You might want to carefully re-read what you've just written.

STBFL is a perk that forces a bad play-style (deliberately ignoring a survivor is almost never a good idea) in exchange for a mediocre bonus that builds up very slowly and you're never guaranteed to have when you need it.

One Survivor in favour of gaining stacks to end chase faster with the other 3 Survivors.

You know you can just injure the Obsession and go for the other Survivors right? That's still 10-20ish Seconds of them not doing anything in favour of just 2 stacks. Stacks, btw, which can be earned back by just doing your objective as the Killer.

Not to mention it synergizes well with Killers who can injure/down without losing stacks like Demogorgon, Pig, Billy, Plague, etc etc.

If STBFL is a perk that forces a "bad playstyle", then I'm guess I must be a terrible Killer :)

    Oh wait a sec..

I think you misspelled "situational at best".

What's situational about a free cooldown reduction if you ignore your Obsession?

Another perk for reducing cooldown would be cool 😂 m1chine gun build.

It used to be like that with Unrelenting, if I recall correctly.

But it was nerfed because yeah, the machine gun build was rather ridiculous 😂

  • I always love it when Survivors try to avoid a hook trade with my 8 Stacks of STBFL ;)

Gotta love the confusion on their face as I mercilessly machine gun them down.

Have u tried a side by side comparison?

    It is really noticeable

It is noticable, but I would rather not be limited to 3 perk slots the whole game.

It helps you find those sneaky sods that tries to tech you, but other than that, it doesn't help much in terms of gameplay advantages.

I think the only Killer who realistically gets a lot more mileage from Shadowborn is Nurse because her blinks can be rather limiting with the FOV.

Honestly, BBQ is in a balanced state and Knockout isn't great. Especially when you consider that most killers get 0-1 personal perks that are considered strong AND useful for that particular killer. Plus, most of the "best" personal perk options come on killers that are notoriously underwhelming or difficult to play (Nurse's Calling on Nurse, Ruin/Devour Hope on Hag, BBQ on Leatherface, Pop Goes the Weasel on Clown, etc).

But the real problem I see here is that the survivor's adept requirement becomes WAY too harsh.

Being hooked is a natural part of most matches. Even good survivors will put themselves in situations that will likely end with them getting hooked so that they can keep another teammate (who could have been sacrificed) in the match longer or utilize some of their perks. By forcing this "no-hook" constraint, survivors can now fail the challenge extremely early into the match. Survivors actively hunting these achievements could have their run 'voided' at the start through some bad luck and possibly just DC or sacrifice themselves on their first hook to try again ASAP, screwing their team. This also makes far too many perks unusable for the challenge, whereas previously only David was truly rough to adept because of the negative effects of No Mither and the post-match-only-effect of We're Gonna Live Forever (but he DID still get Dead Hard).

Good loopers do usually get caught at least once unless the killer is a complete potato. That's why survivors get up to three hook states each. With no hooks allowed, the survivor experience would basically become the same as the killer's is currently (and definitely much harder at higher ranks where killers aren't so mindless). Or worse, it could over-incentivize hyper-stealth gameplay and create irritating experiences for everyone.

Even if the fourth perk remains a no-go for adept challenges, the survivors' requirement really doesn't need to change from "Escape". That is their ultimate objective after all, much like sacrificing survivors is the killer's.

Fair Enough. Though I still think they need some sort of restriction when it comes to being hooked. How about instead of being hooked once, they can't get hooked twice? Not entering second stage, but getting hooked twice in a row. That way the Survivor can sacrifice one hook state for the team, while also still being pressed with the extra challenge to go for Adepts.

  • I have it on most of my Killers. It's such a good perk when you can get 8 stacks with your Obsession dead. You've basically guaranteed a win if you can pull that off. And being able to hit recently unhooked survivors and the unhooker in succession is even better.

  • @APoipleTurtle said:

Ah, I understand. A self-adjustment that still plays in the normal player queue would probably be fine then.

