You are recommending the Pyramid Heads ability to affect survivors like flashlight stuns affect killer. The result doesn't change, the killer would just need to get good at the timing to hit them right as they finish vaulting just like how survivors learned to time their flashlight stuns.
-
@Raptorrotas said:
Your idea removes the pressure on survivors to do anything but eoither rush gens or get chased if found.
Without the timer, theres no pressure on survivors to do risky things like going for an unhook.
Additionally, depending on how many gens get done before a rescue, or the average hanging time, hook suicides might even become more prevalent. They cant wait 45 seconds on a hook, why'd they be okay with hanging even longer?
This idea can probably be spun to be a huge buff for swf compared to solo. With only voicecomms giving certainity that you'd be rescued at all.
If survivors decide to leave a survivor on a hook to do gens yes, gens would fly by, but if another survivor goes down and gets hooked now neither of the survivors can do gens because if one of them goes down the game may end. It would be a big risk.
If you are talking about 1 person being hooked and 2 people rushing the gens while the last guy runs the killer around, even then unhooking early would be better since gens would get done faster. There are very few cases where leaving a guy on hook and temporarily doing a 3v1 is the better choice.
@RizeAki said:
This can’t work for many reasons but one of the most impactful being the fact 12 hook games aren’t possible anymore. This would set killers up to lose almost every game if not every game. Gen rushing would become massive if they never have to save their teammate until end game.
That doesn't change at all with this, no killer relies on survivors being potatoes and leaving their teammates on hooks to get hook stages. You could still win games by slugging, you could still win games by hooking all survivors regardless of their stage, those wouldn't be affected at all.

