  • I mentioned this in another thread: One of the things I figured out is it seems the game records your rank late on the 11th or early on the 12th and AT FIRST your rank reset is based on that. But then if you leave and come back it has picked up on its mistake and adjusts accordingly.

So lets say you depip yourself from rank 1 to rank 9, on the 12th, when you first login on the 13th you SHOULD be at rank 13, but youll actually be at rank 9 (or possibly 5). Then when you leave and come back youll be at 13.

For purely data gathering purposes I have tested this a few times 😌

For those of us who love DbD as much as the developers themselves, what MAKES us love it? We can't just say that it's fun, because many games are fun. But what do you guys think is that one thing about DbD that makes it different from everything else? My brother has asked me this question and every way I responded was counteracted by many other games I have. For example: the game is infinite because you can always upgrade killers due to more keep coming, yet many games are like this. What do you guys think TRULY makes DbD so fun?

Its more complex than it appears. Some people think theyre playing checkers when theyre actually playing chess. Who has the better plan and who executes that plan better? Who adapts their strategy better on the fly. It requires quick thinking and a merciless attitude from both sides in order to do well. THAT makes it fun. Plus I like to slap stuff πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Killers, I recently played a match where Michael Myers killed the sh!t out of my team, in under 5 minutes? We were all on the same rank. No flashlights. No loops. He was genuinely a good killer (I'm an okay player) now here's the thing. I go into spectate mode after I die and watch the killer basically trick the last survivor into thinking he's let him find the hatch, just to down him. Once the killer left, the Survivor had Unbreakable, so he got up and searched for the hatch. The killer caught him, downed him, allowed him to break free from his grasp, they found the hatch together, and then he downed them again. Closed the hatch in front of them, and refused to hook them. I couldn't figure out why he did that? I personally would have dc'd, not because I lost but because he would t end the match. Why didn't he just hook the guy instead of forcing him to crawl until he died.

He was being a serious dick. This is comparable to the survivor that can leave the match but just doesnt and makes the clearly outplayed killer chase them for awhile knowing full well theyre going to escape. Both need to calm down and just end the match

It mostly bothers me because I feel you should be able to take both survivor and killer to level 50 not have to regrind after you choose which one.

I know a lot of people would like to be able to p3 and all perk in one go, but I don't think 5 mill is enough quite yet.

  • The overall 1 million cap is fine, its the in game cap for individual categories i dont like. If you hit the killer with 10 pallets you hit cap way before that and stop earning. The 32000 per game cap is fine but they should remove the requirements for different categories

I know a lot of people hard tunnel the OoO users. They feel the perk is cheap and should be removed or changed significantly.

Its not about the perk being cheap, its fine honestly, it just means if possible that person has to go first because they are the eyes of the team

in what world is this fair?

Ive beat a team with that before, a few times.

Number 1) if you suspect this is going to happen run freddys blindness add on (yes, these addons actually have a use). If that OoO is hit you can see them in chase they cant see you.

Number 2) Play the game normally but ignore the object unless they are out of position and you catch them slipping.

Number 3) these teams are heavily reliant on the person with OoO, they will be overly altruidtic with that person. Dont be afraid to camp, and FOR SURE if you get that person on the hook tunnel the crap out of them, especially if its early in the game.

*do not camp and tunnel to your own detriment though. If the other survivors arent coming go pressure gens. If the OoO has a significant lead coming off the hook go after the unhooker instead.

For anyone about to complain about me saying to camp/tunnel, save it. I dont care. You dont beat teams like this by following the survivors rule book. You will get stomped every time if you try and play nice.

I think it also provides an extra layer to the twisted nature of the trials. Because in that situation, you're sitting next to yourself on a generator (which all by itself is crazy) but then he gets caught and you go hide and he gets hooked. Do you save him? But... he's not him, he's you and what happens if you die? Will that be you later? Or... was that you before? Under the intense pressure of a murderous killer hunting you down you try to wrap your head around it and it's just impossible. Because there's no way to distinguish it all, you've been here for so long, or have you? It feels like centuries... or.. yesterday?

It really adds an element of mental torture on top of the already gruesome nature of the trials. Something I don't think people who don't read / look into the lore much less analyze it completely understand. Of course this isn't something that's exactly confirmed, but it does make a lot of sense given what we've got.

