You can turn off messages, you can't turn off end game chat.

I have messages off so I don't have to see the negativity that is so common because people are sore winners/losers. I hope it doesn't come to consoles because I don't want those people to get a free easy work around to be jerks. If the Devs decide to add it with cross play I hope they give an option to disable it so I can continue to avoid the toxicity.

This is true but but you can do the same on pc and it's still incorporated

And it's VERY easy to ignore egc and leave after the match as well, people can message you privately if after you leave the match but they cant annoy you afterwards with egc and you're not forced to see it. Your preference is completely valid but I do think that the convenience and positivity that would come out of it trumps the harm it could bring because it is so easily avoidable

Well there's a difference between slavery terrorist attacks and someone being gay

No no now this is what you said word for word

"Anything can be joked about. That's the rule of comedy"

Now if the issue is that you don't want to be banned for it I'm completly up for giving you my social media so you can share :)

And just because the harm is to a lesser extent does not make it okay. It wasn't just about "someone being gay" and the fact that that's all it is in your eyes says a lot about how little you understand about struggles in the gay community that you joke about.

I think the biggest point of this is it's so easy to make actual good jokes for one that aren't about serious issues and struggles but you'll still 'joke' about it anyway

  • @ShadowRain said:

Most likely gonna come with crossplay

Hopefully but I'd still like to know why it hasn't been added yet, I'm not mad because with everything else except ptb's we're on par with pc (update and feature wise I mean), it's just a bit disappointing

  • Okay then as an Irish person to an Irish person, I dare you to joke about the Magdaline laundries and the Tuam baby scandal :)

Or maybe the omagh bombing :))

  • Okay but listen

You're defending your stance as LGBTQ shouldn't be used as a marketing scheme etc etc so therefore no character should be made LGBTQ...

If that's true and you care so much about the preservation integrity of the LGBTQ community rather than the community being used as a moneymaking ploy then shouldn't you let the opinions and desires of the LGBTQ community be king in the decider whether there should or shouldn't rather than speaking for them on why they shouldn't get represented? And I'm just clarifying, I am only making this point solely based off all of your replied and self defensive points so far.

I would love some LGBTQ content and I can't see any issues with current characters being LGBTQ as long as it

    A) Does not conflict with any existing lore

    B) Does not become a main focus of their character and I mean this in the way of a lot of their lore revolves around it. I am so tired of LGBTQ characters being made as if LGBTQ is their whole personality, is the only aspect of their lives. I actually don't want relationships IN GENERAL to ever be a big focus in the characters.

  • I agree it's stressful for a lot of reasons. I really want to get good at killer but it's so hard to get good experience when I'm always matched against purple and red ranks when I'm barely gold rank so it's very disheartening.

I understand that matchmaking is the core issue being worked on right now so i don't want to complain to much about it since it's been acknowledged and is being addressed but in the wait for it it really makes the killer experience very unenjoyable

  • @Loner said:

I was confused about this myself always. Even if someone would trash talk in end game chat, would it really make any difference than someone sending a msg to you over ps4 normally? Don't think so. Adding an end game chat would probably help people more, than add more negativity considering people can just do that over ps4 normally anyway with msgs.

Exactly, and it's not like you're forced to even interact with the endgame chat, you can just ignore it completely by clicking leave. I would love for this to be addressed by a dev or someone who knows why.

Hopefully they add it along with crossplay when conole can play with pc but I don't understand why it was held off on for so long

But if you balance the game around voice chats, what about different languages? This obviously does not apply for the US, but here in Europe we have a shitload of languages. And not everyone can speak English.

Also, if I am playing with an Italian 3 man SWF, why should they use the ingame Voice Chat? And even if they would do, why should they include me and not just talk in Italian? So myself, as the Solo Survivor, would have no access to Voice Communication, despite being balanced around that.

Let alone that not everyone wants to talk to Strangers.

I'm in Europe so I'm well aware. I don't know what you mean with balancing around it, the idea isn't to balance swf in a lobby with a solo it's more for 4 solos in mind. A swf will of course always use another form of voice chat over a limited proximity chat so it'd be the same as just a normal game right now of a 3 man and a solo. It doesn't make sense to just completly disregard a feature though just because of this sole situation?

And for the last part I literally just said, at the very start, that it would be optional, so yeah not everyone wants to, I acknowedge that, no one would be forced to, it would be an opt in feature and just opt out if you don't want to use it.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Because nobody wants to listen to 14yr olds with 5 Dollar Microphones who are blabbering in their fantasy language?

Or, simple answer - because Discord exists. SWFs would use Discord (or similar programms) so no need for Voice Chat.

Also: Some people want to have an immersive experience. You need to keep those people in mind as well.

