BHVR has done it. They provoked the wrath of myers himself.
I am pretty sure that none of the mods, devs and managers want to close the forums. I think its a decision made by some higher-up, who is so focused on the "success of the business" and "the biggest margin possible", that it barely holds onto their humanity.
We all see it daily. Forests burn, our oceans get polluted and heated up beyond measure and strong natural disasters occur exponentially more often.
The reason is the same. Human greed.
Yeah unfortunately money always decide.

Long time no see considering I stopped playing the game...jeez, almost two years ago now. But saw a tweet randomly that said this place was closing down, which is a real bummer (even though I became more or less inactive here a few months after I stopped playing since I couldn't really keep up with changes anymore).
One more Holly and Olive for the road for those of you who remember me. They're both doing very well.

https://stats.deadbydaylight.com/
Official stat tracker, recent match history shows your last 30 matches, overall stats updated daily. Survivor matches where you abandon are ignored as if you DC'd and if you abandon a match as killer it will treat the survivors as escaping even if they were all slugged so take those with a grain of salt depending on how much you used those. No idea what the coming abondon changes will mean for the site.
Thank's yeah my survivor stats would be screwed as I abandon a lot before I die when not bothering to watch killer mori me or waiting to die while slugged. They should really fix that as you could easily manipulate your stats...
-
Now most well I remember my post years ago about huntress camping hatch for 30 minutes when I had a key. I though then so toxic. But many defended her doing the right thing. Now myself I would never waste that much time for one kill.
-
I think most memorable thing simply is becaming more familiar with the community members. On reddit or other places everyone is just random people.
Over the years there have been many constructive discussions about the game and balance. Which would never happen in other platforms.
-
Dark lord would be easier one for sure. You can use him very close to pc player level. But likely need more practise and aiming is always little harder. But what I've seen you can do really well with him if you put the hours.
Oni has his limit on console. You can't still do as precise turns and flicks as pc. Good survivors won't let you have power and they can make matches really unpleasant. 2vs8 with teammate, the extra speed and longer demon dash removes most of his issues. But 1vs4 he feels significantly weaker.
Most my Oni experience in that mode is before the rework of his flicks and turning so my knowledge might not be up to date in 1vs4. Appearently you can do 180s now on console. The rework was done to close the gap between console and pc somewhat.
I would say base on your decision which killer you like to play more. Both are good with different strenght. Dark lord for consistency. Oni for higher peaks but more inconsistency naturally.

These are the survivor matches still in my match history, only 18 but gates got opened in at least 14 of them and survivor wins in 9 with 3 ties (I am assuming the DCs died). Everyone else I have talked to has mentioned survivor being a bigger struggle and I've seen some low escape rate stats so my experience seems to be an outlier.

Stats page is missing Oni in the individual character for some reason but they are being included in the totals, second most played.
I honestly don't know what's going on. All my killer matches have been with the same duo this time around but we played together in past 2v8s and didn't have near the success we are having in this one. Our worst match outcome is a single 4k and it was our very first match this run. If you count a 5k as a win we are on a 63 game winstreak (we played three more today), which is ridiculous since neither of us are amazing killers in any way.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/K7OB3I8FO48W/image.png
But its not like I am doing poorly on survivor either and most of these escapes are not hatch escapes. They are primarily matches where the survivors finish the gens and open the gates. So I have no idea what to think and no idea what the hell is going on.
My experience has been same on killer I don't remember losing with my regular duo. We aren't amazing either both playing on xbox. I would guess my killrate is above 80%.
But survivor has been more struggle this time. Most games we don't get to finish gens. So your experience is particularly intetesting. I have there and here few good runs. I think I try to now track my survivor games a bit to get better picture.

But yeah killer has been a vibe this time around. I'd probably only play killer if the queues weren't what they were. The hatches cause most of my escapes. Once they appear I get a little lazy. On survivor, I often get said hatches myself. But that's because it's not uncommon for me to be the best player in the match. That's not meant to be a boast. I'm not very good. These other people are just horrible, killers and survivors alike.
Who are the 2v8 people? Where do they come from? Why are they so bad?
That's still really good escape rate on survivor. Im probably well below 50% this time I don't often bother to go for hatch. Granted more than before as most matches the killers just stomp our team. While previous iterations my escape rate was probably 60-70%.
I do have that same question now. Before at least the survivors were more decent and did gens. But even this time when they do gens well killers still often win.