It was one of the first PTBs, I'm not sure which at this point.
The killer was able to hook another survivor back then as well, there was nothing preventing them from doing so.
Well I would need to see it to judge it but the game is MUCH different right now than it was a few years ago. Also it takes people a month or two to even get used to a new killer, a change like this would take even longer than that to test properly. If you can think of any specific problems about it it would be nice to hear them though.
-
It is interesting to see how Trapper, Doctor, Blight and Nurse are on the bottom in the Kill Rate. Even though these killer are average or above, their higher than usual skill cap is very apparent with the MMR being down.
I am VERY surprised to see Spine Chill being used that much, it is a very strong perk but it is usually underrated by most people. This is a pretty low sample size which may be the reason, but interesting nonetheless.
-
@Orion said:
The devs tried a mechanic a while back where the first hook state lasted forever. It was determined that survivors were not pressured to unhook since their teammates would not die, while the hooked survivors were bored out of their skulls because they were doing nothing for long stretches of time. Since this is essentially the same idea, just "amped up" by making every hook state last forever, I don't see it working.
Can you give me a source, I would like to see it. In the current state of the game I don't believe there wouldn't be pressure to unhook since the killer can still hook another survivor in the meanwhile. This makes it a huge risk because at that point if he slugged 1 other survivor and found the last one the game would be basically over.
-
He is not talking about banning people for face camping. He means instead of banning people for any offense, instead get a killer to facecamp them in their main menu and block from accessing the game. It's a joke.
To the OP, you should have been more clear on your post, took me like 4 reads to get it.
-
I am gonna go one step further and say its also okay to camp/tunnel to win games. It is not okay to do things just to annoy the other side (like teabagging/taunting), that would be just plain toxicity, but otherwise you can play however you like. The only people who are supposed to consider other sides fun are devs, you are free to do and use whatever you want and if it's a problem it should be fixed, not shamed.
Additionally, it's okay to do none of these and enjoy the game while taking into account other sides fun too. This is how I always play but I don't think this is in anyway the only "correct" way. Play however you want.
Repeating myself but want to emphasize that I'm not talking about people who do and use these with the sole purpose of annoying other people, that's just being a bad person. As long as your intention is winning and enjoying the game itself then it's all good.
-
Since all the new offerings are brown, they only lower the brown offerings chances. Those give like 12% more bloodpoints anyways so not really a big real.
-
A possibility is that the killer had Hex: Undying and you passed by a dull totem before entering the locker so they saw your aura. Else, maybe the hook got sabotaged so they dropped the survivor and for some other reason came to the shack.
OH forgot about the chest thing. If you quickly close a chest the killer gets a noise notification, might be that.
-
@Eninya said:
You're operating under the belief that every survivor is an absolute machine of perfect play, and discounting how important certain generators are. You can chain hooks and repeatedly beat down the same generator that could be high value due to an exposed location, and it will force survivors to reinvest in the risk of repairing it.
Unless you're getting absolutely crushed by map RNG and getting looped because you're focusing on an extremely good survivor with a build not suited for handling it, it's an incredible perk.
I didn't assume they are playing perfectly, 13 seconds = 8 meters only requires the survivor to hold W and nothing else until you catch up and they get to a loop.
You are correct about the high value location generators, but unless multiple survivors are going for that single generator that won't be the case. That only works if you are managing to prevent all of them from doing gens by protecting that gen, which is what I meant in my first paragraph by "or unless the killer has enough pressure to not even let a single survivor work on a generator".
Yes, Pop can work very well with builds that compliment it, but as a standalone slowdown perk it can do more harm than good against survivors who can manage their time and are not potatoes at looping.
-
Neither, but a combination of both. The game needs content updates AND fixes to existing problems. They have to go hand in hand.
-
Both have their uses. Against anti-heal killers in public matches healing perks like Autodidact/We'll Make It are a life saver. Inner Strength is also a big time save for both you and your team. Self Care can be very clutch if used right.
On the case of Iron Will, this perk is no reason to not heal when you have the chance. It helps tremendously in chases or when you have to stealth because of how much most good killers rely on hearing in this game. Currently it is also a must have if you are facing Spirit.
TLDR; Depends on your intentions and playstyle.
-
Red stain does the same thing, tell survivors which direction the killer is looking, but neither it or Spine Chill tells them if he is moonwalking or not. If you are messing up mindgames it is not because of Spine Chill, not many people even run the perk in the first place.
-
Yeah I'm pretty sad because the devs went silent on this change since the PTB, this was what I was most excited about too.
-
So just skip that challenge, you will have plenty of time to do it after it gets fixed. There are 2 more paths you can follow to get to the end and none of them are hard. Problem solved.
-
The reason should be your fps, they are client sided. I get smooth skill checks with 80fps limit on my 60hz monitor, you could try changing things around.
-
They aren't insults, but to be honest a lot of people throw out words not thinking what they actually mean. They are normally used as a way to blame someone of being biased of one side and not understanding the other.
-
Agreed actually. Now if you are the last survivor or if everyone hits struggle you automatically die anyways. The only reasonable case of a hook suicide would be to give the last person the hatch and I'm completely okay with removing this. This way they would either need to wait it out or go for the actual rescue.
-
He has strengths and weaknesses... but weaknesses kinda overweight the strengths so meh. Not very strong compared to any other killer. He has one of the strongest iridescent addons in the game though, that counts for something probably.
-
There are toxic players in all communities, we can't do anything to fix it. I personally find it hilarious survivors or killers ######### talking after they lose since it just means they are incapable of dealing with defeat in a video game. In the case of me being defeated though it can get tilting, but that's every competitive game for you.
-
If you are making a request you should be in the Feedback section, not General Discussion. This is for players generally discussing.
-
They are making a better job in the newer maps at least, including the reworked Lery's. They are probably planning to fix totem spots map rework by map rework, so this problem should be fully fixed by 2030, we just need to be patient.
On a serious note, yeah just a totem fix update would be nice.
-
The style is nice.
Being able to see survivors that hide behind gens is nice.
The darkness is not nice and definitely needs changing. They are too hard to see and for colorblind people sometimes even impossible to see.
-
That's basically low ranks for you. Ebony means a depip most of the time so people who use it are mostly in around those ranks. One of the few advantages of being a red rank survivor is that to be honest.
-
If you make a suggestion that means you are open to both positive and negative feedback, don't expect people to pat you on the back and say "Good Job" even if you did a bad job. Yes you can blame everyone else and complain about it like you did here, or you can learn from it, understand the game better and make better suggestions in the future.
-
To me that's like saying increasing your brightness or having a light screen is an unfair advantage. Yes of course those changes can give an advantage but everyone is able to tweak those display settings, they exists so people can use them to their liking.
-
From personal experience I can say that if a game like this doesn't get any actually new content for that long it would lose a lot of players. So even if they were to focus on fixing the problems in the game, they can't stop working on new content. So BOTH.

so you playing on console? im pc user so i don't know what this guy exped
if you remain logical sense why devs put untested new aura in public and how you can still defend it?
According to the patch notes:
"Aura Rework - Refactored the Aura System on a technical level to make sure the system is easier to maintain and less prone to bugs in the future. Visuals for the Refactor were changed to support the new refactor. Functionally the system has not been significantly changed, however the appearance of auras is noticeably different."
TLDR; They reworked auras so they won't bug in the future as much.
So making them darker wasn't the intention, and with all the people complaining it's most definitely getting changed. You are right about the untested part, but it may have just not been finished fully when PTB released. So I don't wanna blame them before at least the first hotfix.
Also I'm not playing on console, I'm a PC player, but I wasn't defending the bug in any way. He was acting like the lag in the console is devs not caring about the console players and stuff, I was replying to that. I did play on console in the past so I know the general performance problem there but that post was aimed fully on a bug that apparently appeared this patch a couple hours ago.