Okay but obviously there would be a way to disable it, I don't understand why everyone's first arguement is its not fair to people who dont want to use it as if its a feature youd be unconditionally forced to use.

I made a discussion about this a while ago and I think in theory it's a good idea but only in a small proximity form and there is an issue with a lot of the community who would use it being toxic and childish

Agree x100 with plague tbh, her and wraith are top two for killers, clown close after.

A tome with Yui+Jake (no reason for Jake, I don't really like his lore but I'd like to know more about him as a character) and Wraith+Plague would be the DREAM

Zarina has the most potential for interesting stories I think but I'm just not that invested in her, would still be very happy with a Yui×Zarina instead of Jake though

HIllbilly, although there may not be much to tell about his childhood, his story must be pretty brutal.

Forgot about hillbilly! His lore could actually be the most heartbreaking since he was abused for so long at such a long age through absolutely no fault of his own. Like what if they contrast his before with being super gentle and loving animals, how am I supposed to play against him then???

Yeah as you get better at the game you'll find yourself moving on to more meta perks that synergize together really well. But regardless sloppy butcher and Bloodhound always make a great combo!

Definitely! I only have Wraith leveled so far so theyre actually about the best I have available to me, along wuth bitter murmur and iron grasp but I don't feel a HUGE disadvantage yet since I'm still low rank. Would love to get nurses on him soon (I know it's in shrine but since I have her I don't want to waste the shards haha)

True. But given my history with that poster, that "innocent question" was almost certainly going to be a prelude to, "A-ha, I found something that I think is an inconsistency, you lying killer scum!" 😂

If it was anyone else I probably would have just answered, honestly.

That's fair enough I suppose. I see you around here and even in twitch chats often and I didn't think you spoke that way usually so I was just surprised.

Honestly I think it's more effective to completly ignore people you don't get on with if you know they're trying to aggravate you, the only thing they achieve is wasting their own time

  • @SweetTerror said:

For me it's sloppy butcher and bloodhound. You can hide scratch marks all you like, but there's no hiding that blood! And sloppy butcher ensures that there's a nice long bright trail leading the killer to your hiding spot!

I love love love this combination as killer!! I'm not very good at chases yet still so it's such a huge help for me

On survivor I like detectives hunch and inner strength, I loved the idea of tenacity and unbreakable but I find killers don't slug much and as soon as they see tenacity they will never ever slug you

Of course it's you rushing to the defense of the survivors.

"But no, you MUST have done bad things, you're the killer!" 🤣

...they literally...never rushed to any defense though?

Like this person just asked for clarity in a polite way, told you why they were confused and you not only respond jeering with a bad attitude but don't clear up what the questions they asked?

Not everything is a personal attack, you can reply to people in civilised manner when they are literally talking to you in that way.

    Anyone else curious?

Tbh I really hope it's not focused on for another few years.

I would LOVE to see dbd on ps5 some day but right now there is still a lot to focus on on its current platforms and it would make more sense anyway to wait until the ps5 has a wider player base after 2 years or so to release it.

    Hopefully someday though!

I want to get better at survivor. I've played a lot of killer in the past year or so and I'm happy where I am there, but I still go full potato when playing survivor. I know what I should be doing, but it's like there's a disconnect between my brain and my hands.

Brain says: Go to that corner and watch for the killer.

Hands say: Go to that corner and wait for the killer to be within sneezing range, got it.

I do the same with overestimating how close a killer can get before they hit me, especially when I have sprint burst

  • Completely agree, I hate using ds and adrenaline so much because they're so boring and with both it's hit or miss if they actually help you so you could end up wasting slots, I still run ds a lot though because a lot when I don't I get proper tunnelled (like straight off hook tunnelled) and when queues are so long its not worth it. I do love UB though because even though I can barely use it it's so satisfying and can save a game when it does work

Can relate on a spiritual level with the mindgame cringe. Have tried to fake breaking a pallet only to have th survivor keep standing on the other side completly unconvinced more times than I'd like to admit 😂

  • @MegaWaffle said:

As killer I really need to spend more time playing 1 or 2.

I tend to get bored easily and switch killers almost every match. For this reason (while I'll toot my horn and say I am a good killer) I do not learn the little niche things each has to offer and lose out on becoming optimal.

As survivor I simply need to spend more time learning maps.

Because I play solo I have no problem pushing gens and escaping (selfishly) but knowing tiles/loops on maps is something I need to improve. While I can put up a decent chase I often have no plan as to where I should be running and just hope I'm heading somewhere with a pallet/vault.

That last paragraph is exactly me hahaha, when I watch streamers play and see them comment about certain windows being up or pallets placings in certain maps it always reminds me of how much I still bave to learn about the game

Mad Grit is fun and i seen it screw over a team once, for they had no idea the killer had it. Leading to everyone being injured due to trying to bodyblock the hook, in return for no real gain.