The problem for me is what feels like infinite aura reading access.

Bit sad to see. But wondering why the forums were less active after the Pulsar incident where people concluded a small infraction could get you banned is definitely a choice to behold. I wonder how I managed to stay this long considering I don't filter myself outside of straight verbal abuse at least from my memory especially compared to Pulsar which was WAY more respectful compared to me.
Yeah I also have said things pretty straight here got once warning. Over the years just been surpriced to see regular forum users get banned from here. I kinda missed Pulsar ban I though they were quitting.
-
Adding these forums are very much alive and very actively used so basing on that sound excuse use "decline of forums". These forums were also place that made dbd more special than other games place where you could talk with community.
-
Honestly this is the worst decision ever. I thought things could not get worse but as finnish saying goes, from the ditch into the puddle.
-
Just now hearing this honestly shocked. These forums used to always been place to talk about dead by daylight more reasonably with players who care about the game. There are many veterans here who really put though what they write and who devs should listen. People overall are more neutral here than reddit which isn't just good place to really talk about balance.

1000 times this. The killer perks are good news for killers, the survivor perks are good news for killers. There's nothing much interesting or exciting on the survivor side, nothing at all addressing survivor pain points, but there are a bunch of nerfs.
But killers face comp swf teams so they need these buffs to balance around beating them. Even if those teams are 1% of the playerbase and it screw over casual survivor players.
-
Windows was made pretty much useless just kinda worse finesse now. I think it's really neccessary perk to close the gap between soloQ and swf which this nerf will now increase. It gives important information where someone is chased and where pallets are used. Which swf can communicate.
-
For me gaining experience helped. I have so many hours now that I can just accept bad matches happening the way I couldn't before. Still at times I take the game very seriously. Im just more numb to it and the toxicity. Ofcourse if someone is toxic I do usually respond but as I go next match I already have forgotten them.
-
Window nerf yeah ends playing soloQ for me. The information that you get from it is just neccessary to make matches somewhat bearable for me. Swf I can just communicate which pallets are used and where teammates are getting chased. Now I would need to put on bunch of other info perks and can't run build I want.
-
After 2vs8 leaves I will play less. My friends also like the game so I continue to play with them. But soloQ survivor I will try to avoid as much as possible. That wasn't case before but killers are just so strong now.
Dead by daylight is just still the best asymetrical game in horror genre. It's like fortnite so it won't die in long time and will keep having players and new content. So even it has gotten worse over the years there isn't another better alternative.
TCM was pretty decent but it died quickly and still it just had one licence. Friday 13th was peak but unfortunately gun stopped developing it and the servers were shutdown. New halloween game doesn't seem that interesting either. So Dbd just don't have any real challengers I could switch to.
-
Perk that would give 2-4% haste for 20-30s without heavy restrictions could be interesting. Obviously it should cause exhaustion.
-
Hope should be put back to 7% just add cap for stacking haste perks. I think stacking was the original reason for the nerf. It only work's in endgame so it should be decent and 5% doesn't feel much.

You can't trust the time remaining either, it's very unhelpful. I play survivor while I wait and get back in to a 30+ min queue time, but then match into a game immediately when I get up to use the bathroom or something. At this stage the time remaining isn't even an estimate, it's just vibes.
Yeah the estimates are often wrong if you play one survivor game it throws the estimate usually way off. Even sometimes just staying in que you find the match lot faster and sometimes even slower. It's kinda 50/50 if it's anywhere correct.
-
Seems during days you can reliably play 1 survivor match then wait couple minutes to get killer match. But during night the queues grow longer and longer. You have to play 2 to 3 survivor matches. At weekends the ques are even longer I have currently been waiting an hour...
-
Tough to say there are quite many I don't like facing. Let's say pinhead both killers could just target easily the survivor with the box.

I got kicked out of a circle by aura read killers and when it was completed without me I recall not getting anything. I had another match where four invocations got done (that I wasn't part of) and I don't recall getting the haste on any of them either.

I was running towards a couple in a circle and it finished before I reached them, didn't get the haste buff.
You are right after playing more didn't get the haste anymore. That one game I just ramdomly got it even I wasn't in the circle.

