**disclaimer this is just an opinion after playing**

Alpha Squads who vocalize your every move to the entire team the entire match is a little underwhelming as killer, you're not feared, there's only certain kits that can cover the pressure gap that other killer's play styles just don't. Then they sit there and tag team and voice with dead hard and etc to extend chases to no end and it's the perfect distraction to rush gens. I've seen numerous topics about how swf is over powered, this and that. What are your thoughts?

I think the mid chapter is a good start to balance out those 3-4 end of line perks some people run. It opens up maps to not just be an endless circle chase every time, and make it more unpredictable options. It seems running the new ruin with hex:retribution is the only option to slow down games for me. i just wish for more options to put pressure, it forces me to stick to a certain build if i don't want a terribly fast and frustrating match.

What Ive noticed is the meta has changed a little. Used to be swf groups would all pile on 1 gen after the other or split to 2 gens. Chase 1 person, 2 gens pop, from there it was anyones game with them having the advantage.

Now, instead all 4 of them split to different generators. Hook the first person, find a second 2 gens pop and his is at about 90% or so. I chase him, that gen gets finished immediately because theyre communicating and its gg. I havent a clue how to combat this but dragging a survivor into basement and camping at least gets me 1 or 2k, but they dont like that πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I did all of those before the rework... including From the Void She Kills: Three blinks and a gen-grab. That took me longer than I want to admit.

Im not even botherinh with the from the void now, seems stupid hard lol

  • No, nurse is currently broken on several maps including Iron works, father campbells chapel and tge worst is Temple of Purgation. You cant blink inside the temple at all.

  • @gatsby said:

There's literally no point. Slugging at 5 gens and one hooking everyone because you have crazy add-ons makes all Survivors de-rank and at best gives you brutal killer.

If a team is doing that bad, I usually start hooking instead of slugging and let them save so I can farm a merciless killer and end the game at 2-3 gens instead of 5.

If i hook someone and they get unhooked right in front of me their getting slugged, idc how many gens there are. Its not about going for the 4 down slug its about creating pressure. If i slug one fuy, immediately chase another then a third guy has to come off a gen to get the slug. So im pressuring 3 survivors. If nobody picks up the slug i hook the guy i chased and look for the dudes workjng on gens, if i find 1 im now pressuring all 4 survivors. It doesnt matter when this process starts, it really only starts when the survivors make the mistake of being overly altruistic

Way better than me, and I even went after all her achievements. Not the best experience in the world... Keep at it! : D

Oh yeah, i did all adept acheivements last month. Nurse was hard but i found deathslinger was harder. Mainly cause im not great at fps's and his perks are awful. I depipped myself to do those though, trying to get adept acheivements in red ranks is not a life im about

  • When I think of viability I think of it as if that killer can keep up with the top teams without relying on mistakes. Most of them cannot, a good killer player can create situations where mistakes are made (like hooking in basement in the middle of your 3 gen) but if the survivors play it well theres not a lot you can do with a lot of the killers.

  • Fair point πŸ˜‚

"Why'd you tunnel two people?!" 🀣

People will cry about everything, jeez.

Reminds me of a game I had with Legion where it was a 4-man SWF and they use Shroud AND they refused to ever separate. Constant healing and instant unhooks. So every damn Frenzy was 4 wounds easily. They didn't even get one generator done.

Naturally, after the game they complained I was tunneling someone. πŸ˜ƒ

Yeah the amount of cfying in this game is crazy, ive seen it from killers too just seems substantially less

Just leave notifications off and you’ll miss them for hours. I think you can pick who’s notifications can be shown but I’m not sure. I don’t mess with the settings too much.

You can turn messages off completely, but its annoying i have to do that

The fact you were playing nurse on Xbox is a testament to your character. I cant stand playing as her... but then again I am in red ranks, so maybe it would be easier at lower ones (idk what rank you are)?

Im in the red ranks too, it was rough at first but im getting better. I go in knowing im going to lose and am suprised when i do well. Im managing to 2k a lot now, few weeks ago i couldnt even hit people πŸ˜‚

  • It happens a lot, AT LEAST every other game. Thats why TUR was able to build a whole yt channel off it. It doesnt stop.

  • After the first hit drop pallet early and if its safe continue to loop till he breaks pallet. Nothing he can do unless its unsafe or hes a God

Understandable I play against survivors like that all the time but no matter how much they try to annoy me I won't bm back because I feel like if I do that it just means I let it get to me. And as for tbagging to get the killer off of your teammates I can understand that as well and efficient killers will usually ignore it and try to secure their kill if they know that person is on death hook but I suppose in this sense it can be a valid, yet frowned upon by some, strategy kinda like hook camping.

Eh, I see it as all in fun. When i play survivor and get dmacked on hook i legit laugh every time, tbagging is just silly and doesnt bother me. The messages are the real problem.

Case on point, I just played a match as doc. Ot was really close, i think the last gen was at like 98% when the 4th person took hatch. So i sent each of them messages saying ggwp. Tge 3 I killed didnt respond. This is the message I got from the chick who got hatch

    20200511_021613.jpg

Just seems unnecessary and this is the real problem. Tbagging, flashliggt clicks, all that stuff in game is whatever. But almost every game I get something similar to this when I play killer. Ive gotten messsges from killers too but its so rare its not even worth mentioning.

