I got a good reason for this. Dead hard literally breaks the physics. It's impossible two objects be in the same place, so why and how huntress hatchets do this? I mean what is physics on this game.
Survivor: jump of the 3th floor
Legs: I am fine
Nice one lol. You got me there for a second with the title.

Hitboxes. Currently getting hit as a survivor from like 4 meters is one of the most frustrating things in this game. I know the reason behind that is the lag fixing and killers having ping combined. Its the same thing as getting shot right after getting in cover in an FPS game. Fixing or at least smoothing that would be my priority.

DS would justify tunneling because there is a hard counter to it
So you are saying DS has a hard counter so its not good enough to stop tunneling? If so whats that hard counter? I cant exactly see your point.

Hey, atm i like to play killer. My Main is spirit and iam Rank 10 atm. But every game it is red rank survivors and its too difficult for me. Brown and yellow ranks are too easy but i cant get survivors similar to my Rank like green and purple... thats a big reasons why this game is unfun for me. Now i dc until rank 15 so i get lower ranks destroying the fun for many other ppl coz waiting for a game for survivors on ps4 takes quiet the Time. I will also face yellow rank and brown rank survivors who will get destroyed by me but at least i can win. I hope they will change sth its just stupid how it is right now..
Devs said there was a known issue with the game reading killers rank wrong in matchmaking. So this issue may be resolved with the next patch.

Did you see the Tru3 video? Survivors can't even do gens when ruin is active
This is a bait but I should state this for people who wont do the research. You can watch Tru3's other games from his twitch and in at least one of them he got dominated as Doctor using the Ruin+Surveillance combo. He also stated that Ruin should not be a hex anymore since the hex treatment is too much of a downside for its current state.

"DEVS CLAIM THAT..." is the key sentence
Uhh no? I never said I was quoting devs. How do you think new players who are still getting used to hitting normal skill checks feel when they face Ruin? They feel useless since they cant do anything but run around to find a totem while they have no idea where it could spawn. Ruin was too frustrating for new players, but again it should have been compensated for high ranks.
-
Your argument doesnt make sense. You are saying that Ruin is a problem for new players, but it shouldnt be fixed because there are other problems? Ruin change is good for new players, the problem is that there isnt anything to compensate it for high ranks.

But it's not getting changed, so does DS justify tunneling?
How would DS justify tunneling exactly? Survivors are the players who suffer from tunneling, so without DS there wouldnt be any reason for a killer not to tunnel. DS doesnt justify tunneling, it punishes it.
DS currently is important for discouraging killers to tunnel, but it does this in a poor way that punishes non tunneling killers time to time. If DS is gonna get changed again this should be kept in mind.

And what are you supposed to do? Let the killer hook you for free? Don't missunderstand me, I understand your point but we all try to win, if a killer abuses that I was locked in a position without moving. Wouldn't that be bannable as well?
If you are bugged as a survivor the killer has nothing to do about that. He can help you but that would cost him precious time, so his and your best best is for him to hook you.
I accept I misjudged the main post. In a case like that the survivor doesnt have many options either and since this one let you kill him, I dont believe he is guilty at all if this was actually a bug. So yeah you are correct about that, sorry.

if you balance the game around skilled players. being minority or not doesnt matter. because all players will then become more skilled.
the game MUST be balanced around that minority, to eventually push the rest of the players into the same category if they get good enough.
one big problem is that the game has a lot of casual players, so imo there should be a separated mode for casual players and competitive players. have 2 gamemodes, one casual for people to learn how to play or just have fun casually and one ranked for those who like to tryhard and do good everygame. and things will work just fine, like they do on most other games (to an extent)
if queues ever become too long, they can just fix it with special rewards and stuff like all other games do. the playerbase isnt even that small to begin with,
btw im not spefically refering to you when i say people should learn to loop and stuff. since i dont even know what level of skill do you have, im just talking in general.
A casual mode sounds like it would work well. I usually dont like that idea because of the already long queue times but your argument sounds good. To be honest, every single reply I got in this post is about the Ranking system so either a new mode or a ranking change seems to be what everyone wants right now.
Im still up for a better tutorial though, I dont think having to google to learn stuff like Exposed meaning you get one shot is good for anyone at all. That and all the other stuff I said in the post.

