hes been out for a week and your saying hes so ######### bad. you sound like the people that thought blight was dogshit on release. we haven't had but a week to try out play styles and perks. it's just not true.
granted he isnt amazing, but I really dont believe hes terrible.
It's truly not hard to realize what Is good and what Is bad. There Is only so much you can figure out In this game In these ways. This Is not a true "competitive" game. Blight had hitbox issues that did make him weak"er". The majority that were complaining about the hitbox issues with hitting things he shouldn't have, also were saying he had a lot of potential. He turned out to be what I thought he would be after the fix. He's a solid killer. Not the strongest but very strong.
Perks don't make killers good. You always judge a killer off of their base kit when you look at their strength and weakness. Perks might help a bit, same goes for addons, but, those things will NEVER elevate a killer from weak to strong.
The ONLY thing that gives the illusion that Pin Head might be credible, IS when going against survivors that literally don't understand how to make Pin Head obsolete. It's very easy to do. I know this for a fact from a survivor and killer perspective.
It's been out long enough to know this for sure. You have your opinion. I have mine. I don't think I'm wrong at all and I have more people on my side of the fence than yours, claiming the same things I am.
To each their own though.

you dont deny a pallet as doctor, you play the downed pallet, weird yourself. you really just dont get it.
You literally can do both. Literally.
If you shock then right before they get to a pallet or window, you do what?
Deny them. Is the answer.
Way to try an deflect from the original point though.
Pinhead Isn't good right now. He just isn't.
It's ironic that you truly think "I" don't get It.

Scott I remember quite distinctly saying, to PTB Blight (before the devs came out and said they uploaded an earlier version to the PTB), that Blight had the potential to be good however the bump hitbox held him back too much.
Furthermore the usual forum members who overdramatise everything said he'd be trash too but I can't remember the exact usernames of them since it's been a while.
Which was true, they fixed this issue, which allowed for that potential to be what It Is now. He was held back because of the hitbox issues. I don't think people were claiming he was "bad" though, It was a quality of life thing. Not a, "BUFF HIM, HE SUCKS", kind of thing.
-
Bravo.. It should be given the option to have It on or off at the very least. I applaud the efforts to try to appease those that don't want to see the cursing, but, some of us would rather It be there. It's part of my make-up, I don't like the censorship, I don't like that It Is so sensitive as well.
Give us the option to turn on or off, please.
-
Too much control over games because of Survivors. I truly wish they would STOP giving survivors control over the killers powers, It always makes for a bad experience. You would THINK they would LEARN that lesson by now. Weird.
-
I had a much better time playing the game when Saloon was disabled. So, I'll just contribute with that.

I guess doctor is a ######### killer too. essentially at most loops he has the same power, bruh. not everyone has to be nurse or blight.
No. Doctor actually has the ability to completely negate you from dropping a pallet, with a skilled shot that doesn't take nearly as much skill to use on top of that.
You as the player have ZERO control over chain hunt. Zero. It's RNG, It's a passive, It's also controlled by survivor play.
Horrible example.
Also. Doctor Isn't that good either. You think Doctor Is good? Weird that this Is your example?
-
@Psycho_ said:
hes not that bad, chain hunts are his real strength, good luck doing bones etc when thats active.
Chain hunt Is easily countered. Easily. He's a ######### killer. Hands down.
-
Easily the worst killer In the game.
-
It's really not that good. I'm so sick of these YT guys making videos, acting like something Is so good, through video. One game.
I've tried the build, It's still just mediocre when you play against good people. A lot of things have to go right for this build to be oppressive In any sense. You have to be In the right area. You have to actually locate the box carrier. You have to hit your shot. Then you have to down the survivor with the box.
A lot HAS to happen for this build to be effective. Any smart survivor Isn't going to pick the box up and Instantly start solving the box right where they stand. They will go to a strong tile. A lot of times they will wait until PH downs and picks up, then start solving the box.
This has counter play. It's not a good perk at all any way.
Learn how to pay against It before assuming It's this OP perk on ONE killer.

