bit of the time, when the only thing keeping you going is the hilarious moments that you sometimes have, is quite wrong.
Im on a break again, from this Game but I do enjoy killer, even though it gets frustrating at times, because overall it can be fun, and we all are just waiting for those moments.
I am on break too for multiple reasons, not just SBMM.
Before it used to be:
it gets frustrating at times
now it is:
it gets fun at times

Solo Q isn't actually that bad, depending on what your win cons are.
For me it's either :
Pipping,
Or,
3 of us escape (either with or without me).
If I can somehow cause 3 of us to escape, or at least buy enough time (even if camped) then I will be happy with the 2nd win con.
for me it's have some good chases... which is based on me and killer so soloQ / SWF doesn't change it that much.
SWF makes it just easier to escape in the end.

It depends why you play survivor.
If you want to escape each game, then SWF is the way.
If you are like me and just wanna have some fun chasing with a killer, it doesn't really matter if you play SWF, or soloQ imo.