However, if you want to change the Adept Achievements themselves (and preferably revert killer's back to the old requirement), why not just tweak the ruling to only need the three personal perks WITHIN the build (not as the entire thing)? Having a free fourth perk option to play with in tandem to the personal perks would likely help create a similar result of making the achievements feel more attainable, but still a challenge. It would also encourage more variety, as you try to find that one perk which really complements the trio you're stuck with and your playstyle using them.

...Or just being able to have one useful perk when your character didn't come with any (*cough cough, Ace and Huntress*).

I am not particularly a fan of that, mainly because I want Adept Achievements to be challenging, not easy. Plus, it could make certain games a slugfest because all a Killer would need is to bring Knock Out and they can try to guarantee a 4k that way. Or bring BBQ to basically know where survivors who are far away are and get into another chase easily. Same with Survivors who would bring exhaustion perks like Dead Hard or stealth perks like Iron Will to essentially secure their survival or hide away from the Killer even when they are supposedly in "danger" while being injured.

I do agree that it would create more variety if we open up the 4th perk slot, but I'm seeing this more of as a Challenge Mode with an achievement at the end as the prize if you succeed it. So I'd rather keep it consistent with the challenge and the rating each character has on their profiles. Getting adept with Freddy, for example, woulld be difficult as his perks revolve around the Endgame. And with the ruleset I proposed, you don't want the Survivors to be completing Generators. Same with Laurie. While Decisive Strike is powerful, you need to be hooked once to be able to use it, and the ruleset I proposed prevents you from being able to get hooked at all in order to achieve the achievement.

  • @APoipleTurtle said:

Is it really still much of an achievement if you make it easier?

I do agree that the changing of the killer's requirements made earning these significantly more annoying, but I assume it was almost entirely unintentional due to their wording. The problem is that what the killer has to do for a "Merciless Victory" has changed to orient around pips instead of sacrifices. Had this just specified "Sacrifice four survivors in one match" from the get-go, I doubt many of us would be as frustrated with them now.

Quite frankly, they may not even be able to change how these achievements are unlocked (not sure if Steam, Microsoft, or Sony allow these to be adjusted after-the-fact).

The effort you put into brainstorming this idea is pretty neat, but I don't think splitting up the community with an additional (but similar) mode like this is a good idea. This runs the risk of causing more problems with matchmaking queue times, and would likely become dead quickly once players got the achievements and saw no further need to play this mode.

I mean Adept Modes aren't meant to really split up the community, sorry if I didn't make that clear. Basically just a toggle for the Killer/Survivor to turn on to lock them to their 3 perks. They can still enter regular matchmaking, just with their 3 perks and an added extra rule for their adept achievements.

And this is basically as a means to replace the requirements. Steam would allow them to change the requirements without much hassle, but Microsoft & Sony especially will be more difficult to budge, so having an entirely new way to get the achievements would allow them to change how Adept Achievements work.

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

I have mixed feelings on this. Yes it’s an unfair play 💯 but is it really a win for the survivors? They lose far more bloodpoints than the killer (an entire games worth vs an actions worth) and are penalized for a progressively larger period of time.

    Is that not enough?

I think it's more the feeling of unfairness that your win is sullied and robbed by someone literally flipping the table out of rage.

  • "gg piece of sh*t."

    I've still yet to get the same 'compliment' Otz got ;-;

  • Tombstone requires a massive amount of stalk. It forces the Myers to basically give up his early game for a strong endgame.

Not to mention if Survivors don't feed him, he won't have enough to get the chance to use Tombstone. Whcih is really easy to do because Tombstone makes him slower.

yes but not quite OP for an ultra rare, too indirect... and since Deasy is one of the weakest, needs something more OP straightforward

Not every add-on needs to be as powerful as Iridescent Head (Imo no add-on should be as powerful as Iri Head with no restrictions). To me a good Ultra Rare Add-on is the one that changes how the Killer plays, rather than just be a huge increased buff to their power for no reason.

  • Edit: Okay I don't know why but the post I made got garbled into a mess, let me retype that.