The numbers can be tweaked ofcourse if 90 sec is too low
Devour and lullaby would be useless after cleansed in the midgame but wouldn't be completly wasted perks when cleansed early
Russian roulette was only really powerfull with old spirit who could grab people of without a hint
There could be an audio queue when a hex comes back and maybe a popup for all survivors to know what hex perk got cleansed
I didnt phrase that well, Huntress and Devour would basically be the same but have the MoM treatment. Gets reactivated after cleansing, cool on paper but mostly useless at that point. So they are in good shape.
Thrill and Haunted wouldnt fit in with this change, those 2 would need changes aswell.
Also Spirit russian roulette is currently not overpowered but still good. You dont get grabs but free hits and usually quick downs. After a couple totems pop it gets pretty weak but a change like this would make it overpowered with most killers. A Thrill change may fix this though.
Like I said, I doubt BHVR would do a change like this since now Ruin is gone, less people will complain about the totems. Good idea overall though.

Ding ding ding, we have a Wraith in the house. Under no circumstances should this game be impossible for killer, but it is. By balancing around the fun of inexperienced idiots, you're handing a loaded gun to experienced bullies, which makes the game as fun as a colonoscopy if you're killer.
Yes, exactly my point. The reason is because the inexperienced people are the majority. If more people become knowledgeable then the devs can balance around the experienced players.
@TheNasky said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/978400#Comment_978400
yeah, most games it takes you on average 30 seconds to find the survivors when you spawn. and the first gen usually pops before you even SEE a survivor for the first time if they know what they are doing.
it doesnt matter if the gen pops and lets the killer know where everyone is, because survivors just start running and hiding so by the time the killer gets there they are already gone. forcing you to chase whoever you find first. and ofc while chasing that person usually the second gen pops.
it doesnt matter if bad players are the majority. they just gotta get good, no matter how many of them are there. if devs keep balancing the game based on bad players. it will always get boring or frustrating really quickly.
i dont really give an f about the ranking system. i just want good players be able to win, if they are better. wich right now is not happening, you can watch pros like otz and truetalent, loose many games just because the game is too survivor sided.
you just need to listen to any good player, and the first thing they will say is that games are too short, and often leave the killer no counterplay and thats not fun for anyone. besides maybe noobs who want to feel good by getting a red rank easily.
you wonder how can you avoid getting hit? there is something called looping and something called pallets as well as something called jukes.
to prevent a killer from tunneling, simply dont get hit in the first place. avoid getting hit even once. and you win. i know it can be really hard, but it is still doable specially against bad killers.
and you can just take a look on youtube where you can see players like noob3 doing it consistently
You are suggesting me to learn how to loop and Im suggesting to teach that to everyone.
The game cant be balanced around experienced people if those people are minority. Get more peoples to loop like Noob3, Monto, Tru3 etc then we can balance killers against a SWF with 4 Noob3. A better tutorial would be a good start for this.
And I did tell you, pallets arent an enough counter play to tunneling if you are the only one who knows how to loop in your team. In a group with pallet campers, most of them will be used by the time you get chased.
-
@JC316 said:
The mere fact that ANY survivor, I don't care if it's noob3 himself, can run a killer for 3-4 gens tells you how screwed to hell this game really is. That shouldn't be possible and is unacceptable.
That is if you have no gen pressure. The gens are currently survivor favoured but if you just tunnel one person all game, you are at fault for not having any pressure.
If all 4 survivors are perfect at looping, then the game does become near impossible for the killer. Result of the game being balanced around less skilled people.
-
@TheNasky said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/978284#Comment_978284
no its not. balancing the game is easy. you just have to ignore the whiny rank 15s who cant get good at the game.
look at a game like league of legends. wich is 1000 times more complex than dbd. a game that has skilllevels range from iron 4 (people who are physically/mentaly handicapped or have bad a bad pc/internet) to challenger players (literal prodigys/people who are 1 of a kind/ drug abusers)
now, how is it that a game like that can be balanced and a simple game like dbd cant? easy...