Every single time a killer comes out, people get mad after a few hours of play time because they didn't auto-win every trial. Anyone with common sense can tell you to wait and practice, because you don't have anything close to a full picture. The killer might be weak, it might be strong, either way you simply cannot tell without any real practice.
The killer Is weak. This Isn't a game where you need months to figure out things. This Is not a competitive game. The skill gap can only go so far. You can tell when something Isn't good. You can tell when something Is good. Many have already pin-pointed several aspects of this killer that are obviously not good with him. With detailed reasoning.
I don't know how long you've played this game or how good you are at this game.
I promise you though. You are not right with your opinion.

They've fixed the issues with his chains and I like his innate slow-down with the box so he isn't quite bad. Just fine for the most part really. The only complaint I have about him is how much a pain in the ass it is to land chains but that comes down to more practice than anything else I guess. All of his perks are surprisingly decent and I can't wait to unlock them on other killers.
They absolutely did not fix any issues with his initial power. They didn't even touch it from what I can tell.
The chain event feels a bit better but you don't even get to the chain event most of the time because it's so easy for survivors to control that aspect of the passive event.
It becomes even more frustrating when one survivor can pick up the box, Is the only one that remains affected by the box, and can run to a strong loop tile before summoning the teleport, which then leaves the killer at another disadvantage.
It's just bad all the way around.
-
@MadLordJack said:
It's funny how many people go into new chapters expecting a killer as easy as Bubba and as strong as Nurse.
Nobody with common sense would conclude what you just did based on all the feedback given so far.
I expect a killer that works properly. First and foremost.
Beyond that. I expect If the skill gap of the killer Is probably even higher than nurse, the reward should be at least as good as Bubba. It's not. Not even close.
The skill gap Isn't the problem. The killer Is just weak and survivor's have far too much control over the box.

@Rescultir said:
He's ok, I have been using his power at close range and it seems to work better than activating it at long ranges because they break too fast and they can be broken which is dumb but it's whatever. I still don't think they should be able to put pallets down when they are chained. I just want to know why they took the voice line out, I liked it and it was perfectly fine.
If you are close range, then M1 them. Why even bother at that point? It's still useless if you have to be close to use It. Even then, for me, it's not always beneficial to use, even close range. It's just a trash power right now.
-
@TWiXT said:
The range increase add-ons are useless to me honestly, I mean, Why would I want to add range to how far away from me I can summon the chain portal, or give the chains further reach if I can't catch up to the survivors to get a strike in, unless I nail them with the chains within 12 meters of me of me in the first place?
It would be different if you were rewarded with chains that take double the amount of time to break on the condition that you hit survivors with them from much further away, but as it stands, his power and the range add-ons are practically useless. Unless you get them with the chains in close range, It barely even slows them down enough to catch up much less land a strike, but even then, there's no guarantee you'll get a strike in before the survivor breaks free using the environment.
Chains and Stupid range add-ons aside, My biggest gripe is the Lament Configuration box's mechanic itself. The chain hunt is the only thing that turns Pinhead into a 1v4 focused killer instead of a 1v1, as it has the potential to distract the entire survivor team. The big Issue I have is that:
- Survivors always see the box's aura as soon as it spawns.
- If a survivor simply picks up the box, that ends the chain hunt for everyone but them, and all they have to do is solve it to get rid of that.
- it take 45 seconds for the box to respawn after being solved by a survivor, and 90 seconds after that for a chain hunt to initiate, IF no one bothers to pick it up.
- Whenever a Chain hunt actually does initiate, if ever, it only lasts for like 10 seconds at most before someone picks up the box and ends it.
I've gone many rounds today without a chain hunt initiating, because the devs haven't learned their lesson with Plague, Trapper, the Twins, and have once again given survivors complete control over an aspect of a killers power... hell they even highlighted and gift wrapped it for them!
If I were a dev for this game I'd simply change it so that survivors don't see the box's aura at all until after a chain hunt begins, Picking up the box doesn't stop a chain hunt, pause it, or prevent its progress for anyone until after it has been solved, and change the iridescent add-on that reduces the boxes aura range to 16 meter to apply only after a chain hunt initiates. With 4 survivors constantly running around, and the box spawning in wide open places while emitting a very noticeable sound, it's not like it's so difficult to find that they need game long aura reading on it in the first place. That, and Solving the box to prevent or stop a chain hunt for your team while risking Pinhead teleporting to you himself, seems like a much more worthwhile and rewarding trade off. While this change won't help with how weak the chains are, it will at least allow pinheads 1v4 mechanic more of a chance to activate instead of being denied from ever happening.
This is a fantastic idea. It also highlights another huge downfall to this killer for sure. So many games are being sabotaged by survivor control over one the the biggest aspects to this killer. That Is absurd.
The chain Is extremely hard to hit as well, with very little reward. I find that hitting the chain at times Is actually worse for me than If I didn't try to hit them at all. When should that ever be okay? Especially when this is one of the hardest powers to land, If not thee hardest.
Also. I didn't realize this at the time of posting this thread.
What did you guys do to the lunge of this killer? I can not express how many times I missed a hit that absolutely would've been a hit with any other killer. Seriously. I thought I was just delusional at first but there Is no way. Literally no way, something Is extremely wrong with this killers lunge.
Them, of course, the obvious bugs and crashes.
Absolutely unacceptable.