    1. They have addressed Generator Times in the previous update, but I don't think they will be making anymore changes to it in the near future. As for Matchmaking, they're making a new MMR-based matchmaking system which will hopefully replace the current ranking system.
    2. I feel like the Ranking System itself will still stay, as there are achievements tied to it. But I don't think they will be relevant when the new matchmaking system is out and live. So I think it will stay just as a personal gauge of how much you've played that season.
    3. I think it is growing actually, just checked Steam DB and it has a slow uptick in playercount during certain hours. Though it isn't growing a whole lot.
    4. Right now we're just waiting for the next Chapter to be released, but we've received confirmations that Clown will be getting a buff soon.
    5. I don't think they need to remove the endgame chat, mainly because you can just close it by clicking the arrow right next to it.

alright then forget about death upon headshot and just dying status... is that ok?

There's already an add-on to inflict Exposed on Survivors with his power:

2020-05-25 13_33_30-Template_Add-ons_ The Redeemer (Deathslinger) - Official Dead by Daylight Wiki.png

  • GOD NO!

Add-ons should not inflict death upon the Survivor just like that. A Headshot is not hard to get especially if you just get up close and personal with the Survivor. Even with Exit Gates open, they can just use Bloodwarden to essentially guarantee a 4k for the Killer.

I would rather he get an Ultra Rare that gives him more bullets per reload. It's powerful, but not broken.

  • Personally, I wouldn't want this mainly because I think this will be much more abusable than useful for Solo Survivors.

I at least know of one person who hate being unhooked without BT as a Survivor, but he would rather be unhooked unsafely rather than be suddenly kicked off when going for a save.

Solo Survivors don't know if you have BT or not, so they won't risk it if the Killer ischasing the unhooker as they are going to unhook you.

Am I the only one who doesn't find Siren Head even remotely scary? The concept is interesting but at the end of the day it's a giant stick figure with a warning siren taped to it's face.

To be honest I think the possible lore behind him (The one the SCP Community made up for him) is more disturbing than the design itself.

  • What the heck is that screen filter-

  • It wasn't bad, perse. Most of the games back then were rather fair. But it also tends to take ages before you get into a game. I know back then, White Ranks used to wait up to an HOUR before they can get a game.

I mean you can't really mention freddy because he didn't provide any secondary objectives that were directly tied to your survival.

If the devs would ever implement a secondary objective, then it has to be something fun and interactive that would also require a bit more skill than just sitting on a gen.

I mean, the amount of people that complains about snares would have you believe that maybe staying asleep would be more dangerous for you. Just saying.

But yeah I agree, maybe something more than just doing skillchecks. But I don't see something like doing puzzles to solve stuff to be engaging for this game in particular.

  • Again, I'm just a forum user. I play this game just like you, if you're asking for my real name, I would never share that especially on a public forum like this.

  • Just a forum user, if you're asking if I am a mod or a dev, I'm not.

But I'm willing to help out.

  • I don't think you can refund in-game purchases, I know Steam wouldn't so I doubt BHVR would.

You can try to open a Support Ticket if you'd like:

The problem with that is a lot of Deathslingers dont bother shooting, they faking it by aiming and unaiming until he get you with normal M1.

Okay but if you know that is how he is playing, then you can just sprint forward knowing he is slowing himself down while you're gaining distance.

  • @Dead_by_Gadfly said:

I think the game just needs secondary objectives personally.

That didn't go so well with Freddy.

Though, I think a Second Objective that is like the Pig's RBTs could be good. You can ignore it, but if you ignore it for too long you might find yourself in danger.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

Literally never seen anyone claim he has no counterplay.

I've seen some folks say that as long as the player playing him is good enough, they are turned into "Glorified NPCs"

Of course, I think that's just them saying that he is "overpowered" without saying the word.

As basekit? Would be too powerful.

What insane pink add-ons are effected by this change though? BNPS and Instaheals are both less than insane (IMO) and are deleted on use anyway.

Are there any other Ultra-Rare Survivor add-ons? I mostly play Killer, but I'm pretty sure those two are the only ones.

    Odd Bulbs.

  • Actually that is within the 8 ranks range.

So, as much as Matchmaking is borked right now, that is kinda MM working as intended.