For the chase one I guess for example I ahd a match earlier with 3 dark cosmetic claudettes in yamaoka estate and I found it so hard to keep track of them, I feel like a lot of that might just be because I'm not great at killer yet though haha

When the match starts each traps key is placed in a specific box, but that 1 box can contain multiple keys. So what the op said isnt correct according to the stuff ive seen anyway.

They really need to look into this. Ive seen people working on gens with activated traps without a care in the world and still get the trqps off.

Oh okay I didn't know that part. I agree though I think they need to make some sort of adjustment to improve pigs traps, I don't think a pig should ever have to worry about someone who has an activated trap on but there's so little lethality to them without good addons that that's not the case

  • Imagine getting MoM to finally trigger and it gets wasted in that situation though 😂

Survivor for sure, I’m not terrible but I do make mistakes...a lot of mistakes. I’ll look behind me too much sometimes, I over judge loops, I don’t find pallets when being chased and other stuffs.

I run into deadzones with no pallets or windows more than I should as well or I'll look behind me and accidentally run into an obstacle

  • For doctor, if someone has bt and you hit them so they have to mend, try and get them into madness tier 3. They'll bave to snap out of tier 3 before they can mend but they have to stand still to snap out which means the mend timer will continue to count down which can catch some survivors out.

    ...Within a certain radius.

I'm also fairly certain the Pig thing isn't accurate.

I think the pig thing is, I can't remember who but someone did look into it and found it's not rng based but there's a key to every box, unless you mean in another way

  • Detrctives hunch, I love pairing it with inner strength and its so so satisfying preventing a noed. I'm also terrible at finding gens in indoor maps so I love it a lot for that too.

On killer bloodhound. I know as a veteran killer it may be a waste but as someone who's relatively knew to killer it's such a huge help to me so I can keep track of survivors in a chase, especially claudettes and in corn fields

  • @EmpireWinner said:

See how your teammates play around when someone is in hook.

Even though its so unreliable I think that this and the observing teammates actions tip are the only way you can kind of decide for yourself if another person has it or not.

You bring up a very good point though, even though it's only a small issue in the grand scheme of things it would be so easy to fix by just putting another icon or a different coloured icon on screen to differentiate the two.

Same with prove thyself even, if two survivors have it then it makes more sense for the group to split into pairs with one PT each and work on seperate gens but the two people who have it can't tell easily if that's the case

Autodidact is amazing ngl fun it in every build without putting perks around it.

It is so good when it works but in most matches you either don't get enough heals or the skill checks are so few and far between that it doesn't get a chance. It could be given such a big boost by making just the small difference of increasing the chance of triggering a skillcheck by using it

  • @Dolls said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1341112#Comment_1341112

Yeah..thats the problem to decide how much is enough. Maybe what % of the time of the match were you actively helping? Like gens, chases, unhooks, totems..they could all add % or something....I dont know.

I just find it annoying when I see endgame and someone with small points gets hatch. Its annoying towards team and annoying towards killers hard work..

So annoying, I have a clip saved actually of a team mate hatch camping as the last teammate tries to do a gen around 15m away, wouldn't budge to help them, just waited until they were caught, let them die even though they weren't dead on hook and hopped in hatch straight away, very frustrating to watch

  • @NinjaDette1 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1341072#Comment_1341072

Wouldn’t it just be keeping the game hostage though? If the survivor isn’t able to open either gate.Due to the killer guarding both and then the survivor is also denied a hatch escape for not helping the team as much.If such thing was implemented into the game I mean especially on maps where both gates are on the same wall.

Not really, killer is doing their job, survivor isn't but either way egc had started once hatch closes and the match won't go on forever.

I don't think this is a bad idea, it would definitely prevent hatch camping when there's 2 survivors left but at the same time how do you decide a point threshold. What if you were only doing objective and your teammates ran killer or farmed eachother off hook? You're still a big help to the team by at least trying to keep gens going buy you might not get many points for it at the same time

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1340805#Comment_1340805

That would've been something as well.

The thing is if a perk is highly situational like this one is, it needs to be an extremely strong effect to warrant how situational it is. "Most" the situational perks we have, including this one, are not strong enough to warrant how rarely they will be activating.

Most the devs will brush this off as well they aren't all suppose to be strong, they're just "fun". I feel like this is a cop-out as these are not mutually exclusive. We can have strong and fun perks at the same time.

They also like to misconstrue when we say "strong", as us wanting new meta perks. We don't want new meta perks, just strong "enough" to be worth considering running.

Completly agree with everything here. Take autodidact for example. It's effect when triggered can be so good but it is just so eccessively difficult to activate if when you're trying that you have to make an entire build around it almost (spine chill, empathy, etc) or it's not worth a slot.