Why wouldn't he be mad and express his discontent? You think he is just raving and raging for no reason? The devs time and time again for YEARS have FAILED to properly optimize for console and code their game properly on ALL platforms, he spent his money and has a right to be angry at a product he invested into that currently isn't living up to what he put into it.
And yes you should be ashamed of trying to defend a company making millions off this game and can't even be asked bug check their work instead of pumping out content like a sweat shop
"Completed Game" and "In Development". DbD is an "in development" game which means everything in it can change, bugs may happen and you accept this when buying this game. He can be as angry as he wants, I never said anything about his anger. Since you obviously didn't read my first comment here is a summary: He called out devs for not giving a [BAD WORD] about console players and said he was done with the game because of some bugs and a change that everyone complained about (and you called these valid complaints, which I still find hilarious). In his second comment he called this same thing negligence. If you think these are true I point those two comments to you as well.
Maybe this may surprise you but companies make money and that doesn't directly make them evil. Also another surprise, they have a whole team of HUMANS who bug check this game, but like any other HUMAN they don't get to fix everything and games like this don't function the same in a small testing environment and when released globally.

If they did, they wouldn’t create useless add ons for Billy amongst many other things.
What do you want me to say? “My game lags a lot” everybody knows that for years and the situation only gets worse.
But go on, go give them a $10 dollar cosmetic.
Nah you can complain and rage, a lot of people here does and I couldn't care less about it. I just gave an answer to you acting like these bugs are a huge middle finger to the console community, when they are just bugs that will be fixed soon. If you want it fixed there are Bug Report and Feedback sections in this forum. If you are here you aren't trying to get it fixed, you just want to complain.
You really went off topic with your last sentence but here's my answer: I have never paid money for a cosmetic but if a person wants to pay 10$ for a cosmetic they would use for months maybe instead of a Big Mac, I see no problem with it. This one makes you look kinda desperate to find an insult to be honest, at least try to find something I actually mentioned next time.

first, i did pick only 1 bad addon :), the other is an okay add on :) (pallet stun one) got ya there.
now for something non trolly, i agree for billy, it's mostly i don't play him, so as a new billy a struggle with this mechanic, you have to take that in consideration and i should have said it on the post. now i still think if it's non existant what was the point to make it hard to learn? anyway.
For franklin i was saying that in the beginning of the match, sfw group can drop their best item to get them when needed (i was thinking a lot about keys). sorry if that wasn't very clear it's 1 am here. but it can aslo work for powerful item, agaisnt solo it's a big buff.
Knock out wasn't buff, having crawl speed reduce for 15 second is not useful especially when no one can see you + i totally forgot the you can see the survivor on the ground at 32 meter so second nerf. just stay in place and wait. i agree the nerf is good for solo, but it wasn't really use unless it's a meme and/or cancer slugging build . so eh.
I'm all hears is really good, beceause it use at loops so you can see how the survivor loops, lightborn only trigger when someone try to blind you, and if you get pallet stunned and don't kick, most of the time it safe, now it can be use but i still think the aura reading can only be use once before survivor stop flashlight you. Unless they are dumb.
Atleast everyone agree on tinker that's nice.
i hope so, but i have to say making my eye hurt made see elsewhere.
well is it fair to survivor to have a fully ready character, queue with a character that has nothing on him and change at the last second to the fully geared one, i think not, so it should be for both side for this reason, but i get the point of mmr so i come back it should not be change but be for both side.
And just something, i am anylising as a solo survivor and killer eyes, i don't think it's fair for solo to have counter while sfw get nothing, i just got fed up with that since the silent hill chapter. i think the bad thing got to me someway and don't get me started on the skin thing i didn't to talk about it much but it's bullshit their new system.
Anyway thanks for the response you respond to everything and that's nice.
Well both the flashlight addons are pretty bad, instead of either you can get Lightborn and be better off, but yeah your point is fair enough.
Can't say anything on the learning curve, if it's really harder than before I would say this heat up change is actually bad, since it didn't change nearly anything for good Billy users.
Well in either case for Franklins they can't use their items, the swf and solo gap has always been a problem so I'm just accepting it in these kinds of changes.
I didn't understand that part fully but they didn't remove the 32 meter aura if that's what you meant. The changes were just additions, also according to what I heard from Otz it also muffles the downed survivors hearing for a couple seconds too. I see it as a buff since it makes it harder for survivors to crawl to another survivor after recovering or simply to under a pallet and in swf it makes it harder for them to give info to their team.
I wasn't clear on lightborn I believe, if a survivor tries to blind you on a pallet or at a window and you have this perk they will have lost a lot of distance. So that's either a free hit or if there is a loop very close by the aura reading is basically a free mindgame.
Survivors being locked to change their setups 10-15 seconds before the killer would be a nice fix to quick swapping. I don't think there is a reason to lock item/character swapping in lobbies completely for survivors, it would just be needless anti-QoL (I personally would prefer if either side didn't see the others setup/steam profiles but that's just an opinion.)
I wish they focused more on the solo-swf gap too. I don't get what you meant by the "skin thing" btw.