I disagree. His chains are made more consistent now, which is something people asked for. And holding on to the box also has much more of a downside now, which again is something people asked for during the ptb.
He seems solid to me. Not op but strong enough. It‘s still too early to tell for sure but those are my first impressions.
How are they more consistent now? They literally feel the same, Ineffective, hard to hit, little reward for actually hitting It. It's not worth It 90% of the time to even go for chains. He's essentially a really cool looking killer, with no voice line now, a ######### power, who Is trash-tier M1 class. It's not worth the money spent, It's even more unbelievable that these are the changes the decided on AFTER the PTB.
Now games are constantly crashing too.
It really Is unacceptable.

This Is trash. Stop the non-sense. Nobody Is fooled. It has literally made the game experience far worse. It's just not fun.

If you are playing against face camping bubba's, you're likely in lower rankings. I've yet to play against a Bubba at higher ranks that face camped.
He's in a good place despite bad killers that will throw a game just to face camp one person.
If you're unaware, the best way to counter this, is to just do gens and absolutely don't be over altruistic.
This face camping "issue" hasn't been an issue at all from my experience against Bubba since his change.

I know how to recognize a swf when there is one, my main console is on switch, and yes, I do believe having a rank 20 in your team as swf is boosting
You're wrong with your assessment. I can tell you as a strictly solo player (Killer/Survivor), the MMR system is just messed up right now. I have had numerous games with brown rank killers as a rank 1 survivor, playing solo. You have the wrong idea, you don't know a SWF when you see one because there is literally ZERO indicators towards that as of now. This is not to say you haven't had a game or two like this, but, It's not like every game you have red rank players "boosting" (It's not boosting) down ranks to play baby killers.
Again.
MMR system Is not good right now.
-
This was an abomination of a change. Horrible. Revert or fix please. Not playable right now.

Killer is too stressful to play now. It's still do-able, but, ######### all the work needed to actually feel like you are winning. It's just not worth it.
Playing survivor is just brain dead now. As If It wasn't before.... Now, It's just unplayable.

Face it.
The game is dying. They really messed up with these last few patches.
Killers don't want to invest time into a game that continues to put you at a disadvantage before you even start the game. It's not fun.
I've played the game once since the patch. It's just absolutely ridiculous to be that out of touch with your own game.
It's a shame. Hate to see it.
-
Poor Timing.
Poor Execution.
Poor Communication.
Poor Consideration.
Poor Priority.
It's just poor....
I hated old ruin but changing It before you fix the reason why It was used as much as It was, Is just dumb. These are the type of changes that WILL kill this game.
I literally have no desire to play either side now, It's a shame, It's been my favorite game for a long time now.
That has changed. So If I feel this way, I can only imagine the way others feel that don't even like this game nearly as much as I do.
Poor Choices.
-
It's obvious. The decline and death of this game is right around the corner, they still have a window to change it, but I'm not hopeful they will actually put their ego aside to save It at this point.
I used to play both sides. I don't care to play either side currently. RIP.
Be Better BHVR. Be better.