Which makes it pretty lacking in value. It should have global effects (which could randomly shuffle amongst a few different things) and should maybe give Elusive while doing it. With all the free aura read it's just getting ignorant, unaware players killed.
I got the haste in one game even I didn't sit in the circle maybe a bug? I though everyone would get it globally even if just one player sit and completes the ritual.

I mean I am absolute one of those survivors unfortunately because like many, I am willing to throw games to get limited time challenges done. But yh finding 10 is ridiculous. And I'm pretty sure it's bugged because i know for a fact I've placed more than my challenge progress shows
I used to be like that for every challenge too I did all the past rifts with old tomes but now only if I actually get some cosmetics I throw game for challenge. Most anyway I get done automatically playing normally. Looking current 2vs8 the rewards it does not look neccessary you to have to do every challenge to get them. But the current requirements to find 10 salts definetely is big ask... Not worth to do.
-
Buddy every multiplayer game that has ever existed use comms one way or another.
-
Yeah I don't know how it's survivor sided when only survivors get nerfed. Basekit BT apparently was too long before so killers could not tunnel easily off the hook. But Im actually surpriced how popular the game stays as soloQ is almost unplayable. They need to stop balancing the game around killer main players who need to win every game.

pretty much what I was saying
If reasonable accessibility options can let more players enjoy a Killer without giving them an unfair gameplay advantage, then those options should be considered.
The problem is that there will somehow always be people against it that will claim anything would be Not reasonable. There is still people claiming that the visual terror radius is a direct buff for survivors after all…
But I don’t think that means Killer-specific accessibility needs should automatically be considered less important
ideally we wouldnt have to consider these features more or less important but those do need resources to be planned/designed/implemented and prioritation is needed.
also imo Spirit wouldnt need specific adjustments when we would get general visual cues for sounds in similar way to mobile, so probably just a not so well selected example.
killer specific sensitivity like Judgement got should definitley be rolled out for every Killer with aiming though, also survs with flashlight and exile thingies. The code is pretty much already here. But the devs did say thats the plan i think and Judgement is just the first test for this
Here is a stronger version that responds directly while keeping the discussion focused on accessibility and balance.Say Hi to chatGPT from me. You can just use your own words though.
@GentlemanFridge said:
While I get your point, how do you make sure killers aren’t straight-up told where survivors are, regardless of them being hard of hearing?
Will the game suddenly display a subtitle “Meg breathing” when she’s right next to you, even though you didn’t actually see her?
If spirit gets the subtibles "meg is walking this location" I might be able to play her. Im bad listening somehow going in complete wrong place even I hear someone moaning next to me. Though I played her once every blue moon and never used headphones or wanted to learn her.
Accesibility options are always going to be advantage. Even small visual cues for footsteps would be buff for killer. For survivors the current visual terror radius advantage is pretty minimal. Could argue it sometimes distract you. Just how the game is designed killer job is to find survivors so naturally anything that helps with that is bigger buff.

Honestly surprised about that. The reason I asked is because of Exile, you never get any points for struggling while being carried or on hook. The only other things that give survival I think are recovering on the ground, self healing, and totems (which used to be boldness). If you got a score this low it's probably because you did no totems, you never self healed, and you never went down until right at the end, where you probably got those 61 points recovering on the ground before the killer either mori'd you or put you on a hook you were right under (and you wouldn't get any struggle since all your teammates left so you would instantly die).
A lot of people have complained about the 10k bp cap per category, so many people have suggested that it become a 40k overall cap and I think that just makes sense.
That would make sense to just overall be able to earn 40K but Im not keeping my hopes up with the whopping "25% bloodpoint bonus" we get playing survivor as incentive. So I don't think we are getting free bp unfortunately.
-
Midwich is especially good map for her and rpd there is not much room to dodge her beam. With aura buold she sees almost everywhere. She can hunt you while also guarding the gens. This is my experience so far. On normal outside maps she much easier to play agains't.
-
Should not balance the game around streamers who want to read chat. But skills check could be easier the one that comes instantly is easy to miss if you lose focus at least on console.

making killer powers purely client sided would open up even more ways to exploit the game.
what they truly need to do is handle everything server sided while at the same time introducing a proper client prediction. as the name suggests it predicts the behavior of e.g. killer powers on the client which will offer the smoothness you talked about as well as keeping the game safe(ish) from bad actors, since the server could correct an illegal action / move.
Would it make killers who use mcdonald's wifi even bigger problem. Like even now killer with very high ping gets favoured and hits you from miles away.