its because devs keep listening to shi1ty players who cant even do skillchecks.
if you are not good at the game, you dont have the right to an opinion when it comes to balance, it is a simple as that. if you think something is too hard just get good. there is no other way to put it. because what devs do by balancing the game aroudn noobs. is making it so everyone who is not bad becomes overpowered, or loses all possible skill expression leading to them losing the game no matter how good they are.
just look at youtubers/streamers who are really good at the game. like literall professionals, yet they still lose a lot of games, just because the ammount of bs killers have to go through is unbearable. because in the end, if you get tunneled as a survivor, you at least could have counterplayed that by not getting hit. wich even tho it could be hard. you can at least do it if you are good enough. on the other hand. if as a killer you lose 5 gens by the time you hooked someone once. what are you supposed to do?
you just lose and thats it. at least you have a chance to facecamp so you keep 1 kill as a consolation price. really nice huh...
Well we are mostly talking about the same problem, the game is being balanced around the worse players. The reason behind that is because those people are the vast majority. Yes, a good ranking is needed but it wouldnt fix much if the game is still being balanced towards experienced killers facing bad survivors. Teaching people is my suggestion towards this but I definetly agree that ranks need fixing too.
I dont agree with that survivor statement though. "Not getting hit" is not a counter play, its the result. How are you not gonna get hit if the killer is tunneling you? That would be the counter play. Right now we get DS, DH etc used a lot because having all the pallets around being used by inexperienced teammates is pretty common.
@TheNasky said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/978203#Comment_978203
the problem is not that killers are bad. the BIG problem is that killers have to go through a lot of bs to even play the game.
playing killer is harder by nature. but thats not the only issue. the problem is the game is rigged in survivors favour in many aspects.
why is it possible for survivors to do 1/5 of their main objective in less than 30 seconds without letting the killer player do anything? like, by the time the killer reaches the gen, its already done, literally 0 possible counterplay.
also, did you know, that by disconnecting or by simply dying too fast, survivors can force a killer into a black pip? like, ######### is that bs. today i had a game at rank 8 (so not even that high) where i killed 1 survivor, he disconnected, then i killed another survivor, instadied on hook. killed another survivor, instadied on hook to give the last one the hatch. and boom. i automatically got a black pip in 3-4 minutes, just because i killed 3 people "too fast" because they unironically killed themselves. now, WHY is it even allowed for survivors to do this?
Well gen speeds do need balancing but if the whole team is on a gen and the killer took 30sec to find that gen, then thats the killer not in a chase for 30 sec and only 1 gen being popped with the killer learning where everyone is. Would be much worse if everyone was in a different gen.
Agreed on the ranking problem, ranks need fixing aswell but my suggestion is aside from that.
-
Perks that require tokens like Huntress Lullaby and Devour Hope would be useless after the being cleansed mid game once anyways.
Third Seal and the new Ruin could benefit from a change like this.
and Thrill of the Hunt would become overpowered in a Russian Roulette build.
Overall, would need additional changes to some hex perks so I doubt BHVR would spend time on it. Also 90 seconds is pretty low for being immobile in a location which the killer knows for 20 seconds.
EDIT: Oh yeah, Haunted Grounds. I dont even know how that would play out.
-
@TheNasky said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/978256#Comment_978256
not dying in 10 seconds means you actually have to survive 15 to 30 seconds of chase wich is still really really easy.
15 seconds chases can be done by just running in a single direction after getting hit, which isnt at all enough in red ranks but I still see many red ranks die in shorter amount of times after the first hit.

that is true that bad killers are boosting bad survs, and bad survs are boosting bad killers
and thats rank system fault
but most of the time killers are boosted by perks like ruin and noed (well now braindead ruin is dead) and survs are boosted because of SWF AND because when they do 1 gen, do 1 safe unhook and heal, dont die in 10sec (or wont be found too fast) they will rank up at least to purple ranks
Yeah ranking system is currently in a bad shape. My topic wouldnt change it properly but I believe it would benefit ranking aswell as making the game less frustrating overall.