The ruin change, as many other changes will not drive the playerbase away. Some people might take a break, others may leave for good and many new players will keep coming.
If you disagree, think about the selfcare nerf a while back - it was arguably even more popular than ruin is now. Did the game die?
Self Care wasn't completely changed though. It's the same perk, the time to self-care just takes longer. For new players, that doesn't matter, they don't/won't know any better. Experienced players never really cared about self-care anyway.
This is not the same at all.
This nerf is going to have more of an impact than most people think. IMO
We, shall, see.....
-
Why was the decision to nerf ruin now? I'm curious on the timing of things and was hoping that you guys could let the community in a little on how you guys prioritize some of these decisions?
I believe that game health and player experience dictates this but I'm curious In terms of short term and long term visions.
Can you guys give a brief explanation on how you guys try to put this puzzle together?
Thanks.

@TragicSolitude said:
Not when nothing's been done to address the core issue.
Here's the problem: One of the reasons given for changing Ruin is that inexperienced survivors feel frustrated playing against it.
What about killers? Are killers not frustrated by having three gens pop before they've made hardly any progress in the match? Seeing 2/5 or 3/5 of the survivors' objective completed when you've only gotten one hook and no kills is demoralizing. Inexperienced killers especially will feel like they've already lost at that point.
According to devs, gens are supposed to pop quickly at the beginning, and then the killer gains more power because there are fewer gens to patrol...
Okay, do new killers know this? Or do they just see gens pop, think they suck at killer, and quit (either the match or playing killer entirely)? New killers are playing alone, against four survivors, and all they see are the survivors quickly getting their objective done while the killer struggles to even get a single hook. Nothing in the game tells them that survivors' objectives go fast in the beginning and then slow down. (Not that that's necessarily true, either; not unless you get three or four gens near each other. If the gens are on opposite sides of the map, the killer's basically screwed.)
The devs eased survivors' frustrations, but not killers'.
I was going to say, don't fall into that non-sense. Just because they are selling It, doesn't mean It's true.
Gens SHOULD NOT pop fast at the start of games, that is absolutely absurd and shows that the people working on this game, truly don't understand their game.
This is what they call a STACKED-DECK. It's bogus and shouldn't be the EXPECTATION for a trial, that is biased and literally one-sided.
The expectation should be that EITHER outcome should be expected, with equal chance of said outcome happening.
The two outcomes...
One side has an equal chance of popping gens fast at the start of a trial, while, the other side has an equal chance of maintaining and keeping gens at the start of a trial.
Yet.. Here we are.
-
@Boosted_Dwight said:
Probably because they don't really have the info to talk about the base gen speeds since everyone was using Ruin to slow them down. Now that Ruin is gone they will be able to get the right info to know what to do next.

Or, maybe not though. We shall see.

@Leachy_Jr said:

I'm going to try to say this as peacefully as possible. When you say the first gens go fast, you are referring to the first 3 gens, which is 60% of a survivors objective. In this time the killer can get 1 or 2 hooks. In comparison that is 2 gens left and either 1 survivor on death hook or 2 survivors on second hook.
It is borderline impossible to recover from that, even if all your chases are like 20 - 30 seconds long, survivors can just power through the last 2 gens. To put it simple we cannot kill the survivors at all in just 2 gens. Its just too easy for them to get them done. This is due to so many things getting in the way, mainly map sizes and god buildings/loops. However even if these weren't a problem gens would fly by anyway.
Us killers didn't care that it was passive, what we cared about is that it had pressure at the start of the game. I bet you if it had killer input it would still be used 80% of the time.
This i don't think you are understanding: Old ruin applied pressure EARLY game, when 60% of the survivors objective is being done. We do NOT want a perk (specifically a hex perk) that applies pressure LATE game. That is not what we used ruin for. We needed something to battle the early game and ruin was the only thing we had.
And... please, we honestly don't care about our gatekeeper, that's not why we used it. We used it to prevent 60% of the survivors objective being done in under 90 seconds.
Finally, the fact that you can stand strong against so many complaints doesn't show your confidence, it shows a sign of a massive disconnect between the community and the dev team. And if you think this change will be "good in the long run", then you have HEAVILY misunderstood the core mechanics of dead by daylight and what the community wants.
Damn.. This was a really good read. Hell yeah. Nailed it.