  • @The_Bootie_Gorgon said:

I believe this is happening because there are not enough red rank killers to match up with every red rank survivor lobby.

This could be why we are seeing brown rank killers going against red rank lobbies.

This csnt be it, Im rank 1 killer and frequently get matched up against purples and greens. And its noticable too, people say rank doesnt matter and to an extent it doesnt but i think the colors do matter.

  • I was playing survivor today and a legit rank 19 killer got matched against all red ranks. And he was playing huntress, the poor dude got 2k bps, so at the end of tge trial i just left as did everyone but 1 dude. I click over to spectate and that dude was ckickjng his flashlight runnjng around in circles shike the killer desperately tried to hit him. It was f-ed up and I wouldnt blame the killer for uninstalljng this game and never playing again

  • @hanniballecturer said:

Clocks are the lowest-risk, easiest way to get out of sleep. It takes a single survivor, interacting with a highlighted object.

Compare this to failing a skill check, which notifies the killer, or being woken up, which requires a little coordination between two survivors.

Every method has to have a cost, so the clock has distance (but also rewards you for your travel time with a thirty-second grace period).

That, you being asleep is half of Freddys power, so like other do said it should come with some risk in getting out

  • Sometimes its just fun to give a little smack, sometimes if youre annoying you get a few. Like yesterday I had a Jake that kept spamming in and out of a locker cause he wanted to use his head on, unfortunately for him his timing was bad so i kept yanking him out of lockers. He got smacked a lot.

When I play survivor I tbag to goad the killer into chasing me when i havent been hooked yet and others have.

  • @CashelP14 said:

Very good change. Now they should hide the survivors names from the killer till after the match is completed.

I got to be honest I wish they hid the killers name from both lists but especially tge lobby, tge messages from salty ass survivors gets old and I dont want to have to keep messages turned off all the time

I promise I'm not trying to rub anything in, this is just for the sake of clarity because I promised I would tell you what I found out. I did ask Almo about the Ruin changes and the recent mid-chapter update, and he said that while the Ruin nerf did affect average generator completion time and average game length (minimally, by about 30 seconds or so), it had little to no effect on the kill rates. Additionally, the recent changes to maps and repair speeds were in no way motivated by the Ruin rework or its aftermath, they just knew that it was something the players were concerned about and the devs agreed with those concerns to an extent, so it made sense to change it.

I just find it hard to believe it had 0 impact on kill rates at all. At tge very least there should have been a few weeks to a month period where killers that were dependant on it (like myself) had to learn how to play without it.

If everyone did what I did I can see why kill rates werent effected to much, i depipped myself back to 13 and got back to 1 without it. Took me a min but i got there, my own kill rates dipped for a few weeks then came back up. Idk, maybe youre right just seems really hard to believe

I agree Haddonfield is a beast for killer, I like to play trapper and this one is hard.

Put traps on the outside of the windows upstairs. Survivors cant disarm them and once they know what youre doing it screws up their better loops

I hear this a lot, that Red Rank do not camp. I am a red rank survivor, currently a 4, and I will tell you from vast experience that there is a buttload of camping in red ranks. Its amount is less than rank 10 but certainly not rare by any stretch of the imagination. So you must get something from it or it would not be so prevalent.

Define camping. Im r1 killer, I get accused of camping almost every game and rarely am I actually camping. I'm also a r1 survivor and I rarely see actual camping, and usually when I do tgeres an obvious reason for it.

  • They already get punished. 3 v1 is a LOT harder for them than 4 v 1. This is why dc was such a problem

  • Whats funny is its not emeven really tbagging. I just laugh cause it looks so stupid. If someone isnt on the ground below you its not tbagging and its the same movement you do to thank someone for healing you. Its funny πŸ˜‚

  • @Fibijean said:

Back for more psychological analyses - this time, I'm interested in how players perceive particular characters, based on things they've heard, past experiences, etc.

They could be survivors or killers. Do you expect certain killers to camp or meme? Do you dread being put on a team with someone playing a specific survivor? Do you judge someone's likely skill level based on who they're playing or what cosmetics they're wearing? Do you tunnel people or let them live based on their character or cosmetics? And why?

Let me know all about your in-game prejudices, rational or otherwise! It doesn't have to be limited to the questions above, those are just prompts to get you thinking.

(Usual disclaimer applies - I am a design student, using the DBD forums as a case study for my Honours research project. I won't include any personally identifying information, such as usernames, but insights gained from this post may be used as part of my studies.)

Cannibal always has noed and almost always camps (though I dont blame him for either since his chainsaws so dang slow)

Claudettes going to hide most of the match and if its just you and her left shes leaving you on hook for hatch.

    Just based on experience

Yea thanks, also incase you weren't aware if you fully charge a blink and they run at you, just look down and you'll blink on the spot pretty much so they run right into you

Yeah its a neat trick, i use that at pallets to. They drop the pallet, i start to blink like im gojng over but instead look down and they vault right into me.