@TheNasky said:
the problem is playing survivor is way too forgiving both gameplay wise and rankwise, wich leads to red ranks survivors being pretty bad.
this then leads to below average killer players ranking up, because people literally run into them.
im currently rank 8 killer with 56hours played (and like 10 afking on the menu) and most of my matches are garbage. when im up against solo survivors i kill them all before they do 2 or 3 gens. usually only one of the four survivors knows how to properly loop and the rest just run into me or make dumb mystakes.
the problem is, the rest of the matches im facing SWF and i lose at least 2 or 3 generators before i can even hook someone. and its not that im bad at chasing, its just the fact that by the time i find someone its probably been 15-30 seconds. and the first gen is gone in 25. so not much i could do there. by the time im done chasing the first surv. if im lucky its been a minute and i only lost 2.
and the worst games i had is when i kill 1 survivor, and he disconnects before i can hook them. then when i kill the second survivor, he instadies in the hook denying me a lot of points. wich then forces me to spend 15 minutes, toying with the last 2, because otherwise i black pip FOR NO ######### REASON. literally. why the ######### are survivors able to instadie on hook, and force me to black pip by doing that? uh? thats the biggest bullshit i have ever seen.
This is the result of this problem in my opinion. The game cant be balanced around good survivors and SWF because of the mass amount of survivors who are the reverse. Teach everyone how to play well, then balance around that and then the game would feel less frustrating since more people can rely on skill instead of constant getaway perks.
Btw I play both roles with survivor being more often, so Im not biased in either sides, at least I hope.

@Galklife said:
real problem is ranking system and pipping
new players are ranking up too fast, its way too easy to rank up (especially as surv) because long time ago there was much more killers at red ranks than survs, so they kept making pipping as surv easier and easier (and swf change killed red rank lobbies with that too)
100h surv in red rank isnt as uncommon these days, and rank reset nerf is last nail in the coffin
tutorials need rework but i guess devs cant make AI that would've helped
i like how killers are crying "they are boolied" but when baby survivor is dying in 10sec its normal :)
@[Deleted User] said:
Ranking and matchmaking, and not having enough people to make said things stricter/tighter are the biggest issues. If I went against people my skill level it probably wouldn't be so bad.
I mean they may as well just auto skip you from rank 8 to 2 as a killer atm, because you only get red rank survivors, all it excludes is rank 1 for you.
Not exactly true about ranking. Ranking works in the skill range of the playerbase. If everyone is unskilled, the red ranks will be too. If everyone was very skilled, we would still have green ranks and lower. There are a lot of not so great survivors in red ranks because there are not so great killers too. If more killers were better at the game, worse survivors would drop down in ranks and vice versa.

-
Even if it was a bug, abusing it for unfair advantage is bannable. In a situation like that, your best bet is to record it and gather proof on his steam profile to report him.
There are hackers in every game and speaking from experience DbD is very good at preventing hacks, so it may actually have been a bug but then again, that also is an offence.

You have a point, BHVR does have the track record of not fixing problems before updates go live. But I am still expecting them to make changes with all thats happening.