You went into a game at Red ranks with a Perkless trapper and you were walking around setting traps instead of putting any pressure, yet you are surprised they can do generators?
Yeah, what was he thinking using the killers ability that was given to him by the DEVS from day one. Crazy. It's almost like his ability requires you to take a lot of time to set up and stuff, I'm sure they allotted trapper man enough time with the gen speeds and map design to actually do that.
Ya know? Surely.

Yeah I play mostly survivor. The entitled part I don't understand, cause I don't feel entitled to win. I play for fun... Goof around... I'm a pretty easy kill most nights since I'm usually high or had a few beer when I play.
I also understand that allot of people play this game for different reasons. Such as myself. I stopped wanting to be a top player and just want to have fun playing the game. So I thought about what makes it fun for me, and I exploit that in my play.
Like you said... for those who want to play competitive. So... Now it might be a bit more competitive. Are they afraid of the challenge? They are the high rank player... Not I.
The entitled part stems from your biased views. You are not looking at the whole picture from both sides of things, you are clearly favoring the survivor experience and the benefit of your play-style with this game. Which is fine alone, but, you are advocating against people that actually see problems with this change, you are confronting these people all the while offering little support behind any of it other than what benefits you and your play-style. It's entitled and It's extremely subjective.
To try and make killers feel less than for pointing out an obvious flaw with this game and how It revolves around the underlying problem with a specific perk. Yet, still being completely biased, Isn't a good look.
Instead of seeing that side of the argument, you just want to call people bad or reliant on a perk, when that isn't even close to what any reasonable complaint being made on the issue actually is. It isn't that simple, no matter how badly you want it to be so that It fits your agenda with the topic. It doesn't work that way.
There is a HUGE difference between competitive and challenge, and both revolve around balance. It can't be a competitive game because It's simply not balanced. It is one sided, in favor, of survivors due to poor map design mostly. IMO
Challenge is another story as well. Stripping things from one side of the game, making things unfavorable for that same side, that isn't challenge, that's just frustrating and unbalanced.
Gen speed is an issue I think in large part because of how big some of these maps are.
Either way, there is a problem.
A challenge is within a balanced construct within the game. That is not currently being offered. It is lop-sided, frustrating, and simply not fun.
That, again, is using a cop-out to try and justify how unfair this change truly is. It's not a good excuse, there is ZERO reason that the killer players of this game should be the only ones that require skill to play this game at high ranks. That's ridiculous.
They LITERALLY just removed GREAT SKILL CHECKS from the game because It was "too hard". GTFO. Absolutely absurd.

The problem is I like to play both sides.... If I find something unfun on the one side, I try my best not to do it on the other side. Ruin I find unfun, so I don't use it.
With or without Ruin you can have a match where you are squeezing the biggest turd out trying to win, that when you do, you're still not satisfied.
So I play for fun... I don't play in the high ranks as killer, cause that ######### gets boring really fast. Some people enjoy playing in the high ranks as killer. The changing of ruin doesn't change that.
If you were relying on a perk to make the game fun for you... One perk... Then maybe...You weren't really having much fun anyways. Maybe it would be good to find what you enjoy in the game and the level at which you want to play it, and have fun.
AGAIN. You sound like an entitled survivor main. Even when you say you play "both sides" you discredit your entire argument by admitting you aren't a red rank killer and that you just play for fun.
That's the problem. You are claiming to be playing the game casually for fun without care of the outcome.
Newsflash: Not everyone likes to play this way. A lot of Killers like the competitive nature of games, and would like to have some resemblance of balance to cater to this way of playing the game. Not every killer plays the game to cater to the survivor experience. Most of us understand there is two sides of the fence and it SHOULD be balanced for both sides of that fence to ensure that BOTH parties have fun playing this game.
If you are actually trying to win, as killer, unlike you, It's not fun to lose every other game. Even when you are playing well. It's not fun to lose because of circumstances outside of your control. That's not balanced. That's just BS.
You are trying to spin this narrative that if killers complain about ruin, they are just relying on that perk. That literally isn't the problem. Its obvious that's not why most people are complaining about the change. It's the underlying issues with the game that is the major issue. The fact that it wasn't addressed even remotely before this change was made, is where the true anger lies.
It's common sense.
I don't like ruin either but taking it away was not smart without actually doing something about the real problem behind the perk.
It sure AF wasn't the emblem system that was the issue.