  • Okay so I am not crazy, Coldwind, MacMillan and Autohaven are definitely more common than before

An extra perk will mean NOTHING. Any combination of 5 perks will be balanced since both killers and survs will have 5 perks as well

I dont care any combination of perks you have. About the totems, nothing that devs cannot fix or rework like changing a bit the numbers

If you want to add some nerf to a 5th perk, then ok, make mandatory to use the 5th as a base perk of the char

Mandy herself have said there's no reason to add a 5th Perk slot, not to mention the amount of balancing that would take to make sure no perks are broken. Granted she is a mod and not a dev but I am sure she knows more about the balance of the game than either of us if she works as a moderator for the forum we are talking about the game in.

Look at pretty much everyone who replied to this thread, no one wants this.

An extra 5th perk wont have impact to be broken at all. Build are incomplete and our fun not enhanced, creating frustration

Consider we have 74 (yes, seventyfour) surv and 69 (yes, sixtynine) killer perks, to choose just 4 like when DBD was born

95% of surv perks are unused, Gosh... why am I the only who see a 5th perk (or more) would be great and not broken for DBD...

I am not gonna spend my time listing the most obvious and broken combinations you can have with 5 perk slots. You're the only one who sees it's not broken because you yourself don't understand why people don't want a 5th perk slot, not to mention giving it to someone with plenty of hours in the game (effectively giving them a huge unfair advantage)

It would also break other game mechanics like totems, say you brought Haunted Grounds and 4 other Hex Totems. Or how about combinations that can be abused by certain killers due to how powerful their synergy is with those perks.

Do you really want to go against a Doc with Distressing, Monitor & Abuse, Huntress Lullaby, Ruin and Thrill of the Hunt?

Or a Freddy with Pop, Ruin, BBQ, Brutal Strength and Dying Light?

Or an Oni with Distressing, Monitor & Abuse, Infectious Fright, Sloppy and Nurse's Calling?

Please, if you want to create actual suggestions for the game, think things through. Being stubborn about it and claiming that we don't "get it" won't change anything.

  • BHVR isn't forcing Killers to play those three killers specifically.

I for one have been having loads of fun playing as Pig and Clown, and I still find a way to enjoy myself while getting 4ks every game.

Every killer has a chance against any group of Survivors, it's just a matter of player skill vs player skill. Which is something that the devs have been trying to address with their new MMR Matchmaking system.

I don't think you can crossplay with Xbox players if you purchased the game from the Microsoft Store. You can only Crossplay with other PC Players.

Ok, so how many hours left to me think that the game is balanced?

Because, the guy said that i was lvl15 with 30 hours gameplay.

Now, the rank isn´t accurate and my 323 hours is bullshit to argue.

I know that you guys use authority falacy a lot, but... new players need to spend 2000 hours to start to think that the game is balanced? How it works? kkkkkkkkkkkk

Actually, yes. I would trust someone with over 1k hours in the game, playing both sides more than someone with 323 hours in the game.

Not to mention, you can gain hours just idling and being AFK ingame. You cannot gain Player Levels the same way.

  • That Player Level definitely tells me that you haven't been playing this game for long.

You arent punished for T-Bagging, the only thing you could be punished for is if you are being toxic and harass your opponent in endgame chat ("Talking Smack"), doesn't even have to be vulgar.

Also, funny you call people here snowflake yet you (and one other person) are the only person who I have seen get this mad over a videogame in this forum.

PvP doesn't always mean competitive, friend. Otherwise Casual Play in TF2 or Overwatch wouldn't exist. DBD is just about as casual as any of them, it's just the players that makes it competitive.

  • It's possible that it's just bad Map RNG that was the cause, however if you do find this again I suggest you record or at least take snapshots of it to report because I think the devs are trying to eliminate as much ACTUAL infinites as they can.

I would honestly put that up to Plague more because with little fountains to work with, it can take survivors ages before they can cleanse again.

  • No, I don't expect you to. Seeing as you're defending someone who accuses the Killer of Slugging and Tunneling when they didn't do that in the first place. I would show you the VOD the streamer put up but that would go against the forum rules.

But I assure you, the reason this happened was because the streamer themselves unhooked without Borrowed Time thinking he is safe when he isn't. He only had himself to blame.