I doubt that unless Ruin gets a buff. It synergies with Surveillance much like how Surge does. Only differences are that Ruin is MUCH better at it but also a Hex perk. It shouldnt really be a hex perk but currently no reason to remove the synergy with Surveillance.
-
Can we not come to conclusions not even a day after PTB is released? They said the Ruin was fine and not gonna have a change a few hours after PTB was live, so they were mostly based on their internal testing and the complaints in the forums was something that always happened after meta perks like DS had gotten nerfed anyways.
Now that they saw the actual outrage, when the PTB shows how the killer performance actually is with the Ruin changes, they can balance it accordingly. If its something different than the tests they have done, and it will most likely be, they will likely do something about it.

I love how crap like the oni flick is fixed instantly, but game breaking crap like bugged lunges, bugged sound, and bugged matchmaking gets fixed at the mid chapter. I honestly don't think the matchmaking is a bug, I think they don't have killers playing any more.
The current system is supposed to have a hard cap on rank differences, so even if killers were scarce you still would only match, if I remember correctly, at worst with one with 6 more or less ranks than you.
If what they said about the matchmaking bug is correct, it would explain both survivors having 7+ rank differences than the killer and the game trying to get rank 8 survivors to face a rank 14 killer like in this case, since game may be seeing the killer as a rank 8.
Also, the devs said the reason they cant fix the bug earlier is the holidays. About the Oni, well they have to put a lot more resources on the new content than fixing old content since they only have limited amount of people.
-
I feel you as a fellow red rank survivor. I usually laugh off when killer DCs mid-game but it does get annoying with challenges.
The teammate part though, I know from personal experience that its way too easy to get to high purple ranks and not that difficult to advance in reds. You can get to it before mastering looping or learning the maps.
Well now I am kinda complaining about the ranks, but that is something I always do. Good luck with your challenges o/

Hm. I haven't had this much fun with a killer since Huntress. The flick change killed him for me.
Yeah it killed him for a lot of people. He is really incompetent in loops right now. Devs said something about making his flick more usable and effective without changing the current angle limit. Im not sure how he will be changed but we should hopefully see that roll out in the next update.
-
There is currently a lose-lose situation with the current matchmaking system. If they reduce the rank differences between people, the already long queue times would get much longer. And in the current condition we are having matches like this one.
Devs said that the 8-10 rank differences are due to a bug where the game is getting wrong information about the killers rank and they are going to fix it after the holidays. It should hopefully make it at least somewhat better.

Since when is Lery's killer sided????? It CAN be but by no means is it by default; it's simply not a total stomp for survivors since they fixed the window spawns earlier in the year.
I'm only sad they're doing Lery's because we all thought it would be Haddonfield, which is in desperate need of changes while having potential for interesting loops and mindgames with its unique style. I mean, it's literally the map that caused Balanced Landing to be a pointless slot use for survivors.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/957052#Comment_957052
Most killers do when charging their powers in fairness; overall it's still much better than previously, imo, and some of the new add-on variations sound to be much more annoying to play against/potentially stronger, imo. Especially the chaining one. We'll see how it goes, though, since we don't have full details ;)
Lery's had the 3rd highest killer kill-rate (64%) out of all maps. You can see it in November Stats. It is also one of the smallest maps but the statistics are enough proof on their own.

I'm not wasting a perk slot so I can feel safer in one or two spots on the map.
In some maps its a couple more areas, but they are reusable each chase so those spots could get you out of tricky situations or let you prolong a chase without the use of an additional pallet. Lithe does this too but even without Lithe windows are loopable, which is not the case with BL.
Also in some maps like Haddonfield and Hawkins, its litterally usable everywhere. There are some maps with nearly no places for BL though, so I can see your point.
@doitagain_ said:
Lithe is perfect as is and is one of the last perks that needs a buff right now. Removal of the chase requirement was the only change it needed.
Its not perfect, it lacks loop capability which is why its not being used in most high rank games. I agree that its not a priority though. This is more of a discussion about how it can be improved rather than a rant to the devs.
-
@Thomasthetrain said:
Lithe is my favourite exhaustion perk since it's basically sprint burst,but you can choose when to activate it.
It's also easier to trigger than BL since Windows are more common than high places.
The majority of generators are near a safe window making it very easy to distance yourself from the killer.
I don't think it needs buffs.
@PistolTimb said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/957001#Comment_957001
Lithe is more like Sprint burst in that you use it to gain distance and reposition yourself. Not really a looping tool, unless you're at an unsafe pallet like someone else mentioned. There are far more survivor perks deserving of buffs than an exhaustion perk.
Agreed that its a good perk to get distance. I'm suggesting a change to make it also viable in looping like other exhaustion perks. Lithe is currently nearly non-existant in around red ranks as far as Im seeing.