Yeah I agree that's what their consistent theme seems to be.
But lately this "unique" pink add-on theme only makes them straight up awful. Which is why I think simplicity is best.
Pyramid-head's, demo's, and even deathslinger's are all worse than commons/uncommons.
Yeah they haven't been very well with the implementation but I much prefer this theme. I don't even wanna imagine them making an addon like Clowns Pinky Finger for a new killer that is actually competent.

The problem is, since I play both fairly often, I would say out of all the things you listed, Spirit Stridor is probably the most annoying. Death Slinger isn't all that, he's mid tier at best. Huntress, well if they can't throw well or you decent at juking then really 1 shot just means less hatches for them to throw, plus I barely ever see that addon anymore.
Yeah the addon is kinda like Moris, it's broken but since it's boring to use and results in little bp + a depip people aren't using it as much these days... but with 3 hatchets that are all insta-downs, any actually good Huntress can land at least one of them in a chase.
Deathslinger's problem isn't that he is overpowered but his ability has no counterplay. If he knows his gaps and can aim well you won't last seconds against him in most loops. Same problem with Spirit, no counterplay on survivors side, only difference is Spirit also has really good map pressure. If these are ever fixed, I would actually like a buff to Deathslinger's map pressure, going down in seconds against him and still escaping as a survivor isn't really fun, not even mentioning the killers side in this case.

Guess I'm a killer main.
lol
Well I assumed the best, if you play survivor regularly and think iridescent Head is balanced to face or Spirit + Stridor or Deathslinger has any kind of skill or counter play to face then I would be worried about you. You may think these problems aren't a big deal, but claiming there are no problems at all would be ridiculous in that case. You being a killer main and seeing survivor complaints.. what was the word?
@Swiftblade131 said:
We still complaining about this?
Wasn't Death Slinger or Spirit the thing to complain about rn? Or something stupid like that?
Stupid! Yeah seeing other peoples problems stupid is a much believable case for me. There are a lot of people like that here and you exactly fit the criteria.
Also if you want a more simple answer, all 3 problems you mentioned in your comment were about killers, its not hard to guess what side you are biased.
-
@Swiftblade131 said:

Believe it or not there are more than a single problem in the game right now. One shot hatchets is one of them, killers with no counter play is another. Try looking at other discussions, maybe getting out of your killer main bubble would benefit you.
@slim0b said:
If you played huntress in red ranks you know charging up your hatchet and being patient is usually the best way to get guaranteed hits, so here's my idea.
Iridescent Head
• Survivors hit by your hatchets suffer from the Hindered and Exhausted status effect for 30s (same hindered as the hindered ones she already has)
• Your hatchets throws charge up rate is doubled (so like instead of preparing a fully charged shot in 3s you would do it in 1.5s)
• You start the trial with 2 less hatchets
I don't agree iridescent addons should be straight up buffs to abilities, then there wouldn't be any balance left in the game. It should be something that changes the playstyle of the killer like Hags, Myers's or Ghostface's iridescent addons. If other addons couldn't increase the magazine size I believe it would be good enough.