Poised is another one to mention as well (I'm only focusing on survivor perks because I'm not super familira with all the killer ones).

  • Tbh I actually would've been okay with both affects being applied, maybe for a shorter duration though

I mean it's not often that people take protection hits, like 90% of the time it's very endgame trying to get to exit gate so what's the point in applying broken if you're just about to end the game. It could've been a nice counter to bt protection hits

  • Nope, their pinned comment says it was a mistake and its still broken effect applied

  • @Gamerpoop said:

I really think that mobile needs more content. Only has 5 maps, half killers and survivors, and less perks.

I think they'll all be worked on and added gradually, before that though I think they need to work on the ai and camera snapping.

I've had ai killers who got stuck patrolling a set route of 2 out of 3 last gens and never caught me even though I was very close/line of sight.

The survivor ai immediately leave once a gate opens which in theory seems okay until you're left on a hook, an ai teammate is literally 15metres from unhooking and as soon as egc starts they do a complete 180 and run all the way across the entire map again to leave through the open gates

I also have autolock on turned off but still my camera snaps to gens when I'm in a chase its so frustrating

also didn't know otz could tunnel down the whole team.

I was waiting for someone to use this video as an argument here.

A few bnp and 4 working on gens, yeah it happened, it sucks but how often does it happen in the grand scheme of this honestly? It doesn't make sense to 'balance' something around one extreme and rare instance. They've already addressed the gen issue a fair bit and adjusting speed specifically any more would make the survivor objective even more tedious and boring than it already is, especially towards endgame when there's so much more pressure with limited gens for killer to patrol and survivors usually being killed off.

If things were balanced around this sort of situation then I suppose we can start a thread calling for plague to be nerfed and use otz's recent game as a reference where he secured a 4k in 2 minutes and 15 seconds

This is actually true of any game, too. People can choose to be competitive and people can choose to play casually.

Want to play custom SC2 games with friends where you don't attack for 20 minutes? Sure, totally fine. Want to only play the CPU or campaign modes? Totally cool.

Want to only play SF5 but don't want to learn frame data or combos or anything else and just want to throw fireballs because it looks cool? Completely acceptable in the game design and you'll be ranked low enough to fight other casual players and maybe even have a lot of fun.

This could all be true in DbD as well, but the issue DbD has is a lack of functioning matchmaking. So people who want to be casual and people who want to be competitive end up in the same matches. Maybe the new system will fix this, who knows.

This is also very true and a really good point. I'm not really going to complain about matchmaking anymore because the issue has been acknowledged and is being completely overhauled so there's really no point (i know you're not complaining either btw, just stating the facts), though I do think we should be able to see ranks/mmr level in the new system rather than hide it like is planned.

I wouldn't consider myself very competitive, I like trying niche perk combos and synergies and I'd rather let myself die than a decent teammate but I've still ended up at rank 5 somehow just because I've been playing more over the past few weeks so a lot of the time I either have to bring perks like ds (which I actually really hate wasting a slot on because it's so boring) or I barely get a decent game

  • @Orion said:

I put this in a comment in my latest story thread, but I feel it deserves its own thread.

Yesterday I had three trials where survivors prevented my NOED outright. This happened to me for the first time a short while ago, which I thought was just a fluke, but yesterday it was a regular occurrence. If you're someone who does this, props to you. I wish all my teammates did the same thing.

Definitely in part due to the tome challenges but it is so satisfying as a survivor going to endgame screen and seeing you prevented it.

I had a match a few days ago against a legion who seemed kinda friendly, only really frenzied, never downed anyone but lately that's become a bit suspect, like they condition survivors to trust them and hit with noed at the end.

I just happened to be running small game and detectives hunch for the tome challenges though and when he did start m1ing after all gens were done and you could tell instantly he was expecting it to proc, especially when he hooked someone and bloodwarden activated

Sometimes I get gen rushed and the game is over quick but I’m just meh and queue up again. You’ll still black pip or even one pip if the team wasn’t crazy.

I have some fun, the chases I do get to do I end quickly because of Bamboozle, enduring or whatever else I run.

Yeah, even if it means not winning consistently it's so fun to try out different themed builds! When you've been playing the game for a while it almost makes more sense as well because what's the point of playing the same perks over and over again just to win if you're not really having fun anymore and it forces you to play differently and change things up

What chase builds did you try?

  • "A game is as conpetitive as a player can make it"

Well there you go then. It' EXACTLY as you said in your own words. If you want to treat it and play it competitively you do that, if you want to play casually and not care about surviving/kills/rank then its casual for you, you cant just give it a blanket statement like that to cover every player in the playerbase