I think the devs also confirmed that some survivors wake up in each new trial believing that it's their first. Which is both messed up, and yet in its own way, a kind of mercy.

Yeah exactly, its like the dntity adding in another layer of psychological torture. Its bad ass

I really love this community and the theories and headcanons you guys craft it's probably one of the best and none elements of this community.

    .

In saying that I do think you guys are going a little overboard in crafting an idea behind something that's just a game mechanic.

Since there's no universal group loadout pool for survivors everyone has their own individual loadouts it would be really annoying for example considering I main Min and sometimes Yui ( my only two survivors with all the perks and it's pretty much going to remain that way) that I couldn't play either because two people were playing them before I hit the lobby and then I was forced to play Claudette who has nothing good on her

Well we get that its just a game mechanic (and a good one), but some of us are nerds that need everything to be lore based so we look for explanations. I do tge same thing with movie franchises that have poor continuity from one movie to another. Like Halloween jumping from Halloween 6 to Halloween h20, in reality they pretended all those movies didnt exist, but in my mind laurie faked her death and left jaime behind after part 2, that way everything fits.

    Nerd. I know.

what many dont appear to understand is, that you are not supposed to win a chase against the killer.

safe loops turn unsafe, bloodlust turns the killer into more of a threat the longer the chase goes on and the resources are limited.

pallets and windows arent ment to be used as looping spots the killer cant touch you on until the game is over, they are ment to break LoS during chases and allow the Survivor to escape the killer and sneak away - or stall the inevitable demise that comes uppon them a little longer.

in the end, skill during a chase is determined by two possible scenarios: A: you escape the chase and the killer needs to look for a new victim (best possible outcome), or B: you stall your downfall for as long as possible. the later is the most common one, of course, yet some seem to think they could take the killer in chases and just loop them until the game is over - because that used to be possible. the same players are now the most upset ones when the game shifts into a direction where this is no longer possible.

a Survivor should never be able to win a 1v1 against the killer, unless there is a big skill difference between them.

this is a 4v1 game, just because you as a single person can not loop the killer until all gens are done does not mean the game is unbalanced. you are supposed to work together as a team to beat the killer after all, not have one guy distract him all game and everyone else just doing gens and leave.

TL;DR: 1v1 scenarios should always end up in a killers victory. you as an individual not being able to loop the killer until 3 or so gens are done does not make the game unbalanced. the killer is supposed to handle 4 survivors at the same time after all, so it would only make sense to have each survivor equal roughly one fourth of the killers actual strength (a bit more might be healthier). that does include them not being able to stall out a hook for as long as they currently can.

    This 100%

  • @GoddessStacia said:

In their most recent QnA stream, Ethan argues how that killer should exhibit pressure onto the survivor by gaining movement speed throughout the chase. I find this argument to be pretty weak. A survivor should not be punished by outmaneuvering the killer in a chase. If the killer is being out-skilled then they should not be rewarded with a compensation speed boost to make up for their misplays. If you as the killer is chasing a survivor for extended period of time, then it is more smart/efficient to leave that survivor to pressure others that are on generators. My argument to the devs is that as the killer there are other ways to exhibit pressure around the map than just giving killers a free and undeserved movement speed boost. This discourages killers to play better and instead fall back on a buff that they will inevitably get. This also makes those unsafe pallet 50/50 mind games much less fun. Thanks to bloodlust, the killer is able to down the survivor not because they won the mind game, but because they didn't have to break the pallet and bloodlust passively allowed them to get the cheeky hit on the survivor because suddenly they can move much faster. This meant that it didn't matter how well the survivor played the mind game and that the killer was eventually going to catch up to you with their bloodlust no matter what.

Edit: Many seem to think bloodlust should be removed without any changes to strong tiles. I want the removal of bloodlust AND less strong pallets, but more (unsafe) pallets overall around the map.

Tofu explains this very well in his most recent video, so if you have time please give it a watch.

    https://youtu.be/AzD_52FYDu4

Why are you letting the killer outplay you by getting bloodlust? Just drop a freaking pallet and loop it till he kicks it, this isnt rocket science. I cant even remember the last time i got to bloodlust 2.

I never wanted to do it, but for some reason I started with it. After I already got all Perks on every Killer. But I only prestige one Killer at a time.

My goal is now also to get everyone to p3. I have like 70 Tombstone Pieces on my Myers because he is P3.