The aura changes were already in the PTB.
Every update that comes we get more and more bugs and even more lag, so I’m sorry if I can’t keep my ######### together when this game keeps LAGGING to the point it’s unbearable to play. It’s negligence to console players now.
If you play on PC don’t quote me cause you don’t know what you’re talking about.
No the aura changes weren't in PTB. If you wanna see for yourself look at any Youtuber or streamer game play of the last PTB.
So the game having bugs is negligence to console players, do you even know what "negligence" means? Do you think the lag you are having is an intentional feature? Do you think that if a bug isn't fixed in the next couple hours after the update that devs don't care? Do you think devs are machines that don't sleep and work 24/7 and they are able to fix any problem in the 5 different platforms this game runs on instantly?
If your answer to any of these questions is "yes" then you either have an extremely entitled point of view or you need to look up the dictionary. Please go fix yourself and stop whining about the game not being perfect, it has never been, deal with it like everyone else or wait until it's fixed.
-
Billy overheat is nearly non-existent, stop making the fact that you didn't even touch him any more obvious. He doesn't need amazing addons either, he has been a top tier killer even without addons and still is. Billy change is very good except some addon bugs and a few worthless addons (which every killer has, and funnily you used the worst 2 addons to criticize his whole kit).
Dropping the item to counter Franklins, that's the point of Franklins. You are probably making the killers job easier by wasting time dropping the item before every chase and running back to it after... and you still don't get to use it. (Unless its a key, but that's a different problem in itself)
Knock Out was nerfed for killers with very snowball abilities and buffed for m1 killers. Still niche, I don't see a problem.
Your Lightborn comment sounds like you were never blinded at a pallet and never tried I'm All Ears. Both the no blind and the aura reading is very good in this perk. Its very useful against many flashlights now.
Agreed on Tinkerer, I'm planning to combine it with Ruin, I think they will work very well.
Agreed that the auras suck, but it will 100% be fixed, we can even look at it as a bug currently.
Lobby lock isn't unfair at all no matter which way you look at it. The survivors can't see what killer you are, they can't bring items to intentionally counter you. This change is essential for each killer to get their own mmr.
-
300 seconds is 5 minutes dude. All generators take around 3 minutes to complete when 3 people constantly work on them. You need to understand the game better before coming up with these, this is just fundamentally wrong. Why turn DS, the only tunneling band-aid in the game, to a perk that could allow people who looped the killer for 5 gens to loop him for longer, which is I'm assuming what you were going for.
-
I would say the big thing with Discordance isn't the notification itself, but the fact that it makes killers pressure people off gens more than chasing random survivors, which is how you are supposed to play the game. +1 I love the perk.
-
@FreakPrince said:
We literally can’t see auras anymore, the game is reaching 15 FPS on console, why can’t you ######### fix your goddamn game????
I am seriously done with this game. The devs clearly don’t play this game and don’t give a ######### about console players.
None of these problems were in the PTB. The problems that were in PTB like some Bubba addons and the whole Billy change was nearly completely fixed, so it did its job more than enough. Of course the game will have bugs and problems after the update, that's why we have hotfixes. If you are turning to "Im done with this game" comments and shaming devs over some bugs, I will be more than happy to see you leave this community.
-
I mean duh, even this is pretty dangerous for a survivor since they will be severely punished for looping a killer for longer. Unless you go down in less than around 30 seconds after the first hit and get saved pretty quickly you basically lose the item instantly. You can get downed in a few seconds and your teammates might not save you for around a minute, you still lose the item. Everything may go super fast and killer might choose to slug you after you get unhooked, you already know what happens to the item.
-

After just seeing 3 teammates get downed by a oni boosting smacking down a survivor everyone screams he boosts over downs that survivor and the 3rd one screams and he boosts over and downs them i kinda question this perk. I mean we have surge over here which requires a basic attack and has a cooldown yet all it does is blow up a few gens? Infectious on instadowns makes so much snowball its ridiculous (and this is someone who runs it on hillbilly myself saying this) but thats just my opinion.
I like it myself. I faced snowballing Nurses, Onis (Onie? Oni's? Oni'?) and Billys with it and didn't have much problem myself. My teams go down in seconds but its nothing new. To be honest limiting it to M1's would destroy the perk since nearly no M1 killer except Nurse and Plague would get enough value out of it.

dc penalties ARE in fact disabled due to some dbags you know hacking through the windows store causing people to be dcd and get penalized through no fault of their own
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why we can't have nice things.
-
The problem isn't how they look, its how hard they are to see. Try looking for your traps as a Trapper, or looking at anything in Ormond. I like the new style but it needs to be much brighter and a colorblind option is long overdue.
-
It was needed years ago against hackers, not really needed now. Would be nice but I doubt it will be removed, BHVR rarely does this kind of QoL changes.
-
Instead they are planning to add bots that will replace the survivors that DC. Also I believe DC penalties are inactive right now, I may be wrong though.
-
I would recommend the steering addons but yeah, console. You could play with the stealth addons or just use the recovery addons for simple value. Overheat addons are pretty useless since he doesn't really need them at all. His addons are a play style definer right now, so instead of choosing them to give you plain bonuses, try choosing ones that benefit your play style. Since he doesn't really need addons as much as other killers, I don't think this is much of a problem.