It might be the difference the lower hour players make in your matchmaking? The regular players in our group have 2k-8k hours. Killers we play against are consistently sweaty and the cheese is nonstop. When they aren't like that they're just skilled. It used to be more chill. We were able to go in and meme and charm killers or just goof off and do okay but that's been in the past for awhile now. Oh top of that, they're hella BMy. All this talk about survivor toxicity is lost on me when I'm getting humped and hit on hook for no reason every time I play.
Same thing for me on killer. The survivors I get generally run meta and are way better at the role than I am, and I have to sweat every win that isn't from someone throwing. But both my KR and ER are always 10%+ over goal for my 30-day, so the hole I'm in is probably the one I'll be staying in. Which sucks, because the whole game has become pretty awful. Survivor has just been worse. I've already cut my survivor time down so much, and these upcoming changes definitely make killer look more appealing. 5s off BT, my most hated perks, SB and Vigil getting nerfed, and my favorite killer perk, Nurse's, getting buffed for absolutely no reason. I don't know what could excite me to play surv after all that.
I still play 3-man as well, with 3-6K hours, and even with that much experience we don't get sweaty killers every match. Our results are actually better than our 4-man with the rookies.
Could be something with what time of day you play? Yesterday we had 4× P100 killers a row that was rough. They win a lot because survivors just don't have tools we used to have more pallets, bigger maps and better perks. Lot of killers powers now so strong that just not much you can do. But then today we had sweats only half of time and then killers who were completely new players. Not much in between.
I play only rarely killer anymore just not enjoying it alone no matter how powerful it is. Because my survivor experience is still more positive I stick to that. New perks nerfs sucks too like do they want killers to tunnel or what with 5s BT? Judgement with her build in tunnel power.

Both, because most of my matches are SWF and most of my matches are killers with four slowdowns.
Would still expect your SWF to do better with those hours. SWF I usually play with we have maybe 55% escape rate. We have 2 players with thousands of hours and then 2 with clearlt less hours. Other maybe around 500-700 hours and the least experienced has couple hundred of hours at best. We teach them to just slam gens as fast as possible and bring BNP:s when possible.
We do have bit more variety with the killers and their build but most has couple slow downs at least. Some hex build here and there. We do win a lot because killers play "fairly" instead employing tactics like tunneling and camping. Survivor experience overall seems to get worse each year with all the changes happening.
Couple years ago I had experienced swf sometimes and we won most games pretty easily even without comms. Last time I played with them it was more 50/50 still winning most games but clearly it was much more difficult. They are good players even able to beat streamer like lilith omen back in the day.

@cogsturning said:

I play with competent, high-hour players in SWF. We go against similar killers with 4 slowddowns almost every match and lose more than we win. And I wouldn't really call it the bare minimum. Survivor is much harder to learn. The bare minimum in this game is at least 1k hours of experience and that's a lot to ask of many people.
I already know when I'm against people I shouldn't have been with. I have dozens of screenshots of 4ks at 5 gens to remind me. I don't need to throw to find out. I'm not sure what that proves though. Play a killer I don't like or know well with no perks against the efficient meta players I often get? Of course that'll go badly. I'd have similar results if I went perkless as surv against those 4 showdown meta p100 killers with 5k+ hours.
To clarifie do you mean losing most matches with swf overall or just when facing killer with 4 slow down perks?
-
Well most play 2vs8 to play killer with friend that's the main appeal so naturally queques are longer. Play while you wait also encourages to go play killer and meanwhile play some survivor games as you wait but as you need 8 survivors this makes queques even longer. Still it's really good option though.
-
It's not much different from main game expect you have to play with perks you probably don't want to. Last time I played most killers just tunneled first survivor knowing there is not ds.
-
Yeah wraith, trapper even hillbilly moris are boring. Trapper has good mori with the teddy bear skin only. In mobile game he has really cool one. Should give many of the older ones new and maybe every killer should have more than one?
-
Sprint burst nerf is unneccesary. It has felt always balanced perk for me.
Ghoul however for me is not that hard to loop. But I quess this is subjective opinion.
-
It didn't need nerf