BL is a stealth perk. It has very little more use than Lithe in chase and is much more situational.
BL can be a really good looping perk too. Its way too dependent on the map as a trade off. Windows are normally survivor favoured, you can use them in a chase no matter what. Fall downs though, are heavily killer favoured. Using BL lets you use a dropdown each chase in your favour in addition to everything else. I can defend it from experience and from more experienced people I watch on Youtube.

Honestly I thought Lithe was already pretty strong. This change would be nice to see though.
It is strong on paper. On practice tho, it doesn't help with looping as much as other exhaustion perks.
Sprint Burst basically lets you get to a pallet from wherever you are.
Balanced Landing makes the otherwise killer favoured dropdowns survivor favoured so you get more options in a chase.
Dead Hard is Dead Hard. It can be as useful as a new health state or good enough to get that little bit of distance to reach that pallet.
Head On... well its more fun that meta.
Lithe currently only works in some scenerios like getting away from an unsafe pallet. Its pretty situational compared to other exhaustion perks.

I find lithe to be good on pallets that are complete garbage
Yeah, its sometimes a life saver. Still situational though.

Doctor is not getting a full rework. He's power will do the exactly same thing just like how nurse power does the same thing. Yes, their base is changed a little but generally their power has the same goal.
Freddy power is nothing like Old Freddy. So Nurse map by your words should've been changed.

Like I said above, doctor isn't getting a full rework he's power will do same thing generally. With slight tweaks like nurse

A rework to his base kit would be a "rework" and even then it's just one aspect of his base kit that stills has the same intention and goal which is to increase a survivor madness with your terror radius (size).
Its more of a change then a rework. But I get what your saying though.
Nurse only got a cooldown to her ability with the changes, yes it did considerably changed her power tier but it was technically a QoL change more than a rework.
Doctor is getting his Static Field removed, getting a new TR shock ability and most likely more stuff aswell. BHVR said they won't give much detail about it yet. He is also getting his 2 modes combined but I won't defend that as a change, its more of a QoL too.
Also unlike Nurse and like Freddy, Doc changes will have its own mid chapter.
I didn't mention addon changes since both killers are having/had it anyways.

Nurse only got a cooldown on her ability with the changes. She didn't get any new abilities or any changes to her existing ability (You can count the cooldown as a change but I'm not since it just makes you wait between blinks so I'm counting it as just an anti-QoL).
Doctor is losing his static field and getting a whole new ability that shocks his TR. He is also getting his 2 modes combines but you can count this as just a QoL aswell. He most likely has more coming with him too since BHVR said they won't give much details yet and these are just a sneak peak.
In addition to that, Nurse rework/tweak was implemented as a part of another mid chapter while Freddy and Doc are getting their own mid chapters dedicated to them.
I excluded the addon changes since both of them have it.

So what about the nurse "rework" why didn't they change her map
Fair point but Nurse didn't really get a rework, her abilities and addons got tweaked. Freddy and Doctor are getting full on reworks.
I can't speak on the behalf of BHVR though, I'm just typing my observations here

Happy new year mate!
So from what they said they will make Doctor more interactive to play against by reworking his static field and more fluent by removing the swapping. I'm all okay with both these changes.
Also if we remember how one of the worst killers Freddy dominated the kill-rate charts right after his rework, I cant see how this can go wrong in any way! /s