Yeah thats what I did too. I got a the killers and survivors up to 40, then a couple killers to p3 and david to p3, now I ve only got 5 killers left then ill do the rest of the survivors.

Ive noticed too that i have to go about a million past p3 before i have enough good perks and add ons too so i do that as well. Only 2 of my killers have ALL tier 3 perks (trapper and fred).

Literally, follow them through the window then turn around and go back through it. You really want them running in the direction of that open window at the back of the bus but ive had it work in all directions like 7 times out of ten.

  • When I play survivor I like the idea I can play for free and pocket the blood points. Helps with the grind. Every add on/offering you use costs bps to get, so you have to earn more than you spent or the match wasnt worth it from a bp perspective. If you use no add ons/offerings its all profit. Literally why i almost never use ultra rare add ons with killer. Those are expensive 😬

yeah 4 survivor should still be able to chip away at gens. That being said I don’t think they HAVE to try, and I don’t think the killer HAS to leave the area.

Personally I would give in pretty quick because I don’t wanna play an hour long game. Just the other day we got three gemmed against Doctor with overcharge/unnerving after a couple minutes I just stayed on a gen til he got me hopefully I bought that other 3 some time.

Idk how often its enforced but the devs have mentioned before that holding the game hostage is against TOS. If the killer refuses to ever engage with the survivors and just protects the gens, or i imagine if survivors refuse to ever work on gens thats holding the game hostage. It really only comes up in a 3 gen situation and I imagine it more falls on the killer since he can still go and look for the survivors.

Imagine that there are 4 survivors that 3 genned themselves and you decide to protect those gens.

Are they allowed to not do the gens until you leave? Since its in their best interest to wait you out.

If there are 4 survivors left at the three gen they still have the advantage, 1 survivor aggros chase with the killer the other three pile on a generator. As long as tge person being chased lasts more than 35 secs the gens done.

If the killer doesnt go for that then you all split up on different gens and work all 3 at the same time. He cant be in 3 places at once and will eventually have to commit to a chase.

Ive had survivors do what youre sugfesting, they always die eventually as I will start adjusting my patrol to include further parts of the map if its obvious they just arent going to do gens.

So youre willing to throw all your points away and sit through a dc ban just to force the killer into getting a 3k instead of a 4k? Thats one of the most ludacris things Ive ever heard and a wonderful argument on why the dc ban exists πŸ˜‚

I give my teammate the hatch quicker and if everything works out I cost the killer a sacrifice...actually two...though yes he does get a quitters bonus.

If no killer cares why did the OP list dc'ing to give hatch one of his #1 pet peeves...obviously a good many do in fact care.

No, you cost him 1 best caee scenario. You dcing counts as a kill. The only time a dc hurts a killers points is right at the beginning of the game, he can slaughter the other three easily, so less points from them as well as less points from whatever he would have got off you.

You quitting in the scenario you gave means you gurantee him the 3k. The 2 that are already dead and you. And i went back and read the op, he was talking about dcing in general because in 99% of situations it benefits the killer and they dont care about that little bit of bp loss

  • I had a survivor get stuck inside a hook the other day. Me and the other survivors danced around her till someone finished the gens, then i stayed with her till the timer ran out so she wouldnt die alone (i was the killer).

  • @toxcitynacl said:

If there is a strategic reason to dc...assuming I am not going to give up a great deal in the meantime yes I'll dc...some killer slugs me so he can find the other survivor before the hatch opens....yeah he can expect a dc in his immediate future.

And the killer will laugh at you. He still gets his bps and pip points. The better option is to crawl and hide. If you bleed out its TECHNICALLY a draw since he doesnt get any pip points for that (though tbh no killer cares). All you do by dcing is screw yourself

  • @Orion said:

Just match frequent DCers with other frequent DCers (keep the current penalties, though). The problem will be isolated and sort itself out.

    That. Do that. Please.

  • Frustration from lack of experience. I love saboteurs and flashlight savers. Theyre predictable AF. You see someone with a flashlight, fake picking up then go slap them. They usually end up being the first ones to die. Sabos are usually bad at it, ive smacked a survivor trying to sabo, they try again and i smack them again downing them. Now i got 2 hooks for the price of one, sometines you have to drop the dude on your shoulder, leave him slugged and go after the saboteur.

Essentially, in both cases if youre smart youre pressuring multiple survivors instead of just 1. This is a good thing. Its why the most efficient teams dont bother.