  • I just started playing with her recently myself. Shes a lot of fun once you start to get the blink ranges down. I dont have any advice since im pretty new myself except to say watch the survivors. They tend to behave differently and 1 survivor tends to use tge same trick. Example, if a survivor turns around and runs right at you when you blink, next time shorten your blink cause theyll probably do it again.

I've told this story before, but once when I was playing Plague, I had someone disconnect on me during EGC when I was carrying him to his death hook. Asked why in the post-game chat, he replied "didn't want to give a kill to a [bundle of sticks]".

Okay, mate. Enjoy your zero bloodpoints and five-minute lockout, I guess?

Yeah thats the best, especially when youre still getting the points for the kill πŸ˜‚

  • 20200315_000236.jpg

This is my favorite. I was new to using nurse. Had played maybe 5 or 6 games with her. Get sent to hawkins and I hit this chick, she gets away. I chase another chick hit her and she gets away. Then i see this girl healing with NC and I managed to blink on top of her and down her. Needless to say she wasnt happy dc'd. First time I got a 4k with the nurse. I have no idea how this makes me a coward πŸ˜‚

  • @Fibijean said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1268841#Comment_1268841

Or maybe, kill rates didn't change very much either way and those changes were made with the goal of improving the player experience in mind and had nothing to do with kill rates. The fact that someone did a thing is not evidence for why they did the thing. That's an assumption that you're making.

No, its not an assumption. It's common sense in this case.

  • Happens on Xbox too. Its ridiculous

  • @Fibijean said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1268821#Comment_1268821

Do we have any evidence that low kill rates were the reason for those changes, as opposed to the reasons they actually gave (game health, map balance, etc.)? Just because Ruin got changed and then later they adjusted maps and coop repairs doesn't necessarily mean one was a direct result of the other. Correlation does not equal causation.

πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ What do you think game health and map balance means exactly πŸ˜‚ The fact that they made the changes is the evidence. If the opposite were true, if killers were 4king every game, they would have went the other way. This is stupid simple.

It's true that they haven't released statistics since then, but I'm quite sure that if kill rates had plummeted after the Ruin rework and never recovered, the devs would have taken notice and done something about it. Also, I have spoken to members of the dev team about it since then (on their streams, to clarify, in case anyone misinterprets that to mean that Trusted members have some kind of direct line or influence that we don't), and by all accounts, statistically, everything has been pretty positive.

Incidentally, what you're describing is a problem with the Emblem system (if anything), not the absence of Ruin. And it's been explained in the past that Ruin was skewing the statistics so much that it needed to not be so prevalent in order to properly diagnose and fix the actual problems. It may have worked as a band-aid at the time, but in the long run it was impeding the game's upward progress.

They did something...they nefed group repairing and made maps smaller...why else would they do that if kill statistics didnt plummet? Gen speeds have always been a problem, thats why they introduced ruin to begin with

  • If i see 4 people all with same name on console, Im out. Ya'll have fun

I do think if you are camped to death you should at least safety pip. It doesnt take anything away from Killers, but it also doesn't take your rank because someone decided they didnt want you to play the game.

100%. Safety pip and a percentage of the bps everyone else earned.

  • I actually think compensation should go the other way. If youre being camped you should get a percentage of everything thats being done by your teamates, youre a distraction.

I also think any system implemented to stop camping tunneling would be abused into the ground and this game would die pretty quick. Theres no real point in speculating how how they could make it better for killers from there, because there wouldnt be any

Can someone tell me the reason behind this?

It's making the game quite boring honestly

    I couldn't help myself :P

Because its a clutch perk that can get you out of a tight spot. Ds is only a problem because people can abuse it by running around clickjng flashlights while theyre immube to the hook. Otherwise its fine (though the timer on it should be reduced a little)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1268409#Comment_1268409

Okay... Could you explain why Killers have the exact opposite mentality? "I feel like I'm being gen rushed. All the gens are done before I've killed anyone. I deserve more kills and/or at least one kill."

If they can kill you they do deserve the kill, if they dont they didnt. Just like if you escape you deserve the escape. Why wouldnt that be true? You deserve whatever you can take in this game, thats true of both sides as long as you're not legit cheating. Noed/tunneling/camping isnt cheating any more than gen rushing/ds/bt/pallet looping is πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

    @Entity_Hugs

I really wish you'd rephrase this...

You use it because it's one of the only Perks that allows you to have a chance of winning after you've, for all intents and purposes, already lost.

I'm pretty sure SWF are less common than dead zones and proxy camping (at least in my region and/or on my platform). Are you really taking the time to check profiles and friend lists? After all, that is how you confirm a SWF exists.

People over state swf, all you need is 4 good survivors that actually do gens and run the appropriate solo que perks. And it hasnt lost until the survivors actually leave. That mentality is exactly why survivors get so upset when a killer camps during end game collapse "but we already won youre not allowed to kill us" πŸ˜’

My moneys on Candyman. Id ratger it be Pinhead or Pennywise, but all signs point to Candyman. I dont dislike Scott I just dont think he knows 100% and hes making a guess.