@TheBean said:
GAH!!!
It all comes down to the conditioning of killer players....
- No you are not expected to get 4Ks every game... Getting 4K a match should be extremely difficult.
- When the first 2 gens pop after your first chase, it doesn't mean you lost. Stop thinking the match is over.
- Not every killer is supposed to play equally well at every level of ranked play. BHVR has already stated this before.
- Just because you play Killer allot, doesn't mean you should always be at rank 1. Sometimes players need to accept the fact, they just aren't that good.
- Change is good. If nothing ever changes the game gets boring and then people will complain more.
- Killer players were already complaining about the gen speed even while using Ruin. Those players will still be complaining even if Ruin was never touched.
I love the.... Survivor queues are going to get longer. You know... There are many survivor players right now that would rather play killer but the killer queues are too long. Having some of the baby killer mains switch sides, will free up those queues a bit, so those survivor players can now play killer again.
They can leave a hole, but there will be others taking their place.
This is so easy for an entitled survivor like you to say. It's absurd that you even have the nerve to throw it in killer players face considering how pampered you are by these DEVS.
They have been catering to you left and right. Yet, somehow, you want to talk about change and how killer players just need to get better. Lmao
Okay, Karen. Cool. SMH

K... So now killers are required to use two perk slots just to make one perk viable?
Sounds good and balanced to me. Awesome!

We need more of this, I only play killer for the extra blood points or if queues are way better... both sides have flaws, OP perks, toxic things, etc.
But we just need to stop with this Survivor main vs Killer main divide
It's never going to stop when the obvious biased changes keep happening in this game. The BHVR team are literally the ones creating this divide.

I'm done with this game. Uninstalling it now. ######### the survivor biased BS. I think killers are going to be far and few between soon and BHVR deserves just that. They deserve for their game to die for being so arrogant and ignorant with the overall community. Shame.

2020 could be the end. I could see it. RIP.

Even when the patch comes out people will still complain. People who play this game are pretty awful at it tbh. They will not alter how they play at all and then say "not having ruin broke the game. Killer is unplayable!" This is all because they were already bad at the game and used ruin as a crutch. Will have to see how actual good killer mains do with it to see if it is better or worse
This isn't very thought out. Considering you can make the VERY SAME argument the other way around.
It is proven, with old ruin, that you can still get all the gens done in 5 minutes or less... Which is incredibly fast considering Q times are often double that amount of time.
Yet, here we are, still nerfing ruin because It's "Frustrating for survivors".
Don't worry, no need to "get good" survivors, we will put that completely on the Killer side of the fence. No worries, Mates!
I mean.. Think about it.

or you could look at the bright side when ruin get nerfed the gen speed in the stats will be more clear and if it is that bad we might get a second objective and if you do get a second objective ruin SHOULD be nerfed like it or not and about doctor well he just got his rework so they will still look at him and do some tweaks like they did to spirit on release
There is absolutely NOTHING suggesting that this is what will happen. It's a pipe dream, especially when BHVR is forcefully ignoring the community right now, not giving two ######### about engaging feedback at all.
There is ZERO bright side to this because there is ZERO signs of this being a thing, anywhere.
This is simply wishful thinking with nothing to back this theory up.
